they obviously care about each other, but there's also resentment there (mostly on tim's part, about being left alone while his parents traveled the world when he was younger), jealousy (jack can tell there's something special about tim and bruce's relationship, even if he doesn't quite know the details (yet), and he feels like bruce's taking his place), guilt (tim feels bad about lying to his father, and jack--well, I don't think he actually gets why tim feels the way he does about all the traveling, to be honest), and i think fear as well (you can tell they're terrified about losing each other).

it's all very average in the best way. i think the reason why this relationship is compelling (for me) it's just how painfully normal it all is. tim's life is pretty bonkers (that's one of the main themes of both this mini and his longer run, how hard he finds balancing his life as as tim drake and his role as robin), but his relationship with his dad is very--normal. jack drake is a lowkey mediocre parent who tries and fucks up and loves his son very much. i don't think he's likeable, but imo he is a pretty good character, and i think he's a very good foil to bruce and his relationship with tim: tim and bruce understand each other very well, but tim doesn't actually want him to be his father, and bruce also fucks up when it comes to his relationship with tim, if in very different (and sometimes genre-appropriate) ways.

James Potter wasn’t silly in the slightest. He was one of the brightest students in his year, managed to become an Animagus at a young age, and contributed to the creation of the Marauder’s Map. Portraying him as just a goofy joker seems like a pretty crude way to whitewash the character. Like, nooo, it’s not that he was a premeditated bastard, it’s just, you know, he was a prankster, a bit silly and all that, but a good guy deep down. Not at all—he was sharp as hell. I think he was the kind of idiot who acted funny, but his jokes only made people with fewer than two functioning brain cells laugh. Which probably meant a lot of people laughed because, let’s be honest, most people leave a lot to be desired. He was what we’d call in Spain “un cuñao”—a know-it-all loudmouth.

Pues también me ha surgido la misma duda ahora que lo has dicho y me he puesto a investigar sobre la vida de Aaron. Se conoce que el padre de Aaron estuvo de mercenario en Gascuña, que si no me equivoco, es una región de Francia. También he visto que Aaron fue mercenario de la Gran Compañía Catalana de los almogávares*, que era básicamente un grupo de mercenarios del s. XIV formada por almogávares aragoneses, catalanes, valencianos y navarros. Entonces, teniendo en cuenta que el padre de Aaron tenía que ir constantemente a Francia y que Aaron participó en esa compañía, podría deducir que sea de Aragón o Navarra, que ambas tocan la frontera con Francia. (No veo a Aaron siendo valenciano o catalán... -yo vivo en cataluña y no me lo imagino hablando catalán o valenciano-) En aquella época aún estaba la Corona de Aragón y creo que tuvieron que hacer un pacto con el Reino de Castilla para repartirse Navarra (tengo memoria muy vaga de eso así que a lo mejor te informo mal; busca información si lo ves muy esencial para tu historia).

*Los almogávares eran unas tropas originarias del Reino de Aragón (no es lo mismo que la Corona de Aragón, pero ahora mismo no sabría cómo explicártelo) que básicamente iban de espionaje y a luchar en algunos reinos cristianos de aquella época.
