The skies had been getting dangerously dark over the past couple days. Maybe he was overly anxious, but Lance was beginning to secure the cabinets and heavier items in the kitchen so they wouldn’t cause damage to the ship in the event of the inevitably bad storm brewing. He hadn’t been through a storm the likes of this in quite sometime and his nerves knotted in the pit of his stomach, though he tried not to show it. He heard the sound of footsteps approaching, but didn’t bother to turn and see who it might be. “If you’re looking for something to eat, come back later, I’m busy at the moment...” he said over his shoulder, exasperated, tangled up in a mess of rope and pans, “If you want to help, on the other hand, feel free to stay.”

Here is the official list of limited time roles for Adventure 3, which will focus on the Water Jewel. This Jewel is tied to the Muscian on the ship, Lyra Di Rossi ( @siren-scng ). As such, these limited time roles have more detail than previous adventure’s roles. Only one of these roles has the option of joining the crew at the end of the adventure. Please remember, members are only allowed two permanent roles at any given time, so if you already have two roles, you would not be able to keep a third full-time.
If you would like more information about the limited time roles listed below, feel free to contact the main and/or Lyra’s mun. You can also take a look at Lyra’s family task right here. ** To start, I’d like to give members who have not yet played a limited role time to apply. I will open it up to those who have played a limited time role at the end of the week (12/06/20).
NEEDED ROLES
These limited time roles are needed for the adventure and most wanted.
LIMITED TIME ROLE #1 - TAKEN
(Sam Heughan, 50, man, merfolk) Is that (ARROYO)? (HE) is known to be (CARING & PRIDEFUL). Will they help or hinder the crew? Only time will tell!
Name: Arroyo // Species: Mer // Age: 45-60
Arroyo will be the first character the crew will encounter on this mission, and he will have an option to join the crew after the event ends. You can change his name, just make sure to inform the admin.
Arroyo is Lyra’s eldest brother, the oldest child of the seven. He should be between 45-60 years old (fc does not have to match his age, because of mers aging more slowly than humans). Suggested FCs: Sam Heughan, Chris Hemsworth, Stephen Amell
A hunter, Arroyo has remained largely unconcerned with the politics on Oyster Island, and has often tried to act as a peacemaker or mediator in disagreements. He’s level-headed and down to earth. While he prefers to solve problems with words, he’s not afraid to fight when he decides it’s necessary, and he won’t allow himself or others to be bullied. He has a strong sense of fairness and believes in doing the right thing.
Largely regarded as one of the strongest mers in the colony, Arroyo does not enjoy fighting, but will if he has to. He prefers telling stories, and he taught Lyra many of the stories she learned as a child. He has a habit of embellishing stories of his own adventures.
Despite their large age gap, Lyra & Arroyo were very close when she was growing up. She looked up to him and believed all his stories, no matter how outlandish. When she stood trial, he stood up for her and advocated for forgiveness, but in the end had to accept her exile as being better than her death.
LIMITED TIME ROLE #2 - TAKEN
(tom hardy, 42, cis man, merfolk) Is that (AYDEN)? (HE) is known to be (CLEVER & IMPATIENT). Will they help or hinder the crew? Only time will tell!
Name: Ayden // Species: Mer // Age: 40-55
Ayden will be encountered by the crew later in the event. He cannot join the crew and may die during the event. You can change his name, just make sure to inform the admin.
When the crew meets Ayden, he will have taken control of the Water Jewel and will have become corrupted by it.
Ayden is Lyra’s older brother, the second oldest child of the seven. He should be between 40-55 years old (fc does not have to match his age, because of mers aging more slowly than humans). Suggested FCs: Domnhall Gleeson, Tom Hardy, Charlie Hunnam
One of the warriors responsible for guarding the jewel, Ayden takes his duty to the colony very seriously. He is very opinionated and headstrong, often unwilling to listen to what others have to say if they disagree with him. He can be very hard-headed and prefers to solve problems with his fists. He has little patience and he often rushes into things, but he is also very competent, clever and is usually able to do what he sets out to do.
For a long time, Ayden has believed he should succeed his mother as leader of the colony and primary protector of the jewel. He is a very talented and experienced warrior, and many mers in the colony agree with and support him, but he is frustrated that the decision lay solely with their mother, the current leader of the colony, because she seems to disagree.
Ayden and Lyra were never close. He was already a teenager when she was born, and he didn’t have the patience for dealing with young mers, so he mostly ignored her. When it came time for Lyra to stand trial, he may not have wanted to see her die, but he wanted to support his mother, so he did not weigh in on the deliberation or speak up for her.
LIMITED TIME ROLE #3 - TAKEN
(katheryn winnick, 147, cis woman, mermaid) Is that (WYLLA)? (SHE) is known to be (STRONG-WILLED & HARSH). Will they help or hinder the crew? Only time will tell!
Name: Wylla // Species: Mer // Age: 100-150
Wylla will be encountered by the crew later in the event. She cannot join the crew and may die during the event. You can change her name, just make sure to inform the admin.
Wylla is Lyra’s mother. She should be between 100-150 years old (fc does not have to match her age, because of mers aging more slowly than humans). Suggested FCs: Katheryn Winnick, Charlize Theron, Lena Headey
The leader of the colony and the mer mainly responsible for protecting the jewel, Wylla is a ferocious warrior who believes in the laws of their colony more than anything, and believes that protecting the jewel is the only way to ensure the survival of their race. She is very stoic and headstrong, but she is willing to listen to counsel from those she trusts. Her word in the colony is pretty much law, and she takes her duties very seriously.
As she is getting older, it’s time she names a successor. Many in the colony support her son, Ayden, and while she knows he is a gifted warrior, she worries he may be too reckless to lead, and too power-hungry to protect the colony and the jewel. She has instead favored her eldest daughter, Emiyn, as her successor, and this has caused issues on the Island as Ayden feels he is being slighted because of his sex.
Wylla was never a particularly affectionate mother, but she does love her children as much as she is able, even Lyra. The decision to exile Lyra was ultimately hers, a small mercy when the alternative was death. She felt she had to prioritize their laws and set an example when Lyra broke them, and because of her stoic nature, it’s difficult to say if she regrets this.
ADDITIONAL ROLES
These roles are not necessarily needed for the adventure, but are definitely wanted.
LIMITED TIME ROLE #4 - OPEN
Name: Arron // Species: Mer // Age: 100-150
Arron will be encountered by the crew later in the event. He cannot join the crew but will survive the event. You can change his name, just make sure to inform the admin.
Arron is Lyra’s father. He should be between 100-150 years old (fc does not have to match his age, because of mers aging more slowly than humans). Suggest FCs: Toby Stephens, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Alexander Skarsgard
One of the colony’s best hunters, Arron taught of his children how to hunt large prey with a spear or trident. He is a gifted warrior, but does not often fight. He is the strong and silent type, but he’s also one of the few people Wylla trusts in order to take counsel from him. He is a simple but wise man, who afforded his children great freedom to learn from their own mistakes.
Arron has remained neutral in the conflict between Emiyn & Ayden, although he has been known to come between them when things get too heated. He leaves all major decisions to Wylla, and any disagreement he may have with her he keeps private, with the notable exception of when Lyra was exiled. That was one of the few instances where he openly spoke against his mate.
Arron taught Lyra how to hunt, although she was never a particularly dedicated student. He was the parent who would listen to her when she had problems and try to help her fix them. When she was standing trial, he stood up for her and convinced Wylla to only exile her; he tried to believe that he’d taught her well enough to survive by herself.
LIMITED TIME ROLE #5 - TAKEN
(max irons, 40, cis male, merfolk) Is that (QUAY)? (HE) is known to be (PROTECTIVE & RECKLESS). Will they help or hinder the crew? Only time will tell!
Name: Quay // Species: Mer // Age: 40-50
Quay will be encountered by the crew later in the event. He cannot join the crew. You can change his name, just make sure to inform the admin.
Quay is Lyra’s older brother, the third oldest child of the seven. He should be between 40-50 years old (fc does not have to match his age, because of mers aging more slowly than humans). Suggested FCs: Aaron Ashmore, Ryan Reynolds, Chris Evans
Like Lyra, Quay is one of the colony’s sirens. He was trained to fight like all of the mers in their colony, but he does not excel at it like some of the others, and instead has focused on honing his voice to be able to lure sailors away from their island. He always felt like he was somewhat trapped in his older brother’s shadows, since he couldn’t measure up to them physically, but he was better known for his kindness and wisdom.
Quay was always close to his brothers, and so he’s always supported Ayden’s desire to be the next leader of the colony. He doesn’t dislike Emiyn, but he senses the same coldness in her that he knows their mother possesses. He resents their mother for exiling Lyra, and he isn’t sure that their way is the best way to run the colony, so he has supported Ayden to try and change things up.
Ever since Lyra first started to sing, Quay knew there was something special about her. He spent a great deal of time teaching her how to sing, and then teaching her their colony’s special songs. They were extremely close, and when Lyra was supposed to stand trial, he was so outraged that they were considering the death penalty he tried to free her before the trial. He was knocked unconscious, and by the time he came to, Lyra was long gone.
LIMITED TIME ROLE #6 - OPEN
Name: Emiyn // Species: Mer // Age: 25-35
Emiyn will be encountered by the crew later in the event. She cannot join the crew and may die during the event. You can change her name, just make sure to inform the admin.
Emiyn is Lyra’s eldest sister, the fourth oldest child of the seven. She is Erwyn’s twin. She should be between 25-35 years old (fc does not have to match her age, because of mers aging more slowly than humans). Suggested FCs: Imogen Waterhouse, Brie Larson, Cara Delevigne
A warrior following in her mother’s wake, Emiyn is young but extremely promising. She can be very judgmental, and like her mother, believes that their laws must be strictly upheld. She does not have much compassion, but she is extremely intelligent and learns very quickly, and she rarely makes mistakes. While she has not yet had time to prove herself to the colony, she is eager to, and follows her mother’s orders without question.
The colony says she is just like Wylla was when she was young, and many think this is why Wylla favors her as successor. Wylla spent more time training Emiyn than she did any of her other children, and the two of them are very close. They see eye to eye on many issues, bringing them closer together.
Despite being close in age, Emiyn and Lyra never really got along. Emiyn was always so serious about her training, whereas Lyra would blow it off to go sing on a rock. Emiyn had little respect for her sister, and was not surprised that she swam off and made friends with a human. She supported her mother’s decision to uphold the law and exile Lyra.
APPLICATION
(fc, age, gender, species) Is that (FIRST NAME)? (PRONOUN) is known to be (POSITIVE TRAIT & NEGATIVE TRAIT). Will they help or hinder the crew? Only time will tell!

IC:
Months ago on Luna Island, one crew member betrayed the others and secretly divulged the Cursed Serpent’s true mission to the Luna Island Coven and Pack. Since then, the crew has been consumed with rooting out the traitor in their midst, but their efforts have been unsuccessful.
On the eve of their departure from Westburgh, the common sailors had a midnight drink together. The first sailor indulged a little too much and wound up drunker than a skunk. When the bottle was nearly empty, the sailors got to talking about all that the crew went through on Luna Island. The very inebriated first sailor made an offhanded comment about speaking with the Luna Coven Supreme. The second sailor, who was not nearly as tipsy, found this odd. While many of the crew members spoke with the Luna Coven Supreme during their weeks on the island, all of them had been upfront with that information. In the months that had passed since the crew escaped their near deaths there, the drunken sailor never mentioned any conversations with the island leaders.
The second sailor pressed the drunken sailor. Realizing too late that they had let something slip, the drunken sailor tried to explain away the situation. They claimed that they had gone to the Luna Coven Supreme and the Luna Pack Alpha before the trial in an attempt to see what it would take for the island leadership to let the crew go free. Again, the second sailor found this odd. Everyone knew that the crew’s own leadership had been the ones to investigate what it might take for the Islanders to let them go free, and they couldn’t remember anyone on the ship talking about the drunken sailor’s efforts...
Although the conversation and the suspicious feeling in the second sailor’s gut were pushed aside during the chaotic escape from Westburgh, they were not forgotten. Once the ship was at sea and it was clear no one was going to die from their injuries, the second sailor began to focus on what the drunken sailor had divulged and remembered a rumor they’d heard around the ship. Though someone had certainly tried to keep the information under wraps, there were whispers that the person who betrayed the crew on Luna Island was a werewolf. The second sailor didn’t know much about the creatures other than what they’d observed while on the island, but they figured testing that theory was worth a shot. If the first, drunken sailor reacted poorly to silver, then the second sailor would go to the captain. It wasn’t a lot to go off, but it was more than the crew had discovered in months.
While the sailors were straightening up the bunks, the second sailor handed the drunken sailor a handful of items that they “found” underneath a bunk. In the pile of stuff there was one pure silver necklace. When the necklace touched the drunken sailor’s hand, they yelped and dropped the entire handful of belongings. When they flipped their hand over, the second sailor could clearly see an ugly red blotch of burned skin.
Once they were done cleaning, the second sailor went to the Captain’s quarters to report everything that happened to both the Captain and the Musician who happened to be there. The Captain called for the First Mate, the Quartermaster, and for the accused sailor. Together, the ship’s leadership questioned the drunken sailor, who buckled under the pressure and confessed.
A full crew meeting was immediately called. As the sun set and the Cursed Serpent rocked in the evening waves, the Captain detailed everything the drunken sailor confessed to. Apparently, the drunken sailor decided to go to the Luna Coven Supreme and Luna Pack Alpha on their own to save themselves after the other crew members failed to negotiate a deal that would save everyone. In order to convince the Luna Island leaders to meet with them, the drunken sailor admitted to them that he was a werewolf and understood why they lived in isolation. In exchange for their life, and for help getting off the island, the sailor told the Luna Island leaders everything about the Cursed Serpent’s mission, why they were really on Luna Island, and what they were willing to do to get what they came for. The sailor’s betrayal ensured that the crew would be found guilty at their trial. When it was clear that the crew would actually escape their death sentence, the sailor decided to go with them and pretend like they had never gone behind their backs. For months, the sailor kept their secret and watched as their crewmates turned on each other. When the Navigator was accused of being the traitor, they stayed silent and planned to let her take the fall and even let her die if she was thought to be guilty.
Now, it’s up to the crew members to decide if the sailor’s confession holds true. In order to sentence the sailor to death, the majority of the crew must agree that they are guilty. If the crew finds the sailor to be guilty, they’ll be put to death using a silver sword. If the crew finds the sailor to be innocent, then they will move on and the search will continue...but the memory of this confession will never fade from their minds. If there is a tie, the Captain will make the final call.
OOC:
To cast your role’s vote, please comment on this post with either a simple “guilty” or “innocent”. If you write multiple roles, be sure to cast a vote for each and identify who is casting which vote. For weeks, the crew has been sailing toward a pirate-friendly port city where they’ll be able to sell all the goods they stole acquired in Westburgh. The sea has been kind to the pirates thus far, but for the past few days, the sky has been growing noticeably darker, indicating that their good fortune will soon come to an end.
When the crew rose from their bunks this morning, the sky was a deeper shade of gray than they had ever seen before. Flashes of lightning painted the sky and claps of thunder echoed in the air. Wind whipped in all directions. Before lunch, the skies opened up, and rain pounded against the ship and the sea.
The crew has sailed through many storms before, but never one quite like this. Already, the ship is taking damage from the combination of the unrelenting rain and wind. This storm is far from over, and the ship can only take so much.
OOC:
Due to the holiday season (and exam season!), this dash plot will span from Thursday, December 10 at 8 p.m. EST until the last week of December. Feel free to take your time with your interactions, and as always, be sure to keep an eye on the dash for updates! As usual, if there’s a plot you’d like to write that would impact the entire group, please message the main. I rarely say no, but I need to know about all major and impactful plots ahead of time!
Once the plot starts, all new starters should take place directly before the storm (the days with the increasingly gray skies) or during the storm!

IC:
What started out as a simple exploration of the deserted island the crew grounded at turned into an eventful evening full of questions and reunited family. While searching the island for animals to hunt and suspicious activities, the crew heard a human noise by the shore. A closer look revealed that the painful sound hadn’t come from a human after all. An injured merman was on the beach, helpless aside from the one weapon he carried.
Quickly, the crew’s musician, Lyra ( @siren-scng ), came to realize that the stranded mer was her brother, Arroyo ( @arroyo-sin-pollo ). Arroyo told them all, truthfully, that he was injured during the recent storm and carried far away from home by the vicious sea. Dozens of questions came to everyone’s minds, but there was no time to waste. Arroyo’s injuries were so grave that Captain Harper ( @jax-harper ) decided to transport the mer back to the ship in order to help him.
After Arroyo’s major injuries were tended to, the crew questioned him. Arroyo revealed that his colony, which is Lyra’s former colony, was engaged in a major power struggle between Lyra’s mother, Wylla, and their brother Ayden. Mers in the colony have begun to choose sides and the colony is especially vulnerable.
That wasn’t the only secret Arroyo had to tell. After the rest of the crew was sent to work on repairs and were out of earshot, Arroyo told Lyra and Captain Harper that Ayden took control of the jewel the colony protects - the Water Jewel. The severe storm that left Arroyo injured and the crew’s ship damaged was caused by Ayden’s unpracticed use of the Water Jewel, and if he isn’t stopped, more storms will surely follow.
At Lyra’s insistence, the Captain agreed to take Arroyo back to his colony, although they will stay some distance away from the actual territory to make sure Lyra is not in any danger of being spotted by those who exiled her. If she were to return to the colony, the punishment would be death. When they arrive, another mer will escort Arroyo home with a tale of finding him alone and healing from his injuries. This will also serve as an opportunity to determine just how bad the power struggle in Lyra’s colony is. No one on the crew, save Arroyo, Lyra, and Jax, knows that the colony is protecting the Water Jewel. However, if the colony is in chaos when the crew arrives, it might present the perfect chance to take hold of the Jewel - not only to save the world from the damage Ayden could do with the stone, but to add another jewel to the crew’s collection as well.
OOC:
All new starters should be set after the discord event. You are free to keep writing your pre-event threads.
No one except for Jax, Lyra, and Arroyo know that the mer colony has the Water Jewel, and no one else knows that the storm was caused by the jewel.
The crew has been informed that once the repairs are made, they will be returning Arroyo to his home.
Arroyo is telling the truth about how he ended up on the deserted island.
The crew will remain on the island to make repairs for the next week ooc and time may be extended if more threads are needed. Then, they will set sail.
If you missed the event or need to review the chats for any reason, the channels are titled “The Deserted Island” and “The Crew Pretending to Work” and can be found under the discord events category in the server.

IC:
At long last the crew has what they need to use the Jewels of Destiny. In just a few short days they will set sail for a smaller port in southern waters. First, they need to tie up loose ends and make good on their promises - namely, setting Charles Cassidy ( @charleshere ) free. Letting someone go who has knowledge of their true mission is a risky but calculated move. By allowing him to walk free, they seemingly gain the trust of the one person in the world who can help them access the power the Jewels of Destiny hold.
Charles will be issued a strong warning by the crew, including a threat that if he betrays them, they will hunt him down and kill him. The crew doesn’t plan to give back any of the items they stole from Maeve and Charles’ shop, including Charles’ grimoire.
As the crew sails away from Westburgh they will put Maeve Callistor’s ( @grimxintcntions ) knowledge of the Jewels to the test. Adeline Drake ( @adelinedrxke ) volunteered to test the Jewel. With Maeve guiding her through the process, there is finally hope that they will be able to see what the Memory Jewel holds.
Nothing ever goes according to plan on the Cursed Serpent. Right when the crew thinks they’re in the clear, things will fall apart. Unwilling to let the crew leave with his grimoire, Charles will make a move to steal it back, putting the crew in a precarious situation. Can they keep their word to Maeve or will they be forced to break their promise so soon?
Our motley crew better start packing their things and stocking up on rum. They have a long journey ahead of them.
OOC:
In game, the time between now and the ship setting sail will be a few days. OOC, we will have those interactions take place over the next twoish weeks. After that, we’ll have our final event for this adventure! If you have any questions or want to let me know about something you’d like your character to do at the tail end of this adventure that would impact the entire crew and plot, the inbox & IMs are always open!

While there is some damage the crew won’t be able to fully fix until they reach a port city, the critical ship repairs are finished. The crew must bring Arroyo close to home before they can head for populated land. Tensions on the ship are running high. Although the crew doesn’t know it yet, their biggest concern while sailing should be the possibility of more unimaginably strong storms. For now, they’re busy following the directions given to them by Arroyo and Lyra to bring Arroyo home.
OOC:
The crew has now left the deserted island. All new interactions should take place while the crew is sailing. You are free to finish your old threads. We will spend at least two weeks OOC writing the journey to Arroyo and Lyra’s colony. If more time is needed, I’ll make an announcement extending it.

IC:
The brutal storm rocked the Cursed Serpent for what felt like an eternity. Wicked winds and forceful waves knocked the ship off course, and the days long assault caused more damage than expected. After discovering some major issues, the exhausted crew realized that they couldn’t rest and relax quite yet. An emergency stop needed to be made in order to repair the ship. If they attempted to continue sailing, they would surely run into deadly trouble.
Luckily for the crew, getting blown off course might have been a blessing in disguise. Once visibility returned, a small island was spotted not too far away. It was decided that the crew would ground there in order to repair the ship.
Surviving the worst storm any of the crew had ever seen wasn’t easy and repairing the ship will be hard work, but the crew is in for an even bigger surprise. For now, they’ve taken refuge on the island and have begun fully assessing the damage to the ship. Soon, they’ll come to find that they aren’t the only hapless souls on the island.
After only a day and a half on the island, the crew will find Lyra’s brother, Arroyo, and the story he has to tell them will change everything.
OOC:
The dash plot is now finished. You are welcome to keep writing your plot replies, but please do your best to finish them up in the next week.
Our discord event will take place on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 8:00 p.m EST. The basis of the event will be the crew running into Arroyo and learning all he has to share with them. More details to set the scene will be released on Friday evening.
I am aware that this might late for some members. If you can’t participate in the event at all, please assume your role will simply work on the ship. If you need to join late or leave early, that’s no problem either!
If you choose to write any starters before the discord event, they should be set on the island. If you’d like to hold off posting an open until after the event, that’s a-okay.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and get ready for some major plot developments!

The Moon Festival
Over the past few weeks, the crew has taken notice of just how full to the brim Westburgh is. Speculation about why the city was so lively followed, but quickly died out as the pirates became distracted with their mission. As it turns out, Westburgh is about to celebrate its annual Moon Festival. While the festival mostly attracts those from nearby cities, tradesmen, and visitors who have been to the city before, word occasionally spreads to those who have never set foot on the windy city’s shores.
The Moon Festival is a time for the citizens of Westburgh to give thanks for the year’s good fortune. If the year was not profitable, they celebrate in hopes of leaving the bad year behind and bringing in a better one. For one week, Westbugh comes alive once the sky is dark and only lit by the stars and moon above. Vendors keep their shops and stalls open all night, and almost everyone parties until the sun comes up. During the weeklong festival, the city is awfully quiet during the day. If you have business to attend to or shopping to get done, it is best to see the merchants in the evening before the sun goes down. This year was particularly profitable for the city, and the celebrations are sure to tire out even the hardest working business owners.
On the final day of the festival, the crew of the Cursed Serpent will break into Maeve Callistor and Charles Cassidy’s shop to search for the information they so desire. In the meantime, there’s no reason for the rowdy pirates not to partake in the celebrations. So hunt down some decent ale and dance to your heart’s content!
All new starters should take place during the festival. Of course, you’re free to continue your pre-festival threads. If you have any questions, please direct them to the main.

As the crew sails north toward their next adventure, there is one question weighing on their minds: who betrayed them on Luna Island? It’s been several long weeks since one of their own nearly caused their untimely deaths, and the crew is no closer to an answer than they were the day that it happened. Anxiety is growing as the realization that another betrayal could occur sets in. No one wants to wind up dead due to one untrustworthy treasonist. Unease is in the air, and the pressure to apprehend the back-stabbing crew member is mounting.
Unfortunately, there isn’t much evidence to work from. All the crew truly knows is that there is a werewolf among their numbers, and because they were betrayed while on an island full of werewolves, it is likely that is who sold them out. They also know that the traitor is a man, though that information does little to help them given how many men there are aboard the ship. Without any other intel, the crew must use assumptions and educated guesses to investigate their fellows.
Though they have no solid proof, Captain Harper and Quartermaster Price believe the double-crosser may not have only wanted to save their own life but to steal the Jewel for themselves as well. With that in mind, they have concocted a plan to draw the traitor out of hiding…by using the Memory Jewel as bait.
Early in the morning, the Captain and the Quartermaster called a meeting where they announced, untruthfully, that they discovered how to use the Jewel of Destiny safely. They told the crew that in order to use the Jewel, one must hold it in their fist and say ‘memoriae’ out loud. Of course, this is a lie. The Jewel will not work properly if anyone attempts to use it in this manner.
Though they did not announce it outright, it is common knowledge that the Jewel is being kept in the captain’s quarters. Up until now, Captain Harper has kept the Jewel in a hidden compartment and guarded by magic. In hopes of luring the traitor into a trap, the Captain plans to conceal the Jewel less securely. It will now reside in one of his desk drawers, seemingly unprotected. An alarm spell has been cast on the drawer, and the moment it opens, the Captain will know.
Despite the well-laid trap, Alarik will not be outed as the traitor during the plot. However, another character might be tempted by the strong pull of the Jewel. Anyone who attempts to use the Jewel will be slightly hurt. Memories that are not their own, both good and bad, will come sporadically for weeks, and some of their own memories will temporarily disappear. If someone does fall into the trap, the crew might assume that person is the traitor. Should someone try to use the Jewel sneakily and without informing the Captain or the Quartermaster, they will be apprehended, and the plan will be revealed to the entire crew. Each crew member will have to decide if the person caught using the Jewel is actually the traitor.
If you would like your character to fall victim to the lure of the Memory Jewel, please message the main. No harm will come to your character without your approval. Even if some believe the role is the traitor, your character will not be harmed in any way, other than experiencing the side effects of improperly using the Memory Jewel. If there are no volunteers, this will simply be a failed attempt to catch the traitor. The mystery will go unsolved, and the crew will have no new leads or suspicions.
As of right now, only the Captain and the Quartermaster know of the plan. However, they are free to share it with others. It is entirely possible that the entire crew could learn about the lie and confront them.
If you would like to volunteer your role to attempt to use the Jewel, please message the main by Saturday June 27. In order to give everyone a chance to meaningfully participate, I do ask that if you have volunteered your role(s) for a plot or signed up for a limited time role already, you hold off on volunteering for now. If no one has volunteered by Friday night at 7 p.m. EST, then anyone who has previously volunteered for a plot or played a limited time role may take on this plot. If no one volunteers by Saturday, then the trap will simply be a failed attempt to catch the traitor.
** The time spent writing the journey to the new location will be extended by one week. If more time is needed, it will be extended again. Right now, plan for our characters to reach the new location on July 8.

The votes are in and the majority of voters chose to extend the storm dash plot by one week, meaning that it will end on 1/7/2021. All new threads and starters should take place during the storm until then!

After an eventful time at sea, the crew has finally reached Westburgh. Though their real mission is to locate and gain the trust of the woman who supposedly knows how to work the Jewels of Destiny, they have been instructed by Captain Harper to tell anyone who questions them that they are there to make connections to sell goods in the future. The crew has been asked to actually attempt to accomplish this goal as it truly might benefit them in the future, especially if they find that they cannot return to Port Royal.
Once they have their land legs back and have explored the coastal city, the crew will start asking around and use the clues they have to help them find the woman Bradway wrote about. Eventually, a barkeep will tell them where to find a woman of that description, and that will lead them to Limited Time Role #1.
Once the woman is located, Lucien ( @luciien ) and Thaddeus ( @doctor-durant ) will make first contact. Quartermaster Price ( @cleptaar ) will follow them in case the encounter goes badly. Lucien and Thaddeus will ask the woman if she is the one they are searching for, and she will deny it. Because all of the evidence points to her, the crew will not believe her word and will investigate further. This will lead to our first event for this adventure which will revolve around snooping through the woman’s living space. The crew will be caught during this event, and it will be revealed that Limited Time Role #1 was partially telling the truth. Limited Time Role #2 will be secretly working to sabotage Limited Time Role #1 the entire time.
If you would like to volunteer your role to be the one who receives the final clue from the bartender that leads to Limited Time Role #1, please message the main. This role will be responsible for passing the information along to the rest of the crew. I ask that those who have volunteered for plots or limited time roles in the past give others a chance to volunteer first. If no one has volunteered by Friday, July 10, I will open it up to everyone.

The crew is leaving Port Royal on Saturday. Beginning on Saturday, all new starters should be set on the ship.
The ship has been fully repaired.
The intruder/Luna Island Sorcerer was not caught. Although it’s not certain, it’s assumed that he fled. This will come back to haunt the crew.
They are sailing north to track down a woman who dedicated her life to studying the Jewels of Destiny. Captain Jax hopes this woman is still alive and knows how to use the Jewels. The entire crew is aware of why they’re going to the new location.
IC, the journey will last a month. OOC, we’ll spend two and a half weeks writing their time on the ship. No events will take place while the ship is at sea, but there will be periodic plot updates, which won’t be full plot drops. The crew will focus on learning how to use the Memory Jewel and the identity of the traitor. They will fail in their personal attempts to use the Jewel. To volunteer your character to test the Jewel, please message the main. Whether or not the crew will discover the true identity of the traitor is up to that role’s mun.
The crew’s intended destination will be far more populated and not as outwardly dangerous as Luna Island. The woman will be alive, and the crew will meet her. She will not reveal her identity immediately, and the crew will have to work to learn who she is.
The woman will be a limited time role. The limited time role info and app will be posted a week before our crew arrives at the new location.
There will be one dash event/plot and one discord event while our crew is at the new location. The event announcements will be released a week before each individual event.
All in all, the crew will be at this location for about a month and a half ooc.
The crew will learn how to use the Jewels of Destiny before departing on a search for another Jewel. The next hunt will not be as easy as the first.
If you have an idea or would like to incorporate a plot for your role, please message the main to discuss it!

Westburgh
Westburgh is a bustling northern coastal city. The weather is typically chilly and windy, but that does not deter the fishermen who can be seen on the water every single day. The population consists mostly of those who make enough money to get by but not much more. Sailors and tradesmen frequent the city. There are a number of shops and taverns near the coast that capitalize on the presence of these transients.
While the occasional brawl or argument over gambling debts do occur in the city, violence is not generally expected or tolerated. Brandishing weapons and picking fights will be frowned upon and earn visitors a bad reputation. Pirates are not common visitors. The people are welcoming of guests, but they are very nosy and gossip travels fast.

** To start, I’d like to give members who have not yet played a limited role time to apply. If no one applies, then I will open it up to those who have played a limited time role before.
LIMITED TIME ROLE #1 - TAKEN
(maisie richardson-sellers, 27, cis female, human) Is that (MAEVE CALLISTOR)? (SHE) is known to be (DISCIPLINED & SECRETIVE). Will they help or hinder the crew? Only time will tell!
Taken. Human. 24-30 years old.
As a mere human who has kept a low profile over the years, no one has ever suspected this woman of having direct knowledge of the Jewels of Destiny. However, many suspected her mother did. When her mother was a young adult, someone tricked her into revealing that she knew how to use the Jewels of Destiny. When that person turned on her, she spent the rest of her life on the run. When she had her daughter, she settled in Westburgh and changed her name. To make sure her daughter knew of the looming danger, she told Limited Time Role #1 about the Jewels of Destiny, how to work them, and why that knowledge must be kept a secret.
Limited Time Role #1′s mother passed away a few years ago and is the woman Bradway described in his journal. Still dedicated to keeping her mother’s secrets, Limited Time Role #1 will not jump to share information about the Jewels. Despite her reservations, she is very interested in the Jewels of Destiny, and if the right people were to come along, she might be willing to share her knowledge to see that the Jewels are united again. She owned a small shop near the coast and lives above it with Limited Time Role #2. This role must be 24-30 years old.
Responsibilities:
Reveal how to use the Jewels
Possibly join the crew
LIMITED TIME ROLE #2 - TAKEN
(cillian murphy, 42, cismale, sorcerer) Is that (CHARLES CASSIDY)? (HE) is known to be (SOPHISTICATED & TREACHEROUS). Will they help or hinder the crew? Only time will tell!
Taken. Sorcerer. 40+ years old.
This person is a sorcerer who met Limited Time Role #1′s mother long ago and traveled by her side, eventually settling in Westburgh with her. Their family grimoire has a detailed history of two of the Jewels of Destiny. Despite their close relationship, Limited Time Role #1′s mother refused to tell Limited Time Role #2 the secret of how to use the Jewels. Limited Time Role #2 eventually grew bitter and spread the rumor that the woman knew how to use the Jewels. Those rumors eventually reached Bradway. To this day, Limited Time Role #1 does not know the sorcerer betrayed her mother. This role must be 40+ years old.
Responsibilities:
Starting rumors in Westburgh that Limited Time Role #1 has information about the Jewels of Destiny
Attempting to stop Limited Time Role #1 if she tries to leave with the crew
APPLICATION
** Please submit to the main HERE.
(fc, age, gender, species) Is that (FIRST NAME LAST NAME)? (PRONOUN) is known to be (POSITIVE TRAIT & NEGATIVE TRAIT). Will they help or hinder the crew? Only time will tell!
