The stars shimmer softly above, casting a gentle glow over the empty picnic spot. The last of the laughter had faded, and the quiet hum of the night settled around you.

The day had been loud—filled with chatter and cheerful chaos. Papyrus and Undyne’s friendly bickering echoed over the hill as they teased each other about their sparring match, Alphys trying (and only half-succeeding) to wrangle Frisk into helping with an experiment that’d apparently gone slightly awry, Toriel chiding Asgore over a mix-up with the picnic basket.

But they've all gone home, leaving you with only the soft sounds of the night and the gentle presence of Sans beside you.

He leans back on the blanket, hands tucked behind his head, staring up at the stars with that familiar, lazy grin of his. “gotta hand it to ya, sunshine. pretty solid idea for a get-together. beats grillbz any day.”

You laugh, nudging him lightly. “Oh, come on, nothing beats Grillby’s in your book.”

“eh, fair point. still, wouldn’t mind doin’ this again. maybe next time, i’ll even bring my… stellar humor.”

You snort, rolling your eyes. “Oh, no. Please spare me the space puns, Sans. I don’t think I can take any more.”

“oh, c’mon, ya gotta admit, they're outta this world.”

You groan, hiding a grin. “Alright, I right walked into that one.”

"i call that a job well pun," he replied with a wink. You groan.

Then, you both fall into a comfortable silence, the night sky stretching endlessly above. The darkness wraps around you, serene and familiar, and you feel yourself relax into it, savoring the quiet, steady rhythm of simply being by his side. The world feels distant, leaving just the two of you, sharing a peace that needs no words.

After a moment, you tilt your head towards him, a thought surfacing as you gaze up at the sky. “Did monsters ever make wishes down in the Underground?” The question comes out softly, almost as if you’re afraid to break the spell of the moment.

“wishes, huh?” he echoes, his gaze staying fixed on the stars.

Sans' smile softens, and for a fleeting moment, something deeper lingers in his gaze. "yeah… yeah, we did. used to make ‘em all the time."

He pauses for a few seconds, choosing his next words carefully. "wishin' and waitin'… that was kinda all we had, y'know? we'd look up at the crystals in Waterfall, just hopin' someone out there might actually hear us." There’s something soft and somber in his tone, something that speaks of countless nights spent in darkness, staring up at artificial lights and longing for something… different.

As if the universe was listening, a shooting star streaks across the sky, a brief but brilliant trail of light. You catch your breath, feeling a little thrill as you shut your eyes and make a wish before the light disappears.

When you open your eyes, Sans is watching you with a faint, curious smile. “well, did ya wish for somethin’ good?”

“I did,” you reply, feeling your cheeks warm slightly. “What about you? Did you wish for anything?”

Sans leans back again, stuffing his hands into his hoodie pockets. He hesitates a little, his face a touch more serious. "heh, if i told ya, it wouldn't come true."

But there’s something in the way he’s looking at you now, lingering just a little too long, as if he’s forgotten to say something else. The silence stretches, and before he can stop himself, he mumbles, “can’t help it, though… feels like i might be fallin’ for ya.”

The words hang between you, and he visibly tenses, realizing what he’s just said. “uh, i mean—trippin’. heh, yeah. trippin’ for ya… guess i… gotta watch my step…” But the attempt to backtrack doesn’t fool either of you.

His face softens, the humor falling away as his gaze meets yours with something far more honest, even a little shy.

Heart pounding, you leaned closer, the fabric of your clothes brushing together as you whispered his name, barely able to find your voice.

"Sans?"

“what?” he murmurs, the word barely more than a breath, his voice tender and uncharacteristically soft.

Before you know it, you’ve closed the gap, your lips brushing his teeth in a feather-light touch. For a moment, he doesn’t move, and you worry you’ve crossed a line, that this might be too much—too soon. But then, his hand comes up to cup your cheek, hesitant yet grounding, as if he’s anchoring himself in the moment.

The kiss is soft and achingly gentle.

When you pull back, his eyes meet yours, carrying a warmth that speaks louder than any words. The moment hangs between you, charged with something fragile yet profound, neither of you daring to look away.

Finally he leans forward, his mouth brushing yours once more, this time with a little more confidence. The hum of his magic mingles with the crisp night air as he pulls you closer, his thumb gently stroking your cheek as he deepens the kiss. Each movement is careful and deliberate, as though he’s savoring something he’s barely dared to hope for. The kiss holds a quiet sincerity, making it feel precious—like he’s offering you a part of himself.

As you part, he lets out a soft, breathy chuckle, his eyes crinkling at the corners in that familiar way that shows he’s genuinely happy. The sound fills the quiet night, a soft echo of joy that lingers between you.

“So,” you say softly, trying to calm your racing heart, “what’d you wish for?”

He looks at you, his voice softened by a gentleness that feels almost like an answer in itself. “maybe i’ll tell ya someday…”

I love Grillby-

Here is the second official UCtale character, Grillby! He didn't really change much from the old design I had of him, just gave different clothes. He is also a bit more of a softer orange compared to og Grillby-

Anyhow, he is a calm bartender that mainly expresses himself with the color and warmth of his fire. The closer to white his fire is, the happier he is. Just never get him to go blue-

He is also immune to the crystal infection that half of the underground monsters are affected by. Because of his immunity, he will gladly help out clearing the abundance of magic crystals in the underground.

I'll get more into detail about the whole crystal situation in my AU on a later date, just know there is a crystal problem in the underground.

After reading the backstory, the toxic ooze that caused this au to be... well, THIS, gave me "paint thinner" vibes.

So we got a bunch of Underswap folk in various forms of degeneration, from looking kinda normal aside from glowing eyes and slight discoloration to full on melting and stretching.

Except for Grillby. He became a living lava lamp.

I even gave these melty goobers names!

A few references! (A wip because I got distracted lmao--)

I snatched a few of these from a magma with @oodlesndoodles (I took out Kale if only because I *was* planning on rendering before my distraction) but this doodle features Pretender!Sans, Paps, Gaster, Alphys, and Grillby in their monster forms!

Design Choices!:

Sans: He's been underground for a long time but used to live on the surface. I imagine he *does* have the iconic Sans outfit somewhere, but right now he wears robes like the King and Queen used to. (He recieved them when he was appointed Judge by Asgore, but no one really knows their significance because only the Guard and Asgore know of his work.)

Paps: Chose his outfit mostly to match Pretender amd the Guard. His shoulder-pads are like old crystal ball props, and his cape had the same sparke affect as Pretender's hood/robes. Around his waist he wears one of the old lab coats Sans leaves around the house. (<- It belonged to one of Sans' favorite people, the one Paps tries to mimic, so he wears it now instead.) Paps has the markings on his face same as Gaster because Sans has a lot of photos from over the years hung on the walls in his room, and Paps used to see them a lot.

Gaster: He's deceased, so the current plot doesn't see him (he can't interact with K, unfortunately. I think they would've been friends if they'd met in Gaster's prime) but I still wanted to doodle him. This was how he looked towards the end of his life, when most of the lab team had passed and he was starting to fall down. He wore cardigans and sweaters, focusing mostly on comfort rather than safety (he was always cold, but especially so towards the end).

Alphys: Went a bit crazy after Gaster passed. She hadn't been eating for a long time, and she couldn't bring herself to leave the lab, even after Sans retired his studies and moved to Snowdin. She still wears her old lab coat, stained and ripped, and she's worse-off for it. Most who see her think she's a rabid animal that has taken a spot in the labs, cameras abandoned and traps scattered in the lab waiting for prey to fall into them. It's an unsafe zone. Any humans who manage to pass Undyne *always* fall to Alphys.

Grillby: Back to fun times!!! He's a short king (at least coming in at around 5'6" which is small compared to other boss monsters, but big compared to merchants) and still runs his restaurant in Snowdin. Though, it's usually empty these days since he doesn't exactly have much food to serve. And water? He doesn't touch the stuff. Sans goes there often just to keep Grillby company. Most monsters, even if they do see a human enter, won't bother attacking because they know Grillby gets first dibs. Grillby would rather not get blood on his nice counters, though. He wears a vest and button-up with symbols like Pretender's, but otherwise is fairly unchanged from canon.

Extra Notes:

-Alphys and Sans aren't on speaking terms any longer. After Sans gave up the project, Alphys became manic and fell into despair, deciding that she'd do everything herself. Sans tried to see her a few times after that before be realized she'd gone off the deep-end and he only dared to be nearby when Asgore needed him.

-I now believe that MTT would be a positive force for humans. A ghost-monster who wanted to look human, to see if they could pass the barrier. Alphys was in charge of the project before Gaster passed, and constructed a surprisingly sturdy human-like body. It was never tested against the barrier. Now MTT tries to stay by Alphys, even in her madness. He tries to help people by reminding them how humans look, act, and talk, with his show. He helps people who get caught by Alphys' traps. (Gotta talk to Ood, but I'm thinking that Pretender wasn't fast enough to help K on her first time through the lab. It was actually MTT who moved her out of immediate danger before stalling Alphys? Unsure.)

-Grillby likes the taste of human, but there are certain unspoken rules he works by, like other shopkeeps. For him, as long as you pay your bill and follow his one rule (no water (tears do not count as water)) then you're free from his harvest. If a human came in looking for shelter, he'd leave them be.

-Gaster was a brilliant mind, and Pretender took a lot of influences from him over the years. Despite his death, his image and memory lives on in the mannerisms and knowledge of those who knew him. In the grief left in his shadow. In the young skeleton who imitates him partially every day because he made his brother happy a long time ago.

Various Undertale Headcanons

Felt like doing this. It's mostly about minor characters and NPCs

The Froggit you speak to about the yellow names is friends with the ruins dummy. That's how it can get the entire underground to change their spare names from yellow to white or pink, despite being unable to leave the Ruins. It just asks the Dummy to tell the folk outside. That Froggit is also one of the only people that know they exist. Most others don't realize that dummy has a ghost living in it

The last non ghost, human, or flower to leave the Ruins were Whimsalot, Final Froggit, and Astigmatism. They had to 'face the horrible monster that guards the gate to Snowdin' to leave (Fought Toriel until she opened the door for them. Toriel didn't do much fighting). Whimsalot feels a lot of guilt for leaving Whimsun behind

Crystal (Snowdrake's mom) was born incredibly weak and was always bound for a short life. The reason she fell in love with Snowy's dad is cause he joked around about her condition. Those around him thought his jokes were in poor taste, but Crystal appreciated someone making light of her situation instead of just treating her with pity and sadness. The jokes sounding mean to Crystal was part of the reason a rift grew between him and Snowdrake

Ice Cap's family has a strong tradition of making ice clothing. It started off as a way to make armor easily, but later just became for cosmetics. Ice Cap's love of its own hat comes from them wanting acknowledgment and attention from their family. Its hard mode counterpart would be called Ice Sage. Probably look like a wizard

Noelle's mom grew up in Snowdin forest, far from Snowdin Town. Gyftrot is an older relative of hers, and like them, she enjoys solitude. Her outgoing husband managed to break through her shell a bit, but after his death, she went back to being a hermit.

Noelle and Dess often sneak off into town together. Going off to get them back home is one of the only reasons Carol ever leaves the house. The townsfolk are slightly intimidated by her

Assuming Dess is around Burgerpants' age and Noelle is around Frisk's age, they'd be about 19 and 12 respectively. Might make them closer to 17 and 13 just to they weren't born so far apart

The red bird in Grillby's is Berdly's mom. Berdly himself is in Hotland for school and to work with Ms. Boom, so they usually don't see each other often. Berdly does call a lot though, red bird telling him about the goings on and gossip in the rest of the underground. I'm unsure what became of Berdly's dad

Alvin is a professor Hotland University, teaching history with an interest in religion and legends

Waterfall has a lot of farms we don't see. Aaron lives on one, but was always more interested in flexing and working on his muscles than actually working. His brother did most of the work around the farm until he fell down. In Deltarune, his brother's still alive, and Aaron is a little jealous of his physique

Loren and Rainy kid are friends

Catti's hair is natrually purple, like her mom's. Catty helped dye it black with a pink streak

Resetgore Character Height Chart Version 1

I'll be updating/adding more of the characters to this as time goes on. Left Papyrus out for now cause I want to add him and Undyne to the height chart together.

Here are Resetgore Asgore, Sans, and Grillby heights. Ignore the numbers on the side as I had to move the lines down and forgot to change those. I'll need to remember to do that later.

Asgore being the tallest as he stands at 9 feet tall (not counting his upper set of horns), Grillby standing at 6 feet 6 inches, while Sans stands at 4 feet 9 inches.

When drawing Sans I tried to make him look like a cat hissing with his mouth open and claws out. He's mouth came out a little strange so I will need to work on that a little. I also forgot to add this little note to the chart there. That the feather fluff of Sans' hoodie poofs up when angry. You can also see there by Sans' hands that I was playing around with how I want his claws to look. From using normal cat bone/claws to something else. Another thing that I'll be playing around with trying to figure out.

For Grillby I so far am getting closer to what I want his clothing to look like. Just need to play around with the dark coloration of the piece that wraps around his stomach there. The crystal smokes (the crystals that Sans' puts in his smoker) are one of Grillby's favorite snacks. As the smokes while they have no taste to others, being a fire elemental the crystal smokes come in a large variety of flavors to them. Since their flames are burning the ingredients allowing them to taste the flavors.

Asgore looks very smug there as I'm planning to have the three of them be together. They won't be a thing when the world first changes and he's playing around his his new Reset abilities and learning to use them sparingly as to not get confused/mix up events. But when he does get with them, he is very smug about it at times. Also your able to see Asgore's lion tail in this image ^^. I also made some small changes to Asgore's hair color there.

It also feels like for some reason Asgore doesn't look as bulky as he's suppose to, but that's most likely cause of the angle I've drawn him at.

Hoping to have somthing ready soon, but I've already resumed work on Furytale. Figured I'd make a list of things I'd like to do for the AU before the year ends

-Redesign some characters, including Asgore, Toriel, Grillby, and (maybe) Papyrus

-Map layout. I'd like to establish what this AUs underground looks like and include new areas, like a large crystal cavern system for the Waterfall area

-Establishing a PROPER timeline of events for even pacing through the story

-A comic cover. For the love of god, I'd like a proper comic cover before the end of 2024

-Making Furytale's own seperate blog so everything can be found in one clean spot anytime

-Remaking the Furytale discord server/updates to X and Deviantart

There's a lot to do, and a lot to keep me excited to release the story. The comic itself might not start until 2025, but hopefully, i can prepare for that day by finishing some other stuff before then. Thank younfor your patience :D

Jewel - Swapfell Facet Papyrus

Reposting from SkelekinsOld. I've been wanting to talk about him and his bro for a bit. Fun Fact: before Moss & Mycelum I was going to have my first fic star Jewel (and may still do that one).

I don't have his bro done but Im going to post up his first concepts.

Quick Info:

LVL causes monsters to grow in his home. Jewel's refusal to hurt others resulted in him being extremely small compared to other monsters.

Him and his brother have a close relationship with Muffet referring to her as Big Sis. This relationship extends to Muffet's spiders who Jewel enjoys hanging out with since a lot of them are also unleveled.

Doesn't use magic attacks. Instead sets traps which is easier for him to do. Attack magic is physically painful for him. He gets around using blue-attacks with the notion that he is not trying to cause harm but instead stop his opponent so he can flee.

Right socket will bleed purple with magic use (even slight). Has a stained silk handkerchief gifted from Muffet to clean up.

Plays a kazoo like a troll

Due to stunted growth his magic is irregular, especially if he uses it. Crushed green magic helps him regulate it without his body tearing itself apart. He bonds with his bro through rolling his weekly supply.

All fire in the underground is controlled by Grillby (Magby). Lighters are too expensive so he uses Firefly Matches.

He's never been farther than Waterfall (general story takes place before Final Child. By time of Final Child he would be Judge and have met the Queen.)

Collared by his brother - Collar is multifunctional. Its locked with a jewel crafted directly from brother's magic. The collar allows his brother to maintain a perimeter of surveillance around Papyrus to keep him safe. Others can feel if they enter the "danger zone." If Papyrus needs him Sans can access Papyrus' shortcuts through the collar to shortcut to him. Sans cannot shortcut on his own.

Papyrus' is skilled with shortcuts. Its not uncommon for him to make many quick shortcuts in a panic or to scout distances. Panic would see him shortcuttng around a room/area like a bouncy ball to search for an escape. He still has to either see or know where he’s going -> so the mini shortcuts can help him to pre-scout and also scale things like trees. Watching him is probabaly aimiliar to seeing a skipping stone.

Their underground lacks in precious metals resulting in use of crystal instead. As a nod to Cash/Money; Jewels is named after their worlds currency - jewels. (I imagine gems shaped like different sided dice with a hole in the center to hang on a string. The different shapes would help those who can't see).

Fire bones are a fire-skeletal type bitty, colors vary on AU type. Ranks vary however these presented bitties are Alphas. While most of their body seems more flame then body, their inner body is skeletal, this is visible in the hands and tail, if they lose burning power (which is simply energy, food or supplements, and sleep correct this.) their flames snuff out, leaving a skeletal body behind. generally they prefer to be in their flaming form. Fire bone bitties require coal, fire wood, or fuel of some kind to consume, but are happy with dried meat for substitute, they cannot drink water but can drink alcohol as it burns up, they do not get drunk off it. while water will not kill them it is recommended you don't get them close to it and substitute baths for dust or fireplace baths. Fire bones are happy to wear clothes but generally enjoy being mostly bare, make sure the fabric is soft. they like metals and crystals and will happily accept any of any quality. - Rose gold and Butter golds tend to be on the quieter side, they tend to enjoy quiet activities but do not mind the chaos of everyday life. Rose golds often come off as elegant but are quick to correct misbehavior, they are almost disciplinary but tend to avoid being rough as they prefer to be the enforcer in a gentler context. They enjoy soft colors and enjoy sweets to a fault. they are actually mostly mute, majority of words they can manage are often names of their pack and certain commands, however they often uses gestures to communicate. Butter golds are more brooding and stoic, they are more play then they are disciplinary but do not tolerate violence or bad behavior that could harm others. they do not like being seen as harsh but they know they may seen so at time. They're capable of speech but prefer to allow actions to speak for themselves. They're quite good for advanced and misbehaving bitties as they'll place structure and make sure they remain calm, they handle unruly bitties quite well are able to coax them back in line after asserting themselves, which after some time will be as easy as a look. They do quite well with Grillbys and Skeletal bitties. May not be ideal with water based bitties and floweys. They are fine with Goat bitties but may be tricky.

Do be aware that these bitties are often poached, you may find some in the streets, they may be missing tails, at times limbs as they're seen as good luck. if you find these bitties they may have become feral or skittish, they WILL burn you, so if you're intending on taking them to safety or your local rescue, get heat resistance gloves, a thick towel and wrap them in it like you're swaddling a infant, they'll calm but will growl and hiss at you the entire time. you can calm them further by putting them in a roomy den and leaving food there, make it's dim and not bright. it will take a good while to get the comfortable but if you need further help, feel free to contact us. the removal of tails will, like a Mawtee, realign their rank, this applies for Alphas mostly as they're the stronger rank.

Hyposwap Green is purely an imaginative project and won't be a game, but if it was...

Since Muffet and Grillby are swapped, instead of buying snacks from spiders, Chara will instead be carrying fire sprites in some old lantern. They don't have nightvision and, unlike most monsters, they didn't spend enough time in the dark to get used to it. They've brought a flashlight with them when they've ran away from home, but it's unfortunately the shittiest flashlight known to man even with fresh batteries. Chara would either find a lantern and start carrying it around or be given one by Asgore. The lantern would be lit by fire sprites, Grillby's fellow fire monsters who have gotten stuck in the RUINs. They don't care much about leaving, really, but Grillby would love to bring the rest of his family to Hotland so they could thrive there. Chara could gather several sprites, each giving them a lot more vision in the RUINs. Once Chara leaves, however, the crystals lining the Underground walls would help with the lighting a lot. Should Chara ever encounter Grillby, they'd only need to open the lantern and release the fire sprites to end it.

Chara, scared as they are of the new place they fell into, would still be rather curious. Especially of talking, seemingly glowing flowers.
