Just a drabble that came to me after watching the last few seconds of The Boys Season 3 teaser trailer...

PART 2 IS HERE

The room is tense, silent save for the quiet hum of machinery in the lab and the occasional drip from the thawing in the cryo chamber. In the half light you watch him, still unmoving, ready to quickly retreat and allow the guards to step forward and take him down. There are six of them, all holding guns loaded with tranquilizer darts strong enough to drop a charging rhino. This man is far more dangerous than that.

One of his hands has been freed from its restraints, and you are now waiting for him to become alert enough to remove the rest. It’s too dark in the chamber to see much, but when he does move, it surprises you, sends your heart into your throat. He reaches across to tear loose the restraint from his other arm, grabbing the wires and IV in his large hand and yanking them free. His hair and beard are long and wild from the time he has spent in here, and as he slowly raises his head, his lips parted and his eyes dark and feral, he stares directly at you.

You fight back the urge to turn and run. Vought wanted your scientific expertise in cryogenics, and the money was just too tempting to turn down. You wonder fleetingly if that job at the university was really so bad. He takes a step forward, out into the room, his shoulders barely clearing the doorway of the chamber. You force your feet to stay planted as he approaches you, stopping about two feet away as one of the guards barks out an order to halt.

Your eyes follow a drop of water from his hair down his well-muscled chest, and farther. He is naked, a perfect specimen, a gladiator reborn - taut, glowing skin over smooth, toned muscle, and he continues to stare at you as your eyes drift downward, his only movement a slight roll of one shoulder. About forty-five minutes later, the door opens. Still naked, Soldier Boy slowly strides into the room, and the guard waits for your instructions. “Close the door. I’ll call if I need you.” He nods, pulling the door shut behind him.

Your patient stands there, his eyes back on you, waiting. You are afraid to look him in the eye. His hair has been cut and combed, his beard trimmed close - he is stunning to look at and he knows it. You grab a latex glove, and as you snap it into place, he walks to the exam table, bending over slightly and bracing his hands on the sides, waiting. You try not to think about how perfectly he is formed as you perform the necessary task, remove the glove and dispose of it, then ask him to turn and face you. You are the doctor, if anyone should feel humiliated, it should be him, but he just stares at you with a smug little curve at the corner of his lips as you reach between his legs to cup his balls. At least he isn’t still hard. “Please turn your head and cough.” He complies, and you remove your hand, gesturing towards the table with your head as you turn to wash your hands. “Please have a seat.”

You grab the blood pressure cuff and slide it onto his arm, acutely aware of the power there as he obediently allows you to manipulate him into position so you can take his pulse. It is strong and steady, just like his unflinching gaze on you. You remove the cuff and set it aside, taking your stethoscope from around your neck. You listen to his heart, then glance up at his face and say, “Please take a deep breath for me.”

He leans forward slightly, his face almost touching the side of your head, and inhales, long and slow. When he exhales, it’s warm, ruffling your hair a little, and your heart skips a beat. You remove the stethoscope and step back, not missing the fact that he is half hard again, his dark eyes glowing with amusement.

“All right, I think we’re done here. You may go and get dressed.”

Smoothing down your hair and passing through the living room, Seokjin winked at you whilst cutting vegetables. You ducked your head moving along quickly. Stepping into office and gently closing the door, he was sitting on his couch hunched over his head resting on his interlocked fingers, elbows perched on his knees.

“Take a seat. I’m not mad at you baby, I am just stressed with work and I have been meaning to speak to you about this for a while now” he said after noticing you tense up he looked up with an apologetic smile, you walked and sat in the armchair tucking your knees under you and turning to him. “Your boss said you were a little worried about some things, especially about intimacy”

You didn’t know what to say so you nodded your head looking down, he reached over and took your hand. “We don’t want to do anything you don’t want, if we do something you don’t like. Tell us and we will stop”

He covered his mouth and cleared his throat trying to collect himself once more. “Okay and when you are thinking of a relationship with us, are you thinking of an open honest one where everyone knows everyone’s business, or behind closed doors, where your intimate moments are private between you and your partner”

“Open and Honest, unless anyone is specifically against it. I don’t want there to be any room for doubt, I don’t want any of you left out of the loop of anything. Also a small part of me would like to share intimate moments with multiple partners” Namjoon blushed and you did too when you realized how that sounded. “Not just sex, as in things like cuddling, I don’t want one of you to see me cuddling another and feeling like you can’t join in”

“I see that is good to know” he said and typing on the computer and rubbing his temples. Sitting up once more his eyes on yours “Is there anything you don’t want us to do, I read online we should find out what our partner likes and compile a list for better understanding”

“That’s very thorough of you, do you have a list? For that to work we must all compile a list, make a sheet of paper with a ‘yes’, ‘maybe’ and ‘no’ column” He blinked agreeing with your statement. You headed out to dinner and ate in silence except Jungkook who was talking about his day at work and Yoongi who was asking him about different parts of his work.

“Why is it that Yoongi was the most talkative?” Jungkook frowned helping you put away the dishes and Namjoon stepped out with paper and pens and he called you all to sit back down and explained. We were to each write out our preferences on the paper, into columns of things we want, things we might want and things we don’t want. “Like what hyung”

Namjoon blushed trying to explain and you began writing forming your list and Jungkook leaned over to look at your sheet and ask you what certain things meant and you blushed explaining and Jungkook’s neck and ears grew rather red.

Summary: Bucky and Y/N spend his birthday with Y/N’s family, introducing them for the first time. It’s all going well... until it isn’t.

A/N: I wanted to write something quick for Bucky’s birthday and found this idea in my notes from September that I thought was perfect for the occasion! Happy birthday to Bucky Barnes! I hope you all enjoy this!

Six months. Y/N and Bucky have been together for over six months, which is why the pair thought it was about time that Bucky met her family. Of course, neither of them anticipated receiving an invitation from them first.

“Why don’t you and your boyfriend come and stay with us for the week?” her mother suggested during her biweekly check in call. “Your cousin just had the baby a couple of months ago and it would be nice to have you around for a bit.”

Y/N had no intention of going, especially with Bucky’s birthday being this coming week. Figuring that Bucky would want to spend his birthday at home at the compound with the rest of the team, she decides to merely mention the invitation in passing. When she does, though, he lights up.

“Really? They want us to visit? And for the whole week?” He’s like a puppy dog.

“Yes,” she tells him, “but we don’t have to go.”

A puzzled look overtakes Bucky’s features. “Why wouldn’t we? Do you not want to go? Do you not want me to meet your family?”

Y/N’s heart breaks as she realizes what he’s thinking.

“No, Buck, of course not!” She assures him, taking his hands in hers. “I’d love to take you home for a visit. I just didn’t want to pressure you into going because your birthday is this week and I figured you would want to spend it here with everyone.”

Bucky lets out a relieved sigh, squeezing her hands gently as he smiles.

“I’ll have plenty more birthdays to spend here, doll. I’d love to go home with you this week.”

She stares up at him, wordlessly admiring the easy grin on his face and the way the sunlight glimmers in his river blue eyes. He pulls her close and wraps his arms around her.

“I guess I should call my mother then, huh?” Y/N mumbles against his chest with a laugh.

He pulls away just enough to look down at her, still smiling like he was looking at the most beautiful sunset he’s ever seen.

“I’ll start packing,” he says before kissing the crown of her head and making his way to their shared bedroom.

The next morning, the two are on their way to Y/N’s hometown via Tony’s private jet. After a few hours and a nice nap against Bucky’s arm, the plane finally lands. Y/N had insisted that they meet her parents at their house rather than having them pick them up for a couple of reasons—one of them being that they would wonder how the hell they flew there on a private jet. It’s not that she never told them about her job with the Avengers. They just didn’t know that she’s dating one of them.

When the two arrive at Y/N’s parents’ house, they run out to greet their daughter and her boyfriend. She’s wrapped up in a mama bear hug within seconds, followed by a kiss on the cheek from her father. Bucky takes his time getting out of the car, suddenly nervous. Noticing him nervously tug on the glove on his left hand, Y/N rushes to his side and laces her fingers through his gloved ones.

“Mom. Dad. This is Bucky,” she tells them. “Bucky, these are my parents.”

Bucky smiles that positively blinding smile at them before reaching out to shake their hands. Rather than shaking his hand, though, Y/N’s mother pulls him into a hug as well.

“It’s so lovely to finally meet you, dear. We’ve heard so much about you,” she says as she pulls away. She likes him already, and they haven’t even stepped inside the house yet.

“It’s great to meet you too, Mrs.–”

“Oh no, none of that Mrs. crap. You can call me by my first name,” she tells him, making Bucky chuckle.

He shakes her father’s hand next, and he, too, insists that Bucky call him by his first name.

“Your cousin said she and her husband will be coming by with the baby tomorrow, Y/N. Her brother and his wife and kids are coming as well, and your aunt might stop by, too,” Y/N’s mother mentions at dinner that night.

“Oh, tomorrow? I thought they would be coming later in the week.”

“Is there a problem with tomorrow?” her father asks.

“I mentioned to you on the phone the other day that Bucky’s birthday is tomorrow. It would be a little rude if we had guests that he’s never met, don’t you think?”

“Oh, dear, I completely forgot. I’m so sorry, Bucky. I’ll tell them to come on Wednesday instead,” her mother assures him.

“No, no, it’s not a problem at all. Don’t reschedule. I’m perfectly fine with it.”

“Are you sure, Buck?” Y/N asks, placing a hand on top of his.

“Positive.”

“Okay then. What kind of cake would you like, Bucky? Unless you want pie instead. I’ll bake whatever you’d like tomorrow,” offers her mother.

“You don’t have to go through the trouble—”

“I insist.”

Y/N smiles, knowing that Bucky wouldn’t give her mother an answer, and that her mother will not rest until she receives one.

“How about that plum pie you used to make when I was little, Mom? I think Bucky would love that,” she suggests, and she hears Bucky’s quiet gasp at the mention of plum pie.

“Would you like that, Bucky?”

“I- um, if it’s not too much trouble,” he stammers.

“Not at all,” she insists, looking pleased. “I’ll go to the farmer’s market tomorrow morning.”

“How old are you going to be, if you don’t mind me asking,” Y/N’s father asks as before taking another bite of his food.

“Well, I was born in 1917.” His voice trails off at the end with a laugh, and her father chokes for a moment. Bucky suddenly wants to crawl out of his own skin.

When he’s okay again, he turns and glances between Bucky and his daughter.

“1970 you said?” her mother asks.

“No, mom. 1917,” Y/N tells her.

“See, you say that, but he clearly is not—”

“I was cryogenically stored for several decades,” Bucky blurts out.

“What?” Y/N’s parents say in unison, both clearly confused.

“You know who Captain America is, right?” Bucky asks them, and they both nod their heads.

“Well, I’m—”

“James Buchanan Barnes,” her dad whispers, and Bucky beings anticipating the backlash he’ll get for his formerly being the Winter Soldier.

“I’m so sorry, son,” is all he says.

“Excuse me?” Bucky asks, puzzled. “Sir, what are you apologizing for?”

“I can’t even imagine what you went through,” he says, not quite meeting his eyes.

“I- Thank you.” Y/N can see the weight leave his shoulders, and she presses a kiss to his cheek.

“Y/N, why didn’t you tell us he was an Avenger?” her father asks.

“I just didn’t want you to treat him differently,” she explains as she grabs Bucky’s gloved hand and leans in close to him.

“Do you wanna take this off?” she whispers, and the warmth of her breath on his neck soothes him.

He doesn’t speak, just takes his hand from hers to remove the black, leather glove. The black and gold glitter and shine in the light. The couple both glance at the vibranium limb before grinning at each other. Y/N’s mother beams as she looks on at her daughter and her boyfriend.

"Aren’t they such a beautiful couple?” she asks her husband, who’s lips are curled into a small smile. He nods and stands from his seat, gathering his dish and taking it to the kitchen. He signals to his wife, who has finished her meal as well, to do the same.

“Let’s give them some alone time,” he whispers to her as he sees Y/N bring Bucky’s fingertips to her lips.

After about two minutes, the pair notice the absence of Y/N’s parents and begin clearing the table. Her parents join them once again, helping them clean up while making much more casual conversation.

The following day, Y/N’s cousins bring their kids over, and they all adore Bucky—even the baby. He lets her niece brain flowers into his hair, and he races her nephew and picks him up when he asks. The baby grabs onto his vibranium thumb, which makes him incredibly nervous, and when Y/N’s cousin asks if he wants to hold the baby girl, he’s scared out of his mind.

“It’s just- with the arm-” he stammers and stumbles over his words. “I just don’t wanna hurt her,” he sputters out.

“Bucky, baby, you’re not gonna hurt her,” Y/N assures him. “Here,” she says as she lifts her new niece into her arms and gently passes her into his. He’s visibly trembling as he cradles the baby in his arms, at least until Y/N places a reassuring hand on his shoulder. He talks to the baby, introducing himself in a funny voice that makes her giggle. She grabs at his hair, which is just out of reach in the messy braid. Y/N looks on at him holding the baby, and her heart melts.

Later that night, Y/N’s mom brings out two freshly baked plum pies. Upon seeing them, Bucky grows excited. Back when Y/N found out that Bucky’s favorite fruit was plums, she told him about her mother’s legendary plum pie. He never thought he would be able to try it himself, though.

They all sing happy birthday to him. It may not be the team surrounding him—the family he’s grown into over the years—but it’s a new one that he feels fully accepted into. He blows out the candles in the center of each pie and grins broadly when Y/N asks if he made a wish. Wrapping his arms around her waist, he pulls her close and kisses her softly. When he pulls away, he presses small, gentle kisses to her forehead and the tip of her nose.

“I already have everything I need,” he whispers to her, and she flashes him that smile that illuminates his whole world.

“Happy birthday, Buck,” she whispers back to him before bringing her lips to his once again in a kiss sweeter her mother’s plum pie.
