After the fact, Orlando couldn’t tell you what had been the chain of events that had lead him to the red lights district at eight PM on a Friday night. He also couldn’t tell you why he had only realized it after he had seen the third woman with an impossibly short miniskirt.

Maybe it was because he had just finished a job and this was the closest district to where his client wanted to pick up their files. That sounded most plausible, because Orlando wouldn’t have come here on his own volition. He was just a little too exhausted to think at the moment. He had been up for three days with only ten hours of sleep while he had been on the job, shadowing a corrupt CEO to help his client unearth the CEO’s off-the-book deals. During the three days, there had been so many cases of money laundering, bribery and sexual harassment that Orlando had barely had any time to sleep while he documented all of it. His client had been very happy with the results, though, and paid handsomely.

Delano had many names. Most of his clients didn’t even give him a name, but they didn’t talk to him much anyway, other than the bare minimum. Some gave him a moniker that only barely counted as a name, like “cumdumpster” or “crybitch” or “that fuck”. Some gave him names that were actually, you know, names. Some asked if he wanted the name to start with a certain letter, to which he always said D. This had lead to him having a long list of names starting with D and a shorter list of other letters. Daniel, David, Dean, Diego, Dominic, Damien, Dennis, Delano had heard most names starting with D, except his real one. Which is how he wanted it.

That’s how he kept his real work separate from his after-hours work. By day, his colleagues at the casino had no idea that Delano did sex work in the evenings and by night, his clients had no idea he was a security guard at a casino. Which is how he wanted it.
