nell stared at the group around her, anxiety spiking through her veins. it was too loud, too bright. it brought her back to her wedding with arthur--finding out theo was a lesbian, luke not being there. her marriage to arthur. watching him die on the floor as she held him helplessly. all she could do was stand in a corner, feeling utterly helpless as flashes of her past went through her mind. god, she needed air. hastily making her way through the room towards the balcony, nell had been so desperate to get out that she nearly ran into someone. “i’m so sorry.” she apologized, focusing on steadying her breathing as she looked up at them. “i wasn’t watching where i was going.” a lame excuse, but it was the truth.
