Critical Role sub ITA

CR Transcription Signal Boost
Y’all.
I just gave my first few hours to @criticalroletranscriptions, and I had such a great time!!
I signed into one slot just to try it out, did the middle of Liam’s quest in The Last of Us Warner Brothers Studios, and I accidently did two slots I was having such a great time!
Honestly, if you have any time, give a little to this awesome project! A 5 min slot takes an hour, and is flexible! Its really easy to get the hang of. And if you don't have an hour, you could edit a chunk or help people out with [Jenga] - where they could understand what was said (I had that with Taliesin’s car name, couldn't figure it out!).
And if you speak/are learning another language, head over to @crtranslate and give them a look! I’m going to attempt to put my French to good use but they really need proof-readers!
tl;dr @crtranslate and @criticalroletranscriptions are awesome - help them out if you can!

As someone who's been out of school and just came home from overseas after 4 years, I can terribly relate to this comic so much.
While I'm still able to understand Bahasa Melayu, I could barely carry a proper conversation in BM anymore (besides speaking it brokenly).
I am helping out an international volunteer group in Mandarin Chinese translation, I was heartbroken that I can't really contribute to the Bahasa Melayu team, which has only like 1 other member in it too. My level of BM wasn't up to professional translation levels.
Now that I'm trying to rebuild my life again back home, and with MCO going on, I guess there couldn't be any better time to rekindle with the language again.
Thank you so much again for such a touching comic, it has definitely motivated me to try.
A comic about my complicated feelings for Bahasa Malaysia, my country’s national language. Happy Merdeka to all my fellow Malaysians.

Now that we know CR kickstarters can get funded have you guys considered asking CR Official to start a kickstarter for funding translations? You guys do a massive amount of difficult and extremely important labor that should be (and now definitely could be) compensated I'm willing to be that other fans would be willing to fund some translations even if the cast and crew can't
Thank you for your kind suggestion. We’re very grateful to see the community value our work so much.
However, we have no plans to crowdfund the translating work that we do. Introducing money into volunteer work, especially for an international team like ours creates many difficulties that we cannot afford.
Spreading more CR love everywhere for free is our greatest inspiration at the current stage. Thank you again for your support.

So what is the actual process for translating the show? I'm not seeing a FAQ page anywhere and feel a little lost about what's even going on here 😅
Okay, I am sorry t took us so long to get back to you, your question is a bit broad and we were not sure how to answer it. First, we do have an F.A.Q, right here: https://crtranslate.tumblr.com/FAQ (bit.ly/CRT_FAQdoc for mobile users)and you might find all of your answers there.
Second, the technical how-to is pretty well developed in our translation instructions which you will find here: bit.ly/CRT_InstructionsBut while I’m here, let me get through the general system we have.Volunteer translator will translate the episodes (CR campaign 1 and/or 2; One Shots; Handbooker Helper) by working on five-minute chunks - which can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours to translate, depending on the chunk, language and proficiency of the translator. Then another translator will come in and double check the work and give pointer wherever they find it pertinent. And after that someone (ideally a third translator, native in the target language) will go through the chunk one last time making sure it all flows well and that there are no grammar or spelling errors left. This is where the translators' job ends. The CRT staff, usually the team’s supervisor, will export the translated subtitles and we’ll send them across to Critical Role or Geek&Sundry depending on the project in question.
For practicality reasons, the translation documents live on google sheets and most of the translation work is usually done directly there. But nothing forbids you to work offline and then upload your chunk onto the sheet once it is done. All the links to all the sheets are on what we call the “Master Link List”.
I hope this answers your question·s if you have any more of them and neither the instructions nor the F.A.Q answers them you can send us another ask, we’ll be quicker next time I promise, an email or contact us on social media (links to all of those are pretty much everywhere. Or even better, join our Discord where you’ll be able to discuss with the staff or other translators directly. I guarantee speedy answers there.
See you soon and happy translating.Bill.

This (last few) Month(s) in Translation, July 2018
Boy, it has been a while, sorry about that. Let’s get all caught up, shall we?
Translation Status
French and Spanish translators have started working on C2E6: Howling mines, so come and join them.
If you speak German or Portuguese though, there are still slots available for C2E4: Disparate Pieces, while Italian and Polish speaker can already work on C2E3: The Midnight Chase.
The Chinese team is having some trouble keeping up and are still on C2E2: A Show of Scrutiny, so come and give them a hand
If none of these suit you, there are still spots available for C2E2: A Show of Scrutiny in Russian and Korean, or on C2E1: Curious Beginnings in the Other Languages.
Join the Team
Are you a Multilingual Critter, who likes to type, likes a little brain-teaser and have a few hours to spare? You can join the team by translating a slot in your favorite language.
Just give a read to the Translation Instructions, find your episode on the Master Link-List, sign up for a five-minute slot and dive in!
And don’t hesitate to join the conversation on our Slack team.
Uploads and Releases
While I was failing to upload these the rest of the team didn’t wait for me and we had a pretty active couple of months despite finals season.
The French team took the crown by releasing captions for C2E3, C2E4, while subs for C2E5 are in the pipes (you can get the .srt already right here). As well as keeping up with the backlog with captions for C1E8 out on YouTube very soon.
But the other team didn’t slack either with Spanish captions for C2E4, German ones for C2E2, and Italian and Polish subtitles for C2E1 while the ones for Russian should be up very soon.
And to finish up these busy few months of captioning a courageous Swedish translator offered us captions forThe Story of Vox Machina.
You can find all of those as closed-captions of YouTube or as .srt files here.
Tackle the Backlog
We’re focusing on keeping up with the new campaign, but if you’ve got even more time to give, come and help translate the Vox Machina campaign!
Everything you need is in the Master Link-List.
Transcribing
Tired of trying to figure out what a beholder should be called in [insert language here]? You can help @crtranscript figure out what Matt was saying as that blue creature on the last episode.
Got a question? Check out the F.A.Q or send us an ask or a tweet @CR_translate.

The Contest is over and we have our winners, but first, let us go through a little leaderboard to celebrate the awesome translators who threw themselves at this challenge and made cake captions out of it.
First, in two weeks, 21 translators from 8 teams translated a cumulated 8 hours of captions on Liam’s One-Shot: The Song of the Lorelei.
Team-wise the German team leads with 125 minutes translated - or 25 5 minutes slots -, followed with the Dutch team - 105 minutes or 21 slots. And special mention to the Swedish team who arrived third with 90 minutes translated, or 18 slots, but edited 12 of these slots - which would put them largely ahead with 30 total completed slots.
On the individual level robirb (Italian) distinguished themselves by translating 15 slots on their own, closely followed by MelissaDebruyn (Dutch) with 14 slots, Melvalan (Swedish/Finnish) with 13 slots - 5 of which were editing - and Trischa (Swedish) with 12 slots - 7 of which were editing.
Because we were floored by the feat, the CRTranslate staff decided to gift four of their pins to these 3 overachievers.
A big round of internet applause to them and all the other translators who worked so hard during these two weeks.
Now, the winners of the raffle are: magivixx, artiges_kind, Matvadand, thesanne and _pqur
All 8 winners will be contacted very shortly to get the contact info Geeky Clean will need to send the pins.
For those who didn’t get the chance to compete or win their Euro Critter Pin, these and many others (UK, USA, Australian, Canadian, Pride and more) are available on Geeky Cleans store right now!
Thank you again to Geeky Clean for providing the prizes for this first CRTranslate Translating Contest. And remember, when in doubt, go for the dick joke!

Meet the Team
Ever wondered who runs CRTranslate? Who answers your tweets and DMs? Who makes sure that all our tech stuff runs smoothly? And most importantly, who had the truly amazing idea of translating Critical Role into NINETEEN other languages? Well, lest meet the team:
Willow - France - @willsowl
Gnome Coordinator & Founder
Had a crazy idea once when they were bored, then it kinda blew-up and here we are. Love languages, organizing things, rambling and to make everything unnecessarily complicated for themselves. Sometimes they translate for the French team too.
Monique - Canada - @monique
Halfling Coordinator & Tech wizard
Came to practice her French, stayed for the great people and the great times. When she’s not editing French translations, she’s setting up sheets for all the languages. Your go-to for all of your technical questions!
Cathrine - Denmark - @adarkhufflepuff
High elf Social Media Manager
Wanted to contribute, but didn’t have time to translate. So, she settled on social media. Mainly runs the twitter, but also oversees the tumblr and occasionally the facebook. Got any questions about social media, our translations or do you simply want to share a funny quote that you had to translate? Send them her way!
Arymes - France - @arymes
Human (well, we need at least one?) Supervisor - French
After a long life spent on various battlegrounds, we all need some rest. And telling stories is a good way to have a great time. Restez un instant et écoutez…
Dash - Brazil - @brandonzed
Half-orc Supervisor - Potuguese
Already spends their entire day working in front of a computer so thought that a couple more hours wouldn’t hurt. They enjoy making sure the spreadsheets are colour-coded correctly and is constantly confused about everything.
Federwald - Germany - @federwald_CRT
Dwarf Supervisor - German
In love with language, RPGs, excessive world building and colour-coded spreadsheets, so where else would she be? Here for anyone who wants to experience the joys and sorrows of the Zemnian language.
Gabi - Spain - @gabicho
Levistus Tiefling Supervisor - Spanish
Loves languages, and thought it could be a good way to give back to the community. They quickly found themselves within a big group of wonderful people, and never looked back. Intimately and intensely dreads every time Sam opens his mouth.
Karolina - Poland - @Karo-Hug
*Kenku* Supervisor - Polish
“Nothing in life is to be feared; it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more so that we may fear less.”—Marie Curie
OltrePensiero - Italy - @OltrePensiero
Tiefling Supervisor - Italian
Came with the intent of lending a hand to fellow Italian critters, they found a table set for seven, but the house empty. Unsure if lost in an old dwarven tale, they keep the door open and wait, hoping that someone will return or that someone new will find their way into the story.
ViroValkyrie - Hong Kong - @valkyrielewis
Fire Genasi Supervisor - Chinese
Took up an idea to bring in more Chinese love to the Critter community and become the fool intending to move mountains ever since.

We are happy to announce the first CRTranslate Translating Contest, organized in partnership with Geeky Clean for the release of the Critter Pin series. After the success of the UK Critter pin at MCM Comic Con, Geeky Clean decided to embrace the Critters from around the world with this new series of Critter Pins
To celebrate, the team over at CRTranslate decided to organize a translation contest to give out 5 ‘Euro Critter’ Pins offered by Geeky Clean. The principle is simple: starting this 5 Monday, November at 00:01 CET, translation sheets for a Critical Role One-Shot, will be available. Each translation spot completed by the 18th 23:59 will enter you in the Pin raffle and give you a chance of receiving one of the new ‘Euro Critter’ Pins from Geeky Clean.
For more details on the rules and conditions of the contest refer to the Contest Rules under the break.
RULES:
This Contest is only open to residents with a European postal address.
Only one pin can be won per contestant.
Both translation and editing slots are valid entries for the raffle.
Only slots completed between November 5, 2018, 00:01 CET and November 18, 2018, 23:59 CET will be entered in the raffle.
CRTranslate’s staff reserve themselves the discretion to add pins to the raffle if participation is deemed high.
Winners will be selected randomly by CRTranslate’s staff and announced as soon as possible after the end of the contest.
We ask you to register your slots using a valid email address, twitter handle or an active discord username which we can use to contact you.
Were you unable to provide us with your email address within 12 hours of the winner’s announcement and/or us contacting you, your prize would be handed out to another contestant.
By entering the raffle you agree to give out your email address to Geeky Clean so that they may contact you in order to ship your prize.
Slots may be checked for proper completion, following CRTranslate’s translation standards. (No missing lines, no abuse of JENGAs, no rushed job.) Assessment of proper completion will be left to CRTranslate’s staff’s discretion. Slots judged incomplete will be forfeited from the raffle.
Any attempt at blatant fraud (such as entering multiple usernames, registering multiple slots without completing them, ...) makes you liable to disqualification from the raffle.

Hey, I just translated a shit ton of content in Dutch, and I'm really enjoying it. I did, however, notice that there is no main editor or anything like that. Would that position still be open?
Hey, thanks for the amazing work!No the “spot” is definitely still open if you are interested in taking that role or help organize the Dutch team in general, come on our Slack team it is where we organize and discuss all these sorts of things.
