He chuckled softly, eyes staying on Kira's as she continued her urging, if he could even call it that. He loved how she cared about his health and didn't let him get too carried away when he visited. Some of the rare moments he relaxed was during her visits.

A small smirk crossed his lips as she let her hands roam his chest. He was happy Changsheng was currently napping on his desk near the candle curled up. His own hands rested on her lower back, keeping her steady. He purred into the soft kisses as she spoke.

"Well who am I to disappoint you? Certainly no gentlemen if I don't give you the care that you need as well."

He smiled, returning each kiss and holding her even closer as she wrapped her arms around his neck. There was a soft hum as he pulled back.

"And am I safe to assume that this rest should come with a more comfortable position?"

“Is that why you fight?”

It was strange, needing this reassurance, and yet they all had bad days. Moments when even he got confused on what he was fighting for and why he even needed to fight in the first place. It was how their conversation got them here. It had been a bad work day and he was starting to second guess things. Talking to the other though was taking him out of those thoughts.

“May I ask what it is you fight for then? What it is that you believe in. I know it’s different for everyone else.”

It had been a long day, evident by the sigh that released when he had finally sat down on the sofa. Eyes closed as he let his body relax. It wasn't long until he felt the other on his lap, giving a small smile. An eye cracked up as she started to unbotton the top of his shirt and trailing kisses on his neck.

"Well hello love. You've certainly come quick to relax me."

He wrapped his arms around her, glad for the time alone. He glanced down and noticed the lipstick already on his neck and collarbone. He was going to enjoy every moment of this, he could tell already.

There was a soft hum as he relaxed more into her touch, he hands moving to rest on her back and gently moving them up and down her body. Certain locations she kissed would cause his breath to hitch lightly.

"How relaxed are you thinking of making me? Shall I make sure the door is locked?"

12. A kiss along the collar bone

Maybe the two of them were getting a bit carried away. Luckily, the pharmacy was closed for the day so neither of them had any pressing matters to take care of. The only person who might interrupt them was Qiqi, but the little girl had been sent on a mission earlier that day to acquire more violetgrass and shouldn’t return for quite some time. And since Baizhu had such a busy day earlier, Kira knew that he likely needed to relax.

After all, it was Kira’s self-appointed duty now to treat the man who took care of everyone else. And to help with the ache of a long day, Kira prescribed him with affection.

So, while Baizhu sat on a sofa, Kira was perched in his lap as she make him feel better in her own way. Her arms were currently draped over his shoulders, her lips trailing along his collarbone—which she had reached by earlier unbuttoning the top few clips of his neck-high shirt—and leaving red lipstick stains wherever she went. Kira knew she was certainly enjoying herself, but she hoped Baizhu was as well. After all, it was he who needed the break.

"You're... brilliant. And not just in an intelligent way, since we all know that. I think you as a person are brilliant. I really enjoy talking to you and listening to your thoughts on various matters. You're so interesting and I feel like I learn so much every time we talk. People say you're difficult and rude, but... I disagree. You see things your own way, but that doesn't necessarily make you rude. Bluntness is far better than withholding the truth, and I wish I could speak as openly as you sometimes. I like you as you are. Even when sitting in silence, both of us reading, the space doesn't feel empty. It makes me...happy...."

And then, in a much softer voice, she adds... "...And you are attractive. Gods, you are attractive. How is it physically possible for someone so attractive to be so intelligent...???"

There was a long pause after she said all that. He did appreciate people being honest. It made life easier for him, because there was only so much emotional interpretation he was willing to do at any given time.

Finally, though, he said, “Yeah. I knew you thought pretty much all of that. Was it supposed to be a secret?”

Of course he noticed the confused and skeptical looks. Still seeing the poor girl in a tight spot, he had to step in. Of course he was going to make it a little convincing. He smiled, lightly kissing her temple.

"Were these two bothering you? I knew I shouldn't have kept you waiting. We should go. Don't want to miss those reservations."

He kept his arm draped around her shoulder, starting to lead her the other direction. He could hear the whispers behind them but he ignored them. He didn't take his arm from their shoulder until they were far enough away and the others had wandered off somewhere else. He offered a small smile.

"Sorry if that was a little forward. I could just see the discomfort, though I have never seen you around here before. I am Baizhu. Doctor of the area."

“P-Pouting..?? I wasn’t pouting…” Was she..?? Now she was just flustered. And, of course, conflicted since she can be quite bad at asking for these sorts of things… She’s just going to sheepishly glance away as her cheeks continue to turn pink.

“Yes you were.” He chuckled, watching her get flustered. A soft smirk crossed his lips as his gaze went back to what he was doing. “My lips are feeling a little lonely too if yours would like to come meet them.”

“You are pouting again darling. You know if you want something all you have to do is ask.”

Dan Heng's holding a couple books out to Kira. They seem to be picture books, but not really the ones for toddlers. They have beautiful photographs of the Luofu, with simple phrases under them to explain what the picture is of.

"I asked the general about some simple books I could get for someone learning to read and he directed me to these." A pause. "He has a son who's barely out of the learning to read phase so I figured he'd know."

Admittedly, Dan Heng was pretty sure Yanqing was a teenager, but to the inhabitants of the Xianzhou, anything younger than a hundred was still a baby.
