Jim Starling's Backstory (Negaduck's Backstory)

Disclaimer: This is a story that my writer friend Comic and I CREATED, it's not official and doesn't stand a chance of being. It's just our interpretation with our headcanons. The art above is by Annie (aka @anniesilveratl2) and those on paper are my authority. Also sensitive topics and triggers for people with divorced parents, alcohol addiction and abandonment. Be warned and aware of this... Stick with the story.

Jim Starling's childhood is difficult to interpret correctly, as well as the other characters (since many don't focus on their childhoods or the life they had in the first place), but we do have something of the same. In fact, Jim has always been interested in the arts, specifically film and acting. He wanted to rise to the top of fame as a successful actor and be immortalized in history, working hard from the beginning until the moment arrived. However, as they say... Things look more interesting looking from a window and when you can, they don't look so extraordinary. That's what Jim thought of himself, even with his career consolidated as the "Darkwing Duck" and winning an award, he still felt bored... It was in this situation, looking at the stars, that he met Martha Bryant.

Martha, unlike Jim, stuck to the simplest things in life, and even though she was an established and talented hairdresser, she didn't dream any higher than that. That more "loose" way of the girl left him intrigued, with them talking a little before the actor was called for the award. They met a few more times, only occasionally or professionally when the hairdresser was called in to help with costumes and haircuts. Over time, they grew closer and more intimate, until they finally started dating and eventually got married.

From this couple's union, Cristine Starling was born, a sweet and kind girl. In fact, as long as he lived with the two of them, Jim Starling was a good man. However, over the course of his acting career, the success and recognition he gained made him move away from the family and everything got worse when his wife was falling into alcoholism on account of the dismissal of her job and the immense stress he had with her caused innumerable arguments between them and poor Cristine , so small at that time, did not know what to do.

All these negative factors and his agent's threat to Jim to start focusing on work, led him to abandon his wife and daughter in exchange for focusing on his career, despite seeing his daughter begging him to stay with them. Even with this shock, Martha and Cristine continued to try to move on with their lives as before, even with the young woman's mother giving in to alcohol addiction, until she paid the prisoner. Martha went into an alcoholic coma and, after a few hours, died.

Cristine, unfortunately, found herself alone... However, she still had hope of finding her father and was willing to at least have a family to lean on and love. But... What will that result? Well... that's a story for another day...

1º Ekopolis - cerimônia de premiação

Em 2022, participei do 1° EKOPOLIS - Prêmio TILDEN SANTIAGO de Ecologia e Política, promovido pelo Selo Editorial Starling, MG, com a matéria sobre como sanar a desigualdade por água (cobertura da Brazil Water Week).

Na próxima terça, 06, rola a premiação (fechada a convidades) e estou feliz em fazer parte dos contemplados, na categoria Jornalismo Ambiental. Infelizmente, não poderei comparecer, mas fico contente que o que escrevi vai para o mundo. Sinal que o caminho está aí para ser trilhado

PREMIAÇÃO E LANÇAMENTO DO LIVRO - 1° EKOPOLIS - Prêmio TILDEN SANTIAGO de Ecologia e Política

 O 1° Prêmio Tilden Santiago de Ecologia e Política será entregue aos autores selecionados no dia 06/06/2023, às 19h, no Centro de Arte Popular em Belo Horizonte. O Prêmio é uma realização do Selo Editorial Starling, e o evento tem o apoio do Governo de Minas, por meio da Secretaria de Estado de Cultura e Turismo.

”Promover a cidadania e a ecologia como forças luminares da humanidade e da sustentabilidade”, este é o foco do Instituto Ekopolis, movimento nascido em 2019, em Contagem/MG, idealizado pelo homenageado desta edição de estreia, que junto com o Instituto, dá nome ao Prêmio, o saudoso jornalista, professor, sacerdote itinerante, deputado federal e embaixador, Tilden Santiago.

O Prêmio, que contará com a apresentação “Caminho da Água – Nascente e Foz” da cantora Cristine Lima e participação da pianista Kelly Toz, celebra ainda três marcos balizares da sustentabilidade: os 50 anos da Conferência de Estocolmo, realizada na Suécia; os 35 anos do Relatório Brundtland (Our Common Future), na Noruega,  e os 30 anos da Eco-92, realizada em 1992, no Brasil.

 O Prêmio, enaltece os autores vencedores e convidados, nas respectivas categorias e ordem de classificação: Poesia: 1º - Jacirema da Cunha Tahim; 2º - Sammis Reachers; 3º - Nelson Silva; 4º - Cristine Lima; 5º - Helder Clério; 6º - Alberto Arecchi; 7º - Keilla Kalli; 8º - Michele Cavalcante; 9º - Fernando Antônio Belino; 10º - Carla Fernanda De Araújo, menções honrosas para: Francielli Manini; Lúcia Maria Paulino Santos; Luciano Izidoro de Borba; Luzia Lima Moreira e Matheus Presotto. SOBRE O HOMENAGEADO

Tilden José Santiago (Nascido em Nova Era, em 13 de julho de 1940 – falecido em Belo Horizonte, em 2 de fevereiro de 2022).

“Sacerdorte itinerante”, que transitou do conservador seminário de Mariana aos estudos na Universidade Gregoriana em Roma, nos tempos do Vaticano II. Encontrou-se com Paul Gauthier e Marie Thérèse, que o fez trocar o Colégio Pio Brasileiro em Roma, pela Fraternidade dos companheiros de Jesus Carpinteiro em Nazaré, na Palestina.

Ordenou-se padre em 1967, abandonando o sacerdócio na década de 70. Formado em Filosofia e Jornalismo, ingressou na Ação Libertadora Nacional (ALN) depois do golpe militar de 1964. Foi um dos fundadores da Central Única dos Trabalhadores (CUT), do Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT), e presidiu o Sindicato dos Jornalistas Profissionais de Minas Gerais (SJPMG).

Trabalhou no governo Itamar Franco como secretário de Meio Ambiente e Desenvolvimento Sustentável. Foi deputado federal por três mandatos consecutivos. Em 2002 foi o terceiro colocado na eleição para Senador em Minas Gerais, amealhando 3.301.171 votos, o equivalente a 20,57% do total.

Em 2003, aprovado em sabatina no Senado Federal, exerceu o cargo de embaixador do Brasil em Havana-Cuba, durante o primeiro mandato do presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Em 2008, filiou-se ao Partido Socialista Brasileiro (PSB) onde permaneceu até 2019. Suas últimas filiações partidárias foram PSOL (2020-2021) e Cidadania (2021-2022).

De 2019 em diante, se dedicou à criação do Instituto Ekopolis - Ecologia e Política, que se mantém vivo e operante, também a partir deste prêmio/homenagem, e eventuais desdobramentos.

Featuring from my OCs - Pt. 2

Cristine Starling is the biological daughter of Jim Starling (aka Negaduck) and Martha Bryant. Both parents divorced because her mother is having serious problems with alcoholism, which led to serious fights with her husband, and her father abandoned the family so that he could focus fully on his acting career.

A few years later, Martha ended up falling into an alcoholic coma and died, with the girl left alone in the world, but determined to find the last person left of her family: her father. Little does the young girl know the perverse fate her father took...

At the moment, she has no combat skills, but she can dance ballet, which also implies that she is very agile, is quite smart and insightful, in addition to the fact that she is ambidextrous.

Happy Pride Month

HEY!!! Again I'm here to talk about the sexuality of my main OC's, but now it's about my Jim Starling Fanchild: Cristine Starling. So... Let's go? :3

My villainous baby girl is a lesbian, meaning she is attracted to girls like her. I saw that many people like to attribute this sexuality to their Nega Gosalyn's when the Negaverse is approached, but I swear I NEVER imagined that my Cris could have this sexuality...TuT

I also wanted to test an outfit based on the orange, pink and white palettes and I particularly liked the result. And for those who ask if Jim approves of her being a lesbian... Guys, he is a villain and he is a crazy psychopath... But this is the 21st century, he is NOT homophobic. He's bad, but he doesn't get to that point of bad.

I don't know WHICH OC you're talking about, but... Well...

Christine Starling: Cris and her father's relationship (after Jim became Negaduck) ended up getting a lot worse. Do you know the Joker's relationship with Harley Quinn? It's something like that, just taking away their romance and replacing it with a terrible parental relationship. Another example that you can take is Adrien and Gabriel Agreste from Miraculous, I think you can understand. As for the other Fearsome Four... That's what they say, right? "Father is the one who takes care of" and Cris has four (even though she thinks they are her uncles).

Isabela Urutau: Isa arrived in St. Canarian with her parents to be able to have a better living condition, and in the middle of that, she met the Darkwing Duck. She, herself, is a fan of comics and superheroes, loves EVERYTHING and ANY story with them (apart from a few bad current movies at times). Isabela constantly helped DWD in the first fights against the villains, for obvious reasons ("Scarwing" is not one of the most competent at times), until he himself told her to STOP helping him. Thus, the Cat Burglar was born.

Silk Touch: In the old days, in her initial version, she would have been a common villain interested in DW, constantly trying to seduce him, but he always refused (because, he would be dating Morgana at that time), until she took a drastic measure to get his love and it left the hero traumatized, soon having to overcome it. I particularly HATE that first version, because I didn't know how to play a seductive and flirtatious character, so she was ALL WRONG. Until it arrives in the definitive version of now, which is a thousand times better.

Philip Don Onitorrics: This was the FIRST villain I played and my FIRST OC villain I created, I always liked the mafia theme and I felt Darkwing Duck lacked that. This is one of the ones that almost came close to KILLING Darkwing Duck and it was one of the ones I enjoyed doing the most.
