Jungle filled with conures. This was an assignment from college and one of the first pieces I made using the technique of scanning my pencil illustrations and coloring them without any inks. I drew a lot of birds at Ringling.

Some psychic birds I was requested to draw a time ago.
#I love drawing quails but their feather patterns are. something#I haven't read the REIGEN spinoff yet but I've heard a lot about Roshuto and I didn't want to leave an empty space. consider him a freebie#I also made him a crimson bellied conure because he looks like a dark version of Reigen. and Reigen is a sun conure here#now I think I've drawn like 90% of the cast. time to make page redraws!#mobird psycho#mp100#mob psycho 100#shinra banshomaru#jodo kirin#ishiguro mp100#keiji mogami#joseph from the government#roshuto dozen

Crimson Bellied Conure
Crimson Bellied Conures, with their vibrant plumage and engaging personalities, are among the most captivating avian companions in the world of pet birds. Originating from South America, particularly in parts of Bolivia and Brazil, these birds have won the hearts of bird enthusiasts and pet owners alike. In this comprehensive guide, we explore why Crimson Bellied Conures are not just beautiful but also wonderful pets, suitable for both novice and experienced bird keepers.
https://flybabiesaviary.com/crimson-bellied-conure
Characteristics and Appearance
Crimson Bellied Conures (Pyrrhura perlata) are known for their striking appearance. Their plumage is a dazzling array of colors that instantly draws attention. The body is predominantly green, adorned with a vibrant crimson red patch on the belly, which gives them their distinctive name. Their wings often exhibit shades of blue and turquoise, adding to their visual appeal. This combination of colors makes them stand out among other conure species and adds a touch of exotic beauty to any aviary or home environment.
Temperament and Personality Traits
One of the most endearing qualities of Crimson Bellied Conures is their friendly and affectionate nature. Unlike some larger parrots that may be more aloof or reserved, these conures thrive on social interaction and bond closely with their human caregivers. They are known for their playful antics and curious demeanor, often entertaining their owners with acrobatic displays and vocalizations.
Crimson Bellied Conures are also highly intelligent birds, capable of learning tricks and mimicking sounds with ease. With proper socialization and training, they can become quite adept at interacting with their human companions, forming strong bonds that last a lifetime.
Feeding and Diet
In the wild, Crimson Bellied Conures primarily feed on a diet of various seeds, fruits, berries, and nuts. In captivity, it's essential to replicate this varied diet to ensure their nutritional needs are met. A high-quality pellet mix supplemented with fresh fruits and vegetables such as apples, berries, carrots, and leafy greens is ideal. Treats like millet sprays can be offered in moderation as rewards during training sessions.
Fresh water should always be available, and food dishes should be cleaned regularly to prevent bacterial growth. Providing a balanced diet is crucial for maintaining their health and longevity.
Housing and Enclosure Requirements
When considering housing for Crimson Bellied Conures, it's important to provide a spacious cage that allows for ample room to move around and stretch their wings. A minimum cage size of 24 inches wide by 24 inches deep and 36 inches tall is recommended for a single bird, with additional space needed for pairs or groups.
The cage should be constructed of durable materials such as stainless steel or powder-coated metal to ensure safety and longevity. Bar spacing should be narrow enough to prevent escape but still allow for climbing and exploration. Perches of varying diameters should be placed at different levels to encourage exercise and prevent foot problems.
Exercise and Mental Stimulation
Like all parrots, Crimson Bellied Conures are active birds that require regular exercise and mental stimulation to thrive. Providing opportunities for flight within a safe indoor environment or supervised outdoor flights can help maintain their physical health and agility. Interactive toys, puzzle feeders, and chewable toys should be provided to prevent boredom and encourage natural behaviors such as foraging and exploration.
Health Care and Maintenance
Maintaining the health of Crimson Bellied Conures requires regular veterinary check-ups, proper hygiene, and attentive care. Common health concerns include respiratory infections, nutritional deficiencies, and feather plucking, which can often be prevented through a balanced diet, clean living conditions, and regular observation for any signs of illness.
Ensuring a clean environment with regular cage cleaning, providing fresh food and water daily, and monitoring their behavior for any changes are essential aspects of responsible bird ownership. Additionally, providing opportunities for bathing or misting can help maintain their plumage and skin health.
Training and Socialization
Crimson Bellied Conures are highly trainable birds that respond well to positive reinforcement techniques. From teaching simple commands to more complex tricks, these intelligent birds enjoy mental challenges and thrive on interaction with their owners. Building a strong bond through consistent training sessions and socialization from a young age can help foster a trusting relationship and prevent behavioral issues.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Crimson Bellied Conures are not only visually stunning but also make delightful companions for bird enthusiasts willing to invest time and effort in their care. Their striking appearance, friendly personality, and intelligence make them well-suited for households looking to add a feathered friend to their family. With proper care, attention, and a nurturing environment, Crimson Bellied Conures can bring years of joy and companionship to their owners, making them a popular choice among pet bird enthusiasts worldwide.

Even if I'm researching in both German and English, getting information about Keeping a specific birds is fucking near impossible. Like, about broader categories and stuff? yeah that's possible. Yeah we can do pigeons for you. oh, you wanna know about king pigeons?
yeah fuck you. (there's a paragraph or two about their origin in Herkunft, and for some reason also what defines the breed, but the rest are just sources.)
for instance, one of the most sold conures on the German market seems to be the crimson bellied conure, but good luck in finding varied and interesting information on that.
especially on the German part of the web it's atrocious, there's like Wikipedia, some anecdotes in forums and then some old websites that are either a) from breeders with only the most barebones information and a Webdesign older than I am OR b) some weird animal facts website that's still telling people to just use some seedmix as the basis of your PARROTS Diet. I've seen some recommend to give fruits and veggies only 40% if the time! and they don't even talk about pellets existing.
One thing the German info stuff has going for it though is that you should never have just one bird. although this probably at least partially motivated by the law making in illegal to keep parrots alone
(in Austria they also kinda try to group the species in different categories about the minimum required care depending on their needs)
it's kinda weird how many English sources try to talk about having only one bird in like, a neutral way?
" oh well it'll be left alone and with only toys to be entertained by for at least some time and it's gonna be very attached to you but you see, this is actually a good thing for your relationship, since depending entirely on you makes it much more easy to tame and train! so overall not that bad :)"
like do you really want a pet that depends on you as it's sole source of social interactions? especially one that's incredible sensitive to stress, boredom, isolation, etc? I could probably write a whole post on just this alone but goddamn.
also I am frustrated because there's often very limited information on how to treat specific parrots, like say the eclectus parrot. and there's so little videos on their correct care that pretty quickly, what comes up are videos from countries with a seemingly worse animal protection law, where the birds are kept in cages hat some people wouldn't even use as a carrier case and adult birds are fed mushy food from syringes.
It's just fucking sad man. Not to mention a lot of information is often contradictory and just confusing? So far I found claims that eclectus parrots could live 20, 30 or even 50 years (that was from a German site if memory serves right) green cheek conures are either super silent or super loud and obnoxious, and female eclectus parrots will bully everyone except for when they're soooo cuddly.
I mean generally speaking when in doubt about birdcare ask either the breeder you're getting it from or your vet, although that first option can also be a bunch of bs.
It just kinda sucks that even though my country has some great laws for the protection of these animals finding information about what to expect is just very hard. And I, while no expert, am informed enough to read something like "seeds are a good base diet for a parrot" and know it's bs, but what about someone who finds that infopage first?
Yeah I guess the point of this fucking Essay is misinformation about living organisms that puts them in possible danger bad.
#it's a great pet if you want a bird without it feeling like having a bird!#crimson bellied conure#Pigeon#eclectus parrot#green cheek conure#birds#king pigeon#parrots#ramblings#I guess#just was trying to research crimson bellied conures and goddamn#there's nothing out there#I mean I could try to look for books and read those#but a lot if the points still stand#bc most people don't buy a book first#they Google first#or and go to YouTube#also what really gets me is the kinda sales pitch writing in some of these sites#except that's usually misleading and bs#I could continue all night tbh

There are SO MANY side characters I never made a design for in the mobird psycho AU and there are so many possibilities. Silkie rooster Mitsura. Java finch Shiratori brothers. Bobwhite quail Shinra. Black turkey Jodo. Jardine parrot Mogami. Crimson-bellied conure Roshuto. I have to draw them all.

Would you tell us about your favorite birds?
i have two tiers of like favourite birds: tier 1 is like the "i feel okay keeping these birds because i feel confident i can give them a quality life in captivity" and even though i'm a very happy cockatiel owener, i prefer conures. Green cheeks are my main frame of reference but i'm also REALLY interested in crimson bellies. they're a totally difference species of conure so i held off getting one because i was looking for a mate/friend for yoshi but now that he's got one in his own species i may actually be interested in a crimson down the line. Conures are just silly little creatures. they're chatty little wrestlers and very affectionate and empathetic. They're also incredibly smart and excellent mimics. I like how they're also very acrobatic because they're so good and strong with their feet. They can climb very well and hang upside down. They also eat with their feet.
i also love how many different colour mutations GCC's have and actually just the whole conure family has such a diverse amount of birds. i love them my second tier is like the opposite of the first one and it's the sulphur crested cockatoo. Not only are they gorgeous birds but they're so freaking smart. they are puzzle solvers and very good with tools and things of that nature. i love how low key chaotic they are too. love seeing videos of them having stole food out of bins and stuff like that. i follow this channel from this like engineer guy who makes puzzles for the wild cockatoos that come out to his window and it's so cool seeing how inquisitive they are and how they'll actually take the time to solve puzzles and stuff, though they do try to brute force them sometimes because they can. love love love a cockatoo but i would feel awful keeping such a big bird in my house. it seems wrong.
