Trump can't run from his crimes.
Republicans doubling down on Trump is a sign of weakness. They have nothing but a con man's shamelessness. The soul of the party is rancid.
It is of no surprise that the first former President to face a criminal trial is Trump. 1000% predictable.
This says it all:
Tumblr media
Trump's legal strategy is to say that all his crimes coming to court at this time are election interference. Think about that.
Republicans see Trump lawlessness, and the suspension of all laws that hold him accountable, as key to their quest for power.
Vote Blue. Get rid of these fascist toddlers.

Trump is charged with falsifying documents to cover up his frantic efforts to prevent damaging disclosures in the waning days of the 2016 election. Specifically, the charges relate to the October 2016 hush-money payment Trump’s fixer paid a porn star who threatened to disclose their prior sexual relationship. During the federal trial of Trump’s fixer, Michael Cohen, it was established that Trump ordered Cohen to make the payment then repaid him with checks he recorded as legal expenses, when he was in fact repaying an illegal campaign contribution. Still unclear is whether Trump committed tax fraud by writing the checks off his taxes.

2020 Tampering Trial: Tina Peters is GUILTY!
Former Mesa County clerk Tina Peters has been found guilty for tampering with voting machines in the 2020 election. Contrary to what the right wants you to believe, the trial was not rigged.
The nearly two-week trial was held in Denver, Colorado, before Judge Matthew Barrett.
I'll keep this brief—let's break down the verdict.
On August 12, a jury found former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters guilty on seven out of ten counts in the election interference case, with for of the seven charges being felonies.
The jury spent just over four hours deliberating.
This case is significant, as it's the first in which a local election official has been prosecuted as a result of a suspected security breach during the 2020 election. In a statement given by Colarado Secretary of State Jena Grisworth, she had to say the following:
Among Peters' convictions are three counts of attempting to influence a public servant, one count of conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation, first-degree official misconduct, violation of duty and failing to comply with the secretary of state. She was acquitted of an additional count of criminal impersonation, as well as a charge of conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation and an identity theft chargeIn 2022, Peters pleaded not guilty to all counts.
Tina Peters is set to be sentenced on October 3.
The MAGA-aligned conservative former official has become infamous, being a particularly well-known figure among avid election deniers who believe the 2020 election was stolen.
"Tina Peters willfully compromised her own election equipment trying to prove Trump's Big Lie. Today's verdict sends a clear message: we will not tolerate any effort to threaten the security of our gold standard elections."
In an interesting crossover, a search warrant was executed against notorious "MyPillow Guy" Mike Lindell in connection to Peters' case at hand.
In the indictment, prosecution wrote that Peters engaged in, "A deceptive scheme which was designed to influence public servants, breach security protocols, exceed permissible access to voting equipment and set in motion the eventual distribution of confidential information to unauthorized people."
Lindell is another well-known proponent of these election fraud claims as well, so it's unsurprising to me that he was involved.
Right-wing media has been attempting to spin this trial as rigged, with accompanying attempts to justify Peters' actions. These opinions are not legally sound and should be regarded as false.
What do you think of the verdict? Let me know!

Trump warns of ‘bedlam,’ declines to rule out violence after court hearing
Oh, your god-king "warns of 'bedlam'", does he?
Well, you just remember this, far Right, white nationalist, dominionist pig shit: We have guns and Stand Your Ground laws, too. Next time, we're not gonna just sit while impotent cops in windbreakers and tap shoes follow some bureaucrat's order to stand around and watch the show.
Muriel Bowser, and Joint Chiefs of Staff? You ARE on notice. Likewise, the mayors of cities where they think insurrection is protected speech.
We're here, and we're booking flights to the Capitol as we speak.
If Biden is any kind of president at all, the place will be thick with the National Guard.

34 is the new 45
I think Hillary Clinton said it best yesterday when she said “anything going on today?” Unless you made conscious decision yesterday to disconnect from all media – printed, social, and otherwise, you’ve probably heard by now that Donald Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts of business fraud in his criminal trial yesterday. I previously wrote about Trump’s criminal trial here and HERE. This…

Trump MISSES in ATL: Did He Lose The State?
I'm not a political blog when it doesn't directly have to do with the law, but I found this story interesting because of Trump's ongoing trial in the state, as well as many Georgia Republicans saying this speech may have lost him the state.
I'll keep this brief; here's what happened in ATL.
Last weekend, former President and 34-time convicted felon Donald J. Trump held a rally at Georgia State University in Atlanta, and it was bad. So bad, in fact, that entertainment media Fox News cut away from it, and Trump loyalists were seem filing out in the second hour. Ouch.
What's interesting to me—why I'm writing about this at all—is as it is to do with the ongoing trial in Fulton County for his interference with the 2020 election. We all remember that phone call, right? The one where he asked GA Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to "find 11,780 votes" on January 2, 2021; four days before he incited an insurrection at the Capitol.
Since then, and through this ongoing trial, GA has been discussed in legal circles as it pertains to the handling of the 2024 election; will it be safe for interference this time around? Being a swing state, Georgia is already at the center of political discourse, and the added stress of legal woes only adds to the messiness of the situation.
All that is to say, I don't want to imply I think his fucking up a rally would affect the trial itself. Rather, what's interesting is the political attitude towards him in the state. Raffensperger wasn't willing to do Trump's bidding then, and after all of this has left a bad taste in GA conservatives' mouths, who would be willing to do shit for him?
If Trump really cost himself the state with this failure of a rally, could we consequently subvert our worry in Georgia? I guess it doesn't really matter since the American Bar Association put together their task force to ensure the preservation of democracy either way, and the trial from his interference last time is ongoing.
Still, though, it's an interesting thought to keep.
What do you think? I'd love to hear your takes.

Feb 26, 2024 It's beginning to feel like the Trump show is in reruns, as gag orders again make an appearance in the Trump trials. Trump may have lost all his civil cases, but his first criminal trial has yet to commence. HIs first prosecution is set to begin in New York on March 25. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has now filed a motion seeking a gag order in an attempt to protect the witnesses, the jurors, the prosecutors and the court staff from Trump's dangerous and reckless rhetoric, and the threats and violence Trump's rhetoric is designed to inspire.
