i should probably make a lunar chronicles blog to say all this shit but god. i miss them so bad. i need to see them on the big screen one way or another. i need to see kai and cinder's awkward first meeting and her - a five star professional mechanic - literally slamming his tech on its side in an effort to fix it. i need to see cinder crashing the ball in a rain-soaked dress. i need to see her and thorne break out of jail and thorne tell her about starting a prison riot over fucking soap while she just stares at him without a drop of amusement in her eyes, only for them to become best friends. i need to see scarlet aim a gun at wolf and hear wolf tell her to aim at his head because it makes for a more fatal shot, and the sick, nasty parallels later. i need to see cress and thorne stumbling over the dessert, navigating more than just sand dunes. i need to see iko get her new body and feel herself for the first time. i need to see jacin being a jackass to everyone because he's been raised in a place where being anything but harsh will ruin him. i need to see him helping winter through her hallucinations, the two of them holding back their affections at every moment because they can't display them without someone getting hurt. i need to see the final showdown, the "nice shot, cress." i need to see them all eating lemon cake at the end after weeks of eating canned military food on the rampion, eating with their hands because they all forgot cutlery, getting frosting all over their fingers. i need-

I’d been looking forward to the scene where Thorne, blind and yelling for Cress, bursts in to rescue her after her kidnapping, but it was even better, and more hilarious, than I’d remembered.

• “They all watched as Captain Thorne, blindfolded, ran right past the door” (Meyer 2014, 342).

• Cress confusing Thorne with her description of the “threats” in the room (i.e., Jacin, Dr. Erland, and Wolf)

• Jacin easily snatching both Thorne’s gun and cane from him

• Thorne being super worried about Cress and then ecstatic that Cinder’s safe

• And then:

“‘You came for me.’

“He beamed, looking for all the world like a selfless, daring hero.

“‘Don’t sound so surprised.’ Dropping the cane, he pulled her into a crushing embrace that tore her away from Wolf and lifted her clean off the floor. ‘It turns out you are worth a lot of money on the black market’” (345).

Currently rereading Scarlet by Marissa Meyer (#2 in The Lunar Chronicles (which might just be my comfort YA series?)) for the second (?) time , and I am so happy Scarlet & Wolf still works for me 🧺🐺🍅

Also… I used to hate the fact that they changed the covers & the old versions became out of print (I was saving up to collect the whole series 😮‍💨), but now I’m like FUCK ME these new covers *groans in content*

Finishing the main series again and realizing that all the main couples (Scarlet/Wolf, Cress/Thorne, Winter/Jacin) got their “I love you”’s (and some more than once) and Cinder and Kai NEVER did. Like yeah Lai kept on lowkey being like, “marry me” “be my empress”, but like… come on guys 🥲 just say it already

Jacinter - childhood best friends, starcrossed lovers, royal x loyal guard like dAKJLS:DJFH:L im sorry and you expect me NOT to love them?? ok I kinda get that compared to the other couples they spend quite little time together in their book but like. come on. I didnt reread tlc for a couple years but I thought about these two CONSTANTLY. I love them so much I cant even multiship like winlet is very appealing to me but lowkey I feel bad 😭 like theyve wanted each other for so long I cant bring myself to ship either of them with anyone else. But also I kinda wish jacin was a butch lesbian

Kaider - They're so adorable and silly lol. I feel like they were a very good couple to kick off the series with cause I was rooting for them so quickly. They're the funniest canon ship cause theyre both so sassy and done with everything. I wish we couldve gotten more scenes where they talked shit together

Wolflet - To be completely honest I like this ship a lot less than the previous two but thats not to say I dont like them. Like yes I could never take the alpha talk seriously but they were still very cute. Idk why but I like this ship a LOT better when I imagine Wolf as a woman and they were just two lesbians in love <3 If they were they'd probably be above kaider but in canon yea they're number 3 for me.

Cresswell - The age difference isn't really a factor for me, yes its weird but lowkey I forgot thorne was 20 and cress was 16 while I was reading cress. I like the headcanon that thorne had a fake id to sneak into bars and is actually 18 but forgot and just told everyone he was 20. Even so... they're odd for me. I don't know I guess I just dont like the naive inexperienced girl x experienced guy trope? I liked them a lot more in winter than I did in cress. I think its because the pining was more mutual then. I don't hate them, and I did enjoy some of their moments but out of all the canon ships theyre the weakest for me. I like them better when theyre interacting with other people, like wolf or jacin for cress and cinder or kai for thorne.

The Lunar Chronicles x Avatar: The Last Airbender

here's my silly little au <3 @flerkenkiddingme and yk what @winterrhayle too i think you might be into this

anyway, these are just my basic ideas and ramblings for an Avatar Cinder au

Cinder is the fire avatar

i think timeline wise she basically takes roku's place

she was adopted by the Linh family, who are fire nation nobles

but, like in tlc canon, she isn't treated very well by them

she believes that she's a nonbender, and also that her entire family died in a fire when she was a baby

she's a mechanic working for the fire nation royal family

the firelord being Levana, and the crown princess being Winter

the airbenders are still around, and this is where Kai comes in. he's a new airbending master! i know he should probably be like the earth prince or something but he just has such airbender vibes i had to figure out how to make it work

Iko is also a mechanic alongside Cinder, they're best friends

now, Levana wants to off the airbenders just like in atla canon. however she's nowhere near as successful as sozin was, so instead of waiting for the comet to come she decides to assassinate an airbending delegation to send a message

Cinder somehow figures out the plan, and she manages to save Kai... with bending

so you've got Cinder, Iko, and Kai all on the run on Rampion, Kai's sky bison (ik the rampion is thorne's but kai needs a bison)

they realize that she's the avatar and are like 'oh shit'

so they then go on a journey to find her some bending masters and take down Levana before she can finish off the airbenders

now, backtracking to Cinder's past

Levana realized her niece, Selene, was the Avatar when she was very little. knowing the immense power she would one day hold, she set a fire to the nursery while Selene and Winter were asleep

Cinder was saved by some servants, though she was terribly burned

and Levana pretended the fire was set by little Winter, who then goes on to believe she killed her own cousin for the next part of her life (god levana sucks)

because of this Winter almost never uses her firebending

back to the present!

Cinder and Co are journeying through the nations, trying to find bending masters

they find Thorne, who is a nonbender but is wanted by the fire nation, and is only too happy to join their cause

at some point they recruit Scarlet, who is a Kyoshi warrior

during their time in the earth kingdom they also manage to get Wolf on their side, who is a Dai Li agent

later, they break into the fire nation palace searching for something (idk what) and come out with yet another recruit: Cress, who is a combusitonbender that was kidnapped by Levana as a child and forced to learn the skill

now, i wasn't able to get Jacin's role as a 1-to-1 unfortunately because i still needed a waterbending teacher. so rather than being Winter's guard, Jacin is a nothern water tribe soldier. he's very drawn to the skill of healing, but due to the patriarchal nature of the NWT is forced into a life of fighting. i think perhaps he's one of the elite water tribe guards, and there's no more noble job than guarding the avatar herself

at some point Scarlet ends up getting kidnapped and taken to the fire nation. she manages to escape, and when she does she brings princess Winter with her

and together with all her new friends Avatar Cinder is able to defeat the firelord!

this is a very fun au to rotate around in my brain lol
