Alexis is bad at her job. Being hated by the whole town of Hollowville does not help with this. Her being a foreigner was bad enough, but being a foreigner that works for Usher made the task of getting information out of the ordinary townsfolk go from difficult to impossible.

So, in lieu of the town's actual mayor, she's decided to go for the next best thing.

She saunters up to Amelie, trying to act like she doesn't give a shit what it thinks. She very much gives a shit what it thinks.

On today's episode, I talk to musician John Grant. Originally from Buchanan, Michigan, John moved to Germany in 1988 to study German, but eventually moved back to the States, where he formed the band The Czars, who released seven albums in the 12 years they were together. After a four-year hiatus, John began making music again under his own name, and the five albums he's recorded since have garnered both critical praise and commercial success. In 2013, John moved to Iceland, where he works as a translator, and just last week Creep Show, John's collaboration with the synth group Wrangler, released their second album Yawning Abyss on Bella Union!

On a near-empty street, a figure falls from above- presumably from a roof. Though if anybody looked up, they would notice nothing but blue, endless sky above.

She scrambles to her feet, mostly unharmed- skin a dark and mottled shade of blue-green, black hair long and stringy, filmy eyes drinking in the red dirt road as her hands clutch a book that smells of ozone greedily. Somebody had forgotten a Leitner completely, a book with the power to let her go ‘free. Finally.

Vesper lets out a laugh to the wind, hoarse and scratchy and grating to the ear. Let the world sneer all it wants. She’s seen the secrets it’s buried.

The stranger sees the secrets. And the secret keeper watches and listens.

Alexis waits behind a tree, trying not to let herself be swallowed whole by the dark and endless forest. Something about this town, something about this woman, has a quality that consumes.

Should she be frightened?

A little fly drifts from the palm of her hand and lands on Vesper's shoulder. An invitation. Hollowville's greeting.
