CC-1010, Commander Fox stood out for his actions and ideals to lead the Coruscant Guard towards perfection, to bring peace and protection to those in need of it. After all, Fox is the barrier protecting the Supreme Chancellor from the enemy. That protection only grew when you came into his life. A newly knighted Jedi put to maintain the Chancellor safe, per his request. 

You were a peaceful person when Anakin Skywalker first introduced you as a childhood friend, towards the Chancellor, the old man took a liking towards you inmediately. The same day you were introduced, you had been given the order to be his own personal bodyguard. You were more than honored to take on such high request.

As you got to work for the Chancellor, the more you got to know the Coruscant Guard and its antics. 

You remember clearly how you met the Coruscant Guard, Palpatine introduced you personally towards the elite group of clones. 

- Men! This is General Y/N, she will be working with you to maintain the peace which you bring to the streets of Coruscant. The Chancellor introduced you and with that he smiled and left you with the troopers. The first trooper to warm up was Thorn, gentle yet stoic. You managed to make a nice friendship with the clone. He was the first to greet you into their ranks, then followed Hound, Thire and Stone. The last one was Fox, he did not warmed up quickly, it felt strange having a jetti in his ranks. 

The liking which you took towards the troopers was inmense, sure, you enjoyed the company of the 501st. Forever they would be your home and brothers. But the Guard became something else far more special. They became a sentient being for you to rest upon.

And their Commander was the beaming energy which pushed you through to keep fighting in the nonstopping war or at least to keep yourself alive for his own sake and yours of course. 

After Fox warmed up to you, everything became natural to you, as if the Force deemed so that you were placed in that place and at that exact moment. Perhaps you were destined to be by the Commander’s side for the rest of your days in the galaxy.

Today is no different than the rest, wake up, hit the refresher, have breakfast and go to your office and stay there until call upon the Senate building. You have been stationed in the Republic Center for Military Operations, alongside the Guard. You took it upon yourself to learn the base up and down and side by side and never got lost in it.

A skip follows into your steps as you encounter Thire on the way. “Morning” you beam softly as you enter the lift, the Commander nods back at you “Morning Y/N” he chuckles noticing the beaming in your face. He smiles underneath his bucket, Thire has learn to live with a jetti amongst his ranks as well. He can accept that you are a close friend almost like a vode. He considers you as a little sister although he knows very much that you can hold your own. 

“Visiting Fox earlier today, are we?” Thire teases causing you to elbow his side. “Shut it” you whisper as you stare at the Commander with a glare although he knows you’re joking. Silence beats for a moment as the two of you break down laughing. It’s the moments like these that causes you to enjoy the Guard and the beings which live surrounding you.

The lift stops, you leave it bidding goodbye to the Commander as you manage to stalk towards an specific office. Thire follows your skipping form as you make way towards his vode’s working space. “Have fun!” He shouts causing to flicker the middle finger towards him. The trooper chuckles as the lift closes and you are left alone down the corridor which you stop across the durasteel doors. 

On the other side awaits Commander Fox. 

You invite yourself in, as the door closes swiftly behind you. “Sure, come on in, make yourself comfortable” the baritone voice of your secret lover says hidden on a holopad. A smile edges your features as you make contact with Fox. “Good morning to you as well, my love” you sigh making your way towards your lover. But you stop, Fox lifts his gaze and stands making his way towards you, his gaze pierces you.

 His eyes look brown from afar, but as he nears you notice the color of honey. They're bright and liquid warm, sprinkled with light brown specks, framed by beautiful thick lashes. They remind you of the Corellian whiskey, you and Thorn whenever you are on leave, you watch him near, hiding behind the curtain of Y/H/C hair. When he slides into the space infront of you, you sneak a glance at him. You pause, noticing the power behind those breathtaking eyes. The power that's as reckless as a tornado. His eyes flash. For a moment they look golden with warmth and as careless as hell.

You are stunned by Fox’s gaze and the way they inflict upon you. A breathy sound escape your lips as you finally meets his gaze. “You will be the death of me” you mumble softly as Fox’s breathing fans over your face tickling your cheeks. The clone chuckled softly before leaning down towards your face and just like that your lips locked together. 

The kiss obliterated every thought. For the first time in forever Fox's mind was locked into the present. The worries of the day evaporated like a summer shower onto a hot ship. His usual mode of hurrying from one thing to the next was suspended, he had no wish for the kiss to end. Drunk on endorphins his only desire was to touch you, to move his hands under her smooth robes and feel your perfect softness. In moments the soft caress has become more firm, he savoured your lips and the quickening of your breath that matched his own. A kiss like this was a beginning, a promise of much more to come.

As Fox pulls away, he lays a gentle kiss on your forehead. The Coruscant sun shines through his office and it is moments like this that make him feel alive more than ever. It is not the fighting or the risking everything what keeps Fox beating. No, it is you. You keep him beating and breathing each day since you came into his life as a stranger. But now you are so much more than a simple stranger, you are his everything. 

“Cyar'ika, Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum” Fox mumbles softly causing you to nuzzle against his neck. “I love you aswell, Commamnder Fox” you answer sincerely as the two of you bask in the peaceful moment. 

Your heartbeat is steady like a drummer, keeping rhythm, keeping beat. It is no more fancy that a ticking clock or an acorn falling from a mighty oak. It is just your heart. Yet  you would never describe his heart that way. His is your everything. As you bask in the moment of love and peace, Fox tries to remember everything. You know the risks of falling in love yet, the word says so, falling in love. You did not decided to fall in in love with Fox, it just happened and now it is the most alive you have ever felt since you came to accept the fact. The fact that you are madly in love with Commander Fox and no one, not even the Dark nor the Light can erase your love for him.

A/N: Hello, after a long hiatus I am back on business. I came up with this piece while reading for Fox. I love him. I think that he deserves a lot of credit. I mean cmon he is amazing as well and there is not much written work about him out there so! I made something for him! I hope you guys enjoy it! Plane ticket refunds (without airline cooperation)

I live in LA. My extended family lives in Toronto. Before the pandemic, I bought my 12 year old daughter an Air Canada plane ticket from LA to Toronto to visit her grandparents/uncles/aunts/cousins during the summer holiday.

Yesterday, I decided it was time to cancel it. The CDC is projecting 3,000 US deaths/day by Jun 1, and my parents are in their 70s. There's no way I'm sending my kid to Toronto to see them this summer. That's basically attempted murder.

I went through the AC form -- which had a ton of fine-print that I skimmed -- and cancelled the ticket, and then I did a double-take. At first it looked like my $520 ticket had a $55 nonrefundable portion. Then I realized that the refundable portion was only $55!

I called up and a rep told me yes, because the ticket is nonrefundable and because AC hasn't cancelled flights that far into the summer yet, I was only eligible for taxes and fees. If I'd ticked a different box, i could get a credit to use the funds on AC in the next 2 years.

What's more, it was too late. My only recourse if I wanted to get that credit was to fill in a webform that goes to a refunds department that warns that it takes at least 6 weeks to resolve issues...when there ISN'T a pandemic on.

My family has a Monday night videoconference and I was complaining about this and my sister-in-law, Tara, suggested cancelling the charge with my credit card company, which is apparently what many Canadians are doing.

I tweeted about it this morning and an AC customer service rep asked me to DM them. After some back and forth, they coughed up a few more of the fees (not, I note wryly, the money I paid Air Canada for ticket insurance!), but I'm still out more than $400.

So I called Amex, and while I'm no fan of giant financial services company, I'm here to tell you that the procedure was easy and entirely pleasant. They took all the details, decided I was in the right, and issued me a credit on the spot.

Now, AC can still dispute this, but by the time they do, I'm confident that my daughter's flight - and the route it's on -- will have been cancelled. I suppose they might decide to stop doing business with me?

I've got moderately high status with the airline, as it happens, and I've previously had the top tier frequent flier status (when I lived in Canada), so maybe not.

But who's to say?

Bottom line, AC might not even exist when the pandemic is over. Rather than ask me to take a credit instead of a refund, they played a game of bureaucratic nickel-and-dime gotcha that is totally emblematic of their customer-hostile approach, even before the crisis.

I've met many wonderful AC employees, but the company is a flaming pile of garbage. So I'm not all that worried about being blackballed by them.

If you're fighting with an airline, you might wanna try your credit card company too. No guarantees, but it worked for me.

AGAIN PISSED OFF BECAUSE SHE HAS NO FORESIGHT, I have to deal with people with mask half off, people waiting to the door to put on their damn mask while I am 2 feet away. go tell her, and she goes into HIDE mode because her mom coddled her when she was a child and now she has no defense except go Hide under moms wing, while mom is just Oh let me validate you scared feelings that I caused you to keep up. I grew up in a family of fighting, cussing, and get it off your fucking chest. I know that is the wrong way to communicate, But it is communication. Being silent and hiding means, MOVE IN FOR THE FUCKING KILL CAUSE THERE FUCKING WEAK. I want to go out and destroy all these people spreading the sickness, but I DON’T BECAUSE I GOT TO BE A BIGGER HUMAN. Death x OC Office AU

I hit send and sighed, leaning back in my seat. Three cancelations, two rescheduled meetings, and a bunch of chain letter spam all before one. Not to mention the hour I spent on the phone trying to get a definitive time for one of the rescheduled appointments.

���It gets easier,” Nora reminded me for the fourth time today. There were dark circles under her eyes and she seemed less cheerful than she had earlier.

“Will it? Cause right now, all I want to do is reach through the phone and choke out the next person who won’t give me an answer,” I replied, rubbing my temples.

“It will, trust me. Just give it a year or two.” I snorted at her comment and she smiled, patting my back. “Seriously, it’ll get easier. You have to really practice patience.” I cursed under my breath and she laughed, picking up another call as the phone rang. I turned in my chair, moving from side to side.

My eyes landed on the elevator that Death and his brothers had gone in earlier. None of them had come down since then. What were they talking about, I wondered? Were they fighting? Discussing vacation plans? I chuckled quietly as the image of Death in a large sunhat, a Hawaiian shirt, and khakis popped into my head. I’d pay to see that. Though I’d bet money that Death never took any time away from work; he didn’t seem the type.

Maybe if his siblings dragged him out, even if only for a night on the town? Did he ever go bar hopping or clubbing? I could see him sitting at a bar in low lighting, a glass of whiskey in his hand. He’d be wearing a leather jacket and nice fitting jeans with some boots, and all the women would be afraid to make the first move, but some confident lady would chat him up and all the other girls would be seething with jealousy, wondering if she was the one he was going to take home tonight.

When had I started fantasizing about my boss and his life?

“Az,” Nora said, pinching me. I winced and swirled back to her, scowling. She pointed towards the doors and I looked over, sitting up straight as Neema walked in. Her short pecan curls stuck out from under her beanie, her oversized band shirt hanging off of one shoulder. She had on a pair of ratty old boots that Safiya had given her years ago and her pants had paint smudges all over them. She smiled brightly at me, waving wildly. I waved back, smiling myself, and stood as she ran over, throwing herself into my arms.

“What are you doing here?” I asked, hugging her tightly.

“I was bored so I thought I’d drop by and see your new job,” she answered, clinging to me tightly. I frowned slightly. Something was wrong, I could tell, but I wasn’t going to push the subject here. I kissed the top of her head and pulled back, gesturing to Nora.

“This is Nora.” The two waved at each other. My phone rang and I held up a finger, picking it up. “Hello, thank you for calling the CC Corporation, how may I help you?”

“Nora?” an unfamiliar voice asked.

“This is not her, I’m sorry. My name is Aziza; do you need to speak to Nora?”

“No, my apologies. I didn’t know there was someone new. Please, forgive me.”

“It’s quite alright. May I ask why you’re calling?”

“Ah, yes, I need to speak with Death, please.”

“And who is this?”

“Azrael.” I put my hand over the voice box and looked at Nora.

“An Azrael is calling,” I said, lowering my voice.

“Put him through to whoever he wants,” she immediately replied. I nodded and uncovered the speaker, replying.

“Alright, I’ll patch you through.”

“Thank you very much,” Azrael said.

“No problem!” I hit the forward call button and hung up, turning back to Neema. She was smiling proudly at me. I returned it.

“My big sister is growing up so fast,” she said, faking a sniffle. I rolled my eyes playfully and checked the time. It was time for my break.

“You wanna go for a walk? I have a half hour to burn,” I suggested. She nodded and I let Nora know I’d be back before leaving the building. We started walking, no destination in mind. I glanced over as we wandered, noticing a frown curving her lips. Whatever was wrong was really bothering her. I wanted to ask but I was unsure of how to approach the subject. Was she upset with me? No, she wouldn’t have come if she was mad at me. Was it Safiya? Had something happened at home?

“Why are you staring at me?” I jumped as she looked at me, brow arched curiously.

“Sorry…” I scratched the back of my neck, chewing on the inside of my cheek. “I just… You seem upset, but I don’t want to push anything.” Neema gave me a small smile and wrapped her arms around one of mine, resting her head against my shoulder. It suddenly felt like she was a small child again, afraid to leave my side whenever we ventured out.

“There is something wrong,” she said, voice small. “It’s stupid.”

“Hey, nothing is stupid,” I said, kissing the top of her head. “If it’s bothering you then it’s definitely not stupid.” She giggled a little and then sighed.

“It’s Lyriel…”

“Ahh…”

“She’s going on a date… I was gonna tell her how I felt about her, but before I could she told me one of our classmates asked her out. She said yes…” I frowned and slipped my arm out of hers, wrapping it around her shoulders and giving her a squeeze.

“You should still tell her.”

“How can I? She’s going on a date!”

“Doesn’t mean it’s going to be a good date.” She looked up at me with glassy eyes and I felt my heart tighten; she was more smitten than I realized. “Look, you’re going to have many crushes and many loves of your life. You shouldn’t let the unknown hold you back. Lyriel is never going to know how you feel until you tell her, and you’re never gonna know how she feels either. What if she’s thinking about you right now? What if she likes you too but is also afraid to say anything?”

She looked away from me, letting my words sink in. Damn, you should charge people for this advice. I held back a laugh at my own thoughts and stopped walking, turning her to me. “You only live once.” She barked out a laugh, wiping at her teary eyes.

“Did you really just say that? God, you’re cringey,” she sniffled. I smiled.

“Yes, yes I did,” I replied. “But it’s true and you know it.”

“Yeah, yeah…” She hugged me tightly and I wrapped my arms around her, hugging back just as tightly. My smile grew. I wiped the tears from her eyes when we pulled apart and we headed back to the office, Neema now bouncing around happily. “So, Safiya told me about what your boss did for you.” I groaned, rolling my eyes. Great, now it’s her turn to try and lecture me.

“He only did it so I didn’t miss work.”

“Sure he did…” I glared at her playfully and she laughed, nudging me with her elbow. “I think perhaps your boss-”

“Don’t! I already heard it from Saf, I don’t need to hear it from you. There’s no way, no possibility that my boss wants to sleep with me!” A few older women walking by gave us a weird look and I blushed, ignoring them.

“He bought you a whole ass meal, ZiZi!”

“He was just being nice!” She rolled her eyes at me.

“He’s also taking you to a party.”

“Only because I want to pay him back.”

“He couldn’t have asked you to work overtime? Maybe take away one of your weekends?” I felt my face grow red and I rubbed my temples. God, this would never end, would it? “Look, all I’m saying is, I think there’s something more there than you think.”

“We barely know each other, Neem. I only ever interact with him when he’s coming or going. I don’t think I’m even his type.”

She rolled her eyes again. Her eyes must’ve been tired from all that rolling. “What do you think his type is, exactly?” I thought about it for a moment.

“Smart,” I started. “Confident, elegant, probably likes fitness and reading.”

“You like reading!”

“I haven’t picked up a book in a month.”

“You’re smart!”

“I almost failed math, Neem.”

“Would you stop putting yourself down?” It was her turn to stop me. She placed her hands on her hips and looked at me sternly. “You are a smart, confident, sassy beautiful woman. You light up any room you’re in and any guy would be lucky to have you on his arm!” I smiled a little. “You are more beautiful than any angel or supermodel.”

“I think that’s taking it a little too far, Neem.” She waved away my comment.

“You’re more amazing than you give yourself credit for.” I pulled her into a tight hug and she yelped. “Ugh, let me go!”

“Never,” I laughed. She sighed and hugged me back.

We got back to the office a few minutes later. Nora was coming back from her lunch break as well when we walked in. Neema had given me the small confidence boost I needed to make it through the rest of my shift and I couldn’t thank her enough for it. I still didn’t think Death was attracted to me, but it felt nice to hear such nice things from my little sister. We were just saying our goodbyes when Death and his brothers walked out of the elevator. Strife looked happy while Death and War wore looked tired and glad to be done with whatever had gone on up there. Death noticed me and broke away from the others, walking over.

“Miss Banks,” he said, reaching us. “Who is this?” He looked at my sister, who was now staring at him wide eyed, her jaw nearly hitting the floor. Her head was craned back as far as she could bend it.

“Holy shit,” she whispered. “This is your boss? You weren’t lying when you said he was smokin’ hot.” I slapped my hand over my face, warmth radiating from my neck to my ears. Death chuckled quietly and I peeked through my fingers, noticing an amused glint in his eye.

“I take it this is the same one who placed that photograph in your resume file?”

“Guilty! Hi, I’m Neema, Azi’s little sister. We sort of met at the apartment.” She extended her hand for a handshake and he stared at it for a moment, brow arched and head tilted slightly. His eyes flicked back to hers and, hesitantly, he took her hand.

“I don’t remember, sorry. That day was quite busy for me.” She shrugged off his reply and nodded her head towards me.

“So, I hear you’re taking my sister on a date, huh?”

“What, why didn’t I hear about this,” Strife asked, appearing next to Death. The older brother rolled his eyes.

“It’s not a date. I’m bringing her to the party tonight. Fury wanted me to bring someone.”

“Since when have you cared about what our sister wants?” War asked, joining the others. Death ran a hand over his face, and I could’ve sworn I saw his cheeks turn a light shade of pink for a moment.

“I’ve decided to placate her for one evening,” Death grumbled. “Besides, Miss Banks offered.” That wasn’t exactly true, but I wasn’t going to deny it. He looked like he needed all the help he could get to get out of the predicament he was in. War grunted, seeming satisfied with his answer. Strife, however, was not.

“Why didn’t you bring Amber? Or some other employee? Hell, even Nora could’ve come!”

“I have a baby, you know,” she cut in quickly before answering the phone.

“Still, you’re bringing the newbie?” Strife wiggled his brows in a suggestive manner and it looked like Death was hanging onto his sanity by a thread. “Why big brother, how uncharacteristic of you.”

“Shut up.” Death narrowed his eyes at his brother, his fists clenched. I stepped forward and grabbed the sleeve of his suit, tugging lightly. He looked at me, confused, and I smiled.

“Probably not a good idea to beat your brother up in the lobby,” I said quietly. His eyes lowered to where my hand was on his sleeve and I quickly removed it, apologizing.

“Thank you,” he said. “You’re quite right.” Strife made kissing noises and this time it was Death’s turn to hold me back from clocking his brother. “It was nice to meet you, Neema.”

“The pleasure is all mine,” she giggled, enjoying the show playing out in front of her. “When you take ZiZi out, make sure to bring her home by one, alright?” I smacked her shoulder and she laughed.

“You should head home,” I said firmly, giving her a warning look. She laughed and hugged me tightly.

“Love you too, sis; don’t forget to bring us back some snacks, I have a feeling dinner’s gonna be Top Ramen again!” She said goodbyes to the others before she left. I was a little sad to see her leave, but I did have a job to do. Death held up a file I hadn’t noticed he was holding and handed it to me.

“Amber picked out a selection of dresses for this evening,” he explained, ignoring the teasing that Strife had started up. “Go through and pick what you’d like, then email her your choice. There’s also a selection of shoes and jewelry. Hair and makeup will be here as soon as your shift ends.” My brows lifted and I looked at the folder, noticing how thick it was.

“Do I really need to do all of this? Can’t you just pick something out?” I asked, already feeling stressed.

“I don’t want you to be dressed in something you’re not comfortable in. It’s better you decide.” I nodded. It was nice of him to let me pick what I wanted to wear; though I almost preferred him picking for me.

“Oh, well, thank you. I’ll look through immediately.” He nodded and left with his brothers, Strife still teasing him about bringing me as his date. I shook my head, smiling, and sat back down.

“I didn’t know the boss was taking you out,” Nora said playfully. I groaned.

“Don’t you start too.”

My thoughts on Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection

So I finally saw the Code Geass movie last night and OH MAN DO I HAVE A LOT OF THOUGHTS.

First of all I think I should start this out by saying this series came into my life at a very weird time I’d say. I first watched the show when I was in 7th grade (13 years old) and I don’t know why but it stuck with me. As soon as the last episode finished I immediately hit start on episode 1 (ah the good old days when Bandai had all the episodes on Youtube) to see what I was missing my first viewing. Since then I have easily watched the series over 10 times over both in English and Japanese. The show (and the fanfiction let’s be real here) got me through a lot of tough times. In my freshmen year of high school, I really took a turn for the worst and seriously thought I would die before I turned 15. That was when I met @projectcluclu and she (along with the show) became a really key part of my life. Her fics really made me fall in love with the pairing Lelouch and CC even more than I already had been with before. The pairing itself became a real comfort for me and just. TLDR: Code Geass is really important to me.

Writing now as a junior in college (20 years old), I could still say this series has my heart. Have I grown older now and seen many other things (mostly not anime related things)? Yes. Do I notice the endless plotholes in the story and how certain characters I once hated are actually okay and the characters I thought were flawless could actually be rather despicable? Yes again. But this story as a whole still makes my heart go BOOM. 

NOW TO THE MOVIE!

So when I first heard they were making a movie I rolled my eyes. I get it was an anniversary and the show had had many other specials before such as Lelouch’s Birthday, Nunnally in Wonderland, etc. However, this one was going to make or break this show. The creators seemed to know this and pulled something I laugh so hard at but at the same time THEY KNOW THEY GET TO MAKE THE CAKE AND EAT IT TOO. After realizing that “oh shit. We really did have the perfect ending. Legit half the viewers are going to be upset no matter what we do” they decided. “YOU ALL CAN THINK WHATEVER YOU WANT. This is an alternate reality.” Now, to me this was a cop out for sure. They knew no matter what they did, someone would be upset. Even I joked around with my sister and said if Lelouch got with anyone else but CC in the movie I would burn all my Code Geass merch. Still, the war still goes on from the original show whether he is dead or not. The creators wanted the ending to be ambiguous, but couldn’t even handle the inner-fandom war when the ending first happened over 10 years ago that they were like HE IS DEAD STOP FIGHTING. 

All that being said, I obviously knew I had to see this movie. I’ll admit the spoilers that it was a CluClu ending did give me a slight push to hit buy tickets on my online order, but I knew it was important to my sister and I. We drove an hour away to go see it and the theater was actually pretty damn packed. We anticipated being 2 of like 7 people there but it was FILLED. It was pretty cool to here people talking about the timeline under their breath and getting excited about the movie. So the movie. My God I laughed so hard. Like tears were streaming from my face. First, I saw it in English. I love my Johnny Young Lelouch so much and Kate Higgins as CC is great. Everyone else had the same voices as well but. It literally appeared everyone but CC forgot how to say Suzaku’s name and called him “Sooz-a-koo.” Legit sounded like fucking Shinjuki. The first time LELOUCH said it I was like who he is talking ab- OMFG ARE YOU KIDDING ME. My sister and I were in tears and I was shaking so bad. The new characters got me confused. Where the fuck was this big ass nation in the show? (Obviously non-existent as this is an alternate universe”) But I was like what is geass did anyone at the studio actually figure it out? In the show they got nowhere close to explaining it, but we got a very good understanding on what it does, it’s limitations, who had it and why, etc. This movie was like oh you have geass?! CHECK MINE OUT! The princess (at least I think she was a princess) was weird? That scene with her and her brother in the bath after she saw her prophecy was fucked. I laughed so hard again as everyone around me was saying WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT? With these new characters, why is Cornelia now the head of them? 

My brain did not take it seriously and just laughed at how crack-fic this movie was. They showed almost every character and it was beautiful and almost bought me to actually cry no matter how weirdly they were placed and who they were placed with. Like why was Schneizel with Rakshata?? In a daycare place?? Why?? Ohgi and Viletta’s wedding though. My heart exploded Lloyd and Rakshata dancing? I approve. THE BABY? I approve. 

The main characters. I know it has been ten years and it could be seen, and there were definitely moments where they were, out of character. One thing I saw a lot of before I saw it was that CC was out of character because she cared so much for Lelouch but to me? I think she was pretty in character. It had been a long time for her and Lelouch. As soon as Lelouch died, Shirley bought his body to CC and she had to take care of him as they looked for his lost consciousness. I imagine she was a bitch in the beginning to him but quickly realized she did this. 

She did this.

She is the reason Lelouch is alive at all.

This is why I believe she was in character. It shows how she is not a stagnant character from the beginning of the story. When first knowing about her in episode five of the series, it was clear she was a stone cold bitch who made her own rules for her life (which makes her CC my favorite character so I’m not saying this as a bad thing). As the show moved forward, we saw her at her most vulnerable and how as a child she was desperate for someone to love her. After her own geass story and her immortality, she saw quickly it must have not been in the cards for her and how she was “utterly alone.” Even as she and Lelouch started to become closer to each other, she was rather distant. I don’t think she really let it show how important he had become to her until her backstory episode 15 of R2 when she would not let him take her immortality. Even when she was dying, mind you the only reason she went after Lelouch in the first place, she was crying at the thought of leaving. In the penultimate episode of the series, she and Lelouch had a very touching scene that Kallen had to ruin, but she voiced her care for him. Therefore, in the movie when it shows her caring so much for him, I do not find it out of character for her. It was already shown in the show and sound episodes that she was not sure what she thought her feelings for Lelouch were and she was confused and frightened by them. She was afraid she ruined his life by giving him the power in the first place, and she was selfish enough to do it again by reviving him knowing full well he intended to die for all the things he did in the rebellion. 

I teared up at the trailer watching CC cry trying to find Lelouch in C’s world. You could tell that man is her new “meaning for living” so to say and she realized how close she was to losing him again. I teared up when they were in the knightmare and Lelouch was about to issue a surrender. She pulled her gun on him similar to episode 7 of the show and told him this was not the Lelouch she knew and bought back. That moment of shaky tears and words made Lelouch into his self again. They are the missing pieces the other has always lacked. They are better off together and they know it. Another reason why the scene at the end hit so strong when he told her he would follow LL and abandon the name Lelouch. He was stating how he was ready to let go of his past and begin a new life with her. Her face welling up and crying. Those scenes of them together were my favorite parts of the movie for the obvious ship reason but also for the fact that I felt more connections to the original story and the characters seemed to be staying true to their old selves. 

Lelouch. He was pretty much in character. I do believe leaving Nunnally to make her own choices and let her grow up is something he would do. After all the lessons CC told him about keeping people you love at a distance. He was a little more flirty than usual but again? The scenes that mattered the most, he was Lelouch. 

Suzaku. Excuse me Soozakoo was a pretty much his character from R2. Kind of a douchebag with a heart of gold. His scenes with Lelouch were very very in character and really touching.

Kallen was a little out of character. The one scene that touched my heart is when she cried (which by the way was fucking hilarious because the English cry was so bad) when Lelouch kept staring at her with his dead eyes. That was a really beautiful scene and I could admit that even though I despise the two of them together.

Everyone else was pretty much thrown in with no explanation. Ohgi apologizing to Lelouch made 0, no pun intended, sense. Cornelia leading this new nation? This new nation of a whole? How did Lelouch know where everything was and how to work this foreign computer network and equipment? Why was mostly everyone else not phased by the fact that Lelouch was alive? So many things were not explained in this movie.

THE ANIMATION. The characters were beautiful as ever but damn. Sometimes they left blobs and mouths moving and it was so funny. The close up shot of the camels had me laughing in my seat.

THE ENDING. And I mean the post-credit ending. I feel like the creators found this famous fanart of Lelouch and CC:

And were like LET’S GO WITH THAT! They were pretty much dressed like this and looked like they were having a wedding type thing? But they gave a weird vampire feel which was hm. Okay? 

Overall, this movie was what it was. An anniversary movie to give the fans and give some more spotlight on Lelouch and CC’s relationship. In the moments it had its key characters, it was beautiful. Hell, it was all beautiful. However, it really did feel I was watching a crack-fic fanfiction in HD. That being said, I would not change anything about this movie. My heart is so full and I was smiling the entire time. So glad I got to go see it!

Two days ago a group of vile humans broke in to our home at night, assaulted our workers, some of the children, drugged 2 of our little girls, and kidnapped a 15 year old girl that we had just received 24 hours prior.

I couldn't wrap my head around what had happened. Today, I cannot stop the tears from flowing. We have lost one of the girls that was drugged. At 12:50 am this morning she threw herself from the balcony of the home. One of our girls, just 8 years old, witnessed the entire thing. It's believed the drugs in her system effected her brain. We are waiting on the toxicology reports.

She has never been suicidal. These monsters took her life.

Karen was only 11 years old. She was the second girl that we received after opening the home. She came to us when it was discovered that her mother and her lesbian partner had been abusing her. They raped her, using a glass bottle. The glass bottle broke and tore her uterus, which had to be removed.

She came to us a very broken and traumatized child. But, the love that was poured in to this child transformed her heart.

Her dream was to become a mother one day and have a lot of children. She was a sweet girl that was eager to help care for the babies in the home. She was learning how to read, and was so excited about the new life she was given.

She once said to our Director, "I know that Jesus loves me." He asked why and she replied, "Because He sent me here."

Even after the abuse that she endured by the hands of someone that was supposed to protect her, she learned that there is a merciful God that loved her and that He sent His son to save her. She loved Jesus. Today, He welcomed her home.

We are all grieving this tremendous loss. The child that saw her jump, the children and the caretakers that found her, the children that loved her like a sister; all need your prayers, desperately.

I don't know what is happening, other than the enemy is attacking us hard. My God is merciful. He is good. He is not moved. It will take a miracle for the child that was kidnapped to be rescued. A policeman told us that it's as if the earth opened and swallowed her. There is no trace, nothing.

Wherever she is, so is my Lord. He has not abandoned her. He is just. Their day will come.

I cannot thank you enough for your prayers. They mean everything to us right now. We will come through this, changed, but we will come through it. I will fight harder and I will only press in to enemy territory deeper than before. Keep with us, please.

Hold your children a little tighter tonight. I know I am.

“I’m not that little girl you have to protect anymore” ~ Interview with Yukana (Meiling’s VA) in Animage 06/2018

I had the chance to give a look to the interview with Meiling Li’s voice actress Yukana that is being featured on the Animage issue currently in stores, the June one, and I felt so touched by her words that I decided to make my usual “highlights” post! This interview is highly focused on Meiling, so if you don’t like her....you know what to do! As usual, I’m not a native English speaker, so forgive me if my translation sounds a bit off. The title of the interview is “She became a little bit more mature ahead (of everyone else)”

Yukana starts the interview saying how she didn't even think Meiling would appear at all in the Clear Card anime, because she’s is an anime-only character, although the interviewer points out that she blends so well with the CCS world, that is hard to believe she's an "original character".

Yukana continues saying that when they announced that CCS would get a new series, she was very happy and wanted to fully support it as "audience" , because it's a work full of memories for her. When she met Aya Hisakawa (Kero's VA) during the recordings for a different work, she congratulated her for reprising her role as Kero-chan. Then, precisely in those days, when she looked at her schedule book she found "Card Captor Sakura" and was honestly believing there was a mistake or something, because she didn't understand how Meiling could fit in the story since she doesn't appear in the manga...it was a very pleasant surprise for her as well! Yukana points out often how much she loves CCS.

She was very surprised when Meiling said "I have the intention to go to Japan during summer vacations" in episode 6, thinking "Will I really join everyone else? When is this 'summer vacation’ ?" Then, Meiling finally shows up in episode 13, and Yukana says how she enjoyed the fact that she stayed at Sakura's home, in a place where they had the opportunity to get closer because very "intimate". She mentions how the scene of Meiling drying Sakura's hair left a strong impression on her, because in that situation the two became very close.

The interviewer goes on mentioning that Meiling looked rather matured.  Yukana: "If you look at the previous series by Meiling's point of view, you can actually perceive it as a story of a girl's growth. Her beloved Syaoran was struggling with the events surrounding the Clow cards. Precisely because she loved him a lot, she wanted to help him with her own strength, but she's got no magical powers. She obtained both knowledge and physical abilities by putting a lot of effort, but no matter how she works hard for it, she'll never be able to obtain magical powers. Such young Meiling could not accept this sad reality, that's why I think she was trying to give some kind of stability to her heart by considering Sakura a rival, in the beginning.  While Sakura and Syaoran were experiencing growth as people who can handle magical powers, she had to fight hard against all the things that resulted in nothing, Syaoran's feelings included, and had to overcome them, so she became a little more mature in the process."

The interviewer asks if the reason why Meiling avoided Syaoran, who worried over her, was coming from that experience.  Yukana: "Yes, probably. Meiling is already confident with herself, so I think she looks at still clumsy Syaoran feeling like a mother or a sister. She understands that Syaoran is doing it out of care for her, but to Meiling sometimes it seems (his worry) is misdirected. So I was thinking that, slightly annoyed by that, she's probably feeling like "It's not me the person you must watch over. I'm not that little girl who must be protected by you anymore." I think that she conveyed a little of that feeling to Syaoran, when they had that conversation over the phone while Meiling was going back to Hong Kong."

The interviewer says "It seems Meiling graduated from the childhood love" Yukana: "The Meiling of the previous series was just content with being looked after and treasured by Syaoran. But, she ended up realizing that being protected like you would do with a person weaker than you, out of sense of duty and desire to protect, wasn't the feeling she wanted (from Syaoran). Of course, I think there isn't just that, but...once she realized that, being treated with care became also difficult for her."

The interview continues mentioning that Yukana had a lot of fun while Meiling and Sakura prepared gyoza together. The recordings were being held at evening so she became really hungry after that scene! Yukana also mentions she liked the episode where everyone became animals. Her favorite was Tomoyo as a sheep who was carefreely sitting while everyone else was in a panic (note: I think Yukana's memories of the episode are slightly off here).

The interviewer takes the opportunity to say that Meiling's care for Sakura and Syaoran looks similar to Tomoyo's. Yukana "Tomoyo gave Meiling a lot of support in the previous series. Because she is someone who had to get over (love) all by herself, and now she thinks about "Sakura's happiness" first and foremost. I think we can say that, just like the current Meiling, she's a character whose priority is someone else's feelings, even if they aren't directed towards herself. But this time, it seems to me that Meiling has got a very firm focus in her heart, so much that she doesn't need to sympathize with someone else to carry on her own will anymore. We can also say that Meiling and Tomoyo's relationship is one where they can understand eachother without even exchanging a word. In Tomoyo's case, Sakura is ultimately the focus, but Meiling gives me a different impression, Sakura and Syaoran are both important existences to her at the same level”.

The interview continues with Yukana's/Meiling's impressions on Akiho, where she says it was interesting how she immediately put herself in an equal position as Akiho, once she realized that she didn't use keigo with her to put distance between them, but just because it was a habit. Yukana remarks how amazing it is that she can assess these situations without even being a Japanese native speaker.

As expected, the interviewer asks about the Cantonese lines she had to say during Meiling's stay. Yukana says that after receiving the scenario, she started to look for a Cantonese speaking person in a hurry, through the friend of an acquaintance. Since nowadays Japanese anime is a worldwide thing, she wanted to make sure her pronounciation would be as close as possible to the real Cantonese language, so she had this person recording some things that someone living in Hong Kong would normally say, and some other things a bit more slowly, then she practiced on those.

The interview concludes with the interviewer saying that, as a fan, she/he hopes to see Meiling again, and Yukana says that while she'd be very happy if she had the opportunity to appear again, she doesn't want it to be forced, because it must be fitting the story. If the possibility for a proper role for Meiling does exist, she would be glad to participate again! BONUS:

In a small circle on the side of the interview, Yukana talks about the scene where Meiling dries Sakura's hair. Drying someone else's hair, or having her hair dried by someone else is an act she likes a lot. Hair holds a lot of meanings for a girl, and touching someone's hair or letting them touch it makes the “distance of the heart” shrink. She feels that thanks to that scene, Meiling and Sakura's relationship deepened once more.

In another circle, Yukana mentions how she feels that this time, starting by a new relationship with Syaoran, Meiling became sort of a guide to Sakura, who’s currently got her heart shaken by many events. Probably this seemingly more mature Meiling wanted Sakura to feel and think about certain things. Among her family, friends and also her role as a cardcaptor, in the whole situation surrounding Sakura, which one is the most important thing to her. She wants her to grasp it tightly and think about what is the best way to protect all of those above. Yukana says that although there are wonderful adults like Fujitaka, this is a story about children gaining something with their own strength. In this situation, the current Meiling becomes sort of an adviser.

Aaaand that’s it! Honestly this interview made me love Meiling even more, but most of all, it surprised me because I didn’t even imagine Yukana had such a good insight on CCSakura’s world.

why shadowhunters is more important than the mortal instruments

as a young and impressionable 13/14 yr old, i absolutely loved the mortal instruments. I read through those books at lightning speed, i couldn’t get enough. I cried when I found out Jace and Clary were siblings, rejoiced when it was revealed that they weren’t. My heart gave a happy little jump when Alec and Magnus kissed in City of Glass.

When sebastian/johnathan came back, it felt like I was experiencing harry potter and the order of the phoenix all over again. It was so addicting. And when Magnus broke it off with Alec I was devastated. When everyone had their strange hell-dreams, I cried reading both Clary’s and Alec’s. I finished the last 200 pages of City of Heavenly Fire in a blur, reading as fast as I could and then I went back and read it again.

I adored those books; the fantasy, the romance, the plot twists, all of it. And when the movie came out after my 15th birthday, i was elated. My sister and I talked about it for weeks. At this point I’d been on tumblr for 2 years but I was so confused as to why it was getting such bad reviews. 

I definitely get it now. Though at first I hated the show. I didn’t like that it was called Shadowhunters because it didn’t give CC the credit I thought she deserved. I gave up on it after the second episode aired. 

Later in May, I was sick for a couple of days and decided to give the show another chance. I watched the entire season in 2 days. I was so surprised with myself. At this point I’d been out for a little over a year, but I couldn’t figure out why Alec’s storyline got to me. Until I realized that I was in the same situation. 

Granted, I wasn’t a gay man in his twenties, but having spent my entire teenage life questioning and hating myself, i couldn’t help but relate to his character. When I read the books, I was very much a clary/jace stan. Of course I liked the little bits of magnus/alec we got, but I felt ashamed for approving this “unnatural” relationship. the joys of internalized homophobia :’). 

When alec proposed to lydia, I remember feeling so afraid for him. Because a few short months earlier, that’s how I thought I’d end up: in a loveless marriage for the sake of my family. 

But when he hopped down and kissed magnus, finally doing something for himself that felt right, i understood. I imagine the giddy feeling of kissing someone you had “forbidden” feelings for felt similar to what happened with me. The rush of relief when he found out his siblings approved was what I felt when I told my sister I was dating a girl and she hugged me. 

Kissing magnus took a lot of courage to do in front of his family. the feeling of knowing you were doing something to make you happy, even if it went against your parents is something i can fully understand. After all, that’s how I felt when I held a girl’s hand (in a romantic way) for the first time in front of my parents.

There are so many more instances of shared experiences, but that’s not the point of this. What I’m trying to get out is that I understand why i enjoyed the books so much five years ago. It’s because they were so unreal. I wanted to get lost in this fantasy land of heroes with angel blood and demons, the world with magic and wonder and family and love.

But shadowhunters is so real. It deals with so many real-life problems, from racism to sexism to homophobia and fighting your inner demons (and the ones outside, of course). I can see little bits of myself in every single character. The importance izzy places on her looks - it makes her feel powerful. Simon’s nerdiness and unrequited love. Clary’s refusal to give up her mom and her past. The way Magnus protects his heart. How jace acts tough, but is really just soft inside. 

But most of all, I see myself in Alec. The oldest sibling with the heaviest responsibilities. so far in the closet he denies it until someone comes along and tells him it’s okay. the self hatred and the weight they carry on their shoulders. The one who feels safe and happy (for the first time in a long time) in their first relationship. 

that’s why shadowhunters is more important to me than the books. it’s so much more real and profound.

So I go to the left and the left and gas it a little bit, I was going like 10 mph as I was taking off, and the light turns yellow, I cross the crosswalk, then the light turns red and I drive under the set of lights.. These 2 bike cops came immediately after me... So long story short, it was my first time being pulled over, I took the seatbelts off, and I ran the red light because there was a guy pulling into a parking stop right in front of me and I was too worried looking around afraid I was going to hit a jaywalking tourists. I know people always think they're right, but I honestly think I didn't do anything wrong here. I got a $25 seat belt fine and a warning for running the red light, which is complete BS.
