my laptop charger uhhhhhh. met its end in a very permanent, very fire hazardy kind of way last week. while waiting for a replacement I decided to try and get some work done at the library and was asking around for some urban fantasy (extra points for a mystery plot of some kind) recommendations to check out while I was there

the eric carter series was mentioned a couple of times, AND had the added bonus of having a necromancer for a main character. I love necromancers. someday I'm gonna play one in a game instead of immediately defaulting to vampires.

Heyyy….so I’m back to posting arts momentarily I guess (not like I went anywhere though. Still spending my life staring at a iPad screen for nine hours straight….hate this routine I loosely call “living” so much hahahahaha chronically online potato sack. Not doing so hot I can’t even anymore!)

Anyways uh-so I have a lot of scraped things because I’m loosing energy to do creative works I can’t keep pushing myself. Kinda accepted that I’ve weighed myself down exhausted myself with all this pressure and I need to let go. But it’s hard and honestly the last thing I want is fatigue again. But guess it’s a cycle for a reason huh. Can’t fight it off, just stuck powerless and letting it happen begrudgingly

So I made this unfinished gif (you can tell because the hand is missing and the background looks unidentifiable. Plus cigarette smoke just gave up on existing wow so relatable). Honestly I kinda set myself up to get stuck on the process of this anyways since I don’t like animating on Procreate. The layering frames system is a pain to navigate. Only reason I wanted to animate Mr. Puzzles using Procreate is for some level of gained “experience” and added brush diversity for the glitch effect. But guess it wasn’t enough to keep my attention. Started it on August 5th, probably abandoned it two days later or so. I don’t know it feels like a long long time ago by now but that’s just because I’ve been overwhelmed mentally and can’t keep track of days passing bye

In case you're a stranger stumbling across this, I am an author on r/nosleep over on Reddit. I write first person POV dark fantasy/horror stories, mostly with a light touch. Topics include but are not limited to fairy-infested theme parks, frustrated dimension hoppers struggling with unemployment and women in wedding dresses roaming haunted forests. If any of that sounds interesting to you, feel free to check out my Reddit account. Or maybe you'd care to take a look at my subreddit, r/CrypticPark. As of now, the bulk of my work can be found there.

I suppose everyone who's following this blog knows me from Reddit. I plan to post my stories here as well as to r/nosleep. I find that the landscape on that subreddit has changed a lot lately, and not exactly in the best way. So maybe branching out will do me and my creative work some good. Let's see how it goes!

I gotta admit, I'm not at all used to how Tumblr works, so this post is as much as a greeting as it is me dipping my toes into what's sure to be a raging sea. Do folks even post texts like these here? Guess I'll see. Have mercy on me, is what I'm saying. I'm about as social media-savvy as your stereotypical granny. In fact, I am typing this with my screen dangerously close to my face, squinting at the keyboard like a vole. Still, I'll try my best to figure out this platform and make your stay on my blog as pleasant as I possibly can. I admittedly had fun playing with colors and fonts for my profile, so I hope there'll be good things to come.

One of your recent asks got me thinking, what is going to happen when V2 eventually hits its own expiration? How will Michael feel or what could he possibly do in this scenario?

i like to think michael and v2 tend to be much more...well-prepared for this eventuality than gabriel and v1 were. they're not sure how long v2 can go, given that through hell's meddling it's essentially cheated death, but it likely also isn't forever. however, v2 is aware of this and, again contrary to v1, is much better at not getting stuck on existentialist dread and instead working on a solution to its death. they both know it may be inevitable, but in the same way v2 takes up a lot of research in helping michael maintain his body, michael learns to be quite a skilled mechanic and v2 likely becomes something of a ship of theseus with the two consistently replacing its parts (michael becomes highly adept at modifying scrap - with the help of access to heaven's forge - to copy v2's parts). this does lead v2 to question its identity at some points, stemming all the way back to its original reconstruction, but it comes to the conclusion that this may just be the nature of the machine...or perhaps of living far beyond one's life expectancy.

v2 knows its mind is the most delicate part of itself though, a perfectly balanced quantum computer that must be maintained as the core part of itself because there's no scrap that can replace it in any other machine. this was the point of failure for v1 as well, and they're pretty doubtful hell would be feeling generous a second time. in a timeline where v2 continues to survive, i like to think it's maintained itself much better than v1 and so observes all that happens with it when it dies including its subsequent resurrection, inspiring it and michael in a likely similar capacity. to build a quantum computer, but one augmented by the divine, engineered by v2 and constructed in the heavenly forge by michael with both collaborating on the alignment of the crystal structure within it. v2 understands its own configuration and how to improvement upon it, while michael's knowledge of esoteric mathematics allow them to build a computer powered by the divine. uriel's knowledge base proves invaluable for this endeavor and it takes quite some time (many, many failures in prototyping, plus likely having the realization they'll need to also construct a more heavenly shell given that this computer would melt repurposed scrap lol), but i enjoy v2 being the first divine computer. importantly, this isn't a shift like v1's, who is now essentially part angel, part machine - v2's is subtler, still entirely a machine but now running on perfect, godly equations. it almost has a hard time keeping up with itself at first but it isn't put off by it since it was once a machine that was too human, so now it's a machine too divine.

however, i will add that in the event v2 reached the end of its lifespan, i think michael would seek his comfort in the idea that he cannot possibly last forever either. he knows he will die, he knows he will reach his end too, and v2 has proven, at least in his mind, that it has a soul. he would commit it to the earth, where it was born and what it had always wanted to protect, and he would join it there when he finally felt himself wilting. maintaining his faith as he does, michael would truly believe v2 is waiting somewhere for him, that the code woven by that computer is no different from DNA, that the mind it housed, all its emotions, its thoughts, its consciousness, had given it a spark of the divine. that humanity, from god, had passed down their soul to this grandchild of creation. its place is not in heaven or hell, but somewhere he doesn't know yet, somewhere finally fully beyond the physical where it doesn't need a body or blood. he's not sure if that means he's at last given into some kind of heresy, but he will continue to pray each day, asking v2 to help guide him when he finally joins it.

I just saw your tags on that post about little communities and sorry for being on anon but I feel shy today but still want to say I remember when I was new to Tumblr and your blog was one of the first I found and the Headcanons blog was how I first started using Discord and I just wanted to say thank you for all the cool stuff you do even if I see you a bit less lately and I love you and all the people I've gradually got to know through the Hermitcraft fandom!!

I'll always be really glad I go to do something that lasted in people's minds as much as that time period did, as well as really benefit from the community myself. This was how I first got comfortable with writing and reading fanfic, and the way people added onto each other's ideas and just bounced stuff around has stuck with me so much. I'm happy to see that some of the other people who remember it as warmly as I do are still around and in the community 💙

There's something about Warhammer 40,000 lore that just makes no damn sense to me...what even is the appeal of Nurgle?

As I understand it there are four Big Bad Demon Gods who rule from within the Warp: Khorne, Tzeench, Slaanesh, and Nurgle.

Khorne is the Big Bad Demon God of violence cranked up to eleven, so I can see the appeal of people who just want to rage and brutalize and rip and tear want to fall into that following.

Tzeench is the Big Bad Demon God of knowledge and secrets, so I can see the appeal of people who want to learn things that they normally aren't allowed to learn want to fall into that following.

Slaanesh is the Big Bad Demon God of lust and pleasure, so I can see the appeal of people who just want to party hard with sex/drugs/rock-and-roll and not be bothered with anything else want to fall into that following.

Then there's Nurgle, the Big Bad Demon God of disease, sick, and all things gross. Why would anyone willingly want to fall in when all they have to look forward too is being wracked with sick 24/7? What kind of sick fuck would even look at someone with smallpox and go "yeah that's legit sign me up"?

Anyway what brought this all on was the disservice I did to myself by watching "Hammer and Bolter", which has some narratively fun and mind-numbing stories but holy shit is the animation stiff as hell. It painfully reminds me of the Marvel cartoons from the 1960's at least until it's broken up by the anime-CGI characters that get thrown in. At least the background art is gorgeous.

Shrieking into the void for a few seconds because I just hit 25 pages & 11k words on the (DM requested) INSANELY detailed backstory for the new campaign I’ll be starting soon.

I've officially hit novella territory & I'm still not done _(:3 」∠)_ this is the longest thing I've written in ages & I kinda equally impressed/horrified.

And I thought I overdid it when Amoré's backstory came out 17 pages. 😮‍💨

Watch this be what makes me learn to print & bind books cuz now that I know how long it is I'm consumed by a need to hold it physically.
