A Study in an Utter Lack of Regard for Personal Safety, featuring Mal Bertha and Carlos De Vil
“I don’t know why I agreed to this,” Mal says.
“Yes, you do,” Carlos replies, hefting the duffel bag over his shoulder. It clinks dangerously as he moves, and she eyes it with suspicion.
And, okay, he has a point. Mal may be the leader of this gang, but if Carlos said ‘jump’, Mal would say, ‘how high?’. It’s a side effect of all the gang activity; you learn to trust each other with things that normal people have never even thought to trust another person with.
“Okay, revise: I don’t know what we’re doing here.”
Carlos meets her eye, gaze as sharp as she’s ever seen it. He smirks like an Isle boy, wide and wicked, and says, “Science.”
“Science?”
“Just trust me.”
Without anymore preamble whatsoever, Carlos begins traipsing through the woods. With single-minded purpose, he stomps over the weeds and roots, directly into the belly of the beast. Mal swears, rushing to follow.
“I just don’t understand what kind of science,” she smacks at a branch before she can run right into it, “we’re going to be doing in the Enchanted Forest.”
“The magical kind,” Carlos says, not pausing in his trek. “That’s why I brought you.”
“Isn’t that a contradiction?”
He abruptly stops. She nearly runs into him from behind. He whirls around on his heel and says, “No, it’s not. There’s actually an entire field of scientific study here in Auradon dedicated to the way magic interacts with things like biology and chemistry. And cosmology, but that’s more philosophical… Anyway, you,” he sticks an accusatory finger into her face. “didn’t tell me that there’s a special magic lake that washes away curses!”
She blinks at him. His phrasing is very interesting, given that all she’d said was that it washed away the love spell they casted on Ben, all that time ago. “It doesn’t just wash away curses.”
He rolls his eyes. “Spells, then.” He huffs theatrically. “The point is, you’ve been holding out on me!”
“Okay, wait,” she holds a hand up. “You dragged me all the way out here so you can do some freaky science experiment—“
“It’s not freaky.”
“—on the Enchanted Lake?”
“Yeah,” he says, easily. “Are you coming?”
“Obviously.” She scoffs. “I’m just wondering what all the secrecy was about.”
“Revenge, obviously. For holding out on me. Now, can you just show me where the damn thing is?”
“You don’t know? Then why were you leading?” She groans. “Is this part of your ‘revenge’?”
He rolls his eyes. “I thought I heard water.”
“Well, you’re shit out of luck, because Ben made me close my eyes when he showed it to me.”
Carlos stares at her, genuinely scandalized. “And you did?”
“Ben is like if a kitten were a person. I wasn’t worried about it.”
He frowns. “Whatever you say, killer.” And, it’s like, yeah, on the Isle closing her eyes just because someone had asked would’ve been a fast way to get a switchblade buried in her gut, but she’d been playing the part of sweet-girl-with-a-crush, just the way Evie had taught her, so closing her eyes had just made the most sense.
“You gonna tell FG about those ‘Isle instincts’ you got going on right now?”
He smiles at her, all kinds of smug. “FG loves me. I don’t got any ‘Isle instincts’, didn’t you know?” He bats his eyes at her, expression suddenly the picture of shattered, wide-eyed innocence. “My mommy hurt me and kept me inside all the time. Gang violence? Oh, evil, I wouldn’t have been caught dead doing anything like that!”
“You know, puppy,” she laughs, reaching forward to ruffle his curls. “sometimes you scare me.” He ducks from the affection, shooting her a tilted grin.
It takes them the better part of an hour to find it. By the time they do, Mal is sweaty, dehydrated, and adorned with at least two scratches from thorny plants. They had run into a total of three (three) weird, fucky-looking creatures that Mal didn’t know forests in Auradon could have. Weird, lithe, rodent-like things with sharp teeth and too many eyes... She’d had to do some creative magic to avoid them. Overall, she’s not pleased with the experience.
Finally, though, they find it.
Just how she remembers it: granite arch on a silver dais. Ivy crawling up the sides, flowers dotting the bank. It’s... deeply picturesque. The sun hanging high in the sky above it, framed by mountains. Even the breeze smells like flowers, like this is some sort of fucking romance novel.
The fact that Auradon has places like these, just, sitting around, and nobody even bothers to visit them half the time drives her slightly insane. It makes her want to grip Ben by the back of his skinny neck and shove his face in the wild, freezing, rocky surf of the Isle. But that isn’t very ‘good’ of her, so she pretends the feeling isn’t there.
Carlos drops the duffel bag onto the dais, just by the edge of the water. He seems completely unaffected by the beauty around him, and truly, that’s half the fun of doing anything with Carlos; he’s dressed in Isle clothes like he doesn’t give a shit, an old ratty pair of studded combat boots, a shirt covered in patches and pins, hair haphazardly dyed. He breaks up the serenity of the fairytale image of this place, a smudge amidst all the pastels.
The inside of the duffel appears to be, almost entirely, small glass vials. He pulls out a thermos and dunks it into the water, twisting the cap shut.
“Is that legal?” She asks, plopping down beside him. He’s crouched over the lip, hands braced on his knees as he stares impassively down at the crystalline water. It’s reflecting the sunlight, and somehow the glittery light is shining off of it in hues of pink.
“Definitely not,” he replies, gently setting his thermos of contraband back into his duffel. “Technically, we aren’t even supposed to be here.”
“Wait, seriously?” She watches as he pulls vials of various liquids from the bag. “But Ben brought me here?”
“Special privileges. Those of royal blood are permitted to enter public property that would otherwise be restricted, providing it has substantial religious significance. And by ‘religious’, they just mean—“
“—fairytale-relevant.” She finishes. “I can’t believe you memorized that whole damn book.”
“S not a book.”
“I can’t believe you memorized the entire Constitution of the United Kingdoms of Auradon,” she drawls. “Still, it’s weird. Somehow I can’t imagine Ben doing something like that. He just, hates breaking the rules.”
Carlos finishes laying out his perfectly even line of glass vials, before selecting one carefully. “It’s easy to hate breaking the rules when the rules for you are so lax.”
“Preach,”
He hands her the vial. “Put a spell on this.”
She takes it, raising her eyebrow at it critically. It’s clear, sloshing around in the sealed vial as she eyes it. “I don’t have any love spell cookies on hand.”
He rolls his eyes. “I already know it works on the love spell. Put another spell on it.”
“This seems like a very lax way to conduct an experiment,” she says. “Any requests?”
“I’m just satisfying my curiosity, not writing for a scientific journal. And, I don’t know. Make it sweet or something. It’s just water.” He pulls out a notebook and a pencil, opening it to a fresh page with confident, practiced motions. With ease, he makes a table with five columns. On one side, he writes, substance. Then, spell. Then, time submerged. Then, observations. Then, effects.
“Does anyone know we’re out here?”
“You think I would tell people we’re going to go flagrantly ignore Auradon’s laws regarding private religious property?”
“Fair enough,” she mutters. “Evie and Jay?”
“Yeah, I mentioned it.” He gestures with the eraser of his pencil. “Now hurry up.”
She rolls her eyes, but acquiesces. She doesn’t need her spellbook to do magic anymore, which is nice, because FG’s been way sweeter on them since they put the spellbook and the mirror in the museum. No, magic isn’t about some arbitrary collections of poems in a book; it’s about intention, power, the sleek possibilities of the meaning they’ve given to the things they say.
Power gathering in her clavicle and leaking hotly from her eyes, she says, “Sweet like candy, sweet like cake, make this water so sugary it aches.”
Words and rhyme schemes was how she learned magic, and so it is what her magic associates with power. The legends of fae and contracts and names speak for themselves, after all. Magic itself does not require words, but for her, half-faery she is, there is nothing more powerful.
“Did it work?”
“You doubting me, De Vil?”
He rolls his eyes. “It’s science. I have to be sure.” And then he yanks the vial from her fingers. He sets it down, twisting open the cork. He pulls an eyedropper from the bag and gently sets it inside, sucking up some of the water. Then, he sticks his tongue out, and drops a glob of it onto his tongue.
“Well?”
He smacks his lips. Holds up the eyedropper. Rolling her eyes, she sticks her tongue out for him. He lets another drop fall, and saccharine sweetness explodes on her tongue. It tastes like funfetti cake, which is exactly what she’d been picturing when she spelled it.
He takes it back and hands her a stopwatch. He holds his hand over the lake and says, “On three.”
He inhales, eyeing the lake with eyes that sparkle. With a wild, manic sort of excitement. In another life, she’s absolutely sure he would’ve been some kind of mad scientist. Maybe he’s already on his way there. “One,”
The water laps gently at the lip of the dais, perfect and undisturbed. It looks like an oil painting; the kind she’d see in Ben’s castle, ten feet tall and set into a gold frame. Pure opulence. “Two,”
It’s funny, she thinks, how all he had to do to get her to come with him was ask. He’d even made her drive. Yanked her phone from her back pocket and set the address into the GPS. And she’d done it, because she knows he hates driving. “Three,”
He dunks his hand underneath the surface. She clicks the stopwatch on.
“We’re going to do ten seconds to start. Then twenty. Then thirty.”
She groans. “When you said ‘science’, I thought we were gonna do something fun.”
“This is what you get for holding out on me—“
“Time.”
He pulls it from the surf. He goes through the motions of testing it again, before announcing, “I fucking knew it.”
“What?”
“It’s still sweet,” he shakes the vial gently. “The glass protected it.”
He makes her spell another vial, and this time, he pulls a dropper full of water from the lake. Then, he drops it into the vial. When he tests it that time, it’s not sweet anymore.
“Is it safe for us to be testing it like this?”
“Oh, it’s a flagrant violation of every lab safety rule ever made.” He’s not even looking at her, scribbling notes down.
Her eyes fall onto the water. Perfect. Clear. Gentle and glittering pink in the sunlight. Auradon. “What d’you think would happen if I drank it?”
He looks up from his notebook to deadpan, “What?”
“Like, if you drank it, it would probably just taste like water. But I’m a magical creature.”
He opens his mouth. Doesn’t say anything. Narrows his eyes in thought. Sets his pencil down with finality. Closes his mouth. Opens it again.
“Maybe it would make you, like, not able to do magic?”
“Like the barrier.”
He presses his lips into a thin line. “Yeah, like the barrier.”
“Or maybe it’d be like poison.”
“Didn’t you say you swam in it, when you were with Ben?”
‘Swam’ is a charitable word for it. She’s not going to argue, though. “Yeah, but I didn’t swallow any of it.”
He pauses for a moment, seemingly contemplating this. Then, he goes digging through his duffel, arms shoulder deep. He emerges with two empty vials. “You wanna find out?”
“Hell yeah,” she swipes one. Together, they fill their vials with the liquid. And together, they shoot them back like it’s booze.
It tastes like the way sunlight feels on her face, like the way the vines look where they climb up the granite. She hates it.
Gently, Carlos takes the vial back when she offers it, their fingertips brushing. He pulls his notebook into his lap, eye glittering as he pierces her with his gaze. “How do you feel?”
“Normal.” She says. “Well, I can sort of feel the water.”
“Feel it?”
“Like the way you can feel booze. Except it’s cool, not warm. It’s in my stomach.”
He hands her a vial. “Spell it.”
She does. It’s not sweet. She could tell as soon she said the words, though; the power didn’t gather in her, didn’t leak from her eyes like hot steam. He could tell, too. But that’s because the magic didn’t turn her eyes green, because there wasn’t any magic.
He scribbles furiously. She says, “You know, you should dunk the Anti-Magic Machine in here.”
The ‘Anti-Magic Machine’ being their awful, pre-teen colloquialism for the machine Carlos had once been developing to try and tear an exit in the barrier. He’d only just gotten it to work— put a teeny tiny hole in the sky, letting in a strange dot of unfiltered sunlight— when they were brought to Auradon. The excitement had been electric, she remembers. She’d really thought he was going to break them out.
He mumbles, “Possible effects: mind wandering,” and she snaps, hey! But then he digs around in his duffle again and emerges with a black box about a foot long and half a foot wide. It’s got ANTI-MAGIC MACHINE V3 written haphazardly one the side in metallic, silver sharpie. “I brought it to use as a control, but,” and then his eyes land on the water.
He drops it in.
It, predictably, explodes.
A fountain of water and sparks shoots upward into the air. Mal grabs Carlos by the shoulder, shoving him as hard as she can away from the explosion, jumping after him, shielding him with her body. The shockwave bursts past her, rippling through every inch and plane of her body. She gasps, heart hammering, body screaming in pain.
Then, all is quiet. Her ears pop painfully. They are laying on the riverbank, Carlos pressed into the dirt by Mal’s weight. Her arms are braced on the soil beside his temples, framing him. She attempts to catch her breath.
Carlos blinks up at her, expression only mildly put-out. The ends of his hair are smoking, and she pats them out with a shaking hand. It smears ash over his forehead. He says, very calmly, “Interesting.”
It explodes again. They’re far enough away that the shockwave is only kind of painful, and they turn to watch it. Fire sprays into the sky, surrounded on all sides by a cacophonous shower of water.
It explodes a third time, this time less intensely. The shockwave still makes her ears pop and her eyes water, but it’s nothing she isn’t used to. She pulls herself from on top of Carlos, standing. She gives him a hand up, brushing dirt and grass from his clothes.
Together, they creep over to the dais. They peer over the edge at the water. Carlos drops to his knees and sticks his arm in the water, searching blindly; eventually, he pulls the Anti-Magic Machine from the surface.
As soon as it touches the air, it catches fire.
He yelps, throwing it to the dais like it’s a roach he caught crawling on him. He hops back, hissing in pain, waving his hand back and forth. She grips his wrist, pulling the wound to her face.
It’s a third-degree, but it’s on his fingers, which sucks. She says as much.
His eyes are on the AMM. “It’s soaking wet. Why the fuck did it catch fire?”
“Beats me.” She nearly casts a healing spell on the wound; she belatedly realizes that she’s still under the Lake’s effects.
His eyes are glittering with that manic excitement again. His staring at the fire with violent passion in his face, licking his lips like a predator sizing up its prey.
On the Isle, Carlos had always been hungry for knowledge. Starving, even. He had gripped whatever he could learn in greedy hands and put it all to use as soon as he could. But on the Isle, it’d been about survival. It was about keeping their enemies off their backs, finding creative ways to save food, making a machine to escape the island.
But as soon as he came to Auradon? It stopped being for survival and started being for sport. For fun. A game he plays. Hours spent in the library, late nights in the school’s lab, doing experiments he’s not supposed to be doing with materials he’s not supposed to have. She was wrong, earlier; he already is a bit of a mad scientist.
She kicks the AMM away with her boot.
He opens his mouth to argue.
She says, “Next weekend. You make a new AMM, I bring the spellbook.”
A smile breaks across his lips. Stretches wide over his face, crinkles his eyes at the corners, bells his cheeks, warps his freckles; his hair is singed and there’s that smudge of ash on his forehead in the shape of her thumb. They’re gonna have to dress that burn, but goddamn. He’s never looked so beautiful.
He may smirk like an Isle boy, but his smile is all his own. He says, “You’re on.”
“Am I forgiven for holding out on you?”
She cradles his burned hand. He says, “Killer, I was never mad.”
She knew that already. Still, though. For that smile? She’d do anything. Not that she’d ever tell him. His head would get too big.

Neo-Burlesque Era of the 2020’s
Stephen Jay Morris
6/29/2020
©Scientific Morality
So, here we are in the year of our Lord, 2024, via the Twenty-First Century. This is very similar to the era known as “The Roaring Twenties”—the only difference being is the economy. During the 1920’s, the economy was in prosperity mode. It was party time, with nonstop divine decadence, bathtub gin, and screwing a “Flapper” in a Model T.  All was centered around sex, jazz, and booze. In response, the fundamentalists and evangelical Christians wanted to halt all sin and implement “God’s laws” across the nation. To them, it was viewed as the “End Times” because “young America was reviving Sodom and Gomorrah.” The White racists were worried that America’s borders were being invaded by illegal aliens who were mostly comprised of Anarchists and Communist spies. Is this sounding familiar?
Well, the Christians succeeded in outlawing alcohol by government-implemented “Prohibition.” However, that only served to ensure that organized crime became powerful and filthy rich. The 1920’s didn’t end well. The U.S. economy crashed in 1929 which ushered in The Great Depression. The rich got richer, and the common people got fucked. They were dirt poor.
So, how will the 2020’s decade end? Here is my educated guess.
The American people suffered from a global pandemic between 2020 and 2022, known as Corona Virus, or COVID 19. Conservative and Christian coalitions expressed their state paranoia by claiming the federal government was forcing citizens to wear masks, quarantine themselves, and take emergency vaccines. The political right was feeding fear to the masses with one alarming exaggeration after another.
Donald Trump, then President of the United States (until January 2021), was a B.T. Barnum type who cared only about himself; specifically, his money and popularity. Somehow, he paid off churches to promote him as the second coming of Christ. It worked. His base was comprised of right-wing fanatics who believed in conspiracy theories. To date, 30% of the America population are Trump cultists. At the time of his election (2016), he had zero government experience. He was a real estate tycoon whose six businesses had failed. He was the worst businessman in history. Despite all this, he got the stamp of approval from Christian churches across the country, which designated him a decent guy. The most popular thing for which he was known was a TV reality show called, “The Apprentice,” which aired from 2004 to 2017. At the time, the Millennial generation’s mentality was based on computer technology and the Internet. They had been weaned on cell phones and computers. A TV reality show host was not impressive to them. Many were a-political and anti-religion. However, many other generational types, like Gen X and Baby Boomer conservatives, were bound to Trump. President Trump knew how to manipulate Americans, particularly working-class, white people. He came out of the entertainment industry. Americans are entertainment addicts and hedonists.
Today, the work ethic in America is dead. Over the decades, Americans have wondered why they should work hard at all. Hundreds of businesses go bankrupt every month. The truth is, you only work hard for your boss so he can get rich. The plan is that you, the worker, are so occupied with working hard that you haven’t time to rebel against the capitalist system. After their long, 8-hour day, Americans want to have fun. We live in an entertainment society. It’s all silliness and sick jokes. A burlesque society predates a fascist society. Consider the 1972 American movie, “Cabaret,” a fictional movie depicting Germany’s era during 1920’s decadence: sex, cross dressing, and drunkenness. The Nazis promised German Christians they would put an end to it, and they did.
In America, people want to escape economic hardships by having fun. But the Evangelicals want to control all primal urges and create a clean-cut society. They loath sex unless it's purpose is to make more white babies. They hate sex, but they love violence against “evil people;” that is, whomever they perceive as evil.
At this moment in time, it’s all about fun and recreation. It’s not about wholesome entertainment. It’s about action movies and energy drinks. Video games about war and violence are still a hot item for the younger set. So, I declare this time in American history, “The Age of Neo-Burlesque.” That is my label for the decade.
Now, what will happen in the 2030’s? I predict that the pendulum will swing to the left. The moderate left will have to compete with the ultra-left. They will have to offer rational programs to help struggling Americans. The ultra-left will need to reorganize and try again. The political right will be despised by working class Americans and become a pariah to them.
At last, a Hollywood ending!

How Does the Sunset Make Jaisalmer Look Like Gold?
Jaisalmer, known as the "Golden City," is famous for its unique charm, stunning architecture, and captivating desert landscape. When the sun sets over Jaisalmer, it creates a magical effect, casting a warm, golden glow over the city’s sandstone buildings and rolling sand dunes. This golden hue makes Jaisalmer look as if it’s blanketed in gold, creating an enchanting atmosphere that attracts travelers from around the world.
Tumblr media
The Golden Glow of Jaisalmer’s Sandstone Architecture
One of the main reasons Jaisalmer shines like gold at sunset is due to its architecture. The city’s buildings, including palaces, forts, and havelis, are constructed from yellow sandstone, a material that reflects sunlight beautifully. As the day comes to a close and the sun dips lower, the sandstone captures the changing colors of the sky. The fading sunlight enhances the natural hues of the stone, turning it from pale yellow to deep gold, creating a warm, vibrant display that is unique to Jaisalmer.
The beauty of the city’s architecture is further amplified during this time. The famous Jaisalmer Fort, for instance, glows in radiant shades of orange and gold at sunset, appearing almost like a fortress made of precious metal. This sight is not only picturesque but also adds to the city’s nickname as the “Golden City.” For those interested in experiencing this magical effect, arranging a sunset tour through a luxury travel agency in Jaisalmer can provide a curated experience that highlights the city’s golden charm.
Sunset Views from the Sand Dunes
The sand dunes surrounding Jaisalmer offer another breathtaking view of the sunset. As the sun slowly descends, the desert becomes a canvas for various shades of red, orange, and gold. The Thar Desert’s expansive landscape reflects these colors beautifully, creating a serene and mystical ambiance. Watching the sunset over the dunes is a peaceful experience that allows visitors to feel connected to the natural beauty of the region.
Many travelers choose to visit the Sam Sand Dunes, located close to Jaisalmer, for this experience. These dunes provide a perfect setting to witness the sun casting its last light over the golden sands. Camel rides at sunset are a popular activity, offering visitors a chance to view the desert from a unique perspective. Those interested in adding a luxurious touch to this experience can seek assistance from the best travel agency in Jaisalmer, which often provides tailored desert tours, including sunset excursions and camel safaris.
How the Golden Hour Shapes Jaisalmer’s Atmosphere
The time right before sunset, often called the "golden hour," is particularly special in Jaisalmer. During this hour, the light is soft, warm, and diffused, which enhances the natural beauty of the city. Photographers and artists are drawn to this light, as it highlights the details of Jaisalmer’s architecture and natural landscape. The golden hour in Jaisalmer adds a touch of romance and nostalgia, making the entire city appear as though it’s bathed in gold.
The intricate carvings on the ancient havelis and temples come to life in the soft light of the evening. The warm glow enhances every detail, making the historic city feel both timeless and alive. For travelers who want to capture this enchanting light in their photos or simply experience the beauty of the golden hour, a well-planned tour with a luxury travel agency in Jaisalmer can make the visit truly memorable.
Experiencing Jaisalmer’s Sunset through Cultural Events
Jaisalmer’s culture is deeply intertwined with its natural landscape, and many cultural events are held at sunset to celebrate the city’s beauty. Events like folk dance performances and traditional music shows are often organized around this time, allowing travelers to immerse themselves in the local culture while enjoying the beauty of the setting sun. The golden backdrop of the desert adds a magical atmosphere to these performances, creating an unforgettable experience.
Many tour organizers offer cultural programs at scenic spots around Jaisalmer, where travelers can enjoy local music and dance as the sun sets. The best travel agency in Jaisalmer may provide exclusive packages that include these events, making it easy for visitors to experience both the natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of the Golden City.
The Lasting Impression of a Jaisalmer Sunset
Watching the sunset in Jaisalmer is an experience that leaves a lasting impression. The way the city and desert light up in shades of gold is unlike anything else. It’s a moment that captures the essence of Jaisalmer and showcases the beauty of Rajasthan. This golden glow, combined with the architectural and natural wonders of the city, creates a captivating scene that visitors remember long after they leave.
For travelers looking to make the most of their Jaisalmer visit, planning a sunset excursion can be a highlight of the trip. A luxury travel agency in Jaisalmer can arrange exclusive sunset tours, allowing visitors to enjoy the golden beauty of the city in comfort and style. Whether you’re watching from the fort, the sand dunes, or the historic city streets, the golden sunset of Jaisalmer is a magical experience that truly brings the Golden City to life.

AdU Comms Students Celebrate their Annual Event “COMM-NIVAL"
The Adamson Communication Students joyously marked the day of festivity, filled with bright cheer and union, as they warmly celebrated their annual event “COMM-NIVAL”
Communication students gathered for the annual event known as “COMM-NIVAL” held on February 20, 2024, organized by The Creative Communications Society (CREA), a respected student organization dedicated to the Communication Program at Adamson University. The event was held in celebration of CommDay, a special time for communication students to unwind and have fun. Despite a two-hour delay on the first part of the event at the Saint Vincent Hall, communication students still participated in various games such as Body Spell, Jumbled Words, Riddle, and Straw Planting. The fun is not over as communication students also took part in a “Flag and Yell” competition, where each group from different college year levels showcased their artistic side in constructing their own flags and writing their own cheer to represent their team.
After the games concluded, communication students made their way to the Adamson University Theater to witness every unit of Glee Circle perform. The first performance was by the charismatic G-singers, who effortlessly sang “The Greatest Show” from the hit movie The Greatest Showman and left the audience feeling a sweet rush.
Following them was the G-Dance Team, who captivated the crowd with their flawless dance moves to a catchy rap song by Skusta Clee and Illest Morenato called "Lagabog" showcasing a mix of hip hop and femme dance styles.
Lastly, the main highlight of the event, the debut performances of the drag girl group G-Queens. The crowd was filled with applause and laughter as they were entertained by G-Queens performers, Francis Ong and Miles Lorenzo enacted a lip sync to Lady Gaga's two charting songs "Bad Romance" and “Applause”. Along with a comedic skit inspired by drag scenes at O-Bar, a well-known nightclub for drag performances by Justiniano Ceruma and Neil Carolino.
Following the film showing of "Heaven Is for Real" (2014) directed by Randall Wallace. The film, based on a true story, follows the journey of the 4-year-old son of a small-town pastor who recounts his experiences in heaven after slipping into unconsciousness during emergency surgery.
The film left a lasting impact on the communication students, touching their hearts with its inspirational story. The CommDay came to a close with the announcement of the winners of the COMMrace, recognizing the teamwork and camaraderie of communication students who took part in the activity, just like the first-year communication students who received a sportsmanship award.
The event brought joy to the communication students, providing a much-needed break from the academic challenges of the semester. Participants of the said event demonstrated a sense of fellowship and unity, making the CommDay a memorable and enjoyable experience for all.

Buenas! Ahí van unas sencillas preguntitas xD
35: To you, what is the meaning of life?
76: In your opinion, what makes a great relationship?
92: You can re-live any point of time in your life. The time-span can only be a half-hour, though. What half-hour of your past would you like to experience again?
99: If the whole world were listening to you right now, what would you say?
Weee ya pegadas y todo! Gracias por ahorrarme trabajo jaja
35: To you, what is the meaning of life?
La vida no tiene sentido, así que haz lo que creas que te va a hacer estar feliz y tranquilo.
76: In your opinion, what makes a great relationship?
La confianza para hablar con esa persona y no sentirte juzgado, el sentir que puedes ser tú. Y saber pedir perdón y rectificar cuando a alguien le sienta mal algo.
92: You can re-live any point of time in your life. The time-span can only be a half-hour, though. What half-hour of your past would you like to experience again?
Copio y pego del otro ask jaja
Buah esta sí que no sé, pero algún momento de paz mental o algún momento un poco más picante. Depende de en qué momento decida hacer el viaje.
99: If the whole world were listening to you right now, what would you say?
Odiar a los nazis es una obligación. Cero respect a esa gente.
Zenkiu very mach por las preguntas!

Thank you for answering. I was wondering how neurolinguistic programming differs from the trauma programming you talk about, and from hypnosis. Following this, could NLP be used "badly" (i.e. in a non therapeutic way, to cause more harm), and could hypnosis be used in a traumatising way? Please ask for more clarity in my questions if needed :)
Yes NLP can be used ‘badly’.
NLP is the building of associations with an anchor. Neuro linguistic programming is the evolution of hypnotherapy. Classical hypnosis depends on techniques for putting patients into suggestive trances; NLP is a technique of layering subtle meaning into spoken or written language so the programmer can implant suggestions into a subject’s unconscious mind without them knowing.
The programmer is attentive to the subject they’re working with by studying subtle cues such as eye movement, skin flush, pupil dilation and nervous tics.
Through these observations a programmer will determine: a) What side of the brain a subject is predominantly using; b) What sense (sight, smell, etc.) is most predominant in their brain; c) How their brain stores and utilizes information d) When they’re lying or making information up.
The programmer will gradually and subtly mimic the subject. The programmer will take on the subject’s body language, their speech mannerisms, and will begin speaking with language patterns designed to target the client’s primary sense.
For example, a subject predominantly focused on sight will be spoken to in language using visual metaphors—”Do you see what I’m saying?” “Look at it this way”—while a subject for which hearing is the dominant sense will be spoken to in auditory language—”Hear me out,” “I’m listening to you closely.”
By mirroring body language and linguistic patterns, the programmer is will achieve one very specific response: rapport_._ A programmer essentially fakes the social cues that cause a subject to drop their guard and enter a state of openness and suggestibility.
Once rapport is achieved, the programmer will begin to delicately lead the interaction. Having mirrored the subject, they can now make subtle changes to actually influence the subject’s behaviour combined with subtle language patterns, leading questions other techniques. A programmer at this point can guide a subject wherever they like, as long as the subject isn’t aware of what’s happening and thinks everything is arising organically, or has given consent. This means it can be fairly difficult to use NLP to get subjects to act out-of-character, but it can be used for engineering responses within a subject’s system’s range of behaviour.
From this point the programmer will do two things; elicit and anchor_._ Eliciting happens when a Programmer uses leading and language to engineer an emotional state. Once a state has been elicited, the Programmer can then anchor it with a physical cue—for instance, touching the shoulder.
Anchors
A stimulus is linked and triggers a physiological or emotional state in the subject. The skilled programmer will anchor an emotion with several sensory cues– auditory, visual, and touch. The subject visualizes an emotional state from the past, or is placed in an emotional state by the programmer. When the state is reaching its peak, the anchor is placed in. The anchor needs to be unique, distinctive, and easy to repeat in the exact form that it was done. The law of strength applies to the strength of the trauma and the strength of the anchor. A stronger smell may be easier to associate with a strong trauma, which makes the anchoring stronger.
Much of trauma-based programming is setting anchors into parts. When the anchors are triggered, and the part is pulled up, then the anchors have worked. Two separate states can be fired at once.
These types of post hypnotic commands are the ones commonly used by hypno-programmers to change behaviour (behavioural modification).
Triggering Techniques: Real-Time Subconscious Implant Delivery: the Programmers are transmitting the posthypnotic command script to the subject and observing the subject’s response. This technique is required for subliminal programming. All programming standard posthypnotic command scripts can be delivered in real-time. This form of delivery can cause the perception of a voice heard in the mind of a subject to give them information or orders depending on the purpose of the handler/programmer.
Prescheduled Subconscious Implant Delivery: The internal central switching computer can transmit a script to a specified part/alter at a pre-specified time. The transmitted script’s transmission range can be limited to a single building, a city, or a large geographical area. By having prescheduled scripts, the subject has seemingly randomly occurring thoughts and feelings that can’t be associated with a commonly recurring situation like event-triggered scripts precipitate.
Event-Triggered Implant Delivery : Posthypnotic subconscious implants that are triggered with an event, thought, or code word. These are strongly experienced by the subject and are powerful tools for reinforcing a predetermined desired behaviour and inflicting delusions.
The Handler can reinforce a predetermined desired behaviour by associating a subconscious implant (negative or positive reinforcement) with an event. An example is when the programmer desires to isolate the subject from a specific individual, place or thing; the subject will be implanted with a feeling of increased anxiety, hostility, tension, and discomfort. When the subject leaves the individual, place, or thing, another posthypnotic implant is triggered rewarding the subject’s behaviour with a feeling of relief from the anxiety, hostility, tension, discomfort, and calm is restored in the subject’s mind.
The handler/programmer precisely tailors the type of negative and/or positive reinforcement, the degree of the reinforcement, the duration of the reinforcing effect and the conditions of the trigger. This posthypnotic event-triggered reinforcement can be decreased gradually and can remain so subtle that the subject believes the discomfort is naturally occurring. The subject will believe it is there decision uninfluenced by anyone else that the subject should avoid the individual, place or thing.
Subconscious implants can be combined with other implants like posthypnotic-triggered thoughts to enhance the subject’s decision concerning a specific situation. For example the subject can be implanted with a command to be sensitive to the changes in their emotions when around a therapist. The situation will elicit a strong negative emotion. This can be reinforced with another posthypnotic suggestion to avoid every situation that cause the subject discomfort and each time the subject commits themselves to removing themselves from a situation of this kind, they will feel increasing control over their lives
Steps to Anchoring
The anchor (or anchors) should be fired in exactly the same way every time to link them to the resource experience.
The programmer chooses an anchor (or anchors) that will trigger the resourceful state.
The programmers create a situation the subject will have an emotional response to (hate, fear, love, disgust, embarrassment, etc.). They will find an anchor that is unique to the experience. Individuals have the ability to use any three of the types of anchors independently or all together. It is important to ensure the anchors are used together and at the same time. The programmers ensure it is something that happens associated with that experience and is not common to other experiences.
A memory is induced, imagined or situation where the subject can experience the state.
The programmer then attaches a trigger.
The programmer will activate the anchor or anchors when the experience is vivid and the subject is in the desired state. The most effective time for the association of the anchor is at the peak of the experience. As the intensity of the experience lessens, so does the association. If the state is maintained at the intensity for a longer period of time it is more likely the anchor will be established.
Depending on the intensity of the experience can control how fast the subject makes the associations. If the experience is extremely intense the association may be strong after only one occurrence.
The programmer will break the state by having the subject participate in another activity briefly. The anchor will be tested by repeating the action that placed the anchor. It should be noted if the original response returns.
The steps should be repeated several times, each time making the memory more vivid. Replicating the experience will achieve the anchor permanently. This is not required when the anchor is established at the high point of the experience. It is recommended the anchor be strengthened by establishing it at the high point of several experiences.
Future pace the situation where the desired state is to experienced. Trigger the anchor to check that it creates a sufficiently resourced state.
The programmer will use the trigger to elicit the emotional response.
After twenty-four hours the programmer will check the anchor to ensure permanent.
Tips
If the subject does not experience the state when future pacing and experiences another state stop applying the anchor. The subject will experience the wrong state.
There is a knowingness which makes anchoring work that is established by the unconscious mind.
If the subject is in a situation where they experience the desired state in reality by another trigger, the programmer must re-establish the anchor to that situation.
Programmers can stack anchors together.
Collapsing anchors When states oppose one another and cause too much difficulty in a subject the anchors can be collapsed.
The programmer must identify the preferred response and the state they wish to change.
It is essential, first, to identify the response preferred to replace the unwanted response. The programmer must create an occasion where the subject experienced strongly the preferred state.
The subject is moved into the memory and it is intensified before anchoring it. The programmer then triggers the anchor to make sure that the state is powerful and the anchor is properly set.
Once the programmer is satisfied that anchor is firmly in place, the subject is taken to the state that is to be changed. As the subject re-experiences the response, it is anchored to a blank part. The programmer then triggers the anchor and breaks the state.
The subject is tested to ensure each anchor is properly set, and then triggers both anchors simultaneously. The effect is usually one of mild confusion. At this stage, the programmer holds the anchors until the confusion dissipates.
The programmer gradually lifts the anchor of the unwanted state, and a few seconds later lift the anchor for the resource state.
The programmer will test by trying to trigger the unwanted response. The subject’s dominate response should be more neutral or the resource state should dominate. This is repeated as necessary until the resource state dominates.
Visual Anchors Visual anchors are among the most common. There are positive and negative visual anchors.
Auditory Anchors An auditory anchor is a stimulus that is a sound or sounds neurologically linked to a state of mind.
Kinaesthetic Anchors A kinaesthetic anchor is one that is a movement, touch or physical action that is associated with a particular state.

The Complete Guide to SEO Education: Mastering Digital Visibility in 2024
Tumblr media
Walking through any busy coffee shop, you'll notice most people glued to their phones, searching for everything from lunch spots to business solutions. This constant searching shapes how businesses succeed or fade in today's digital landscape. Behind every successful online presence lies a crucial element: Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
The Reality of Digital Visibility
Remember the last time you searched for something online. Did you scroll through pages of results, or did you find what you needed on the first page? Most likely, you clicked one of the top few results and found your answer. That's not by chance – it's SEO at work.
Local businesses feel this impact daily. Take Sarah's boutique bakery in Portland. After implementing basic SEO strategies, her weekly foot traffic doubled simply because her shop started appearing in "best bakeries near me" searches. That's the tangible power of search optimization.
Understanding Modern SEO
Search Engine Optimization has evolved far beyond stuffing keywords into web pages. Today's SEO combines technical expertise, creative content creation, and strategic thinking. It's about understanding both search engines and human behavior.
The Three Pillars of Modern SEO
1. Technical Foundation
Site architecture that search engines can easily crawl
Lightning-fast loading speeds across all devices
Secure hosting with SSL certificates
Mobile-first design approach
Clean URL structures and navigation paths
2. Content Excellence

Games I recommend
A lsit of games I reccommend, for everyone to check out and enjoy. Please note that these games are in no particular order, as I don’t really have favourite games. I also won’t describe what happens in each and every game, just why i like them and how much I reccommend you play them, because you’ll get a description of the game from the devs in each link. Shoutout to the Egg Gang!
1. Cultist Simulator.
Cultist Simulator’s unusual mechanics make it stand out in my memory, but it’s brilliant worldbuilding and lore make them good memories. It’s a unique experience, that isn’t for everyone, but if you like reading books, and love losing yourself in fantasy, Cultist Simulator is like an interactive Lovecraft novel, where you are the main character seeking forbidden knowledge. I reccommend buying the base game on sale to see if you like it, before buying any DLC.
2. Deep Rock Galactic.
Deep Rock Galactic is a horde-shooter, that’s filled with character and love. The developers are dedicated to providing a fun experience for the players. I like this game because of how friendly the community is, and how much fun the game is. Each mission is unique, enemies are varied, visuals and sound is fantastic, and coop is loads of fun and easy to get into with random strangers who are usually very friendly. The game features a few cosmetic-only DLC that are only there for players to support the devs. No actual content is locked behind a paywall. As a side note though, the Steam and Microsoft Store versions are not crossplay with each other. If you want to play with friends on console, hit up the Microsoft store. Rock and Stone!
3. Disco Elysium.
Disco Elysium is a story focused game. Gameplay is centred on dialogue and exploration. Fun fact about this game, it’s set in a unique universe that was originally made for a table top RPG. As such, it’s fantastically rich in lore and worldbuilding, which is partly why I adore it. The other reason is because the writing and art for the game is fantastic. Abstracts blasts of colours come together to form beautiful images. However, because of the different focus in game design, and it’s divergence from normal RPG games, if you aren’t sure you’ll like this game, don’t buy it full price. Wait for a sale, or take advantage of Steam’s two hour/two week refund policy. But if you were meant to like the game, you’ll love the game. It’s a definite reccommend, but it probably won’t interest high octane and adrenaline-fueled RPG gamers.
4. Magicka & Magicka 2.
The Magicka franchise is a fun parody of fantasy worlds. It’s great cooperative romp through a stereotypical fantasy world with a stereotypical plot. Grab a friend and unleash hell. The game has friendly fire turned on, and counterbalances it with a really easy instant revive. It goes on sale regularly, although the vast amount of DLC is a point against it in my opinion. If you’re looking for some great coop fun in the same vein as Castle Crashers, give Magicka a try.
5. Crea.
Crea is like a different kind of Terraria. A 2D sanbox RPG. Slay monsters, craft weapons and fight bosses. However, Crea place a larger focus on your stereotypical RPG, with levels, experience, skills, and stats. It also has in game lore. It’s different, and the community isn’t large. With online capability, it’s not a bad experience. But it’s not a unique one either. Grab it on sale, or play Terraria instead.
More game reviews to come!

Summary: Some members of the Cursed Vaults Gang discuss relationships and dating in lieu of studying. Charlie provides a surprisingly insightful view on the topic that stuns the others and leads Charlie to his own realization and to take a courageous leap of fate.
Word Count: 2,789
Genre: Deleted Scene? Fluff?
Warnings: Lack of Slytherins =(
Playlist: Your Eyes – Rent, They Were You – The Fantasticks, Black Butterflies and Déjà Vu – The Maine, Symphony – Clean Bandit feat. Zara Larsson, Dakota – The Rocket To The Moon
Note: Takes place during January of Sixth Year, an excerpt from my series of Charlie and Keira figuring out their relationship, done before Charlie confesses his feelings. (I will link that fic once it’s posted).
* Written, honestly, to ease my own insecurities on the pace in which I am writing Charlie and my MC’s relationship. After reading so many great fics by others about their MCs reuniting with Charlie after graduation, I couldn’t help but worry I was progressing things too quickly. I also enjoy a slowburn (who doesn’t?!) and want to make sure I build up their connection and relationship enough that their relationship progression is appropriate and realistic – like, it’s about time! And I started this at their first kiss and have started going back writing moments between them before that to hopefully set the relationship more between them but I still have insecurities about it, like maybe I should have more pining even after the Ball and not have them get together until Seventh Year… Anyway, so that’s really the reason for this piece, to sort of help me feel better about what I’m doing. (Idk if it’s working =p) *
I sat down and wrote this out in a couple hours in one sitting and did a quick edit but please excuse any errors (I was excited to have that motivation to just sit and write something out nonstop!) – there’s going to be a lot of the same words repeated/used and probably shifts in tenses, sorry.

“There you guys are!” Penny set her book bag down on the floor before swinging her leg over the bench to join her friends at their study table in the Great Hall. “I thought when you suggested a study sessions you meant in the library,” she explained as she began taking out her books and notes from her bag and placed them on the table in front of her. “I’ve been searching the entire library for you guys, walking up and down all the rows, looking everywhere you.” She even sounded a little out of breath.
“Well the original plan was the library,” Andre began before looking up from his textbook and giving a pointed look to the pink haired Hufflepuff on the other side of the table, “But someone got us kicked out by Madam Pince.”
“Is it my fault she can’t take a joke,” Tonks asked innocently with a shrug.
“You can only push someone so far,” Charlie lightly lectured his prankster friend since First Year who sat next to him.
“Well at least here we can talk without someone constantly hushing us,” Tonks pointed out. “If I have a question about Potions I would like to be able to ask the Potions Master herself,” she said, motioning to Penny across from her.
“Where’s Keira, Rowan, and Barnaby,” Penny asked as she glanced along the table, possibly in an attempt to change the subject so they wouldn’t keep arguing about getting kicked out of the library.
“Quidditch practice,” Charlie answered, possibly sounding a little bit disappointed.
If there was any hint of disappointment in his voice, Andre picked up on it. “Yes, we didn’t think Charlie would join us after finding that out,” he teased with a smirk.
“We just got back to talking and hanging out again, I just want to get things back to normal,” Charlie tried to explain. After not speaking or being around Keira for about two months and finally getting over that incident didn’t it make sense for him to be eager to get their friendship back to where it was before?
“What does that mean, exactly,” Andre asked curiously, watching his fellow Quidditch aficionado closely.
“What do you mean ‘what does that mean’,” Charlie asked quizzically, staring back at the Ravenclaw across the table from him.
“I mean, what is normal for you guys now?” Andre clearly found this conversation much more interesting than studying.
Charlie shrugged. “You know, like we were before. Where we could all study together, go to Hogsmeade, and hang out without any awkwardness or having to strategically dodge each other, I can help again with the Cursed Vaults – you know, back to being friends again.”
“Friends, huh,” Andre repeated with a slightly devious grin.
“Andre,” Penny said in a small warning tone.
“What? They’ve been dancing around this for long enough, don’t you think? Speaking of dance,” Andre started before quickly turning his attention back to the Gryffindor, “Didn’t you guys kiss at the ball last year?”
“Andre!” Penny couldn’t believe he brought that up so candidly but guess that was Andre. “That’s a personal, private matter between them.” The Hufflepuff was doing her best to help Charlie out who seemed completely in shock by Andre bringing that memory up – he didn’t even know they all knew that! And he doubted Keira told them so how did they know? Were they spying on them?
“I’m just trying to help them figure out their feelings for each other and their relationship,” Andre defended. “Aren’t you tired of them always making eyes at each other? They clearly fancy each other, just snog already and get it over with.”
“What makes you think they’ll stop making eyes at each other if they start dating,” Penny retaliated with a smirk.
“Plus it could make studying together really awkward if they’re snogging,” Tonks chimed in.
Charlie could feel his whole face heating up as they continued.
“Maybe he doesn’t want to snog her anyway, maybe he’s just admiring her beauty, like a piece of art. You don’t want to snog a painting,” Penny pointed out.
“No, he definitely wants to,” Andre stated. “Why would they kiss at all if they didn’t want to?”
“To determine if they want to do it more or not,” Penny reasoned.
They were talking about him like he wasn’t even there. Maybe he could sneak away….
“Well, do you want to do it again,” Andre suddenly asked him bluntly.
“Andre,” Penny cried again before smacking him in the arm with some of her notes.
“What? If you want to know the answer to something, ask. And he’s right here,” Andre told her, motioning to the tomato red Gryffindor across from him.
“Their relationship is between them,” Penny scolded.
“Penny, we’re friends. We’re going to be in each other’s business and relationships. Who are you going to turn to when the person you’re dating upsets you? Or if you need help getting them a gift for their birthday or planning something for you anniversary? You’re going to talk to your friends about your relationship,” Andre informed her. “And we’re here to help,” he added, turning his attention again to Charlie.
“Well then maybe we should be discussing someone else’s relationship then,” Penny reasoned, throwing a glance at the poor Gryffindor boy who looked completely humiliated and was hoping if he wished hard enough he would magically teleport himself anywhere else but there – too bad they hadn’t learn to apparate yet.
“Like yours? What happened between you and your date to the ball last year,” Andre asked, Charlie breathing out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding in, relieved the attention was off of him, if even for a moment.
“We had a lovely time, thank you,” Penny informed him as she straightened out her notes.
“And… that’s it? Nothing grew from it,” Andre prodded.
“If you’re asking me if I’m dating anyone the answer is no, I’m not. Not everyone dates around a lot like you,” the Hufflepuff added with a smirk. “When was your first date? Third Year?”
Penny’s teasing didn’t seem to faze Andre in the least. “It’s true, not everyone can be as alluring as me.”
Penny rolled her eyes but smiled slightly as Andre complimented and flattered himself. She flipped open one of her textbooks, assuming they could get to studying for their O.W.L.s now.
“Do you think dating a lot of people is a bad thing,” Andre suddenly asked her, causing Penny to pause a moment and think.
“No, I don’t think it’s a bad thing, But you might need to ask yourself why you date so many people and go through these relationships so quickly. Like, do you even like these people? Maybe you have commitment issues –“
“Maybe I’m just enjoying being young and having fun and taking in all my options. I mean, I don’t want to be one of those people who only dates one person and marries their high school sweetheart or something,” Andre explained, making a somewhat disgusted face.
“What’s wrong with that? I think it’s sweet,” Penny said with a slight sparkle in her eye.
Andre couldn’t help but scoff slightly. “I think we’re too young to be settling down with one person for the rest of our lives.”
“I don’t think you agree to go out with someone planning on being with them the rest of your lives. But if that happens, that’s great,” Penny said with a shrug. “Don’t know if they’re someone you want to be with until you get to know them better and you do that by going out with them. Not by hooking up with them like some people do,” she explained, giving Andre another look who just smirked devilishly.
“Wouldn’t you feel cheated though? Like you missed out on life experiences, dating other people, if you only dated one person,” Andre asked.
“Yes, what a tragedy to miss out on bad dates with jerks or getting cheated on and your heart broken,” Tonks muttered as she stared down at the textbook in front of her but it was hard to concentrate on studying with those two going at it. Penny held out her hand towards her fellow Hufflepuff as she looked pointedly at Andre – see!?  Good point, Tonks!
“But aren’t those also life experiences a lot of people go through that you learn from and can relate to others through? If your friends are all talking about their dating past and lives and you can’t relate, can’t that create a distance between you? If a friend comes to you crying over their most recent break-up or horrible date and you try to comfort them, they’re just going be like ‘you don’t understand how I feel or what I’m going through.’ And then why would they come to you again. See? Distance.”
Penny frowned as Andre made his next argument. “I understand what you’re saying about it being difficult to relate to others but I think if you’re really friends something like that wouldn’t ruin a friendship. I mean, there’s other types of heartbreak and bad experiences one could have and sometimes all a friend needs to do is listen and validate –“
“And give ice cream,” Tonks chimed in.
“I just think you’d be missing out on experiences you’re supposed to be having while we’re young. Also, imagine only kissing or having sex with one person your whole life!” That thought horrified the Ravenclaw!
“Guess we know what Andre’s Boggart is,” Tonks teased. Her joked earned a small chuckle from the table, even Andre had to agree that was funny – and accurate!
“I just don’t think you can find ‘the one’ unless you date around a bit. Just because you two have some things in common and get along pretty well and you might find them cute doesn’t make them ‘the one.’ How do you know someone is ‘the one’ you really want to be with, are supposed to be with, if you don’t test the water and see what else is out there to confirm,” Andre asked.
“What if they are the one?”
The table went silent as they all looked over at the last person who they thought would say anything. He said it so softly they almost missed it. Honestly, they all expected him to sneak off when the focus shifted away from him. Why he would speak up during this topic and risk bringing the focus back to him and his ‘relationship’ with Keira was a mystery to them. Clearly he wasn’t really listening to them anymore, however, and was lost in his own thoughts, thinking out loud, possibly unintentionally.
He had to admit, part of him found this whole topic of discussion interesting, which was probably why he stayed instead of making his escape. As someone who never had any interest in dating or snogging, as Andre brought up, or anything of the sort, there was part of him that was intrigued how others viewed and felt about romantic and sexual relationships. And now that he had met someone who had sparked these new feelings within him that he never felt before, never thought he would ever feel, and still didn’t feel for anyone else, his curiosity on the subject had grown.
“If you meet someone who makes you feel like you’ve never felt before, like no one else had ever made you feel, aren’t they the one? And if they are, wouldn’t you want to spend as much time with them as possible? Making as many memories together as you can? Having as many experiences together as you can? And wouldn’t those experiences only be made better when you’re experiencing them together with someone you care about? Wouldn’t you want your firsts and only to be with them because you already know with anyone else it won’t feel the same? Greatly pale in comparison, probably won’t feel anything at all… And why, if you have these feelings for them, try to push them away and deny them to waste time with playing games and dating around to make sure or be like everyone else when your unique feelings solely for them should be enough? Sure, for most people they have to date around to find someone they feel this way about, but we’re not like most people. And if you’re fortunate enough to avoid all that shouldn’t you act on that because you’re privileged to find what everyone else is searching for without going through all the obstacles and hurdles and pain? Even if you were never searching for it, never wanted it before, but found someone who made you want it, doesn’t that make it even more rare and special and, therefore, more meaningful and significant – doesn’t that mean you should do whatever in your power to keep them in your life because their presence in it has made it better, happier?”
The trio of friends sat in a stunned silence as the Gryffindor appeared to be working out his feelings before their eyes – was he even aware he was saying this all out loud in front of them? Were others in the Great Hall listening in as well? It was definitely a sight to behold. No one would have ever expected the Seeker to suddenly spill out such an emotional string of consciousness, especially out loud to an audience.
“And, yes, there is the possibility they don’t feel the same way. But should that fear of a possibility without solid evidence dictate your life with this person and control you? Should you allow that fear to keep you from potential happiness and creating those memories and having those experiences together? If they don’t feel the same way, sure, it’ll hurt, but at least you won’t have that uncertainty haunting you and that fear controlling you anymore. And after some time couldn’t you heal and get back to at least being friends so you can still have them in your life? I’ve seen people date and break up and remain friends so why should this be any different? It’s not really fair to allow your own fear of what they might be feeling, how they might react, deny them with the opportunity to decide for themselves what they want. You can’t let your own fear decide for them. Soon we’ll be graduating and going on with our lives, and who knows how these Cursed Vaults and this R person, organization, whatever, will end – do you really want to waste this short time we may have together denying your feelings or allowing your fear of rejection to rob you of possibly some of the greatest memories and experiences you can have? What if something, Merlin forbid, does happen with the last Vault or with R? What if we graduate and get jobs on opposite ends of the globe? Won’t you regret never admitting your feelings for them? Never giving yourself, or them, the chance at sharing those incredible memories and experiences together? Don’t they deserve to know, even if they don’t feel the same way? Don’t they deserve to know how cared for they are? Don’t they deserve to know? Don’t they?”
The trio glanced between themselves awkwardly. Was he… was he asking them? Were they supposed to answer or was this a rhetorical question? Unsure, Tonks nervously started to raise her hand but quickly dropped it when he started up again, his speech growing more passionate the longer it went on. Who knew Charlie was so insightful on matters besides dragons?
“Don’t you both deserve a chance at happiness? Don’t you both deserve to see what these new feelings are for each other with each other? If I’ve never felt this way about anyone else before, I doubt I’ll ever feel this way about anyone else in the future, but I feel this way about them because… maybe they are the one. Maybe we’re meant to be. And if they are, if we are, why are we wasting all this time?” Charlie let out a small chuckle at his epiphany before grabbing his bag and quickly heading out of the Great Hall, leaving his friends to stare after him, still stunned and completely shocked.
Andre slowly reached over to slide the textbook that was just moments ago in front of Charlie over to himself, marking the page before closing it to return to the Gryffindor later. “Huh. He left his Dragon-Keeper’s Guide book behind,” he stated as he read the cover before looking up at the two Hufflepuffs.
“Whoa… this is serious,” Tonks murmured before the three looked back towards the doors of the Great Hall where the dragon obsessed Weasley just sprinted out of, leaving his dragon text behind.
