Freshly polished and ready for measurements! Crankshafts are treated with a nitrating process, so we don’t grind them in house, but we do polish and inspect them during every overhaul. Like lapping cases by hand, lightly removing surface defects and corrosion by polishing helps extend the life of the crankshaft. Grinding them to max service limits is only required in very few instances.
