Not really an ask, just don't really post my art online much. However I bring a gift for you because chapters 22 - 26 have been both painful yet validating as a neurodivergent individual with diagnosed c-ptsd. I truly appreciate the representation being shown through the "Disaster Twins."

Also I feel like a song I'm beginning to heavily associate with LFLS Donatello Von Ryan is "Never Love an Anchor" by the Crane Wives. Seems like a good fit for a character who seems to feel so much and with such intensity internally, yet having no way to properly express it.

Again I have too many thoughts and feelings on the different traumas and dynamic of the twins. TOO MANY BECAUSE THE PSYCHOLOGY IS SO FASCINATING FOR THESE TWO VERY HURT BOIS!!! The fact that Draxum insinuated that Donnie wanted to fix Leo as well and how "Green" seems to see the ASL lessons as further proof of that, along with Donnie confessing to Raph that there is something broken within him...ya just know Donnie finding out what "Green" has possibly been thinking is going to hurt SO. MUCH.

BUT IT WILL MAKE THE COMFORT FEEL SO EARNED AND WORTH IT!!! THE JOURNEY SHALL BE WORTH EVERY BIT OF TERRIFIC ANGST!!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AND APOLOGIES FOR THE RAMBLING!

At the end of the day, I hope my story feels like one of those nights where you sob your eyes out into a friend's shoulder and they just hold you and are there for you the whole time. I'm glad you feel seen.

I've always been a bit frustrated by how quickly things resolve after the immediate threat is taken care of, because recovery can often take the rest of people's lives, so why is it only a cliff note in most of our stories? It deserves as much care and consideration as whatever created the trauma in the first place.

Also, while I'm not a fan of the trope where characters have an obnoxious misunderstanding and just don't talk, I really enjoy playing with a softer "these characters care so much about each other and are trying to understand but are scared of being rejected" kind of tension. There's no true blame from any of the brothers; simply a personal guilt of failing the others, with the slight exception of Draxum's tactics making Green a little doubtful of everyone's intentions.

You have awesome art, by the way! It is really effective at getting emotions across. Love the use of the lines to add to the overall effect.

And the Crane Wives is a fantastic band, I think it has that longing for connection vibe really well.

Beyond to the Void: a Dan Rickabus appreciation post

The Crane Wives' Beyond Beyond Beyond has eaten my brain entirely but it has also motivated me to jump down the deep rabbit hole of exploring the band members' solo work. Dan's lead vocals on Red Clay made me seek out more of his work in particular.

In 2017 Dan released Void / Journal, a collaborative record with other Michigan artists (including Emilee Petersmark, Kate Pillsbury, and Ben Zito). On my first few listens it gave me vibes ranging from The Fleet Foxes and Radiohead to The Oh Hellos. Sonically it feels vast and infinite, dreamy and rooted, introspective and intimate. Thematically it explores the cosmos, the unknown, and the natural world.

Void / Journal makes a nice companion record to Beyond Beyond Beyond with the thematic overlap of space, introspection, and change in the face of the unknown. Plus there's a ukulele and several juicy drum beats. I'm sold.

If you're not hooked yet, I'm linking a few songs below that I vibe with. (That said, the entire album is worth a listen in order.)

Stormcloud / Bioluminescence – Funky, funky drum beats. Spacey, layered instrumental outro.

Wendigo – First half feels very Fleet Foxes. Back half feels Radiohead-esque. One interview I read said Dan is a Radiohead nerd and it shows on this album.

Wolfpack / Phantasm – A companion to Stormcloud / Bioluminescence. Wolf howls. Full folk band and chorus vibes of The Oh Hellos especially towards the end.

The bandcamp page for the album has very juicy liner notes and credits for all the artists and instruments involved. Emilee and Kate do some lovely improv vocals on A Roaring Fire.

1. What song makes you feel better?

Well music just calms me down in general, I’ve always just really enjoyed the piano and singing. So you can probably get me to listen to just about anything and I’ll probably be happy.

But let’s see… New Discovery by the Crane Wives and Meteor Shower by Cavetown both have a really nice imagery to them and I appreciate that. Also my roommate writes music and I always love hearing what she’s working on because I know she puts a lot of work into them.

Oh the BotW soundtrack. My absolute adoration for that game might provide a bias but I love it so much.

I had things to say and it got out of hand, this is not my fault. Also I realized partway through this that a surprisingly large percentage of my mutuals are trying to kill me with their fanfics. “Guys, you have to stop, I can only take so many emotions,” they say, as if they don’t choose which fanfics they read.

It also makes up for the fact that your last fanfic inflicted permanent trauma on me. Ooh! I have an example that isn't Amphibia related for once. Epic The Underworld Saga is coming out soon, which yes I am aware you know (because you're the one who cursed me with this interest, and I mean that positively) The music is just so well done and I’m really looking forward to it. The Art of Amphibia is coming out and I need it! Oh also Stardew Valley updated and I’m really looking forward to when the update is available on the switch.

I totally understand being shy to spit out your thoughts, often, if I’m not having trouble just getting the words out in general, I’m too damn scared to say anything. Just recently I worked up the courage to actually speak what I think here. And I am GLAD I can be of service in that way oh my god. I respect u too it’s been. A huge honor, I stalk literally all the tags and it can be like a minefield. Like, It’s okay to like Jack as a character, he’s a compelling villain and I think he’s really well written. But he’s genocidal and a fascist��� that can’t be ignored bl2 literally yells it at you. However an analysis of him is definitely not for this post and definitely not my strongest suit, we’ll see about that on my side.

And I use Spotify! Seeing you mention crane wives made my brain EXPLODE because not only are they a reaaaally Fiona like band, it gives real Sasha vibes, and just tales/borderlands in general. I’m definitely biased because of stuff with me and my friends own stories and headcanons and ocs, but even with a grain of salt if you or anyone wants to check more songs out pleaaase do. High horse just reminds me of Fiona and Sasha a lot, it’s been influenced by stuff me and my best friend come up with so. Again. Biased, but it’s a GOOD song. Arcturus Beaming is new, and it’s not some people’s fav but because it reminded me so much of the tales cast I have a very good opinion of it. folk asatru or other exclusionary heathens/norse pagans/odinists

people who shove their religions down others' throats or if you have come to "convert" me

if you're going to insult my interests/make fun of me for them
