Temari. Hand ball. History says their origins lie in leather balls used to play, that then became gifts of love that mothers made for their kids with kimono leftovers. It's thought they appeared in China and went from there to Japan, where they became the intricate pieces we know today. As for the origin of my Temari making, I don't remember the exact moment I first came across them. I probably read a mention in some text about thread crafts around the world and it caught my attention.
