I gotta say, I’m reaching unparalleled love of the new earnest and honest Fjord? I feel really validated in struggling to like or relate to the character for most of the campaign because...unlike Beau or Caleb (and sometimes Nott), but like Jester (and sometimes Nott), Fjord’s mask is too good. Beau or Caleb have an outer shell designed to protect themselves, but it’s not opaque. Everyone can see it’s there. Fjord and Jester (and sometimes Nott) are pretending to be okay.
Fjord hid everything important to understanding him! Because being understood would have been a failure! Because to be popular and well-liked is to be perpetually misunderstood, is to put on a mask, is to become someone who people will actually want around- no wonder he and Jester clicked so fast. Jester saw that, even if he wouldn’t let her see anything else.
But now we don’t have that. We have a Beau who, unprompted, confides in Nott because she sees Fjord and Jester confiding in each other...Caleb, who wants to talk over fish and chips! About his feelings! With his friends!
Fjord, who talks about failing with Caleb as an act of- affection, love, trust. Faith and trust, in his friends. Jester gets to say- this is how I feel, and it’s not bubbly and happy and pretty and perfect but it’s real, and can I please have this chance to do what I want? And Fjord says yes, of course. Beau doesn’t have to fear being herself anymore, and everyone around her sees her for who she is and respects her. Caleb- Caleb gets to say, no, I don’t want to play chicken with the Cerberus Assembly as some form of exposure therapy because that might literally kill me, actually I get to decide how to face this. Fjord doesn’t have to worry about bullies anymore, and he gets people who like him for him.

The M9, no matter how much heroism they do from now until the end of the campaign, will always arrive without any warning and leave the same way.

I am quietly thinking about TravelerCon now that they're on real land. I wasn't too worried when they were in the Ball, but now I'm chomping at the bit.

I love the m9 just having a peaceful day and going shopping and seeing old friends only to be sneak attacked by a resurrected shadow assassin in their buddy’s shop.

I love that the girls are the most likely to start bar fights, get tattoos, and being generally rowdy.
The boys are most likely to sit out of these situations and talk about life and the mysteries of the universe.

I'm just amazed that the Ball Eater crew not only still like the M9 despite the harrowing moments of piracy, they didn't fuck off with the ship and renamed it. They even hired more people. Imagine.
(Disclaimer before going forward with the post: I have speech impediments and stuttering issues, no way am I making fun of Orly.)
"So you're a-a-applying to be cook for the-mm- Ball Eater, ye?"
"Yes sir, but... where's the captain?"
"Well, mmm, I dunno, but he and the Mighty Nein, they'll be back even-eventu- fuckit, someday."
"...Alright, when do I start?"

Fish and Chips: Has a deep, meaningful conversation on the concept of destiny, both in a spiritual and personal sense, and how the feeling of being meant to be is finally found within the group's friendship. Lots of shit on top of the garden, but a good garden.
Chaos Crew, in the distance: *Screaming and cursing, and bouts of silence peppered in. Beau is naked(?) and passed out, Nott barely sees anything.*
