i'm home sick this weekend and have no attention span for watching more than bits of this and that but was browsing Peacock, and they have all of Skate America 2019 in Las Vegas on there for some reason, and the first team up is Green/Parsons at their first Grand Prix in their first season together, and Tanith is commentating - Elena Novak, their coach at the time, said Michael was different with Caroline, gentler than he was with his sister, less intense (Caroline was only 16, he was 24)

their RD was to Cry-Baby (for broadway season), and they look like they gelled very quickly. they had some programs that felt too sexy for their age gap and her being so young, but as a skater and performer she looks ready to be at a senior GP

CPom were here too, skating their Kiss Me Kate - skating right after Madi H and Adrian - who could have known they'd be working together now in such a different way. Olivia and Adrian have such a different dynamic than Olivia and Tim - with Tim, Olivia's center stage and the star. Adrian leads much much more, and you're drawn to watch Adrian almost equally with Olivia. they skate closer together, which makes sense after putting in more years

Madi and Zach- i'm so torn watching this lol they're such beautiful, powerful skaters, she's a queen. but "My Heart Belongs to Daddy"? whyyyy it's hard to even listen to. but omg their Finnstep and then the PSt - so so good - i miss them. i know there's no 2025 CPom without them retiring in 2022, but wow

CPom- Terry introduces them as "both teenagers" - this program is fun with more little musical details than i remembered. it's one of Igor's fast feet programs. Christina was a lovely performer, but at this point Anthony looks like the stronger skater in most ways

watching the teams do the pattern is a pleasure - i'll take this over the dance party any day

Very cool that CPom have a strong artistic vision for their own skating, even if they have to waste time every off season twisting Scott and Madi’s arms until they agree to what they want to do! Perfume was inspired and their Carmen is off to a great start.

Makes me wonder if we’ll ever see their Rachmaninov II. Always thought that debacle was the beginning of the end for them with Igor, when they desperately wanted to do Rach II and he said they weren’t mature enough for it but then turned round and immediately gave it to Nyugen/Kolesnik.

CPom, if you ever read this, please opt for the dramatic Mao Asada Sochi cut of the first movement! Rather than the romantic second movement that Chock/Bates and Nyugen/Kolesnik did. I really think drama suits them better than dreamy at this point.

ugh Igor. that would be such a betrayal, to give it to a junior team - he really told them they weren't mature enough?

having a team of CPom's caliber is a huge responsibility for the coaches - they have to make sure the material they choose is going to serve them well in their trajectory. the team may know what they want to express, but they don't make the programs alone, so i think it's ok and even good if the coaches have to wrestle with it. and in this case, they had to convince Scott to revisit and rethink a piece he spent an intense year giving everything to. plus take time to figure out if the VM of it all would hurt CPom. idk, making sure that they all could do this justice - i think it's ok if he and Madi and the rest of the team took time to make sure they could be on board. Perfume turned out to be a great idea, but they first probably had to make sure they were on the same page and flesh out their vision
