more mha dr asks!!!!!!!!!!
do u have any ideas for your hero costume etc.
anyone you're excited to meet??
any sort of idea on what you look like (physical description ig)
YESS MORE ASKS!! love these sm coz i gotta dig through the depths of my mind to answer them.
question when you guys ask me stuff do you like the overly long answers or should i keep it short? coz like the original answers were wayy longer this is literally me tryna keep it short😭 i actually have a problem
Hero costume:
tbh like most things i’m leaving this one for when i shift there but unlike most things it isn’t coz i want my subconscious to decide. Honestly i do not have the sense of style needed to come up with a good hero fit HOWEVER my drself does!!
i definitely want smth either pink or blue. me and uraraka are gonna be twinin🤭!!
i also know that i want smth kinda flowy. i loooove dresses and i mean i feel like smth flowy would just match my water based quirk yk?
i don’t have any inspo but honestly i’m probably not gonna look very hero like😭
anyways might be kinda odd but i looooove magical girl type of outfits sm! and before y’all go “but that’s so impractical for hero work!” not for me it’s isn’t 🙄
i genuinely did script i have a magical girl type of concept tho but still sorta practical to work in😭
Who i’m excited to meet:
i already know ik them in my dr but i cannot wait to meet my dr family! might be kinda cringe but i actually just might like my family??
i scripted in my cr sibling’s because idk🧍♀️. tbh i just can’t imagine being anywhere without them😭
i also can’t wait to meet my cat!! My family adopted a ton of pets because rich people but I specifically ended up with a stray cat i found at the pharmacy.
funnily enough that’s actually smth that happened to me here! except my mumsies said i can’t have the cat so instead the pharmacy took her in but i still get to visit her whenever i go there (she’s so lovely i love her sm!) anyways in my dr i ended up getting to adopt her instead. happy ending yippee.
AND I CANT WAIT TO SEE HER SHES LITERALLY MY BBY☹️ i also scripted (for my own mental health) that pets live wayyy longer now by like 10-20 whole more yrs coz i cannot imagine any of my kids dying before me
if you were wondering the total amount of pets we got a cat, dog, snake, and duck. and like random bird feeder thingies my parents added to the garden. the whole food chain ong
ig i’m also excited to meet up with some old childhood friends? Genuinely asking tho would it be weird to meet up with someone you used to be really close friends with but haven’t seen in a few years😭? Me and my drself are both baffed.
AND OCHAKO ML🫶🫶 i’m gonna meet her at UA probably BUT I HOPE I MEET HER BEFORE THAT TBH😭 but trust we’re gonna be besties
i scripted i’m super good at baking coz she mentioned she likes sweet stuff so i’m gonna spoil her with all sweet stuff i make😈 devious plan
Appearance stuff:
since this is a safe space… i feel i should share that i did in fact change my appearance. I don’t have a specific face claim (i wanna be surprised tbh) but mostly i just changed some of my facial features to their best version. looksmaxxingcore unironically i fear💔
i scripted that my face looks pretty and whatnot (in a very like unique way coz ugh she’s so different and quirky and unique🙄) but i still look and feel familiar to myself.
Also idk if you guys have heard that theory but like apparently after spending enough time with someone you start to look like them? Ik that theory generally means like clothes and aesthetic rather than actual facial features but i did script that even tho me and my siblings are adopted we somehow look similar to each other and our parents.
But the biggest change is probably my hair. in a reality where i can have any hair colour and you think i’m not going pink?
anyways i scripted that i have like pink streaks of hair in my otherwise black hair!! gonna match so well with my hero outfit!
smth like this!!
tbh it doesn’t matter coz i do dye my hair often so i’m probably gonna end up with a ton of different hair colours anyways
aside from that my hair is still its lovely curly self! i love my curls and never wanna get rid of them but i did script if i like straighten my hair that it STAYS straight even if i sweat and whatnot. i haaaaate when you get those curly little wisps peeking through coz of that😭
anyways that’s all for now! i love answering asks sm so this was real fun but i also love hearing about ur mha drs SO TAG ME IF YOU POST ABOUT THOSE
#anon i’m gonna figure out who you are#each second ur not running i’m getting closer#this was really messy i’m so sorry#shiftblr#reality shift#shifting realities#reality shifting#shifting#desired reality#reality shifters#shifters#reality shifter#shifting script#mha shifters#mha shifting

Also favourite program endings
Same with openings I’m gonna do 3 and count ‘ending’ as roughly last 8 counts
(In no particular order)
1. Carmen
This is the second version of the ending, which I much prefer to the first (with the shield lift). I like that with her adding the arm, it appears more violent. It’s also such a shift in power dynamic for them (the whole program is, but it’s particularly poignant in the ending). They had said that they made a twist to the ending in that Carmen doesn’t actually die but it’s Don Jose who is kind of this ruined man- so whether you want to view this as they say, as her killing him (which is how I viewed it for a while), or Carmen- in her own death, gaining symbolic freedom from Don Jose.
I love the physicality of it. I love that she has her hand on his chest and as he falls that becomes her holding him by his throat. Obviously she isn’t holding all his weight just with that arm- he holds her round her hips- but even then she has to be so strong and steady as the base for that pose. His desperation in that pose- just completely ruined. He plays that so well and it always gives me chills thinking about that moment and just surrendering to her and (whatever conclusion you draw from it) the violence of that movement, then having to pull themselves out of straight away for their bows. This is one of those programs where no matter how it went they would immediately hug afterwards and I think that’s because it’s such a character driven piece they hug to pull themselves back to reality as quickly as possible- because as they are, as T&S, they do not want to be violent with each other, so they hug as quickly as possible to get back to that comforting place.
2. Moulin Rouge
There were a few different versions of the MR ending (I think 4 if you include the original one from the documentary) these are my two favourites from competition. The first if from GPF which is one of my fave performances ever. This performance was so emotional and that’s especially evident in the ending. That last look at each other, their foreheads falling together, it’s like she’s saying in her last dying breath ‘I love you. Goodbye’. And then Scott’s reaction is so perfect. It’s so perfectly timed so when she drops his reaction is delayed slightly- it’s not anticipated coz he knows it’s coming. His face when he sees she’s dead just breaks my heart. It feels so real.
The olys version. That final lift is just so perfect. Literally the perfect lift for the music, the story, the moment, everything. It’s one of those moments that stayed with me long after first watching it. TBH I like the story better from the earlier versions with her gradually dying and showing that through the chore. I felt the ‘death’ scene was a bit quick in the final version, but with this lift it makes it- it’s so clear. That’s exactly the image that says what’s happening. Her falling backwards in his arms, (appearing) totally limp, his arms at more or less 90degrees, splade hands, screaming into the sky. Then the timing as he throws her back.. chefs kiss 💋
3. Latch
This is the ending they settled on after SCI. The first is from NHK where the lift finishes low, and the second of from nationals where they added the rise up before the final pose. I don’t really have a favourite between the two. I like the intimacy of the first one but I will say, in general, I liked the musicality better as they moved through the season- maybe that was a factor in changing the lift (or just adding more difficulty). I love this ending pose so much coz they get to cuddle 🥰. It’s reminiscent of Mahler but a much more raw, emotional desperate version of it- that needing to be close. I love it coz from first glance it looks like it’s Scott embracing Tessa- that’s the initiation, but the more I’ve watched it and what I feel from the story, is it’s really Tessa embracing him, telling him it will all be ok and just letting him take her back and her cuddling his head saying she’s here for him. And he embraces her as if she just saved his life. I’ve also just got to add how lovely it is how In the NHK version Scott makes room for Tess to get her knees around to lay her back. He puts her down so, so gently so she doesn’t hit her knees on the ice and just partners her at her waist (kinda like a partner pirouette) to have most aesthetic and comfortable position for her to to get to. not putting timing or his own position ahead of her In importance- making sure she’s in a comfortable spot. I was watching Latch at some point recently and was so moved by it that by the end I just thought, that if they could of (like if it was allowed in the rules) they would’ve just collapsed on the ice together embracing as they do here, just lying, rolling, hugging and crying, playing with each other’s hair with some of their little nose boop/twirling moments. I know that seems like a lot but I can totally imagine them doing it and being totally comfortable doing it. Fuck the ISU for not allowing for than one knee on the ice.

Jon kent dating Batsis!reader (HC)
Requested by a great and amazing Anon: Oooh how about something like Jon x bio batsis secretly dating and everyone is going crazy after Jason finds out coz they've been friends since they were kids and a overprotective big brother Damian?? A/N: Because of the age difference between Jason and Jon (and I decided to make Reader around aged!up Jon’s age - so both are about 16-18 and the rest of the family is aged up accordingly) I made it that Jason and Reader are friends since she was a child, not both of them. Hope that’s okay
You and Jon have known each other for a really long time
Obviously since Damian was his best friend and Jon stayed over at the manor every other week
At first the two of you just coexists in each others orbits, aware of each other and your presences, but not really close or anything
But over the years passing you and him get to know each other better, slowly but surely
And you started getting closer to each other - especially when you both get more active and independent from your respectiv fathers and families
So, as things start to get more serious in the lifes of both of you, you somehow started to spent more and more time
And sooner rather than later you asked him out and a date
and then another
and then one more followed by him kissing you
And before you even really knew what was going on the two of you were a happy couple - even though secretive
It wasn’t that you didn’t want your families to know (well in Jon’s case anyway), it was more that you didn’t have the time to tell them yet
At least that’s what you told yourself
But of course your card-house would crash sooner or later and in this case because of Jason
The two of your were doing your bi-weekly book-club session when you stretched and the shifting of your clothes revelaed a hicky on your shoulder
“What is that?” “What is what?” “T-That... Who did that? Who do I have to kill?”
he starts off calm, but you’re his little sister so he soon makes his way to his guns and Tim so that he’d hack your phone to find out who you were dating
So you just told him
At first he’s startled, then shocked and then amused
Because, sure, he was reacting badly to you dating, but the thought alone of what Damian would do when he found out that his little sister was dating his best friend? That shit was priceless
So he tells you he’ll let you date Jon (not that he had any say in that, but you’d rather have him be fine with it then him threatening Jon) if he’s allowed to be there when you tell Damian
So you decided to just get it over with
Of course Damian isn’t really happy and expect Jon to tell you about all the colourful threats he get’s sent later that day, but he has to grudgedly agree that you were your own person and so was Jon so he couldn’t just force him to leave you alone (much to Jason’s dismay)
After that the news are known by all of the family rather quickly
The reactions are mostly rather harmless, since most of them know Jon, that he wouldn’t hurt you and protect you
They’re all not that happy about you starting to date and Bruce can’t help his dislike to you dating anyone who’s related to Clark (even tho he’s also kinda glad, because he knows what he’s at his Superman’s son)
Jon’s family is actually really happy
Expect loads of invites to dinner at Lois and Clark’s place and an invitation to spend a few week in Kansas on the Kent farm with Martha
Also you and Kara would be a dream team at family games - no one knows why, but you work together so well
But there’s something you don’t actually know about
Damian kidnaps Jon
he can’t help himself, he’s your big-brother, he’d do everything to protect you
So kryptonite and kidnapping it is
he doesn’t let him go until he’s assured that he won’t hurt you
but after then he’s chill

A confusing clusterfuck of thoughts re: Jonsa
Or: why the fuck are Jon and Sansa so compatible if they're not canon, huh?
He saw the Wall shining like blue crystal, and his bastard brother Jon sleeping alone in a cold bed, his skin growing pale and hard as the memory of all warmth fled from him. - Bran III AGOT
So....Jon is going to lose memory of all warmth? I'm going to separate the changes brought about in post-resurrection!Jon here as changes caused by death and changes caused by Ghost. This post is only speculating about the changes caused by death i.e. loss of memory of all warmth.
More foreshadowing for that-
Chunks of coal burned in iron braziers at either end of the long room, but Jon found himself shivering. The chill was always with him here. In a few years he would forget what it felt like to be warm. - Jon III AGOT
"It was. The fort is in a sorry state, admittedly. You will restore it as best you can..." ... You'll sleep on stone, too exhausted to complain or plot, and soon you'll forget what it was like to be warm, but you might remember what it was to be a man. - Jon II ADWD
So, I did a word search for warm and memory and I found some interesting stuff. Read under the cut.
1. Home
Jon- warmth and memory of home
The memory of her laughter warmed him on the long ride north. - Jon II AGOT (thinking about Arya)
The weariness came on him suddenly... So cold, he thought, remembering the warm halls of Winterfell, where the hot waters ran through the walls like blood through a man's body. There was scant warmth to be found in Castle Black... - Jon III AGOT
...Iron Emmett was still urging on his charges in the yard. The song of steel on steel woke a hunger in Jon. It reminded him of warmer, simpler days, when he had been a boy at Winterfell matching blades with Robb under the watchful eye of Ser Rodrik Cassel. Ser Rodrik too had fallen, slain by Theon Turncloak... All my memories are poisoned. - Jon VI ADWD
The warmth took some of the ache from his muscles and made him think of Winterfell's muddy pools, steaming and bubbling in the godswood. Winterfell, he thought. Theon left it burned and broken, but I could restore it.-Jon XII ASOS
So, these are the memories of warmth he'll lose? This warmth, that he associates with Winterfell (and the Starks), is the first memory of warmth Jon has.
Dany- memory of home
The door loomed before her, the red door, so close, so close, the hall was a blur around her, the cold receding behind... and all that lived and breathed fled in terror from the shadow of her wings. She could smell home, she could see it, there, just beyond that door, green fields and great stone houses and arms to keep her warm, there. She threw open the door.
"… the dragon …" - Daenerys IX AGOT
Home? The word made her feel sad. Ser Jorah had his Bear Island, but what was home to her? A few tales, names recited as solemnly as the words of a prayer, the fading memory of a red door … was Vaes Dothrak to be her home forever? - Daenerys VI AGOT
..."What shall we talk of?"
"Home," said Dany. "Naath. Butterflies and brothers. Tell me of the things that make you happy, the things that make you giggle, all your sweetest memories. Remind me that there is still good in the world."
Missandei did her best. She was still talking when Dany finally fell to sleep, to dream queer, half-formed dreams of smoke and fire. - Daenerys VIII ADWD
Dany's idea of 'home' changes over the course of the books. In the beginning she uses home for Illyrio's house, or the house with the red door. She very clearly doesn't think of Westeros as her home. After Viserys's death however, there's a sudden shift. Now, Westeros is her long lost home that she must return to someday. It's jarring. Interestingly enough, she pretty clearly rejects the idea of Dothraki khalasars as home, and the only time she calls Meereen home is in her last chapter of ADWD where she's trying to convince herself to return there. But we know that she ultimately rejects that too, in the same chapter.
Sansa- memory of home
Snow was falling on the Eyrie.
Outside the flakes drifted down as soft and silent as memory. Was this what woke me? Already the snowfall lay thick... The sight took Sansa back to cold nights long ago, in the long summer of her childhood. - Sansa VII ASOS
Last of all came the Royces, Lord Nestor and Bronze Yohn... Though his hair was grey and his face lined, Lord Yohn still looked as though he could break most younger men like twigs in those huge gnarled hands. His seamed and solemn face brought back all of Sansa's memories of his time at Winterfell. - Alayne I AFFC
She missed Septa Mordane, and even more Jeyne Poole, her truest friend... She tried not to think of them too often, yet sometimes the memories came unbidden, and then it was hard to hold back the tears. Once in a while, Sansa even missed her sister. By now Arya was safe back in Winterfell... - Sansa II ACOK
Arya coz why not
"Let me tell you something about wolves, child. When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives. Summer is the time for squabbles. In winter, we must protect one another, keep each other warm, share our strengths.… Sansa is your sister. You may be as different as the sun and the moon, but the same blood flows through both your hearts. You need her, as she needs you …" - Arya II AGOT
Needle was Robb and Bran and Rickon, her mother and her father, even Sansa. Needle was Winterfell's grey walls, and the laughter of its people. Needle was the summer snows, Old Nan's stories, the heart tree with its red leaves and scary face, the warm earthy smell of the glass gardens, the sound of the north wind rattling the shutters of her room. Needle was Jon Snow's smile. He used to mess my hair and call me "little sister," she remembered, and suddenly there were tears in her eyes. - Arya II AFFC
Again, all this (and much more) is stuff that reminds Sansa (and Arya) of home. This is, presumably, shit that Jon is gonna forget. Or maybe he'll retain the memories and only lose the emotions (warmth) associated with it?
2. Suitors or romantic/sexual partners (+Ben Plumm)
Jon
Many a night he lay with Ygritte warm beside him,... - Jon V ASOS
So, Ygritte becomes his second memory of warmth.
When he turned he saw Ygritte.
...cloaked in darkness and in memory. The light of the moon was in her hair, her red hair kissed by fire. When he saw that, Jon's heart leapt into his mouth. "Ygritte," he said.
"Lord Snow." The voice was Melisandre's.
Surprise made him recoil from her. "Lady Melisandre." He took a step backwards. "I mistook you for someone else." At night all robes are grey. - Jon VI ADWD
AT NIGHT ALL ROBES ARE GREY...yea I know, this is a well established connection between the Girl in Grey and Ygritte. Since Jon associates Ygritte with warmth so strongly, I think it's safe to assume that the Girl in Grey might play a role in warming him too (hehe).
… one hears queer talk of dragons."
"Would that we had one here. A dragon might warm things up a bit."
"My lord jests. You will forgive me if I do not laugh. We Braavosi are descended from those who fled Valyria and the wroth of its dragonlords. We do not jape of dragons." - Jon IX ADWD
Yikes.
Dany
"If my queen commands," he (Jorah) said, curt and cold.
Dany was warm enough for both of them. "She does," she said. "She commands...
When he was gone, Dany threw herself down on her pillows beside her dragons. She had not meant to be so sharp with Ser Jorah, but his endless suspicion had finally woken her dragon. - Daenerys IV ASOS
So, here the warmth is because of anger (woken the dragon).
Dany could feel the warmth of his fingers. He was warm in Qarth as well, she recalled, until the day he had no more use for me. She rose to her feet. "Come," she said, and Xaro followed her through the pillars... - Daenerys III ADWD
She remembered Ben's face the last time she had seen it. It was a warm face, a face I trusted... Even the dragons had been fond of old Brown Ben, who liked to boast that he had a drop of dragon blood himself. Three treasons will you know. Once for gold and once for blood and once for love. Was Plumm the third treason, or the second? And what did that make Ser Jorah, her gruff old bear? Would she never have a friend that she could trust?- Daenerys VI ADWD
This is twice that Dany associates warmth with people who use/betray her.
"You're hurt," she gasped.
"This?" Daario touched his temple. "A crossbowman tried to put a quarrel through my eye, but I outrode it. I was hurrying home to my queen, to bask in the warmth of her smile." He shook his sleeve, spattering red droplets. - Daenerys VI ADWD
Dawn always came too soon.
...If only she had the power, she would have made their nights go on forever, but the best that she could do was stay awake to try and savor every last sweet moment before daybreak turned them into no more than fading memories....
Dany wrapped her arms around her captain and pressed herself against his back. She drank in the scent of him, savoring the warmth of his flesh, the feel of his skin against her own. Remember, she told herself. Remember how he felt. - Daenerys VII ADWD
Ok, I forgot how smitten Dany was with Daario. It would be cute if Daario wasn't so horrifying. Girl has some seriously questionable taste.
Interestingly, the phrase 'fading memory' is used four times in the text (as far as I can find) and three of those times are in Daenerys's POV. One is in the above quote, where she's commanding herself to remember her time with Daario before her marriage to Hizdahr, and the other time is while thinking about the red door. Both these are memories that are important to her, that connect her to the hopeful/little/not-dark girl she once was.
Sansa
Gently, he spoke of Braavos, and met a wall of sullen courtesy as icy and unyielding as the Wall he had walked once in the north. - Tyrion VIII ASOS
"I am composing a new song, you should know. A song so sweet and sad it will melt even your frozen heart. 'The Roadside Rose,' I mean to call it. About a baseborn girl so beautiful she bewitched every man who laid eyes upon her." - Sansa VII ASOS
"Alayne." Her aunt's singer stood over her. "Sweet Alayne. I am Marillion. I saw you come in from the rain. The night is chill and wet. Let me warm you." - Sansa VI ASOS
You must be very cold. Let me warm you, Sansa. Take off those gloves, give me your hands." - Sansa VII ASOS
Yea no. Sansa has not had a good experience with people offering to warm her (unfreeze her? melt her?)
Looks like in TWOW there's going to be two people in desperate need of some warming.
It's pretty neat actually. Jon associates memories of warmth with two things primarily: Winterfell/the Starks, and Ygritte. Sansa is both a Stark, and a much (much) improved Ygritte.
Sansa's iciness-wall-armour is a form of protection that she employs against predatory men. The only person who can melt her frozen heart...is someone who is not predatory. Someone who cares for her. Jon.
It fits perfectly. They fit perfectly.

comfort
Peter just wants to lay down with you but there's something that kinda makes him uncomfortable and you try to confront him about it...
Pairing: Peter Parker x fem!reader
Status: dating
Warning: mentions of bra's
Y/n's POV
I was laying on peters bed liking the tiktoks that I thought were funny and saving the ones I wanna do for later when Peter suddenly opens the door mumbling a few incoherent words then I can tell he sensed me since he looked up so quickly, eyes wide open and a small smile, getting bigger by the second, appeared on his lips.
"Babyyyyyy" he quickly took his shoes and jacket off and flopped on the bed his head resting on my stomach while his arms hugged my lower belly.
"Oof" I laughed since he basically jumped on me, he looked up resting his chin on my stomach
"I'm sorry did I hurt you y/n/n?" He whispered voice as soft as butter
"No it didn't hurt, it was just unexpected" I smiled playing with his soft hair "come closer, I wanna hug you" I made grabby hands and he just laughed, resting his head on my chest now, hugging my waist his legs were between mine so I crossed them around his middle and wrapped my arms around his neck kissing his head once in a while
He shifted a couple of times, making me think he's just trying to get comfortable so I ignored it, but he shifted again and silently huffed. He gave in for a few minutes then lifted his head up again to peck my lips and lay next to me.
I got very confused coz usually I'd have to make him move but he's never done this before, it made me kinda sad to be honest. Did I do something wrong? Omg do I smell bad? Does my shirt smell bad?
At first I didn't say anything since he looked unbothered and I was anything but that, I mean if you think about it, would you like your boyfriend to randomly stop cuddling you for no reason and just lay beside you? Is he mad at me?
Our cuddles would last for hours! And this one didn't even last for 10 minutes! I turned around seeing him looking at his phone with his left hand and his other is draped around my waist
"So what do you wanna order, babe?" He looked up his brown eyes hopeful for food
"Oh uh" so he's not mad at me? "W-Whatever you w-want" I silently cursed at myself for being nervous, now he'll get suspicious. And in fact he did.
"Oookay? You okay bubba?" He tilted his head? Caressing my cheek for a moment before setting his gaze on his phone again to order some food
"Yeah yeah I'm fine, it's jus- nothing no I'm fine" He nodded slowly not really convinced but let it go, for now. He laid on his side, his right hand supporting his body, leaned in and kissed me. As a way to make sure that I'm not mad at him or anything. I obviously kissed back not wanting to seem more suspicious than I already was.
He pulled away smiling, his eyes adoring my face. I would be a psycho if I didn't smile from that look.
"Ok well I'll go set up the ingredients so we can make brownies after, sounds good?" I only nodded still smiling. But that didn't convince him so he started kissing my forehead down to my nose to my lips a couple times making me laugh.
"Ok ok! We're gonna make brownies" i verbally agreed this time. He nodded happily and left the room, all the doubt I had were long gone.
The food arrived to our luck and we stuffed our face with the delicious hot meal, Peter also got my favorite drink AND were about to make brownies so to say I was happy was an understatement.
"OOOH GIRL YOU'RE SHINING" I was mixing the brownie batter swaying my hips to the song 'classic' by MKTO, while Peter took my spatula and used it as a microphone running around the kitchen singing his heart out
"LIKE THE FIFTH AVENUE DIAMONDDD" he pointed at me and I laughed "AND THEY DONT MAKE YOU LIKE THEY USED TO, YOURE NEVER GOING OUT OF STYLEEE" he shook his head as if he's confirming the lyrics and we continued on well, I continued on finishing the brownies
but Peter did make an effort, he sprayed the pan and sprinkled the chocolate chips. And he said and I quote he did "the most important parts for making a brownie"
"I WANNA THRILL YOU LIKE MICHEAL" he made the thriller dance moves while sprinkling the chocolate chips "I WANNA KISS YOU LIKE PRINCE" he turned around trapping me between him and the counter behind me, grabbed me by the back of my neck and kissed me until the chorus came in. And i couldn't contain my laughter by the sudden energy my boyfriend got from the food.
"YOURE OVER MY HEAD, IM OUTTA MY MIND. THINKIN' I WAS BORN AT THE WRONG TIME" he suddenly pulled away belting the rest of the song "BABY YOURE SO CLASSIC" we both sung together after he stopped me from putting the pan in the oven claiming its 'too dangerous' and he doesn't want me to get hurt, i mean can you blame him? I'm a totally clutz.
"Ok so why don't we watch something while we're waiting for the brownies?" He suggested putting on the timer.
"Sure" I suddenly jumped on his back (but he still caught me) waiting for him to go to the living room. He laughed at the sudden clinginess (he lovedddd it) and walked out of the kitchen. "TO INFINITY AND BEYONDDDD" he shouted sprinting to the living room. And I squealed from the sudden movement.
"Take the remote, babe" he turned so I can take the remote from the shelf.
"Got it" then flopped us on the couch, causing us to laughed. The jump made me cuddle him as the big spoon while his back rested in my front as the little spoon. At first everything was okay, the first 10 minutes of our favorite show was watched at peace but then the shifting began again. Am I making him uncomfortable?
"Babe, what's wrong? You've been doing this everytime we're cuddling today?" I asked him, so done with the feeling I'm getting.
"Uhhh" but to my luck...
*dinggg*
the oven dinged alerting us that the brownies' finished "oh looks like our brownies are done I-I-I'll go get them!" He rushed to the kitchen and I huffed in annoyance.
The rest of the night went smoothly, but I still had the pang of guilt in my heart. I wanted to know what wrong. so enough is enough, I turned my attention away from series to my boyfriend.
"Pete?" He somehow sensed the hurt in my voice and immediately turned to my side cupping my cheeks
"Baby what wrong?" His eyes scanned my face
"N-Nothing it's just- am I uncomfortable?" I didn't know what to say but hopefully he got the message
"W-what? Why would you say that?" The tv was long gone now he caressed my checks with his thumb trying to soothe the tension
"Well, everytime we've been cuddling you'd shift away, I don't wanna sound clingy or anything but y-you've never done that before" suddenly feeling ashamed and embarrassed by question, I couldn't even look at him in the eye. His eyes widened in shock and his face was full of guilt
"Baby it's nothing I swear, you did nothing wrong. He pulled me in so I could sit on his lap, his hands caressed my jaw slightly admiring my features.
"Then what happened?" My voice croaked not believing him by the second.
"Well it's jus-" his cheeks suddenly became darker, the heat risen to the tip of his ears and on his neck. I was confused to why he suddenly got all flustered.
"Pete it's fine, you can tell me" I rested my forearm on his shoulders slightly touching the small hairs that are on the nape of his neck.
"N-no it's just uh ur b-bra is uncomfortable so I just decided to sleep next to y-you inste-ad" he squeaked out, eyes closing from embarrassment. Wait- what?
"What?" A small smile crept on my face, and my mind suddenly pieced everything together, the material of my shirt is rather thin, he hugged my stomach first then I told him to come closer, he shifted a couple times due to the wiring! Oh my god how could I be so stupid?
"Y-Your b-bra, there's nothing wrong with it and I don't want you to feel uncomfortable or anything it's just, I didn't know they put metal on a piece of clothing?" He tilted his head confused.
"Yeah" I nodded laughing "well there's like a wiring around my chest like under my boobs" I showed him the area from his shirt. And I could tell he got even more flustered when I said 'boobs' coz his posture immediately stiffened again.
"We can talk about it pete it's fine, it's normal to communicate in what make you uncomfortable, in fact it's important!" I assured him
"Well I just thought you'd get more comfortable if you were wearing it and if I say something you'd have to take it off or something" he looked down at his lap, I could not believe this boy, he'd think I'd purposely wear a bra even if I didn't have to?
"Believe me, if I didn't have to wear this 'thing' I wouldn't, it's hurts so much at the end of the day since the wiring basically suffocates you" his eyes shot up immediately when he heard 'hurt' and tilted his head.
"Then why would you wear it if it hurts you?" Now it was my turn to get flustered
"Uhh well I just thought maybe you'd get uncomfortable" I nervously laughed
"No no Baby I want you to be nothing but comfortable around me, you don't have to wear you're bra infront of me or when we're hanging out. I looked at him lovingly, proud of how he handled the situation, respectfully and kindly. I leaned in so our lips could briefly touch and mumbled a
"Thanks Pete"
"You're welcome" he replied "now please kiss me" I laughed at his eagerness but Peter didn't have any of it and smashed our lips together.
"Wanna get ready for bed?" He slowly pulled away but right after the words left his mouth he kissed me again
"Yes" we finally pulled away, for real this time. And went or his bedroom. I was already wearing sweats and the thin t-shirt so I was ready to go. Peter came out of the bathroom now in his flannel sweats and a grey t-shirt flopping on the bed and taking me with him. I squealed trying to stop the fall but obviously failing. I stood up again trying to find my bag causing Peter to whine.
"Baaaaabe where are you going?" He whined
"Taking off my bra so we can cuddle, I missed our cuddles since you couldn't give me any today" I fake pouted, taking the bra off and putting it in my backpack. Peter cheeks turned red again turning his head immediately after looking at my laced black bra.
"You okay there hun?" I smirked at his flustered state
"Y-yeah everything's great" he shook his head and grabbed me again, turning us around so he can lay on my stomach
"Better?" I whispered my hands immediately going to his luscious curls.
"Much" he kissed the exposed part of my stomach and covered both of our bodies with his duvet. "I love you" he closed his eyes sighing in content
"I love you too" I replied although I'm not sure he listened since immediately after he talked I heard little snores from him. Finally closing my eyes feeling nothing, but pure happiness.
Idk what this is but I thought of it yesterday and decided to try and make it come to life 😂 tell me ur thoughts! And if u have any requests my inbox is always open :)
Have a wonderful morning/afternoon/evening/night!

Unexpected Love [Kai Parker] || Part One
masterlist
pairing - kai parker x fem, human!reader
type - fluff, angst
note / request - this request is by @mrs-parker-1972 “The reader is on the other side with the others, and gets trapped there with bonnie and damon, or you can just skip to part when all three of them are in the prison world. So i am not really sure on how the reader meets kai, but you can improvise that part, I trust you. And then well, um, the reader and kai will hate each other and despise each other (damon and bonnie are in the real time world I guess?) And then kai does something human for the reader (you know, coz he doesn't have feelings) and it wakes something in him and the reader and kai grow close to each other, and I really don't know what else, but like can you, make their time in the prison world longer?? (Kai and the reader's) . And please it would be hilarious if you could add some comedic lines if damon, coz you know, damon is damon. And it would be AWESOME if you added the deleted scene of kai Parker where he is really emotional, and he says that after the reader touches a really soft spot about his child hood. And please make the reader human.”
note - so i was planning on just rewatching the 6th season and copying scenes but i discovered it would take so long lol, so i split this into a 4 parts. i also didn’t really copy anything from the show, just the scene at the end. so most of this is just my writing. part two is at the end and word count is 7k+
summary - you and kai fall in love over a period of time after spending time with each other in the prison world
warnings / includes - language, alcohol, crying, fighting,

“Maybe if you didn’t take so long to look for Alaric, we would still be alive!” I exclaimed.
“Hey, you’re the one who insisted that you have a whole conversation with Lexi about the last few years,” Damon spat.
“Yeah, but we were both already with Bonnie. You were miles away!”
“You two stop it!” Bonnie shouted, putting her hands up in-between Damon and I.
“No, Damon needs to know that this is his fault,” I glared.
“Oh, hardly. Why were you even there, again?” Damon asked.
“Because you twisted my neck, jackass. Which thank you, by the way,” you smiled sourly.
“Man, I wish you weren’t wearing that ring. You being dead right now would really-”
“Damon!” Bonnie yelled again. “I’m serious. You two need to stop. You’re giving me a headache.”
“Not my fault,” I mumbled, looking down at the road.
“Liar,” Damon said not-so-quietly.
“Before you two start again, let me remind you that I’m scared and mad, too. We can’t just fight the whole time, though. We need to see if we can get out. You two have been fighting about this for months, so stop,” Bonnie said.
“We’re dead, Bon-Bon. We can’t get out,” Damon said.
I rolled my eyes and started to walk away from them. I couldn’t stand Damon.
“Where are you going?” Damon exclaimed.
“To look for a way out, and to get away from you!” I yelled without looking back.
“See? She’s useless,” Damon muttered behind my back.
I let out a long, distressed sigh. “I’m going back home.”
“Same. I need some food,” Bonnie said, catching up with me.
We walked for miles until we got to Damon’s house. I was sweating and panting by the time we got there. We had no cars so it was a good 5 mile walk.
“Need any water?” Damon asked as we walked inside his house.
“Yes, please,” I breathed out.
I trudged over to the couch, flopping down and taking my sneakers off. Damon came back over with a big class of cold water. I smiled at him gratefully, standing up to take it. Damon had other ideas, though. He lifted the glass up to the top of his head, making it hard for me to grab it.
“Oh, c’mon. You’re such a dick!” I whined, jumping up. My fingertips skimmed the bottom the glass, but I still was just a little too short to grab it.
“Say that magic words,” Damon smirked.
I rolled my eyes. “Thank you, oh great wise one.”
Damon smiled happily, setting the glass down on the table.
“Jerk,” I muttered, taking a long sip of the water.
“You love me!” Damon sang. “Nope,” I shook my head.
“Hey, we need to get more food,” Bonnie stated from the kitchen.
“Then go and get it, Bon-Bon,” Damon muttered.
“I was just about to, Damon,” Bonnie spat.
“Maybe you can go and learn magic again, too,” Damon snickered.
I turned my head to him. glaring. “Wow, you are just full of shit today. Huh, Damon?”
Damon rolled his eyes at my insult. “Yeah, well, I don’t want to be stuck here. I want to see Elena.”
“And you will! Who knows, maybe I’ll get my magic back. While I’m out I’ll go and practice magic,” Bonnie shrugged off Damon’s insult.
“Good idea. I’ll go with you,” I smiled, standing up and slipping back on my shoes.
“With all do respect Bonnie, you haven’t been able to do magic ever since you became the anchor. What makes you think you can do it now?” Damon asked.
“Just have faith, Damon. She can do it. I know it,” I smiled at Bonnie, who smiled gratefully back at me.
“Fine. But are you guys gonna leave me all alone?” Damon whined.
“Yep,” I nodded, walking over to the door.
“Who’s the rude one now?” Damon challenged. I put a finger up to my chin and hummed, pretending that I was thinking hard. I then put on a charming smile.
“Still you. Ready Bonnie?” I turned to the girl next to me who was putting on a jacket.
“Yep. See you later, Damon,” Bonnie smiled and waved.
“See you,” I nodded.
Damon waved goodbye as we shut the door behind us. I walked with Bonnie until we split off. She went to her grandmother’s house, while I went to the little supermarket a few miles out.
Walking there was a pain in the ass. I had my car keys with me, but I couldn’t seem to find my car. Even though this place had everything else; Damon’s house, my house, Bonnie’s grandmother’s house. Even Elena’s house. Just not my car, which pissed me off, but I knew I couldn’t start to get mad again. Getting angry and upset wouldn’t help us get out of here.
I walked up to the supermarket and entered the market, expecting someone to be at the register, but no one was there. I laughed at myself for expecting someone. Every time I’ve gone out, I’ve always expected to see people. But I remind myself that I’m dead. Of course no one would be here. We were all alone. Those cars outside were just there because this was just a very real, very confusing after-life.
I grabbed a shopping cart and started getting the stuff we needed. Eggs, milk, fruit, vegetables, bread. I then got some soda and water bottle cases, some bags of chips and sweets. I went over to the frozen food section and got a few microwavable dinners and some ingredients to make food like chilli and tacos. I went around the store once more, making sure I got everything we needed. I passed one shelf, stopping once I realised that something was missing.
“I thought there were pork rinds here,” I muttered.
Merry-go-round music then started to play. I turned a full 360, trying to see if there was anybody in the store with me. No one was here. I went outside of the store, seeing the little merry-go-round spinning.
“That’s weird,” I mumbled.
I heard the sound of flapping and my head snapped to the sound. I saw someone pass by in a flash. Goosebumps sprung up on my arms and the hairs on the back of my neck raised. I got this uneasy feeling in my stomach as my mind went to disturbing thoughts.
“Hello?” I called out.
I walked further into the parking lot, hearing the noise again. I sighed as I realised it was probably just Damon pulling a prank on me.
“Very funny, Damon! You’ve freaked me out, good job. You can come out now!” I exclaimed, my eyes searching the open area.
The merry-go-round came to a stop and I let out a deep breath to try and calm myself down. Bonnie, Damon, and I were the only ones here. No one was going to hurt me… Right?
The merry-go-round music started up again suddenly. I jumped in surprise and fear, doing another 360.
“Must be on a timer,” I muttered.
“False,” an unfamiliar, matter-of-fact voice spoke behind me.
I froze in my spot, afraid to turn around as I knew that definitely wasn’t Damon.
“Don’t be scared. I won’t hurt you,” the voice said, getting closer to me.
The person appeared in front of me. I stiffened up more as the voice belonged to a man. A very attractive man, might I add. He had a big, teasing smile on his face. His blue eyes danced around my face, studying me as I studied him. He had brown hair that was combed up, wearing jeans, a black t-shirt, a green jacket and carrying a bag of pork rinds.
“Oh, you’re the one who stole the pork rinds. Who are you?” I asked. “I’m Kai,” the man held his free hand out.
My eyes flickered down to his arm and back up to his eyes. I put my hand out gingerly, slipping my hand into his slowly. I kept eye contact as we shook hands. My stomach did flips as we touched.
“Nice to meet you, Kai. I’m Y/n,” I offered him a friendly smile.
“Oh, I know,” Kai shrugged. I furrowed my brows, instinctively pulling my hand away from his.
“How?” I asked.
“I’ve been watching you and your friends for a while,” he admitted.
“Oh,” I said, my eyes wide in shock.
“Yep! It’s so nice to have friends now. Man, I have been really lonely,” he chuckled.
“We aren’t friends. And what do you mean you’ve been lonely. Are you dead, too? Have you been stuck here as long as us, too?” I asked.
Kai frowned, stepping closer to me. “Why all the questions? Don’t you want to get to know me?”
“Um,” I shifted uncomfortably on my feet, stepping back so there was distance between us.
“Am I making you uncomfortable? Sorry about that. It’s been a while since I’ve had face-to-face type human interaction,” he chuckled, looking down to the ground.
“No, it’s fine. Anyways, are you dead, too?” I repeated one of my burning questions.
“No! I am very much alive. Well, I think so. You can kiss me to find out, though,” he flirted.
I felt the tip of my ears grow warm as his suggestion. “No, thanks.”
“Oh! I’m doing it again. God, sorry. You are just so pretty and i get nervous when I’m around girls. Especially ones like you.”
I chuckled, my grip on the shopping cart tightening. “So, you said you have been lonely. For how long, exact?”
“Long time. I’m not sure. It’s 1994, though,” he explained.
My eyes bulged out of my head. “What?! It’s 1994?”
“Yep. There’s literally newspapers everywhere,” he snorted.
“Well, I haven’t really been observant, I guess. What are we doing in 1994?”
“We’re stuck!” He explained. “Oh, damn,” I muttered.
“Yeah, it sucks, but now you guys are here to keep me company!” He grinned.
I smiled politely at him, getting ready to turn around and go back home. “Right. Well, I gotta go. My friends are expecting me for dinner. Maybe you could uh… You could um, come to dinner?”
His eyes widened in surprise. I kept on my smile, shifting the weight in my feet.
“Really?” He asked.
“Yeah, why not! Um, chilli sound good?” I asked. “Perfect. I’ll bring drinks,” he suggested.
“Sounds great. Well, um, see you later?” I proposed, getting ready to turn around.
“Yep,” he smiled. “Great,” I chuckled, looking down shyly. I began to turn around, but Kai stopped me.
“Why don’t I drive you there? It’d be tedious of you to carry the cart all the way home, right?” Kai asked.
I turned back around, “Um… Yeah. Yeah, you’re right. Are you sure, though?”
“Positive.”
My smiled widely, giggling a little. “Well, yeah, I’d really appreciate it.”
“Great. My car’s over here,” He said and pointed to a dark blue Chevy.
“Wow, this is a really cool car,” I said, wheeling the car to it. “Yeah, I know,” he smiled, shoving his hands in his pockets.
I opened up the trunk and loaded the groceries in the car. I then walked over to the passenger seat and got in, buckling and waiting for Kai to get in the driver’s seat. We got to Damon’s place in 10 minutes. I was very thankful I had met him, even though he was a little bit of a weirdo. Kai parked in the entry way and he helped me take in the groceries.
“Hey, Damon! Is Bonnie home yet?” I called out.
“Yeah! I am,” Bonnie came out from the kitchen. Her smile faltered as he saw Kai standing next to me. “Who, uh, who is this?” “Oh!” I giggled. “This is Kai. We met at the supermarket.”
“Oh, really? Hi, Kai,” Damon narrowed his eyes at him.
“Hi, Damon!” Kai said cheerfully. “How the hell do you know my name?” Damon asked.
“Oh, he’s just uh… He’s just been observing us and stuff,” I explained.
“Hm, not creepy at all,” Damon muttered. “Well, it’s nice to meet you, Kai. Are you joining us for dinner?” Bonnie asked.
“Yeah, I hope that’s okay,” Kai said. “Yeah! It’s fine, guys, right?” I asked.
“Sure,” Bonnie nodded.
“Great! I brought drinks, too,” he said, holding a bag filled with bourbon and whiskey.
“Great, but we already have some,” Damon said, gesturing to the liquor cabinets.
“Oh,” Kai frowned. “But it’s fine! We’ll drink your’s,” I said.
“Great,” Kai perked up again. “Let’s get dinner started, yeah?” I suggested, walking over to the kitchen.
Everyone nodded in agreement and helped with dinner. Kai mostly helped. Damon got bored in the middle and went to his room to do God know’s what, while Bonnie went to sit on the couch and watch 90′s classics.
“Thanks for helping with dinner,” I said. “No problem. You are an amazing cook,” Kai complimented.
“You haven’t even tasted the food,” I chuckled.
“Well, you seem to know the recipe and whatnot. And it smells amazing.”
“Well, thank you,” I smiled, turning and looked at him.
My eyes met his and a wave of butterflies washed over me. I looked into his mysterious blue eyes, getting lost in them quickly.
“Is dinner done yet?” Damon asked, interrupting the moment.
I jumped away from Kai in an instant, hanging my head low in embarrassment.
“Yeah,” I muttered, walking away and getting bowls out. I poured the chilli in each bowl, bringing them to the table with a glasses of Kai’s alcohol.
“Dig in.” I sprinkled cheese over my chilli.
“Let me take a sip of this bourbon first,” Damon said, holding the glass up skeptically. He brought the glass up to his lips, taking a slow and small sip. As soon as the bourbon touched his lips, he dropped the glass on the floor and his hand flew to his throat.
“Oh, my God. Damon, are you okay?” I jumped up from my seat, running over to him.
“V-Vervain,” Damon gasped. “Vervain… What?” I gulped, my eyes immediately meeting with Kai’s.
“You!” I pointed. “Oops,” Kai chuckled, getting out of his seat.
“Not so fast,” Bonnie said, grabbing his arm to sit him back down. Kai grabbed her arm, too. Bonnie started screaming and holding his hand in pain.
“What? What are you doing to her!” I exclaimed, going over to them.
“Taking her magic,” Kai shrugged. “What! B-But… How?” I asked.
“She’s a witch, so am I. Well, not exactly. I’m more of what you say… a siphon,” he explained as if I was supposed to know.
“Well, whatever are you, get off of her!” I yelled, taking ahold of his jacket and pulling him away. I stumbled back, still holding onto him.
“I wasn’t done yet!” Kai whined.
“I don’t care! You were hurting her,” I glared at him, shoving him out of the way and going to Bonnie.
“Hey, did he burn you? Let’s get your arm under some water,” I said, grabbing her shoulder gently.
“No, I’m not burned. It just hurt like hell. Ugh! Why did you do that?!” Bonnie exclaimed angrily at Kai.
“Because I needed the power to do this,” Kai said, holding up his hand. He made the bottle of bourbon float up and poured it all over Damon.
“Stop!” I shrieked, running over to shove his arm down, but he sent me flying across the room with his other hand.
“Sorry, princess, but I can’t let you ruin this,” Kai said.
I groaned, holding the back of my head. “Screw you.”
“Oh, I wish you could,” Kai winked at you.
I gagged in disgust and got up slowly, groaning at the paining my back. “Not anymore.” Kai chuckled will finishing pouring the bottle of bourbon on Damon, then lifting him up and throwing him against the wall.
“B-Bonnie. D-Do mag-gic,” Damon whimpered. “Yeah, please do,” I nodded, balancing myself on the island counter.
“Yeah, please do, Bonnie. Please humiliate yourself in front of your friends. It’s so sad that you can’t do magic. I’ve been watching you for weeks now. What’s even the point of you trying? What’re you gonna do, fail at me? It’s embarrassing. I’m embarrassed for you,” Kai taunted her.
Bonnie gave him a death glare and looked around the room, spotting a few candles. She closed her eyes and held up her hand. “Phasmatos Incendia.”
I watched in amazement as the candles lit. Bonnie then turned to Kai, who had a shocked look on his face. She grinned at him, cocking her head to the side.
“I’m embarrassed for you,” she mocked him.
“Dammit,” Kai muttered. “Looks like I have to kill you now. I was planning on for that to be later.” “Oh, no you don’t,” Damon remarked, getting up slowly. He then sped over to Kai and before Kai could react, Bonnie held Kai’s arms back while Damon punched Kai.
“You’re going down, wacko,” Damon muttered, taking Kai’s head in his hands and slamming him down on the floor, knocking Kai out.
“Are you okay, Damon?” I asked immediately. “Yeah, I’m fine. Let’s get him chained up,” Damon said.
“Yeah, okay,” I nodded, going over and lifting Kai up form under his arms.
“Good job, Bon-Bon. About time,” Damon patted Bonnie on the back.
“Thanks,” Bonnie gave him a small smile.
Bonnie helped me chain up Kai to a chair, Damon going on the couch to heal and rest.
“I can’t believe you liked him,” Damon spoke up after a while.
“I didn’t,” I protested. “You sure? You were drooling all over him when he first came into the house. You're type is crazy,” Damon smirked.
I rolled my eyes, wanting to change the subject. “I think the whiskey he brought also has vervain in it.”
“He’s right, Y/n. You have horrible taste in guys,” Bonnie teased.
I scoffed. “Un-called for! Damon’s supposed to be the rude one.”
“It’s not being rude if I’m telling the truth,” Bonnie smirked. “Yeah, well, I guess I liked him. Not anymore, though,” I sighed, sitting down on the couch next to Damon.
“Good. We would definitely have had to take you to therapy,” Damon smirked.
I laughed with him, letting out a long sigh. “I just still can’t believe there is someone here with us.” “Yeah, and he’s a psycho,” Damon spat.
“What're we gonna do with him when he wakes up?” I asked.
“Interrogate him. See what he knows, what he wants, how to get out of here,” Damon answered.
“Well, I know a little bit about what he knows,” I said. “We’re in 1994.”
“Yeah, I know,” Damon muttered. “What, how?” I asked.
“While you were gone we found a newspaper. Apparently, we have been re-living May 10th since we got here,” Bonnie said sourly.
“Oh. Great,” I shook my head. “Anything else you guys found out?”
“Yes, actually. Kai is a murderer,” Bonnie said. She grabbed a newspaper from the coffee table and held it up to my face. She pointed to the left side where there were four headshots of teenagers.
“Family Massacred in Portland. The only one missing was the oldest boy. A 22 year-old named Malachai,” I read aloud. I then looked up to Kai who was still knocked out. “I-Is he Malachai?”
“All signs point to yes,” Damon said. “My God. I liked a murderer? Jesus, what is wrong with me?” I muttered, setting the newspaper down.
“Really? Your type in men is what you’re worried about?” Damon scoffed.
I smiled a little. “No, no! It’s just… Weird to me. Anyways, if he knows the way out, we have to get out without him, okay?”
“Deal,” Bonnie nodded.
“Do you guys want to go to bed?” I asked. “Well, someone has to stay and watch,” Damon gestured to Kai.
“Why don’t you. You’re the immortal,” I nudged his shoulder.
“Fine. I’ll alert you guys when he wakes up,” Damon said.
“Great. Thanks, Damon,” Bonnie smiled. “Mhm. No prob!” Damon exclaimed as Bonnie and I climbed up the stairs.
“He is kinda cute,” Bonnie said once we reached one the guest bedroom.
“Who? Damon?” I asked. “No, Kai,” Bonnie explained.
I raised my brows, my mouth formed in the shape of an ‘O’.
“What?” Bonnie asked. “I cannot believe you just said that about our enemy. You’re never this two-faced,” I smirked.
Bonnie rolled her eyes, “Yeah, well, he’s still a sociopath.”
“True that. Hey, wanna have a sleepover? Maybe have some fun,” I suggested.
“Yes! Oh, I wish that Care and Elena were here,” Bonnie sighed.
“Me, too, Bon. We’ll get to see them soon, though.” I put a hand on her shoulder.
“I hope,” Bonnie smiled. I smiled back and went to the closet, finding a pair of sweats and a tank top. Bonnie and I got ready for bed, staying up for a good hour talking, finally passing out across the bed.
I was the first one to wake up. I rose up slowly and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. Once I opened them fully, I looked around the room with complete confusion. Once I looked at the clock, though, I finally realised that I was in a repeating loop of May 10th, 1994. You’d think waking up for months in this place, I would get used to it, but I really never have. Not yet, at least.
“Disappointing, right?” Bonnie spoke next to me. I turned, chuckling in agreement. “Most definitely.”
“At least we got a full night’s sleep. It’s 10 AM,” Bonnie said. “True,” I nodded, getting up and stretching.
“Let’s go and see the sociopath living downstairs,” I groaned.
“I’ll need coffee before I see him,” Bonnie said, getting up and putting on a robe.
“Oh, me, too,” I chuckled.
We both went downstairs after freshening up, going to the kitchen immediately.
“Um, hello? Did you forget about us?” Damon asked form the living room.
“Yep,” Bonnie smiled at him. Damon rolled his eyes, going over to us.
“Hurry up, sleeping beauties. Malachai is awake,” Damon said, his eyes going wide as he said Kai’s full name.
“Please, it’s Kai,” Kai said. “Hm, nope. I read Malachai in the newspaper,” Damon gave Kai his signature sarcastic smile.
Bonnie and I laughed at Damon defying Kai. I poured myself some coffee and made myself some eggs and toast before going over to Damon.
“Alright, I am ready to get this interrogation on,” I smiled, sitting down on the couch.
“Me, too,” Bonnie said, sitting next to me.
“Wow, you look beautiful when just waking up,” Kai complimented.
“Drop the act, weirdo,” I rolled my eyes.
“I was actually talking to the green-eyed beauty next to you,” Kai grinned.
I couldn’t help but frown. My heart sank to the bottom of my stomach and I looked down at my food, picking up the toast and nibbling on the crust.
“You can still drop the act. We want answers,” Bonnie demanded.
“Ooh, you are so sexy while dominant,” Kai winked. “And you are so gross and desperate,” Bonnie stated.
“If you don’t give us answers, I’ll snap your neck,” Damon threatened.
I looked up and saw Kai pursing his lips.
“It’s so funny,” Kai stated. “What is?” Damon asked.
“Well, you three seem to hate me, yet you haven’t killed me yet,” Kai explained.
“Because we need information from you, and you are withholding for no reason,” Bonnie explained further.
“Fine. But I want Y/n to ask the questions,” Kai said, his blue eyes landing on me.
I glared at him right away. “Why me? You seem pretty infatuated with Bonnie.”
“Jealousy is not a good look on you, princess,” he spoke playfully.
I had to fight the butterflies that were swarming in my stomach. “And being annoying is not a good way for us to not kill you.”
Kai laughed, “Fair. So, what do you guys want to know?”
“Why are we here? Is this my personal hell?” Damon asked quickly.
I furrowed my brows and looked up at him. “Why do you think this is your personal hell?”
“Well, first of all my car is parked in the entry way. Yeah, I noticed that. And second… There was something bad I did during May 10th, 1994,” Damon sighed.
“Damon… What did you do?” Bonnie’s voice wavered. “Yeah, Damon, what did you do?” Kai pressed on.
“You,” Damon pointed to Kai. “Shut it. And… You guys would hate me if I told you. Like, hate me for real.”
“Oh, I bet it’s not too bad,” I smiled comfortingly.
“Nope, it’s bad,” Damon sighed. “Well, then tell us,” Bonnie pushed.
Damon sighed, walking from the back of the couch to the armchair. He slumped down. “I… I killed a pregnant woman.”
The plate that was once in my hand clattered to the ground.
“You what!?” Bonnie exclaimed.
“Not one of my best moments,” Damon sighed.
“W-Why?” I stuttered, racking my brain for any type of logical explanation.
“Cause I was mad at Stefan,” Damon shrugged. “And that justifies the fact that you killed a pregnant woman?” Bonnie shouted.
“Yeah, yeah, I know! I’m a horrible person, okay?” Damon exclaimed, shooting up from his seat.
“You’re worse than I thought. How can Elena love you!” Bonnie scoffed.
I stood up in-between them. “Okay, not the time, guys. We need to ask Kai questions.”
“And before you do that, I need you guys to get a few things for me,” Kai said.
I groaned, “What now?”
“Well, I need to make a list, and I can’t if I’m all tied up.”
I rolled my eyes. “Fine.” I went over to him, untying the rope. I then got a paper and pencil and handed them to him.
“Thank you, honey,” Kai gave me an eye-blinding grin.
“Yeah, whatever,” I muttered, going to the kitchen to get a dustpan to sweep up the broken pieces of the plate.
“Alright!” Kai announced after a few moments. “All done.” “Great. I’ll go out,” I said, going over and taking the paper out of his hand. Kai reached out to stop me, though.
“Nope. I want you to stay,” Kai said. “Why?” I asked.
“Because you’re so cute,” he complimented. “Shut up. I will kill you,” I sneered, jerking my arm out of his grasp.
“I’ll go. I don’t want to be around Damon,” Bonnie snarled, snatching the piece of paper.
“Bon, c’mon,” Damon said helplessly, following her to the door.
They both went out of the house. I could hear Bonnie shouting from the outside.
“Finally alone together,” Kai said.
“Yeah, no. I’m going upstairs,” I said, turning on my heels.
“If you stay I'll tell you everything,” Kai said.
I stopped in my track, turning back to him slowly. “Really?”
He nodded. “I promise.”
“Fine,” I sighed, sitting back down on the couch. Kai got up and walked over. He sat down right next to me.
I huffed and got up, sitting in the armchair.
“Fine, I’ll talk to you this way, I guess. So, what do you want to know?” Kai asked.
“Why did you kill your family?” I asked. “Well, I was born into a coven of witches. The Gemini coven, to be exact. I was the black sheep of my family. The one whose magical ability was sucking the power out of people. My family hated me. My father hated me. He never showed me love or tried to understand me,” he explained.
“And that’s why you killed your whole family? Because you never got love?” I asked.
“Yep. Basically,” he shrugged. “Not a good enough reason,” I shook my head.
“Well, what were you expecting?”
I sighed, “I don’t know.”
“Precisely. Anyways, that’s why this is my personal hell. Not Damon’s.”
“How do we get out of here?” I asked.
“Well, there’s this thing called an ascendent. That will take us home,” he explained.
“Okay, what is it?” I asked.
“A mystical relic that was created by my family. It can harnesses the power of a celestial event and creates a portal, to which we can all then go home.”
“And where is the ascendent?” I asked. “I have no idea,” Kai smiled.
“Ugh! Seriously? How are we going to get out of here now?” “Well, the stuff I asked Bonnie to get will help us. Don’t worry,” he shrugged.
“Okay, well, I’m going to go and get ready for the day,” I said, standing up.
“And you’re going to leave me here alone? What if I kill you in the shower?” Kai asked.
“Well, I need a shower. So, if you do, at least I’ll be released from this world,” I smiled sweetly, walking off.
I heard him chuckle behind me. I sighed quietly and climbed up the stairs. I could not wait to get out of there.
I came back downstairs after 30 minutes. I first looked in the living room, seeing Bonnie and Damon with Kai.
“Took you long enough,” Damon said.
I rolled my eyes, “I assume Kai filled you in?” “Yep. I have to do a spell now to find the ascendent,” Bonnie nodded.
“And we’re gonna do that with Kai having jam on his fingers?” I asked, pointing to Kai was scooping out jam with his hands.
“Well, I’m not gonna do the spell. Bonnie will. I’ll just guide her,” Kai explained.
I hummed in reply and nodded. “Alright, well, let’s get started then.”
Bonnie and Kai went to the dining room table to work. Spreading out a big map and putting some of Kai’s blood on the paper to do a locator spell.
We watched as she tried a few times before she realised the blood wasn’t moving.
“It doesn’t feel right,” she sighed. “Maybe I need bigger map.”
“Maybe you’re just out of practice, and you suck at magic now,” Damon said.
“Ignore him, Bonnie. Pretend he’s a white noise machine,” Kai said. “That’s how I used to tune out my siblings.”
“How many siblings?” I asked casually.
“Seven,” Kai answered. “You know, all of them constantly yammering. But it, uh, taught me how to focus.” He went by Bonnie, looking her in the eye, his gaze traveling down to her lips.
A pang of jealously hit my heart. I looked down at the ground, not wanting to see them kiss, if they did.
“Easy there, big brother,” Damon remarked. “She doesn’t know you. At least buy her a drink.”
Bonnie and Kai chuckled, looking at each other. I groaned quietly, going to the kitchen to get myself a drink.
“Hey! Where are you going, princess?” Kai called.
“Somewhere where you’re not,” I grumbled.
I got out a bottle of scotch, taking a swig from the bottle.
“Woah, easy there, princess,” Damon mocked the nickname Kai had given me.
I glared at him. “Do not call me that.”
“What, I can’t, but Kai can? Sounds like someone still has a crush,” Damon sang.
“I do not!”
“You sure you don’t like him? Cause I think you two would make a great fit. He’s crazy and well, you seem to like crazy.”
I rolled my eyes. “Yeah, like you and Elena are a great fit, right? You being the one who keeps breaking up with her and all.”
I then walked past Damon and back into the living room, earning a glare from him.
“The blood’s moving towards Virginia. Can’t be right,” Kai said.
“Mm-mm. Spell’s working. It’s showing me Mystic Falls. It feels so… close,” Bonnie said, putting her hand on Kai’s jacket, candles lighting up.
“It right here,” Bonnie said, pressing her hand into his chest.
Kai took out the ascendent from his jacket pocket, an expression of shock on his face. “Very good.”
“That’s the ascendent?” I asked. “The one and only,” Kai smiled.
“Thanks for the mind games, jackass,” Damon said.
“It was just another little test. To make sure Bonnie’s magic was precise enough for the spell,” Kai explained. “I do believe we’re ready. Pack your bags, we’re going home.”
Kai then walked out of the house and to the front yard, stopping every few moments.
“You’re wandering around like a crazy man, why?” Damon asked.
“I’m looking for the exact right spot,” Kai answered, holding the ascendent up to the sky. “We need to find where the power of the eclipse is focused.”
“You know, you could have just showed us the ascendant to begin with,” Bonnie said.
“Yeah, but I wanted to feel your hand on my chest,” Kai smirked.
A frown rested upon my lips and I looked down at the ground.
“He is so annoying,” Bonnie muttered.
“You’re just not used to guys hitting on you,” Damon said. “You know, I can’t wait to get out of here,” Bonnie glared.
She then went next to me. I held my head back up, but not looking at her.
“Hey, how you holding up?” She asked. “Oh, fine,” I shrugged. “I’m getting kind of bored, though.”
“Yeah, I feel you… Hey,” Bonnie said, putting her hand on my arm. I turned to her, “Yeah?”
“Kai is a sociopath. He’s just flirting with us to get a rise out of each other. I know you don’t like him anymore, but that attraction you felt to him is probably still there. Let’s not let him tear us apart, okay? We’re stronger than some guy,” she smiled.
I smiled with her, perking up. “Yeah. You’re right. Sorry, just between him calling me pet names and the fact that Damon is always so pissy, it’s hard to be optimistic.”
“Well, I can do magic again now, so there’s one reason!” “Very true. Good job, by the way,” I complimented. “Why, thank you,” Bonnie chuckled.
We followed Kai and Damon, beginning to talk about our plans for when we got home. I looked down at the ground as she talked about her plans with Jeremy. I kicked around a rock, a pair of shoes appearing in front of me. It was Kai. Before my body could stop, I knocked into him.
His hands supported my waist, holding me up. My eyes met his and for a split second, I could see the human in him. I pushed him away though, scoffing in the process.
“A little warning next time?”
Kai just smiled down at me, then looking up to the sky. “The eclipse will happen directly overhead. In perfect alignment with the Gemini constellation. You need to dig under the tunnels below us. We’ll do the spell here,” Kai said
“Wait, why do we have to dig?” Damon asked.
“Have you never portal-jumped through an eclipse before? Okay, look, the light of the eclipse will shine down and activate the ascendant. You spout a little witchy woo and then, poof! Anyone standing in the circle of light holding the ascendant goes home,” Kai explained.
“Let me see the spell,” Bonnie said. “When the time comes,” Kai smiled.
He then walked past us three.
“Where are you going?” I asked. “Into town. I need to gather some important supplies,” Kai explained.
“Y/n, why don’t you watch over him to make sure he isn’t planning to kill us,” Damon said.
“What! No!” I protested. “You really want to be stuck with us? Digging a hole?” Bonnie asked.
“Not really,” I sighed. “Fine, I’ll go. See you guys later.”
“Have fun,” Bonnie smiled. “Oh, you know I will,” I smiled sourly as I followed Kai’s path.
I jogged to catch up with him. “Hey, Kai! Wait up.”
Kai stopped in his tracks, turning in surprise. “Stalking me?”
“Nope. More like babysitting.”
“Hm. Well, I’m older than you, so technically I would be doing the babysitting,” Kai said.
“Yeah, like you have any parental instincts. So, where into town are we going?”
“I thought you hated talking to me,” Kai said. “Just answer the damn question,” I glared.
“I’m picking up some personal belongings,” Kai explained.
“Why?” You asked. “Because 1994 has been my home for most of my life. I don’t want to get homesick when I go into the 21st century,” Kai answered.
“Hm, I see. Well, a lot has changed in the last 18 years,” I said.
“So I can see. They obviously didn’t make girls as pretty as Bonnie back then,” Kai smirked.
My lips pulled down into another frown. Him complimenting Bonnie was like a stake to the heart. I didn’t know why, but it bothered me a little too much to hear him talk about other girls. It was even worse considering that the girl he was talking about was my best friend.
“Hey, don’t be so sad. You’re pretty, too,” Kai nudged my shoulder.
“Wow, thanks,” I rolled your eyes.
“I’m serious! You’re more pretty than Bonnie!” Kai said. “Just want I wanted. You dragging my friend down so I can be complimented,” I hummed.
Kai rolled his eyes. “Women are so difficult. Look, I meant that you’re really pretty. Bonnie is, too. Just accept the fact I think you’re pretty!”
My face warmed up quickly and I hung my head low. “T-Thanks.”
“Let me guess, not a lot of guys compliment you?”
“They do, but doesn’t mean I don’t get flustered.”
“You seem pretty outgoing to me,” Kai said.
“Well, that’s probably because I hate you. I’m shy to guys I like,” I explained, putting my head back up.
“Hm… Or you just think that. You know, girls can be mean when they like a guy.”
“Yeah, in elementary school. Look, I’m not 8 anymore. I know the difference between love and hate and trust me, my feelings for you stand on the hate side.”
“Keep saying that, princess,” Kai remarked. “And stop calling me princess! God, it’s so annoying,” I groaned.
“C’mon, I know you like it, princess,” Kai teased, poking at my arm.
I swatted his hand away. “For someone who is a sociopath, you sure like to flirt a lot.”
“I am not a sociopath,” Kai said. “You sure are,” I chuckled.
“I’m not. I was just treated like the biggest embarrassment and disappointment of my family, and I’ve been stuck here for 18 years. It’s not fun going through what I did,” Kai argued.
I softened up a little. “Right, yeah. So, how long do we have to walk for?”
“Not very long,” Kai said.
We walked in a weirdly comfortable silence for 10 more minutes before arriving at a house.
“This your place I assume?” I asked.
“Yep. Not the place I grew up in, though,” he said, walking up. “Because you were born in Oregon?” I guessed.
“Yep. Wow, you pay attention to what I say. So sweet.” I huffed, “Just hurry up.”
“Yes, ma’am.” I waited for him outside the house, beginning to play with the locket around my neck. I took it off, opening it and smiling nostalgically.
“I miss you guys. I wish you were here,” I said to the pictures, running my fingertips on them.
“Are you talking to yourself?” Kai’s voice sounded out of nowhere.
I jumped, immediately shutting the locket. “No. Are you finished?”
“Yep,” he nodded.
“Good, let’s hurry back.”
“Who were you talking to?” He asked as we started our journey back to Bonnie and Damon.
“Nobody,” I answered. “So you were talking to yourself?” Kai pressed.
“Yeah,” I admitted. “Why?” He asked.
“It’s none of your business,” I said quickly. I hoped he got the hint that this was something that I would never share.
“Oh, please? You know, like, everything about me!”
I groaned, “No, Kai! Stop it.”
His eyebrows raised, his lips curling up into a smile. “Alright, Miss Fussy.”
I went in front of him, walking fast. We finally got back to the big hole that was now in the middle of the forrest.
“Now will you show us the spell?” Bonnie asked, panting.
“Not yet,” Kai said. “Why? We’ve done everything you want. Just get us out of here,” Damon said.
“I just… I can’t. Not yet,” Kai shrugged.
I scoffed, “Now is not the time to be a dick.”
“Wait,” Bonnie said, staring hard at Kai. “He doesn’t know the spell. Which means we don’t need him. Motus.”
Suddenly the pickaxe that Damon had flew up and plunged Kai in the heart, missing my arm by a centimeter.
“Bonnie!” I shrieked.
“What? You never liked him anyways,” Bonnie shrugged. “I have my grimoire right here, I’ll find the spell.” Bonnie pulled out the spell book from her backpack.
“Yeah, and how long is that gonna take?” Damon asked. “Not long if you two let me concentrate,” Bonnie said.
Damon groaned and walked over to me. “She seems way too calm.”
“She’s not one to freak out like you or Caroline. I’m a little mad at her, too, but I know she’s got this,” I shrugged, taking a seat on the dirt.
“Find the spell yet, Bon-Bon?” Damon asked, leaning against a tree.
“It’s been 2 minutes,” I swatted Damon’s leg. “No, but I think the Gemini coven used a Bennett spell to create this place. That's why my grams sent me here,” Bonnie explained.
I smiled at her, “Great thinking!”
Bonnie thanked me with a nod, holding the ascendent up in her hands and muttering an incantation. My jaw dropped as I saw the ascendent move outwards.
“And this is why Kai never killed me. He needed a Bennett,” Bonnie smiled triumphantly.
“See, I told you she knew what she was doing,” I smiled up at Damon.
“Yeah, well, I did, too. I was just giving her a hard time,” Damon shrugged.
Bonnie chuckled. “You guys ready to go home?”
“Hell yeah!” I exclaimed and jumped up.
We all jumped down the hole that Bonnie and Damon dug up, landing in a cave. Bonnie wasted no time dropping her blood onto the ascendant. She muttered the spell, the ascendent winding out further.
“Ready, guys?” Bonnie asked.
I nodded, walking up to her and putting my hand under her’s. Damon put his hand under mine.
“Let’s go home,” I smiled, tears threatening to fall out of my eyes.
As Bonnie was about to say the spell, an arrow struck just right under my heart and sent me flying. Another arrow also hit Bonnie. I hit a pile of rocks, my head turning to whoever hit me. It was Kai.
“Forgetting someone?” He asked. “Did you really think I haven’t tried to kill myself before? Because I have.” He loaded up the crossbow again.
Damon made a move for the ascendent that was now on the floor.
“Grab that or the next arrow will be in their hearts. Your choice.” Kai threatened.
Damon sighed and sped over to Bonnie, pulling the arrow out from her body. She screamed in pain, my eyes widening as I watched Kai take the ascendent.
“Damon!” I exclaimed as Damon as about to feed us his blood.
Damon fed Bonnie his blood quickly and ran up to Kai, knocking the ascendent out of his hand. My eyes fell to the ascendent as it was close enough for me to try and grab. I tried to reach, but Bonnie was a few steps ahead of me. She then bent down to me, ripping the arrow out of my side. I screamed in pain, tears streaming down my face.
“We’re gonna get you out of here, okay? Just put pressure on this,” Bonnie said, grabbing her jacket around my wound.
I shook my head, smiling sadly. “No, I-I won’t make it. You and Damon go. You guys have too much to live for. Me? I have no family there, and we all know Caroline and Elena miss you more.”
“That is so not true,” Bonnie said. “When you were gone at camp for those 3 summers, all Care and Elena could take about was how much they’ve missed you. And I know for a fact that Tyler, Matt, and especially Stefan miss you, too. We are getting you out of here.”
“We are, Y/n. Otherwise Elena would kill me,” Damon groaned from behind me. “I would rather be killed by my hot, vampire girlfriend instead of this psycho. A little help Bonnie?”
Bonnie nodded, muttering a spell that sent Kai flying back. Damon then came over and lifted me up, carrying me over to Bonnie. We stood under the light and I looked up, smiling happily.
“I’m getting out of here,” I sighed.
“Not on my watch!” Kai exclaimed. As soon as we started to float up, Kai ran over to Damon and knocked me out of his arms.
“No!” I screamed.
“Y/n!” Bonnie exclaimed as she shot up in the portal.
I watched with hot, burning tears as Bonnie and Damon disappeared. I sobbed in pain and sadness, looking at Kai with a watery gaze.
“Why?!” I screamed.
“Because like you said, you don’t have any family there. Me neither, so there’s no reason for you to get back to your home,” Kai explained with a shit-eating grin.
“Screw you,” I muttered distantly. I felt my eyes begin to droop. My breathing was so shallow, I could barely feel my heartbeat. I looked up to the light that was shining down. Where my friends once were.
“Sleep well, princess. I’ll see you soon.” Was the last thing I heard before I lost all consciousness.

Fred x Reader - Truth or Dare
Can I request a Fred x reader? They + some buds are playing T or D in common room with actual truth potion, you avoid doing a truth at all cost and have to go through the most mental dares. But George catches on + gets cheeky like ’I dare you to tell us why you havent picked truth’.At first you dont speak coz if you do you’ll confess your feelings for Fred.Coz you cant tell truth if you dont say anything. You can pick how it goes after😊sorry this if this is too long,I haven’t requested a fic before
Fred had his arm slung around your shoulder affectionately as you chatted idly with Lee and George. He sipped at his firewhisky, eyes moving about the room as the party had started to slow. The smart kids were turning in for the night, knowing they still had classes once the sun rose the next morning. The eager kids were already wasted, tripping over themselves and rushing to the nearest toilet as their stomach won out over their heads. The rest of you whoever were swaying comfortably to the music that had been turned down.
The night was coming to an end but Fred wasn’t ready. You were warm and pliant against his side and he was soaking up every second. It wasn’t rare for you to be this close, you had been closer to George once upon a time but the two of you had steadily melded together. George was still your best friend but Fred knew he was different. Fred knew you liked him, it might have something to do with the fact that George got tired of the both of you going to him with your tales of woe. Fred supposed his twin could only handle so much of, “Why doesn’t he/she like me back?” before he snapped. Fred considered himself lucky that his twin was such a miserable secret keeper.
Fred nursed his drinking, nodding subtly at George whose face split into a wicked grin. “Alright everyone who is sober enough to walk,” George teased as he announced to the Gryffindors partying around him, “It’s time to play...” He stalled, pretending to play the drums as he smacked Lee’s back in a rhythm that had people turning his way. “Truth or Dare!”
Fred felt you tense momentarily but then you were pulling away. “And that is where I take my leave,” You declared but George whirled on you as Angelina sat on the floor, Fred following her lead as the other other participants followed suit by making a wide circle.
“Nonsense!” George encouraged, wrapping an arm around your shoulder and guiding you to the circle where he sat you right across from Fred. You looked nervous and Fred would have otherwise been bothered if he wasn’t positive that you were just nervous about telling him how you felt. He was giddy for the night to unfold.
George, however, wanted to draw it out. Fred had been hoping that his brother would coax you to pick truth quite early, leaving the rest of the night for whatever the two of you decided to do. It seemed that neither you or George wanted that to happen as you picked dare once again. After several wicked dares that had you leaving an article of clothing in Filch’s office as well as lobbing a dungbomb into the Slytherin’s commonroom as well as Snape’s potions classroom, you were tired and ready to turn in.
“Dare,” You sighed, shoulders heavy as George thought for a moment. You hated this game, it had nothing to do with the juvenile dares and questions and everything to do with the look George had been giving you all night. He wasn’t going to go easy on you and you were desperate to escape. It was impossible though as Fred cheered you on every time you completed a wacky dare, a smile on his face. You hated to admit it but you craved validation from the boy who sat criss-cross in front of you, his clothes switched with Angelina’s as he teased that he thought he look ravishing in her skirt.
Fred’s eyes traveled to you and a frown tugged at his lips. You didn’t look like you were having fun at all. George was looking quite maniacal, the cogs of his brain turning so quick steam should have been coming out of his ears. Fred didn’t like the look of this.
“Alright, Y/N, I dare you to tell us why you haven’t picked truth all night long,” George quipped. “And no lies,” he added as you opened your mouth and then promptly shut it. This happened a few more times, your mouth opening but then clamping back shut as your eyes darted around the group that had slimmed in the past hour as Lee, Angelina, George, Katie, Fred and you remained.
Even that was overwhelming apparently as your stomach churned and your palms became clammy, heart thudding against your chest. “I’m sorry,” You muttered as you stood quickly, stepping over the mess of discarded cups and a shoe without it’s pair as you vanished to your dorm.
“Nice going!” Fred scolded. “I wanted you to get her to talk, not scare her off!”
George realized he had been a bit too hard on you but he wanted you and his brother to be happy, he regretted upsetting you however. It seemed like all would be well though as his twin got up and chased after you.
“What’s that all about?” Lee asked, puzzled.
“Do you try to be this stupid?” Katie rolled her eyes, silently cheering you and Fred on.
Meanwhile Fred caught you just before you slammed the door to your dorm shut. “Y/N, hey, what’s going on?” He asked as you slumped on your bed, rubbing frustrated tears from your eyes. His heart ached. Fred may have scolded his brother but he had just been doing what Fred had asked him to do.
“’M just tired Freddie,” You gave your poor excuse, kicking your shoes off.
“Are you sure?” Fred pressed. “It didn’t have anything to do with what George asked?”
“Oh come off it!” You burst out. “What does it matter?” Fred shut up and looked downcast. You let out a strained breath. “I’m sorry, I’m just not ready to... admit some personal things,” You said carefully. “Truth or dare makes me really uncomfortable.”
Fred came to sit beside you, hand running up and down your back carefully as you leaned into him, head lulling against his shoulder. “Would it make you feel better if I admitted something?” Fred asked as he shifted, and you followed, now directly across from each other, knees bumping together as you crossed your legs underneath you.
You watched Fred as he grew timid. His fair skin gave him away every time and he was blushing as he picked at a loose thread on your bed cover. “Is something wrong?” You asked, suddenly worried. The redhead reassured you immediately everything was alright with a shake of his head and his hold on your hand.
“I just should have come talk to you first,” He started with and you looked puzzled.
“About?” You coerced.
“You,”
“You should have come talk to me first about...me?” You weren’t following. Fred sighed and began to rock gently in his place, his nerves getting the better of him as you squeezed his hand to help relax him.
“Yeah, but instead I asked George a couple of days ago to try and get everyone together for truth and dare once we won the quidditch game-”
“Cocky,” You giggled but Fred just continued.
“-and he obviously did that, I just didn’t think that he would go so hard on you. Maybe more than that I thought you would pick truth sooner. I didn’t think you wouldn’t get upset either which was my fault, I know you don’t like being put on the spot-” Fred was speaking quickly, his train of thought derailing quickly and with seemingly no survivors.
“Woah, woah,” You interrupted. “Slow down. So let me get this straight, you asked George to start a truth of dare game so I would pick truth and say what exactly?”
“That you like me?” Fred finished for you, his phrase turning into a question as he became sheepish, now suddenly worried you didn’t feel the same and he would have only succeeded in angering you and ruining your friendship.
“Y-you know?” You asked, suddenly pale.
“Yes,” Fred confirmed but noticed the panic in your eyes. You were beginning to apologize when he cupped your cheeks in his hands. “But I wanted you to admit it because I like you too! A lot... It seems I’ve just mucked things up though,” He sighed, dejected.
“Say it again,” You pleaded, needing to fully grasp what he was saying.
“I really like you Y/N,” Fred admitted, more sturdy and confident this time.
You let a smile break out on your face and you held your hands over his to keep them in place. “I have to say, you did muck up things,” Fred’s expression fell. “But nothing so bad a kiss or two wouldn’t fix it,”
“You mean-?” Fred blushed.
“Kiss me,” You giggled, as he nodded excitedly, rushing forward to kiss you. It was eager and sloppy, your nose sore from him missing the mark the first time and bumping it but that faded to the background as he tried again and you two fell into an easy rhythm.
“I like you Fred,” You finally admitted aloud, the fear gone as he looked at you in a way you had never seen, or maybe just never noticed, before.
“Clearly,” He teased but pulled you back to him, not having had gotten enough of your lips on his.
Maybe you didn’t hate truth or dare as much as you thought.

Not Going Anywhere
Request: I reread the "their perfect little family" it's so good and so looongggg! I was going through your fluffy fics as I need one right now very badly! And then I kept wondering if I can request a Jensen fluff one shot? I am a runner and few months ago in a marathon, somehow my last part of sole caught some infection as doc said. I had to go through the whole surgery kinda procedure where the doc literally scooped out the infection. Fun fact, if you have athlete's foot, always get it checked out. And injection in your sole is never nice, never! And I had to do this all without sedatives for reason I didn't hear coz I was busy being scared. Its hurting like hell right now. Coz of covid thing going on, I had to do this alone. Can you write where Reader is in same situation and jensen is with her through whole procedure and then Jensen taking care of her? I cannot walk right now, and sorry for my rant! I am pretty sure it's weirdest request you have received but write only if you want!
Pairing: Jensen Ackles x Fem!Reader
A/N: I know you asked for fluff but my period induced angst got channeled into this and a wee bit of angsty stuff came up. 😂 I hope it’s okay and you still like it! I’m not sure if I got all the details right. So I apologise for the mistakes. And I hope you feel better soon! ❤️
Feedback is appreciated!!

Y/N and Jensen were seated in the waiting room of the hospital. Y/N had her head rested on Jensen’s shoulder nearly falling asleep as he held her hand in his while the other stroked her cheek. He rested his head on top of hers and occasionally placed kisses, comforting her as much as he could. She had developed an infection on the sole of her foot nearly 3 days ago and it was hurting a lot. She took over the counter medicines and hoped for it to go away, but 3 days later, it only got worse and she found it difficult to walk let alone run. Which was a real bummer, since she was a runner and loved every second of it.
Jensen had told her multiple times to get it checked out, but her stubbornness and her hatred for hospitals and doctors were an awful combination. But she finally relented when the pain got so unbearable that even painkillers couldn’t do their job. So here they were waiting to consult a doctor.
“Y/N Ackles?” The nurse called bringing a wheelchair over.
“Honey, wake up. It’s our turn.” Jensen nudged her gently.
She woke up mumbling, “So tired, Jay.”
“I know, baby. It’s the painkillers. You can sleep all you want after we consult.” He got up and then helped her into the wheelchair, making sure she didn’t put any pressure on her foot.
Once in the room, the nurse and Jensen helped her onto the bed. Just as she got comfortable the doctor came in and greeted them.
“Good morning you two!” He said cheerily annoying Y/N more. But she put on a smile and tried her best to be civil. The pain was getting to be too much and all she wanted was to go home to the comfort of her couch and watch a movie, cuddled up with her husband.
“So how are you doing, Y/N?” He asked.
“I’ll do much better if my damn foot didn’t hurt.” She grumbled, making him chuckle. Jensen stepped back, giving the man enough space to check her leg. He held her foot with one hand and poked around with the glove covered one. Y/N whimpered in pain. She was tired, sleepy, in pain and the smug doctor seemed to enjoy poking and prodding her injured foot. How she wanted to clock his face.
“Yup, it’s athlete’s foot alright.” He said. “This one seems to be a little worse for normal medication to have any effect. We’ll have to do a minor procedure.” He said walking behind his desk to sit and make notes on the laptop.
Y/N’s eyes widened and her head snapped to Jensen, who quickly made his way over to her. She grabbed his hand.
“W-what kind of procedure?” She asked, suddenly wide awake.
“Well, we have to scoop out the fungus.”
“What do you mean ‘scoop out’?” Asked Jensen worried. He squeezed your hand, showing you he was right there.
“Exactly that. We’ll be removing the infection. It’s a minor surgery. You’ll be here in the morning and leave by evening. It’s nothing to worry about.” He said kindly.
“Is it going to hurt?” Y/N asked with apprehension.
“I’m not going to lie, it’s going to hurt. But it won’t take very long.”
Y/N was panicking on the inside. She had a high tolerance for pain but the past few days have been absolute agony, and to do this and feel more pain was really freaking her out. Jensen could sense her uneasiness and wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
“Maybe you could sedate her? Put her to sleep?” Jensen asked the doc.
“That’s not possible for this procedure, the patient needs to be awake and aware of what’s happening incase something goes wrong.” He replied sympathetically.
“And what are the chances of things going wrong in this procedure?”
Jensen was even more worried now. Y/N would be doing this without any sedatives and he didn’t like it one bit. But there wasn’t another option it would seem.
“It’s a simple procedure, Mr.Ackles. There’s nothing to worry about. The lack of sedatives is a preventative measure. That’s all. As long as she’s able to feel what we’re doing, things are going well. If we sedate her she won’t be able to tell if we accidentally nicked something.”
Jensen nodded hesitantly.
“You can book an appointment for tomorrow with the nurse’s station outside. I’ll see you, Y/N, bright and early.” He smiled brightly at her.
“No offence but I’m not looking forward to seeing you bright and early.” She said with a small smile.
The doctor laughed throwing his head back, “Yeah I’m sure you’re not.” He then scribbled something in a prescription paper and handed it to her. “These are some painkillers for the night. But don’t take any before the procedure.”
“Thank you.”
The nurse who wheeled her in was back and helped her into the wheelchair once more. Jensen went to pay the fee and get the medicine, as well as book an appointment as the doctor suggested. After everything was done they were back in the car heading home. Y/N was quietly looking out the window throughout the ride worrying about what was to come. She felt Jensen grab her hand and squeeze it. She looked at him and tried to smile, but it wasn’t easy. She was beyond exhausted and couldn’t wait to get home. There was a lump in her throat and tear welled up in her eyes, but she did her best to keep it from falling.
“Sweetheart, talk to me. What’s going on in that head of yours?” He asked softly.
“Please, not now.” She said, voice cracking a little.
“Okay, honey” He said not letting go of her hand. The car ride back home was filled with tensed silence.
_______________
30 minutes later they reached home. Jensen parked the car and got out, quickly making his way to Y/N’s side. He carried her inside the house and took her up the stairs to their bedroom. He placed her on the bed and went to her closet and pulled out comfy sweat pants and one of his t-shirts. He helped her take off her clothes and put the new ones on. Once he changed too he sat facing her on the bed and cupped her cheek with one hand.
Y/N leaned into his touch, closing her eyes. A single tear escaped only to be quickly wiped away by his thumb.
“I don’t know why I’m so sad and so overwhelmed.” She whispered. “It’s so stupid. It’s a minor surgery, it won’t take long. I don’t know why I’m being so emotional.”
“It’s not stupid, baby. You’ve been in a lot of pain these past few days. You can barely walk, and you’ll never admit it, but I know you and I know that you’re upset that you can’t run. It’s getting to you. But you have to remember that it’s not permanent. You’re going to recover fully, it’ll just take a while, that’s all.”
Y/N was crying. Jensen knew her so well. He could read her like a damn book and she was so grateful for him. He never judged. All he did was support her and love her.
“I don’t want to burden you, Jay! You just got back from Vancouver. You’re on a break and this had to happen. I’m so so sorry!”
“Hey, come here.” He shifted so that he was leaning against the headboard with her on her lap. He made sure he didn’t hurt her foot. “It’s not your fault, Y/N. Not your fault at all okay? I hate to see you in so much pain, I wish it didn’t happen either, but not because I think it’s a burden. But because my baby is in pain. I don’t care how I spend time with you as long as I get you. You hear me, honey?”
She nodded against his chest. For some reason she couldn’t stop crying.
“It’s okay. Just let it out. I’m not going anywhere.” He whispered hugging her tightly. Eventually Y/N calmed down and fell asleep only waking up for dinner and painkiller. They went back to sleep soon after.
_______________
The next day they were at the hospital. Y/N was taken to the OR for the procedure. Since it was a minor one and she’d be awake through it, they allowed Jensen to be in with her to keep her calm and distracted. She was so grateful for that. She didn’t think she could’ve done it alone.
She was seated on the bed with Jensen by her head. The doctor came in followed by the nurse who was holding an injection. Y/N was looking at it with fear in her eyes, Jensen noticed her and made her look at him.
“Just focus on me ok? I’m right here.” He smiled at her.
Y/N flinched when the cold cotton swab was pressed to her infected area. It burned like crazy. She squeezed Jensen’s hand tightly, who kept whispering encouraging words. Then the doctor slowly pushed the injection in, making her cry out in pain. Jensen pressed her head into his shoulder. She was clutching his shirt really tightly almost ripping it off.
Jensen through it all tried his best to keep calm. It was killing him to see this happen to his wife. He worried about her when she cut herself while chopping vegetables or fixing something. This was a whole knew level of worry that he didn’t know how to handle. He could feel his shirt getting wet as Y/N cried into him.
“It’s over see? It’ll be a lot easier from now.” Said the doctor.
Y/N didn’t reply. She wanted this torture to end. The entire hour flew by with Y/N gritting her teeth in pain and Jensen doing his best to distract her. He would tell her funny stories which she already knew and he would talk about pranks that he and Jared pulled on Misha. It seemed to work. She was absolutely glad that she had someone like Jensen to be with her through this hellish ordeal. This only made her fall in love with him more.
When everything was finally over, she was placed in a recovery room for the work done by the surgeon to set. Another hour went by, Y/N was getting agitated. She was in a lot of pain and she still wasn’t allowed to take any painkillers. Jensen sat beside her in bed while she rested her back and head against his side. He carded his fingers through her hair, to soothe her into sleep. She kept going in and out of sleep as he watched some telly in mute.
40 minutes later the doctor came in waking her up, “How are you feeling, Y/N?”
“I’d love some drugs.” She mumbled.
“I’m prescribing you some stronger painkillers which you can take as and when you require, along with some other tablets.” He said scribbling down on his pad.
“She’s going to be fine, right?” Asked Jensen.
“Yup, we got all of it out. She’ll make a full recovery in a couple of months.” He smiled.
“Is there anything we need to watch out for? Any special care?”
“Just make sure you keep the wound clean. You need to change the dressing which the nurse will show you how to do. And I’ll see you back here after three weeks.”
“Thanks, doc.” Jensen shook his hand, before the man left.
The nurse changed Y/N’s dressing and Jensen paid close attention to it so he could do it when they got back home. After everything was done and after signing the discharge papers, Y/N was wheeled out to the parking lot to get back. Jensen helped her into the car and they drove home.
_______________
Y/N was getting increasingly frustrated in the past couple of days being completely immobile. Jensen had to do everything for her. From helping her to pee and poop, to giving her a bath. She refused to leave the bed and resorted to moping in her room. She hated being so helpless and depending on Jensen for small things that a child could manage.
Jensen on the other hand was getting worried about her. Her foot was doing fine so far. The painkillers were doing their job for the most part and he made sure she was comfortable. But Y/N was still upset and he didn’t know what to do. He was afraid to bring it up because she was getting a bit snippy too. But he had had enough of it after she had snapped at him when he asked her once again if she was okay and if she needed anything.
“Okay! That’s enough, Y/N!” Snapped Jensen. “I don’t get what your problem is. I’m doing what I can to keep you comfortable and you’ve been nothing but snippy and irritated!”
Y/N looked at him wide eyes. She didn’t expect him to snap back. She knew she was being a bitch but she didn’t know how to stop because she was in pain and no where to go and completely frustrated.
“I get you’re in pain. I really do. I know the situation ain’t ideal, and it’s bugging you to have me carry you around everywhere. But you’re not even trying to wrap your mind around it!” He was pissed and tired. He rubbed his face with his hands. “I need some space. I’ll be in my office.” He said curtly and walked out their room.
Y/N was filled with overwhelming guilt. She was only thinking about herself and didn’t think about the situation Jensen was in. It wasn’t just her who was limited to the house, so was he. Sure he could walk around, but he too must be feeling cooped up staying at home for the past couple of days. Not to mention, helping her deal with her pain and take care of her like a baby and be at her constant beck and call.
She laid there tearing up. She hated it. She felt like all she did was cry and now she was disappointing Jay. She was lost in her guilt ridden thoughts when suddenly she had the urge to pee. She groaned in frustration. She didn’t want to bother Jensen by calling him. Besides he was mad at her and he needed the space. She sat up in bed and grabbed onto the wall above the headboard and pulled herself up. But she lost her balance and accidentally placed her injured foot on the floor, crying out in pain. But she managed to balance herself in one foot and once the throbbing came down she hopped her way slowly to the toilet. She stopped midway almost losing her balance but a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist and picked her up.
“I got you. You should’ve called me, Y/N” Jensen whispered.
“I didn’t want to bother you more than I already do, Jay.” She whispered back.
Jensen didn’t say anything. He helped her to the bathroom and helped her balance on one foot as she pulled her pants down. He gently sat her down on the seat letting her do her job. Once done he helped her to the sink to wash her hands and then picked her up to put her on the bed.
“I’m sorry, Jay” Y/N began after a few seconds of silence. “You’re right. I’ve been so irritable and stuck in my own misery that I forgot you’re stuck with me too. I shouldn’t have taken it out on you.”
“The issue isn’t that I’m stuck with you, baby girl. I love being stuck with you. The issue is you not trying at all. This crap happened to you. But I’m here for you, Y/N. I’m here to keep you company and help you around. I miss my wife. I miss having fun with you.”
“I miss having fun with you too, Jay.” She said sadly. “I’m sorry I’ve been difficult.”
“It’s okay, honey. I’m sorry I left like that. You didn’t hurt yourself right?”
“I kind of stepped on my foot while getting up. But I don’t think anything happened.”
“Okay, let’s take a look. It’s time to change the dressing anyway.” He said getting up to get the supplies. “And then, you missy, are getting out of this room and sitting out on the porch with me, okay? No objections!” He said turning around and pointing at her.
“I like the sound of that.” She grinned.
“Good.”
“Jay?”
“Yes, Y/N?”
“I love you.”
“I love you too, dork.” He grinned and went to get the stuff for her foot.
Y/N supposed she could deal with few days of being immobile as long as she had Jensen. He always knew how to bring her back to herself no matter what.

Summary: The first (and with any luck, only) time it happens, he’s almost 16.
Chapter Summary: Help arrives. Amethyst struggles to cope amidst the chaos.
So this fic is Steven and Amethyst centric, set during the 2 year time skip. It’s also kinda in conversation with An Indirect Kiss, and explores the idea of what could happen to a hybrid with a cracked gem. This chapter has no specific trigger warnings. It will be exactly 4 parts.
AO3 link and a link to the first chapter can be found in the reblogs! Support there or here (via reblogs) is very much appreciated! <3

Chapter 2: The Worry
A frantic phone call and a few minutes later, one of the decommissioned Roaming Eyes that’s been stationed on Earth carefully lowers through the gaps in the forest canopy. Amethyst lets out a sigh as it lands in the clearing with a solid thunk, her fiercely protective grip on Steven’s hand relaxing a little. Stars, she’s never been so relieved to see one of these clunkers in her whole life.
Those passing minutes are what really worry her, though. Transport will be quick now, but there’s still too many awful what-ifs hanging over her like an anvil to her gem. Like, what if they’ve already wasted too much of Steven’s precious time? What if he’s gonna be permanently damaged ‘coz of all this, since he’s a hybrid, so extraordinarily different from the rest of them? Or, what if there’s not enough water left in the fountain to heal him in the first place? Last she saw, its finite supply was pretty lacking. It’s why they’ve transitioned to healing the corrupted Gems at the Temple as of late, utilizing the Diamonds’ bottled essence rather than the scrap leftovers of the fountain water they anointed in person last year.
But Steven never bottled any of his. And now, with the source of his healing magic totally busted, there’s nothing they can do but visit the fountain and hope beyond all hopes there’s some of Rose’s tears still there.
Oh, if only they were closer to a warp. If they were, then Amethyst could’ve hefted him into her arms like she always used to when he was smaller, carried him there, then bam- they could be on location in an instant. No transport ship needed. Unfortunately though, the two of them hiked a good half hour before big ol’ nasty caught wind of their trail. Like it or not, the warp pad is simply too far away. And she’s not about to risk worsening his crack by jostling him as she runs on such a long trip.
So yeah, this particular Roaming Eye may be old, janky tech, but it’ll have to do.
The teen stiffens in her hold again, eyes growing bleary. “A… A-Amethyst?? I think I’m—“
The violent muscle contractions cut off his words as quickly as the slash of a whip. Knowing the drill by now she lightens her hold, allowing him just enough space to seize without hurting himself. She grimaces. It doesn’t even sound like he can catch a full breath as his body jerks and spasms against his control. The helpless, labored wheezing pouring out from him is almost physically painful to listen to, her own form glitching in sympathy for a split instant.
“Shhh,” she whispers, delicately dancing around the innate fear of the situation. “Don’t talk. Save your energy, remember? I-I... we’ve got ya’. Y’see there? They just landed!"
Blessedly, his seizures reach their end by the time the engines of the craft fully shut off. His whimpers slowly lessen, his eyelids fluttering shut in all his exhaustion.
Her fingers comb through his thick dark curls. “We’ll fix ya’ right up, buddy…”
She’s mopping the sweat off his forehead as the door slides ajar, and Pearl dashes out of the ship with Greg practically sticking to her heels. Amethyst braces herself for the inevitable chastising.
“What on Earth were you thinking,” the Pearl in her subconscious squawks, “letting him get hurt like this?!”
But the reprimanding she instinctively expects never comes.
Instead, the ivory Gem sprints to her side alongside the boy’s father, and— dropping to her knees— envelops her in what’s perhaps the tightest hug she’s ever received from her.
“Amethyst!” she cries, lithe fingers gripping at her long lavender hair. “Oh, thank goodness you’re okay! What happened?”
Clasped tight in her embrace, she allows herself a moment to catch her breath as the world ticks onwards around her. It’s but a small kindness. Admittedly, she’s still too shell-shocked about all of this to give a swift response, too distracted by the overwhelming reality of Greg’s anguished expression as he takes in the sight of his son lying prone before him, his paleness stark against the soft blue of his t-shirt.
“Steven!”
It’s hard to watch. Humans get so weirdly sensitive on the topic of injury— but then, she figures that’s because humans are so squishy and fragile, and always fixated on how short their lifespans are and how easily they can be cut short. Even if Steven’s special, even if in the end his crack will be fixed and he’ll likely be fine, (of course he’ll be fine, he has to be fine!), she supposes it’s only natural for Greg to worry. When the man collapses to his knees in front of him, he grabs Steven’s hand and babbles reassurances into his ear, words spoken too light for either Gem to pick up. Steven’s eyelids subtly twitch upon this appeal to his humanity.
Her glance flicks towards the Roaming Eye as Pearl waits for her to say something, anything.
“I…” she begins with marked hesitation. “I’ll explain everything once we’re on the ship. Gotta help Steven first, yeah?”
She nods, pulling away to stand. “Y-yes, of course. You’re right.”
Kneeling beside her, Greg’s voice quivers, ever so slightly. “You’re gonna be fine, buddy,” he whispers to the boy, his hand squeeze only barely reciprocated. “You’re gonna be just fine.”
Pearl interrupts his frantic reassurances with a nudge to his shoulder.
“We need to carry him,” she says, voice strained. It’s clear she’s only barely choking back her panic. “One mustn’t waste any time when it comes to cracked gems, after all!” Without skipping a beat, she leads the human’s quivering hands to the teen’s ankles. “Here, you can lift him by the legs like so, Amethyst, his torso, and then I’ll be at front supporting his neck and shoulders—“
Steven gives a soft whine, breath fast and shallow.
Amethyst swallows, drinking in the nuances of the scene. Steven’s jaw is clenched. Clearly, he’s holding back on expressing how much pain he’s in, bottling it up for their sake. Meanwhile, Greg— anxious single father that he is— is about one second away from breaking down entirely. She‘s almost scared what his reaction will be if Steven experiences another one of his seizing fits in his presence. And Pearl? Much as she loves her, uptight and fraying at the ends is most definitely not the sort of leader they need right now. Truth be told she’s not confident she is either, but hey, hard times call for unexpected solutions.
Gently, she stands to her feet and guides her away from Steven’s body. “Hey, Greg-o and I got this, P. No worries. Just have the ship ready for us.”
“I— are you sure?”
“Yeah, we can carry him no problem, right Greg?”
She turns to match eyes with him, every fragment of her being silently pleading for his agreement.
“Uh, I— sure,” he says, although he doesn’t sound so confident. “I think so. Let me just...” He huffs as he pushes himself off his knees, and shifts closer to his son’s head. “I’ll hold him up front, okay? I’m taller, an’ I’ve carried him before, an’—“
Amethyst’s tone softens. “Hey.” Straining to hold herself together for his sake, amidst all her doubts and fears, she moves to pat his forearm. Attempts to ground him. “Hey, you’re good. We can do this.”
She closes her eyes and inhales deeply to calm down her own unsteady form. No panic. Don’t let them see your panic. You’ve gotta be the mature one here. It’s gonna work out, Steven will be fine. You’ll all be fine.
Breathe. Just breathe.
“Pearl, start the ship for us,” she says once she’s balanced herself. Not a question, not a request, no hesitation in her tone. Not a confused, defective Quartz soldier waiting for orders, nor a naïve Gem clinging on the heels of the first living souls she ever saw, nor a loyal teammate constantly deferring to another’s judgement out of insecurity, out of the flawed belief that no one would ever take an overcooked runt like her seriously. No, no. Not today. Instead, as she rises above the shadowed, fettered memories of her past, Amethyst takes hold of the reigns of leadership as easily as grasping her whip.
Pearl offers a weak smile as she nods in confirmation, and starts to scuttle back towards the Roaming Eye’s door. “Yes, of course!”
Good, she thinks. One issue taken care of. Now, as for Steven and Greg...
The two shift in tandem around the cracked boy as they prepare to lift him. In his current state, it’s imperative that they’re careful. She clasps her hands around his ankles, feeling a twisting close to her gem as she watches him instinctively flinch at her touch.
“Shh-shh, it’s okay,” Greg whispers. “We gotcha.”
“Dad,” he croaks, the first words he’s had the strength to speak in a good while. “Duhh- D-Dad, I... Ahm- I’m suh... sss-so sorry—“
Her hard-light form nearly spikes cold with fear as he continues to mindlessly babble. Shards, now his words are becoming slurred! He’s deteriorating. They gotta make this quick.
“Steven, we’re gonna pick you up on three, capiche?” She locks eyes with his father, her friend, seeking confirmation. “Ready?”
“One,” Greg mutters, solidifying his hold under his armpits.
“Two...”
“Three!” they say at once, hefting the teen’s full weight up off the forest floor with a grunt.
He produces a sharp gasp in response. The sound makes her cringe. She knows they can’t avoid jostling him altogether if they want to transport him to the fountain, but... geeze, she really hopes they’re not hurting him any more than he already is. And she hopes he doesn’t seize up on them again while he’s off the ground. That could turn out disastrously.
Working together, they carry him across the grassy clearing and up the shallow incline of the ship’s ramp. Slow and steady, as careful as they can be... Greg’s breathing hard by the time they reach the entrance, but his grip holds strong. Meanwhile, Pearl sits at the cockpit, punching in coordinates for Rose’s fountain. Besides her, the ship is empty.
“No Garnet?” Amethyst asks as she leads them inside, finally seeing fit to bring up the obvious question.
She shakes her head in fervent stress. “She’s still away on her mission on the Niessea Belt worlds. I tried contacting her, but—“
Steven gives a painful, keening cry, his entire body shooting rigid in their hold. Her eyes snap open wide.
Shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, not now, not now—
“Greg- Greg, hold him!” she shouts, slipping into hysterics as he begins to seize again, limbs jerking and breath coming in quick shallow gasps. She can feel the muscles of his legs spasm in staccato bursts under her hands. “Hold him, don’t drop him, you—“
Pearl jumps up from her seat upon hearing all the commotion. “What’s wrong with him??”
“I’m trying, I’m—!”
“Set him down, set him down! Quickly! We gotta get him back on the floor where it’s safe, I can’t let him get hurt again, I can’t—“
“Sh-shta...” Steven slurs, face contorting as he rides this episode out. “Puh... please, I—“
“I’m starting the ship!” the ivory Gem says, punching the last few buttons needed to close the door and launch them on their way.
The Roaming Eye shakes ever so gently as it lifts up out of the dense forest. Amethyst stumbles, legs slightly wobbling as she coordinates with Greg to deposit Steven safely on the cool metallic floor, his head resting in his father’s lap. His spasms are more intermittent now. Hopefully this means this latest round of seizing has reached its end.
For now, she can’t help but fret, swallowing with a heavy gulp as she watches Greg comb back his sweat slicked curls. Until they can fix that crack in his gem, he’s gonna get worse and worse. She knows this from experience. Simply put, being cracked long-term is a nightmare. You can’t think straight, you can’t speak straight, you lose all control of your physical form... She’d willingly poof a thousand times if it meant she could avoid janking up her gem like that again.
Which is why it absolutely shatters her to have to watch Steven suffer through this too.
She watches silently as the boy lets his eyes slide shut for now, held safe in his father’s embrace. His rest isn’t exactly restful— as evident from how his brow and nose keep scrunching inwards as he seethes from the sensation of it all— but anything is better than nothing in this state.
“So you- you said he’s cracked?” Greg asks, looking up at her with dampened eyes. His hands are shaking now. The man is clearly a hair’s breadth away from breaking down in tears. It’s genuinely a credit to his strength as a father that he’s holding it together at all.
Gently, Amethyst lifts the hem of his shirt to reveal his gemstone. The deep gouge marring the diamond at his navel says everything her words cannot. The others’ reactions are immediate, their eyes blowing wide with fear. Even Pearl, even someone who knows the power of Rose’s healing magic firsthand. Horror clutching with a vice-like grip upon her gem, she notes that the crack has expanded since she last looked.
“We were just tracking down that corrupted Gem that tripped our detectors this morning,” she explains. “But it ambushed us! I... geeze, I thought we could like, poof it no problem, but...”
“It got the jump on him instead,” Pearl says in a blunt, grim manner. She balls up her hand at her chin, expression haunted by the very thought. “Stars, I can’t even imagine how badly this hurts! It must have taken quite the hit to crack a diamond like this.”
His father rubs at the boy’s shoulder, wincing at the sight of his baseline quivering, his jaw clenched like a knife to the grindstone and his eyes twisted shut. “Is there anything we can do right now to lessen the pain for him?”
Hmm. She curls her lip, musing on this. Good ol’ Pierogi probably has human pain killers stashed away somewhere in that pearl of hers. But there’s no guarantee that such a remedy would do a single thing to help, given the nature of his injury. It’s the Gem half of him that’s hurt, not the squishy organic half. So whatever they do it’s gotta be a Gem remedy, and the only Gem remedy she can think of for an injured Gem is...
“Well,” Pearl begins cautiously, her gaze drifting between the three of them, “when Gems became cracked during the rebellion, we used to poof them until Rose could return to use her healing magic, so they wouldn’t have to deal with the trauma of glitching out so badly. But of course, Steven’s different! He’s half human. We can’t expect it’ll work in the same way!”
Although...
“Can we poof him?” she shrugs, playing devil’s advocate for a moment.
The whites of Greg’s eyes expand as he gawks at her. “W-what are you suggesting, exactly?”
“I mean, he can fuse, right?”
“Well, yes—“
“An’ same as poofing,” she cuts back in, holding up a finger for emphasis, “fusion is a sorta... shifting of our hard light forms. His organic half goes somewhere during all that, yeah? If he poofed, maybe it’d be the same.”
The man’s sunburnt face drains just about as pale as Pearl’s as he clutches onto his son all the tighter. “Uh, I don’t think now’s the right time to test a hypothesis like that. Or ever.”
“Greg’s right,” Pearl says. “There’s simply too much we can’t say with certainty about his hybrid nature.” Tears building in her eyes, she brushes her slender fingers against his cheek. “But he’s a fighter, our Steven. He’ll carry through.”
Below her, Steven lets out a soft whimper. Realization hits her with the force of a quartz’s strike that she genuinely has no way of knowing for sure how much or how little he’s aware of his surroundings right now. Her face flushes dark with shame. Held taut at her sides, she clenches her fists tight, mentally pulling away from the conversation in which clearly her stupid half-baked ideas are unwelcome and instead fixating on the quickened thrum of the hard light running in channels through every square inch of her form. A pang of anger swells up within her, all putrid and stale. What on Earth was she thinking?? He’s in agony, he’s broken, and yet she has the gall to suggest such a moronic, risky idea anyways? When his very survival hangs in the balance? Geeze. What the hell.
She’s disgusting.
She hastily stalks away from the trio to catch some fresh air, slouching against one of the windows and pressing her cheek to the glass. A small sliver of her can’t help but admire the view through the Roaming Eye’s wide windows. The ship running on autopilot, they’ve long since lifted through the clouds and into the stratosphere. It’s all white and grey swirls as far as the eye can see. The reds and pinks of sunset edging at the visible horizon greet them with warmth.
With everything else plaguing her it’s a hollow appreciation, though. No matter what thoughts she tries to distract herself with, the memory of that ill-fated fight sinks its claws into her mind more and more by the minute. Every tangible stimulus— the sights, the smells, the sounds, the pains— it all plays on repeat. It’s insufferable, obsessive. Like some self-despairing sapphire she traces each and every decision that led her here, bolds and underlines every mistake.
And no matter how many times she tries with desperation to make up for it, tries to save him, no matter how many loops through recent past she takes, it all brings her to one single, overwhelming conclusion:
All of this... all of this needless suffering...
It should’ve been her.

Magnum P.I. S02xE18-20 spoilers and tidbits
I thought i’ll give a prologue first 😅 Remember i pet project where i was trying to decipher the episode names? yea i didn’t get very far on that.. but i have come to a conclusion, that each title is a convention for what the clients in that episode, and/or our P.I. is going through. Eg. S02xE16 : Farewell To Love
Episode starts with Gladys and Bert who had given up on love but eventually found it in one another. The fact that Gladys narrated this part makes it poetic in a sense that she was the one who had to say bid farewell to Bert. Then TC and Teresa, they found the one that they always loved. The one who made them happier, but TC had to let her go go, he bid farewell to his love, instead of ruining 3 lives. In the beginning of the episode, we see magnum all in for online dating, but after what happened with Dylan, we see him coming to an abrupt conclusion that online dating is just isn’t the thing for him, also adding to the fact, the girl who met through an app (Abby) had just recently broken off with him. So magnum kind of bid a metaphorical farewell to finding love online.
Spoilers for S02x18, S02x19 and S02x20 under the cut if you wish to continue. Warning: My rant got hella long, longer than i planned and there are lots of pics and links below. Thanks @maggiesoa and @lizzysfavs for providing some food for my thoughts 😊
So.. lets begin with S02x18 : A world of trouble I’m just grouping together the pics that I’ve found so far which seem to be related to episode 18: Perdy and Bobby discussed about having a scene together ignore jay’s comment here, I’m all for #TeamJin and I will riot if they ever kill him. I believe the episode starts with Jin, showing up at Robin’s nest, where he ends up in a situation where he has to change in magnum’s clothes (note the t-shirt magnum is ironing... (Edit: DIDN'T HAPPEN!!?? I MEAN!! This could have been cute.. didn't have to be a total BTS for once!!) Where we get this scene, All i can guess right now is that is a tab in Jin’s had, and he’s being a fair judge for miggy while they prepare for their visa interview, or he could be here with today’s case
Which takes us to to the primary promo for 2x18, where they solve the case at hand. Now my guess is that the case doesnt take up entire 47 minutes, because this promo also exists. What this secondary promo also shows is them at a office(?) guessing visa or may be its a school where the current client works? where magnum/higgy blurts out that they’re marrying and some lady says that they don’t look like a couple. We also see Katsumoto warning Higgy about the consequences of marrying their business partner. (Edit: this did happen and fueled Higgy’s resolve to back out.. nothing wrong there..but as Jin said.. may it be with Magnum or TC, u’re still breaking the law Mrs. I can figure out how pretending with TC is going to get good results? if anything.. it only comes out of nowhere) I’m sensing a connection here again with the title of the episode: A world of trouble: - The current client, the case was definitely given to them by some one else because they approach the lady coz Higgy says “You’re in trouble, we just want to help you.”, which means she might have refused help at one point. - Literally 2 people in a 2 min worth promo have commented on their wedding, does this not sound like trouble to you?
When magnum is possibly heading out to go to La Mariana, (Edit: DING! DING! DING! This was indeed before the bar scene.. which kinda broke my heart.. but we’ll talk about that in detail later) she tells him that she’s reconsidered her decision that she will be marrying TC instead (which is weird, but for the sake of it, OK). Which also implies that she’s going to have a heart to heart with TC how she had one with Rick before in 2x13. (Edit: Umm.. i would have liked to hear the entire convo here.. but i guess its going to come back a flashback some day?) Magnum than heads to the bar, with Jin where he meets up with his friends and we get this, going by past experiences, this is going to be the last scene where he’s with his friends. Now what leaves me confused is this guy below, the one that magnum rescued and now has a food truck (Rem S1x01, they got him all the way from there now). He’s not listed for 2x18, but the actors caption says 2x18? So is he like the caterer for the wedding? (i thought kamekona was doing that?) or he’s there for entirely other reason?
Now this all leads up to S02x19 : May The Best One Win Again the title is the synopsis here,
Magnum and Higgins are each hired by a different spouse who are in the middle of a contentious divorce to dig up dirt on the other, and Thomas and Higgins soon find themselves competing over resources.
But i don’t think them competing again each other is the only thing here, remember this gem from TV guide magazine? - Jay mentions there being an odd jealousy there, and there is something percolating between the duo which magnum doesn’t want to address just yet. I think the competition is not just between Magnum and Higgy, for magnum it is also between him and TC. May be he’ll be still trying to show her that he is the one she should be marrying, even if that’s fake. - And for the implied element we also have this garage fight, where they’re up against “just one guy, but a very big guy”. This again i don’t think takes forever to solve since, there’s an upcoming wedding everyone has to attend, we’ve all seen the famous pics, but this:
Him again!! And looks like he is in fact catering the event. Now since S02x19 and S02x20 are to be merged into one mega episode, lets slip into: S02x20 : A Leopard on the Prowl
Magnum and Higgins help Rick when his father figure, Icepick , just out of prison and battling terminal cancer, gets double crossed on one last score. Also, Magnum makes one last bold move to help Higgins stay in the country.
This is the rick centric episode the viewers were promised, Adding pics of Zac coz he looks great here:
But do you see anything missing here? My sleep deprived brain does. Icepick seems to be have fallen pray to something on the run, nothing pre-planned, the guy has terminal cancer, he’s dying any day now, why would someone spend any time to plan something against him? (He’s probably going to die in this epi..he only had few months.. the article says “reluctantly try to help him” seriously guys why do you have to be reluctant? And below pic is probably of the same related fight scene Jay talked about in the TV guide snippet:
And if the video Jay uploaded is even close to the actual scene, it could be because the guy hit Rick/Higgy and Magnum picked up another fight with him.. or that’s just for insta.. I’ll leave it open. There’s a fight scene with TC as well i suppose. Now what does the title have to do with the episode? Here’s my theory: - Remember Dr. Kim i already mentioned twice above. He’s gotta be here for more than just “catering the wedding”, magnum said he was a code breaker, he was mentioned in one of Robin’s books, he instantly identified the co-ordinates which Nuzzo left for Magnum, (which is duh! u’re telling me that magnum was a navy SEAL and can read waves but cant piece together actual co-ordinates?!!). Magnum was kidnapped by Ivan’s people coz he needed something from him which was in the books, later Ivan had magnum delivered to himself on a secret mission of retrieving Hayek, who was a weapons dealer but he got away with drones instead.. I think this is all related somehow, there has to be something in this episode that points to this.. I thought may be its in Robin’s books.. but they have never mentioned the same book twice.. I’m still looking for answers though.. But going ahead, see this ,
“ Magnum makes one last bold move to help Higgins stay in the country.” “You see Higgins in a unexpected position, which magnum is very uncomfortable with and where he is not sure about his place”
Soo.. the wedding didn’t happen? So that’s not helping her stay in the country?
It didn’t bother me much before.. but think about this, what if since the wedding plan backfired, she has to go back to London until her visa is renewed/reapplied for : an unexpected position since she has found something in Hawaii she doesn’t want to loose. Which leaves magnum as the in-charge of Robin’s nest and Zeus and Apollo and part of the deal [I can almost see my HC at the horizon]. An uncomfortable position where he has to manage the estate and the hounds of hell without his “professional better half”. I think there is a beach good-bye scene on this day, may be an actual hug between miggy? Supporting evidence as follows:
Now the last attempt Magnum makes, does he offer her a job? Does he confess? But that wouldn’t automatically land her in an unexpected situation , that would be magnum putting her in that situation while being full aware of his position. I bet lenkov has got pretty good plan for this to play out. Now this doesn’t back up my crack where Higgins leaves, because
This story was posted along with the one where magnum is boating.. so they’re probably from the same episode.. where the last ditch effort has paid off but Magnum and Higgins roles have now been shifted a little and lenkov’s quote makes sense “Nothing really changes”.. has anyone ne noticed that there are no Juliet pics from 2x20 yet?
I cant wait to see that though.. and for a 100% i know there is a season 3, its a gut feeling i have. Thank you for stopping by.. sorry it was too long 😘

The Middle of the Road (Chapter 8)
Chapter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
Chapter 8
After his shower, Keanu put on sweat pants and a t shirt and lay on the bed to reflect.
“How had it come to this?”
It wasn’t just the misunderstanding over Hannah having her arm around him, he knew that, but he was struggling to see the through line. He knew he was thinking about his own life like a script or a storyline, but hey, when they developed scripts, they always wanted the character arcs to be real even if sometimes the events were totally “out there”. He had clearly slept walked into this so he needed to retrace his steps somehow. He wanted to ask Em, but she was closed off to him right now and he got the impression that part of the problem was that he’d missed the signals - it was time for him to try to figure out at least some of his mis-steps so he could apologise for his part in the situation. But man she was way out of line to suggest he was trying to brush things under the carpet when he’d repeatedly tried to explain and been rejected.
That evening things remained awkward between them. Karina returned with a tired out Johnny and pizza. Hannah had a tiny piece to suck on but mostly other food since she was too young for all the flavours, sugar and salt but the rest of them tucked in especially Keanu and Emily - neither of them had really thought about food since the day before when they’d gone to hospital with Hannah.
After dinner and for the next few nights Emily breast-fed Hannah then slept in the nursery on a futon to be sure Hannah was OK. Keanu focussed on Johnny, bathing him, settling him into bed and reading him his story before retreating downstairs where he’d pour himself some wine or a whiskey then go to bed alone. The same pattern persisted in the daytime also. They were a tag team working in shifts and their communication was minimal.
On the third day, Keanu arranged to meet Alex at the beach with his kids, forewarning him that he needed relationship advice. Luckily his boys were great with Johnny and so he and Alex had a good amount of time to talk.
Alex was reluctant to interfere, but he did share some useful personal experience.
“With my first, I was just too young, I didn’t pull my weight in any way. 2nd time around I was determined not to do that, but it was a lot harder than I thought it would be. We both wanted to have it all. To be with the kids and to work and to spend time with each other as a couple. It’s a tough balancing act for sure. I mean what was your plan?”
Keanu snorted
“you think we had a plan?! I mean when we fell pregnant the first time it was a shock coz we’d given up and then 2nd time it was a shock again from which I think we’re still recovering honestly. We always said having a child would mean less focus on work and I have cut back, you know I have but, we haven’t had much of a strategy about anything beyond trying to carve out some time for Em to write.”
“Well that’s positive surely?”
Keanu’s expression was sheepish.
“What?”
“Well we started well, a couple of solid afternoons a week where I had both kids but lately….”
“Lately…..?”
“More of my stuff has crept in so there are windows of time but not whole chunks”
He sighed, beginning to realise the slippery slope he’d fallen down.
“and I think I persuaded myself that it added up to the same amount of time but really she needs a good run at it, not lots of little pockets. No wonder she ranted about her brain going to jello because my creativity was taking priority!”
“Oh”
“Yes ‘oh’, God I’m such an idiot. Last time she asked if there would be time for her to write in the coming week and I had too many meetings so there wasn’t, I told her not to freak out as she didn’t have a live project”
“Oh man, Kiki!”
Keanu punched his head with his fist.
“And then I was telling Hannah that somehow I was clearly messing things up with Em when Em walked in and saw us”
“Saw you what?!” Alex’s eyebrow had shot up wondering what Keanu had been caught doing!
“Just, I was upset, worried and she put her arm round me”
“And Emily walked in?”
Keanu nodded dejectedly.
“Oh Man, and have you explained what she saw to Em?”
“ I’ve tried, over and over again but she won’t even have a conversation with me”
“When was this?
“The afternoon before we took Hannah to the ER”
“So she might still be thinking you’re cheating or something?”
Another dejected nod from Keanu greeted that statement.
“Shit!”
“And didn’t you two meet when you were collaborating on a script?”
That last comment was like a sucker punch to Keanu’s chest as a more full realisation of how he had most probably hurt Emily struck him. She’d seen him enjoying a new creative project, waxing lyrical about it, singing the praises of the person he was working with, inviting her over to dinner. The fact that they had fallen in love in similar circumstances must have played on her mind and then he’d prioritised his project over her being able to have just a little time to start writing again. What a bastard!
“Keanu! Keanu!”
Keanu had been silent for a good 5 minutes and Alex was trying to get his attention.
“What?”
“Where did you go?”
“Just thinking, finally, about how this all might have seemed from Emily’s perspective. When you said about us meeting the way we did, I realised how this collaboration with Hannah might have felt to her. “
“Like a threat you mean?”
“Exactly!”

﹒♱﹒
✒︎requested: no i just loved the gif ✒︎warnings: swearing & narcotics + mentions of blood, bruises & violence && lots of tension ✒︎word count: 5000+ ✒︎season set: 1
[originally posted on my wattpad, bc idk how to post via tumblr but we tryin’. feedback majorly appreciated x]
﹒♱﹒
You took a deep breath as you lifted your bruised and dried bloody knuckle to the oh so familiar door. A thousand thoughts racing through your mind as you tapped your foot, both with impatience and disconcertment of what consequences would follow.
You had moved to Small Heath at the age of seven, give or take, your father had got a job promotion which meant moving up country. When you first arrived you were known as 'The Cockneys At The Bottom Of Watery Lane'. You weren't even from London. You just happened to live near the capital. Not that anyone cared.
When you started school it was the same, only worse. All the girls would pick on you for speaking funny and the boys would pick on you for being too 'brash'. It wasn't your fault your parents had raised you to not take any shit. With your fathers line of work, he wasn't around an awful lot which mean you and your mother had to do a lot of things yourself. Which you, of course, didn't mind but it did mean that a lot of people would be confused and usually straight up rude.
They'd say things along the lines of, 'Whys a women doing this' and, 'Are women even capable of doing that', and so on, when you and your mother were doing the simplest of things.
Anyway, when you joined the school in Small Heath you found that being a girl with her head held high and strong arms wasn't easy.
One day you were minding your own business under the oak tree in the corner of the playground, reading Oliver Twist, if you remember correctly. When out of nowhere a group of kids made their way over to you; three girls and about five boys, all looking irritated.
"Wot ya doing, girl?", a boy with a scarf on asked you.
You rolled your eyes, turning to look at him as you put your bookmark in your book, "I have a name, you know?".
The boy scowled, "I don't care".
'What do you want?', you asked again, looking at the rest of them, "I'm busy".
A girl took a step forward, her hands behind her back as her plaits fell in front of her shoulders, "Just wanted to know why you're such a freak?".
You laughed, "I'm not a freak", you stood up.
"Yeah you are", a little boy from the back spoke up, "Ya read all the time n wear trousers". Another girl nodded, "Yeah girls don't wear trousers, they're for boys, ya freak".
"Girls can wear trousers too, you know?", you crossed your arms, "They're actually really comfortable".
The first boy that spoke to you shook his head, "I bet you wear trousers coz your mum n dad can't afford dresses, ay?", he said as he turned to look at his friends.
You didn't think twice before you lunged forward and brought the boy to the ground, "Fuck did you just say?", you spat as his friends gasped. When the boy didn't answer you shook him by his collar a little, "Didn't hear you".
"I said", he spoke, "You're poor and a freak of a girl", he sniggered.
You narrowed your eyes and lifted your fist before hitting him in the nose. He yelled and pushed you, knocking you slightly but you didn't fall over.
The kids started shouting "Fight... Fight... Fight...", causing a crowd of other kids to come running.
Soon enough you had hit him about four times before you heard an older voice, "Wots going on 'ere then?". You turned around to see three boys in flat caps, the voice belonging to the tallest.
"Wot's it look like?", you said, "I'm beating him u-", you were cut off as the boy beneath you grabbed one of your braids, yanking you down to the floor with him.
You quickly kicked him in the stomach before the three boys grabbed you and held you back, the other boy groaning in pain.
Walking you away as you shouted the boys laughed.
"Wot's your name then?", the smallest one asked as they sat you on a bench. You kept your chin up as you studied them, "Y/N", you narrowed your eyes, " 'ho uh you's then?".
The other two boys looked at each-other and chuckled before turning back to you, "That", they motioned to the smallest boy, "Is John". You nodded. "I'm Arthur", the tallest said before turning to the boy in the middle, "And this is-".
"I'm Tommy", he said as he held his hand out for you to shake, "These are my brothers".
You shook his hand and sat up straighter, "So Wot?", you began, "Yous the topdogs 'ere or sumin?", you asked.
They laughed as John spoke, "Yeah! We're the best here". Tommy gently shoved his brother, "Shut up, John", he said and looked back to you, "We're not yet, but no one messes with us if that's what you mean".
You nodded again, "So can I join your little gang?".
Arthur laughed, "Well you're not a Shel-", his brother Tommy cut him off.
"That's what I wanted to speak to you about actually, Y/N".
You smiled, "So that's a yes?".
John looked over to his older brothers, "Oh please, she's funny!".
Arthur looked back to you, "Where'd you live?", he asked you.
"Wa'ery Lane", you told him, "'bout a month now".
"Oh you're that girl", he said, "She's the cockney down the bottom of the Lane", he nudged Tommy.
"Alright we'll come and see you after school and you can join us", Tommy smiled.
You jumped to your feet and stood on your tippy-toes to be at the same height as Tommy, "Nah", you simply said as you watched his eyebrows furrow, "I'll meet yous, by the bridge at 'alf three", alright?".
Tommy sighed, "Deal". The two of you spat on your hand and shook on it.
The rest was history. You and the three brother became best friends. Wherever you went, they followed and whoever they met up with, so did you.
You and John were the same age, you two were practically the same, it was hilarious. As you grew up you and John would always be playing pranks on the others and messing around with baby Micheal. No one left the two of you alone because they knew something would end up alight.
As for Arthur and Tommy, you all got on well. Whenever anyone messes with you, a seldom occurrence, they wouldn't mind paying them a quick visit. You helped Arthur with his maths and various other things as often as you could, although you didn't tell everyone about that, he wasn't proud.
As for Tommy, you two always loved to talk about the bigger picture and such. Often you two would walk down to the Canal or Charlie's Yard and spend a good few hours just talking about life and theories and your life aspirations.
By the time you and John were 18 your life had changed a lot, along with his. Of course you were still close friends but what with work and relationships you didn't see him as much as you would've liked. The same with Arthur, he always seemed to be busy, doing what you weren't sure exactly but when you did see him you'd always stop for a chat.
You saw Tommy most, he always made a point of stopping into the Newsagents you worked at, just to say good morning. You appreciated the gesture but couldn't help but feel as if you were wasting his time, you were always so busy trying to set up for the day you never got a minute to sit and chat with him.
As you had grown older, yours and Tommy's relationship had shifted slightly. Not that either of you dared to acknowledge, but you knew. You were both guilty of finding excuses to be around each-other and touch one another. Purposely bickering to clear a room of Shelby's out so that you were alone. Stealing glances whilst the other weren't paying attention. Just silly little things that you would try and pass off as platonic intimacy as you laid in bed at night overthinking every single word you said to the man that day... and every other day you'd ever known him.
Of course you wondered if he felt the same. It felt like he did but you could just be imagining that. And you weren't prepared to ruin what you had just because of some silly crush.
However come the end of 1913 your father was now too old to do the job he had moved here to do. And your mother missed her home town and family and as one thing led to another and they decided it was time to move back.
Of course you were devastated, you loved your job even though it was more than trouble then it was worth and you loved your friends. But you were also excited to go back, of course you had been back, Christmas and Easter and what not. But you missed living there, the bustle, the accents, the opportunities and fast changing trends.
So that's what happened, you spent your last few weeks making the most of it with the Shelby's and your job before the day you left came around. You promised you'd visit, and of course you would. You promised to write, and of course you went out and brought new writing pens and paper.
By the time you were settled back into your hometown war had broken out and it seemed almost every man you knew here was off to war. The brothers back in Birmingham as well. You couldn't bare to think about the consequences of that. You still kept in touch with all three of them though.
Until you didn't.
Around a month after the boys were back from the war the letters stopped coming. You weren't sure why or how but they did. So you stopped writing. Your pride was to big to just simply write to Aunt Pol and ask if everyone was ok incase they were and they just didn't like you.
So how did you get to knocking on their betting shop front doors at 11 o'clock at night?
The door opened after you had began knocking constantly after a minute of waiting.
"The fock do ya wan-", a deep voice began before releasing who they were speaking to.
You looked up, almost shocked, "Fuckin' 'ell, Arthur, you ain't 'alf grown since a last saw ya", you let out a strained chuckle as you looked at the man who seemed to be stunned.
"You gunna let me in or should I just bleed out over your shop front?", you joked dryly, "Don't think it'd be good for business".
"Uh yeah", he said as he shook his head, "No come in, yeah, just watch your step, it's busy". You furrowed your eyebrows as you stepped past him, it was 11 at night why would it be busy?
It was though. The entire room was full of people racing back and forward, counting money, writing numbers, sneaking an extra line now that Arthur had his back turned.
"There's a race tomorrow", Arthur told you as he placed a hand around your shoulder, "Now come on, let's get you fixed up, and then you can tell me what the fock happened to ya hands".
You nodded and followed him through the busy shop, keeping your head. Avoiding catching anyone's eye. Someone's eye.
"Polly!", Arthur shouted as he closed the green doors behind you, "Ay! Polly! Ada! Get down 'ere!".
"Sorry, am I causing you trouble, I didn't mean to end up here I just sort of- did?", you mumbled to Arthur, nervously.
"Wot you on about? You're always welcome here Y/N, you know that", he smiled before shouting for Polly once more. "And besides, this is a great time coz Tommy needs a fucking cheering up", he said as he pulled out a chair at the table for you to sit at.
You looked down at the table as you carefully held your hands above it, trying not to ruin it, "Is that so", you began, "dunno if I can help with that mate".
Arthur reached forwards and tilted your chin up to face him, "I hope for both our sakes that ain't true, you're the only hope left, Y/N", he said honestly.
"Wot do'ya mean?", you asked quietly.
Before he could reply you heard two squeals from behind Arthur. Looking up you saw Polly and Ada, and a little boy following behind.
"Y/N!", Polly said as she lifted her hands in the air, "You're here! You're well", she smiled as she walked over to you, wrapping her arms around your side.
"Oh my god", Ada said as she walked over to the other side of you.
"Wot the fuck happened to ya-" Polly asked as she grabbed an old tea towel and placed it carefully under your hands.
"To make a long story short", you forced a smile, "I thought it would be a good idea to find the man that burgled my parents", you cut yourself off with a 'fuck' as Ada began tending to your bruises, "And let's just say.. it wasn't".
Arthur sat up straight, "Can't be that bad", he laughed, "What'd'ya kill him or something", he joked, making light of the situation.
You licked your bottom lip, not saying anything for a moment before looking up from your hands to Arthur's face with a gulp.
"Wait you-", he began.
"You fucking killed someone!", Ada raised her voice in shock.
"Who's killed who then?", A chirpy voice asked as they walked in the room. You knew that voice from a mile off.
"John?", you called out, "John is that you, come 'ere", you said as you tried your best to turn towards the direction of the voice but Ada and Polly were blocking your view.
"Oh fuck off", John said as he pulled out a chair next to Arthur and next to you, "You didn't come and see me first! I'm offended" he joked, "When did you get back?", he beamed as he leant onto the table, hands clasped, "How are you? Any crazy stories to tell me coz I've got loads and- The fock happened to your hand?", John besieged you with questions.
You laughed, "Yeah, missed you too, mate", you said simply as you looked back down at your hands which were stinging now as Polly cleaned them with neat alcohol.
"So do you wanna go down the Garrison after this then?", John simply asked you, ignoring the fact you were being patched up and hadn't seen him since 1913. It was as if you hadn't even spend half an hour apart let alone five or so years.
You looked up with a beaming smile across your red lips, "Fuck kind of a question is that .. of course I do, John".
Arthur cheered as he got up and reached up on top of the kitchen cabinet and grabbed a bottle of whisky. Finding a few small glasses he poured out some drinks, passing them around. John holding yours as both your hands were currently being worked on.
"To this one", Arthur said as he ruffled your hair slightly, just like he had to when you were kids (which you hated, but now it seemed comforting), before everyone cheered slightly and downed their drink.
"Who we toasting to this time then, ay?", a quite deep voice spoke from across the room. Arthur turned around in shock, spilling the bottle of whiskey over that he had brought over and left on the table. "Oh fuck sake Tommy, look what you made me do!", he shouted.
"You fucking idiot", Polly complained as she looked up, "I brought that whiskey to drink, not wash the floor with!".
John burst out laughing as he watched Arthur scuttle around trying to find something to soak it up with. As Ada left your side to help her brother, you looked up back to where the voice had come from.
Thomas.
You gulped softly, running your eyes over the man across the room. He seemed colder, more mature but rather in a sense that he had lost any grip on hope or joy. A contrast to how John seemed. As you looked back up to his face you blushed as you realised he was already staring back at you.
He walked over as he took his cap off, shoving it into his pocket and pulling out a cigarette.
He sat down at the table, stealing Arthur's seat, who was still trying to apologise to Polly for spilling her drink.
"Bet you're glad to be back", Tommy joked dryly as he placed his cigarette in his mouth and nodded in your direction as he pulled out out a light.
You smiled, "Yeah, I definitely missed this", you said sincerely, looking over at everyone, "Whatever 'this' is", you laughed, looking back over at Tommy.
Everyone pretended to still be busy as they all secretly listened in on the exchange between the two of you - amazed that Tommy had even cracked a smile.
"Right, well that should be fine now", Polly tapped your shoulder, "Just don't get into any fights for about a week, at least", she smiled before walking off, taking Ada and Arthur with her. Leaving John who was playing with his thumbs.
"So the Garrison yeah?", you looked over at your best mate, "tonight?".
"Yeah", he smiled, "I'll buy the first round".
You tilted your head with narrowed eyes, "Don't you practically own the pub", you asked as the smell of Tommy's cigarette filled your nose, in a weird sense it was comforting to you.
John nodded with a shrug, "So you won't be buying it then, will you?", you laughed, "And I will".
"Yeah something like that", he laugh as he stood up, "That's what you get for leavin' us".
"Yeah, coz it's not like you went away to war or anything anyway", you shouted after him as he walked off, acting offended. You let out a quiet snort as you watched.
"Why didn't ya visit?", Tommy spoke after a moment, "Y'know, when we got back".
"Yous stopped writing", you said plainly, "So I thought yuh didn't wanna see me", you shrugged as you looked down at your bruised hands.
"We didn't stop.. you stopped", Tommy leant back in his chair.
"Um, No", you furrowed your eyebrows, "I didn't stop writing first, why would I've done that", you argued.
Tommy shook his head slightly, blowing smoke out as he rubbed his temples, "I know what happened". You looked at him expectantly, waiting for him to explain. "Someone stopped delivering our letters and stealing yours when they got here", he leant forward, looking down at your hands, clenching his jaw, "Wot happened?".
"But- But why would someone do that?", you asked, ignoring his question.
"Dunno", he said and thought for a moment, "I'll ask Finn, he used to collect our post and such".
"Finn?", you raised your eyebrows, "Oh my god, is Finn the boy that- oh my god he's so grown up now!", you gasped.
Tommy smiled, "Shot up when we all went away, didn't he?". You nodded, shifting in your seat, turning towards Tommy slightly as you leant back.
"What happened?", Tommy asked again, in reference to your hands. You watched as he brushed away any dirt on the table, not wanting anything to get lodged in your cuts even if they were now covered and treated. You studied his hands now, all the small marks left from old cuts and gashes.
"Um", you didn't know where to start, "Just after the war ended, y'know, everyone settling back in best they could, everyone still disorientated", you absentmindedly began tapping your foot under the table as you continued. Tommy noticed but kept quite. "Well this man, I knew him actually — right cock'ead, worked at the butchers and spied on all the school girls when they walked 'ome", you grimaced, "So yeah anyway, it was a Wednesday evening, I'd popped round to me parents 'ouse, just two roads away from mine, and um", you licked your bottom lip, lightly biting the skin on the inside.
"When I got- when I got there they were both knocked out cold, only just fuckin' breathin'", you shook your head as you remembered, your tapping growing louder, "That's when I realised someone was in thee 'ouse". Tommy held his chin high as he tried to contain his displeasure, not only had this mysterious man caused you pain but also your parents - who he knew well and respected.
"So I goes up stairs and the pig is filing though my mothers jewellery box ain't he?", you laughed dryly to yourself, "Only to realise everything is sentimental and barely worth a fuckin' thing", you cursed.
Tommy opened his mouth to speak, unsure of what to say but he wanted to comfort you, even if he was a little late. He didn't get the chance as you began speaking again, the anger in your voice more present.
"I mean what the fuck did he think was gonna be there? Fucking Faberge Eggs? We're livin' on the outskirts of London for fucks sake", you wanted to clench your fists but it would ruin everything Polly had just achieved, instead you decided to throw your head back and angrily shout 'fuck'.
Tommy stifled a laugh as he watched you so desperately want to lash out, "So what did you do?".
You lifted your head back up slowly and looked over at Tommy, dead in the eyes, "I told him to fuck off and never come back", you simply said, adding, "With a butchers knife in my hand, and a pistol in the other".
Tommy took a long drag of his cigarette as he looked at you, "And people say I'm threatening", he joked.
Shrugging with a small smirk you leant forward, crossing your legs in hopes of stopping yourself from tapping them. "Anyway, he left with his hands up and then I never saw him again".
Tommy butted his cigarette in the ashtray and folded his arms, ready to hear the gruesome end to your story.
"That was until I obviously tracked him down, I wasn't going to let him get away with hurting my parents".
"Did it take long?".
"No", you looked down at your hands once more, "I found him in a day or two, moved up to Coventry .. I went up to visit him once a month— secretly of course, just to make sure he was still there and what no", you raised your eyebrows before you spoke, "And then today I decided he was finally comfortable, my threats of finding him finally at the back of his mind".
Tommy looked you over as you sat, one leg still bouncing as your thumbs rolled over one another, your bottom lip a piece of meat to your top teeth as little bits of your lipstick began to wear off.
"I'll spare you the gore but let's just say he got more then I intended to give him and now he's resting in his own fire pit", you smiled sinisterly as you looked up to Tommy. "I feel bad of course, I guess", your smile faded, "But he deserved it, and it wasn't as if he had any family that cared about him".
Tommy took a short breath, straightening his back and smoothing his waistcoat down before looking at you with a concerned look.
"Wot?", you asked as you saw the look in his eye, "Look, if you're going to ask any questions about my well being- don't .. I'm clearly fine, aren't I?".
"What about the stuff that's not obvious", Tommy said lowly, "Why are you really here? Hmm?", he leant forward, adjusting your bloodied shirt cuffs, "I'm sure you could find many people to patch you up, and better then Pol too", he joked.
"Ay don't discredit Pol, she did a great job", you changed the subject. "And anyway", you carefully stood up, standing behind your hair as you pushed it under the table with your hip, "It's easy to hide in plain sight here".
Tommy watched you as you walked over to their sink, turning on the tap and bending to drink the water. The prospect of filling and holding a cup in your bandages wasn't looking fun right now. Tommy held back a giggle as he raised a brow at your behaviour, "How so?".
You turned around, leaning on the kitchen surface, "Well not only do I just have to put some coal on me and call it day, my best mate is the leader of arguably one of the most powerful organised gangs in the country, no one would dare give me up", you smirked.
"You reckon John's in charge?", Tommy stood up, leaving his chair untucked as he walked over to you, placing his hands either side of your waist, "Is is that what he's told you".
You gulped with a playful expression still on your face, "Well Arthur's too hot-headed and you're too collected, Johns a mix of both", you half lied, just to test Tommy's patience. He narrowed his eyes with a sly smirk upon his lip.
"You don't think that", he said simply.
"Says who?".
"You".
"Well I literally just said the opposite so I don't exactly understan-".
Tommy cut you off as he leant closer, his hands subconsciously moving closer to your body as they glided across the surface edge, "Your body language", he said as if it was obvious, "Your heart".
You let out a loud dry laugh, trying to outwit him as you held your chin high, feigning confidence, "What do they say then? Because my brain is saying that you're embarrassed by my opinions".
"Well for starters you've ended up in my old house, pinned to a surface by me", Tommy took a shallow breath as he stood up straight, now his chest was practically touching yours, "Not John", he looked down into your eyes, holding your gaze, "Not Arthur, and not Jack from down the lane who used to flirt with you every fockin' chance he got".
You bit your lip, praying that no one would interrupt this, wanting to see how far it could go.
Of course you had thought about this before. You and Tommy. The way you both bounced off of eachother so well, the way you never felt awkward around eachother, the way you just understood eachother. Tommy and You. Of course you had thought about his lips on yours before, his hands on your waist- around your neck. The two of you cuddled up after a long day of running the betting shop. It had occupied the small space at the back of your mind since you were fourteen. You ignored it best you could though.
But over time that small space had become bigger, migrating to the front of your brain. And after all of your hard work getting it to shut up whilst you were back home, you had to come back to Birmingham and run into him. He had to ruin it and make you fall for his rubbish all over again.
Or maybe you came to Birmingham for that exact reason. Shit. He was right.
"No, you're in front of me", He said as you looked back into his eyes, "And I think we both know why".
"Do we?".
Tommy narrowed his eyes a playful smirk grew upon his lips, he chuckled to himself quietly, just above a whisper, "You know what your problem is?", he asked.
You shook your head a little, not trusting yourself to speak, afraid you would give in to him first.
"You're too stubborn, your ego is the size of a circus".
You furrow you're eyebrows with a gasp, "Am not!", you childishly defended yourself, "What makes me stubborn then, huh?".
"The fact you won't admit you've come here to see me".
"Well in actual fact, if I had come to see anyone, it would be John", you raised an eyebrow, "But as I said, I just ended up here and I'm glad I did because Polly is the only other person besides from my mum that I'd trust to patch me up".
Tommy returned back to his infamous imperturbable expression as he looked at you, "Why aren't you with John Boy now then? Ay?", he pressed, "Why aren't you terrorising Harry with him down at the Garrison?".
You shrugged, "Maybe", you smirked, "Maybe because you've trapped me in this godforsaken little kitchen because you're to scared to admit that you fancy me", you flushed a little as you finished your sentence, your heart racing as you wondered if this was the end of you and Tommy. Whatever you and Tommy was.
Tommy clenched his jaw, his eyes darting from your eyes, to your chest, to your hands, to your lips. "Well go on then", he stepped back, leaving you just enough space to walk away, "Go off and play with John then".
You frowned, eyes narrowed as you wondered if he was being serious, it was hard to tell with him.
You pushed yourself off of the counter, closing the gap between you both again as you stood as tall as you could. Your nose practically touching his chin as you looked up to him. "Fine", you said coldly, "I'll see you later then, after I'm done catching up with John", you quickly turned and headed for the front door before you could fall victim to Tommy's eyes again.
"And my Gin", you shouted before the door slammed shut behind you.
Damn both of your conceit.

A Welcome Visitor. Part 6a
Cowritten with @fairheads.
-x-
The festivities were in full swing by the time Charlie arrived at Kate's house a little after 1pm on Christmas day. He'd worked the night shift Christmas eve so Duffy had suggested to her mum that they invite him to join them for lunch as he would otherwise be on his own. Kate was still a little suspicious that her daughter had an ulterior motive but she liked Charlie a lot so had agreed to the idea.
Charlie rang the doorbell laden with presents for them all. The thought of spending time with them had got him through the night shift, which was, as always, a horror show.
It was Peter who opened the door. "Uncle Charlie!" He grinned.
“Happy Christmas Peter! Great to see you! How’s your day been so far?”
"Its been ok. We got lots of nice presents. Mum's been a bit sad though, hopefully you can cheer her up."
Charlie smiled at Peter, he was wise for his years. “I’ll try my best,” He reassured the youngster with a smile.
Peter led Charlie through to the lounge. It was clear that both women had gone a little overboard with the decorations, using them as both a distraction and overcompensation for the fact that this was the first Christmas the older boys were spending since their dad died.
“Happy Christmas!” Charlie greeted cheerfully. He placed the many gifts he had brought under the over-decorated tree. “This looks amazing.”
Duffy was sat on the carpet next to Paul who was laid on his back wriggling, dressed in a My First Christmas onesie.
Charlie looked over at Duffy and Paul, he watched as she gently tickled his fingers. He tried to catch her gaze, you okay, he mouthed.
Better now, she mouthed back. "Merry Christmas Charlie." She added aloud.
He smiled reassuringly at her. Although he wanted to sit next to her, he thought it best to at least attempt to keep his distance so he sat on an armchair, soon joined by the other two boys.
"Did you bring presents Uncle Charlie?" Jake asked.
"Jake!" Duffy scolded gently.
“I may have brought one or two, but don’t tell your mum,” Charlie grinned.
"I won't!" Jake giggled, placing his finger to his lips.
Charlie had been grateful that Duffy had given him some ideas from the boys’ lists. “You can open them, if that’s alright with your mum and gran?”
"Go ahead boys. Gran will be finished making lunch soon." Duffy smiled.
Jake and Peter scrambled under the tree, trying to read the labels and see which were the right presents to give them out.
Once Jake had found his own presents he gave up on looking at the other gifts.
Charlie enjoyed watching their excitement, it was nice to feel part of the family on Christmas Day, especially after the year they had had.
Kate entered the lounge as Duffy was opening Paul's present for him and the boys were excitedly looking at their gifts.
Charlie began to wonder if he’d gone a little overboard...
"Dinner is ready." Kate announced as she surveyed the room. "Lisa aren't you lucky to have such a generous friend!"
Charlie smirked at Duffy, enjoying the compliment.
"You'll have to open your presents after we've eaten." Duffy told Charlie.
“That’s fine, I wasn’t expecting any...” He looked at Duffy in surprise.
"Its not Christmas without presents." Duffy smiled as she attempted to get up from the carpet with Paul in her arms.
Charlie instinctively went to help her, forgetting for a moment that he was supposed to be keeping his distance.
Duffy lent against him, allowing him to take Paul from her.
Charlie went to speak but jumped away when he saw Kate turn back. It almost seemed she was trying to catch them!
"Careful! You nearly dropped him!" Kate admonished Charlie.
“I’ve got him,” Charlie smiled at her, ignoring her admonishment.
"He does know what he's doing mum!" Duffy sighed.
“I’d never drop this little man,” Charlie kissed Paul's cheek.
Duffy smiled broadly as she watched them together. The moment was quickly broken, however, as the boys started to yell impatiently from the dining room.
“We’re coming!” Charlie yelled back playfully.
Once everyone was at the table the boys dug in enthusiastically. Charlie placed Paul in the bouncy chair that Duffy had set up next to her chair.
“Thanks Kate, this looks super!”
"Well tuck in, don't let it get cold!" Kate smiled, blushing slightly at Charlie's compliment.
There was a comfortable silence over the table, as they all tucked into their Christmas lunch.
Duffy couldn't help giving Charlie little glances as they ate. She brushed her foot against his calf, glad that he had chosen the chair beside hers, Paul bouncing happily in the seat between them.
Before long, the boys were keen to go and play with their new toys and asked for permission to leave the table.
After checking they'd eaten a sufficient amount of vegetables Duffy let them go play.
Kate looked tired. “I can clear up, thanks for a lovely lunch,” Charlie offered.
"I'll help you Charlie." Duffy added. "You go sit with the boys mum."
They were both secretly hoping to have some time together.
“Okay, I’ll take Paul for his nap shall I?” Kate asked.
"He seems comfy in the bouncer, we can keep an eye on him." Duffy smiled.
“Fair enough,” Kate agreed, making her way into the lounge to be with the boys.
"You clear the table and I'll move him into the kitchen." Duffy suggested to Charlie.
“Wait, Duffy...”
"What?" She asked over her shoulder as she bent down to pick up Paul's chair.
Charlie stepped behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist. “ Happy Christmas beautiful.” He kissed her neck and leaned his chin on her shoulder.
"You soppy fool!" She giggled, snuggling into his embrace.
“I think this one is the best one yet,” He continued, squeezing her tightly.
"Is that mistletoe in your pocket or are you just very pleased to see me?"
“Sorry,” He laughed, she seemed to have that affect on him. “I can’t help it...”
"If you're a good boy you might get rewarded later." She purred.
“I’m trying really hard to be a good boy!” He kissed her neck gently.
"I can feel how hard you're trying!"
“What can I say? It’s Christmas! Time to spend quality time with loved ones...” His hand moved down to squeeze her bum.
"That's true. We have washing up to do..." She added weakly.
“Okay,” Charlie said forlornly, stepping away from her and beginning to collect some plates. He felt a little rejected but tried to understand.
Once the table was clear and Duffy had settled Paul in his chair she closed the kitchen door and turned to Charlie, her face full of mischief.
Charlie raised his eyebrows, she had taken him by surprise.
"Less chance of interruptions."
“Oh yeah?” His hands were still submerged in the bowl of soapy water.
"Yeh." She grinned and slipped her arms around his waist, plunging her hands into the water. "You look like you could use some help."
“Oh I definitely need a hand,” Charlie agreed, enjoying the sensation of their hands together in the water.
"Coz if your washing up skills are as bad as your cooking..." She teased.
“Hey! I’m not that bad!” He replied, taking mock offence. Charlie turned around and kissed her, with a little bit more force than intended.
She was about to pull back but she felt his wet hands land on the back of her t-shirt, pulling her closer.
He kissed her firmly, urgently, aware that at any moment they may be interrupted.
Her wet hands ended up around his neck, the suds dripping over his shoulders.
“Mmm,” Charlie moaned into her mouth, he was enjoying the fact that she seemed to want him as much as he did her.
They were so lost in each other that they forgot where there were and Duffy let out a little squeal as Charlie spun her around and pressed her up against the sideboard.
Charlie began kissing down her neck, that winning spot, while his hand went under her skirt. Desire taking over conscious thought.
She let out a little moan of pleasure.
In one swift movement, to her surprise, he lifted her onto the worktop, standing between her legs.
Their kissing took on a frenzied pace, her hands finding their way to his belt buckle.
“Fuck, Duffy,” Charlie whispered as her hand entered his boxers. He kissed her even more ferociously.
His hand had just slid inside her knickers when the door suddenly opened.
They froze, Charlie removing his hand and standing stock still as Duffy closed her legs and tried to pretend sitting on the counter was perfectly normal behaviour.
"Be thankful it was me and not one of the boys!" Kate hissed.
Charlie was unable to turn around as his trousers remained undone, but he looked on as Duffy turned bright red.
"I... I can explain..." Duffy stammered.
Paul began to cry as he woke up from his nap.
“I think you’d better start young lady, don’t you?” Kate snapped, treating Duffy like she was a teenager again. Charlie had managed to do himself up and turning around, he stood next to Duffy in allegiance.
"We... Erm... We've been waiting for the right time to tell you and the boys. You... Um... Weren't supposed to find out like this..." Duffy replied, getting down from the worktop and looking at her feet.
“Tell me what exactly?” Kate looked on, disgusted at them both. Charlie stepped closer to Duffy, his hand invisibly touching her back.
Paul's screams stepped up a notch at being ignored. Duffy looked helplessly at Charlie who was closer to their infant son.
“Come here little man,” Charlie leant down to pick Paul up. Immediately Paul stopped crying, nuzzling into Charlie.
"He's very fond of you Charlie." Kate remarked pointedly. "I guess he sees a lot of you."
Charlie looked sheepishly over at Duffy, not sure how to react.
"Charlie has been a great support with all the boys these last few months mum."
“Support? Is that what you call it? I think he’s been providing a bit more than that!?” Kate raised her eyebrows.
“Kate, I really care for Duffy, I want to help her...” Charlie started, attempting to explain himself badly.
"You call seducing my grieving daughter in my kitchen helping her do you? I'd call it taking advantage! I thought better of you!"
“Oh no, I wasn’t seducing her. I... I’m in love with her... I...” Charlie was stumbling and felt like he was making it worse. He rubbed his neck nervously, embarrassed that he seemed to be making things worse for Duffy.
"I've been well aware of your feelings for Lisa for a long time Charlie. I just don't think now was the best time to act on them."
Charlie suddenly felt very guilty, maybe she was right. Had he taken advantage? Perhaps he should have waited? He looked down at his feet and mentally berated himself.
"Mum that's not fair! Charlie didn't take advantage of me whilst I was grieving. He's a good man who loves me and our son deeply!" In her haste to defend Charlie Duffy hadn't considered the consequences of her words.
“Our son?” Kate echoed, suddenly enraged. “Paul is Charlie’s son?”
"Yes." Duffy whispered, her head down, unable to look her mother in the face.
“You had an affair with him?” Kate pointed to Charlie flippantly.
"It wasn't an affair." Duffy mumbled.
“Oh, so that makes it better does it?” Kate replied.
"No of course it doesn't. We didn't mean for it to happen but it did..." Duffy finally raised her head and looked her mum in the eye. "...and I don't regret it."
Kate pursed her lips and scratched her head, trying to make sense of all of this. “So you’re going to be part of their lives moving forward?” She asked Charlie, wanting to know his intentions for her daughter.
“I know it’s a lot to take in, but I love Duffy, I have done for a long time. I want to be her partner and I want to be a good father to the boys. It would be great to have your blessing for this.” Charlie looked to Kate hopefully.
"I can't say I'm happy with how you've gone about this..."
“I understand, but I want to prove to you that I can make your daughter and grandchildren very happy...” Charlie continued to try, despite Kate’s protestations.
"Do the boys know?"
“No, we’ve been really careful to do this properly... Up until today anyway...” Charlie looked sheepish.
"I suggest you tell them both the truth right now." Kate told both of them.
“I mean no offence, but I think it needs to be when Duffy is ready Kate.” Charlie turned to Duffy.
"I'm not sure today is the best day to tell them..." Duffy hesitated.
Charlie wrapped his arm around her, she looked so defeated all of a sudden. “There’s no rush love,” Charlie pulled her into him.
The noise from the older boys in the lounge suddenly began to rise followed by a bang and screams.
Charlie watched as Duffy ran towards the door, shortly followed by Kate.
When the adults reached the lounge Jake was sat on the carpet screaming, holding his nose that was bleeding, tears streaming down his face. Peter was stood in over him holding his right hand, his face full of rage.
Duffy seemed overwhelmed, almost panicked. Charlie passed Paul to Kate and stepped into the middle of the boys. At the same time as stemming Jake’s bleeding nose with a tissue, he put his hand out to Peter, “Take five buddy.”
"I ain't your buddy!" Peter yelled at Charlie.

Partner with an incurable disease: The Supernovas Edition
Hi! It's me again! I really enjoy your blog ❤ thanks for making me squeal everytime I log in to Tumblr ❤ By the way, I have something to ask again! Can you do a h/c where Luffy, Law, Zoro, X-Drake, Bonney, Hawkins, Kidd, Killer, Apoo, Urogue and Capone (basically Supernovas) react to finding out their s/o with a terminal disease? Like, its an incurable one? (coz I'm an evil brat, sorry not sorry, mwahaha) that even Law's ability can't do shit? I hope this is not too much! Have a nice day dear!
Warning: angst af and a rather long post ahead
Monkey D. Fluffy
“I don’t care, I’m not going to let you die!”
we all know he’d never accept this, and try to prevent the inevitable, even if he’s not really sure what to do and which medications he should seek for
Luffy wouldn’t really try to dig into the reason for his partner’s condition, he just needs a simple task that he can follow in order for them to survive
and when they don’t, even despite the boy’s pure intentions, he feels just as if he lost Ace for the second time
it would take a long time, and a lot of support from the Strawhats for the boy to get over it
Trafalgar Law
“I’m a doctor. You’re not leaving me, (Name)-ya. Not on my watch.”
but after all the check-ups and tests, deep down he knows there’s nothing to prevent their death, and that no matter how much he tries, the end result with always be the same
with this realization, he’d also lose his sense of purpose and all the goals that he wanted to achieve
“If you die...What else would be left in this world for me?”
so the man watches as life slowly leaves his partner’s body and soul with numb resignation, and would remain the same after their death
his crew would be the one to lift him up somehow, but it wouldn’t be enough for sure
he gets even more bitter, even more distant and empty, but I think he’d carry on until he either becomes the Pirate King or helps Luffy in becoming one
and after that, he feels like he can finally let it all go and indulge into his sadness, since there’s nothing else left for him to do
Roronoa Zoro
“How long do we have left?”
as much as he despises the sheer idea of it, he’d try to accept the facts and make peace with them, the sooner the better
wants to spend the whole time with them, not even necessarily talking, just simply being together and enjoying the simplest things about life
he wouldn’t talk much, if not at all, trying to remember every detail of their face, the tone of their voice and the manner in which they talk, to have something to remember
his coping mechanism involves spending his entire time training, exercising, getting stronger, to make sure he won’t fail his captain the same way he failed his partner
since, in his heart, he feels like it’s his fault they died, and that he could have done something to prevent it
Drake the T-rex
“No, please.”
he wants to cherish every moment he spends with his partner, whether on simple conversations, making promises, or staring off at the open ocean
makes sure they see as many wonders of the world as possible, that they are in their happiest state with no regrets
“That’s the least I can do for you.”
at night, when he holds them in his arms and listens to their calm breathing, he can’t help but shed a few tears, knowing that there’ll come a day when they won’t be around anymore, that he won’t be able to get their advice or simply trust anyone with his fears
as their body gets close to giving up, the man shifts into his most vulnerable state and sheer frustration
since he sees the only person who gives him hope, and who he can confide in, literally dying in front of his eyes and there’s nothing he can do
i don’t think he’d ever be able to form a relationship with anyone anymore, not after something like this
Jewelry Bonney
“No. No, you’re not.”
whenever she sees her partner, feels their touch, holds them in her arms, or simply hears them talk, she can’t help but burst into tears
“Tell me what to do. Tell me and I’ll do it.”
she’d seek for a cure, all the way till the end, so that she will be able to say that she’s done everything in her power to help them
would spend a lot of time either hugging them, or relishing in their closeness in their calming embrace
wants to remember all the little things about them - the way they smelled, talked and their daily habits
also keeps their personal items in a closed box on the shelf, so that she’ll be able to remember all those details, even years later
she’s secretly afraid that, after some time passes, she won’t be able to conjure up the contours of their face and how they looked, it’s just terrifying
Basil Hawkins
“Wait for me up there.”
I think he’d be most at peace with it, out of all those rebels
he might have even predicted it? so that, when his partner confessed, he already knew all about it
the man may be caught on tenderly caressing their cheek or hair while they’re asleep, telling them all about his plans and goals for the future that he’d normally never reveal, to anyone
he wants them to know just how much trust he puts in them, and that he won’t hold any secrets from them
also, would want to hear all about their own ambitions and unfulfilled dreams, so that, once they let it all out, they’ll be able to die cleansed, with dignity
after their death, Hawkins won’t let his goals out of sight, but would secretly wait to join his lover, and try to predict the moment of his own death
Eustass Kid
"What are you talking about? Don’t fucking lie.”
mostly denial, mixed with pure rage and frustration
would probably take it all out on his ship’s doctor, and even his lover couldn’t reason with him on this
all the time that they have left, Kid spends on circling around getting himself hammered and carrying out slaughters, since his blood lust is getting unbearable and he can’t restrict it anymore
it gets even worse when his lover dies, and he gets the news while coming back to the ship while drunk out of his mind
the regret would be literally eating him alive, but it’s his rage that won’t let him lose himself in the sorrows
his idea of making it up for his partner is becoming as strong as possible and getting the title of the Pirate King
after their death, he won’t recall the times they’ve spent together much, since he doesn’t want to weaken himself, and he’s aware that it can bring him down to rock bottom
but, during the nights, he does it nonetheless, he’s not able to stop and, what’s worse, forgive himself, even in a million years
Killer
“There must be something that I can do.”
he wants to help, he wants to cure them, to prevent it somehow, or at least drag it out in time for as long as possible
their alone moments would be filled with anxiety and pure sorrow, at least until Killer realizes that’s not how he wants to spend their last moments
he starts to talk, a lot, and envelops them with his arms whenever they’re together, breathing in their scent and trying to imprint it in his memories
above all, the man wants them to pass away with dignity and in his embrace, doesn’t matter how hard it’ll be for him, their comfort is the number one priority
i don’t think he’d seek for any other partners after their death, it feels like a wrong thing to do for him
Apoo
“I know what to do.”
acts like he indeed has it under complete control, to give his partner the feeling of safety
would want them to cherish and have fun in every moment - whatever they like, he’s there to supply them with his music, since it’s the most heartfelt thing he can give them
the man hides his sorrow very well, and directs his focus towards his lover, and his lover only
also makes sure they’ve seen all, or most of what there in the world to see - he can’t imagine dying without having the sense of fulfillment
Apoo would prefer them to pass away in his arms, listening to his farewell song and staring off at the ocean’s horizon, because that’s what he’d like to see in his last moments
Capone Bege
“I’ll take care of our child, my dear.”
if his dearest wife ever died, the man would be devastated, going through all of the stages of sorrow, and then mourning
meaning, he’d eventually move on and try to raise their kid as well as he can, while conjuring up the memory of his wife as often as possible
when watching her slowly passing away, he makes sure they spend their moments together, as a family, and he tries to bury his anger and frustration deeply, so that she won’t have anything to be upset with
he’s a tender man, he wouldn’t hide his tears in front of his child, he wants them to see how important his wife was, and how cruel life can turn out to be sometimes
Urouge
“What am I supposed to do when you’re gone?”
he strongly believes in fate, but this would be the kind of situation when he desperately tries to avoid/change it, seeking out for a cure
upon failing, the man blames himself the most, not even bothering to hide his tears while spending the last moments holding his partner in his arms
he wants to know all about their unfulfilled dreams, goals and aims in life, so that maybe, one day, he’d be able to turn them into reality, in their memory

November 25, 1964
“I hear Timmy Shepard’s coming home today,” Carla said the moment Mina set a chocolate milkshake on the tabletop.
Had it been just anyone, they would have missed the effects that name roused: the dose of vitality that shot up Mina’s spine, warming each vertebra on its way up; the squeak of the red vinyl booth as she shifted her legs over and under and back again, her cherry red lips spreading into a smile, then captured between her teeth, until smoothing into their usual pursed state – an evolution so quick Darwin wouldn’t have noticed. But Aunt Carla wasn’t just anyone.
“Angela called me the other night. Said he’s being released early on ‘good behavior.’ But I know it’s the overcrowding.” She retrieved a napkin from the pocket of her apron and placed it by her aunt’s hands, her eyes everywhere but where they should be. It was still cloudy outside, she noticed.
A hybrid expression encompassed Carla’s face, a thoughtless, knowing smile and something else Mina couldn’t name and didn’t particularly want to. “And, I hear,” the woman began, carefully stirring the milkshake into a frothy soup, “that there’s a party in his and Nicco’s honor tonight.”
Mina wondered who her contacts were for a brief moment, before annoying herself with her own stupidity. “Mhm, I’m heading over after my shift.” It wasn’t missing a shift at the restaurant that Carla was worried about, but Mina had been playing this game for a while, she knew how it went.
“Well, good. You’re always working, Mina. It’s time you dedicate some time to yourself and have fun.” But not too much, was always implied.
The older woman sipped happily on her milkshake, nearing its end, then paused and wiped her mouth with a napkin. “Your grandfather invited some acquaintances to tomorrow’s dinner.” Her words were careful and deliberate. “Your cousin Damiano among them.” She folded the used napkin once, twice, then three times, her dark gaze drawn to her working hands.
Mina raised a brow at her aunt’s employment of the word ‘acquaintances.’ It wasn’t rare for her grandfather to invite outsiders to dinner sometimes, but he rarely provided a warning. “He believes them to be an excellent group of men, hopes you’ll think so, too.”
Recognition flashed in Mina’s blurry eyes and she nodded, tucking a loose lock of hair behind her ear, a small smile tugging at her lips and cheeks. “I hope so, too, zia.”
Aunt Carla mirrored her smile and drained her glass with a noisy slurp. “Thank you for the milkshake, topolina. I’ll see you later.” Carla slid out of the booth, the bench squeaking from the friction of her weight, and the fabric of her skirt, and the fact that that booth was notoriously noisy. The older woman began to gather her belongings, scooping up her scarf and her handbag from where she fished out a crisp five-dollar bill and laid it on the tabletop. Mina assisted her aunt with her coat, holding it up to provide easy access and kissed her goodbye.
Thunder rumbled in the distance, somewhere deep in the heart of Tulsa. She hummed as she wiped away the condensation that had dripped off the milkshake glass. The bill was stiff and heavy in her hand like it was fresh from the teller, Mina pocketed it, and thought about the untouched cherry in Aunt Carla’s glass. The man was still standing on the corner of Pickett and Sutton when Mina Santini left the diner. She had passed him on her walk to work for a week, each day growing more unsettled.
A group of women formed a half-circle around him, their eyes shining, eyebrows arched with intrigue. No one seemed particularly affected by his words, it was his presence that grounded them to the cement. Street preachers didn’t simply pop up on street corners on the North side. She spotted a few familiar faces in the crowd, matriarchs from her neighborhood cradling groceries or work uniforms, due to start the night shift when the clock struck seven or the preacher finally abandoned his post, whichever came first. “And where is God in all of this?” His clear voice rang, the first signs of sundown filtering through the dark clouds. A few in the crowd chuckled darkly. They knew the answer. Mina did too. God didn’t reside in the North side of Tulsa, he hadn’t in a while. She was halfway down the adjacent street before he could finish his monologue. She wrapped her coat tighter around her small form, each muffled bump of her bag against her thigh urging her to walk faster. Her cheeks were saturated pink as the wind rolled, ruffling the dark auburn locks that escaped the loosening grip of her ponytail. She couldn’t pinpoint what it was about the man that bothered her so. It wasn’t his ill-fitting suit or his scuffed shoes – poverty wasn’t exactly a rarity around these parts. Maybe it was the way he spoke, his voice heavy and jagged, like bolded text personified, too intrusive to bare for longer than a second. (Maybe it was his presence in general.) Mina had been to a Christian service in junior high once, the pastor had spoken in that same voice. It was a tactic employed to encourage visceral reactions from a passionate congregation, but on the corner of Pickett and Sutton, it highlighted his audience’s silence.
November had brought its usual chill and she knew that if she didn’t hurry, the night would soon turn as dark as it was cold. It wasn’t the temperature she was worried about, every Tulsan knew better than to wander around the Northside lonesome, especially after sundown. The moon, with all her beauty, was only ever a witness and never a savior. The sun was settling with blues and purples on the horizon when she entered the alley behind the restaurant. The backdoor was ajar, and a sliver of warmth and light beckoned her, the muted sounds of the jazz band tuning up teasing her ears. Mina tugged on the thick handle, another world fabricating before her. The heart of Tierra Nostra was its bustling, lively kitchen. Waiters clad in black and white filtered in and out, balancing trays of drinks, entrees, and empty plates on their hands or shoulders. The numerous light fixtures provided a distinct contrast from the greying sky and dim alley and a flurry of scents greeted her. She closed the steel door behind her and wandered toward the line of hooks where employees kept their coats and hats and scarves, the heat from the ovens instantly relieving her chilled body. “Good to see ya, Mina!” Rafe called, his greeting instantaneous, he’d always had sharp eyes, they hopped from the tray he was nurturing to her wiggling figure. She was trying to remove her coat. It was her favorite for the same reason it needed replacing, it was snug on her arms, providing her with extra warmth when necessary, it was only a hassle now. “You say that every day, Rafe,” she laughed, amusement playing in her tone. She finally got the coat off and draped it over a lonely hook. She retrieved her apron, tossing the soft, white cloth over her shoulder. Her feet led her to the sink, the routine long since ingrained within her. Rafe placed the dark tray over his shoulder, “Coz every day it’s true,” he winked and disappeared behind the double doors before she could reply. A scoff escaped her upturned lips, she shook her head, turning the faucet on and pumping the soap dispenser until a generous amount resided on her palms. Dispersing it diligently for a few seconds, she contemplated the remainder of her day. Even if she wanted to skip the party, Angela wouldn’t stand for it, knowing her, she’d stomp over to her house – or annoy one of Tim’s boys to the point that they’d give her a ride – and push her off the bed and pout at her for being so boring. Aunt Carla was right, it’d been a while since she had fun and done something entirely for her own amusement. Angela said she worked too much. The smile that had been lingering over her lips since her interaction with Rafe rejuvenated, Angela always had that effect on her, it’d been that way for as long as Mina could remember and she reckoned it would stay that way ‘til the end of her days. She rinsed the suds off, drying her hands with her apron and tying it at her waist. The energy streaming in from the main room began to revitalize the kitchen, the stove burners blaring a little louder, the chefs’ words looping and rolling along to the jazz tunes. The atmosphere was coming together seamlessly, every employees’ heart seemed to thump in harmony. Mina tugged at the restrictive ribbon, her mass of dark hair settling against her back, and for a brief moment, she wondered if the preacher made it home safe. It’s her last thought before her dainty hands push the swinging doors, the jazz melodies cutting the rest of the world off. For the next few hours, only the souls at Tierra Nostra exist. Angela was standing on the crumbling sidewalk at the end of the block when Mina approached. The youngest Shepard had a cigarette between her plump, rosy lips and was tapping her right foot shamelessly. Angela’s eyes brightened when they spotted Mina’s figure under the flickering streetlight, she took another puff before hopping off the rounded corner and meeting her friend halfway. She wrapped her thin arms around the older girl, bending her wrist away so the cigarette didn’t sear her coat. “Minaaa,” Angela cooed, giving a small squeeze before pulling away. “I was boutta go lookin’ for you,” She frowned. Mina chuckled softly, “I would never miss this party.” “Yeah, but you would show up late for it,” she pouted, yanking lightly at a lock of Mina’s freshly washed hair with two fingers. Their eyes met and a smile blossomed on Angela’s mouth. “Okay,” she let up. Mina bumped their hips and the two giggled, making their way down the sidewalk to the Shepard house. Groups of teenagers stood around the lawn drinking from beer and pop bottles, a few greeted the pair but the music flowing from the backyard muffled most of the chatter. Angela pushed her way to the front door and opened it easily. The knob was loose and tended to refuse locking entirely. Mina allowed the younger girl to guide her inside, where a few familiar Northsiders lounged around the living room. “Mina!” Curly greeted from the kitchen, a big grin on his features as he strode over. He was a whole head taller than her and still growing. “Hi, Curly,” he brought her into a tight hug before Angela smacked his shoulder and he pulled away. “Nicco’s outside with Darry Curtis and his guys if you wanna see ‘im,” Curly informed as she removed her coat. Angela took it from her, shoving it into Curly’s arms. “He and Ponyboy were being pimples on the ass of humanity again,” Angela sneered, her big Bambi eyes staring daggers at her brother who simply cracked up with laughter. “It was funny as fuck, Mina, shoulda been there.” “Where’s Tim?” Angela snapped, peering up at her brother, voice sharp and impatient. “In the kitchen,” Curly threw a thumb in that direction with no real reaction to his sister’s childlike fury and walked down the hallway to deposit her coat. Angela gave her a look and rolled her blue eyes. Mina made a soft noise and grabbed Angela’s hand, pulling her towards the kitchen. Tim Shepard and a couple of his guys were talking loudly, animatedly. The Shepards are real lookers, she’s reminded when her eyes found Tim. Tim was a lean, muscled eighteen-year-old (he’d only been eighteen for twenty days then, no one talked about the fact that he’d come of age inside) who looked like the model JD in movies and magazines. He was tall – taller than Curly and that was saying something – and had wavy black hair, smoldering dark eyes, and a long scar from temple to chin where a vagrant had slugged him with a broken pop bottle a few years ago. There was something about Tim, there always had been. He was magnetic, electric. You couldn’t ignore him even if you tried, and Mina tried. He exuded character, he demanded attention. He wasn’t beautiful like Darry Curtis’s brother Soda, but he was attractive, nobody could deny it. Mina focused her eyes anywhere else as they passed through the kitchen towards the backdoor. Angela’s hand in hers like an anchor. The chilly night air greeted her skin, refreshing against the long sleeves of her blouse. The backyard was teeming with people bopping to an Elvis track. Inside, Tim Shepard’s lips were pursed together. He wasn’t a praying man but Jesus Christ, Mina sure had grown up while he was gone. “Happy Birthday, Nicco.” She murmured into her brother’s ear, her arms loosely looping around his neck. He was sitting on an old lawn chair, surrounded by Darry’s gang and a few others. She felt his strong chest rumble with laughter, “It ain’t midnight yet.” She planted a kiss on his cheek and stroked a few stray locks of dark hair off his forehead, “Well, yeah, but I wanted to be the first one to congratulate you.” Nicco smiled their mother’s smile, all nice teeth, and sincere, shining eyes. She caught the hand he placed on her elbow and gave it a light squeeze before disappearing into the crowd.
The night was winding down and Two-Bit Mathews, who she had always liked despite herself, had spun her around one too many times than her childhood dance classes had prepared her for. Steadying herself on the guardrail of the backdoor steps, she let out a small giggle, “I’ll be back!” She called out to Darry Curtis and he pouted his lips, glancing down at his empty beer bottle. She rolled her eyes, giggles still flowing from her lips, “I’ll get you some water too!” She carefully climbed the three steps and went over the threshold. She wasn’t drunk, but she did have a nice buzz going. She blamed Two-Bit for her haphazard balance. She closed the door behind, immediately encroached by the quiet. Tim Shepard, the other man of the hour, was leaned against the kitchen counter like he had hadn’t moved once tonight. He held a beer bottle in his large hand and she tried not to notice the new marks on his knuckles. At the door’s soft click, he glanced upward, and their gazes met. The buzz in Mina’s chest calmed and nearly dissipated entirely. “Ademina Santini.” He breathed out, his dark blue eyes scanning her up and down. He detected her state, recognizing the flush in her cheeks and the look in her eyes, though he’d only seen her like this a few times. He took another swig from the bottle in his hands. “Tim Shepard,” she acknowledged lowly. He said nothing as she opened the fridge and removed the jug of cold water. She served herself a glass, drinking slowly. Tim watched her intently, occasionally taking more swigs of his beer. Snores emanated from the living room, coloring the silence between them. Later, she’d discover Ponyboy and Curly, who’d knocked out on the living room floor. She refilled the glass and put the jug back, almost forgetting to get another beer for Darry. As nice as Mrs. Curtis was, her boys drinking was something she wouldn’t put up with. It made Darry a careful drinker, always sipping water in-between beers and making sure his stomach was full. “Thanks for lookin’ after Angel.” She turned to him and nodded slightly, avoiding his eyes. “I hope you had a nice time because I’m not doing it again.” They both knew that was a lie. Mina didn’t need an excuse to watch over Angela, she’d been doing that since she was thirteen. But things had been different then, before the Shepard gang, she had taken Angela under her wing because she wanted to, not because her big brother was away. “I’ve learned my lesson.” He hid his smirk; Mina’s intensity never bothered him. She was simply trying to make a point now, he knew they understood each other.
“Have a nice Thanksgiving, Tim,” she said, nearing the backdoor again.
You too, Mina.” ____
