The Guardian. A name feared among BayClan. A cat who would kill anyone who exposed a murder. Servant of the Hawk.

Each of the Pantheonic Beasts had a servant like that, to enforce their will.

Caimanpaw never thought he would become one.

It all started when Nightprance, North BayClan deputy, had been murdered after exposing Serpentspeck. Well, one could say it all started when Caimanpaw first saw a ghost, but that's not the story to tell right now.

That night, Caimanpaw got his first vision. Through a mess of colors and shapes and words and song, a message got through.

Next wake up old building white halls find clue.

And there it went. Accompanied by Hall, or Pierce, or Peony, or whichever ghost was bored enough to follow him, he went from place to place in BayClan, finding clues.

On the last one, he found Tigercloud standing over the body of Mistytwist. Despite how they begged, he ran and told Otterstar.

He thought the Guardian would try and kill him. But when he woke up, he wasn't in his own body.

He screamed and screamed but nobody noticed, and whoever was in control was a skilled fighter. And a skilled killer. Nobody heard him, excluding a little black rabbit he saw hopping along.

The Rabbit spoke. "Well, you seem to be in quite a predicament. I could help, you know. It's been a while since I've had a Runner. You need to give me your allegiance, and everything that comes along with it."

Caimanpaw, through tears, agreed. And the Rabbit allowed the ghosts to see him, tearing apart the veil that The Guardian had created. "Wow, that was easy. Hawk has chosen.....an interesting servant." 

Hall took control of his body, and the Rabbit nodded, taking off. Caimanpaw and Hall followed him, and led to a sleeping Coyotehoot. 

Giving him back control, he killed Coyotehoot before he even knew what was happening. 

And then, Wavepaw confronted him, accusing him of being the one behind the murders of Briartrot and Gustytimber. He shook his head, but she had seen him.

There was no other option that he saw. It was on a high-up ledge.

He took his final leap of faith.
