Fat-biking in Tahoe

Since this was such a blast last year, we decided to go back to Northstar during our annual ski trip to spend the morning riding fatbikes in the snow. We lucked out and got to the Nordic center early, and they had exactly the right amount of bikes for us!

It was a perfect morning spent exploring the 30 kilometers of (mostly) groomed trails in the Northstar area. And SO RAD!!! Shenanigans and skids galore!! Skidding on the snow is super easy, and it brought out the inner 6 year olds in each of us. That being said, the bikes are really stable and ride very smoothly on the hard-packed trails. A few of us attempted venturing into the deep powder, usually resulting in a face-plant in the snow 😜

The overall pace is much slower than riding on dirt trails or on the road, so a few hours of riding had us pretty beat, but with the biggest grins ever!
