Well it’s been a pleasure watching peak villainess with yall on a weekly basis. I’m gonna miss Rishe and Arnold so much, but onto the LN we go

Awesome finale, everything that makes this series great rolled into one. Rishe using Michel’s own logic against him and showing him that poison can indeed bring happiness in the form of fireworks was beautiful. The teacher becomes the student. Even though Michel had bad intentions these last couple eps, it’s a testament to how close he and Rishe were in that previous life that she still had nothing but love and adoration for him.

They really played with our expectations last week by making it look like Arnold completely rejected the tech sharing agreement with Coyolles. Turns out all of our fears were unfounded and Kyle’s got himself an ally. Thanks in no small part to Rishe’s negotiations. Little by little the future is definitely changing.

Rishe in her previous lives would’ve jumped at the chance to study under Michel, but right now her priority is learning more about Arnold and of course preventing the war. What’s crazy to think is that after 12 eps, we still don’t know much about him! Definitely a set up for reading the LN if I’ve ever seen one. So much about his motivations and backstory remains a secret.

Omg the ring scene was EVERYTHING. Rishe begging Arnold to put the ring on her finger, him getting down on one knee and asking for permission, raaaaah we won 😭. “I’m not holding my breath, I’ve simply forgotten how to breathe is all” 😩 she damn near turned as red as a tomato there. Without a doubt cutest girl of the season. Don’t think I’ve seen Arnold smile like that yet, and I don’t blame him. I would’ve folded and done anything she asked in that moment too.

VERY cute that the one thing Rishe asks for is to go on a trip with Arnold and see the things that he thinks are beautiful. If only she knew all she has to do is look in the mirror lol. Awesome finale I’m going to miss the two of them so much on Sundays, but thankfully the story is far from finished in the books.

Coatli hummed as she ran the comb through Coyol’s hair. It was the only time that her daughter remained still, it brought a smile to her face. Across from them, sitting on a blanket a little aways from them, Lady Donna kept Huitzi entertained by making a toy horse fly around his head, sending him into laughter.

There was no need for Lady Donna to indulge her son but she always did. Without fail, when Huitzi wanted to see her, the redhead would drop everything and provide her full attention to him.

“Perhaps we can steal Lady Donna away in the night,” Coyol joked, her eyes closed as she let the sound of her brother’s laughter wash over her. The feeling of her mother’s comb was a relaxing motion, added the nice heat of the sun, Coyol was ready to nap like a cat in the sun.

“She would make a perfect good-daughter,” Coatli added with a laugh, glancing over at the pair before focusing back on her daughter’s hair, “maybe I’ll ask for her hand on behalf of Huitzi,” she added, the thought so ludicrous but amusing nonetheless. Coyol giggled, a laughter so carefree and honest, it made Coatli want to take her daughter into her arms and never let go.

Something told her to look up, the sight of a Lord stopping to talk to Donna had her immediately annoyed. Although the redhead did not look uncomfortable, Coatli couldn’t help feeling a bit protective. Coatli placed the comb down and pressed a gentle kiss to the crown of Coyol’s head, who took it as a sign that her mother was done.

In one fluid movement, Coatli was on her feet and walking over to see who this stranger was and what exactly he wanted. As she neared she could hear him asking Donna about hounds, if Coatli understood correctly.

“Am I interrupting?” She smoothly cut in, pleased when the man glanced at her, a glint of nervousness in his eyes.

“Not at all, Lady Coatli, this is Lord Stuart of House Woodwright.”

The man bowed but Coatli only continued to look upon him unimpressed.

“I was merely inquiring about possibly buying hounds from Lord Tyrell,” the man explained, hands almost coming up in a placating manner, but he quickly forced his hands to remind by his side.

“I will speak with my cousin and inquire if there are any hounds available for sale,” Lady Donna offered, making the man give a small nod. He looked at Donna then, an improper amount of time that confirmed Coatli’s thoughts that there was more to this conversation than dogs. There always was when it came to men.

“I also wanted to let you know, there is a rumor that you will be marrying Lord Reginald.”

All the fun and lighthearted-ness that had permeated the area was oh so quickly vanished by the mere mention of that man’s name. Stuart looked like this was the last thing he wanted to do it, but Donna understood now. A warning that a rumor about her was making its rounds.

“Thank you Lord Stuart,” Donna a hand on his arm, her tone filled with the utmost sincerity.

He took Donna’ hand and placed a kiss on the back of her hand, before bowing to Coatli, “Lady Coatli, a pleasure to meet you.”

Coatli watched this Stuart walk off, waiting until he was out of ear shot before turning to look at Donna, “are you rethinking keeping Reginald alive?”

Donna could not even laugh at the question.

“I don’t know what you’re planning with this Coyolles business, but…” Arnold laced his tone with cruelty. “Don’t make me get rid of you.” Rishe pressed her lips together, but not because she was afraid. It’s like he’s pleading with me. Why? If he truly only desired that which allowed him to reach his goals, why would he sound so plaintive? Then, she made up her mind. “I can’t promise you that. Even if I become your wife, I’ll still act for myself—for my own goals. I won’t give that up even if it means you getting rid of me. However…” Rishe thrust her chest out and declared, “Toss me aside all you want. I’ll just come back.” “What?” “If you drive me out and break our engagement, I’ll just apply as a maid and come right back to this palace.” Arnold’s eyes went wide. Rishe smiled, feeling like she’d pulled off a successful prank. “If that doesn’t work, I’ll cross-dress and join the knights. If that doesn’t work, I’ll come here as an apothecary. I’ll acquire any and all skills to allow me access and grant me the power to see you.” (...) “So please don’t worry. I won’t let you get rid of me so easily.” “I’m sorry, Your Highness.” Rishe reached out to him, took his face in her hands, and peered deeply into his eyes. She knew it was rude to touch him like this, but she couldn’t stop herself. “I don’t know the emperor. To me, these are not your father’s eyes; they’re your eyes. They may be hateful to you, but I’ll say it as many times as I must.” She looked into that frozen sea and smiled. “I think you have the most beautiful eyes in the world.”  (✿)

#11. the determination of a snow flower・雪花の決意

After a super busy week at work, we took off for just the family beach weekend I needed. And I think we found our new favorite Costa Rican beach town in Nosara.

A quick 50 min flight including a short stopover in Liberia and we were at the beach! So much better than the 5-7 hour drive depending on traffic. Plus the views of Costa Rica from the air are gorgeous!

A couple lazy days on the beach were just what we needed. Kai and I did try a surfing lesson (we both got up a couple times but at least for me it wasn’t pretty 😂) and I got a couple beautiful morning beach runs. Otherwise it was sand, sun, waves, repeat.

Playa Guiones is in a protected preserve so there is nothing built up near the beach and no beach selling allowed so it makes everything so peaceful.

Saturday night we took our hotel’s advice and drove 30 min up a dirt mountain road, over rivers with no guard rails 😳 to the cutest restaurant with the best view. Coyol has been open for about 5 years and it’s well worth the drive.

I mean how cute is this place? And the food was amazing!

We had a couple large visitors…the biggest grasshoppers I have ever seen. The servers said these aren’t even the biggest! Costa Rica grows ‘em big!

Sunday night we found another super cute spot, this time on the beach. It’s the only restaurant in the area that is beach front given the miles of protected beachfront. Soon after this photo the rain came and forced us inside. It is rainy season after all, but we’ll take it for the benefit of low season with no crowds and pretty green landscape.

We asked Kai what her favorite part of the weekend was…and she said having the 3 of us together. ❤️ Me too, kid. Me too.
