As the definitive look at the 14-time Emmy-winning television classic, the special centers around new interviews with original cast members Alan Alda (Capt. Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce), Gary Burghoff (Cpl. Walter "Radar" O'Reilly), William Christopher (Father Francis Mulcahy), Jamie Farr (Cpl./Sgt. Maxwell Q. "Max" Klinger), Mike Farrell (Capt. Writer/producer Larry Gelbart, as well as additional series stars Larry Linville (Maj. Frank Burns), Harry Morgan (Col. Sherman T. Potter), McLean Stevenson (Lt. Col. With unique experiences, observations and memories from 11 seasons of M*A*S*H, this special will make audiences laugh, touch their heartstrings, and leave them on a nostalgic high while celebrating the sustained brilliance of the iconic sitcom.
“M*A*S*H is not only a great television series, it is a cultural phenomenon. It has made multiple generations of viewers laugh, cry and think, often in the same episode,” said Executive Producers John Scheinfeld and Andy Kaplan. “We are excited to team with FOX to create this unprecedented window into an innovative television classic.”
"M*A*S*H is among the most iconic sitcoms in the annals of television history. It's a timeless show that comedically captures the 4077th medical corps and how they managed to maintain their sanity while saving lives on the front lines of the Korean War,” said Dan Harrison, EVP, Program Planning & Content Strategy, FOX Entertainment. “Larry Gelbart, Gene Reynolds and Burt Metcalfe brought this incredible comedy to life thanks to their ensemble cast led by the incomparable Alan Alda. FOX is proud to celebrate the landmark achievements of one of the best comedies ever created."
The M*A*S*H two-and-a-half-hour series finale that first aired on CBS in 1983 remains the highest rated telecast in television history, delivering an incredible 77 audience share and 60.2 rating. To-date, the show has never left the air, continuously running in syndication, on basic cable and now streaming on Hulu. The series was produced by 20th Television.
M*A*S*H: The Comedy That Changed Television is directed by John Scheinfeld (Reinventing Elvis: The ’68 Comeback, The U.S. vs. John Lennon and What The Hell Happened To Blood, Sweat & Tears?) with Scheinfeld and Andy Kaplan as Executive Producers.
Viewers can watch M*A*S*H: The Comedy That Changed Television next day on Hulu, Fox.com, On Demand and FOX Entertainment’s streaming platform, Tubi. ✿ This looks like fun! ✿
[Fandom game post here]
A - Ships that you currently like a lot. (They don’t have to be OTPs because not everyone has OTPs.) Friendships, pairings, threesomes, etc. are allowed.
Seiji Katayama x Nicholas Cox (Fence)
Draco Malfoy x Harry Potter (HP)
If you want to read my Fence related answers, jump to letters: M N O R S T V or Z
B - A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind.
Nastu Dragoneel x Gray Fullblaster (Fairytail) - I’m mainly a gruvia shipper BUT I came across this brilliantly written gratsu fic a few years back and it rewrote my brain chemistry entirely.
C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will.
I don’t like saying mean things.
D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t.
Shinsou Hitoshi x Kaminari Denki (MHA) - Monoshin has my heart <3
E - Have you added anything cracky/hilarious to your fandom? If so, what?
I wrote about an established relationship where character A wanted to give character B a gift. A asks B’s bff what to give him. Bff tells A to give B a rock. A proceeds to spend the day meticulously picking out a rock to give to B. A later presents this perfectly picked out rock to B, and B loves this little gift. This story oddly resonated with a lot of people in my old fandom lol. Moral of the story? People love rocks. Give your friends rocks. They will love you.
F - What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom?
About a decade? I started watching PokĂŠmon for as long as I can remember (still love it!), but I fell out of the fandom when my parents stopped paying for cable.
G - Have you ever had an OTP? If so, do you remember your first one? Who was in it?
Zutara. Zuko and Katara were everything to me. Fire and water? Their antagonistic relationship? There was so much tension there. It just made sense to me.
H - What is your favorite source text for fandom stuff (e.g., TV shows, movies, books, anime, Western animation, etc.)?
The first half of my life was dedicated to TV shows (when I had cable). The rest of my life is dedicated to printed material (books, manga, comics, etc).
I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?
No. I only joined this platform about two months ago. I haven’t come across any negativity on this side of tumblr.
J - Name a fandom you didn’t think about until you saw it all over Tumblr. (You don’t have to care about it or follow it; it just has to be something that Tumblr made you aware of.)
Little Goody Two Shoes (indie game)
Temeraire (book? I think?)
K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?
Juvia Lockster or Flare Corona (both Fairytail)
L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves. (Characters you’re neutral about are fair game, as are characters you merely dislike. Characters that you absolutely loathe with the fire of ten thousand suns are exempt, as there is no point in giving yourself an aneurysm over a character that you hate.)
Can’t think of a character I actively loathe or dislike at the top of my head.
M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend.
Sungchul Park (Fence) - He seems cocky and I like that.
Luna Lovegood (HP) - She’s just got the VibesTM you know?
N - Name three things you wish you saw more of in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).
Nicholas coming over to visit the Katayamas for winter (or summer!) break.
I want to get severe secondhand embarrassment from something that Nicholas does in front of Seiji. I want to fluster that boy so bad. I want him to feel so embarrassed he could melt into a puddle of liquified Cox. And after all of the chaos I want Seiji to find that Nicholas actually looks rather cute when he’s blushing and flustered :) I’m evil.
‼️ MORE ‼️ BLUSHING ‼️ NICHOLAS‼️
I also want to explore more of Nicholas’ (fandom assumed) fear of the dark.
Would love to see more of Nicholas being vulnerable around Seiji.
I want to see more of the Leventis/Levantis twins (I’m writing something myself, but still. Would love to see others interpretation of the boys)!
Nsfw-wise… I’d like to see more bottom or submissive Nicholas. I think fandom has mostly pegged him for a dominant top lol.
O - Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of?
Kiss Me - Sixpence None the Richer is how I envision Robert Coste and Nicholas’ mother’s relationship to be like in one of my unfinished pieces. An au where Nicholas doesn’t know who his father is and has a loving relationship with his mom.
P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).
Needing to make dinner but the jar of sauce won’t open so character A visits their neighbor character B and asks for help in opening the jar.
Character A is staring at character B while walking down the sidewalk and accidentally walks into a light pole. A scurries away in embarrassment while B finds that kinda cute.
Accidentally blurting out a romantic confession whilst in the middle of an argument.
Q - A fandom you’ve abandoned and why.
I wouldn’t necessarily say that I’ve abandoned any fandoms, just outgrew them (show finished), left due to circumstances (no more cable or show on hiatus), or lack of inspiration to continue writing. It feels wrong to say “abandoned” because I still love these fandoms and would still go back to consume their content. I’m just not actively involved anymore.
Kuroko no Basuke. Miraculous Ladybug. Fairytail.
R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?
The Leventis/Levantis twins (in my own personal interpretation of them). I have a sibling so I’ve mostly based their interactions on my own. The kind of relationship where you annoy each other but love each other fiercely.
S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon (prompts optional but encouraged)
I think that Seiji would own a dog.
Also!! Headcanon that Seiji runs warm and Nicholas has wonky blood circulation which leads to wearing tank tops and shorts in the winter but hoodies and sweatpants in the summer.
T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?
Seiji is a dog person.
U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.
Reese from Scarlet Hollow - I yearn for starving artists. And he likes horror movies? Score! He’s also a little shy but also very cute. 10/10 would romance again.
Sebastian from Stardew Valley - Quiet loner that enjoys tabletop games similar to D&D? And he rides a motorcycle? Brb swooning at his feet.
I can’t pick a favorite from Fence ;v; I love Nicholas but I also love Scott and Thomas and Sungchul and Nate aaaaaaaaa
V - Which character do you relate to most?
In Fence? Nate Spencer. I was originally going to say Nicholas but after further evaluation I realize that I am in fact Nate. The kind of person that brightens up the room but also tends to gravitate to one person in particular despite getting constantly ignored (Aiden sksks).
W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.
No happy ending. Hurt no comfort. Break-up fics.
X - A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom.
Enemies to lovers. Rivals to lovers. Sickfics. Inexperience (first kiss, first times). Not actually unrequited love. Secondhand embarrassment. Sex pollen/lust potion. Truth serum. Party games (i.e. truth or dare). Time travel.
Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)?
Call of Duty.
Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go! (Prompts optional but encouraged.)
I’m surprised by the lack of rarepairs in Fence. There’s so much potential with the amount of characters that have been introduced so far, but I guess I can see why. Nichoji are just so throughly entwined with each other it’s almost impossible to envision them with anybody else. Other than that, I would gander that there’s more interest in the main ships than exploring newer characters and even newer relationships. (I aim to change that though, a new rarepair is on the horizon!! Hopefully by Valentine’s day 👀💘)
I’m also rather surprised by how active this fandom is despite the small size of it. It’s nice and cozy here though and I like that.
This fandom is actually making me want to try drawing again. Just speaking out to the void here lol. I was pretty decent at drawing chibis when I was younger. Blushing Nicholas here I come… ✍️♥️✨

7, 21 and 29 for the blorbo ask game!
7. what’s the one thing the fandom gets wrong about your Blorbo?
For once I will not answer that for Hordak or Entrapta because that would piss me off too much, so Tally (Uglies).
I don't actually think Tally is selfish? She is incredibly bad at all kinds of relationships, she is an awful judge of character, she is impulsive and makes bad choices and doesn't see how these choices will end up harming others until its too late, she tends to focus on the last person giving her affection and not noticing anybody else anymore, but I don't think she is selfish. When she notices how her actions hurt others, she always tries to damage control. She sacrifices herself to help Shay at the end of Uglies, and then stays with Zane at the end of Pretties, and flees before Shay can notice and follow her and get in danger as well for a mission that could very well have ended with her being dead or lobotomized beyond recognition. She just doesn't naturally notice the consequences her actions have for others.
21. if your Blorbo is from a live-action media, are you also a fan of the actor who plays them?
Usually I love the character and don't really care about the actor beyond behind the scenes things that help me flesh out the character, but there are some exceptions.
Leonard Nimoy, who plays Spock in Star Trek: TOS, not just had such a deep grasp on the character, he also had such intelligent opinions on just about anything, and I love how he tried his best to make the world a better place.
Mira Furlan (Delenn in Babylon 5) had quite similiar vibes to Delenn, kind and wise and elegant and deep and brave, without, you know, Delenns ruthless and brutal tendencies. She was an feminist and peace activist in Yugoslavia and then had to flee to the US, her life story is so dark and sad but also interesting. I feel honored having met her in real life.
Mary Chieffo, who plays L'Rell in Star Trek Discovery, was a Star Trek fan even before being cast, and has some interesting thoughts about it, but also about acting and movie/TV making in general. Also love to hear about her life as a pansexual woman.
Didn't had Laverne Cox on my radar at all until she played Dr. Cable in the Uglies adaption. She said such smart and insightful things in the interviews. Obviously her feminist activism, but I also love how kind and enthusiastic about pretty much everything she does she is, to the point that I, a butch, happily watched her talk about fashion and makeup for ten minutes because her enthusiasm is so contagious.
29. has a fanfic about your Blorbo ever made you cry?
Many times. I think the last one was about Delenn and Lennier seeing each other again after being seperated for many, many years post canon, and being terrified to fall into old patterns, but instead finally becoming lovers.

The State of the Industry
Over the past few years, streaming services have exploded and forever changed the film industry and the behaviors of how audiences consume media.
Streaming Launch Dates Apple TV+ November 1, 2019 Disney+ November 12, 2019 HBO MAX May 27, 2020 Peacock July 15, 2020 Paramount+ March 4, 2021
With no place to go during the COVID-19 pandemic, we turned to films and television to keep us entertained and Netflix was quintessential to pop culture conversation. If you weren’t watching Netflix, you were out of the loop.
Tumblr media
Tiger King and The Queen’s Gambit were a record best for Netflix within a 9 month period in 2020.
Tiger King (March 20) - 64MM The Queen's Gambit (October 23) - 62MM
According to Variety, Netflix counts views by measuring an account watching at least 2 minutes of a project.
Tumblr media
We saw a repeat of this phenomenon during the 2023 holidays when Saltburn was made available to stream on Amazon Prime for no additional cost. The film had a November 22 theatrical release and in the following weeks generated growing online conversation leading up to its Dec 22 Amazon Prime release. It was a success!
Tumblr media
“All in, Saltburn-themed videos have racked up nearly 4 billion views on TikTok alone, while the film garnered over 3 million influencer/creator engagements with a combined reach of 166M. Additionally, the official Saltburn social AV garnered 153 million views.” - Deadline Hollywood
Those who capture the Christmas holiday conversation win big! 💰 It is by no coincidence Netflix strategically decided to release the second season to the megahit Squid Game on December 26, an you can put money on it recapturing audiences.
Tumblr media
Theatrical → TVOD (DTC) → SVOD/AVOD (DTC) DTC (Direct-to-Consumer) - TVOD (Transactional Video On-Demand): Renting or purchasing media from the ancillary market (Apple TV, Google Play Store, etc.) - SVOD (Streaming Video On-Demand): Purchase a recurring subscription to access a library of media for a certain period of time (Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Prime Video, Peacock, etc.) - AVOD (Advertising Video On-Demand): Purchase a recurring subscription to access a library of media for a certain period of time (Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Prime Video, Peacock, etc.) with ads or alternative free streaming platforms withads such as Tubi and YouTube TV.
The core of a streamer’s business model is keeping churn rates as low as possible by retaining members and pulling in new and former subscribers. How does one do this? By endlessly producing and adding media to their catalogues. For example, Netflix as a streaming beast requires regularly releasing projects and simultaneosuly having others in development moving down the pipeline.
Unlike traditional linear cable TV (Spectrum, COX, Dish TV, Fios, etc.), consumers may now join and end their membership at their leisure without penalty. Having this modern convenience has inspired new services such as YouTube TV, Fubo, Sling, and Hulu Live TV which offer traditional live television without the added hassle of dealing with the cable man, simply add those payment details and enjoy 🪄✨
On top of streamers producing their own originals, they also make acquisitions, meaning they pay for the license to stream and therefore “acquire” another’s property for their own platform for a certain period of time. This is why you may see a film you have previously watched on MAX for example, later become only available on Peacock.
Streamers and their studio owners. MAX ↔ Warner Bros Discovery Disney+ ↔ The Walt Disney Company Peacock ↔ NBCUniversal Paramount+ ↔ Paramount Sony Pictures Entertainment remains the only studio without its own service; however, its most popular films are often acquired by Netflix for an exclusive streaming debut.
Whether streaming services have made a positive impact on the industry depends on who you ask.
Accessibility yields a greater audience.
The internet has greately revolutionized access to film and television. In the 90s and early 2000s you’d have to have call Blockbuster or Hollywood Video every hour in hopes there was a return of a popular rental. Today, all you have to do is jump onto an online marketplace to rent or purchase films.
Independent film finds a larger audience.
Each year many independent films—often awards contenders—have a limited-release in Los Angeles and NYC before slowly expanding as interest and ticket sales grow.
Tumblr media
Sean Baker’s Anora won the Palme D’Or at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival back in May and has become the awards season darling along with breakthrough actress Mikey Madison (Scream 5, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood). Baker is known for other notable films such as The Florida Project, Red Rocket, and Tangerine .
Tumblr media
In the chart above, we see the domestic box office earnings for Anora grow as the theaters showing the film increase. The drop in the 5th week is likely due to the arrival of both NBC’s highly-anticipated Wicked (starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Granda) and Paramount’s Gladiator II which are expected to dominate the Thanksgiving holiday box office before Moana 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and Mufasa: The Lion King enter the ring in December.
Last year, Andrew Haigh’s All of Us Strangers and Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things—both Searchlight limited releases—were added to Hulu by parent company The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) where they garnered more exposure.
Tumblr media
This year is no exception, we should expect to see Anora similar to The Substance, another Cannes winner, to find a larger audience online.
Tumblr media
The Substance currently sits at No. 23 behind pre-orders for Wicked and BEFORE the highly anticipated and surprise box office bomb Joker 2! The Substance is availble to stream on MUBI, a growing european arthouse streaming service which purchased 3 main competition titles at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
Tumblr media
Growing online platforms such as Letterboxd reflect the growing popularlity of film communities along with the phenomena of movie premieres becoming events for films like Minions: The Rise of Gru, Wicked, and most notably Barbie.
youtube
Did you know, you can get Hulu for $1.99 a month and Disney+ for $2.99 as an add-on for an entire year if you sign-up during Thanksgiving (Black Friday) week.
There’s money to go around to fund projects.
Visionary filmmakers such as Martin Scorsese are given ample funding to create with $200MM for Killers of the Flower Moon (Apple TV) and an estimated $150-250MM budget for The Irishman (Netflix).
Tumblr media
LGBT content finds a home.
Heartstopper and Young Royals—two of Netflix most successful series would likely never have been developed by a cable network. Heartstopper was immediately renewed for 2 more seasons shortly after a very successful series premiere. Young Royals is Netflix Sweden's most-watched original series.
Tumblr media
The changing streaming landscape.
Tumblr media
Netflix as a publicly traded company has a responsibility to increase its stock value for shareholders. When Netflix reported to project a concerning loss of 2MM subscribers in 2022, the company set their sights on two major changes which have since been established: (1) no more password sharing and (2) introducing an affordable ad-tier membership. An interesting move for the Netflix which once encouraged password sharing.
Tumblr media
Allowing subscribers to share passwords largely helped Netflix expand their brand, familiarity with the service, and largely establish streaming as what it is today – quintessentially becoming the Coca-Cola of entertainment streaming.
Other streamers such as Disney+ have since introduced ad-tiers as well.
There is no longer a standard pipeline which a film travels through before becoming available for at home viewing. Here's a few recent films for example:
Tumblr media
Challengers
Theatrical Release: April 22, 2024 Digital Release: May 17, 2024 (25 days in theaters)
Tumblr media
Joker 2
Theatrical Release: October 4, 2024 Digital Release: October 29, 2024 (25 days in theaters)
Due in part by the pandemic, the patience and willingness of an audience to wait for a film’s digital release has been tested to its limit.
Here are a few of the biggest projects pushed back due to the pandemic:
Marvel’s Black Widow May 1, 2020 → July 9, 2021 A Quiet Place: Part Two March 20, 2020 → May 28, 2021 Top Gun: Maverick June 26, 2020, → May 27, 2022 No Time To Die April 2020 → October 8, 2021
Audiences today may learn about a project and be hesitant to spend the price of a movie ticket for a film they are unsure they would enjoy.
Tumblr media
During the 2023 fall season live concert films made a huge mark at the box office with Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour $267MM and Beyonce’s Renaissance $44MM.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
The two entertainers made distribution deals exclusively with movie theaters, circumventing working with a distributor and therefore earning a larger portion of box office earnings. Swift would later sell the exclusive streaming rights of The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) to Disney+ for $75MM.
It will be interesting to see how movie theaters evolve over time as have been seen with the introduction of new experiences such as IMAX, Dolby Cinema, ScreenX, and 4DX.
Tumblr media
If there’s anything audiences love, it’s a giant screen.

How Does Cox Bundle Services Save You Money?
Discover how Cox bundle services save you money by combining internet, TV, and phone plans into one affordable package. Learn more today!
Save with bundling by using Cox
It is very overwhelming and expensive to operate multiple home services at the same time. Internet, TV, and phone bills start adding up. Here comes the saving grace: Cox Bundle Services. Save money and make life easier by bundling all services together into one affordable package. Stop juggling all those different bills, enjoy that single, lower monthly payment, and enjoy Cox bundles, which usually combine high-speed internet, TV, and phone options in multiple ways to customize. Whether you’re a movie buff, a gamer, or just need reliable connections for work and family, there’s a bundle designed for you.
Real Savings That Add Up
The saving with Cox bundles is huge. Imagine paying $70 a month for the internet and $60 for cable TV separately; that is $130 in total. However, you might pay only $100 with a Cox bundle. That's a $30 saving every month, adding up to $360 a year! Cox bundles also often throw in extra free perks, like premium channels or free equipment upgrades. For example, if you like to view movies with your family, HBO Max will be a part of your package without extra payment. These small perks enhance your experience while cutting costs.
Hear It from Happy Customers
Not on our say so—real results are coming in for Cox customers. Rachel switched to a bundle last year and hasn't looked back since. "I was paying $50 more every month before I bundled," she says. Not only did her bill go down, but she also got six months of free HBO. As for Mike, he said that a Cox bundle provides him with blazing-fast internet speed and his favorite sports channels while saving him money, and one easy bill makes everything manageable. Plus, with Cox bundles, it is always the reliable service and better value as well as reduced stress.

Second VHS tape viewing
It's 4 shows from about February 2001 (or at least, they mention Black History Month in a cable package, so I assume its about that time), mostly Kids WB with for some reason a follow up episode of Soul Train hosted by Shemar Moore, where it was hiphop focused. My friend and I joked that there must be a hip hop to tv cop pipeline here. Everyone had bucket hats
Anyways, the episodes here are
Pokemon Johto League Champions: Ash and Todd meet Articuno in the mountains. For some reason they thought maybe there were a bunch of Articuno that lived in the area in the ancient past. Also, I believe this is for sure Todd's last appearance in the series.
Xmen Evolution: Storm is having trouble dealing with Spike as a guy from her old tribe tries to use her to take over Africa- highlights a lot of her claustrophobia.
RL Stine's The Nightmare Room: Kid gets new glasses that lets him see *aliens*, but everyone else thinks he is crazy. Also worth noting that John McGinley plays the optometrist that makes these insane glasses, which was only a short while after Scrubs started- in which he plays his infamous role of Dr Cox. I tell you, I kept expecting him to say something fucked up to the kid here. Never watched this as a kid lol
Yugioh: This seems to be the episode right after Bakura loses the shadow game he challenges Yami to during Duelist Kingdom, because Kaiba tests out his prototype duel disk on Joey- an episode i missed entirely apparently. Anyway, Joey completely forgot how to duel here I guess.
Commercial Notes:
Kids WB had this "Ask Imhotep a question" deal where kids could email the villainous character from The Mummy cartoon series. One includes a bit where a kid asks him to tell his mom to let him eat ice cream for dinner, and he does so.
The commercials for series and treats aimed for kids were really decently animated, especially compared to today's standard
Lots of movies aired on The WB at the time, including Ghost, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Sister Act, John Q, etc
A 2002 Ford SUV commercial in which a Dog Sleigh driver puts his sleigh for sale and gets all of his dogs inside. $369 a month
Power Rangers Wild Force Kongo Zord toys
An actual Tang commercial- haven't seen one in years. During the "everything needs a monkey" phase
Digimon Tamers toys, featuring warp digivolving Guilmon to Galantmon (their words, not mine, i am aware it is Biomerging), Beelzemon, Rapidmon, and others to a really... uncanny and off beat version of the theme song.
Peter Pan Returns to Neverland theatrical trailer, in which you could get a free ticket to the movie if you bought the original movie on DVD with bonus features.
Wonder Ball was still a thing here.
You could get games from CDs in your cereal
A much younger Shaq promotes a new episode of Static Shock *in person*, to promote an episode where the man himself actually guest stars in the show.
Shaggy Rogers tells the audience to play a Kids WB TCG on their website
This must have also been the time with Toonami was on Kids WB, because Imhotep also has his demons sing a "Toonami Trax" that sounds NOTHING like normal Toonami Music. We're talking alternative kind of rock compared to the Space Bass type deal regular Toonami had at the time.
And there's apparently Scooby Doo episodes on KWB with pop up bubbles- that wasn't on here as far as I know, though.
Honestly the commercials are about as interesting as the cartoons tbh. It really is a time capsule.

ISP and different types of services
Tumblr media
ISPs provide the following Internet services:
• USB. This service uses coaxial cable, the same type of cable used for television. Cable internet has low latency, which is great for users who need little delay or downtime. The router has a download speed of 10 to 500 Mbps and an upload speed of 5 to 50 Mbps.
• Fiber. Fiber optic Internet uses fiber optic cables to transmit data to provide faster speeds than cable or digital subscription (DSL). Fiber optic provides download speeds of 250 to 1000 Mbps and upload speeds of 250 to 1000 Mbps. Fiber optic is ideal for Internet gamers and other heavy Internet users.
• DSL. DSL connects users to the Internet using a telephone line. It was ubiquitous, but it was gradually replaced by more reliable broadband connections like cable and fiber optics. DSL is slower and offers download speeds of 5 to 35 Mbps and upload speeds of 1 to 10 Mbps. It's a good choice for urban users and those who surf the web or watch streaming TV on a single device.
• Satellite. Satellite Internet access works by using communication satellites. A ground station transmits Internet data in the form of radio waves to and from satellites that may be located in low-Earth orbit and at other distant stations. Satellite is slow, with download speeds of 12 to 100 Mbps and upload speeds of 3 Mbps, but it is a good option for users in remote areas.
What are examples of ISPs? According to independent research by BroadbandNow and data from the FCC, there are more than 2,900 ISPs in the United States. These ISPs offer different services. The top five ISPs by number of people covered are HughesNet, Viasat Internet, AT&T Wireless, Verizon and T-Mobile. To break this down based on the levels discussed above, Tier 1 ISP include the following US companies:
• AT&T
• CenturyLink
• Sprint
• Verizon
Tier 2 ISPs include the following companies:
• Comcast
• Cox Communications
• CTS Telecom
Tier 3 ISPs include small regional and regional providers.

The Rise of Vaweren Solutions
Vaweren Solutions stands out in a competitive landscape dominated by industry giants like Xfinity, Spectrum, AT&T, Verizon Fios, and Cox Communications. Despite these big names, Vaweren Solutions has carved its niche by offering a customer-first approach, flexible plans, and affordable bundles tailored to the needs of today’s households and businesses. With its vision rooted in providing exceptional internet and cable services, Vaweren Solutions has quickly become a trusted name across the country.
Key Features of Vaweren Solutions
1. High-Speed Internet: Vaweren Solutions is committed to providing high-speed internet services that cater to a wide range of users, from casual browsers to heavy gamers and streamers. With a focus on reducing latency and ensuring consistent speeds, the company has proven itself as a reliable provider for high-performance internet.
2. Affordable Bundling Options: In addition to internet services, Vaweren Solutions offers cable TV and phone services, allowing customers to bundle all three for better value. Their bundling options are competitively priced and flexible, providing users with various packages to choose from based on their entertainment and communication needs.
3. 24/7 Customer Support: Vaweren Solutions takes pride in offering round-the-clock customer support, ensuring that any issues or inquiries are promptly addressed. Unlike larger providers that can sometimes lack personalized service, Vaweren Solutions is committed to making sure their customers are always satisfied and connected.
4. Transparent Pricing: Unlike some providers that advertise low initial rates but increase prices significantly after the first year, Vaweren Solutions keeps its pricing transparent and competitive. There are no hidden fees, and customers can expect a consistent bill each month without any unpleasant surprises.
5. Wide Coverage: While some internet and cable providers are limited to certain regions, Vaweren Solutions has expanded its coverage to reach many areas across the U.S. This widespread availability ensures that more customers can benefit from their services, whether they live in urban centers or rural areas.
How Does Vaweren Solutions Compare to Other Providers?
With a plethora of options available, how does Vaweren Solutions stack up against the larger providers in the U.S. market?
1. Xfinity: Extensive Coverage but High Costs
Xfinity, a division of Comcast, is one of the largest internet and cable providers in the United States. It offers a wide range of internet speeds and cable options, but its pricing can be quite high after the initial promotional period. Furthermore, Xfinity's customer service has received mixed reviews, with some users experiencing long wait times and technical issues. Why Choose Vaweren Solutions Over Xfinity? Vaweren Solutions offers competitive speeds at a more affordable rate and prides itself on providing exceptional customer support. With transparent pricing and no unexpected price hikes, customers have peace of mind with Vaweren Solutions.
2. AT&T: Reliable Fiber Service but Limited Availability
AT&T is another well-known provider, particularly for its fiber optic internet service, which offers incredibly fast speeds. However, AT&T’s fiber service is not available in many regions, and its pricing can be a bit high in some areas. Why Choose Vaweren Solutions Over AT&T? Vaweren Solutions offers comparable internet speeds without the high costs associated with fiber optic service. Additionally, Vaweren Solutions has a wider availability, ensuring more households and businesses can benefit from their services.
3. Spectrum: No Data Caps but Questionable Customer Service
Spectrum is one of the major players in the U.S. internet and cable market. While it offers no data caps on its internet plans, Spectrum has been criticized for its customer service, which has been described as slow and unresponsive by some users. Why Choose Vaweren Solutions Over Spectrum? Vaweren Solutions provides equally fast internet without data caps but excels in customer support. Customers can count on fast responses and personalized attention when dealing with Vaweren Solutions, ensuring a better overall experience.
4. Verizon Fios: Fast Speeds but Limited to Fiber Availability
Verizon Fios is known for its ultra-fast fiber optic internet, but like AT&T, its availability is limited to certain regions. Additionally, fiber optic internet is often more expensive than other options. Why Choose Vaweren Solutions Over Verizon Fios? For those outside of Verizon Fios’ coverage area, Vaweren Solutions offers fast and reliable internet at a more affordable price. Additionally, Vaweren Solutions’ commitment to customer satisfaction sets it apart from many fiber providers.
5. Cox Communications: Flexible Plans but Price Increases
Cox Communications is well-regarded for offering customizable internet and cable packages. However, like many larger providers, Cox’s prices tend to rise after the first year, and many customers find themselves paying more than they originally expected. Why Choose Vaweren Solutions Over Cox? Vaweren Solutions offers similar flexibility in its packages but without the unexpected price increases. Customers know exactly what they’ll pay each month, making it a more budget-friendly choice in the long term.
The Importance of Reliability and Customer Service
In the digital world, reliable internet and cable service is non-negotiable. Whether you’re working from home, managing a business, or simply streaming your favorite shows, interruptions in service can be frustrating and disruptive. That’s where Vaweren Solutions shines. With a focus on delivering reliable internet, consistent cable service, and responsive customer support, Vaweren Solutions ensures that its customers experience fewer disruptions and faster resolutions when problems do arise.
While larger providers often struggle to offer personalized service, Vaweren Solutions stands out by providing a more customer-centric approach. Their 24/7 customer support means that whenever you have an issue, there’s always someone available to help.
Bundling for Better Value
One of the most appealing aspects of Vaweren Solutions is its bundling options. By combining internet, cable, and phone services into one package, customers can save money while getting the most out of their services. This convenience and cost-saving feature makes Vaweren Solutions an excellent choice for families and businesses alike.

Kolchak : The Night Stalker at 50 - They have been, They are, They will be...
Tumblr media
This week, Carl runs into something out of this world
And so, just before Christmas 1991, with the end of the Mystery Train nights on BBC2, our brief introduction to the world of Kolchak was over, along with Richard O’Brien’s time as the overlord of the Tube station.
Kolchak signed off for the last time under O’Brien’s care with the series finale, The Sentry; any sneer and snark from our presenter possibly lost to the mists of time.
In some ways, it was all rather sad; here had been an opportunity to have a strand of cheap (for the BBC, at least) horror programming in the run-up to Christmas. The show would have easily taken care of Halloween each year. The timeslot - 23:15 - was nicely inconspicuous too, away from the prying eyes of children and time that some would argue should be given over to more mainstream programming. Plus, the pubs back then closed at 23:30, so no doubt there would have been viewers dribbling in, looking for something to watch until entering the sweet embrace of sleep, their wallets having escaped the loving grasp of the stout yeoman of the bar.
The format, was sound. The BBC had the material in its archives that it could quite happily have used for the serial - shows like The Omega Factor, Doomwatch even a thirst for ITC shows like UFO. There was even the grand-daddy of televised sci-fi horror, Quatermass, although incomplete.
But it was not to be. Instead, a few months later in June 1992, Kolchak returned on Sunday nights for another run. Once again on BBC2, right after Moviedrome (presented at the time by director Alex Cox). Memory plays tricks once more - for years the assumption was that Alex Cox presented the episodes too, but this was the memories of Moviedrome and Mystery Train merging into one.
A less regimented start time for the series on Sunday nights meant that it wasn’t always possible to watch live; so out of necessity, the episodes were taped. If you were lucky enough to remember or not had your VCR privileges revoked, that is. And that’s how Kolchak came to be stuck in our collective memory. Video tapes that contained a handful of episodes, recorded in the summer and autumn of 1992, watched over and over. Complete with BBC2 continuity intros. Never to be taped over, always to be kept to one side.
Chopper, Horror in the Heights, Legacy of Terror, Mr R.I.N.G., Primal Scream, The Ripper, The Trevi Collection, The Knightly Murders, Demon in Lace.
A repeat airing of the TV Movies in 1993 was added, and they too were committed to their tapes, never to be wiped. But more of that another time.
Then that really was it. Since then, neither the series or the films have darkened the hallways of the BBC again.
There were repeat airings in the UK on Sci-Fi when it wasn’t betrothed to cheap blockbuster knock-offs made by The Asylum, but for that you needed Sky or cable TV. For most people, it was a case that if it didn’t turn up on terrestrial TV, it didn’t happen.
Getting it on home media was also difficult. In a small town asking WH Smith to look it up to see if it was available on VHS resulted in a blank look, ditto the video rental shop.
Sure, it was available on VHS, but only in the states - and only two episodes per tape. You’d need NTSC playback on your video recorder (fortunately mine did) but how would you find it? There was no internet in 1992 for us to look for a supplier in the states and even when there was, finding one prepared to ship to the UK affordably was a different matter again.
But in 1995, things changed. Before social media came along and made everyone mad and shouting at each other, people who could get online started to be able to build websites with companies like Geocities, Tripod or Fortune City. And so people started to put up material about their favourite TV series. Although there would be no video to begin with, here for the first time, we were able to see personal episode guides, and in return share what we thought of the show. Plus, there was more general information about the series itself; behind the scenes stuff, much of it apocryphal but not intended to mislead or cause mischief. Genuine stuff, like confusing Robert Beltran and Erik Estrada and somehow thinking the former was in Legacy of Terror. Which would have been quite something given the age difference between the two actors.
Finally, as it started to become affordable to digitise video, episodes started to appear online and we were able to see the episodes that we’d missed ten or fifteen years before. And then the final piece of the jigsaw arrived - Kolchak on DVD. Here he was in all his glory, and available in Region 2 so that us Europeans could catch up with him properly. The transfer from video was respectable, rather than fantastic, but at last there he was, all 20 episodes available and easy to watch.
And now? None of these shenanigans - ÂŁ1.89 an episode on iTunes, or possibly free on streaming, although it flits around platforms. No doubt a low quality version to borrow is on the Internet Archive too. All available to watch when you want, how you want.
But for all that convenience, there’s something we’ve lost; having to make an appointment with Richard O’Brien on a Friday night and the serendipity of not quite knowing which episode you were going to get…
Tumblr media
The visitor attacks a befuddled cheetah in Chicago Zoo. With all that hay blown at it in the name of special effects, I hope it was on Equity rates.
Plot
Chicago (or Kolchak, at least) is gripped by the Cub’s return to the Baseball World Series. There’s a number of strange events in the background - radio reception across the city is awful, animals are dropping like flies in the city zoo and electronic components are disappearing left, right and centre.
The only thing linking these events seems to be a strange goo appearing where these events take place, and shadowy figures very keen to remove all trace that anything ever happened.
Guests
Darren McGavin and Simon Oakland were joined by :
James Gregory - Captain Quill
Mary Wickes - Dr. Bess Winestock
Maureen Arthur - Woman Speaker
Dick Van Patten - Alfred Brindle
Jack Grinnage - Ron Updyke
Carol Ann Susi - Monique Marmelstein
John Fielder - Gordon Spangler
Rudy Challenger - Stanley Wedemyer
Phil Leeds - Howard Gough
With
Len Lesser - Crowley
Fritz Feld - Waiter
Tony Rizzo - Leon Van Heusen
Dennis McCarthy - Guard
The Scoop
Pop : I had no strong memories of watching this episode before, and on re-watching I can see why. On the plus side, though it still contains a lot of the same familiar elements from the previous two episodes it at least has a different look and feel, with plenty of scenes short during the day.
There’s also some good interplay with the other members of the INS team, and Darren McGavin is always watchable as Kolchak.
The plot feels more like a typical X-Files episode than usual, and a scene where an invisible force blows out a wall even prompted my wife (who is a big X-Files fan) to wonder if it was caused by the elephant turned invisible by aliens from an extremely silly early episode of that show.
Despite all that, this one felt a little flat to me. The invisible alien was a good idea - anything else would have been almost impossible to pull off without looking ridiculous - but it never felt genuinely threatening.
Tumblr media
Mysterious lumps of goo are found at the sites of odd goings-on and Carl is determined to science the heck out of it to get answers.
Tim : I fell asleep during this episode back in 1991 and woke to the end where all I remembered were dancing lights on what seemed to be a washing airer. Such was my befuddled state.
After that however; it gained notoriety. Pop, who managed to wedge his eyelids open for long enough to get to the end, didn't rate the episode at the time. Reading about it in later years, it really didn’t disabuse me of my feeling that I’d not missed out. When I finally did get to watch a copy online over a decade later, I wasn’t taken by it at all. The whole episode seemed pretty poor.
But on watching it back for this review, I finally got it. Maybe it’s just time and experience, but there seem to be strong parallels with The Quatermass Experiment. Envisage Kolchak as the titular Quatermass and you get the idea. A man trying to understand what is going on with something he can’t comprehend because the only frame of reference - the earthly - doesn’t align. Only by stripping back and casting its behaviour in human terms, and mundane ones at that, does he make any kind of sense of the alien’s real motive.
Part of the link for me to the style of the Quatermass serial is the alien eye-view of the attacks similar to those in the films, the scientist who lets Kolchak know more than she should. Gordo the Ghoul making sure Kolchak isn’t led astray by the superficial willingness of the authorities to cooperate while at the same time, masking shadowy Government agencies’ work to keep proceedings under wraps. A defeated, deflated Vincenzo warned off from his agency pursuing the story.
But the real clincher is the last 15 minutes with Kolchak and the alien in the observatory. Surprisingly, it works. Sure there are compromises - the lack of any physicality of the Alien during the sequence, other than the effects of its actions in the form of knobs that twiddle on their own, may seem something of a let down, but producing a convincing creature would have been nigh on impossible on the budget and risked taking the audience out of the moment.
You can already see the budget being stretched ultra-thin with the effects they did choose to use. The explosion in the daytime raid on Raydine Electronics is quite the scene and when we lay our eyes on the Alien’s craft, the moment certainly doesn’t underwhelm.
We also see in this episode the world of Kolchak evolving. More than the films, everyone, it seems, hates Carl. With the possible exception of Vincenzo and an unlikely kindred spirit in Monique Marmelstein. Kolchak’s sheer force of will is what’s carrying him through.
Tumblr media
Gordo, as always upholding the highest of ethical standards.
Highlight
Pop : The scene where the alien visitor bursts through the wall at Raydine Electronics, sending out a shower of breeze blocks blowing and police officers over their squad cars. Given that this is a cheap old series and it’s shot in the blazing sunlight it looks surprisingly good!
Tim : Carl and Vincenzo discussing the evolving story while Vincenzo has a fine dining chef to serve his every need turns from the comic to the tragic with the intervention of mysterious ‘men in suits’. A small moment in the story, but one that sells the news men's desire for the story meeting the reality of censorship for the greater good. Simon Oakland really sells this moment, his words saying one thing, his physical performance another. It’s at moments like these in the series, you are reminded just how good our leads are.
Tumblr media
Carl runs towards the denouement; shots like this add to the Quatermass feel of the story.
Lowlight
Pop : I was disappointed by the standoff with the alien at the observatory near the end. It goes on too long, and the sequence of events is confusing. We also see the same shot of dials being twiddled by invisible hands about five times too many. I felt that the tension generated by the confrontations with the weekly monster in the previous episodes was mostly absent here.
Tim : The alien “attacks”. They just don’t work for me, especially one where a poor cheetah has hay blown at it and then freeze-frames on it looking confused. Doesn’t feel like an alien attack; it feels like someone “messing about and finding out” when the cheetah’s fight or flight instinct kicks in and the cameraman ends up with an arm off.
Updyke vs. Kolchak
‘Uptight’ is back and has been appointed the acting sports editor. He’s still an insufferable weasel as he tries to avoid giving Carl his reward for saving Updyke’s skin. Kolchack runs rings around him in their scene, Easy win for Carl.
Updyke 0 - 2 Kolchak
Score on the doors
Pop : Started off well, and I appreciated the different tone set here, but it failed to stick the landing 4/10
Tim : A strong story, let down by having ideas bigger than its budget. Still good. 7/10

Is Cox the Right Fit for Home Entertainment?
Tumblr media
Cox offers various services for home entertainment. One of these is cable TV. Another is high-speed internet. Lastly, there are streaming options. But many families find Cox reliable: Is it the best choice for them, though? Take Jane's family as an example: They stream movies every night. With Cox, they never face buffering. Their internet speed is fast. This enables them to stream on multiple devices. For Jane's family, Cox delivers the speed they need. One family's needs may be different from another's. What works for one family may not work for another. It’s important to consider your own needs before deciding.
Cox has a range of TV packages. This means there is a variety for different preferences. For sports fans, Cox offers channels like ESPN.Movie lovers get HBO. But there's more to Cox than just channels. They also offer DVR options. This feature allows you to record shows and watch them later. Mary, a busy mom, appreciates this function. She can record her favorite shows while she's at work. Later, she watches the program with her family. This flexibility makes Cox a good choice for busy households. But, it's wise to compare other options as well.
Price is a key factor. Cox's packages vary in cost. Some people find Cox affordable. Others think it's pricey. It's important to consider what you get for the price. Does Cox offer good value? That depends on what you're looking for. If you value quality, Cox might be worth it. If you're on a tight budget, you may need to shop around for a better deal.
