I actually love movie theatres so much. no matter how many ppl are in the room with you it’s always fun. if you’re the only one there then it’s your own little private show. if there’s one or two more people then you feel like you’re sharing a little secret with these strangers you will never interact with. if the whole place is packed then you get to listen to the audience collectively laughing or gasping or ooohing in reaction to the fun bits. going to movies is just such a good time.

Hadestown poster concept!!
I comPLETELY forgot about this, I think I made it for fun maybe right around graduating college, or sometime teetering on my college/PMDD/endo/newfound chronic pain burnout. (I think I discovered hadestown sometime in my second or third year and I’ve adored it since, might be my top musical. Definitely top 5)
It’s kind of oldish now but I think it’s still pretty good! I’ve gotta do more stuff like this!

what's ur opinion on parasite if u watched it
for me it was one of those films where i enjoyed a lot about it as a piece of filmmaking---like there were some strong visual moments, lots of good performances, i thought it was paced well---but i was also ultimately a little frustrated with its politics. not that they were actively disagreeable but there were elements that weren't developed as much as they could have been (like the commentary on colonialism and us imperialism) and in some ways it was just unimaginative. like i don't expect every film to invent a radical communist alterity but if you want to make a condemnation of the capitalist social order it helps if you can at least gesture toward having some alternative and genuinely counter-hegemonic politics instead. i think parasite's ending always read as a little tepid to me because without a real idea of other possibilities it's just kind of like. defeatist or reformist at best

| Rant incoming.
I will not stand for anyone bashing the talents of actors and actresses in such severe circumstances and given so very little to work with. You can absolutely dislike the way someone portrays a role, but to say that they were bad at it and that it's "weird" for an adult to be playing a child when it literally happens on broadway in the states as well as other places in the world? That's also like saying it's weird for a child to be playing a 30-year old something adult. I will not stand for that. It is inconsiderate and insulting to the hard work put into a stage adaptation. Especially when the given circumstances were a much smaller budget as well as performing during the height of Covid-19. For the actor to risk their actual life to put on a beloved performance while a pandemic raged on. To call them bad at acting and weird for playing a child? Absolutely not.
Konishi Eito did a wonderful job portraying our favorite little Earl with what he was given and forced to work with. Especially having to wear a mask on stage, running about under hot lighting, doing complicated dances and much more. So to say he was terrible is such an offensive insult to the actor. You can dislike the way he did it, but I won't stand by for the bashing of a talented actor. Consideration needs to be given more often to what an actor must do or go through for a role.
Personally, I am ecstatic they will be doing a re-run of the public school stage adaptation. Now that it's been a few years, I am sincerely hoping they are given a much better budget to work with for the stage and I do hope the actors will not have to wear masks this time around. Although the masks were translucent, it must have been a pain to wear during performance.
I am a lover of theatrical arts. So to be told that this person was terrible for the role when even Yana was delighted, infuriates me. Actors and actresses go through a lot. Understanding must be given rather than decidedly throwing them under the bus.

Hi! I’m just curious about a random history question—I’m watching through MMNI and noticed that Croydonosaurus is stated to be part of a Sequel Sunday like the Look Out movies, but then Back to the Tutor airs a few days later with no mention of a Croydonosaurus sequel? I was just curious as to whether you (or anyone) remembers what went on with that particular show—was it canceled? Or did it happen but just wasn’t recorded? Thanks!!
Yes I do remember! The sequel was cancelled bc someone in the mmni team tested positive for covid in btwn shows. Literally 30 mins before the show started, Jonathan Sayer told the Zoom panel that the sequel show was cancelled. This message was later sent to everyone who bought a ticket for that show:
And this message was posted on their social media:
The next weekend, they had a whole new cast on. The emergency cast consisted of Dave Hearn, Lauren Shearing, Bryony Corrigan, Ellie Morris, Laura Kirman, and Matt Cavendish. Dave and Lauren were already listed as part of the summer cast but Dave had only done 2 shows up to this point while Lauren hadn’t done any yet that summer. Ellie was pulled from tptgw west end, Laura from tptgw uk tour (if I’m remembering correctly), and Matt from Groan Ups uk tour. Jon remained as Oscar.
Hope this helps clear things up anon! It was truly a wild time, but the Mischief community was very kind and supportive through it all!
What do you mean that mmni was two years ago?!?

This is your periodic reminder that I intentionally use “post-lockdown” rather than “post-Covid” because for many, many people the threat of Covid is not over. That includes everyone working in theatre, whom are in what is still a relatively high-risk career, and for whom getting long Covid could be literally career-ending.
