"FORGED NAME TO GET DOPE STICKS," Hamilton Spectator. August 30, 1912. Page 14. --- Youthful Devotee At Shrine of Lady Nicotine ---- Shocked To Learn It Was a Very Serious Offense ---- James Carson Charged With Stealing 91st Rifle ---- "Now for a drag on a cigarette. Just watch me weave me left lung around this dream-stick," sighed 11-year-old Jimmy Murphy as he strolled along Barton street east and produced a package of cigarettes from his hip pocket.
But fate was camping on the trail of the youthful Jimmy, and just as he poisoned the air with a cloud of smoke Constable Hay, of the eastern station, loomed up and demanded to know where the "nails" were purchased.
"Why, I was croaking for a pill, so I wrote out a note and signed the name of Connors on it. Then I gave me messenger the price of the smokes and sent him to Souter's. He brought them back to me and dis is one I'm smoking now. That's all there is to it," smiled the infant worshiper of My Lady Nicotine as he took another pull on the smoke.
"That's not all there is to it. Mr. Souter will have to explain to his worship why he sold cigarets to minors," replied the constable.
Souter, who keeps a tobacco store at 767 Barton street east, explained to his worship that he was not present when the lad bought the smokes, and that his wife sold them. She explained to him that the boy brought in a note signed by the name of Connors, and she thought it was all right to sell the cigarets.
"Who is this man Connors?" his worship asked young Murphy. "Why, he used to run a barber shop on Barton street, but he moved away. I just signed his name to the note to get the smokes," replied Murphy.
"For a forger you are indeed candid and truthful. I must say," smiled the magistrate, "Do you know that men are sent to jail for life very often for doing just what you did?" asked his worship.
"Hully Gee, is that right, mister? Believe me, I'm goin' to cut out smokin' for keeps," replied Murphy.
After considering the circumstances surrounding the case, his worship allowed Mr. Souter to go with a warning to be careful in future about handing out cigarets to minors.
COMMITTED FOR TRIAL After an absence of many months, James Carson, jr., 93 Park street north, returned to renew old acquaintances with the court officials. Carson was charged with the theft of an army rifle from the 31st Highlanders' regiment. George Buckingham, color-sergeant of the regiment, identified a rifle which the police located in a pawn-shop on York street as one which he handed out to Private Dunning some months ago. When Downing left the city for the west, the rifle was not returned to the regiment.
J. Cohen, proprietor of the pawn-shop, stated that Carson entered his store last Thursday and so highly explained the merits of the rifle that he paid him the large amount of 60 cents for it.
"I don't know anything about rifles, but when he told me that it would shoot from here to Kingston, I thought it might be worthy 60 cents," explained Cohen. Later, when he attempted to sell it to a customer for $3.50, he was told that it was the property of the 91st regiment and that he had better report it to the police. Downing formerly boarded at Carson's home, and the police claim that he left the rifle there when he left the city. Carson was committed for trial.
CONTRACTOR FINED $10 Inspector Anderson is still on the warpath against contractors who refuse to comply with the building by-laws, and this morning Thirby Dowell, 40 Fairview avenue was nominated on the explain why his employees ... were mixing five wheels barrows of sand to one small barrel of cement.
....When I left the job yesterday I gave the men strict orders to mix five parts to one. If the wall that was put up before the inspector came is not stronger than the by-law requires, I'll forfeit $100," said Dowell.
"You say that Mr. Anderson did you a good turn by calling your attention to the breach, so it is only proper that you should reciprocate now by paying a fine of $10," smiled his worship, as he glanced affectionately at the large moss-rose that adorned his lapel.
COST HIM $1. Thomas Launders, 80 Chatham street, allowed the precious city water to trickle along the roadside into the sewers, and the attention of the police was called to the little breach. Launders was fined $1.
DISMISSED CASE. When Mary Bigamont, of Sherman avenue north raised an objection to her little girl being mussed about by the daughter of Brusquili Mostacco. She testified that Mostacco rusted into her house and informed her that he was going to kill her. Mary naturally objected to having a funeral in the family without her being able to hear the choir sing, and she told Моstacco so, but he grabbed her by the throat and threw her on the grass. This was her story. Mostacco's was sadly different, and the magistrate, with the wisdom of Solomon. wisely dismissed the case.

Elevate Your Netball Game: Choosing the Perfect Netball Court Company
youtube
Do you dream of the perfect netball court, where every match is a thrilling adventure and victory is just a jump shot away? Well, you're in the right place! In this article, we'll explore the world of netball court companies and discover how to find the one that will turn your netball dreams into a reality.
The Court: Where Dreams Become Reality Imagine a netball court as a stage where athletes become heroes, dreams are woven into reality, and the pulse of competition quickens the heart. A professionally crafted court is the canvas where every game, every play, and every victory is painted. But how do you choose the right netball court company to bring your vision to life?
The Blueprint of a Great Court Before we dive into the selection process, let's first understand what makes a great netball court. Consider it like baking the perfect cake. Here's a checklist of the essential ingredients for a top-notch netball court:
Accurate Dimensions: A court must meet official measurements for fair and competitive play. High-Quality Surface: A smooth, consistent playing surface ensures safety and fair gameplay. Precise Markings: Clear, sharp court markings are the road signs for athletes on the court. Sturdy Goalposts: Goalposts should stand tall and unwavering, just like the mast of a ship, guiding players to victory. Creating a court that checks all these boxes is a specialized art, and this is where a netball court company comes into play.
Choosing the Right Netball Court Company Selecting a netball court company is like choosing the conductor for your orchestra. The company you choose will lead the creation of your court, turning your dreams into a symphony of sportsmanship. So, what should you look for when making this important decision?
Experience: The Guiding Star Just as a seasoned chef creates culinary masterpieces, an experienced netball court company has honed their craft to perfection. Look for a company with:
Years in the Field: Experience is the cornerstone of expertise. Qualified Team: A professional crew ensures precision and quality. Proven Track Record: Past projects and testimonials are like references for your court's 'job interview.' Materials and Technology: The Tools of the Trade Just as a painter needs high-quality brushes, a netball court company requires top-notch materials and technology. Seek a company that offers:
Quality Surfaces: The court's surface should be resilient, weather-resistant, and easy to maintain. Eco-Friendly Options: Today's world values eco-conscious choices; an eco-friendly court is like a breath of fresh air. Cutting-Edge Equipment: Modern technology ensures precision and efficiency. Customization: Tailored to Perfection Your netball court isn't just another project; it's an extension of your passion for the game. Look for a company that offers customization options:
Court Colors: Personalize your court with colors that reflect your team's spirit. Logos and Branding: Add a professional touch by incorporating your team's logo and branding. Multi-Sport Integration: If you're a multifaceted athlete, choose a company that can adapt your court for other sports. The Journey to Your Dream Court Your journey to the perfect netball court begins with defining your vision. Just as an artist starts with a blank canvas, you should have a clear picture of what you want. Consider your priorities, the design, and the ambiance you want to create.
Research and Shortlist Once your vision is clear, start the search for your ideal netball court company. Look for companies in your area, read reviews, seek recommendations, and check out their websites. This is like setting out on an expedition, gathering information about the terrain ahead.
Conduct Interviews Meeting potential companies is akin to conducting job interviews. It's a chance to assess their expertise, professionalism, and how well you connect with them. Feeling comfortable and confident in their abilities is vital.
Ask the Right Questions Just as explorers rely on compasses, don't hesitate to ask questions:
Previous Projects: Request references and photos of their past work. Timelines: Understand the estimated duration for the installation. Pricing: Get detailed quotes to avoid any surprises down the road. Choose Your Partner in Excellence Like choosing a dance partner, trust your instincts. Select the company that aligns with your vision, expertise, and values. After all, this partnership will shape your netball dreams.
Conclusion: Your Netball Dreams Await Your netball court isn't just a playing area; it's a canvas where dreams take flight, friendships flourish, and triumphs are etched in memory. By selecting a company with the right expertise, technology, and customization options, you're setting the stage for an unforgettable netball experience.
So, are you ready to elevate your netball game? The perfect netball court awaits, and with the right installation company, you're just a few steps away from making your dreams a reality. It's time to step onto the court and let the games begin!

i'm sorry.. what?
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Municipal Court is resuming evictions as early as Monday, saying landlord tenant officers have now received training on use of force and de-escalation tactics.
landlord.. tenant.. officers?
"Though the sheriff has the power to serve evictions, the task is usually handled by a private force hired by a court-appointed attorney known as the landlord-tenant officer. These private security contractors — who are often armed — have long been a part of the local eviction system."
so landlords have their own private military? this is class warfare
This follows the court suspending all evictions in July after multiple tenants were shot during evictions over the past several months. In one incident in March, a plainclothes landlord tenant officer shot a woman in the head. In another incident in July, police said a woman was shot in the leg. A spokesperson for the court's Landlord and Tenant Office said evictions will now be conducted in teams of two officers who have all received Pennsylvania Constable training.
this is LITERALLY class warfare
The LTO is funded by service fees from landlords and not taxpayer money. Fees to landlords will increase from $145 to $350 to cover the additional staff, training and insurance costs.
and who the fuck do you think is going to end up ultimately paying those fees in the end? where do you think the landlords are going to get the money? you're just giving them an excuse to raise the rent. oh my god this country is a complete and total failed state.

someone who gets it like.....they will cook on the rare occasion what he made sucks ass. otherwise homegirls are rolling out of bed at 7:57 for an 8 AM school day and kid is handing them ready made lattes that have all the foam scraped off because he tried to do latte art and it wasn't symmetrical and he nearly smashed the travel mug. when lunchtime comes they go to the school caf and say put it on his tab. when they get home kid rolls his sleeves up and starts chopping because mf made a promise to them and he will be DAMNED if a shinigami renages on their deals
liz does take over and cut the onion because the fact that every piece wasn't universally symmetrical was driving kid up a wall and making it take forever. patty put sprinkles on hers. that's about the extent of their involvement here
"liz and patty do the cooking-" liz and patty had sleep and nicotine for dinner. KID was up at 5 AM making breakfast burritos and getting the crockpot set up to run while they're at school

Uber Technologies and Lyft on Thursday agreed to adopt a $32.50 hourly minimum pay standard for Massachusetts drivers and pay $175 million to settle a lawsuit by the state’s attorney general alleging they improperly treated drivers as independent contractors who can legally receive lower compensation than employees.
The companies also agreed to give drivers paid sick leave, accident insurance, and healthcare stipends and to stop funding or supporting a ballot initiative that would have asked voters in November to cement app-based drivers’ status as contractors, Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell said.[...]
The agreement requires Uber to pay $148 million and Lyft to pay $27 million to the state. At least $140 million will be paid out to drivers, according to a court filing.
