Fallout: New Vegas - Courier Six

Lot’sa stuff under the cut

Male. Tanned, round-ish face, kinda asiatic.Black hair on a side cut to my right. Dark stubble covering my face, with a small beard and mustache patch.

Always wore heavy clothing, kinda like what the rangers wore. And cowboy hats or faceless helmets.

Born with the Great Khans, used to call Bitter Springs home. Was away working as courier when that massacre happened.

Tended to be a suave talker, flirted with everybody even if didn’t mean it. Quite charismatic

Was kicked from casinos for cheating more than once.

Loved the heck out of Salsaparrilla, remember tasting the sweet flavour 

Was really curious about the old world and it's technologies and ways of living

Pretty good with a one-handed gun at close distance and with a weapon, often a machete. Took great pride in headshots

Had a trusty revolver. At some point personalized it

Random scenes:

Taking the monorail to New Vegas, sitting in one of the benches with hands between my legs as I tried to make conversation with a NCR high ranking offici

Visiting the Silver Rush, taking a lot of time choosing, inspecting every weapon very carefully. Eventually the guards got bored of me and threw me out.

Petting a Bighorn, passing my hand through it’s big horn, giving it something to eat

In the Lucky 38, chatting with some friends and acquaintances. After acquiring it for myself I liked to open it sometimes for some hangout.

Sided with the Yes Man. Managed to convince the Khans to side with the NCR. It was the best option for survival.

I've made a treaty with the NCR. A bit after the whole deal ended. With a new president. And new times. Was happy to allow them in the land, I knew I wouldn't rule forever

Hearing ED-E beeping near me, all satisfied with something.

Openly flirted with Arcade, he went along just for fun.

Got really friendly with the Boomers, they were really willing to cooperate with me.

Honest Hearts:

Meeting Follow-Chalks, he wasn’t more than a teenager and super helpful and friendly, eager to listen to my tales. He loved my pip-boy and I would play it just for his amusement, he loved listening to the radio.

Joshua Graham was very weird, never talked a lot to him, didn't really like him. He accepted it without an issue. Daniel was a sweet man but we had lots of disagreements. I tried to argue with him but he was damn stubborn.

Old World Blues:

Spying the lobotomites through a sniper rifle or binoculars. When they weren't occupied they were quite sweet, playing with each other or with random objects. I remember bringing toys of all shapes and leaving them nearby so the lobotomites could play with them

Dead Money:

Dean acted very surprised when I told of other ghouls like him in the wasteland. Guess he considered himself as a stand-out. Later would met him again but in Vegas, at the Tops Casino.

I barely got in the Vault, just seeing all those gold bars in the table made me feel sick. Just turned around and left to deal with Elijah.

I would see Dean after it, in one of the big casinos in New Vegas.

Lonesome Road (DLC):

Sleeping in the Divide, using a wrecked building as shelter while trying my best to stay comfortable in my bedroll. The winds were noisy and barely slept that night.

Covering for shelter when I detonated the Aston missile. Got shitless scared that moment.

Nights there were the hardest. Dust would rise and cover the sky, it was impossible to see through it, and the sound of the wind howling through the wrecks was heard everywhere.

Different anon but. What do you think about *your* courier six? Do you have memories/impressions of a specific person? What was your relationship like?

I'm going to answer this question in two parts, here I'll introduce the characters of the two main couriers I have, and then in a moment I'll reblog & add a link to the post on my kin blog where I'll go into more detail on that aspect. I like to keep the two separate.

Charisma

So saintly it’s obnoxious.

Charisma is a 30 (or so) year-old hailing from the Capital Wasteland with a mysterious past. It’s just so hard to talk about you guys you don’t get it it’s just so painful I can’t tell you about it now but maybe someday.........

What he tells you is specifically tailored to earn the most empathy from you based on the sensitive details of your life experiences. Isn’t that thoughtful.

And everyone knew his whole perfect saint vaguely Christian religious imagery shtick was too good to be true, but they were expecting the reveal to be that he, like, killed someone once, not that he was a SLAVER at PARADISE FALLS running errands for the LEGION.

He’s a super special boy who has mastered the Gaslighting Arts and is just so skilled in his craft that he manages to convince everyone that they are the most manipulative monster to ever set foot in the Mojave but thank GOD Charisma is there for them to SUPPORT them through EVERYTHING and so WILLING to stick it out and TOLERATE them despite how EVIL they are.

“Courier”

Uniquely named, Courier Six is not actually the true Courier Six (that’s Charisma), but for all intents and purposes, he is. He comes from the Capital Wasteland as well, perhaps from a certain vault (he’s the lone wanderer). He’s calmed down a bit since the events of Fallout 3. He cut way back on the cannibalism, don’t worry about it!

In all seriousness, he is a good guy at heart. He’s impulsive (kidnapped Vulpes Inculta on a whim), and a bit questionable (see cannibalism), but he cares deeply for those close to him and prioritizes their safety and happiness above all else. He’s a good ally to have on your side, and he’s smart. He doesn’t always show it, and it gets overshadowed by his impulsivity, but he’s great at looking at things objectively. He believes in giving everyone basic human respect, but he’s far from a pushover. He stands his ground, and he’s learned this from years of being a doormat.

He’s also Charisma’s estranged ex. Things didn’t work out between them when he learned Charisma was a SLAVER. He led an ambush on Paradise Falls, and in the chaos, Charisma fled, heading out to the Mojave Wasteland, where he had contacts with the Mojave Express, and the Legion. “Six” followed Charisma across the country, and finally caught up with him when he took the courier job. Charisma was the one who got shot in the head, but Six intercepted him and took his place, following Benny, and getting all the glory (and the namesake of Six) as a result.

A Courier 6 Kinnie’s Thoughts on New Vegas 2

With Microsoft buying Bethesda, and Obsidian and Bethesda being sister companies now, I have seen talk about a possible New Vegas 2. Here are my thoughts on it: A New Vegas 2 is a bad idea. Just in general. This isn’t just about it being a Microsoft thing or whatever other people’s problems seem to be. I know nothing about Microsoft or Obsidian in its current state so I can’t really comment on that. My point is, a New Vegas 2 would ruin everything New Vegas is about. New Vegas does not need a direct sequel, and I think one would be a terrible idea. This isn’t like Fallout 1 where Fallout 2 could be made because Fallout 1 has a pretty set ending with only small details up to the player. Get the Waterchip and foil The Master’s plans is how the game goes. Fallout 2 did end up choosing some endings to certain sidequests as cannon, but that  did not majorly change the flow of Fallout 1, and Fallout 1 can still be played in multiple ways that can be considered “cannon”. Fallout New Vegas, however, is all about having the player’s choices have a huge affect on the game world. The faction you choose to support in the Battle of Hoover Dam changes nearly everything about life in the Mojave Wasteland. Choosing a “correct” ending would ruin the whole game. Fallout New Vegas does not have a cannon ending, and that is how it should be. Like I said in my title, I kin the main character from Fallout New Vegas. I don’t really care about the reader’s thoughts on kinning, all I want you to understand that for me I lived through these events. Setting a “correct” path to New Vegas could potentially ruin the entire life I lived through. And I know you can kin characters from an alternate timeline of things, but the point still stands that New Vegas isn’t just a game, it’s a glimpse into life in a post-nuclear wasteland full of realistic, fleshed out ways to live that life. The amount of choice the player has is incredible. A direct sequel for New Vegas would ruin that entirely. Fallout isn’t just a game series to some of us. For some people, like myself, it is a home. A place to escape to when things are rough that will always be there. Fallout New Vegas is a huge part of who I am and a sequel would probably discredit all of that. Sorry if this is an incoherent rant that makes no sense, I just wanted to get my feelings across.
