I was thinking about the last prompt of keeptober Halloween and I was curious what you think each of the councilors would dress up as if team valient got to pick their costumes?
I'm so sorry the first thing that came to mind was the whole underground catboy society thing from a while ago and all I could think was catboy Bronte.
That being said, this ended up more me assigning them costumes based on the most minor details we have about them because so many of them are like never mentioned except for their name so. There's that (several of them also stumped me for a while, so they're not excellent answers, but oh well)
Alina: The fairy godmother from Shrek. They convince her she's glamorous while all the time knowing about her evil side.
Bronte: Oscar the grouch from sesame street. Grumpy and a great excuse to put him (lovingly) in a trash can
Clarette: Doesn't care about Halloween so only agreed to wear an animal-themed costumed. She is now an arthropleura (the thing that stabbed Fitz) because comedy
Darek: Would a ghost be too cliche? Because he's a phaser, so I can see that connection. But also Darek isn't too nice so he can be one of the despicable, unliked ghosts. that or a north pole elf
Emery: Scene kid. I don't. I don't know why. but he's got the thickest eyeliner you've ever seen and keeps saying no one understands him as he blasts his music to tune out the voices in his head
Liora: Listen she's got a whole ocean-theme thing going on I keep seeing her and thinking Moana.
Noland: Lin Manuel Miranda's Alexander Hamilton...listen okay this is entirely because of the ponytail I'm sorry.
Oralie: Sophie once described her as a fairy princess or something similar, so I can 100% see fairy.
Ramira: There is so little info about her but her aesthetic reminds me of those sun elves from tdp? looked it up they're called sunfire elves and the outfits are matching in color so! also both elves, might be fun to dress her up as an elf because she's also an elf :)
Terik: Wizard! Completely inspired by his cane, which made me think of a staff. And with being the only descryer, the rarity of his ability and of wizards could match!
Velia: Because she likes maps I keep thinking of Milo from Atlantis, but I don't know if she'd ever agree to something like that. But my mind is stuck on it so I can't think of anything else
Zarina: Pikachu. She's a charger okay I'm trying to make these make sense and pikachu is like. lightning! and she's wearing yellow in the councillor photo so! that or legolas. because elf and matching hair
Kenric: ...fire fighter

@starlightcleric's Owlcatober 2022 challenge Didn't think I'd have time to write one today and then this happened. Added to chapter 6 of The Lark and the Crow on AO3.
***
They met in front of the Half-Measure, in the part of town where Drezen’s nicer shops had sprung up. Daeran arrived in a midnight-blue velvet frock coat over a cream-colored linen shirt, well-fitting slate trousers and shiny black knee-high boots. Woljif tried the outfit on in his head but wasn’t sure he could get away with it. Not yet anyway. You had to have the money to back it up or people would laugh.
“The Lost Prince desires a tailor,” said Daeran as they fell in step. “Remind me. What’s the occasion?”
“I’m on the Commander’s council now. Gotta look the part,” Woljif lied.
“Personally, I rather enjoy the expressions on people’s faces when you stroll into the command room not looking the part,” said Daeran.
“Yeah, I get that. But they’re lookin’ down their noses at me, I can tell.”
“I don’t understand why that bothers you. You should be who you are, right in their smug faces.”
“Course you don’t understand why it bugs me. Just look at you.”
“I think you misjudge, my friend. I have made it my life’s work to be the wart on the Mendevian aristocracy’s nose. Or no—more like the obscene bulge in its trousers. I am universally looked down upon—and blushed at—and it is my greatest source of joy.”
“That’s cause you’re an Arendae. I’m just some dime-a-dozen demonspawn, no better’n a clod a’ dirt. I mean, until I come into my inheritance.”
They exchanged a sly smile.
“Anyway, you have only to look at our beloved Commander to see how important dress sense is in the Fifth Crusade,” said Daeran with a sarcastic roll of the eyes.
Woljif pretended to peer into the window of Darek Sunhammer’s because his face had grown warm. “Not good?”
“No. But he gets away with it because he doesn’t care, and that’s what I’m advising you to learn to do too. Here we are.”
The tailor, an impeccably groomed gnome by the name of Quintus, jumped up from behind rolls of fine fabric and rushed over, bowing and snapping his fingers for his assistants.
“Ah, Count, how delightful!”
The gnome put on a most obsequious expression, while at the same time darting alarmed glances at the personage who had slipped in on the Count’s coattails.
Daeran surveyed the shop displays and shook his head sadly. Sky blue, forest green, warm browns and rosy lilac. “I suppose there was no avoiding it,” he sighed.
“What do you think of this?” cried Quintus, holding up a swath of supple, wine-colored leather. “Out of stock all across Mendev ever since the Knight-Commander kicked the demons out of Kenabres in just such a jerkin. I have a few yards in reserve for my most discerning customers.”
“Your least discerning customers, Quintus. Those enthralled to fashion’s most ill-advised caprices. Not I.”
“Of course, of course—” The gnome bobbed his head in consternation. “Joking, of course.”
“However I am not here to make a purchase for myself, but rather to advise my esteemed co-councilor to the Knight-Commander, his excellency Woljif Jefto.”
Woljif watched with satisfaction as the gnome’s suspicious glances turned, with some rapid blinking, into an ingratiating simper.
“What can I interest you in, sir?”
Woljif realized he had no idea where to start. He glanced at the Count.
“Black,” said Daeran.
“What if I want—”
“What you want, my friend, is you—just more expensive you. Walk into council meetings looking not like any old brigand off the street, but a successful brigand. Strikes a nice balance between commanding respect and thumbing your nose, wouldn’t you say?”
“All right, I’m trustin’ you on this.”
There were measurements to be made and fabrics to choose, and both Daeran and Woljif bit their cheeks as the gnome practically twisted himself into knots trying not to commit a faux pas by calling attention to his customer’s demonic appendages even while working them into his designs.
“I could get used to this,” Woljif grinned as Quintus bowed again and hurried off for another selection of silks.
When the clothes were ready a few days later, Woljif thought no other tiefling in the history of Golarion had ever been dressed so well. The silk shirt wrapped around and laced on the sides so that he didn’t have to pull it over his horns. The trousers buttoned over his tail so he didn’t have to cut a hole in them and then try threading his tail through it every time he put them on. Daeran looked him up and down with a satisfied expression. But the real test—well, that made him feel funny, so better not to think on it for now.
“Not bad, huh?”
Daeran nodded his approval. “Not only do you look like a very successful brigand, but one who has a friend and advisor with excellent taste. You know what we should do? I’ll invite you to my next party, and we’ll tell them you’re the Dread Pirate King of Absalom.”
Quintus’ assistant was tasked with sending his old leathers out to be scrubbed. Then it came time for the bill.
Feigning surprise and embarrassment, Woljif patted down his empty pockets. “Ah hells, I knew I forgot something.”
Daeran looked at him and narrowed his eyes, then shook his head. “Fine. You owe me. And don’t think I’ll forget it.”

It’s not like I like you
Notes: This was inspired because I was thinking a couple months ago that maybe at official balls and other events for the first dance the council has to dance together and now with Kenric’s death there’s 5 guys and 7 girls so Alina and Oralie end up dancing to together because Oralie’s dancing partner was Kenric and Alina didn’t have one they’re paired up and maybe it turns into enemies to reluctant friends to friends to lovers
Characters: Councillor Oralie, Councillor Alina, Councillor Emery, the rest of the council is there but they’re only mentioned
Words: 635
Since Alina had joined the council the others had slowly warmed up to her but one had always kept her distance.
Alina walked into the meeting room but the table was gone and she saw the others talking in a circle. Once all twelve of the councilors where in the room Emery clapped his hands together calling the attention to him
“As you all know for official balls and events the council is expected to have the first dance. Usually for rehearsals I would just say get in your partnered pairs, and we would practice for a few hours. But, with the addition of councilor Alina and the loss of councilor Kenric.” At the mention of Kenric's name the council fell silent for a few moments, Alina looked over and saw Oralie wiping tears. Of course everyone knew the two loved each other but they were councilors, and Kenric died before they stepped down. After the moment was over councilor Emery continued “Because of this development Oralie and Alina will now be pared for dances, due to neither of them having a dance partner at the moment.” Alina looks over and locks eyes with Oralie, neither of them look really to happy with this development. Alina tries to look away but Oralie's gaze is like a tractarbeam from one of those human movies. Finally Oralie looks away, Alina checks her watch it felt like they had stared at each other for hours but it had only been thirty seconds. “Okay,” Emery's voice begins “Let's all get in our dance partners and I'll start the music.” The council nodded and partnered up. Alina figured out that they were partnered up based on how long they had each been there. This meant that Liora was partnered with Bronte. Ramira was partnered with Emery. Zarina was partnered with Clarette. Velia was partnered with Noland. Terik was partnered with Darek. And finally Oralie was partnered with Alina. This was going to be interesting.
She was right. The whole rehearsal Alina and Oralie had been tripping over each other far from the amazing grace the other councilors seemed to have. It also didn't help that Oralie seemed to hate Alina and that her face would get red as a cherry bomb every time they got too close, and seemed to shove her away every chance she got. Both physically and emotionally.
After the third practice that went that way Alina decided to confront Oralie, and it went about as well as she expected it too with Oralie shoving her away and telling her to leave her alone, but Alina was done.
As Oralie walked away Alina grabbed her wrist and stopped her
"What is your problem with me?" Oralie shook her head
“I don't have a problem with you. I just don't like you.”
one
two
three skipped heart beats
the tell tale sign of an empath is lying
“Clearly you do or maybe your heart just disagrees with your head.” Oralie shook her head once again
"I can't tell you. Really Alina, so just drop it."
"Why not?" Alina demanded because she does not listen when people tell her to drop things
"Because I love you Alina! I tried to hide my feelings and pushing them down so that I didn't risk our positions." Her voice cracked "I hated not being around you, but it was safer, I thought." and with that Oralie pulled her arm out of Alina's grip, and walked out of the meeting room, leaving Alina standing there.
 Annual elvin ball
As the dance ended and the other elves cheered Alina dipped Oralie. Their faces were obscured, hidden behind Alina's long hair. Alina kissed Oralie and rested her forehead against hers
"Do you still not like me?" Oralie laughed,
“Maybe we will have a happy ending.”

How do you think councillor Emery (and the other councilors) will react/think personally and do about Sophie burning down the Neverseens storage house
Also I think it would be really cool if team valient went to the troll peace summit (I wonder if they'd be allowed to have a parent come with them or if their councillor contacts would count as their guardians for the peace summit)
Excellent question! Overall they're not gonna like it, but I think even the characters who do like Sophie (Bronte, Oralie, Terik) will be put off by it but unable to act on that because if they don't defend her, there's no defense against her at all and they don't want that.
Alina: This is proof that Sophie needs to be controlled and we shouldn't trust her! A fire? Wasn't she supposed to be fighting against a rogue arsonist?
Bronte: He may have strong feelings about it, but he won't let the council walk all over her and try to do what it's done in the past. He's also already had radically shifts in thinking, so he may be persuaded to think in her favor.
Clarette: Won't be happy about it, but won't pursue any punishment of her own accord. The fire was distasteful and she wishes the Sophie Problem would go away, trying to ignore it.
Darek: Doesn't like it! That's not the elven way of doing things and this shines a bad light on them for working with her. It's irresponsible and merits at the very least a stern talking to.
Emery: He's more upset at the headache this will cause him than dealing with Sophie. Now they have to decide if they can punish her, if they should, how this will impact their public image, what the Neverseen will respond with, etc. He doesn't have time to focus on her right now because now he's got a load of shit to deal with
Liora: Quiet disgust and annoyance. Exasperated over how Sophie keeps getting into these situations when they were doing perfectly fine before she came along. More likely to push for a punishment than Clarette, maybe
Noland: They cannot keep letting Sophie do whatever she wants, whenever she wants. Something has to be done to address this if after working together, she's decided this was the best course of action. He'd seek punishment.
Oralie: Regardless of how she feels, this is going to negatively impact Sophie and she feels the need to protect her from that. She'll oppose strong punishment if there's talk, working to gain back Sophie's trust.
Ramira: Really? Still dealing with Sophie? Well she won't be. She's got more important things to deal with as a councillor than this problematic kid. Everyone else can do what she wants and she doesn't care, she just wants her out of her hair.
Terik: "I'm not mad, just disappointed." Is that how he would've handled the situation? No. But it's what happened and now they have to deal with it and be better going forward, to work together.
Velia: Sophie Foster has consistently proven herself to be a problem and should be dealt with. They have had to deal with problems caused by her too many times already, and action is needed. She won't lead the charge against her, but she'll support it.
Zarina: This is another disappointed situation that will compromise what the council has to do and affect their image. She isn't actively speaking against Sophie, but is worried how long this can go on before there's a consequence for not acting.
Disclaimer that I don't actually know about the councillors very thoroughly (partially because they aren't prominent characters), so several of these are based almost entirely off of their descriptions in Unlocked. So I'm assuming parts of their characters in this reasoning; take it with a grain of salt!
Also I'd be very curious to see more things about the trolls, since I love Tarina very much. I'd hazard a guess they'd go with their councillors if Team Valiant was invited, as Team Valiant is an extension of the elven government? When Sophie was invited it was as her own person without affiliations, which is why her mother was there, but you could get away with different reasoning here. And it would be easier to write without having to include parents.

Hi Quill!! I was curious on how you think each of the councillors would react if Sophie was kidnapped and presumed dead now in the timeline?
great question! I will say this does depend on whether or not she'd been kidnapped previously, like if the events of the first book had still happened or if we'd just shifted that part of the story to later, but I'm going to proceed assuming that Sophie has been kidnapped and presumed dead once before.
(also, the councilors aren't very well explored individually so I might not give each one as much personal thought. also I'm assuming you mean presumed dead as in she died of natural causes and no one knows she was kidnapped, like the first time!)
Oralie: hope and intense grief, is my guess. If Sophie's been "dead" before and come back from it, then I think she'd hold onto that and convince herself that Sophie isn't actually gone, that she couldn't be gone. So denial based on past events. but at the same time she'd be very shaken at the thought of what could be happening to her wherever she is
Bronte: suspicion and becoming reserved. The same way Oralie is convinced she isn't dead, Bronte thinks there's more going on than her just dying. He's seen her grow and knows that whatever explanation given for her death just...doesn't seem right. it doesn't seem like it would kill her. it's too similar to the last time for him to truly believe she's gone
Alina: fake sympathy. She shows up to the funeral and comforts the family, but I think on some level she'd be relieved. Might feel guilty about that though. She never wanted Sophie dead, but with her gone it eases a lot of the pressure on her personal life and job. So conflicted. I think she'd be really conflicted about it. On one hand, a child died under her rule, on the other, she'd probably think the world would get a lot less tumultuous without her. Then again, she might be worried about how her friends would retaliate out of grief and dread dealing with that.
Emery: Tired. Worn. If Sophie dies, that comes back to him and his control, and while he isn't more powerful than the other council members, he's the spokesman and he'll be the one to have to talk about it. So it means a lot of work for him, and there's gonna be a lot of talk about it. Don't think he'd look forward to that. I don't think he'd outright mourn, but her death would weigh on him.
Liora: A little suspicious, I think. She's been on the council long enough to know that history can repeat itself and this disappearance is too like the last one for her to fully trust it. She'd voice support for those mourning her, but be wary of what was actually happening. I don't think she'd outright interfere, but rather keeps her eyes open for something that doesn't quite fit.
Clarette: I think she'd be really concerned, like actual overwhelming grief and mourning. She's never been supportive of Sophie in the past, but she seems empathic and caring enough of other people that her death would wound her. But it would be passing. She'd go through the sadness and emerge on the other side unphased. Not even a passing thought that Sophie might be alive would cross her mind, though.
Darek: He's never been supportive of Sophie, so I think he'd just go through the motions of mourning and whatever is required of him, but there's so much else a councilor has to do that as soon as he can get away from the funeral and the responsibilities of losing someone, he would.
Noland: I don't think he'd talk about it at all, but it would instead be something he thinks about on his own. Being as quiet as he is all the time, I think he'd observe everyone and everything instead, and maybe he wouldn't be completely convinced she's dead either, but he's not certain enough to do anything about it. He's just going with the flow.
Ramira: She might be the type to investigate further, so actually look into Sophie possibly being alive. Her cache holds the most secrets, so I think she's accustomed to things not being as they seem. In that sense, she wouldn't be mourning because she's not entirely convinced everything is lining up.
Terik: Shock. Just pure shock. he'd been friendly with Sophie in the past, and while I do think that was partly for show, the disdain he developed with her never meant he wanted her dead. I think he'd become reclusive for a little bit, struggling to come to terms with her death and how awful he was to her after she didn't cooperate with him. Perhaps thinking of all that potential she had and how he should've done more to help her reach it.
Zarina: I don't think she'd know what to do. She'd be concerned about the loss, but she'd also see it as not her fault so not her responsibility. She'd express sympathy for the family, but ultimately keep to herself. And she wouldn't think Sophie is alive, either. She might humor those who do, but she wasn't invested in Sophie enough to care for her death aside from the little guilt she might feel as her ruler.
Velia: I don't think much would change for her, and also we don't know a lot about her except that she doesn't ask questions. So in that sense I think she'd accept Sophie's death and not question it. Perhaps she could help with some of the formalities, like organizing the funeral however that would work given she already has a wanderling.
those are just general overviews of possible responses that could fit them! Like I said, a lot of the members aren't explored a lot, so I kinda had to mess around with what we do know about them to come up with an answer. i am curious what her cause of death would be for this particular kidnapping...they can't say she drowned again, but what could possibly kill Sophie Foster with how protected and cared for she is?

So I was thinking about kotlc characters as maverick playcards and I came up with an idea
(also disclaimer I don't play cards, and these are just my personal opinion)
Forkle as a joker because of the stallion story, and for him having a twin
Tumblr media
Fintan as the other joker because he also faked his death and it's kinda poetic I think having the two rebellion leaders being the same cards
Tumblr media
Spades
Emery as the ace of spades because personally when I see it I think of it being as one of the most important cards because it's different from the rest
Tumblr media
Oralie as the 10 of spades because she's important to the story but she isn't one of the oldest on the council also as a spade because Emery is a spade and I put all the councilors in the same house
Tumblr media
Terik as the jack of spades, because I thought it kinda fit him as being the only desycryer
Tumblr media
Liora as the queen of spades because it says in Unlocked that she was the second oldest councillor behind Bronte so her word might have more weight on the council
Tumblr media
Bronte as the king of spades because he's the oldest on the council
Tumblr media
I put the rest of the council just as random spades cards(9 of spades Zarina, 8 of spades Claretta, 7 of spades Alina, 6 of spades Noland, 5 of spades Ramira, 4 of spades Kenric, 3 of spades Darek, and the 2 of spades Velia)
Diamonds
For the diamonds I did the other world leaders and the black swan
Dimitar as the king of diamonds because he's the king that the books focused on the most in the earlier parts of the series
Hyldia as the queen of diamonds because she's a queen
Tumblr media
Enki as the jack of diamonds because personally when I think of jacks I kinda think of them as a forgotten card between the aces and the king and the queen and his betrayal was a plot twist
Tumblr media
Nubiti as the 10 of diamonds because I thought it just kinda fit to have her as a high up card
Calla as the 9 of diamonds for the same reasons as Nubiti but I put her below her because she's not an official queen
Pernille the troll empress as the 8 of diamonds I put her as the 8 of diamonds below Nubiti and Calla because we don't see much of her in the series and with the scandal with the Vackers and the trolls
Jolie as the ace of diamonds because I felt like it fit because the ace is kind of a different card and her character being different then the other dead characters because she died before the beginning of the series
Tumblr media
The other cards I didn't really have a reason I just thought they kind of fit so Livy as the 7 of diamonds, Prentice as the 6 of diamonds, Squall as the 5 of diamonds, Blur as the 4 of diamonds, Wraith as the 3 of diamonds, and Granite as the 2 of diamonds
Clubs
For the clubs I did the Neverseen
Vespera as the king of clubs because she is the oldest and one of the big bads and I think she's going to overthrow Gisela soon
Gisela as the queen of clubs because she runs the Neverseen
Ruy as the jack of clubs because he's kind of a wild card right now because it seems like his powers don't work
Gethen as the 10 of clubs because he's a powerful enemy and has been in the series since the start of the books
Umber as the ace of clubs because I think she's the only Neverseen member that's died in the series on screen
The other cards I didn't really have a reason I just thought they kind of fit so Trix as the 2 of clubs, Alvar as the 4 of clubs, and Brant as the 9 of clubs
I didn't have enough Neverseen members for all of the cards
Hearts
For the hearts I did the kids
Fitz as the king of hearts because Vackers are said to be like royalty
Biana as the queen of hearts for the same reason
Keefe as the jack of hearts because he's also kinda a wild card
Dex as the 10 of hearts because he's Sophie's best friend
Jensi as the 3 of hearts because he's a good friend to Sophie but doesn't have a lot of page time later on in the series
Valin as the 2 of hearts because he's an acquaintance to Sophie, and has less page time
Sophie as the ace of hearts because she's the Moonlark
The other cards I didn't really have a reason I just thought they kind of fit so Linh as the 9 of hearts, Tam as the 8 of hearts, Wylie as the 7 of hearts, Marella as the 6 of hearts, Maruca as the 5 of hearts, and Stina as the 4 of hearts
This was just my personal opinion but I'm curious, which kotlc characters do you think would be what playing cards?

Fiction into Reality (Sad Ending)
Warnings: Major character death
Summary: It was a normal game of dungeons until things start going of the rails and it does in fact get worse.
characters: Sophie Foster, Dex Diznee, Stina Heks,Biana Vackar, Councillor Oralie, Councillor Bronte, Minor Fintan Pyren, Minor Councillor Zarina, Minor Councillor Darek, Mentioned Councillor Alina, Mentioned Councillor Noland, Mentioned Wylie Endall
Authors note: Hi, I took a small kinda hiatus but I’m kinda back (not sure how often I’ll be posting) but I had an idea and I had to write it, I hope you enjoy. I might make a happy ending where the person doesn’t die. Also this is not proofread or edited.
“Only one of us will make it out of this.” She said
“I know” the other girl responded as the light fades from the first girl's eyes.
“No!” Biana screamed in a shrill voice full of pain and-
“Wow, you guys really get into the game.” Stina remarked. Sophie lifted her head, and went to respond, when Bronte who was the DM cut her off before an argument could break out. Though they weren't as hostile with each other as before arguments could still get out of hand.
“Ms. Foster please roll your final save.” Sophie picked up the dice and rolled it. It rolls around and finally settles on a 19.
“NO!” Biana screamed the two immediately back into character, as Stina rolls her eyes, and Dex walks back into the living room with popcorn with Oralie watching from the kitchen. Wylie was doing father son bonding with his dad, so the group had decided to play dungeons and dragons, and roped Bronte into being the DM. Suddenly then Zarinna burst through the door, with Noland following a second later.
“We need your help!” Zarina exclaims as best she could out of breath. Oralie stood up straight snapping into business mode as she stepped into the living room.
“We were in the Seat of Eminence planning when the next Peace Summit to fix the treaty with the Trolls and Dwarves was going to be when the Neverseen attacked. They have a signal blocker so all communicators are down, Alina and Darek are seriously injured. Where barley holding them we need your help.”
“Let's go.” Oralie said holding up the leaping crystal that lead to her counselor room in the Seat of Eminence.”
“Let's split up,” Bronte suggests after the leap was finished. “Me, Oralie, Lady Foster, and Lady Vacker will go one way while the rest of you go the other way, hopefully this way we can counter them, and catch them off guard giving us the jump on them.” everyone nodded in agreement. Bronte's group went first, once both groups were in place the signal was given. The next few minutes was a blur of adrenaline and pain for every soul involved. Though the fighting wasn't the devastating part. Noone knows how it happened but they all got caught except for one.
“Here's the thing is I didn't want to kill you all, but you give me no choice, we'll start with the perfect pink princess adored by the people.” He raised his hand but unknown to him Sophie had gotten away and had been working on freeing Bronte and the others. Without thinking she jumped at Fintan attempting to grab the knife but he saw her at the last minute lifting his arm, and slashing...
This gave Bronte enough time to arrest Fintan, while Biana, Stina, and Dex ran over to Sophie.
“C'mon Fos-Bos you can't die on us.” Biana cryed the four councilors stood behind the four teenagers knowing it was to late. Sophie lifted her head muttering
“It'll be okay B.” Then closed her eyes for the last time.
It had been two weeks since Sophie had died and everyone involved was still processing it. Today was the day of her wanderling planting. Oralie was sitting in the fiend when Bronte joined her on the grassy hill.
“Hey,” he says, Oralie nods in response. He puts his arm around her shoulder “It'll be okay, I promise. It might not happen immediately, but we'll get through this.” Oralie while still looking down at the grass said “It should've been me.” Bronte looks at her with a furrowed eyebrow,
“What do you mean?” Oralie looks up at him while still avoiding his eye's and says,
“The knife was meant for me but he stabbed her instead, she was just a kid that got dragged into an adult war.”
“I know,” he says “and it never should've happened but she wouldn't have wanted us to give up.” Oralie nods, and Bronte stands up holding a hand out that she takes to pull her up. They start walking towards the service.
“We'll get through this.” he says “Together.” Oralie nods and whispers
“Yeah, together.”

Hi this is chapter 3 for my skateboards and leadership highschool council au.
chapter one    chapter two    ao3 link
I hope you enjoy
            Emery gasps,
           “That's not good.” Kenric says
“Wow, nice job Sherlock Holmes I think we all know that.” Darek says back, Emery steps in before another fight breaks out between sophomores, seriously he thinks why are these sophomores always fighting.
“We need to find them before we go back, and you two fighting is not going to help that.” He says
“Whatever.” Darek says as he rolls his eyes
“Fine.” Kenric says looking only slightly happier than Darek
“Excellent leader skills Emery!” Fintan says “Now let's split into groups to find them.”
 Pov Switch
Oralie and Alina tumbled down the hill together, but after they hit a rock the two separated, finally at the end of the hill Oralie sits up and shakes her head wondering where Alina was and where she was. The photo that was in her hand fell and she lets out a breath she hasn't even realized she had been holding when it was intact. As she stood up, she knew she should stay put until the others found her, but even if she disliked Alina she was probably hurt because she had smacked her head on the rock. Oralie remembers that she had tumbled to the right while Alina had rolled to the left. Collecting her bearings Oralie sets off in that direction to find Alina.
After what felt like hours, though it had probably only been 45 minutes at best Oralie stumbled along Alina, who looked to either be passed out or sleeping. Oralie hoped she was just sleeping, but she knew it was probably the other option, just as she was trying to remember what Bronte had taught her, Alina blinks open her eyes
           “Where are we?”
“I don't know but we probably shouldn't move so the others can find us.” Oralie answers, as she pushes Alina back down from trying to stand up, “I don't think it's a good idea for you to stand right now, you were passed out just a couple minutes ago.” As Alina opens her mouth to talk back two shadows with blonde hair runs across to the other side of the river speaking to each other in raised whispers but they couldn’t make out the words, one of the shadows looking similar to Oralie's sister who had been missing since three years ago, it had actually been this camp she had gone missing at. They both looked at each other with an expression that said did you just see that but before they could talk, they hear someone call out
“Oralie! Alina! Are you guys over there?”
“Over here Kenric!” Oralie yells back, to which Kenric, with Bronte in tow ran over to them
“Are you guys, okay? Are you hurt?” he asks
“I'm fine just a couple of scratches, but Alina hit her head on the way down.” Oralie explains
“Okay I'll call the others; I don't like being out here without a councilor. Then we’ll head back to camp.” Bronte says taking charge with a clear and level head like always.
“Ah, is Bronte afraid of the forest.” Kenric teases
“No, it's just I've heard the rumors and the news articles, and it would not be wise to be out here alone with all the disappearances.” Bronte says back not letting Kenric get under his skin
“Aren't all those disappearances from kids thirteen and younger?” Alina asks turning her head slightly been then stopping after she winced.
“While yes, that is true I would not like to be an outlier and I suspect the rest of you don't either.” Bronte answers hanging up the phone “The others are on their way, also Alina don't move your head if you in fact do have concussion then that would not be good.” After ten minutes the rest of the group arrived, and they all headed back to camp.
Around 6'o'clock Oralie entered Alina's room
“Hey.” Alina greets from her bed sitting up from where she had been reading.
“Hi.” Oralie says back. The two sit in awkward silence for what had to be the longest minutes of Oralie's life before one spoke
“Tell me about her.” Alina says, and Oralie's head snaps up locking eyes with the other and seeing she was dead serious and offering a seat next to her, so Oralie sat down.
“What do you wanna know?” Oralie asks
“Who was she, what she was like. Whatever you feel comfortable sharing.” Alina says looking at the ceiling before she shifts her gaze to Oralie, who takes a deep breath and pulls out the photo before saying,
“She was my younger sister, Sophie Foster. She was kind and was brave. She went missing when she and a couple other of her friends came here, and they went missing.” Alina nods along
“Can I look at the picture” she asks and Oralie thinks for a minute before carfully handing it to her. Alina takes it with as much care as Oralie had given it to her and carefully inspects it. They were both silence before Alina breaks the silence asking
“Did you know the others, who were they?” Oralie shrugged her shoulders
“I didn't know them that well, but I do know they were all very brave and would make great leaders.”
“What were their names? The news doesn't really mention them now after the initial thing, they were just the missing kids.” she says
“Keefe Sencen, Biana and Fitz Vacker, Dex Dizznee, Tam and Linh Song, Stina Heks, Marella Redeck, and Maruca Chebota.” Orala replies and she remembers that Maruca had been Wylie's cousin. She wonders if he's here to see if he can find answers or at least closure like her. Alina clearing her throat broke Oralie out of her thoughts as she turned to look at her.
“I assume you didn't come up here to talk.” Alina says, and Oralie remembers why she had gone upstairs
“Oh yeah, there's a campfire downstairs if you want to join.” Oralie tells her standing up from the bed and extending a hand to her.
“That sounds lovely.” Alina says taking her hand and as they walked downstairs Oralie felt something shift, one talk wasn't going to erase their history, but they were less enemies now.
