Gon was leaning again your shoulder as he waited for killua to be done with his fight, well. It’ll end very soon, like really soon but.. he just wanted to be close to you, he doesn’t know why himself but he just does! But you did let him be close to you so.. that must be okay to be close to you right? But anyways, he watched killua win which made him smile and moved up as he started to clap for killua and you did too!

He ended up spending the day either fighting or watching the fighting, mostly killua’s and yours! It was fun to see you fighting and he loved the way you fought and and-, well. Just liked the way you carried yourself! It was nice, and cool! At least he found it was cool.. and Gon wanted you to see him as cool but he was oblivious to the fact that you already did and that meant he liked you in a.. not sort of a friend way. But! Anyways, Gon and killua met up with you in your hotel room after your fight, Gon didn’t understand why you were hiding in the bathroom but didn’t question it until you walked out with some bandages on your arms, he looked at you concerned as you said and i quote.

“It’s from the battle, they were pretty bad since he knew nen and… he sorta burned my arms..”

You explained as you got on the bed, trying to go as gentle as you possibly can as you continued talking to killua and gon. Killua didn’t wanna question you as he already knew that you weren’t lying but gon was still concerned, after all! burning?! That still gotta hurt at least! After Killua said he was going to head to bed for the night in his hotel room, gon stayed back to stay with you which killua gagged at as he thought gon was about to say something love-dovey at least! But in reality, gon checked on your arms and kept saying

“I just care about you, you know? I didn’t even notice that he was burning your arms!”

“Neither did i actually..”

You said as you winced in pain, gon dugged his finger into the bandages. You couldnt blame him as you already know that he didn’t know what the fuck he was doing. But he was trying, at least!! So you could try to help him learn any way as he kept checking before he noticed he was close to you. You didn’t even notice that! He smiled before getting off the bed, not thinking anything of it as you were blushing and Gon went to find something cold in your mini fridge that was left in the hotel room, he found one ice pack which could do at least. Gon put it on one of your bandages then unwrapped them to put the ice pack under the bandages and rewrapped it, maybe he knew a bit?? Gon kept talking about his day with killua and how cool killua was fighting, he sounded excited as he stopped and kept talking. You were listening to every single word, as you already knew this but you liked it when gon spoke, and you did like it when killua spoke but not the way you liked it when gon spoke.. You didnt know why really! You liked killua and gon as friends, you should like it when killua spoke the same as gons but- you didnt.. it’s just weird honestly.

“You know, if you ever need someone to talk to gon, im here! So is killua.”

“Eh? Why are you saying this?”

“Oh shush, i just. Sometimes you’re out of your emotions and sometimes you don’t even think with your head so. Why not just say that?”

“But, Why noww?”

“Gon, you shut up and say thank you.”

“Thank you, thank you a lot.”

Gon giggled before saying that. It warmed your heart to see him smile, his own smile was so confident, so filled with light, so filled with love. Everything sweet honestly, you wonder how did you get so even lucky to be friends with him and killua! Someone who’s so happy and someone who’s so cool, and being friends with them both?! You always felt lucky. Being friends with killua and gon did come with some weird things like, killua being a Zoldyck and you and gon and kurapika anddd leorio having to get him out of the zoldyck manison and. Gon being absolutely reckless which.. you can’t say much since killua and kurapika called you both reckless but still, he was even more reckless than you! And that has to say something at least since you even find yourself pretty reckless!

Gon was getting ready to go and that i meant is him getting his bag and already being ready but he was still talking to you which you didn’t even mind afterall, it was nice hearing him talk! Of course it was. As you were saying bye, you felt to do something bold and so. You gave gon a kiss on the cheek and said bye and closed the door as fast as you possibly can. You were blushing alot and walked to your bed, being slightly embarrassed as Gon smiled happily and went back to his hotel room. He didn’t think much of it really, well he did but he only thought that you were being sweet as a thank you and he made sure to give you a kiss on the cheek back too as he didn’t wanna leave you alone without giving it but you already shutted the door.. but he already got dressed for bed and bathed as well since that was already his usual, mean-while you were already fast sleep. Literally, after showering before gon and killua got in your hotel room and getting dressed as you put your Bandages on. You didn’t have much to do besides sleep now! Which made you pretty happy as you got to sleep after a long but great day!

ANDD done, ik its short but like- i actually dont know what To usually do for gon if im honest😭 but im already done with this and probably gonna do a part two bc it’s fun writing cute stuff!!! I love it so much bro, and i love writing for gon:D im happy abt this tbh, It’s cute and at least sweet!! Got a lot more stuff for yall so get ready<3 mwah!! Love you butterflies!!

Have ever combined prompts into 1 fic, bc I could thinkOf some funPrompt combos u could do in the future? What HP houses do u think the HxH M4 & other characters would fall in? I have a series on ao3 that contains all the prompt requests I’ve ever written on tumblr, it’s called ‘i’m yours in fractions’! 

If you mean, have I ever taken a prompt list and made a fic with plot out of it.......no I have not. Coming up with ideas for prompts is actually really hard sometimes so I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to try and write one fic spanning thirty or something different prompts that are all set in the same universe.

I’ve done prompt combos before! They’re very interesting but also hard to come up with ideas for haha

anyways i love how gon is increasingly approaching situations with his Plucky Shounen Protag Attitude in full swing, and he pretty much gets shot down every time. BUT his general determination to see killua bc killuas his FRIEND and hes gonna RESCUE HIM is still a good and pure motivating force 

like here, when hes climbing over the wall and hes like whatever i dont wanna have to deal w/being tested thats bullshit, i wanna see killua, my intentions are pure, im gonna try my luck with the dog....i was like ok yeah he’ll get over and like tame or defeat the dog and the guard will be suitably impressed bc nobodys ever done That before, and then gon will continue on to get killua 

but NOPE instead the guard calls him down and explains that gon Will Die if he tries that, and then the guard will die too for letting that happen. and gon is like oh shit my actions have consequences for people other than me, wow. 

and THEN the guard takes them in to meet the dog. and hot DAMN that is a scary creature. not even really a dog tbh. they did an excellent job making the dog Legit Scary and not just like, big and flashy looking....those eyes are so soulless, and the proportions are freaky 

and the guard says exactly what i was thinking - that gon would use his Country Boy Woodland Creature Skills to workaround the dog....but then the subversion - this creature is NOTHING like the woodland critters gon is probably used to dealing with. theres no way gon stood a chance here. the guard just saved him from a really unfortunate death 

i love all the Super Heavy Stuff in the servant house that seems so inconvenient vbhjdkfasjfld. also forgot to mention earlier but the guard guy being Absolutely Ripped was wild and kinda funny 

training montage! gon continues to be so cute. and i love so much how leorio and kurapika are like no, you rest, we’ll take care of this. good parents!!!!

Boy, oh boy I had another weird ass dream but this time it was HxH related and not snk. It was me watching supposedly new episodes of the anime that weren't following the manga and let me tell you, they were SO fucking bad that I constantly had this feeling of "no, this isn't real. They wouldnt do this shit. This hs to be a dream like theres no way?????” And would try to wake myself up because it felt way too real but also what I was watching wouldn’t be true. I would actually check my surroundings, my room and house but it felt so fucking real, everything was in place, my family was there doing their every day shit, the only weird ass surrealist shit was this new hxh ova so at some point I gave up and was like WELL I GUESS THIS SHIT IS HAPPENING until I couldn't handle how bad it was and tried to wake myself up again, this time I tried to write something but i couldnt actually write anything readable so that finally made me realize I was dreaming and that shit was so fucking relieving. You don’t get it, I was so fucking disappointed thinking that they actually did that shit to HxH... and now I’ll tell you what I saw

This new ovas started innocently enough with Killua and Alluka who had apparetly already explored a good part of the world and Killua decided that there was one place that was pretty special to him that he wanted his sister to see: Greed Island. For some reason Gon was suddenly there with them in their journey, they didn’t explain when or how he joined but I assumed it wasn’t important, it was just a time-skip and that detail didn’t matter (even tho I think that Gon reuniting with his best friend is a very important point we all would like to see). The plot got weirder when they just went there like on a plane? As if Greed Island were a physical place everyone could just go to and not a pretty exclusive game with hard access. That really annoyed me, the fact that they didn’t mention it being a game and that the only way they got to play it was by being hired by a rich man who had hired a lot of people just to have them win, like it wasn’t as if they had just gone there all willy-nilly, you know? Anyway, it just gets so much worse. Once they are in “Greed Island” Alluka just isn’t there anymore and no one fucking mentions it, which was infurating because the point was to show her that place. Killua and Gon are just there talking like “remember that one time we did all that stuff and then met Bisky blah blah” until a lady with extremely pronounced bosoms shows up and insists that she has to be with them (also her outfit didn’t leave a lot to the imagination so seeing this kind of fanservice in HxH pissed me off even more, it didn’t feel like HxH at all), Killua was like begone, thot and just wanted to run away from this creepy lady but she told them that every player (because suddenly it was a game again) had to be accompanied by one of them (there were multiple thots), she was like a guide for players and must be around them all the fucking time while making cute and provocative poses and noises and other fanservice shit. They tried to explained that they didn’t need (nor want) that because that’s not their first time there, they don’t need a guide but she couldn’t help that, it was just an update to the game and it wasn’t like she could decide what to do. They tried just to ignore her from that point on. They started to explore a forest and came across the 99′s versions of themselves which really fucked me up and of course them as well. At first, Gon and Killua thought this was some sort of trap, as if they were in a forest of illusions, you know? The guide lady didn’t explain shit. Somehow they came to the conclusion that their timelines had crossed or it was as if 2011 versions had gone to the past where the oldest versions of themselves were playing the game of the first time even though this version of the game had updates and shit they didn’t experience at that time. They argued a bit but this encounter didn’t matter a whole lot because then out of nowhere a fucking clown with light blue hair appeared and started being all creepy about Gon, it was 99s Hisoka in his first season look. Apparently this Gon could fully use nen again because Hisoka was babbling about how much powerful he was compared to the other Gon, which made the past counterparts a bit mad while Killua was like “well, if we’re you in the future of course we’re going to be stronger! Baka!” and started bikering with the other Killua while his Gon’s being harrassed. Then the “future” Hisoka showed up (aka 2011 version) who complained about how ugly the other Hisoka was and also expressed how he wasn’t pleased about him stalking his Gon when he had his own Gon and that it wasn’t his fault if that one wasn’t ripped yet. Killua got pretty mad hearing Hisoka say that Gon was his and tried to make the Hisokas fight hoping they’d kill each other or at least one would die which would be good enough ‘cause, hey! One Hisoka less is better than two Hisokas. But 2011 Hisoka explained that as much as he wanted to fight himself he couldn’t hurt the other Hisoka. It wasn’t clear if he meant that he physically couldn’t for some reason or if he was implying that 99s Hisoka was him in the past and that killing him would create a paradox, there a lot of weird fucking things left unexplained and I was pretty fucking pissed. Then Leorio appeared out of nowhere and he’s riding a motherfucking mammoth for no fucking reason and no one even asks what the fuck that is about. Why does he have a mammoth? Is it even real? Is it supposed to be part of the game? Is it actually just a nen beast? Why aren’t you studying, buddy? I don’t know, I don’t fucking know and nothing makes sense. Now comes a weird (yeah) bit in which the horny lady that was supposed to provide guidance kind of asks Leorio to feel her up to guess if she’s female or male and he refuses because that gave him Hunter Exam flashbacks which apparently are bad for him even though that time he touched the hot prisoner he was over the moon? But here it looks like the Hunter Exam flashbacks are giving him a bad case of ptsd which makes him leave all sad. Illumi also was there at one point but no one interacted with him, he was just being creepy in the background, starting at Killua but it seemed that no one even noticed him.

Leorio Paladinight is easily one of the most underrated hxh characters, both within the fandom, merch and the manga itself, because he really is the most normal out of the main four and i really think he should be appreciated more because hes a great character!

Im gonna be talking about Leorios Character, where his arc will go, and his connection with Kurapika. This is gonna be a little harder than writing Kurapika meta, since theres (sadly) a lot less Leorio content and we know a lot less about his background but ill try my best! Leorio deserves it.

Reading my Kurapika meta might make this a little more enjoyable, since i touched on Leorios and Kurapikas relationship more in depth there but you can read this post without reading it!

1 . Leorios Personality And His Past

When we first meet Leorio, hes introduced as a stupid, greedy and quick to anger Pervert, not an uncommon trope for a comedic relief character in anime. Those comedic relief characters often lack personality beyond that, a fact that is actually commented on by Kurapika.

But thanks to Kurapika, about seven chapters in, we learn more about Leorio and his motivations and as the manga goes on, it becomes obvious that there is way more to Leorio than just someone whos there for comedic relief.

Leorio grew up in (presumably extreme) poverty, loosing a friend due to their lack of money, motivating him to want to become a doctor whos able to help people for free.

"I'm a simple guy. Figured I'd become a doctor... so I could cure some kid with the same disease, tell his parents they owed me nothing! Me... A doctor! Now there's a joke!! Do you know how much it costs to even try to become a doctor? The mind boggles!! It's always about money! Always!! That's why I want it!"

Knowing this, Leorios character already gains a lot of depth. Sadly, the manga doesnt mention when exactly his friend died but the 2011 Anime follows the manga more closely so ill go with the fact that his friend died when they were younger. Most of Leorios actions can be explained with the guilt he feels over the death of his friend, how useless he often feels and the way his upbringing in poverty affected him, for example at the very beginning, the fight he picks with Kurapika stems from the fact that Kurapika didnt respect him and was acting as if he was better than him.

Leorio absolutely hates feeling like hes at a disadvantage, or like someone is looking down on him, probably due to getting little respect during his childhood due to his poverty. This also just might be the reason for him to constantly dress in a suit, something that rich, important people often wear. He often overplays his pride, puts up a facade and the way he presents himself really just screams overcompensation in so many ways

Here, he gets upset at Killua because he feels disadvantaged once again. This feeling of inferiority is often the reason for the fights Leorio has with Kurapika and in this instance Killua, he absolutely hates being looked down on. The Other reason he fights with someone early on is, because they dont value life in his eyes, for example the old woman who was asking them to choose between two human lives, toying with them per say, and not valuing them.

Leorio values human life, especially those of his friends over everything else and has a strong sense of Morality, since he did acknowledge he was in the wrong and apologized to the old lady.

When Hisoka was playing with the lives of the others during the hunter exam, as well as Leorios and his friends, Leorio got upset once again and, knowing just how powerful Hisoka was attacked him anyways with no regard for his safety.

He mentions “being toyed with” twice, something people do with people they look down on/are stronger than, where Leorios hate of feeling inferior once again comes back to show.

But, While Leorio absolutely hates being regarded worse than everyone, he also dislikes being viewed as someone whos better than everyone and gets very embarassed everytime someone compliments him/shows him positive attention. This is either due to the fact that he isnt used to it, or that he doesnt think he deserves it (note how hes always drawn with an embarassed blush).

Leorio is a very selfless man, whos ready to do everything in his power to help his friends because he doesnt want to ever lose another friend again. During the election arc, he focuses his entire speech around wanting to help Gon and uses his power to call for everyone to try and help Gon,

when Illumi manipulates Killua into killing during the hunter exam arc, Leorio is ready to give up his hunter licence for Killua,

And, being well aware of what Illumi was capable of, refused to let him through the door to protect Gon.

reassured Killua, showing his intense care for his friends (and little kids since Killua had actually not even been that nice to him),

When Killua had to fight against the serial killer, before they knew about his real strength, Leorio assured him that he wouldnt have to fight,

he willingly risked his life and let hundreds of snakes bite him just to warn Kurapika and Gon and to assure their chances of success, and before that tried to disband their team so they could still advance if he failed,

and, without any fear, they couldve sense that, stared down and yelled at the phantom troupe.

Leorio hates feeling useless and despite that, often does. He felt useless when his friend died and thus decided to become a doctor to cope with this guilt, he felt useless when Gon was sick, like his friend, and he couldnt do anything once again and he feels useless when Kurapika wont let him help him and wont let him reach out but despite that he keeps trying, to fight his guilt, to make sure that Kurapika is safe and to do his best to help.

He describes studying to become a doctor as something he does for himself, he doesnt see that notion, becoming a doctor to help people for free, as something selfless that should be admired.

He doesnt see becoming a doctor as something that he should brag with or that people should know. When he first meets Gon and Kurapika he puts up the front of wanting money to buy cars, mansions, wine, etc, all things one usually would want with money, when he really wanted the money to study so he could help people. Leorio thinks hes useless and good for nothing while everyone else fights and he just “selfishly” studies, but hes not useless at all and obviously studying to become a doctor to help the poor isnt something thats selfish at all. Maybe his motivations, to deal with his guilt over losing a friend, are a little selfish but the fact that he even blames himself and that he copes by trying to protect and value life wherever he can show that Leorio himself isnt a selfish person, hes someone whos ready to put his life on the line for his friends and others any day, despite being less reckless than the other three.

He sees Kurapikas quest for revenge as something noble, while he thinks very little of himself. Even during the election arc, after he had come into second and third place multiple times he was still convinced, somehow, that no one was gonna vote for him.

Even Ging a very experienced and talented hunter, though he is a terrible person, thinks highly of Leorio,

even copying the punch he threw at him, which Leorio, as Ging theorizes, mightve developed to get rid of tumors that are unreachable with operation, showing just how smart Leorio really is.

Leorio is someone whos been alone a lot and, while hes the least reckless and best at selfcare out of all four protagonists, had little regard for himself in especially the first arc, where he just kept jumping into dangerous situation. An explanation for that could be, that he had no one to care about and no one that cared about him before he went to take the hunter exam since weve never actually heard about any family he had or has. He could possibly be an orphan, explaining the missing mention of any family and the extreme attachment he has to Gon, Killua and Kurapika.

Him being orphaned would also perfectly fit into hunter x hunters theme of finding new family after losing another, Kurapika losing his entire clan, Gon losing his father, Killua losing his entire family except Alluka since his family is terrible and as good as dead to him and Leorio just never having really had one. So, the reason he becomes a little more responsible in arcs after the hunter exam is probably, that he finally had people to care about again, that also cared about him so now he doesnt feel like no one would miss him if he died anymore.

In short, Leorio, while being extremely selfless, caring, fearless, moral and empathic, thinks very little of himself and often feels useless and selfish. He cares most about the well being of his friends and has deep rooted feelings of guilt about the death of his friend, even though it was out of his control and he doesnt believe that his goal to be a doctor or really just he himself is deserving of any praise.

His wish to be a doctor is a mix of that extreme internalized guilt from “letting” his friend die, his selflessness that just got pushed up by the guilt and the empathy he gained by growing up in poverty and the first hand experience on why exactly free healthcare is needed.

2. Leorios Relationship With Kurapika, His Guilt, And How His Arc Could End

I wont go in depth about them here, since i already have one that multiple times but they truly are so, so important to eachother and are in many ways two sides of the same coin. Both of them have lost people close to them and theyve dealt with it in such different ways. It made Leorio want to protect life and heal people, focusing his nen around helping others (see: the punch he used being something he actually developed to deal with tumors) and it made Kurapika want to destroy life and kill people, taking revenge and destroying himself in the process, mirrored within his nen ability too (as it literally kills him to use emperor time, one hour of his life for every second). So this set-up, combined with the guilt Leorio feels over not being able to help his friend or Gon, combined with how important they are to eachother, combined with how the current arc has the both together on that boat, I feel like it would really make sense for Leorio to finally be able to save someone, furthering his character arc in a very satisfying way and also helping Kurapikas arc, letting him accept help from others and becoming less self destructive.

“Leorio is an unabashedly selfless character who very deliberately centered his life around helping others and the thought that he cant do that with Kurapika is definitely something he tries to take blame for.” (directly quoted from mags @senritsus <3) If something were to happen to Kurapika while Leorio is near and on top of that on doctor duty, where helping people is his only job, i couldnt imagine the guilt Leorio would feel. Hes always been looking out for Kurapika since they became close friends (and maybe the nearest thing to a best friend either had had in years) during the hunter exam and Kurapika did always try to be someone who calmed Leorio and helped him be more rational, though that changed when he began his down spiral after killing his first person and they drifted further apart and Leorio took on the job of calming down Kurapika.

Kurapika is in desperate need of saving and having Leorio be that person to save him would be so perfect for both of their arcs.

This arc already set up the tension in their relationship at the very beginning, or atleast before the succession war began and i do believe it has to be resolved (relatively) soon, especially because of this (once again my favorite) panel, showing Leorio as one of the four people Kurapika cares most about.

And, to quote my Kurapika meta post about this panel, Hes thinking about moments where they made him happy/made him care about them, Gon and Killua with their food fight in the park where they cheered him up and Leorio on the phone. Its him calling to check up on Kurapika. Kurapika really did appreciate it so much, even if he doesnt show it, even if he keeps pushing Leorio away. And he does care about them, even if he doesnt want to! The way Leorio expresses care for his friends, which is very vocal and direct, is so good for Kurapika because even if he still cant really believe or accept it, its still something he appreciates, somehow. I am not (!) saying that they will definitely end up with eachother but they are definitely incredibly important to the others character development and i dont think Togashi will forget about that.

HxH99 episode 30 

Okay. God. I couldnt even stop watching that scene to say anything about it along the way i was just that fuckin entranced. I think i prefer this to the 2011 version, and GOD do i adore that one too. Looking back, i really kinda glossed over everything that illumi says to killua in their fight when i watched 2011. Its all so... fucked. Its just fucked.

ESPECIALLY this line, which is (unless its in the manga?) unique to 99. Illumi’s basically saying that even if killua can resist the (according to him, inevitable) urge to see if he can kill gon, he’ll get bored of him and end up treating him like shit anyways. Im assuming thats why the scene of him specifically saying that he never gets bored around gon was in episode 26? Bc neither of those were in 2011. The gon dog comparison is also a recurring thing in 99 but its just Upsetting now. Also if... that one drama cd is canon and illumi is specifically using a dog simile just for the extra pain im gonna die. Oh well. 

Another thing i love about this scene is killua’s expressions while illumi tries to get him to fight or forfeit. Like, they were great in 2011, but god he just looks terrified here and im so upset.

And as much as i dig killua’s eyes just like, changing style sometimes in 2011, i am absolutely in love with his eyes just becoming totally black like this, ESPECIALLY since theyre specifically comparing his eyes to illumi’s rn by cutting to his face like that. Really just adds to the idea that illumi is like, 80% of the reason why killua is Like This. Though im pretty sure 99 doesnt make it far enough in the plot to address the needle? So idk how intentional it actually was but im calling it a sexy decision for now.

Also leorio is one of like 3 sensible adults in this whole series because apparently no one over the age of 18 maybe thought that killua being completely unresponsive while standing probably wasnt good news 

Okay and. Okay not to ruin all the serious shit i just said but. Killua killing bodoro is a bit more graphic than in 2011, but the lighting is WAY darker in this scene so i guess thats how they got away with it. What im saying is, in 2011 his hand is bloody but empty, but here if u brighten the image its pretty clear he’s holding something, and im just gonna assume he tore out bodoro’s heart, thats just something hes pretty good at. 

And also the narrator mentions that bodoro was taken to the hospital, but died. So like... did they leave the heart behind? Did killua just hand it to somebody before walking out? Was one of these bastards somehow brave enough to walk up to him right now and ask him for the heart? I have a lot of questions

And here we go, final round, we watched the last episodes of the anime today! This is probably my last time making a list of those, so yay. Here we are now :D 

-We played a game of Card Against Humanity before watching the final episodes. A. pointed out that it was the only way to prepare themselves to Hisoka.

-A. wants Morel as chairman and Cheadle as vice-chairman for now

-as Killua and Alluka entered the car, A: “i don’t feel great about it...”

-as Hisoka is thinking about who to kill: A: “he’s the only one who makes plans to make himself the most enemies..”

-Killua to Illumi: “if you hurt Alluka, I will not consider you my brother anymore.” A: “which is.. already far more than he deserves”

-A: “why do we get a crotch shot on Hisoka...”a

-When Cheadle proposed Leorio as Chairman, A.’s eyes went wide.

-A. mentioned she loves Cheadle after Cheadle started to say she will not let Pariston do lke he wants

-A. and T. are both sociology/economy students and they have to pay attention to politics and A. went “it’s terrible that this arc is just like my real life.”

-I kinda went on explaining Leorio’s develpment in this arc and at some point I ended up saying “The thing is that Leorio is driven by the fact he couldn’t save his friend in the past. When he got into med school he thought he was close to his goal but therefore he wasn’t there for Gon, and I think it panics him. The sudden realization that one of his friend was in danger and that he still can’t do anything. And I think it’s the kind of things that would make him now more careful or not letting it happen again.” And A. went “well he didn’t pick his friends well for that. Good luck with Kurapika.” She also mentioned that since Kurapika is slowly killing himself, Leorio will probably kill him first because of how hard Kurapika makes it. I have good friends.

-There was a huge silence when Gon’s body was unveiled. they both swore because of how shocked they were.

-A:”... I don’t like when Pariston smile”

-A: “Illumi needs to change his friends...” Me: “you’re blaming hisoka??” A: “I’im sorry but laughing in weird position over bad stuff happening to people comes from Hisoka.”

-As the door opened, they started squeeing at Leorio’s reaction understanding Gon was alive

-A: “the hunters don’t deserve Leorio, he’s too good.”

-T: “well now it makes two more people to vote for Leorio with Morel and Gon.”

-They were saying the whole hug was adorable ;;-;;

-A: “it’s incredibly funny to me that we see Gon and Leorio hug and Leorio be worried for Gon while his dad is basically doing nothing in the room.”

-As Pariston clapped, A: “can someone shut him the hell up.”

-Ging: “you were too weak” A: “Leorio can you punch him again.” T: “Worst dad ever.” A: “Please can someone punch him again.”

-As the audience started to yell at Ging, T: “The audience is us.” And they laughed hard when the audience went “LEORIO SHOULD PUNCH YOU AGAIN”

-A. is happy bc a while back she said Kite’s Nen must have been an idea of Ging, and Ging confirmed it dkjhfd

-As Pariston retired from being Chairman, they both yelled “WHAT”

-A: “... why are the characters of this manga on drugs.”

-Leorio: “I’m sorry I wasn’t there to help” A: “Leorio you couldnt’ have done much aside from psychological help, don’t beat yourself up.” Me: “but it would have helped a lot though” T: “ye but if it was to get killed, i’m glad he was out of it.”

-A: “also like they have phones. can’t they texts?? Isn’t texting possible?” T: “Hisoka texted once. It exists.”

-They were very emotional during the whole scene with Killua, Alluka and Nanika ;;;

-T: “A Koala Hitman? sign me up.”

-A: “The Koala tale is cool but it’s long...”

-As Kite was blackmailing the Koala A: “She’s... creepy. Are we sure she’s Kite?”

-A: “Gon and Killua reunited? But I thought they were still not okay by the end of the serie?”

-About the guide near the World Tree T: “He has a symetry eyebrow/mustaches that is incredible”

-As they thanked themselves and that the frame was tight on their eyes A: “Now kiss. No but when you frame like that you expect something they want to kiss.” Me: *takes notes* T: “Ahah it was note worthy” A: “it’s what Gon meant when he said “If I stay I...”, he was about to kiss him”

-A: “Will we see Kurapika at least one second again just to remind us “hey remember me i was in half of the show””

-So they separated. And they were emotional, but A., who follow my blog, went “well at least they left in good terms” T: “Well I mean they didn’t even “leave” they just moved on, but it’s not like they were leaving each other.” A: “Phonecalls still exists. I mean they’re not out of contact.” T: “And everyone freaks out about it? I mean it’s like when they parted ways with Kurapika or Leorio, it doesn’t mean bad.”

-A: “I suppose Leorio will create a Nen technique to put a phone on Kurapika so he will answer his phonecalls no matter what. Can’t escape now.”

-A, as the flashback rolled: “oh who’s that blond guy with a blue cape?? never heard of him again.”

-A: “Also just like that, will we even mention Gotoh’s death? No?” T: “It’ll be funny but genuinely, who is Gotoh?”

-As Gon escaladed the World Tree, A, mimicking Ging: “ah yes I’ll risk my son’s life once more before the end”

-T, mimicking Ging: “Son, I bring you to the biggest tree in the world. It’s the only thing as big as how stupid i am.”

-They were totally in love with the chickens in the end omg. They yelled at Ging when he yelled at them.

-As Ging talks about his motivations and all: T: “It’s funny, it’s almost like he’s not an asshole.”

-A, mimicking Ging: “Me and your mom, we couldn’t work. Iw as an archeologist... she was a rock. Communication wasn’t always good.” T: “When Gon is being too stubborn he would say “Don’t be like your mother!”

-T: “It’s nice how Ging is always helping the people he likes but is never there for his son” A: “His son isn’t with the people he likes”

-As Ging talks about a bigger world ahead T: “They’re not talking about another dimension right..? because next step would be timetravel.” Me: “That’s what we call The Dark Continent.” A, who follows my blog and is slightly spoiled: “HOLY FUCK.” T: “What?” A: “IT’S GONNA BE A MESS.”

-Ging: “Many are scared to open the Pandora box.” A: “So he’ll do it right? This man is a danger.”

-As the credit started rolling, and Gon send a card of him to Mito: T: “It looks like a Yugioh card. Congratz ma’am your son became a yugioh card.”

-As Morel and Knov drink in memory of Netero, A: “Are they really drinking champagne into shot glasses what the hell”

-As We see Kurapika finally, A. went a little quiet as she said “It’s still so disturbing... He doesn’t look okay at all.”

So... we finished the show :D

They both loved it so so much. They are both looking forward to read the manga and see more, because they’re really curious (and they really want to see the Chrollo V Hisoka fight)

A. mentioned she really loved complex stories with complex characters, and that they sure as hell didn’t expect the story to go that direction. It was a wild ride and they both really enjoyed it.

They are glad the next arc will focus more on Pika too, since they kinda missed him, and they are okay not seeing the kids again since we spent a long while with them. They are not too shaken by them parting since they got away in good term and are still in contact, so they are far more worried about Kurapika since he does look like he’s getting worse in worse. (also I’m pretty sure A. is spoiled at least on Emperor Time because of my blog so she knows he’s not okay and is even more worried.)

So ye, they are curious for more, and were really into it. I’m so glad ;;-;;

dont get me wrong its kinda funny to call the main 4 boys fucking idiots but its a litel scary how smart all of them are. leorio is premed and very good at doin medical junk, killua, kurapika is extremely mature and hes a quick thinker (e.i he was the first one to understand what the test with the old lady was-- it was before the hunter exams happened-- also leorio figured the test out quickly as well but didnt even realise he did), +gon is very thoughtful and compassionate, and he is a great strategist (e.i the fight with netero in the blimp before the trick tower thing happened)

AH! i really dont think so!

itd be a cop-out for resolving his trauma like sure it could happen but its be pretty lazy writing and togashi is known to be a perfectionist! also imagine what would happen if kurapika, his best friend, died on the boat he had doctor duty on. another friend he couldnt save. that would not lead to anything good!!!!

leorio and kurapika are very...emotionally constipated around eachother, we do see leorio try to act normal but i dont think hes letting his true feelings show like hes obviously very upset about kurapika not answering his calls and not visiting gon and not giving him his email while kurapika is...kurapika... we see how glad he is to have leorio near him again, he tells mizai but to leorios face? kurapika tries to use his cold facade to push him away, to make leorio hate him so him dying will hurt leorio less but thats obviously not working

the next time i see them interacting is either, when a doctor for kurapika or woble is needed and leorio is the only person kurapika trusts enough to call (kurapika would need one because of his stupid nen thing plus bill already BAITED us. and woble would need one bc of that assassin camilla has that might make her sick) OR when they reach the dark continent and might have to part ways..ive briefly talked about this but i think kurapika might not be able to go on the dark continent because he might just loose his nen OR to protect woble because if oito dies hes not gonna take a BABY on the dark continent (possible leorio centric arc...i feel like it mightve been hinted at with kurapika saying how his abilities arent suited for the dark continent and how excited leorio was to go when cheadle called him)

so the interactions we could see are going to be the same level of kind of awkward emotional tension we saw them having last arc... if leorio goes to the real dark continent on his own there might just be some kind of emotional scene where kurapika gets mad at leorio like kinda like this scene way back (remember: leorio does end up going alone):

this arc has a lot of similarities to the hunter exam arc already like everyone kind of is whwre they started: gon is on whale island, killua is with family (but good this time) and leorio and kurapika are on a boat sailing on an ocean of emotional turmoil...

there was a post about the choice quiz from the old lady way back and how kurapika and leorio might have to make a choice and i think kurapika might have to make a choice between woble and leorio (and chooses woble because leorio has a better chance of protecting himself than a BABY)

so um long story short i think their interactions are gonna be as overly polite awkward was theyve been until kurapika (or maybe leorio even) snaps and all the repressed emotion comes pouring out

pairo

a kurapika character study and a speculation on his future

the first time he thinks about specifically pairo in a while is, when the little kid hes just met jumps off the boat to save the sailor.

he and leorio grab hold of gon before the ocean swallows him and he cant help but think back to when pairo grabbed hold of him, damaging his legs and eyes in the fall because then, no one had grabbed them.

it makes him wonder what pairo would be like if he was still alive today - a stupid thought, he knows.

he‘ll never find out.

he tags along with gon.

he tells himself that its not because he reminds him of pairo in a way.

leorio joins them, too.

they fight some more, petty arguments that adults wouldnt have.

probably, because they arent, even if they pretend to be.

they reach the hunter exams.

he tells leorio.

not every detail but enough. and he finds out, that leorios lost a friend too - maybe gon reminded him of that lost friend too. it hurts to be reminded so much of pairo but he deals with it.

he distracts himself.

as always.

maybe leorios sillyness helps.

he cant be weak right now. they reach trick tower.

he sees the spider tattoo.

he KNOWS its fake but its enough.

leorio deals with the aftermath.

then, no pairo for a few days.

they finish trick tower and take on the island.

he finds leorio, then gon finds them.

its only when both of them nearly die, that he is reminded of the loss hes experienced.

but gon doesnt loose hope so neither does he.  

its so painfully pairo, to not loose hope. they all get through the challenge, him, gon, leorio, and killua too. hanzo breaks gons arm.

he doesnt understand how someone could just break a kids arm.

both he and leorio. later, killuas older brother reveals himself.

he wont let him hurt any children.

leorio and hanzo stand by his side. gon wakes up, they go to get killua, and once again gon reminds him of pairo too much.

then, separation.

he thinks less of individual loss.

revenge takes up his mind without any distractions around.

he learns nen, makes his chains, gets the job, goes to york new city.

people tell him the revenge will destroy him

he doesnt really care.

he thinks about them sometimes but not too much, he needs to stay focused.

melody knows now, too.

shes trustworthy he guesses.

no way to hide it from her either way.

he doesnt really care.

its september first and he doesnt go to meet them. leorio calls and he tells him hes busy with work.

he kills his first spider and its worse than he thought itd be.

he prays and for the first time in months, thinks about pairo again.

the spiders know him as the chain user now and theres no going back.

he doesnt really care.

nothing else in his life but revenge now.

too much happens, but he gets the eyes and thats what counts.

the spiders fake their death and he meets the others in the park.

he didnt realize how much hed missed them and laughs, for the first time in a long while.

he finds out that the spiders are alive.

gon leorio and killua insist on helping and he cant stop them.

he knows hed care if something happened to them and he hates it.

he takes the leader.

they send pakunoda.

he binds both of their nens.

he falls into a fever and pairos there again.

he sees him in hallucinations and the guilt kills him.

if hed been more careful and stayed away from the cliff, pairo wouldnt have saved him, wouldnt have been hurt, wouldve been able to leave to the outside with him, would still be alive.

its a selfish wish.

the survivors are the ones that bear most of the pain he knows this.

its selfish to wish this fate on another person, just so he wouldnt be alone.

he never did find that doctor for pairo.

when he wakes up from agony filled fever dreams, for only minutes at a time, leorio is there.

melody too sometimes.

often, leorio is sleeping, leaned against the wall next to him but when he isnt, leorio makes him drink water and swallow pills.

it hurts his throat.

cant he just go back to sleeping?

melody tells him that the nostrade girl is alright.

he wont loose his job.

he‘ll get the eyes.

all of them.

thanks to leorio, his fever goes away.

he thanks him.

but he wonders if leorio wouldve been able to help pairos eyes and legs.

leorio lost a friend and dealt with it by doing his best to not let anyone ever die again.

he lost his entire clan and dealt with it through pure destruction.

if it had only been pairo alone, maybe hed be training to be a doctor right now, too.

but he isnt that noble.

he knows that everyone was right and that the revenge is making him rot from the inside but theres no going back now.

hes gone back to not caring again.

its better to not care.

when he leaves, he doesnt tell gon and killua.

theyre kids, they shouldnt be involved in all this.

he cant get away without telling leorio, though.

he lies and tells him, theyll all reunite soon, but he knows they wont.

its better that way.

leorio pulls melody aside and tells her to take care of him.

he pretends he doesnt hear them.

how selfrighteous of leorio.

he goes back to his job.

starts hunting down the remaining eyes.

keeps climbing the ranks in the nostrade family.

hes good and they know.

leorio tries calling him, a lot.

he never picks up.

why wont he just take the hint.

its better to not get close.

he doesnt admit it, but its nice to know that leorio cares.

he misses them.

the chimera ants happen and he hears on the news.

it doesnt concern him.

leorio still tries to call.

its the chairman he thinks.

leorio tries to call him a few times, again.

he sends texts too but he doesnt read them.

he doesnt have time.

he cant get close.

they shouldnt get close.

its too late, he figures, so maybe „they shouldnt get any closer than they already are“ is a better wording.

he hasnt thought about anything but revenge for so long.

he hasnt thought about just pairo for a while.

its nicer that way.

replacing any sadness with anger keeps him from crying.

mizai shows up.

joining the zodiacs seems useful to get the remaining eyes.

he finally answers one of leorios calls.

he cant give him his email.

too close.

mizai knows enough already.

hes thankful to, and for leorio.

he doesnt get why leorio still does all this, after everything he has tried to push him away.

then, prince woble.

she has little personality yet, shes a baby, but exactly because of that, shes the least rotten person hes met.

he sees the fear in queen oitos eyes and he promises her that he will protect them.

he doesnt lie for a change.

again, everything happens so fast.

they board the ship, everything spirals out of control.

if he keeps using emperor time, he‘ll be dead by the end of the week and he knows this.

leorio is there too but he doesnt see him.

he blacks out once, because he overused nen and bill nearly calls a doctor.

he wouldnt admit it, ever, he feels selfish to even think it, but it wouldve been nice to see leorio again.

theres too much going on to think of pairo.

a few princes die, others learn nen.

a big fight breaks out a few decks under his but he doesnt care, he focuses on prince woble and protecting her.

then, queen oito dies.

he feels it in every last bit of his body.

they were still connected through emperor time and he feels the sensation of death.

hes with melody and bill when it happens.

they were on break.

how stupid of him to think he deserves to rest.

he uses his last strenght to tell them that they need to get to queen oito and he sees bill sprinting away before his vision goes dark.

he doesnt die.

why should he, his body is still in more or less good condition.

but he knows death now.

when he wakes up, leorio is there.

panic overcomes him but leorio tells him to rest and that prince woble is alive.

leorio looks so, so angry, that a mother had to die to protect a baby from a unnecessary war over a stupid throne.

he would be too, but hes just become too good at turning his emotions off.

he tells him that hisoka killed most of the spiders until the woman with pink hair landed the final blow on him.

its only her and killuas younger sibling now.

he feels weirdly empty, and relieved at the same time.

its the most hes felt in a while.

he gets better fast and leaves again.

leorio tries to hug him goodbye but he pretends he doesnt notice and turns away.

leorio tells him to be careful.

„okay“ he lies.

then the sucession war is over.

somehow, prince woble is still alive and he is too.

thanks to leorio, probably.

hes gotten a lot stronger and better at using nen.

prince fuugetsu has the throne now, offiially.

shes griefstrucken but shes managing.

hes thankful to her kind nature and melodys newfound connection to her.

without her, they couldnt have faked prince wobles death.

then he goes to retrive the eyes from prince tsnedderichs chamber, leaves woble in melodys care for a bit.

leorio insists on coming with him, as emotional support.

he tells him he doesnt need it but leorio insists.

he regrets not being more forceful.

he regrets so, so much

its pairo again.

its his head.

the prince had his head in a jar, the middle piece to the missing eyes.

he stares into pairos dead eyes and for the first time in years, actually cries.

he thought that by now, he might have forgotten how to cry but he hasnt.

he screams and cries and everything just spills out.

he just cant grasp how someone could murder a child, cut off their head, and sell it.

he cant.

he hates how he cares.

leorio tries to hold him and he pushes him away, this time literally, but leorio is physically stronger than him.

he cries and punches and kicks leorio but he doesnt let go.

eventually he blacks out and he guesses that leorio carried him back to the med bay because thats where he wakes up.

leorio is once again asleep in a chair next to him.

theres a huge box next to him and kurapika knows whats in it.

oh the irony of it all.

finally a doctor who maybe couldve helped pairo and pairo is even here.

but its too late and pairo is dead and gone and its his fault.

he knows the spiders are truly at fault but you cant get rid of guilt that sits deep in your soul that easily.

he just lays there and thinks, of pairo and everything thats happend since he swore revenge, now eight years ago.

pairo made him promise to have fun, back then, before he left.

he never got to ask him if he did have fun.

melody comes in, holding woble and her eyes widen with happiness when she see that hes awake.

he holds a finger to his mouth and points at leorio.

she just smiles, sits down on the other chair.

then hands him woble.

the prince is sleeping, too.

she smiles in her sleep.

he looks at the sleeping baby, looks at melody, the sleeping leorio, thinks of gon and killua who are waiting back home, and smiles back at the child.

if pairo could still ask if he had fun, kurapika would truthfully say yes.

So! New sessions with friends! we watched from 105 to 117! So we watched the first part of the attack on the castle session, from Knov infiltrating the palace  up to after the “Since it’s none of your business” scene and Knuckle coming back to fight Youpi!

-A: “I’m trying to avoid the spoilers of your blog. It’s hard it’s like Hisoka avoiding Gon’s punch. So far all i know is the last thing about Kurapika, it was hard to ignore… i know Leorio is getting some place with i dont know what and Zodiac stuff, i dont know what it is. and i know Meruem died like he lived: heterosexual”

 -T: “Knov’s plan is good… but it’s as tight to play as that other guy’s thong.” T: “….. it’s gonna end up on tumblr right?” 

 -As knov uses his power to behead an ant, T: “fuck thats cool!! if you could do that in assassins creed…”

 -A, at the begining of Morel v Leol: “i knew Morel was a Metalhead. it showed.” 

 -A: “i want a blog full of out of context picture of hxh” 

 -A: “why are they fighting on orangina”

-they squeed when ikalgo was back. T finds his hat cute akdhkd

 -They started laughing at the King asking for his name to the royal guards

 -We made a pause to prepare some tea. as we did i joined T. in the kitchen and he jumped bc he didnt hear me come. direct reaction: T: “tf why did you supress your nen”. my friends are dorks 

 -Morel: “who could have hurt the king? ”  A: “himself, like a huge moron” 

-A: “omg Pouf is a Butterfree ” 

 -A: “i don’t think I’m reassured to see “you can try” on the old man”

-T: “where the fuck is the old man, he’s supposed to be the one attacking the King and we’ve never seen him again, we’re ten minutes to the attack on the castle”

 -At Netero’s training: A: “what was his motivation, did someone break up with him” 

 -T. considers Netero’s fighting style is really too cool. he loves it. they both argue he’s really good looking while young 

-Netero: “I’ll teach you if you give me stuff to eat”, T: “god thats me” 

 -as the attack starts: A: “Chloé i don’t like your smile i’m scared” 

 -A: “Killua is like in Good Omens: “It’s a family business. we gotta go” 

 -they were extremely quiet at the realization Komugi was wounded, during the scene we discover it. They were really into the intensity of the moment, it was seriously chilling

 -T: “it’s fun because after all those slowmo the opening of the episode is like at normal speed”

 -A: “i don’t mind the slowmo. they make clear that it is because too many things are happening at once. although i do hope it speds up a little…” 

 -they find Youpi disgusting and they yelled “no” when they thought he was gonna kill Morel

 -they really like Morel and Knuckle and Shoot and when Shoot hit Youpi to get Morel’s weapon, they cheered and want them to be safe forever 

 -Me: “it’s interesting how killua kept telling Gon to stay focused on Pitou but still go out of his way to protect Ikalgo while Gon stays motivated, you would expect the opposite”  A:“tbh i dont care as long as the octopus is okay” 

 -when Killua kills the guy to protect Ikalgo, T: “you call that supressed their ability to fight, I’m calling that murder. he overkilled.” 

 -A: “Pouf kinda looks like Kurapika.” Pouf: *acts dramatic* A: “okay no never mind” 

 -A: “no but Pouf is pretty and it’s a fucking butterfly I’m jealous” 

 A: “couldnt they teach him another music to play with his violin im.” 

 -Narrator: “pouf is at the limit of fanatism” T: “ye, on the other side of the limit, he’s totally into it” A:“i’d say he’s in love”

 -A: “i almost pity Pouf” T: “well he’s the least cruel one..” 

 -as Gon sees the king A: “no Gon!! it’s too big for you!!” 

 -same scene: A: “i don’t like Gon’s look… Killua if you want to knock him down it’s now”

 -T: “A DRAGON. I always side with the dragon. *sings* calm on my dragon ” 

 -in the “let’s go” scene: A: “i dont like Gon’s look… i dont like Killua’s look… I’m so scared of what’s gonna happen it’s… scary.” 

 -A: “i don’t like the idea that they’re gonna have to chose if they want to kill Pitou and Komugi or not… I don’t like the idea they’ll be in the same room as Pitou anyway…” 

 -A: “Pouf is a fucking pokemon”

-Narrator: “Shoot fights recklessly withot caring for his life” A: “at the same time when you learn from Gon…”

 -T: “let’s be real tho we’re just all waiting for the fight between the king and the sensei” 

-A, at Welfin: “i… honestly don’t know what to say about that thong tho.” 

 -Gon and Killua just arrived in Pitou’s room. they are scared at Gon’s eyes  

-Killua: “Pitou is like a mother protecting her kid” A: “*immiting Killua* “oh the complete opposite of mine” 

 -as Gon’s eyes are empty: T: “he’s really scary…” A:“he reminds me of illumi…” 

 -They are seriously scared for Gon. now they understand why i’m upset the anime removed Kite. They realize from what I explained that it was a stronger blow for Gon and the audience to know Kite from the start.

 -The “since it’s none of your business” scene just happened. (also it was well translated in the French sub version so yay). They are. speechless. but they react the same way i did the first time, ie, more worried for Gon’s mental state than anything. 

 -Gon: “I’m fine” T: “he’s not fine” 

 -We discussed a bit about Gon’s and Killua’s mental health so far and development and they really agree with me. they are concerned for both, since eventually it would have been solved if they talked, since neither talked about their troubles up to that point. but they feel for both of them and see how this happened, and i didnt have to argue too much about it, I’m glad. 

 -We rementioned the gi arc. T: “oh the good old times where the only problems were bombs.”  Me: “Do you get now why i laughed when A. said the gi arc didnt have lot of stakes” A: “now we have them……” 

 -They miss Kurapika and Leorio still. we all agree it would have been better at least for the kids’s mental health if they had been there… 

 -T: “why the FUCK Zeno is coming back home by feet” 

 -Cheetu teasing Zeno, saying he’ll fight against Zeno, A: “no but i almost feel bad for cheetu seeing how unfair and unballanced it is”  

-they gasped as Silva arrived. A. had her hands on her mouth in amazement. A: “that’s not even an ability it’s just summon the son” 

 -As Shoot and Knuckle talk about going back to fight Youpi : "they have... a really misplaced pride" 

 -Shoot: "Please hit him for me" T: "no no you misheard he said bring me to the hospital. go see the octopus" A: "I know an octopus, he knows a guy"

So we had to stop, and it was... amazing. They were invested in the fight, understood the struggles, and are truly looking forward to more, it makes me happy!
