the way that, if you took away her armor and the two or three lines referencing it, you would literally never know that sabine was a mandalorian in the ahsoka show. filoni completely stripped her of her culture (and personality) and never gave her a meaningful scene talking about the destruction of mandalore or her family. all in favor of giving her a bad and poorly executed padawan storyline, because apparently a character can’t be interesting unless they’re a jedi

can’t stop thinking about the after school special gifset and the difference between sam walking into the teacher's room as an adult and visibly beat up vs being a child and not beat up at all. and like this means Nothing in terms of authorial intent but to me it’s so telling of everything that’s happened - he’s a kid (and this is when you’d probably expect him to be visibly injured) and he’s finally being told that it’s okay if he really does want to get Out. but he’s still there ten years later and he’s talking to this teacher again and now he’s beat up. his lip’s split from the same bully (after being split by dean nine episodes before too) and it’s not only the same as what he didn’t want, it’s so much worse.

Something about Aftermath that I really love no matter how many times I rewatch it (or the series as a whole lol) is that extremely hopeful and excited feeling in the last scene. It’s nothing but potential, open roads and open skies. They can go anywhere, do anything, be anything. I know pretty much everything that happens after they shoot off into hyperspace by heart now, they’re going to face so much hardship and tragedy alongside all the good things, but that hopeful feeling never fades whenever I watch the stars in Omega’s eyes. The creators really make you feel everything she’s feeling about this new adventure.

Tucked in at the bottom under all the folded clothes, Saavik had hidden away her knife. Spock stood in the privacy of his cabin turning it in his hand, remembering every word of their good-bye.

I love Ibara and Yuzuru so much. Obviously for all the deep reasons because I’m insane about their lore, but also in the very simple way that most of the stories they appear together in are either “ugh I hate this guy so much, why do I have to be near him? I’m going to kill him. He’s here to ruin everything” or they’re *hunts him down to pester him* *thinks about their joint past* *actively looks for him* *reflects on their bond* *tracks him down for entertainment* *psychoanalyses him in an internal monologue*

also thinking about the inherent homoeroticism in passages like garak saying that he’d never been in a “manlier, more attractive presence” and garak being on the wire during lokar’s interrogation meaning anytime lokar assaulted him all garak felt was blinding pleasure-
