Pages from trying to keep a little sketchbook-scrapbook type thing going for two weeks lol. I gave myself specific rules in hopes they might all end up more cohesive/consistent seeming, but alas, scribbly chaos reigns, it seems

#sketchbook #scrapbook #Actually I feel like these are kind of incomprehensible in photo form like.. In person holding the book its easy to look at #but as images on this scale I feel like there's so much tiny little text and small scribles and stuff you'd have to 'right click > open #image in new browser tab > zoom in' just to actually really see the thing. which for 7 images is excessive lol.. so. probably not the best #medium for sharing really but. I suppose I thought they might look cooler lined up next to each other. The whole part of using a #limited color palette is so that maybe they kind of seem to have more consistent color schemes or something throughout. but I dont #know if they look all that 'related' or not. I think these types of challenges I have always sucked at because I am a being of clutter and #excess. I can't just do like one little simple nice looking design and have that Crisp Neat calligraphy with evenhanded perfect lines #and perfect symmetical composition and etc. etc. Like some poeple post very aesthetically clean and cohesive looking sketch #pages or something but I simply cannot hold back the brain impulse to add more. more. more. Fill every single blank space with color #or a little drawing or a sticker or something. I take away 500 things and there are still a million there. Even when I thik I'm being #'simplistic' I'm still usually being 2x more complicated and cluttered than the standard or whatever lol. I guess thats clear from my #outfits/costumes though too. Like whatever that saying is from that person about something like 'before you leave the house take off one #more accessory. you dont need it' for me is like.. 'before you leave the house. add 10 more accessories. and 6 more layers. and another'#AAANyway. I wonder if also maybe some people would try to plan theirs in a way to look good or something or like.. plot things on the page #before placing them. I did sometimes have a theme for a day kind of (like day 10 I ended up finding a few gold and green things and then #was like.. hey... what if I looked for a few other things and only used these colors today') but aside from that I was just slapping down #stickers randomly and working around them to fill the page. Maybe a lot of neat minimalistic asthetic design is about planning and #having a Vision set ahead of time. instead of just complete random whatever. doodling whilst watching youtube videos or eating lunch. It's #a miracle actually I've managed to not spill any food on the book the whole time. anyway.. I do wish the highlighter really showed up. the #scanner kind of makes the colors look VERY different to irl. But also it got much clearer images than just camera pictures of pages. alas..#..Still oddly enjoy the phrase 'Salisbury Steak gently kissed with industrial pollutants'#probably my favorite section of 'gluing random papers and things onto the page' lol #Also I wonder if it's super obvious that I literally never ever use references when I draw (save for the few freakish looking youtube #face sketches) since everyone is always in the same positions and looking very similar ghhb. This could have been a good opportunity to #work on not solely drawing from my mind and try to do more Dynamic Experimental scribbles. NO. Same exact eye for the 90th time #be upon ye. But I guess it was meant to be casual 'daily doodles'. True 'practice' would make it seem too effortful like a full project. hm #(lol the one decimated pencil in the set... never hand me a writing utensil. i will passively destroy it somehow. shaving the sides of a #pencil off with a knife or snapping a pen in half as a nervous fidget without even realizing i've done it. sorry to the drawing implements)

I do completely adore xyr attitude though... I imagine xe came from a strict family. Wasn't really "a choice" to pursue higher education (presumably at a particularly prestigious university), just an expectation. Performed... excellently? At least until xe broke under a lifetime of pressure. Also at the first taste of autonomy xe speedran one thousand piercings got huge chunky goth boots and then decided xe needed to go die in I mean Explore the labyrinth.

And finally! For reference!

The Determined voice has a bit of a soft-spokenness, to it. Which. Combined w the portrait's very somber expression, makes Zephyr's range of expressions I doodled extremely funny tbh. The serious-silly balance..... at xyr fucking limit. Sooooo put together about it, though (lying). With an award winning smile! (TRUE! Very cutes!)

Hm.

I don't usually talk about the things about Kliff that actually annoy me because my primary goal is to increase Kliff appreciation, but something I kinda don't like is that his palette basically has every color of the rainbow in it.

Not that I have anything against rainbows and he makes it work, but it makes doing anything "minimal" with him difficult.

#is kliff is gay? (joking. except not really because he is clearly bisexual)#i think the only color he doesn't have is a solid 'blue' but he has 'teal' from his eyes and tablet #which is between blue and green. so yeah. he basically has every color of the rainbow in his design #anyway. i started thinking about this because i was trying to make an alternate design for him #that would help him fit into my aesthetics better #similar to when i designed the malt shop series #but with less alterations to his outfit (though I could probably change that up too. maybe i'll use one of his concept designs)#anyway i decided to limit his palette to just 3 colors (hopefully i'll post it soon)#as you can imagine if i'm making it to suit my aesthetics #there's a lot of pink~

Me: I'm gonna stop procrastinating and create a Les Mis comic! Finally, I'll draw something related to the main story! Me: Okay step one is doing in depth research on the historical boats of the period (similar to the Orion), what these ships and their harbors would've looked like, and creating an extremely high-effort historically accurate 3D model reflecting that research-- Me: oh god. this is why Victor Hugo does all those history tangents...ive been in the fandom long enough to attempt to start making my own Digressions

#really though I think blocking things out in Blender has made illustration 200000000000 times easier for me #so if I adapt the ship Orion sequence #itll take some time to model a ship #it'll take a Lot of time #but once that's over I could crank out a comic adaptation relatively quickly?#because it's just doing yeah some painstaking handmade linework #but the general lighting/color palette/perspective of the background would be there #and the model wouldn't have to be perfect if I'm just using it as a base/painting over it #my other Easier adaptation I might do as a test first #is Jean Valjean's weird trippy dream sequence before Arras #v beautiful evocative imagery that would be fun to draw #and it wouldnt be complicated either #because it's just 'a town where all the houses are the same'#anyway

hu tao, also gold accents, mahogany wood, smoky things, spider lilies unfurling in the dark. but it would be cool to edit her art so it’s more high contrast (darker outfit and hair) with stark black plum branches against winter snow

chongyun, white, clouds, wisps of chill wind. fluffy things and a big fur coat

majority red palette ningguang would also be cool

the more i draw bny the more i realize im simultaneously the most and least qualified to draw them 🙃 the ref i spent 3 months on has some flaws that become prevalent while drawing (like the legs like how tf do you connect those things up without looking silly) If i decide to redo it it will definitely be a lot more causal than the last one bc i just don't have the energy anymore to go crazy like that

i'm also just finding a lot of my artwork kind of stiff still, i don't feel like i do them justice a lot of the time with how i imagine their shapes and form

i also just. gotta iron out their colors so bad tbh their current ones are *alright* but i think they could be so much more compelling? i could also sticker bomb them a little bit...
