Another day… another oc….the brain rot continues to fester. I’m still working out the details of my canary’s beast/chimera(?) form, but the gist is that they combined themselves with a Giant Bee queen to help with their apiary/apothecary/brewery. She got caught because she was arrested plundering a flower shop having lost control on a night out.

Have a sample of chapter 2 of A Most Peculiar Fondness that was SUPPOSED to be posted this week but, uh, it's growing in length and needs to be split up into two chapters and I am of no clue to how long this fic will be now. With the bits taken out for a different chapter I got 14k words and STILL need to finish those sections. But yeah, proof of concept right here (that is not really edited, fyi):

Without alerting him, Mithrun pressed his palm firmly against the floor molding, a click being heard before the wall practically shifted to the side to widen the line to a gap. They then heard a gasp from the other side. Kabru stood, pulling at Mithrun to follow as they watched the wall move to the side and the tapestry flip up revealing a servant. This one was not the red haired gnome, but a half foot boy. Most likely a kitchen boy. He appeared quite startled to see the two of them on the other side, probably not used to seeing the Lord and Lady of a house at all. Or perhaps it was Mithrun still being in just his chemise. A very probable answer given the boy's wide eyes glued onto his wife, his large, rounded ears becoming redder by the moment. Kabru was concerned they were going to give the entire staff blood pressure issues before their stay was complete. They were apparently just that good at being undercover as newlyweds. With a cough to gain attention onto himself, Kabru said, "Apologies, young lad! My wife seems to have tripped and unlocked a servant entryway by mistake." Standing up straight from his slouched position, the boy stiffly bowed forward. "Not to worry, sir!" he proclaimed as he quickly stood back up, still stiff as a board. "I shan't tell a soul about your dalliance!" Kabru held in a groan. That was what this looked like, wasn't it? But, well, this would work in their favor. "It is very much appreciated. I trust, also, that we have not disturbed any of your duties?" "None at all, sir! Just checkin' the fires from our end. Gotta make sure coal and wood's where it needs to be, wouldn't want our Masters to be cold during their, uh, h-holiday…" Ignoring the boy's obvious thoughts, Kabru's brain decided to work in another direction. A child, despite being stuck working like an adult, was still a child and thus easier to convince of aiding in what they would view as an adventure. And Kabru desperately needed at least somebody who could inform him more clearly of this manor's ins and outs. Not to mention the more lowly a servant, the less attention was drawn to them should they scamper off so long as their duties would be fulfilled. Further, he noted the boy had a pale of coal with him, confirming his status of kitchen boy. There was typically only one and even with the House of Kerensil's extravagance, there was not way the Lord and Lady would allow more then one when serving just their unwanted son and his tall man of a husband. This lead to a prime opportunity to excuse him to their quarters for a quick chit chat. Perfect. Mind made up, Kabru dug in his pocket and retrieved a gold coin. Seeing the kid's eyes widen, Kabru leaned forward with it to keep his attention. "And you've done a marvelous job of keeping the fires strong! I could very much use a smart boy like yourself in regards to making our stay here more comfortable. Would it trouble your day if you were to… report to me about any concerns you may hear from the higher staff? I'm sure you can understand that I, as a tall man, worry that being in such a position over others in an otherwise elf household could ruffle some feathers." "Y-Yes sir!" the boy crowed. Then, quieter, "For the week, yes." Damned but the boy was actually smart. "You get one gold coin at the start to cover the past few days, then a silver each week following." "Deal!" Snatching the coin and stuffing it into his sock, the half foot boy picked up his coal bucket and scurried past the two into the hallway with a kick behind him to make the wall slide back into place as if nothing had moved once the tapestry slid back. He also tried to sneak a few looks over his shoulder at Mithrun, making Kabru tuck his wife closer to him to cover his bareness.

The dungeon rabbits! Absolutely horrifying! Marcille having to necromancy all her friends 😭😭 (I mean that one panel was kinda funny ngl-). There's no way she isn't traumatized from that.

I now get why people said it gets weird,,, I get it,,,

They finally saved Falin! I love how even though it got fucking weird in the end, it was still all to help her

I don't get why they kept saying Marcille's Dungeon lord dress was ugly, I thought it was cute 😭

I find that it was appropriately paced! Before starting, I groaned at the thought of reading all that, but nothing really felt like it dragged on more than necessary (unlike SOME manga *cough cough* one piece *cough cough*)

The golden castle guys get to be on the surface again!

Now onto the fuckass lion:

The bonus 'what-ifs' are actually kinda also depressing? I'm specifically talking about the 'Laios gets eaten ' one, the rest are quite funny.

Of course it all comes down to eating!! It had to!

TL;DR: I'm insane about this manga, thank you Ryoko Kui, thank you translators(they're real lifesavers!), the story is great, the characters are awesome and in general it's really AAAAAAOAZJZJSJJQQNJAJAJAJAJAJ (/pos)

Before the Dunmeshi trailer drops and we get confirmed voice actors for the characters, we should place bets as to who we think is gonna voice each character (Or just like. Y'know, it's kinda weird because this is maybe the most I've felt connected to a character, so when I see these wrong-bad takes on him, it's oddly like... This doesn't upset me. Yet, anyway. Like. I guess eventually one could? (I take a drag of the cigarette and cough terribly. I drink the beer and make it worse, momentarily, and then continue like nothing happened). There could always just be a shitty take that's like, "Man, what the fuck". But it's just mostly felt like, "Yeah, they don't know him like I do." It's weird how secure the source material makes me feel about it all, too. It treats him with such respect and clearly sees him as key to it despite the way his own feelings can be portrayed. It's just like. Yeah. Infantilization. It happens. Sometimes people call him dumb and I don't feel the love in it. And it's like, well, that's miserable, but it's very obvious when the interpretation is wrong. This isn't a person who really knows anything about the character in terms of his condition or anything. It's just got me raising my eyebrows and looking at them strangely. Feels oddly secure. Always feels secure when I like some guy, but sometimes the takes on other characters bother me because I feel like "This is coming from inside the house". I just don't feel that, here. Like. Ah, whatever, you like him. But? Does He Know? You know. (I laugh a little and lean back in my plastic lawn chair. It looks perhaps like it might fall over). Like this is strange. This is weird. I don't feel like they know. There are people who call him a dying dog. They've said he's prettier before the demon, anyway. And that's just tasteless stuff. This can't be coming from someone who actually likes the guy, right? (I sit upright again and cross my legs.) It's. Weird. Like, this is self-shipping, I guess? That I'm doing over here. Maybe I feel more open about it. His attitude canonically helps me. Feels... Secure. It's comforting by nature of being very similar. Where usually things that would annoy me just... exist. Though it is astounding when someone calls him ugly. But I see them and it's just. Easy to realize. Like, God. You don't know anything, do you? (I lean forward to put the beer on the ground and sigh, resting my elbow on my knees, my chin on my palm, seeming far off). It doesn't seem like people get it, not outside of these little insular corners. I don't really know why it doesn't bother me as much. It doesn't feel like they care. It doesn't feel like it matters. Oddly enough. I can't really figure it out.

God. (I pick up my drink and shake my head, righting myself to take a sip). I don't know. I had. Honestly, kind of a horrible day yesterday. Sometimes, it's hard not to care. And to feel secure. But here, it's like...? I don't know. I know my thoughts. I know how I feel. I know why I like him. I know what I want. And the character of Mithrun makes things just feel inherently clearer. Simpler, for me. Because of autism and ADHD and disability. They don't know what it's like, I think. And it ends up being okay if people don't know. But I don't even register it. Don't really respect it. And there are several people who do know. So does it matter if a few more are wrong?

I don't know, I guess. I don't really even feel like a whole person right now. I kind of got burnt out and I thought it'd go away if I slept. And I was so exhausted, anyway. But it just. Ugh. (I kick out my leg, aggressively fidgeting, and the flimsy chair falls. I use it as an excuse to stare up at the sky). Rough.

Of course, this is all somewhat relevant to me. My day. You know, someone called him cruel for how he treated Thistle, the way he talked to him, what he said, and I couldn't even see it until I re-read. I like to think I'm realistic, but? That registered to me as him trying to help. And I still see it. Maybe he was trying to hurt, too. Maybe he's all tied up not knowing what he wants. Feelings he can't quite feel. But I see the scrambling and the struggling. Self-sabotage. It's like. You can't help yourself. It's the art exhibition of the robot in a glass box, always cleaning and always bleeding. Like sometimes you're a knife but sometimes you're the open wound. I'm. I feel like. Sometimes I can't help myself. No matter how hard I try. I see that there. And I see the trying, the need for control, the wanting. Always because you want to. Gotta be that way. Sometimes it feels like I understand too much because of my life...

Love the guy. But it can hurt to look at him.

There is so much vanilla extract in those noodles that Chilchuck, with his heightened senses, can smell the vanilla and alcohol from a mile away, even through the container. He covers his nose and glares at the noodles like they've personally offended him, completely repulsed. Part of him wonders if maybe he's done something to piss Mithrun off and this is how he enacts revenge. God, he hopes not.

same anon who wanted to yap about you and dropped a lore bomb on my oc. i am so happy hearing someone also having a false human oc or an artificial human because okay i know i shouldnt lore drop because suspense and i want to write a fanfic but whatever.

my ocs are as well artificial humans or false humans however not made by the dungeon lord and more created by someone that is from the (pre-dungeon) golden country however died. id say they're magnum opuses (but we have the jizz fairy cough), so i'd rather say they're a mix of alchemy and technology that the alchemist tried to make which worked. there are 4 of them and they are semi-immortal however this is due to the fact that they are machinery and magic that kept their mortality long. this is important because the youngest sibling is outside of the dungeon while the oldest are in the dungeon helping the mad mage.

and to answer your question, i dont have names yet and i only correspond to them the 4 stages of alchemy: nigredo, albedo, citrinitas, and rubedo. i do not want to name them these stages for creativity's sake. though, i sadly cannot draw and is still trying to fixate on what they looked like (i have a hard time because i mostly gravitate more on lore). i am also still constructing it so yipey !!

i will explain in the next days on mithrun and the eldest's dynamic and i am so sorry for yapping, i get excited when i hear someone else's lore and i over tend to ramble. you guys are so cool and i still go GAHGHEUDEK

modern AU thistle seems like the sort of kid who'd refuse to own a smartphone... the mellini household have an ancient family computer that probably runs on dial-up, and every day he logs in to the same decade-old fantasy worldbuilding forum so he and his 17 alternate accounts can cyberbully the three other users. his signature is a kingdom crest flanked by a series of pixel art dragons, lovingly rendered in MS paint, and laios' critique of the wing anatomy prompts a month long crusade in which thistle trawls through everything he's ever posted and scrapes together a page-long call out post accusing him of harbouring an elaborate lycanthropy fetish. he'd have been ip-banned years ago but mithrun is the only moderator and has forgotten the website exists
