Yeah u know some Lily and Marie stuff
《Marie》
I can see Marie actually knowing she's Penumbra's favorite(Cause Penumbra treats her differently from her sibs[But she doesn't know about Lily tho so she's still figuring out])
Tho she can keep a secret
Marie steals and wears Penumbra's clothes and goes to Penumbra with a happy look(Look we got an mini version of Penumbra[Marie looking at Penumbra like "Aunty Cori look at me, don't I look so beautiful :D"])
Holds Crescent's finger normally
If she's mad, then she'll give u the death stare(Which is actually cute)
Sometimes she'll sleep on 1 of the twins or Crescent
Everytime her sibs are fighting with Penumbra or the others, she's watching it like it's a damn movie or series and gets so interested in it
★Lily★
Keeps alot of secrets because she's trustworthy
She brings her sketchbook everywhere she goes now(To draw designs)
When she's creating clothes, she normally does it when no one is in the same room as her, she does it quickly just incase someone comes in the room(If it's Solari, then she doesn't mind)
Occasionally asks Solari about ideas(Aka clothing ideas for her to draw)
She's smart enough to not fight with Penumbra or the others since she's watching the fights and watching it go so horribly(With Marie lol)
Doesn't yell that much unless she's fighting with her sibs(Stops yelling and fighting when Crescent tells them to stop fighting)
"Wow my new family is better then my old one :D"

Book Review: New World Witchery
New World Witchery : a Trove of North American Folk Magic - Cory Thomas Hutcheson. Llewellyn Publications, 2021. English.
Tumblr media
★★★★ (4/5) This book has as many flaws as reasons to adore it, and so this may prove to be a very lengthy review. TL;DR: at the bottom.
Picking this up in the bookstore I was very excited. Hailing originally from Europe, now living in Alaska, and practicing primarily European folk magic, this seemed like a fantastic book to bury myself in and learn about folk magic of my new home continent. Delving into it I was immediately captivated. The structure of the book is very very creative, and the way the author writes really takes you away. I appreciate the inclusion of not just theoretical material, which may fall flat to the reader due to a number of factors, but also biographies of magical practitioners and the sections that encourage you to apply what you read in real life. That said, as an experienced practitioner holding the 'worksheets' up to my own work, it felt a tad empty. The author, though very good at relaying folkmagical tradition, doesn't impart a lot of folk magic's cosmology or quasi-scientific historical approach into the recommended rituals. This has benefits and drawbacks. I think that for an experienced practitioner that sticks to folkmagical principles and a set cosmology, the recommended magical practice is next to useless. However, a beginner practitioner, or somebody looking for direction and inspiration, may find a wealth of new ideas in these sections.
Of course there are the necessary socio-political issues to consider in a book review. I would not discount this book on this account, but I have a few notes. The author undeniably covers his bases. He explicitly warns against the drawbacks of such an extensive piece of literature, of it also including hoodoo, vodou, root working, jewish, native, etc practices. He makes a strong statement against appropriation. But I am a nitpicker, was born one, unfortunately. Some things I noticed: The author does recommend using both 'sage' and palo santo during the worksheet sections a few times. While he takes a stance against appropriatively using materials and rituals, I think it could use a bit more stressing that these plants (salvia officinalis and sandalwood) are endangered or close to it and shouldn't be used by people unable to obtain and use sustainably. The author recommends offering tobacco to ancestors, tobacco being a topic of hot debate presently as to whether or not the use of it in ritual should be reserved for Native American peoples. The author refers to his own magic as 'mojo' once and seems to use Hoodoo tradition fairly freely. Take that as you will. The author started the book off very very careful not to call Native Americans the I-word unless directly quoting something, but appeared to get more casual about that toward the end. Author refers to both mythical witch gatherings and real life festivals a 'witch's sabbat(s)', something I consider to be antisemitic. Author recommends taking a volunteering job cleaning graves to collect graveyard dirt without breaking any laws. Dubious? All that said - I can't knock the book for any of this. The information is good, and the book is well written. Ultimately we can never expect to agree on socio-political progression all the way with one another, and the author seems conscious about liberation for all and respectfully applying his knowledge of various traditions.
The bibliography is good, with only a few eyesores. For this section I ought to explicitly mention I have something that could rightly be referred to as a personal vendetta with Western Esotericism and its derivatives, which is why I react to certain types of modern magic as though I were allergic. All of the 'negatives' I'm about to outline are purely subjective and based on my irrelevant ass opinion. The author occasionally references and appears to hold in high regard such authors as Judika Illes and Scott Cunningham, who are undeniably primarily Wiccan authors, or at the least authors geared toward contemporary practitioners, not folk practitoners. The likes that spell it 'magick'. I should also mention that while the author takes a very neutral stance on Traditional Witchcraft (this in reference to Wicca and the like), he does include such things as the Rede and the Wheel of the Year, which he dubs "deeply agricultural." I just had to bite my tongue and keep reading.
Finally I would like to note that the book, though it refers to itself as about all of North America, pretty much only covers the Atlantic half of North America. In fact, I believe the West Coast only gets mentioned in passing twice, both times when offhandedly mentioning Bigfoot/Sasquatch. This makes sense, on the one hand: the richest folk-magical traditions are there. But on the other: the West Coast, though lacking in such big communities of traditional practitioners, has a rich history of spirituality and magic as well, mostly from the Native peoples here and, in Alaska, from Russian colonists. If the book didn't also discuss Native traditions of the East Coast and Midwest, I wouldn't be salty. But it does, and I would've liked to see a bit more discussion of the West and the Arctic. It would've fit in!
All of that said, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It certainly isn't the type of work you're supposed to read front to back over the course of a few days, but that is exactly what I did and I still liked it! I think the information presented is overall very good, and should be held up to light only as much as any other source should be. Cross-reference, kids! Something I noticed as I worked my way through is that this book would lend itself exceedingly well to being used as a textbook, due to its structure. I wouldn't recommend this book to an ultimate, bare-bones beginner who has no idea how to research and what to look out for yet, and I wouldn't recommend this book to an already very experienced practitioner looking to truly severely deepen their knowledge. But I would recommend this book to a team of them - an advanced mentor able to use this book as a textbook for a student, capable of helping them discern between appropriate and inappropriate conduct, and giving them direction in their early stages. TL;DR: This is a great book. Cross-reference as you would with any other resource, and be sure to contemplate your own ethics and what heritage you are and are not entitled to. I would recommend this book to: - Mentors teaching beginners; - Novice practitioners with some pre-existing knowledge, that are confident in their abilities to cross-reference; - Practitioners in need of some direction or inspiration; - Practitioners that have a hard time finding magic in their native surroundings. Maybe pass on this book if you are... ... from the West Coast and only interested in the West Coast; ... not confident in your ability to cross-reference; ... a true beginner with little to no pre-existing knowledge and cosmology; ... a well-established North American folk practitioner looking for a deep inquiry into the nitty gritty of New World folk magic; ... unaware of appropriate conduct and social issues in the magical community.

An atypical adventure for wanderers and workplace dreamers alike. Mortensen’s depiction of his trip is brutally honest, seeming to hold nothing back about his mental spaces, avoidable errors, or contradictory thought processes. Woven between the travel basics are powerful reflections that are both timeless and contemporary, and the random encounters he has along the way are both hilarious and heart-opening, capturing the kaleidoscope of cultural norms and outliers across America. The Buddha and the Bee is cleverly crafted and addictively easy to read, offering authentic wisdom for adventure-seekers, homebodies, and everyone in between.

★ ABOUT ME.
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Greetings!! I'm just now creating a post about myself since I felt organizing my blog again, some of the things here are just about my interests and hobbies. If you have any questions feel free to send an ask <3
HOBBIES: As i stated before, I'm an artist but definately not a professional one lol. Even if I have been drawing since 3rd grade, I still have a lot to learn and it's going slowly because I don't consistently draw. I write sometimes when I have motivation, I'm not that much of a good writer I can tell ya but I write for fun and sometimes to express. I also LOVEEE listening to music, any kind of genre or just ones that sparks my interests!! I do preper alt rock or kpop though but I have a variety of taste (˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
INTERESTS: of course I love listening to music, more in depth is which kind of band or artist I listen to is; mitski, the nbhd, le sserafim, newjeans, lady gaga, lana del ray and some more. I love games even when I don't usually play games. I like resident evil, LiS, until dawn, detriot become human, mortal kombat. I usually love decision-based games, they are more thrilling. I love watching my fav youtubers such as kubz scouts and coryxkenshin (mostly jay because yk with cory and his uploads lol). This is very obvious but I LOVEEEE horror movies or anything related to horror!! My favorite movies are The Conjuring and Saw II. Another thing is that I like watching asian dramas, mostly kdramas hehe. Not that big of an anime fan but I love aot and hxh, i know my stuff.
LIFE: I don't usually discuss about my life since I don't like getting personal about myself but all I can say is that I'm still in school, 11th grade currently.

RIDERS OF THE CANYON presentan disco en Barcelona el 5 de octubre y en Terrassa el 19 de noviembre
Tumblr media
Próximos conciertos: 5 octubre- Curtcircuit, La Nau- Barcelona 19 noviembre- Nova Jazzcava- Terrassa
First Aid Kit), Jesse Chandler (Midlake, Mercury Rev, Beth Orton), Cory Gray (The Delines, The Decemberists.
Tan excepcional..." (Albert Puig, DeliCatessen, iCat FM, Catalunya Ràdio) "¡Madre de Dios qué bestiada!... Es una preciosidad...una delicia. Imprescindible" (Jordi Sunyer, El 9 Nou) "Un álbum atemporal... Un clásico contemporáneo" (Albert Barrios, Dirty Rock Magazine)

Mission to the Unknown
season 003 : story 019 : episode 086
09 OCT 1965 || 08 JUN 2023
Watched the 2019 recreation instead of Loose Cannon reconstruction or listening to the BBC audio, and goodness me it’s an amazing accomplishment.
For the episode itself;
Cory and Lowry on this godforsaken planet gives the story a good feeling of isolation and helplessness, especially when Cory deduces that Daleks are present due to the Varga plants.
While I’m not a fan of the Daleks allying themselves with non-Daleks (and this has SIX allying parties), their joint power gives a genuine sense of dread for the Masterplan and the sheer scope of the Dalek-aligned forces mounting an invasion on the Solar System.
The Daleks finding and destroying the UN spaceship adds to the helplessness of Cory and Lowry’s situation, as if they manage to launch their beacon they could theoretically be rescued, but being realistic, that was their fate sealed; all they could possibly do now is send the warning beacon. Lowry getting stung by the Varga plant because Cory accidentally hits his shoulder too hard is pretty tragic, and his composure when he’s forced to kill his last compatriot is quite unnerving; his understanding of the situation, and willingness to act before emotions take hold of him is pretty dark. Cory’s eventual death really adds to the weight of this mini-story. Since he died before he was able to send the beacon, the episode could feel a bit pointless, but really it’s a prologue to Masterplan showing just how dire Humanity’s situation with the looming Dalek invasion is.
As for the recreation;
The sets look incredibly genuine, and the effects of the third crewmate turning into a Varga plant looks like it could’ve been executed identically in 1965. The costumes of the alien delegates feels costume-y which is just how they should look, and the period-accurate Daleks complete with misaligned slats and pale white eyes is much appreciated. The voices by Briggs was so spot-on I thought they’d just used the surviving audio for all of the Daleks’ dialogue.
And obviously presenting the episode in black and white was just… the correct choice. That, and keeping William Hartnell, Terry Nation, and Ron Grainer in the credits while the rest are the people involved in the recreation, plus the inclusion of “Next episode : Temple of Secrets” were all excellent choices that really make this recreation blend into season 3.
And it’s the perfect episode for a recreation of this kind; no Doctor or companions to be recast for everyone to get mad about.

july 2022 movie reviews
i watch two movies (one live-action & one animated) a week every month: letterboxd account ★ two movies a week every month list
here are the eight movies i watched for the month of july:
**SPOILERS BELOW**
JULY 4 - THE HALF OF IT
Tumblr media
going into this i thought it would be another tatbilb, or even worse, another kissing booth, but i was pleasantly surprised that this was sapphic introspection at its greatest. ish. i love love loved the spray paint scene - probably one of my fav scenes of july - it kinda reminded me of the rock segment in everything everywhere (i’m not over it btw) and it made me pause the movie and squeal for an embarrassingly long time
also, in a way, isn’t this a sapphic (slash bi, altho it was very obvious the only person ellie loved was aster) retelling of sierra burgess is a loser?
yep. at its very core, the half of it is yet another cyrano effect film. unlike sierra burgess is a loser, though, i loved this movie, because it treads the line between poetic and fun, artistic yet...kinda basic, which isn’t a bad thing, per se. also, while it had a lot of nltog moments, there were a lot of scenes that made this movie awesome. i’ll prob rewatch soon once i have time 🫶
letterboxd rating: 4.5/5
JULY 5 - LIZ AND THE BLUE BIRD
Tumblr media
(i actually went to watch rise of gru on the same day, but since i watched it at the cinema i decided not to include it here)
screams. i love this movie to pieces! yet another sapphic masterpiece for the month of july, mostly because i was really out of it in june (bc i binged so many series). i actually watched hibike euphonium a very long time ago, and lemme tell u rn i was so. disappointed when i heard that kumiko and reina don’t end up together. i had to turn to fics to ease my pain.
SO. i decided to watch liz and the blue bird. holy. this movie is SO poetic. almost like worship? like.....religious. except not to god, but to their...well, love? the movie never explicitly says the forbidden L word but it is very heavily implied that they have feelings for each other, WHICH MAKES ME LOVE their devotion to each other EVEN MORE.
the actual liz and the blue bird story in the movie actually made me cry. i loved the caged bird imagery, the way liz had to let the blue bird go for her to be able to fly again, even though it hurt her...even though the blue bird didn’t want to leave her...sigh. love is selfless after all i guess. sometimes i wish it were a little more selfish bc they deserved to be together 😞
i love the fact that at the start of the movie the text says disjoint, and by the end it finally says joint. it’s another small thing that affects the whole movie’s atmosphere and it was done phenomenally!

JULY 11 - MONTE CARLO
Tumblr media
this is the kind of movie you would watch on disney channel when you were really young, fall asleep in the living room, and wake up in your bed. like magic? well, i probably only feel this way bc selena gomez is in it lol
BTW can we take a sec to appreciate the visuals in this movie?? by visuals i mean how beautiful the main characters were. selena is SO PRETTY in this i actually couldnt stop staring BUT ALSO leighton is gorgeous as always and altho i dont really know katie she is also so so beautiful. this was a solid movie, super cute and exciting. also idk why but it kinda reminded me of the parent trap. well. i guess it’s obvious why it reminded me of the parent trap, but eh. it’s weird to think that we have complete doppelgängers out there tho
i didn’t care too much about the love interests besides meg’s, because he was legitimately awesome. man. i liked that grace and theo met up again at the end but as i said, don’t really care too much about him. RIP cory 😔

JULY 12 - BARBIE MARIPOSA
Tumblr media
this movie has one of the most iconic opening sequences in barbie history. also, is it really considered a rewatch if the last time i watched this i was like 5 with no capability to retain any sort of fondness for it
great movie, i loved that they didn’t make the “mean girls” evil but instead gave them tremendous character growth. this is modern (2008) feminism yall

JULY 18 - ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP
Tumblr media
YAY ANOTHER ZOEY DEUTCH MOVIE! i love this woman more than i love myself sometimes so i was devastated when she died. jk. she survived but i was horrified for a hot sec
i actually watched this at the gym with my phone bared for all to see so when it came time for that scene with madison and columbus i simply turned my phone around and waited it out. btw i almost fell on the tread when avan freakin jogia appeared bc what is he doing in zombieland as a hippy
i also cant tell what exactly it is wichita wants. like...ok. her “i don’t get attached” bs would be a nightmare for me to deal with so columbus stronger than me fr
(btw this is the THIRD time i’ve written this review because I KEEP forgetting to save draft this is horrible)

JULY 19 - BARBIE MARIPOSA & THE FAIRY PRINCESS
Tumblr media
yk those movies that aren’t sapphic but are universally agreed upon as sapphic-coded? this is one of them. GAH i love their connection. they r so cute 🥰
i love the forgiveness scene bc it kinda reminds me of what should’ve happened by the end of beauty and the beast. the prince finally giving the witch a place to stay = catania giving gwyllion a crystallite. isn’t it safe to say then that mariposa is the beauty and catania is the beast....but they’re both beauties, so i guess it’ll just be beauty and beauty. beauty2

JULY 25 - FOREVER MY GIRL
Tumblr media
listen. i trusted jessica rothe bc i loved her as tree in happy death day, but this movie.....had me wanting to punch. liam. so bad. LIKE HOW DOES SOMEONE MESS UP THAT BADLY. first man LEAVES her at the altar, next he wont return her calls TRYING to tell him she’s pregnant, and now he just wants to up and rejoin her life, as if he hasn’t been absent from it for 8 YEARS???
while i hated the male lead i still enjoyed the movie, all the little things. liam is so constantly horrible to the people around him but they STILL forgive him bc its a christian movie so forgiveness has to be a thing apparently. personally i would’ve punched him harder josie
but i gotta admit the voice mail thing is pretty romantic. probably one of the only things i liked about liam was his beat up old cellphone with the voicemail he listens to every single day. btw liam page...liam payne...coincidence i think not

JULY 26 - KUNG FU PANDA 2
Tumblr media
another rewatch because i am insane. since when was kung fu panda a cinematic masterpiece?? since the 2nd movie ofc bc lord shen is one of the greatest movie villains ever idc
good lord i remember liking him so much i literally had like a folder of deviantart fanart of him which is pretty disturbing if u ask me but rewatching it made my adoration for him increase tenfold. kung fu panda 2 is the best kung fu panda movie and i WILL die on this hill
the animation was PHENOMENAL and it had some of the most epic fight scenes in the movie series. i love how this movie added to po’s background and how he ended up as the dragon warrior. plus the way his and tigress’ friendship developed! what i love most tho is the father son bond between po and ping. made me tear up x10 so i was basically crying a river. i also didn’t realize how hilarious kung fu panda is, i haven’t laughed like that in a long time (since everything everywhere) (so like since a month ago)
awesome animation+awesome script+awesome villain! what more can u ask for
