Still one of my FAVORITE movies and Danny absolutely slays it with the soundtrack, it's a staple for me. If you've ridden in my car you've probably heard me singing every part XD

Bonejangles

I was looking up something else when I discovered that the parody character of Bonejangles (from Corpse Bride and named for Bojangles) actually pre-existed Corpse Bride.

I know some of the punny character in Corpse Bride pre-date Corpse Bride. For example Napoleon Bone-apart first appeared in the Beetlejuice animated series and so did the "head Waiter" and the "Second Hand shop." But it turns out the first Bonejangles wasn't a pre-existing Tim Burton property like these others. No. He came from the lesser known 80s Scooby Doo movie, Scooby Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf. I wonder if this technically means Corpse Bride and Scooby Doo and the Reluctant werewolf (and by extension Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School are set in the same universe.

People keep trying to claim all of Tim Burton's stop motion stories are the same universe while ignoring glaring continuity problems with attempting that such as the obvious matter of the timeline, but this connection actually works without having to ignore any continuity.

Day 4 of the January Art Challenge! - “Skull”

Or I guess, I went a step further with an entire skeleton. I recently rewatched Corpse Bride, and I just had to try drawing Bonejangles 💀

Oh goodness. I do adore these ones. One for the Corpse Bride, Emily; one for Victor Van Dort and the last one is for our lovely singing host, Bonejangles! I loved doing Emily's, I tried to take my time in making it just right. Each pearl was sewn on, to match her wedding dress and the entire piece was distressed by hand. I'm so excited for these to find their forever home. You can find them at Canpi Creations!

Sketch of a Corpse Bride idea I had in mind. I have never drawn Bonejangles before so yeah, this was the very first time lol. Besides, I drew most of this with little to no references. This is of course in my style like everything I draw now, I’m proud of it!

Macabre livery reigned raucous and supreme at the The Ball and Socket Pub where many skeletons and corpses reveled, along with insects meandering here and there along wooden floorboards underfoot, undulating themselves. A band on stage set the scene with their own bones and the bones of their dead compatriots. One in particular who still had semblances of flesh had impressively reached around his lung where multiple holes had been pierced through, playing it akin to a squishy accordion. The whistling tunes added an unchained melody of grisly beats and tempo, which energized the entirety of the crowded pub.

Emily herself occupied the dance floor, where the folds of her gown and sheerness of her veil spun with light-footed enthusiasm, dark curls swaying.

A wide grin stretched from one side to the other on Emily's ice-blue visage, causing the gash on her cheek to show off the dazzling whites of her teeth. In the midst of the ever evolving merriment, a familiar face had arrived before her, departing from the stage to join the fray and ask for a dance.

Against the background stew of activity, Emily began to offer her bony hand in an elegant flourish of motion. ( Even though crossing the eternal threshold of death had stripped away the rosiness in her cheeks, when ALL else was stolen from her, all possible futures, all romantic dreams, something she could still lay claim to was her grace. ) A sudden pause accompanied the halted motion of skeletal phalanges, hanging on a coquettish edge of playful inquiry. "Would not someone less…" Emily cast a glance upon herself and back up into dimly lit eyes from beneath the fringe of her lashes, eagerness to seek kinship at odds with her words. "━━━ Fleshy make the perfect partner? I can only detach my arm and leg."
