Also employers: Lists the entry wage below minimum wage and only has a ~$4/hour difference between part-time untrained new hire positions and full time 3+ year experience store managers. A post-secondary degree and several years of experience may or may not (but usually is) also required.
#i get using the wrong wage shortly after minimum wage goes up#but i've seen multiple jobs saying their starting wage is the old minimum wage or below even that one#it's been months to years since that wage was legal! it does not bode well when a company can't even get that right#requiring a full driver's license and/or ability to move 75+lbs unassisted aren't uncommon either#for jobs that don't even require lifting and only need reliable transit#so you have part-time jobs that pay within $3 of minimum wage that require a degree plus experience plus a license plus physical ability#and then employers whine about how no one meets their requirements and how lazy everyone is now for not 'wanting' to work#and of course the right-wing talking point is ~immigrants~ are taking our jobs#yeah no#that's a mix of employers abusing the tfw program so they can pay below minimum wage and prevent employees from quitting#and corporations funneling money upwards as they would have never increased minimum wage if they weren't forced to#what wasn't forced was adjusting wages over the new minimum so there's a major wage squish and less and less difference#between new hires and people with more responsibilities/experience/are trusted to get shit done#what happens to motivation when you have to jump through hoops to get a crappy entry-level job in the first place#and the store manager makes all of ~$5 more and there's no chance of promotion beyond that?
