A longtime affair revealed ; Brian May x reader

*Author’s note*

Hey guys well be prepared to do some binge reading because for my Rock Angel series I’ve got 3 chapters ready for ya’ll. Now for this one, I just wanna let you all know THIS IS PURELY FANFICTION!!! In this chapter we’re gonna get into how the Rock Angel soon found out about Brian and Anita. Now like I told my Wattpad followers and readers, if this causes any wars, harrassment or bullying in ANY SHAPE OR FORM. THIS. CHAPTER. WILL. BE. DELETED!!!

I’m writing through how the Rock Angel would react plus a bit of combination on facts that I have gotten from seeing/reading interviews from Brian about this topic.

Warnings: Angst, cheating, affairs, swearing, more angst, maybe fluff (if you squint).

*April 14th, 1988. LA home*

Now don’t get me wrong, I love having the guys over and my door is always open to them but—this is just weird. To brush you all up, around late February just a couple weeks after my birthday, Brian shows up out of nowhere on our doorstep in our home in LA wanting to stay with us for a while.

He didn’t give us any rhyme or reason just that he needed to be out of the country for a bit. So Jack and I welcomed him in and he’s been a great help around the house. Helping with the laundry, cleaning the place, taking care of Kelly, and he’s also been helping me produce my music.

Since Queen hasn’t decided to do another tour in the past 2 years, Rog and Bri took this time to do some solo works. Freddie also did a couple of solo stuff and Deacy’s worked with a different band playing the bass for them but his days are just spending it with Ronnie and the little Deaklings.

But back to Brian. He’s been so secretive lately, late night phone calls (and I’m talking about phone calls at like 3am our time), wanting to keep certain letters or mail to himself, and anytime I mentioned Chrissie at all, he’d get all tense and try to leave the room by making up some excuse regarding Kelly or working on his next solo project.

One night at almost 4o’clock in the morning, I woke up cause I was thirsty. So quietly I went downstairs to the kitchen and poured myself a glass of milk. But just as I poured myself a cup and was about to drink it, I could hear the soft murmuring voice of Brian out on the back deck.

“I know, I know. I just needed to get away for a bit, besides, it’s been awhile since I’ve seen the Kline family and they are important to me.” I silently stalked towards the back door to see Brian standing with the cordless phone up to his ear. “I’ll be back by the end of the week. I love you too, bye.” He spoke with such love as he made his declaration of love.

Okay maybe I’m being paranoid but he couldn’t be—no not Brian Harold May. There’s no way he could be cheating. Could he? No, no, no, no, no snap out of it! Just because it happened to you (and Dominique, god I wish I could just slug Roger sometimes) but there’s no way that Brian could do something like this.

I heard him sigh as he now sat on one of the lawn chairs we had along the back deck while I silently snuck back to the kitchen and quietly rinsed off my cup after I downed the milk. After putting it in the dishwasher I snuck back upstairs and fell right back asleep.

The next morning I had made a full buffet for breakfast for my two hungry boys, myself, and my baby girl.

“Okay here we go breakfast. The most important meal of the day. Eggs Sunnyside up, bacon on a side of toast. A stack of humungous chocolate chip pancakes which do smell incredible, if I do say so myself. And for my favorite guitarist Jelly filled muffins, and wholesome banana bread with tofu dogs and a tall glass of OJ.”

“Alright mama lioness, thank you.” Jack praised as he cut his Sunnyside egg and ate the piece of it.

“Ba bou mama.” Kelly thanked me in her baby tongue.

“You are most welcome my loves.”

“It really does look delicious (Y/n).” Brian told me. While the three of us began eating our meal, Brian just sat there with his hands in his lap staring at his food.

“You’re not hungry again?” Jack questioned as he paused from eating his bacon. I set my knife and fork down and said as I walked up to him.

“Okay what’s going on?” Brian looked at me humming in confusion. “Last night for dinner you hardly touched my veggie lasagna, which you say is my best dish ever, and now you don’t want breakfast. Bri are you sure you’re not sick?” I cupped his face in my hands trying to feel for a fever.

“I’m fine darling, really I am.” He took my hands off his face and kissed the back on my right one.

“You sure?”

“Yes, I’m fine just—a little tired is all. Hadn’t really been sleeping well these past few days.” I raised my brow at him skeptically. I hummed suspiciously as I went back to my seat and finished up my breakfast.

After breakfast, Jack went to work selling cars (ever since we officially decided to stay in LA around last year, Jack got a job at a local car dealership. It pays well whenever I wasn’t working and it’s nice to see two breadwinners instead of it just being me).

While I was cleaning up the dishes and Brian was cleaning up Kelly of the chocolate from the chocolate chip pancakes she wanted to devour I said to him.

“Hey Brian.”

“Yeah poppet?”

“You know there are additional ways to try and go to sleep that don’t involve raising my phone bill.”

“Wait you knew?”

“Bri, I have a toddler that still wakes me up every now and again. I’m sorta trained to wake up at odd hours in the morning, even when she doesn’t need me. So who is it that you keep calling at odd hours of the night and risking a higher raise on my bill? Cause I sure as hell know it’s not Miami or the guys.”

“It’s uhh—it’s uhh well it’s…..Chrissie!”

“Oh.”

“Yeah, yeah. She-she’s just been wanting to check up on me. In fact she’s in New York for a conference.”

“Ahh I see. So you wanted to call Chrissie at a time that was convenient for her because of the time difference.”

“Yes! Exactly because of the time difference!” Brian cheered. I turned off the tap and dried my hands off agreeing with Brian. I then took my baby girl out of her high chair as I told him point blank,

“So you waited until it was 1am her time. That makes perfect sense.” His face dropped but he suddenly blurted out.

“Actually!” my brow raised at him challengingly. He better come up with the best lie right now. Hell he calls me a bad liar, well he’s even worse, especially once he’s put under the radar. “It was 7pm her time. See while she was in New York for business, she’s now been transferred to—Paris.” What?

But doing that cute little nod of his and smiling confidently, he thought he could make it believable. I would’ve continued on but I was gonna be late if I kept at it.

“Nice save.” I took Kelly into the living room and set her down in her play pin where she grabbed her stuff lion that Roger gave her for her birthday. “Alright look Bon Jovi, I know you’re producing my new album but I need you to stay here and look after Kelly since Jack is working late today and we can’t find a sitter for her. Besides Elton’s coming over for our duet song today so we can handle that.”

“Okay sure. I can keep little Kelly company. Maybe we can go for an outing in the park today.”

“No outings! Remember what that bastard reporter did last month when all of us were out?” long story short, a vulgar male photographer from an LA tabloid stalked me, Brian, Jack and Kelly while we were out for a spring picnic. He even went as far as to shove his camera in my baby’s face.

Had it not been for Brian and Jack holding me back, I would’ve knocked that camera right into his eye. And he’d have a camera lens for an eye for the next 20 years cause technology of today wouldn’t be able to get it out of him less he dies.

Needless to say, my name went on the tabloids the next day as Rock Angel throws Raging Rampage! Of course I did my explanation to a radio station in England and now it’s divided fans on whether I was in the wrong or right to do that.

“Oh yeah. Okay fine, we can find some stuff to do here, can’t we Kelly?” she babbled as she continued to play with her stuffed lion. “See?”

“Okay. But—promise you’ll call if anything comes up.”

“No worries mama, I can handle things from here. We’ll see you both tonight. This time I’ll cook dinner.” He said as he came up to me, cupped my face and stroked my cheeks with his thumbs. Looking down at me with those soft blue eyes finally made me submit to his will.

“Okay, love you both.” I kissed Brian’s cheek before going over to my baby girl and gave her many kisses all over her cheek and finally heading out the door to work with Elton on our duet song.

Later that night both Jack and I returned home exhausted and tired from a long day. As we met up in the driveway of our home, we met each other and kissed each other.

“How was your day love? Sell any good cars?”

“Yep. Managed to sell off this old ’79 corolla that’s been in the shop since they came out. And for a good price too.”

“Excellent.”

“And how was working with Elton John? You know my mom would die if she found out. She’s a huge Elton John fan, ever since she was a teenager.”

“I know. She showed me her collection of Elton vinyl’s she’s collected in the past. But working with Elton is—certainly a challenge. I mean David was tough enough but Elton—yeesh. But they both are my idols and dearest friends. They have their own way of doing things, and you have to find a compromise.”

“I’ll bet.” Just before we went back inside the house, we saw walking right up the sidewalk a women around her 30’s possibly even 40 years old. She had curly red hair, and she had that vibrant glow about her.

“Ohh sorry, I figured you both would still be out. But I guess it had to come out eventually.” I turned to Jack and he said alarmed.

“I swear baby I have no idea who this woman is.” I turned back towards the woman and said.

“Can we help you Miss?”

“Oh right, sorry. I’m just here to return Brian’s jumper that he left at my place.” His jumper? At her place?

“Okay well I can just give it to him, and—how exactly do you know Brian? And no offense ma’am but how did you get my address?” she softly laughed. Laughed? What the—why the hell was she laughing?! Is this chic on something?

“No worries darling I’m not some deranged fangirl or anything. Freddie told me where Brian was staying at. I’m Anita Dobson.”

Wait, wait I know that name. Yeah I know exactly who she is. She’s an actress from the soap opera EastEnders. She’s also a singer and rumors have been speculating about her and Brian—oh god no! Oh HELL NO!!

At that point my fist clenched up and my breathing grew sharp and heavy. I turned back towards the house and stormed towards it.

The door slammed open and I cried out.

“BRIAN HAROLD MAY!! GET YOUR FUCKING ARSE DOWN HERE NOW!!” I heard a thunderous and rapid pacing of footsteps coming down the stairs as Brian with a horrified look on his face.

“What the hell (Y/n) you’re gonna wake up your own daughter.”

“Oh no you don’t get to talk back to me after what you’ve done!”

“What did I do? I-I-I-I hadn’t done anything.”

“You call this not doing anything!?” at that moment Jack came inside the house with Anita. Nervous she waved at Brian and greeted him.

“Hello Brian.”

“Anita? Wha—what are you doing here? I told you I would be back by the end of the week.”

“I know, I know but—you know that jumper you left over at my place at New Years, I found it.” She then took out Brian’s jumper that I had given him as a Christmas present the first time I spent my first Christmas with them.

I crossed my arms over my chest as Brian awkwardly came down the rest of the stairs and took his jumper back.

“Thanks love.”

“Someone better start talking or I swear heads will roll.” I threatened. Both Brian and Anita shifted on their feet as Brian said.

“(Y/n), Jack. Anita and I—well……we’ve been…..we’ve been seeing each other.”

“As in—”

“Yes Jack. Anita and I have been very secretly involved with each other.” At that point everyone went silent. At this point I was beyond pissed off. This was just like seven years ago when I caught Adam with that blonde bitch Becky in our bed shagging each other. Now here was Brian.

Brian May! One of the four men who helped comfort me the day after I found out I had been cheated on. And now here he was doing, what my dick of a boyfriend did, to Chrissie!

I just……I couldn’t even look at him.

“Look. I—I didn’t mean to impose, especially to you (Y/n), maybe I shouldn’t have come.” You think?! “Maybe I should go?”

“No, no Anita I can’t have you walking out this late all alone.” Brian said as he took hold of her hand.

“Well where am I gonna sleep, here?”

“Whoa-ho!” I warned them. They looked at each other and Brian said.

“We’ll go to a hotel. I think uhh—after tonight I—might not be welcomed back here.” Anita looked at Brian and said.

“If you insist.” They walked towards the door. I beat them to the front door and locked it saying in a low, threatening tone.

“No you’re not.”

“No we’re not.” Anita enforced as she and Brian walked away from the front door. “If you both go to a hotel you’re gonna be—” I tried to ease out my breathing trying to get them mental picture out of my brain. “Doing things. I want you both where I can see you!”

“Wait you’re gonna keep an eye on us?” Brian asked in a ‘are you serious’ manner.

“That’s right Brian Harold May and I don’t care how old you are. As long as you live under my roof, you’ll obey by my rules! And that means no sleeping with your girlfriend.”

“Wow, you weren’t kidding, she can be a fierce lioness.” I heard Anita whisper to Brian and he nodded.

“Now Anita, there’s a guest room down here you can rest in. Brian, you’ll stay in your room. Jack take Anita to her room.” He nodded and guided Anita just down the hall.

Once they were gone, Brian turned to me and tried to explain everything.

“Now (Y/n) this isn’t what it—”

“Oh so you didn’t invite your hussy to my house so that you could finally bring into light that you’re cheating on Chrissie with an actress? The typical Rock Star affairs! I expected this from Roger but never from you Brian! Do you realize how sick this makes me feel?”

“I just—”

“I don’t wanna hear about it anymore! Now go to your room!” I yelled as I pointed up the stairs. He sighed heavily and walked up the stairs, shoulders slumped and his spirit broken.

As Jack and I now prepared for bed, I didn’t speak a word to my husband as I angrily got into bed. After a long bit of awkward silence Jack said.

“You know I hadn’t seen you this angry since Prenter went on that interview and spilled out all of Freddie’s secrets.”

“If this is your way to try and cheer me up, I’m gonna boot you to the couch for the next month.” I turned away from him, “I don’t wanna discuss this anymore till morning, good night Jack.”

“Night (n/n). Love you.” I didn’t respond back. All I kept thinking was the rage I was feeling towards Brian about this whole thing.

The next morning, Anita showered up, got dressed and Brian helped pay for her cab fair to the airport. Once she was out of the house, Jack went to take Kelly out for a walk leaving Brian and I alone in the house.

I was currently getting lunch started cutting up some cucumbers, peppers and onions for a sauce while Brian stood on the other side of the island I was cutting on.

“So……how long have you and……” I couldn’t even finish my sentence so I just went back to rapid cutting the veggies.

“Anita and I met 2 years ago, in Beverly Hills for a premiere. I even invited her to our show at Wembley stadium when we did our last tour. She said you were phenomenal on stage.” I ceased my cutting and looked up at him.

“Flatter will get you nowhere hound dog.”

“(Y/n) seriously you’re not playing fair.”

“And you’re one to talk about fair. Does Chrissie know about her?!” Brian didn’t say a word. “See? Brian you—you know what I went through when I got cheated on. Hell you comforted me! But yet here you are doing what that dick Adam did to me! Tell me something, does Anita provide you the same sexual pleasures that you used to have with Chrissie?”

“Oh my god (y/n) how do you…..”

“When you’re friends with one Freddie Mercury and one Roger Taylor. You hear a lot more than you should.”

“It has nothing to do with sex, lust or anything like that. I—I love her. I fell in love with Anita.”

“But what about Chrissie? Your kids? Would you really leave them for that actress?”

“The kids never. But—” Oh my god. He would willingly leave Chrissie. Oh my god that poor, poor woman. “Listen (Y/n), I didn’t want to tell you this but—my marriage has been falling apart for years. I just—I didn’t know what else to do, but when I met Anita, she was like—a light force had come into my life.” I remained silent as I stuck the knife into the cutting board.

“I can’t do this anymore. I—I want you out of this house within the hour.” His eyes widened and he softly said my name.

“(Y/n). I—”

“GET OUT OF HERE!!!” I shouted as I turned my back on him. Silence once again surrounded us and it was then I heard him gently tread up the stairs to pack his stuff. Next thing I heard was the front door opening and then closing.

A few weeks later; I was cleaning up the house while Jack and Kelly were out having their monthly Father-daughter bonding time.

As I turned the vacuum off, there was a loud, thunderous knock at the door. I at first jumped, startled by the knocking, but I went to answer the door. And I was surprised to see just who it was.

“Chrissie?” for the first time in 2 years since I’ve seen her she suddenly appears on my doorstep in LA with a bag full of groceries. “What are you doing here?”

“I first came to give you this,” she handed me the bag. “And this!” that’s when I got slapped hard in the back of my head.

“Owie! Why though?” she stormed into my house as she said.

“Why did you have to fill Brian’s head about trying to make things right!?” She sat down on my couch. “Honestly (Y/n), now there’s some ice cream in there, put it in the freezer before it melts.” I quickly did as she said and I turned towards her and asked her in complete shock.

“Wait so—you knew?!”

“Of course I knew!”

“Why didn’t you say anything? To Brian or even reach out to me?” I said as I sat beside her. She took a deep breath before saying.

“Sweetie I hate to tell you this but—our marriage has been failing for years.” I looked at her in shock.

“What? How long?”

“It’s been so long that I’ve forgotten now. But it’s really been hard since 2 maybe 3 years now.” What? But—they always seemed happy together whenever I saw them.

“Chrissie I—why didn’t you talk to anyone about it?”

“Brian and I tried to work in marriage counseling but with the final Queen tour it got too much, and once the tour was over it—felt like we were both wasting our time. So we just—agreed to not talk or be near each other for a bit till we both came to an agreement on what to do. Plus we didn’t want to upset the kids. Do you know how hard it is for a child so see their parents screaming at each other constantly?” From what I remember my parents rarely got mad at each other, they always had the perfect marriage.

Now I’m not naïve I know that some marriages never work out. Some of my friends I once had in secondary school had to go through their parents getting divorce and it really affected them. Hell I can even give my aunt and uncle, they hated each other and yet they continued to stay married to each other (to my knowledge I don’t think I ever heard them say I love you to each other).

“Plus all this fighting and the arguments it hasn’t been helping Brian mentally.” My brows furrowed in confusion. “There’s—also been some stuff going on beyond just us. His father got diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer and he’s getting sicker and sicker by the day. That, plus our marriage crumbling to bits, Brian he—he’s said if it weren’t for the kids, as well as you and Kelly…….he would’ve contemplated suicide.”

What? He—he never mentioned that to me. Oh god and now I’ve……shit.

“Chrissie if this is a way to try and guilt me, it’s working.”

“Oh sweetie I don’t mean to guilt you. I’m just telling you all on what’s been going on.”

“I knew Brian had his dark moments but—lately, especially since Kelly was born, he’s always put on a happy face around us. I just—I can’t believe I never saw it.”

“Even the brightest people can have their darkest moments.” No shit. I mean I should know cause I’ve had those days myself. God I feel like such a hypocrite now.

“I will say this though; ever since he did meet that—actress. He’s been more involved with the kids, he’s been more attentive to them, more loving, and involved in their lives. In fact I’ve never seen him happier than he is right now.” God now I really feel like shit. But what about Chrissie herself?

“But what about you?”

“I’ll be fine. I think—I think Brian and I have come to an understanding in the last few months that…..it’s best for us and for the kids that we get a divorce. Because at this point it’ll get too crazy. Now you little miss. You gotta make things right with him.”

“I don’t think he’ll listen to me. Chrissie I—I unleashed every ounce of anger I had. It felt like I got cheated all over again. I thought back to when—and then I thought of you and…….” She wrapped an arm around me and she said.

“Oh angel, I know you were thinking your heart was in the right place. Especially since I’m the mother of his kids and we’ve been married for over 10 years. And Brian told me what had happened to you when that bastard of an ex-boyfriend cheated on you. Being cheated on its—it sucks.”

“I agree it totally sucks.” I groaned out as we both softly laughed.

“Go get the ice cream, we can drown our sorrows in that instead of wine.” I went to the freezer and got the ice cream out as well as two spoons and we both shared the ice cream together.

After finishing the tube of ice cream, I was lying on the floor while Chrissie was sprawled out on my bed.

“Can I be honest with you Chrissie?” she hummed. “Since—you and Brian are gonna be….you know divorced, does—does that mean we won’t see each other again?” she slid down the couch to come close to me and she said.

“That’s up to you honey. I’ll tell you what; if you ever need a neutral ground to stand on, and rant about how crazy your child and future children make you, I’ll be there for you.”

“Thanks Chrissie. And I’m really sorry I screwed this up.”

“You should be. But—I forgive you.” she said as she hugged me. As we both swayed from side to side she then asked me, “So—have you met her?” I knew that she was referring to Anita.

“Yes. You’re ten times prettier than she is.”

“That’s sweet. Could I take her?”

“With this right hook, no contest Lady Ali.” She chuckled and embraced me tighter.

After that, she left my house and she stayed at a hotel nearby before she would fly back to LA. It was then I decided to call Brian to talk this out. He agreed and so I was going to fly out to London to see him so that he and I could talk about this like reasonable adults.

So that night I booked a flight for tomorrow morning and told Jack what all was going to happen. I would stay with Roger for a few days while Brian and I tried to talk things out.

When I got to London, I was sitting in Hyde Park with my shades (well an old pair of Roger’s shades he had back in the 70’s that I ‘borrowed’) on protecting my eyes from the bright sun.

“(Y/n).” I looked up and there wearing his own pair of shades was the curly haired guitarist himself.

“Bri.”

“Shall we walk?” I nodded and soon the two of us walked side by side. There was a bit of awkward silence between us at first till I finally spoke up.

“Chrissie came to the house and told me everything that’s been going on.”

“Of course she did.” He muttered.

“You should be grateful though. Bri—I really wanted to try and forget you after hearing about what you did. But hearing about everything that’s been going on in that head of yours—I can’t believe you’d think about killing yourself.”

“It’s—I’ve got no excuse. I’ve been feeling like an utter failure these past couple of years outside of Queen. Chrissie and I just….we were constantly fighting all the time. But when I met Anita—it was like finally coming out from the water I had been drowning in.”

“I don’t condone the cheating cause—you know how I went through it. After getting both sides of the story I—I know I can’t be involved in this situation cause it’s none of my business. This is between you, Chrissie and—Anita. But…..just promise me this. Tell me again this has nothing to do with anything sexual.”

“It had nothing to do with the fact that Anita was prettier than Chrissie. Nothing about appearances, not about urges. Nothing of that sort.” I nodded.

“It’s gonna take some time. I mean hell I don’t even know if I can accept her but—I’ll try my best to not be a total bitch around your new lady friend.”

“That’s all I ask for (Y/n). I won’t force you to be friends with Anita. I just…..want you to understand where I stand on this matter.” I nodded. “Are there any other questions you have for me?”

The rest of the day was just Brian and I talking about his relationship with Anita. How it began, when they first started falling for each other, things like that.

By the first week of May, Chrissie and Brian finalized their divorce papers. Brian May was now officially separated from his wife and he was now freely able to stay with Anita over at her place. I’ll be grateful that they didn’t go off and get hitched as soon as it happened.

In fact Brian invited Jack and myself to have dinner to officially get to know Anita better. It was a calm, quiet meal with small talk of just getting to know one another on a more stable level.

I apologized to Anita on my behavior when we first met and she immediately forgave me (Brian had told her that I had been cheated on and that’s why I had flipped my shit on the both of them).

Now I won’t get into too much after this but I will say this, it took me a year and a half to finally come around to Anita and accept her into the ‘Queen/Angel’ circle. Cause like Brian said, she is charming, witty, sweet, loving, a bit cheeky, but she is passionate about what she does and—she is definitely a force not to be reckoned with.

Chrissie and I still kept in contact but eventually when my schedule soon started back up with recording and doing my tours again, we lost contact with each other. And I hate to admit it but eventually all contact suddenly just ceased from her end.

Yeah I was heartbroken at first, but I had a feeling deep down that Chrissie might have wanted to just cut ties with everyone. I’m even told by Veronica and Dominque that they hadn’t heard a word from her either.

In the end, not all relationships can be successful and eventually old ties must be severed if we are to continue on in life. But in my mind I’ll still remember the support and love Chrissie gave me.

General Info/Interesting Topics

Half As Interesting & Wendover Productions: Both channels are made by the same person, but where Wendover Production offers more lenghty and serious videos talking about topics such as logistics, economics, and planes, HAI gives you funnier, bite-sized 5min videos on a wilder variety of topics, covering all types of oddities and fun facts. Different styles, but both incredibly interesting and well-made. Loves planes.

RealLifeLore: Similar to HAI/Wendover, videos generally go between 6min to 12min. Lots of interesting and diverse topics with a fun tone. Geography videos and hypothetical questions galore. Super well-made, too. Loves Toyota Corollas.

Polymatter: Similar to Wendover and RLL. Videos are serious and educational, covering a big range of topics as well, including currencies, economics, the entertainment industry, etc. Some of the prettiest and smoothest animations ever.

Scary/Mysteries

Bedtime Stories: A channel producing 20-30 minute videos about a diverse array of mysteries: cryptids, aliens, disappearances, true crime, you name it. Each video features original black and white artwork to go with the narration, and the atmosphere it manages to create is impeccable. Very well-researched, and very mindful and respectful of the victims it talks about. Highly reccommended.

Nexpo: Youtuber that specializes in investigative videos about a variety of mysteries, both from the internet and from real life. He’s covered anything from video game mysteries, to reddit enigmas, to ARGs, to real life dissapearances and unsettling occurences. He has a series called “Disturbing Things From Around The Internet”, which is absolutely chilling. Super engaging and terrifying. As we say, everybody gangsta until Nexpo says “Let’s take a look...”.

Barely Sociable: Similar to Nexpo, he puts out long, documentary-style videos about internet and real life mysteries. He’s dived into varios videos about the dark web and the silk road, and is currently doing a multiple-part series about the mystery regarding the identity of the creator of Bitcoin. Really cool videos.

LEMMiNO: King of quality over quantity. He might not upload much, but when he does it’s an absolute delight. He makes 20-30min long documentary-style videos about diverse topics, mostly centering on mysteries and other curious occurrences, such as the Battle of Los Angeles, The Mandela Effect, or the Dyatlov Pass Incident. INCREDIBLY high-quality video, you really feel like watching a TV documentary.

Gaming

Achievement Hunter: A group of people who play games and are kinda terrible at them most of the time, and who are part of Rooster Teeth, the guys who make shows like RWBY and RvB. Not only do they play video games (such as Minecraft, GTA, GMod, and countless more), they also play board games, and have a variety of other live action shows you can enjoy. If you decide to get into them, it’s a one way trip, but what a trip it is!

Press Buttons and Talk: The gaming channel of Alex Mankin and SungWon Cho (yes, ProZD!). They upload every day, and have played a wild variety of games, so I’m sure there-s something for everyone. Their Ace Attorney playthroughs are perfection, as they voice all the characters and give birth to countless hilarious inside jokes along the way.

Music Industry/Celebs Analysis

Pop Dissected & GossipBoy: Different channels, but they’re fairly similar in topics and format, with their own particular charms each. Short-ish videos analysing current pop artists, why their music flopped, how a special era might have defined them, etc. Very interesting and well-researched.

Music Review/Music Reactions

ToddInTheShadows: I mean, if you like music review videos, you probably know Todd. Enigmatic, shadowy pianoman who reviews music and makes a lot of...unsuccessful predictions (we love you Toddstradamus). Has segments on one hit wonders, on bad records, on new songs, all that you could need. Plus he’s really funny. Who doesn’t love TitS?

Mr. 96: Music reviewer, whose opinions I generally agree with. He’s really funny and makes super enjoyable videos. Plus he likes kpop, if that’s your thing as well! Super enjoyable videos, don’t tell Mr. 69 I said that...

Diamond Axe Studios Music: Another music reviewer, with the BEST filming set of all of Youtube. He makes videos ranking Billboard chart top songs for each season, so if you like Opinions, then you’re gonna have a fun time. Really funny guy as well.

Nina Schofield: Music reviewer, she’s a singer, songwriter, musician, vocal coach and the nicest, cutest angel you’ve ever SEEN. Her reviews are one of the coolest and most professional, as she tends to focus on the instrumentals and the construction of the song, which is super interesting. She’s really talented as well, so please check her out!

AJayll: I’ve you’ve searched for ANY reaction vid you’ve seen AJ. She’s SO funny, her reactions are super engaging and absolutely hilarious, and it’s super infectious to watch her having a good time. Please watch her yell at Selena Gomez (”SALINAAA!!!) and call Dua Lipa “Zua Lapeeps”, it’s hysterical.

Reacts By Ash: She’s the Honorary Straight, y’all. Ash’s reactions are so fun and cute, she is just a MOOD. Her edition is absolutely hilarious and it definitely adds to the whole experience. Please don’t miss out.

Thethirdbill: The sweetest guy you’ll ever see! He does a series called Trying To Stan, in which he reacts to a lot of an artist’s work, trying to discover why people love them (and loving them in the process). He’s super open minded and sensitive, and it’s a delight watching him discover wonderful artists.

Movies / Animated Media / etc.

Schaffrillas Productions: This guy is just so funny. So freaking funny. He mostly makes videos ranting about animated movies, like why Shrek the Third Sucks, or why Megamind is an underrated Masterpiece, you get it. Also expect videos about musical songs, or disney songs, cause he’s a theater nerd, and I love it. ADORES TAMATOA, SOMEHOW. Also, makes YT Poops, so there’s a bit of that humor if it’s your thing.

24 Frames of Nick: He makes videos about movies, and those videos end up being hilarious. Lots of videos about movies that you probably forgot existed, about movies that are absolutely terrible, and he also made a nighmare-inducing video about the world of Thomas the Tank Engine. If you need cheering up, check him out.

Funny

NakeyJakey: I can’t explain NakeyJakey. Open a new tab and go watch one of his vids right now. He’s the funniest motherfucker ever. That’s all I can say.

2019 Volvo XC60: Helicopter Parent

In a fit of stir craziness, I hopped in the jet and sped off to Earth for 10 days of hiding from the COVID in the forest (instead of a God-forsaken Martian hellscape). I paid for a rental Corolla. My dear friends at Avis said, “your 9-passenger Chevy van is ready for you!“

When the bus pulled up to the lot, the Avis app told me that my Grand Caravan, white, but with trendy black wheels, was in slot whatever, right by the dropoff.

“Better,” I thought, “but I would still prefer the Corolla I prepaid for.” Before getting all Ken on the manager about this unseemly “upgrade,“ I checked the app again. Minivan? Check. Chevy van? Still available! Volvo? Wait, what? Get this boy a chicken dinner!

I didn’t care that it was a grocery getter Volvo and not some $100K Polestar saloon. Like 90% of American SUV buyers, My only concern was that the “utility” part wasn’t wearing minivan sheet metal. I get enough Dad Bod/Mom jeans snark already.

Then I started driving it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it’s a competent $50K Scottsdale trophy wife-worthy quasi-truck. The devil in the details is relentless.

So here’s what’s good:

Smooth leather seats.

2 pane panoramic moonroof with theatrical retracting sunshade.

7 or 8-speed transmission.

All Wheel Drive. Something of actual utility in Michigan

Adjustable driving modes.

Harman Kardon sound system.

Built-in GPS (that wasn’t deactivated by Avis to sell an addon)

SiriusXM - no subscription. About the regular radio - I couldn’t find the preset setting to delete all the hate talk and religious channels these rentals often have. On the plus side, instead of presets, the radio automatically put in all the stations whose signal was strong enough to register. While driving up the Michigan Coast Highway, there was an occasional bleed over between the local station and the Chicago station using the same frequency.

WiFi Hotspot. Sounds good in theory. The feature was buried in a menu I stumbled upon on my last day with the car. (Karen: How am I supposed to read the Facebook without wifi?)

Some of the safety stuff my Honda has - adaptive cruise, lane departure, driver alertness, traffic sign reading.

Configurable (sort of) gauges.

Parallel parking assist.

Invisible to cops

Approach/puddle lights are stellar

Then there’s the other stuff:

The engine light was on. Step one - check the gas cap. There isn’t one. OK. Step 2, check the oil. Good luck with that. There’s no dipstick, dipstick. Somewhere in the cascade of menus (once you figure out how to get there) is a screen that tells you the oil level. Avis thought it might be cheap (i.e., low octane) gas. The car demands premium. It’s a turbo, so that should be a given. A tank and a half later, that wasn’t it.

TFW you need to scrub off speed quickly and you slap the lever a few times and you’re still in 4th or 5th gear.

The half-hearted cleaning by the rental company highlighted the cheap brittle plastics on the center console. I noticed both, because I had to unstick the buttons. Cue the frat house flashback of incongruous, mysterious (and best left that way), sticky things.

I couldn’t really tell much of a difference between driving modes, except for “Off-Road.“ Basically, it uses low gear hold and engine braking and maybe regular braking to slow your descent. I kept in in sporty most of the time, for the sake of the S in SUV. Economy mode made the engine start/stop more aggressive, like when coasting.

The tech. A blessing and a curse.

Factory GPS loves the highways. It only wants to tell you the fastest way to your destination. She’d get so PO’ed when I detoured or stopped to look at a thing.

“ Harman Kardon” audio sounds promising. I remember that name as being on stereo components I could not afford. Do you want to explore the sound quality? Have your passenger scroll through 17 menus.

Basically, always have a passenger, even to change the temperature.

You’re so naggy, Karen. The lane departure is supersensitive. The traffic sign and lane departure don’t sync up for things like construction zones. Driver alertness is 3 strikes and you’re out. Karen wants you to pull over.

Karen is happy to tell you when you’re in a no-passing zone. She is blithely unconcerned when the pass restriction ends.

She is right on top of those speed limit signs. 1 mph over the posted limit and the dash starts flashing the speed limit sign at you. It’s been a couple of weeks, but I think she also lost her mind a little if the speedo read above 80.

Not that I know from experience. Must have read that in the owner’s manual.

Android Auto -Karen friggin’ hated it. The Google GPS window is tiny, compared to the built in version that can be almost full-screened. On Bluetooth, Karen is happy to read your messages. Just tell her what line number. *Looks at big screen* What do you mean, “select line number.“ 100 miles later - Oh, the OTHER screen. The one with the speedometer I’m supposed to be checking occasionally. Got it. Plug that phone in and Karen’s mood changes. At first, it’s OK. She’ll play the Habanera on Spotify, but it sounds dull because you haven’t figured out the stereo controls yet. Sigh

At first, you can compose texts through Google instead of the canned responses of the factory interface. After a while, the green-eyed monster awakes. Suddenly your phone is simply not available to take your dictation. Karen has no explanation. Just “NOPE.” Also, she blames the phone for the problem that didn’t exist a minute ago.

I never did figure out the mobile wifi - I didn’t even find the screen with it until I was returning the car.

This is my late submission for @huntersociopathavenger‘s writing challenge and I’m so sorry this is late and I really hope you like it! <3 <3 <3

Castiel groaned as one of the angels flung him against the wall. He promptly sliced the attacker with his angel blade, not doing much harm, however and proceeded to punch the angel in the face, breaking free from his bond. Just as he was making his final break out of the tavern, which inadvertently became a battlefield between him and a faction of rogue angels with apparent orders to capture him, somebody hit him bluntly on the back of his head and somebody’s foreign grace encompassed his mind, sedating him. He blacked out, even before his body hit the floor.

He woke up because of pain and because of a rough female voice calling out his name. The angel blinked and slowly opened his eyes adjusting to the light. After a quick look around the room the angel concluded that he was held in some sort of basement with grey featureless walls and floor and something looking suspiciously like a blood stain in one of the corners. In front of him was a metal door with scratched surface and on his right was a big, what he assumed to be window, which was now covered by dirty used-to-be-beige blinds. The angel himself was chained to a chair with iron chains with angel-binding sigils etched into them. Castiel sighed. Captured, yet again.

“Castiel!” Rough female voice returned and now Castiel was sure that it wasn’t a hallucination. Someone very real was standing behind him and calling out his name.

“That… that would be me,” coughed out angel.

“I damn well know it’s you.” Castiel heard high heels clacking on the floor behind him and soon a woman walked out from behind him. She was wearing a grey striped pant suit with slightly unbuttoned blue shirt and she appeared to be in her mid fifties.

“My name is Dina,” she said as she knelt beside him to be at eye level with him.

“Angel, I presume,” noted Castiel.

Dina nodded. “A pathetic one, I should say. Weakened, with no wings, stranded on Earth. And who’s fault is that?” With a hoarse laugh, Dina stared into Castiel’s eyes.

The angel furrowed his brows and exhaled irritatedly. “Is this about the Fall? That was a year ago and I think we established that I didn’t make the angels fall! And Heaven is open, by the way!”

Dina laughed again and her laugh sounded rotten. “What’s up there isn’t Heaven. It’s a miserable copy of what was before the Fall.”

“Before the Fall there was a dictatorship!” grunted Castiel, tugging at his restraints.

“And that's how it was meant to be!” through her teeth spit out Dina, every word fizzling with venom.

“Well, what do you want from me now?” yelled Castiel.

Dina narrowed her eyes. “I want the names of every angel and their vessel that is running things up there. I want to know my targets and I’m sure you know all of them. And I want to know where you base your operations on Earth.”

“And why would you think I will just give it to you?” hissed the angel, furrowing his brows.

Dima gave him a weird look and smiled slyly. “I have ways to make you comply.”

“What do you-“

With one quick movement Dina opened the blinds on the window, revealing a window behind it.

“Oh no…” gasped the angel as he perceived what was behind the window. Behind the window was Dean, tied to a chair, just as he was, but Dean was already covered in blood and bruises. He was tortured, with horror realised the angel. Castiel gagged.

“I presume you two know each other,” in a sweet song-alike tone murmured Dina just above his right ear.

“You…” Castiel found himself speechless. Everything inside him screamed. Dean was hurt because of him. For the first time in years he found it hard to breathe.

“He has nothing to do with this.” Castiel saw red.

Dina laughed. “Why of course he does. I need your precious boyfriend-” Dina raised her eyebrows, noticing Castiel’s confused face “-oh yes, everyone’s aware of your connection - to make you talk.”

Castiel squinted his eyes shut for a second. “Dina, don’t do this, we can work it out-”

He was interrupted by the sight of another angel entering the room with Dean and slicing his cheek with knife. The angel moved so fast that Castiel didn’t even have time to say anything. He didn’t hear Dean’s cry of pain, but he definitely saw Dean’s brows shoot up and hunter’s eys squinting shut, as Dean flinched. Castiel wondered whether the angels even told Dean why they were hurting him… or whether he will have to tell Dean later once all of this was over.

“And you know what, Castiel? He knows exactly that we’re cutting, stabbing and punching him because his boyfriend wouldn’t spill the tea,” off-handedly mentioned Dina from somewhere behind Castiel.

“Let him go. You have me,” grunted Castiel.

“I have the box, to which he-” Dina gestured towards the window, “-is the key. It is known that you will do anything for the Winchesters, especially for the older one. Such a cute couple you are. So what it’s gonna be, Castiel? We got a deal?”

Castiel was on the verge of spilling all information just for Dean to be let go. And he realised that it was incredibly egotistical and selfish of him, to sacrifice everything for one person, but he couldn’t have it any other way. It was Dean.

And then something almost magical happened. Just as Castiel opened his mouth to agree to Dina’s demands, he felt a small crack in the right handcuff. Acting in a split second, Castiel pulled his hand up and to his right, breaking free of the bond, taking Dina by surprise. He dodged her attack with a blade and flung her against the wall, and considered charging on her but then realised that the angels might kill Dean if he kills Dina so instead he leapt up, crashing through the window into the room Dean was kept in, slamming the angel guarding him into the door, stealing his blade and effectively killing him with it. He then rushed to barely conscious Dean, hurriedly untying his wrists before Dina regained her strength.

“Cas?” mumbled Dean, trying to get up.

“I’m so sorry, baby, “ muttered Castiel, scooping Dean up and rushing out of the room onto the staircase. An angel charged in on them, but Castiel quickly deflected his attack and stabbed him with an angel blade. Castiel ran as fast as he possibly could up the stairs, holding Dean’s unconscious body in his hands. Slamming on the metal door at the end of the staircase, Castiel found himself in the dark alley behind a towering building. Castiel glanced back and saw Dina two more angels rushing after him. Being careful not to accidentally hurt Dean, he cradled him closer and decided to make a run for it. Around the building there was an old pick-up truck, and Castiel, without much hesitation, rushed towards it. Castiel thanked all deities and cosmic beings that it wasn’t locked, put Dean into the backseat, taking off his trenchcoat in the process and stuffing it under Dean’s head and himself got into the driver’s seat. Putting what Dean had taught him to use, he hot wired the truck with shaking hands and slammed the gas pedal. The angel breathing became rapid and shallow as he tried to steady out his hands on the wheel. Making a sharp turn, he drove the truck out of the alley, as the wheels gave out a cringy screeching sound and the saloon filled with smell of burnt rubber. Castiel clenched his jaw and hit the gas pedal once more, as he drove the track through the crammed roads, fenced by askew buildings from both sides, towards the main road. He didn’t stop until he was at least 10 kilometres away. He pulled over, glancing back to make sure he wasn’t being followed and rushed outside and opened the backseat. Dean was still unconscious, so Castiel carefully placed a hand on his forehead, brushing outside unruly dirty blonde hair and commanded his grace to flow through and fix the damage done to the hunter. After a couple of seconds, Dean’s eyes flung open, as he inhaled deeply and woke up.

“Cas?” he said, grabbing onto the angel for support and sitting up.

“Yeah,” shortly said the angel, helping Dean to get into the passenger’s seat of the truck.

“Son of a bitch grabbed me from back entrance of the diner,” grumbled the hunter, as Castiel got into the driver’s seat. “Thanks for healing me up by the way.”

“Dean,” tiredly said Castiel, turning to face the hunter, “I’m so sorry. They did such horrible things to you and all because of me.”

The hunter gave Castiel an exhausted smile. “It’s fine. I’ve been through worse. Plus, you saved me. That’s what matters.”

Castiel lingered for a second, then pulled Dean closer and wrapped his arms around the hunter, leaning in for a kiss. Dean’s lips still tasted a bit metallic from blood, but Castiel didn’t care. He was just glad Dean was okay and that Dean was still even willing to be with him after all the torture he endured because of Castiel. And in that moment, it hit him. Castiel realised what exactly he had to do in order to keep his hunter safe.

“This was never going to work,” mused Castiel, sitting alone in a featureless 2004 Toyota Corolla. His Lincoln was very recognisable and Castiel decided that would like to go unnoticed for this. He stared at the nameless motel in front of him with nothing to distinguish it from other building other than a neon red sign. It’s been two days since Dean’s abduction and near death and the angel spent those two days in conflicted thoughts. He concluded that there was no other way and he had to do what he had to do. That’s why in that morning he was sitting in front of that motel, about to make perhaps the hardest choice in his life.

A door of the motel flung open, tearing angel out of his train of thought and he saw Sam leaving in his tracksuit for his usual 5 am jog. Rising sun was playing on the windows of the motel, as the younger Winchester made his way down to the street, not noticing Castiel. The brothers were on a case, so Sam shifted in his usual case-routine: after his jog, he would probably go the closest food joint, grab a salat for him and a sandwich for Dean, and surf the web for research on the case until Dean would show up at the diner. Which means Castiel had an hour at most alone with Dean.

Castiel waited for Sam to leave the parking of motel and got out of the car. He exhaled and on shaking legs walked towards the door of the motel. He hesitated at the door for a brief moment, but proceeded to knock twice. Better now than later.

“Who’s there?” hoarsely and rather angrily replied the older Winchester from behind the door.

“It’s me. Castiel,” replied the angel.

The door creaked as the hunter with a sleepy glare stuck his head outside. “What are you doing here, sugar? I thought you were still sorting it out in Heaven.”

“I uh- We need to talk.” Castiel made his way inside motel room, noting that the flannel the hunter threw on to open the door was still unbuttoned.

“Of course, Cas, what about?” Dean beckoned the angel in, wrapping his arms around him in the process and kissing the angel on the cheek. Castiel felt his heart plunge, because he knew what he had to do and that made every cell inside him ache.

“It’s about our relationship.”

Dean furrowed his brows, casting a concerned look at the angel, as he headed to the night table and grabbed a half finished bottle of beer from there. “What is it, buttercup?” he said, settling on the bed.

The angel inhaled deeply and decided that it was for the better good. “Dean… What was between us… That could never work. We could never work.”

Dean froze. “What do you mean? Is it- is it something I did?”

Castiel swallowed a traitorous lump in his throat. “No, Dean-”

“Then I wasn’t enough for you? Is that it, Cas? I wasn’t good enough?” The hunter stood up and started pacing in circles around the motel room.

Castiel caught him by his shoulders and pulled him close. “You were more than enough, but-”

“I’m not your type?” Dean shook his head in confusion, furrowing his brows. He exhaled slowly, collecting himself and closing his eyes for a second. “Where did I go wrong?”

Castiel bit his lip. Everything inside him hurt. Dean’s eyes were becoming wet and seeing the hunter cry over something that wasn’t his fault, but was Castiel’s made the angel want to disappear. “You didn’t,” said Castiel, finally managing to get the words back under control.

“Then why are you saying that you have to go?” Dean tried to wrap his arms around the angel, but the latter one pulled away.

“Because look where it got us!” Castiel abstractly waved his hand around the room.

“I don’t understand-”

“You were nearly killed because of me! Our- our relationship, our bond that we share, it’s a- it’s a, a…” The angel stuttered, looking for the right way to put it, but Dean was quicker than him to catch on to his train of thought.

“A liability.” The word sounded like a stone thrown at a glass wall, shuttering it in pieces. “I’m a liability.”

Castiel’s lips narrowed into a thin straight line. “They were using you as leverage.”

“And you’re scared that next time we won’t be so lucky and we wouldn’t break out and you would actually have to give them what they want in exchange for me?” It was Dean now who stepped back.

“No-” The hunter didn’t let Castiel finish.

“And you can’t have that, can you?”

“That’s not what I meant-” tried to intervene the angel, but Dean wasn’t listening, as he was back to pacing around the room.

“Hell, it makes sense,” he mumbled on his way, not stopping moving for a second, “You’re fighting a friggin’ civil war, and giving out info every time I get captured is- is- is bad strategy!”

“It’s not what I meant!” yelled angel to interrupt Dean, who stopped dead in his tracks and gave the angel a weird long look.

“Then what did you mean?” he asked in a contemplative, alienated way, that was so unusual for Castiel to hear.

“You could get killed,” quietly said the angel, sitting down on the bed.

“Because they would fail to get what they want from you and they would actually proceed to their threats?” Dean’s forehead covered with tiny droplets of sweat, as he ran his hand through his hair.

“You’re twisting my words again, Dean. They might kill you just to… prove a point to me, without even asking for anything in return.”

“Is that so?” Dean collapsed in the chair, opposite Castiel.

Castiel furrowed his brows with a tilt of his head. “Of course it is!” he said in a raised tone, standing up. “I would give everything-” he emphasized this word with a rise in his voice- “for you. There isn’t a thing that I wouldn’t do for you.”

Dean blinked slowly, processing angel’s words. Then, he slowly rose from the chair and stood next to Castiel, stood painfully close, stood as if preparing for the kiss, which wouldn’t happen now, thanks to Castiel.

“Then stay. Stay for me. Don’t go,” finally said the hunter, with tears in his eyes and Castiel felt his grace rushing painfully through every inch of his body, feeling his body ache with pain that was non-existent, but it didn’t make it feel any less real.

“I can’t do that, Dean,” softly said the angel, as he started walking towards the door. “They would never stop coming for you,” he said on his way out of the motel room.

The angel opened the door, letting a large current of wind flowing into the room, sending papers flying all around the room. He didn’t notice that the weather worsened during his talk with Dean, that it was raining outside. Growls of thunder filled the room, as Castiel’s trenchcoat flew behind him almost like a cape.

“If you leave now, you lose everything!” yelled Dean, trying to be louder than the thunder. “You hear me, Cas? Everything!”

The angiel tilted his head and looked back just for a second, trying to etch Dean’s face into his memory. “I’m sorry.”

The door shut behind the angel.

Outside was storming. Castiel spied Sam returning early from his jog and hurried to the car. Sam already noticed him, but the angel was faster. He started his car and drove by completely confused Sam, who shouted something at him, but Castiel ignored him.

He didn’t stop until he was 50 miles away from that motel. He nearly got into an accident at least twice during his voyage. Stopping his car in the middle of nowhere, Castiel got out of the vehicle and sat on the hood of the car, not paying any attention to heavy rain. And in that moment he discovered something new about his species, something he was unaware for at least billions of years. He didn’t know angels could cry.

Dean sighed, inhaled and stepped down from the porch of the bar he spent last hour in. Sam was in the motel, doing research on the case they’d been working for the last 2 days and Dean was intending to join him, maybe after going for a quick drive. It was raining, and even though Dean usually liked rain, it helped him think, he had grown to hate it as it was reminding him of that early morning 5 months ago. Dean cringed at the memory and headed towards the Impala, kicking up gravel on the ground. He was just reaching out for the key in his pocket, when somebody hit him with something heavy on the side of his head, effectively knocking him out.

Dean came to his senses in a grey featureless and familiar basement. If his head wasn’t pounding like a thousand devils had partied in there, he might have even rolled his eyes.

“You guys are dicks,” he shouted out to nobody in particular.

He was partially angry at himself, getting captured twice by the same captors felt embarrassing. And the other half of him that wasn’t screaming with frustration was screaming with fear, with anticipation of pain. Pain he didn’t deserve, pain he could do nothing to stop.

Abruptly he heard the squeaky sound of the door behind him opening. Slow clicking of heels on the stone floor did nothing to relieve Dean’s fear and aggravated his anger. He remembered too damn well who was the owner of the footsteps.

“Hey Dean,” said Dina in a soft voice as she appeared from his right and knelt beside him. In her hand she was holding an angel blade and in her other hand to Dean’s horror there was a small hammer. Behind her two angels in suits appeared, moving silently like snakes. Dean felt himself shiver.

“I don’t know if you got the memo, but I haven’t seen Cas for 5 months now,” said Dean, trying to make his voice sound the usual level of snarkiness and confidence, despite growing panic in his chest.

Dina smirked. “I haven’t seen him in 5 months either. But it’s not him that is the reason for this.”

She stood up and slowly started to circle around Dean, the sound of her high heels echoing around the room. “At this point I just wanna murder you for purely selfish reasons. I’m tired of chasing cold leads. Might as well get me some entertainment in between. Plus your death might attract our wayward angel,” she murmured as she slid her finger across the edge of the angel blade.

Dean felt everything inside him squirm. It wasn’t the first time Dean was threatened with death, but this time, the bad guy seemed done with monologuing way before someone could swoop in and fix the situation. Abruptly the floor beneath Dean’s fit trembled. Dean, torn out of his thoughts cast a concerned look at Dina. “Is this you or should we be worried?”

Dina furrowed her brows but didn’t reply, just motioned to two other angels to check it out. As they headed towards the door, a force threw them back into the walls, as the door flung open. Light bulbs burst into millions pieces, as the entire room went into darkness and shook one more time with a growl of thunder. Dean heard a slight clinking of metal, as a small ray of light reflected on Dina’s now bared angel blade. The room was deadly silent.

“Show yourself!” yelled Dina. “No need to fight in the dark like cowards!”

“Very well,” said a quiet hoarse voice, a voice that Dean would recognise from millions.

As the lightning lit up the room, a pair of magnificent - damaged, but magnificent - wings appeared on the wall, as Castiel emerged from the darkness. His eyes were glowing blue, so bright that it was almost blinding and his trenchcoat was flying behind him in the wind.

“Make a move and I’ll kill him,” hissed Dina, holding a blade to Dean’s throat. Dean felt the coldness of metal just below his chin as he tried to lean back away from the blade.

“No, you won’t,” calmly said Castiel.

Dean felt the blade clatter into his lap, as Dina lit up from inside out and a soft sound of a blade entering flesh was heard. As the corpse of the angel collapsed on the floor, Sam, who apparently was the one to kill Dina, rushed to Dean from behind and started untying his wrists. “God, Dean, are you okay?” Sam hurriedly freed Dean’ right wrist

“Yeah, she didn’t even have time to touch me, you guys came on time,” grunted Dean, as he with Sam’s assistance freed his left wrist.

“Phew, thank god.” Sam helped Dean up and they started to head towards the door, when Dean stopped dead in his tracks.

“Where is Cas? How did he leave so quickly?” muttered Dean, gazing around the room.

Sam hesitated with the answer. “When you didn’t show up at the motel til morning, I called him to help me get you back. He agreed, but said that he wouldn’t stick around afterwards.”

Dean rubbed the nape of his neck. “Gone with the wind,” muttered the older hunter.

Sam furrowed his brows and gave his brother a concerned look. “Dean-”

“Tsh! Don’t say it, I’m fine. Let’s just go,” sharply said Dean and opened the door, pushing aside the corpses of angels with burnt-out eyes.

Dean woke up in the middle of the night. No wonder, he slept terribly after he was the only one in the bed. It took him around an hour to fall asleep after he and Sam returned to the motel near which Dean was kidnapped. They had taken two separate rooms on that trip due to having some… disagreements on their way there, so there was nothing and nobody to distract him and that fueled his insomnia. Dean sighed and stared at the ceiling, when he noticed something with side-vision. A figure, a painfully familiar figure, was sitting on the bedside near him.

“Cas?” sleepily grunted the hunter, recognising the blue eyes that shone bright even in the dark. “You came back.” The angel flinched, taken by surprise by Dean’s awakening.

“I wasn’t- I was just-” Castiel hurriedly got up and headed outside of the door.

“Wait,” called out Dean behind him. “Don’t go just yet.”

Castiel stopped. His shoulders flinched, as he hesitantly turned around and slowly walked back, perching himself up on the very edge of the bed. “Yes?” asked the angel in a tired tone, with a slight voice break in the middle.

‘You were right, they did try to kill me,” said Dean, not knowing how to start the talk, but not willing to let the angel go just yet. He wasn’t angry at the Castiel, deep inside he knew exactly what the angel meant when he said that it was dangerous for them to be together. And the angel did turn out to be right after all.

“I’m usually right.” Castiel avoided eye contact with the hunter. Nothing was heard in the room for the next couple of seconds.

“And you came and saved me,” continued his sentence Dean. His mind became clearer and clearer, sleep fading away.

“Well, me and Sam came and saved you. It wasn’t just me-,” said Castiel, furrowing his brows and slightly narrowing his eyes.

“Not my point,” cut him off Dean. “Cas,-” Dean grabbed the angel’s hand, making the latter one focus his attention on him, “-this is exactly what I was talking about. Any connections in this line of the work are a risk and we are liabilities for each other and the bad guys know it, but we get over it every time. And Cas, I need you.” Dean’s green eyes became slightly wet. “I need you so frigging much. These last 5 months been hell without you. And I can’t live without you. And you know what, Cas? I’d die for you any day. Because I know you’d do the same. So if you want to go, go. But just know that, what I went through today? I’ll go through worse for you.”

Castiel exhaled loudly and sat on the bed near Dean. “Dean-”

“No, Cas, I don’t wanna hear it. I don’t wanna hear the “they’ll never stop coming for you” speech again. Because I damn well know they won’t. But I’ll choose life with you over anything. So if you decide to come back, I’ll welcome you.”

Castiel hesitatingly looked directly at Dean for the first time since the hunter woke up. “I just want you to be safe, Dean.”

“And I just want to be with you. And I am not going to let you walk away another time,” shortly said Dean and patted the bed near him. “Come here.”

Castiel’s eyes lit up. “Dean, I’m so sorry. This should’ve been your choice-”

“Shh,” stopped him Dean, “Don’t apologise. You did what you did for me. Now come here.”

Castiel lingered for a second but then with a smile took off his trench coat, pants and blazer, throwing them in the corner of the room and climbed under the sheets with Dean.

“Thank you,” murmured Castiel as he threw his arm over Dean, feeling familiar warmness beside him. Maybe their relationship was dangerous. Maybe they were liabilities for each other. Maybe they were constantly risking anything. But in that moment Castiel felt like he was the happiest angel to ever exist in any dimension. And he made a silent vow to himself to not throw it all away.
