Cornwall continues to inspire greatness in creators and makers and gin is no different. I could have bought a different Cornish gin for every day of the week. This would have raised a few eyebrows and been difficult to store in my tiny cupboard at home although i would have given it a good go! I chose 2 and my second was a wild card. @curiospiritscompany caught my eye not least because of their snazzy labelling but because i love rock samphire. I checked their website for suggestions and went with a strip of lemon peel, a big sprig of basil, some cubeb peppercorns and @fevertree . The website describes Curio's gin as light and breezy and i would agree. There is so much flavour and the herbal notes of the samphire are lifted by the basil. This is such a beautiful gin that i think will shine with a more spicy mix of star anise and coriander or even cucumber and mint. I have made it to the the land of many boozes! @drinkfinderuk has a store in the middle of one of the most cornish villages you can find. Constantine is on the Lizard peninsula just outside Falmouth and in the centre is the Constantine Stores home to the most amazing selection of wines and spirits i have ever seen! There must've been over 300 gins. It may well be only 10:30 but the lady has offered us a taste of a few! Returning from the half term in Cornwall and to the chaos of business and everyday life I have paused to momentarily return to a cornish spring morning. Thankfully that comes in a bottle in @curiospiritscompany rock samphire gin! Paired with a sprig (is that what you call it?) Of salicornia to reference the rock samphire and a single star anise to bring out one of the botanicals used in making the gin and @fevertree_uk indian tonic This gave the gin a totally different profile, warming, fresh and spicy and totally delicious! Must explore star anise more. Thank you Cornwall for some wonderful gins i will be back in a few months and Im coming for @elemental_gin, @stivesliquorco gin and @tarquinsgin. I am out!!! Sitting in the Vault Bar in Penzance realising it's been a year since my last outing so i am making the most of it. Continuing my exploration of Cornish gins. Here is a delight in the form of @stivesliquorco St Ives gin. Every town should have a gin especially if they taste as nice as this. Cornwall's first cold compound style gin is as fresh and crisp as a the beautiful blue sea that laps Porthmeor beach. Served here with a single basil leaf and a happy slice of blood orange.
