'Since his breakthrough performance in Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later over two decades ago, Cillian Murphy has become one of the biggest names in acting. Later, Murphy honed his skills with an iconic performance as Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders and a series of collaborations with beloved director Christopher Nolan. After appearing in The Dark Knight, Inception, and Dunkirk, he now takes on the starring role of the eponymous Oppenheimer in one of the most anticipated films of the year.
Alongside the Irish actor’s love for cinema, he also harbours a passion for music. In his youth, Murphy sang and played guitar in bands, even meeting his wife at one of his gigs in the mid-1990s. His most promising band was The Sons of Mr Green Genes, named after the Frank Zappa song, which featured Murphy and his brother Páidi. Acid Jazz Records even contacted the duo to offer them a deal, but they declined.
Though Murphy’s gigging days are behind him, music remains a huge part of the actor’s life. During an interview with the Sunday Independent Life Magazine, he stated: “The only extravagant thing about my lifestyle is my stereo system, buying music and going to gigs.” He still plays and writes alone and with friends and was even featured on a recent single by The Coral.
Expectedly, for someone so well-versed in music, Murphy’s taste is varied. Though he presents on the alternative station BBC Radio 6, his taste stretches beyond dad rock. From the early synth-pop of Christine and the Queens to fellow Irish performer Van Morrison, Murphy has littered his interviews and radio shows with wide-spanning music recommendations. We’ve collated a number of tracks he’s shared his love for throughout the years.
Murphy once awarded the title of his favourite band to Radiohead, naming ‘No Surprises’ as the song he wishes he’d written in an interview with NME. He states: “I think they’re the biggest band, who became the biggest band in the world without wanting to be the biggest band in the world. They’re probably my favourite band.”
Murphy also once noted his love for the contemporary Irish band Fontaines D.C. On one of his shows for the BBC, he stated, “I’ve been playing a lot of Irish music, but I am Irish, and there is a great explosion of new Irish music!” He names ‘Liberty Belle’ as one of his favourite tracks from their 2019 debut album Dogrel, but adds, “Every single tune, they’re relentlessly themselves.”
Murphy also shared his love for rapper Kendrick Lamar, noting that DAMN was the first album his 11-year-old son ever purchased. Murphy’s own was The Final Countdown by Europe: “I’m not ashamed of it; it’s a great riff. But Kendrick Lamar… Look, I think he tips it.”
Ranging from Beatles classics to contemporary rap and 2000s indie, check out our collated list of Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy’s favourite songs below.
Cillian Murphy’s favourite songs:
Christine and the Queens – ‘Tilted’ Elbow – ‘Fly Boy Blue / Lunette’ Europe – ‘The Final Countdown’ Fleetwood Mac – ‘Man of the World’ Fontaines D.C. – ‘Liberty Belle’ Jackson C. Frank – ‘Blues Run the Game’ John Lennon – ‘God’ Kendrick Lamar – ‘YAH’ Low – ‘Always Trying to Work It Out’ Marvin Pontiac – ‘Small Car’ Massive Attack – ‘Hymn of the Big Wheel’ Paul McCartney – ‘Maybe I’m Amazed’ Radiohead – ‘Daydreaming’ Radiohead – ‘No Surprises’ Stevie Wonder – ‘Sugar’ The Band – ‘The Weight’ The Beatles – ‘Love Me Do’ The Kinks – ‘You Really Got Me’ The Strokes – ‘Someday’ The Velvet Underground – ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll’ Van Morrison – ‘Sweet Thing’'

Rating my Plushie Dreadfuls because why not:
Oh for context, Plushie Dreadfuls is a small company that designs and makes plushies (most particularly rabbits but the occasional cat as well) that represent various mental and physical disorders/illnesses/disabilities. They’ve expanded more into other designs like zodiacs and fruit, but they’re most well known for their plush representations of disabilities, illnesses, and disorders. They also add new designs every so often so I like to check in to see if there’s anything new!
This list also isn’t exhaustive of every diagnosis that I have which they have a rabbit for, I cut out a few bc mobile sucks with pictures. Honorable mentions to the dissociation, sensory processing disorder, trichotillomania, and grief bunnies!
Anyway on to the show-
Tumblr media
Anxiety rabbit: 5/10. I think the ears are kinda ugly… the fur doesn’t match the body and it doesn’t feel intentional. Otherwise it’s also a bit plain. I also fail to see how the alchemical symbol for ‘amalgamation’ fits in with anxiety. I like the purple version way more than the original orange tho.
Tumblr media
Autism Spectrum Disorder rabbit: 103839273927292/10. She is perfection. The off center gaze, her curious expression, the color scheme, the rainbow infinity symbol, I would die for her.
Tumblr media
Depression rabbit: 9/10. The scarring is really well done without being super dramatic. One point deducted because I was to hold him and make him smile (it’s okay little buddy, I’ll get you some plushie SSRI’s and take you to therapy and we’ll get better together).
Tumblr media
Dermatillomania rabbit: 11/10 I NEED HIM!! I’m constantly covered in scabs and cuts and bandaids so seeing him makes me so happy. Idk why tho, shouldn’t I feel bad for him too I dunno, I can give him matching bandaids and feel less like a freak, I adore him. Plus he’s just so goddamn cute.
Tumblr media
Dissociative Identity Disorder rabbit: …2/10. The color scheme is bland and feels unfinished. What’s with their weird coral color?? And the inner ear design feels cluttered and implies auditory hallucinations which are NOT a feature of DID.
Tumblr media
Dysphoria rabbit: 10/10, they are beautiful. I’m a slut for blue, pink, and white color schemes, plus the eyes are cute as fuck. Also who doesn’t love a good alternative color scheme? They might be a little lost in their own head but they look like such a good, soft buddy to navigate gender with.
Tumblr media
OCD rabbit: 6/10. This is their second OCD design and I have mixed feelings about both. This one is cuter ig but also feels less representative of OCD- the first design had more detail, including numbers on the backs of the hands. They both have a removable brain which is cute tho.
Tumblr media
Ochie (chronic pain) rabbit: 10/10, absolute perfection. Blue pink and white color scheme, cute bandages, the little heart on their chest, I love him. He and I can feel like shit together without judgement.
Tumblr media
PTSD rabbit: 5/10. The tears make it a little goofy to me, it feels like a teenager’s DeviantArt depiction of trauma. I wish the tears were gone and that the cuffs were removable to signify recovery.

Listen I gotta entertain myself somehow whilst sick okay?
Tumblr media
I'm not making this shit up either, some examples are:
"Dark Light Blue" being the name for a LAVENDAR marker
"Milky White" being the name for what is basically yellow ochre/mustard yellow
"Purple Grey" being the most neon shade of hot pink I have ever seen.
I don't know the exact colour order of the markers when I first got them because tbh the first thing I did when I got them was reorder them, but presumably they were in chronological number order so it'd be something close to maroon, pastel pink, a random green marker, red, dark blue, brown, etc.
Speaking of chronological colour order, I'm not even joking the first 5 markers' numbers discounting the colourless blender (0) are:
2 - Old Red
11 (?? Did you just. Not like 1 or any numbers from 3 - 10??) - Carmine
16 - Coral Pink (again, where are 12 - 15? Having a BBQ?) (Also I should note that this is literally neon red)
17 - Pastel Pink (finally, some consistency)
23 - Orange (oh for FUCK'S SA-)
Despite this they're actually really good markers, but it was probably pretty surreal for my dad to just hear an angry garbled mix of English and French being spoken in an Irish accent on the other side of the wall.

HEAD: Find Your Most Personal Decor Style with Seasonal Color Theory
SUBHEAD: How to make your seasonal color palette -- and your family's -- work together in your home.
BODY: You've read them all -- the articles on how to decorate your space according to your astrological sign, your Enneagram type, or your angel number. Something seems to be missing in the finished look, but what is it?
The answer lies in the lens you use. Personality metrics will have you decorating for how you feel, but what about how you look?
Look vs. feel is why my helpful and charming tend year-old son wants to decorate his room in black. Why my hyper-girly 11-year-old daughter wants her room to be swathed in yards of army green tulle. Why their older sister favors a boho-accented look in a shade resembling peach ice cream. And why their dad and I can't live without a bedroom in clear, airy, powder blue.
It's all about our seasonal color palettes. The Color Me Beautiful concept, featuring four seasonal palettes of Autumn, Spring, Summer, and Winter, took the world of personal style by storm in the 1980s.
Since then, under the auspices of Color Me Beautiful, stylists have expanded on the four-season concept to create 12 seasonal palettes. This expanded system makes room for multiracial people, and others who couldn't find their way in the original system, creating many more exciting possibilities to express their personal style.
So, why not use your own seasonal color palettes to decorate your home, too? Maybe your Deep Winter spouse wants a Bridgerton-inspired library nook in Prussian Blue. How about decorating your WFH space in Rose Beige if you're a Light Summer?
For communal spaces, like living and dining rooms, you might use universally-flattering colors like coral, turquoise, soft white, or taupe. Just remember to use neutral versions of those shades -- not too yellow, not too blue.
Here are a few more hints to get you started:
If you can't paint your space, rely on decorative accessories like pillows, throws, rugs, vases, artwork, coffee table books, trays, or tumbled stones to add color.
Get the kids involved in the process. Study their seasonal color palettes, and decide ahead of time what colors -- and how much color -- you can live with. Then, let your kids help choose from your final list.
Compare seasonal color palettes for those spaces, such as bedrooms, where more than one person will be sleeping. If no single color works for everyone, use a neutral universal color from the list above, and let each person choose a couple of decorative accessories from their palette.
As always, choose the colors that are most flattering to the people who will be living in the space. But, most of all, have fun.
BIO: Dr. Laurel Fishbear is a clinical psychologist, a mom, and her family's de facto interior decorator. She is a recognized expert in Seasonal Color Theory. A true polymath, Dr. Fishbear is also the Program Director for the Wash Day Radio Network, which hosts the popular radio programs, Febrile Ohms, and The Free South.

Daily Drabbles for 7/11/24 - 7/15/24
7/11/24 Jeasey took a moment to rest her arms and enjoy the view out on the lake. There were a number of houses that backed up to the water, but between them the lake was rimmed with dense green trees. Rising over the tree line to Jeasey's left the mountains stood majestically. Most of the snow had melted from the gray peaks, but Jeasey couldn't see them too well thanks to the clouds that had gathered around the mountain tops. The smooth lake surface reflected the whole beautiful landscape and the sky above. Jeasey paddled her kayak through the blue sky.
7/12/24 Somewhere a child screamed and Hina jerked awake. She'd fallen asleep in the back of the little auditorium. The room was dark and the benches on the back row were right by the wall so Hina could lean against it while the short film about coral reefs or whatever played. It had started over while she was napping. The screen showed a panning shot over a serene ocean while relaxing music played. Hina could have easily dozed off again, but her concern over where her friends had wandered off to overcame her so she stood up to find them instead.
7/13/24 Donny wondered what he should have for lunch. He'd had a big breakfast, so he should probably have something light. Maybe a salad? Although the salads Donny got from the diner down the street tended to leave him pretty full. He could get a sandwich. The diner had a fairly decent tuna fish sandwich that was nice and simple. Donny didn't usually get it because it didn't fill him up enough, so it would be perfect for lunch today. He could even forgo the chips on the side. Well, maybe he'd still get chips with it. Yeah, that sounded good.
7/14/24 Joe hummed the theme song to his favorite cartoon as he pushed his way through the underbrush in The Swamp. It wasn't really a swamp, not compared to the many true swamps Florida had, but it was dense, wet, and hot. Also full of bugs. Joe paused to watch a giant mosquito buzz by before continuing. The Swamp was a good shortcut between Joe's home and the strip of shops where the dojo and Donuts! were. Joe had passed through it many times and had yet to be eaten by an alligator as his mother frequently warned him he would.
7/15/24 Jenna was trying to have a conversation with Lenny. Trying. Lenny was being his usual unresponsive self, but mostly Jenna was distracted by all the traffic on the freeway. It was hard to try and read Lenny's enigmatic expressions while weaving between cars. Jenna didn't get how people in the movies could have conversations with each other without looking at the road constantly. They always had such great eye contact! But Jenna could hardly glance at Lenny before he started yelling at her to watch out for the car in front of them. He was so hard to talk to.

How About A Caribbean Vacation?
Let us day dream for a while, shall we? Close your eyes for a moment and just imagine… white sand beaches, beautiful blue translucent waters and the sun brightly shining on the horizon, and a breeze going through your hair.
Can you hear the wonderful dance of the waves? How peaceful! There are no worries or cares in the world to disturb you. It is a perfect environment for relaxation and gives you a great sense of well-being.
The Caribbean is the number one destination for travelers around the world. About Prince William: From 1995 to 2000 he attended the elite Eton College. He graduated from school in geography, biology and art history (“A-Level Certificate”, roughly comparable to the German Abitur).
The year after leaving school, he volunteered for a few months at a charity project in Chile and on a farm in England. In September 2001, William began a four-year Art History course at St Andrews University in Scotland. After two years, he switched to geography in 2003, which he successfully completed in June 2005 with a Scottish Master of Arts. His thesis was on the Rodrigues coral reefs in the Indian Ocean. In the fall of 2005 he completed a number of internships.
military service
On January 8, 2006 he was accepted as an officer cadet ( Officer Cadet ) in the Sandhurst Military Academy, where his younger brother Harry has been trained since May 2005. In the army he goes by the name William Wales. On December 15, 2006, Prince William left Sandhurst Academy after a successful education. The closing parade took place in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II. In this parade he was promoted to lieutenant ( Second Lieutenant ).
As Second Lieutenant William Wales, he served in the Blues and Royals Guards Cavalry Regiment from January 2007 to January 2008. From January to April 2008 he completed a four-month pilot training course with the Royal Air Force. On January 17, 2008, he undertook his first solo flight and on April 11, 2008, William, who at that time had the rank of Flying Officer (equivalent to a lieutenant) had, from his father the badge of the Royal Air Force, the so-called wings (English for wings), presented. In April 2008, the prince was criticized for several training flights in a military helicopter, as these flights mostly had a private destination such as his partner Kate Middleton's country home or his cousin, Peter Phillips' bachelor party. In the summer of 2008 he gained experience on the Royal Navy frigate HMS Iron Duke in the Caribbean.
In 2009 and 2010, William completed 20 months of helicopter pilot training at the Royal Air Force's Defense Helicopter Flying School in Shawbury, West England. There he held the rank of Flight Lieutenant (Captain). This training was followed by service with a Search and Rescue unit at RAF Valley Base[8] on the Isle of Anglesey in Wales from 2010 to September 2013. Among other things, he was involved there in November 2011 as co-pilot of a rescue helicopter in the salvage of shipwrecked people when the freighter Swanland sank. In early 2012 he had a six-week assignment in the Falkland Islands.
On February 10, 2011, Prince William was made Colonel-in-Chief of the Irish Guards.
In September 2013, a few weeks after the birth of his eldest son, Prince William decided to end his military career and to devote himself primarily to charitable work from now on.
As far as I know he was pretty serious with his helicopter job, so actually he had a job.
Yep he did, but it had nothing to do with his Uni studies... 🤷🏼‍♀️
The pilot thing was due to his military training which obvs was also mandatory for him.

Day 137 11/11/2021
Day off! Woop!
-This morning, I got up extra extra early to get my workout in since I had an early base station shift at 7 AM so a group could go out to Sand Island for a tour. During that shift, I drew and read.
-Later that morning we went out for a snorkel at rubble pile. There was sooo much to see. Lots of really cool coral and fish. I saw a huge Giant trevally and big school of Yellowfin surgeonfish. I also saw soooo many sharks. Dana and I were swimming on the Western side of the rubble pile and decided to swim across it when we saw the huge school of Yellowfins. Because it’s shallower over the rubble pile, the current was ripping so we were working trying to get across. That’s when we noticed about 4 blacktips coming over to check us out. We decided that crossing over the rubble pile would be too hard so went back the way we came. After getting back to the end, Dana kept going and I stopped to try and get a picture of a baby Striped surgeonfish. It took so long, but I got it :). Then Dana brought me over to a cool coral arch to take a picture through. I took some cute ones of her. She took a totally hilarious one of me where my chin looks like it’s radioactive and glowing. It’s slightly terrifying. After that, we got separated and I was distracted taking pictures of nudibranchs on the rubble pile. This was no easy feat. It is pretty shallow and it’s rubble so there’s nothing to grab onto so I was duck diving multiple times and kicking hard to stay in position. After finally getting shots of the blue dragon nudibranch and a teeny tiny cutie white one, I went up to get some air. Now, at this point in the snorkel I’m pretty zonked. We had been fighting the current and I had been holding my breath and kicking to take photos for a few minutes. As I’m coming to the surface 4 blacktips are charging right at me. And not with their usual slow curiousness. These boys (I think) were coming at me quick. One in particular came at me and I kicked it with my fin (I’m pretty positive I made contact, but it all happened so fast) swimming backwards as fast as I could. I’ve never had an uncomfortable interaction with the sharks here, but in this moment I definitely thought something bad was going to happen. I was very scared. They continued to follow me as a left the rubble pile and kicked hard toward to boat. Because I was going backwards, my snorkel was dragging and water kept getting into it so I flipped over and kept kicking. Once I was out of the shallows and over deeper water the sharks sort of backed off but I saw even more of them moving super quick. I was soooo out of breath and full adrenaline and still about 50 feet from the boat. I called to some of the guys that were already in the boat, but wasn’t really sure how they were gonna help me so I just took some deep breaths and kept swimming. The sharks were seriously on something today. Usually they move casually across the reef and they’re in pretty small numbers (we will see 4-5 per snorkel), but today I saw probably 10-15. As I approached the boat, they were all moving very quickly in the same direction. I got in safely and the started to calm down. In that same time span, Dana got charged by a shark and so did Chris. Some people thought that maybe they were mating soon and acting particularly aggressive? Maybe they’re was a reedy frenzy nearby? We don’t know. But they were definitely acting crazy. Anywayyyysss, that was very scary but looking back I don’t think anything would have happened. They may have bumped me and realized I wasn’t something they wanted to munch on. Nevertheless it was pretty nerve racking!
-Lunchy time and drawing.
-Beach and reading time.
-Basketball with Dana, Dan, and Crab King (aka Chris from UCSD Scripps). We call him crab king because he beat us at CRAB (our variation of HORSE) twice.
-More drawing and hanging out.
-Bed time!
