what's actually striking me during my reading is how inane and trite all those proship arguments are in their attempts to compare themselves to published works handling those topics. like go and actually read the bluest eye or lolita and then come back and try to tell me your underage marvel omegaverse incest oneshot is doing the same thing. like we know it's not! we know!
#unfortunately we'll never be free of them because people defend to the death their right to#write about whatever shit that gets them off. but. whatever! just block and move on if all we can do!#incest tw#the day that cp-hosting website fails is a day worth celebrating but. until then!#cor reads

No one tells you when you get a Big Serious Job™ how many fucking abbreviations you’ll be forced to learn.
#or how many abbreviations that you’ll come across that mean something different from what you’ve always known#I stopped reading a requisition to make this post because I read a sentence that was like#‘something something the COR and the contractor POC’#and I stopped like ‘contractor person of color???’ before remembering Point of Contract#also no one at my job tells you what any of this stuff means. they’re just like Morgan can you take care of this DOA?’#and I gotta sit there like Dead on Arrival??? before figuring out it’s a Delegation of Authority spreadsheet

“I am writing this in 2021, 700 years after the death of Dante. Dante’s Divine Comedy, completed in 1320, a year before he died, begins with the most famous book, The Inferno, where Dante is taken on a tour of Hell, with its 9 circles of horror, each one a kind of Behaviourist operant chamber, where nothing can ever change, where the same miseries and the same responses are acted out every day, because that’s what hell is - a place where nothing can change. At the end of Book 3, Paradiso, Dante sees the divine vision. At last he sees what ‘is’. The fundamental reality. And it’s not God is Logic. It’s not God is Thought. It’s not Descartes’ res cognita (a thinking thing). It is this: ‘L’amor che move il sole e l’altre stelle.’ ‘The love that moves the sun and the other stars.”

I ran to you not just with my bruised knees and muddy hands, but with all the joys, worries, and secrets my heart could hold.
You were the guardian of my little stories, little secrets; your embrace is my refuge where I never outgrew.
Always yours ❤️🩹🙏🏾

I've Read Your Rules ;;
{--Nothing fancy here. I'm just deciding to implement a small thing to help facilitate interactions as well as check to make sure people are doing their due diligence when following. My rules contain a lot of information that will tell people if we will/won't be compatible, including themes and triggers found on this blog, disclaimers, information about my muse, and about me as a person.
If you've read my rules and want to interact, please be sure to Like This Post.
This is now a requirement of interacting with my blog.
I'll generally give a grace period of about 1 month after following to complete this step, after which, blogs who don't will be soft-blocked. You are free to return and follow again later so long as you complete this step when you come back.
If you have a side-blog you want to interact from, feel free to leave a reply to this post below telling me so along with your Like so I know.--}
#ooc#psa#Rules have ALSO been updated as of today! So please don't just hit Like without reading first#also ''a requirement unless you're Cor or Bianca''#my VIPs 😌#The OG Crow Crew#{--going to permalink this in my rules page#but had a number of people who followed first or followed back#only to hardblock after I liked a starter call or just for no reason at all the next day#and I suspect it has something to do with them not having read my rules before they followed#which is very discouraging#this will also give me a better idea of who to approach when someone follows me#vs who just kind of mindlessly smashed the button--}

thoughts on kaleidoscope of death
i REALLY REAAAALLY liked the reasons behind the doors in the book. i loved the way they truly were a gift and how important it was to protect them from being stolen from you. that was so so so so interesting. night and day from the vr bullshit but i guess u gotta do what u gotta do
and also i loved how your appearance changed in the door.. not only that but it could be influenced by being sick or hunching over or wearing a wig?? im mesmerized by that im still thinking abt it
i really missed a lot of characters that were much more essential in the show... li dongyuan and tan zaozao in particular. it made some doors a lot less interesting particularly the river god one. like where are my friends all my friends are gone.
i hated the authors notes so much i wish i could have turned them off. initially they are the main reason i thought i hated the book. they were just so. like. ewpugh. idk
the translation was a bit jarring too but it wasn't an official translation and im the clown who can only read english so that one is on me
baijie and qiuqiu........ felt something
the way their relationship progressed actually felt really genuine and nice and HEALTHY! like damn they both think the other person is the coolest smartest sexiest person on this earth and that really comes through. i was kind of surprised because initially rnz came off as kind of creepy. but again. i think that was bc of the authors notes.... god. anyway
#'but cor didnt you say it was terrible?' well yes i did and yet here i am reading the whole thing 👍#just finished the box demon door 🫡

okay let me organize. this will probably take me to next year but I do want to prioritize what was already on my list
already up there, no matter the quality:
sorceror to the crown
when fox is a thousand
a taste of gold and iron (if I ever get around to it...)
sistersong - need to give this one a shot
snow crash
tress of the emerald sea - my baby brother LOVES this one I must not disappoint new:
anna karenina - my mom likes this one and I'm excited for the drama and writing
don quixote - a parody, I think
the count of monte cristo - I saw the movie! definitely on the list
the bluest eye - I was unable to keep reading this one when I initially started it but I really love morrison's other works so I'm bringing it back now
the metamorphosis - on the list but not available as an audiobook so it could be a while
things fall apart - definitely a priority, but not available as an audiobook
dracula - available but im saving it for halloween. the structure intrigues me. I tried doing the dracula daily but got bored
frankenstein - on the list!
gods of jade and shadow - not considered a classic but I still want to read it, don't want it to be left behind now that I'm in another bout of book-reading
giovvani's room - 14 weeks wait :(
journey to the west - I think I know enough to be able to follow it but maybe an annotated copy would be better
epic of gilgamesh - release an audio version 🥺🥺🥺 pleaseeee
one hundred years of solitude - I do want to read this but I think I will need help
crime and punishment - I tried to read this one when I started college but it was DENSE. lower priority
moby dick - I have friends into this one!
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See - this looks extremely well-researched and I'm pretty intrigued by the language that's referenced, the one that women use to communicate with each other
The Bonesetter's Daughter by Amy Tan - I like Tan's work, and this one is new to me
The Book of Chuang Tzu - so this is a chinese classic, written in the 4th century. goodrreads claims 'Where the Tao Te Ching is distant and proverbial in style, the Chuang Tze buzzes with life and with insights, often with considerable humour behind them." and if that's true I would love to read it
The Activist's Tao Te Ching: Ancient Advice for a Modern Revolution - I have no way to know how good this book is but the concept definitely interests me. it reminds me of an article about taoism's relationship to anarchism I read years ago. the summary makes me a little nervous tho
I've already read all of austen and the brontes I've wanted to, I read les mis, no interest in little women, I hate oscar wilde on a personal level, I struggle a lot with surrealism so I'm sticking to more conventional structures, I don't have a lot of interest in white 20th-century americana, I consider ishiguro's books to be modern classics with beautiful writing but they make me too sad, hmm why the fuck is call be by your name on this list...I'm interested in Taoism in novels but I haven't found a lot that offer that besides the danmei I've already read (ha) but it sounds like it will be a definite theme in JTTW. another reason to get an annotated copy. all the books I'm finding look like they're written by white academics anyway. I mean there's THE Tao Te Ching but I definitely need that one annotated and I think it would be difficult for me to focus on since it sounds a little dry.
I do want to get into historical texts like jttw it's just a question of how much I'd understand which is why an annotated physical copy is probably the way to go with something like that. like I saw an excerpt of the tale of genji and I was completely lost

Since you mentioned it, what did you think of Speak No Evil? I was thinking of watching it myself :0
i really liked it ............ my friend scoffed at me when i told her i was watchin it so take my opinion with a grain of salt tho </3
#snap chats#SHE DIDNT EVEN WATCH IT BUT W/E SPOILER FREE QUICK REVIEW DOWN HERE HIIII <3<3<3<3#ive been made aware my tastes are. Questionable so proceed with caution vlklvjv im so sorry if i convince you to see it and you dont like i#moving on I Have. done nothing but listen to Eternal Flame for the past week its been stuck in my head ever since#BUT FR as i said I Really Liked It. i heard that theres another/original version so i wanna watch that at some point#if i care to remember and find it vjaelkjeakl but as This Movie On Its Own i had a swell time !!!#it does a really good job of teetering that line of#'this is just a quaint little sometimes-awkward get-together' and 'this is so stressful i just might throw up'#it did a good job of keeping me invested and on my toes i guess- it bitters innocuous scenarios really well which i like#like i wasnt sure WHEN whatever scene i was watching would turn sour but i always had that feeling it /would/- that lingering feeling#the horror in this is more psychological than violent- it only gets crazy by the last quarter honestly#which isnt bad! i like psych horror and Christ. the amount of times i was just grimacing in my seat like Suspense Is The Word#like imagine a dinner party where people only say controversial things and you dont want to blow up the situation#so you just try to be really polite about pivoting from the topic. but they keep going. thats basically the horror of this movie at its cor#i do have SOME comments about some bits but i wanna rewatch the movie at some point to be thorough on my comments jglejlakj#yk do a rewatch where im. NOT jokin bout with my brother- THO TBF DESPITE THAT I was still invested#like its premise is so. simple? in concept imo. but 'simple' isnt automatically bad in my eyes and i really liked how it played out#i dont watch movies much tho so maybe its been done different but there is ONE thing tht definitely made me like. HUH#but its nothing super major i dont htink? I MEAN IT WAS KINDA BIG BUT there were signs to it being revealed. still it made me vjLJ like god#i cant explain tho cause SPOILERS but ... Yeah. its not that crazy it just definitely took me by surprise for how quick the reveal was#tldr: if you ever wanted to watch an awkward dinner party where you couldnt do anything about it this is the movie to watch#and i like that. i like that because i hate myself apparently jVLAEKJVAEKLJ#coupled with horror it was also funny at times which i felt did help with that underlying 'when will this be tainted' horror#i really liked that ... when normalcy or the feeling of safety can be taken away in an instant#if you watch it and wanna talk bout it more in depth ill prob have rewatched it by then and id like to give a more. Detailed review#OR AT LEAST ONE NOT SO RAMBLY VELKAVJEALKJ im not good at reviewing things .... i just know when i like or dont like somethin ..#ive only had my bro to talk bout this with and he doesnt really. Give his thoughts or opinions too much like i do#so id be happy to talk bout it and get your perspective !!!! but only if you want Again if you dont like it im so sorry erlakjaekl#god theres so much more i want to say but im just rambling and i wanna be brief for you my friend vlakjlakvlkj#anyway yeah. those are my quick thoughts. i was Very Normal about james mcavoy for most of this movie ty for reading
