My Dear Soothsayer (Loki x Reader) [Request]
thor ragnarok era drabble where reader is part of the grandmaster's court. she has a special gift where she can tell when people are lying, so she makes a game out of talking to loki since he's always twisting his words. it drives him crazy at first, but then he finds different ways to admit his feelings for her to see how long it takes for her to figure it out. just lots of fluff with good ole banter. — Requested by anon
This didn’t come out how I wanted, but oh well.
Warnings: none
Gif Source: MCUFAM
When Loki first appeared in the Grandmaster’s court, dragged in by the Grandmaster’s scrappers to your feet, the Grandmaster asked you if the silver-tongued devil was lying.
You told him no.
This carried on for several days, with the Grandmaster asking you if you sensed Loki was lying—always within the trickster’s hearing.
Each time you said no.
Each time, you saw the twinkle in Loki’s eye and the upturned curve of his lips as he suppressed a faint smirk.
You had him right where you wanted him.
By the end of the first week, Loki had secured himself a position in the Grandmaster’s entourage. The party that night raged long and chaotically into the morning hours.
It was then you pounced, cornering the trickster in the hallway.
“Silver-tongue,” you called.
He stiffened, spinning sharply to face you. A condescending smile pulled at his lips. “I didn’t realize we had progressed to name calling.”
You matched his smile with a viperine one. “I merely speak the truth.”
“The truth is malleable.”
“Yes, I suppose so.”
A faint crease appeared in his brow. “Did the Grandmaster send you?”
“No.”
He swept his gaze over you. “You sent yourself?”
You laughed and leaned forward into his personal space. “I did. You see, I have some use for you.”
His eyebrows arched, lips curving. “Oh?”
“Yes. You see, I am desperate for an escape from this place, as you are, I suspect. You’re going to help me.”
Loki’s gaze sharpened as he laughed. “I’m not the helpful sort.”
“The Grandmaster,” you continued, meeting his stare, “will continue to believe me when I lie to him about your honesty, but only so long as I decide to keep it that way.”
The smile fell from his face.
“Yes, I know you’ve been lying the whole time.
“I…have no idea what you’re talking about.”
Clucking your tongue, you stepped away from him. “I suppose you’re not the kind of man I need. I’ll inform the Grandmaster accordingly.”
You made it a few feet when Loki called out, “Wait!”
You smiled. He was right where you wanted indeed.
~~
“How does this work, then?” Loki asked the second night after the party.
“Well,” you mumbled, picking at the food on your plate, “I will deliver to you information as to how to escape.”
“I don’t believe you would be so magnanimous.”
“Obviously I would be going with you.”
“Ah.”
You could sense him forming the lie before it spilled past his lips.
“I make a most agreeable partner.”
“Clearly, when you are partnered only with yourself.”
He chuckled. “That is no partnership.”
“Then why am I speaking to a copy of you and not your actual self?”
The frown slashed his face so completely you laughed. The illusion vanished before your eyes, and the real Loki emerged from behind an archway, glowering.
“You see, there needn’t be any trust between us,” you informed him when you regained your composure, “because I always know when you’re lying, and you always know I can’t be lied to.”
“How unfair.”
“You have your magic tricks, and I have mine. If anything, that makes it fairer.”
Loki leaned against the archway, arms folded across his chest, and sized you up afresh. You could see his mind working, his eyes hard with deep thought.
“So,” you said, pushing yourself away from the table, “do you have anything more to say?”
“Such as?”
“Perhaps, ‘Thank you for choosing me to escape with, else I may be trapped here forever.’”
“We haven’t succeeded yet. Or tried, for that matter.”
You nodded. “Ah, well, it was worth a shot.”
You moved past him, intending to leave, but his hand circled around your bicep, forcing you to look at him. He searched your face intently, brow furrowed again.
“I see you dislike me.”
“I’m not in the habit of liking the people who place chains on me.”
“Perhaps you should get better at avoiding those chains.” Tugging your arm away, you sauntered off, unaware of the shift in Loki’s expression.
~~
The following week, you managed to pry Loki away from the Grandmaster. The former had been doing much to please the latter, enough to make you nervous. Serving you up to the Grandmaster would surely earn Loki the kind of trust he needed to earn himself a permanent position beside the Grandmaster.
“Is it now?” Loki asked.
“No, of course not. I haven’t told you anything of the plan.”
“Yes, about that—”
“Not now.”
You led him into another room in the grand palace and locked the door behind you before relaxing a fraction. The gladiator match wasn’t scheduled for another hour, so you had time to spare.
“I must say,” Loki purred, circling around the room, “no one has ever managed to keep me trapped for long.”
“But they still trapped you all the same.”
A cloud passed over his face. He met your gaze across the room. “Some traps are worth walking into.”
Your senses tickled, but it wasn’t because he was lying. Frowning, you watched him wander around the room, seemingly aimless. You knew, however, that nothing he did was uncalculated.
“So, the plan,” he prompted.
“It’s a matter of timing.”
“Isn’t it always?”
You matched his bared teeth with your own. “Besides, why would I tell you the plan just so you can run off without me?”
“You overestimate me.”
The laugh burst out of you. “I believe no amount of overestimation can truly scratch the surface of what you’re capable of.”
Loki’s sharp smile pulled at his lips. “Are you so desperate to scratch under my surface?”
Snorting, you ignored the bells chiming quietly in the back of your mind and redirected the conversation. “I hear you’re scheduled to fly with the Grandmaster on his pleasure ship.”
The mischief in Loki’s eyes glimmered. “Envious?”
“Hardly.”
“Then why do you mention it?”
“Because it may behoove you to pay particular attention to its security protocols.”
Loki paused, searched your expression. “Ah, this wouldn’t perhaps be related to your enigmatic plan?”
“Who’s to say it isn’t a misdirection to keep you occupied?”
“Ooo, am I boring entertainment?”
“You misunderstand what entertains me about you.”
Pushing away from the table in the center of the room, Loki sauntered over to you. “Oh, I think I know exactly what entertains you. My silver tongue.”
An unexpected shiver ran down your spine. Keeping your composure, you countered, trying to ignore how close he had drawn near you, “Insofar as I can use it.”
“Use it any way you like, my dear.”
Leaning forward, you felt his breath brush your lips. “Yes…I do believe it would look good mounted on my wall.”
You pulled back as he smirked, his eyes sharp with amusement.
“Tell me, soothsayer,” he purred, “how long have you been lying to the Grandmaster?”
“Longer than you, and better by far.”
He chuckled. “Perhaps you should offer to teach me, seeing as we are partners.”
“‘Partners’ implies equality.”
“Am I not your equal?”
“If you were, we would be gone from here.”
“Perhaps I’m not so keen on parting ways just yet.”
You frowned. “Why? Simply because you have the Grandmaster’s favor?”
“I was speaking more along the lines of the perks that favor brings me.”
“They won’t last.”
It was his turn to frown. “Well, I’d like to make them last as long as possible.”
His stare unsettled your stomach. Stepping away from him, you made for the door. “Keep your eyes open and your memory sharp,” you informed him.
“As you command, my dear soothsayer.”
Fighting the unusual feeling rising up within you, you fled the room.
~~
Loki’s adopted brother ruined everything. You watched the plan fall apart as Thor wreaked havoc in Sakaar, as Loki raced against Scrapper 142 to locate his brother. When they stormed through the Grandmaster’s building to reach the ship hanger, you raced up to intercept them, hoping you wouldn’t find the hanger empty of the one ship you had wanted for your escape.
What you found, to your surprise, was Loki writhing on the floor, one of the electric modules the Grandmaster employed set to the highest setting on him. Getting rid of it, you waited for Loki to still, the color in his cheeks returning to normal as he stared up into your face.
“Your silver tongue failed you this time,” you couldn’t help quipping.
“It seems my brother had grown wise to my tricks,” he grumbled.
Helping him to his feet, you pointed at the ship some of the prisoners were boarding. “It wasn’t my plan, but it still works.”
As you both crossed the hanger bay to the ship, you felt Loki’s gaze on you. “What?”
“I didn’t intend to leave on my own.”
He wasn’t lying, to your surprise. “But you turned on your brother.”
“He was never part of the plan.”
You blinked, slowing to a stop. “What plan?”
“Are we or are we not partners?”
A slow-dawning realization spread through you. Quirking your lips, you countered, “That implies we are equal.”
“I do believe you have the upper hand, my soothsayer—for now.”
Laughing, you helped him across the gangway, thanking the universe for having delivered a silver-tongued devil to you.

Miss you love au
N/A: Kurt, suffer. In this au, Brian never dates Meggan, for once, Courtney is a good person in this story. Meggan is a proud Lesbian and only Kurt is too dumb to not notice. Also, yes, Kitty is an adult.
Miss you love Please, listen to this song...it what inspires me to make this drabble aside of my hate for canon.
@djinmer4 @sailorstar9 @dannybagpipesarecalling @discordsworld @look-ma-no-hands336
Excalibur is facing a blistering day. In fact, the weather makes impossible for most heroes to stay in the gears, everyone but Rachel Grey, who is content in wearing her traditional red leather uniform, the rest? Is making a compromise.
Meggan is wearing something fresh for the day, sweat is blasting her blond hair and she´s drinking as much of water as possible, Brian, her good friend, is also complaining about the weather. "The air conditioner has to be broken today?!"
Brian Braddock aka Captain Britain is not wearing his usual shirt and is trying with all his might to fix the air conditioner, with no success, Meggan is waving him off using an old magazine. "Hey, gentle giant, how the fight between you and the machine?"
Brian is frowing. "I think the machines don´t like me, Meggan, is impossible to fix this" he explained and Meggan in good humour just punch the machine and suddenly the machine is working again. "Well, machines like you"
Kurt is trying to gain Meggan´s attention, who in return, is making her conversation with Brian take each minute as she can. Kurt tries to gain her attention by mention the mail, but, Meggan suddenly has the need to take Brian´s arm and go inside the house with him.
Rachel, with her red leather uniform, is busy talking on the phone. Scott is pretty serious about "no mental call, use the phone next time"
As Kurt is ignored, again. His cellphone rings a familiar tone that belongs to one person. The song is a private joke among them and it makes Kurt smiles as he knows Kitty has the same song for him on her cellphone.
"Hallo, elf, how are you in this fine night or morning?" Kitty asked and Kurt can close her eyes and feel she´s here with him. Pleasantries are exchanged as Kurt explains how the day is too hot ("No, Katzchen is not a euphemism...although I´m indeed hot" "Kurt, are you shirtless?")
"Elf, do you really meant what you said last week?" her tone is now serious and Kurt can really picture her, pouting, twirling one of her loose locks and feeling her fluffiest hair in all the fluffy.
"Of course, I´ll love to have you here, you´re my best friend, Katzchen" His tone is soft and he can hear her breathing on the other side of the phone.
"Then...yes, I´ll join Excalibur with you, elf" and Kurt gives some additional details about her entrance and only when Kitty hang up the phone that he realized he did spend the entire conversation with closed eyes picturing Kitty Pryde with her Garfield sweater.
____________________________________
Kitty Pryde was marked to arrive on 12 of May, however, thanks to the efficiency of the Airport and good weather, Kitty Pryde arrives in England way earlier.
Rachel Grey give a hug on Kitty Pryde. "Still with the cool outfit, Grey?" "Still with Garfield, Pryde?" a joke among friends and that makes her presence in Excalibur be even more welcome.
Brian shakes hands with Kitty Pryde. The man was polite enough with Kitty and Kitty can see his the leader, yet, Kurt shows up and is between Brian and Kitty.
"Katzchen, you´re here" there´s a different tone in his voice. Kurt's palms her face gentle and Brian never saw Kurt acting in such way before. "You choose to be here"
Kitty offers a nice smile. "Of course, elf, you´re not going get rid of me"
Meggan arrives at the scene and watches as the new woman finally notices Meggan. A smile is on her cute face and Meggan´s hair turn into a lovely shade of pink.
"Hi, I´m Meggan, I´m a super hero...and I can shapeshifter," Meggan said bluntly and Brian and Rachel are amused, Kurt is not seen why those two are so amused, and Kitty is impressed.
"You´re Gloriana!" Kitty speaks in her trademark tone putting her arms on her waist "the amazing Gloriana that is the strongest member of Excalibur and in the MI-13" and to be really unfair on Meggan flashes a cute smile and now Meggan is completely pink.
"That´s Meggan, she´s Brian´s girl" Kurt speaks to Kitty and Meggan takes offence of that.
"I´m no one girls and Brian has a girlfriend, Kurt, and I´m really single," she said looking at Kitty and Kurt notice the whiplash in her tone. Brian laughs at Kurt and explained how he meet Meggan, turns out, his stupid jealousy was even stupider as Brian is dating Courtney Ross and...most importantly, a fact that Kurt was too dumb to notice before.
"I´m gay, Kurt," she said as Rachel is laughing at taking photos of this moment. Kitty is left in the dark and prefers to not know what Kurt did in the past. Meggan looks at Kitty a bit afraid and she can understand this fear very well
"Oh, well, I´m American, Woman, Jewish, mutant and Bi. I´m full of pride of what I´m" Kitty said and told about her time in her first gay pride parade. Meggan feels safer now and the two talk excitedly. "Kitty, do want help to bring your stuff in?"
Kurt is the one left out. As Meggan and Kitty, along with Rachel and Brian are helping. Kitty is not materialist so she only has a few boxes with her, nothing really heavy.
And Kurt is left out.
____________________________
Kitty is the first on the danger room and is the one to ask to train with the elf, the nickname is still used and Kurt offers to spar with Kitty. It´s their little ritual.
"How are you, elf?" she asked looking into his eyes. There´s no need to lie about anything with her.
"I´m fine...surprised that Meggan is gay, but, fine...Am I the only straight member in the group?" he asked jokingly.
"No, Brian is straight too. You two can bond over that, the sad realization of being straight, poor Kurt...will never ride a unicorn"
"Well, I´d not think me and Brian will be friends that easily"
"Oh no, Flirtzilla strikes again?"
"Yeah..."
"Wanna talk?"
___________________________________________________
It was a sacred routine. 30 minutes of talking with Kitty, sparring with her or just doing nothing, it´s sacred to him. A routine that never in his wild dreams Kurt thought it would be broken.
One day, Meggan arrives in his doorstep, trying to be neutral, but, for some reason, Kurt does rub her in the wrong way.
"Meggan" the beautiful woman is still beautiful as always but she never truly smiles with Kurt. She gives a long sigh and speaks "I´m not here to apologise, Kurt, because if you feel like an idiot than it is your own doing, not mine, to be clear, I wouldn´t have picked you even if I was straight"
"Thanks, glad to know"
"I´m here because of Kitty..." her hair does not turn pink, instead, her checks do "she is talking about a book, the age of innocence and I heard you have a copy...can you lend to me?"
Kurt could lend the book. He´s not that into that type of literature, but, Kitty gave him this book, Kitty spend her money to give this book only for him and Kurt is not immune to be spiteful.
"You´re mistaken, I don´t have this book" Kurt states. Meggan does not believe. "Besides, I thought you didn´t know how to read"
Meggan should be angry by these words, but, she´s really not angry. She´s feeling pity and this is a look Kurt does not like. "I´m Roma, yes, but that cliche of illiterate Roma is a cliche that is not universal, I´m thankful for being able to know how to read and write, and would you believe I even went to school? " she jokes and continues "when I said to Rachel ''I can´t read this book'' you must have some gallant idea to teach this illiterate woman how to read, poor dumb Meggan, but, in reality, what I mean was ''I don´t like this book, Rachel and I don´t want to read it, ''
She gives a sad smile to Kurt. "Is ok, I know your foster family was a cliche after the other, but, not all of us are like them...and if you don´t want to lend the book, is ok too...I can buy a cope"
And with that, she leaves. Kurt is weirdly possessive over a book that is not even his favourite genre. A story about a love triangle is never his thing...but...Kitty gave this book to him. Only him.
______________________________________________________________ Today, his routine is being broken as Kitty and Meggan are talking about books and Movies and before anything could be said Meggan asks Kitty out. Kurt went to train alone. No Kitty went after him.
Next day, the routine is broken again. Kitty was called to give a class to students, it was a thing of last minute, she didn´t announce to Kurt, it was to Meggan.
On the next day, Kitty and Meggan are sharing jokes and telling stories about their past.
And on the next day, Kurt is alone on the danger room, no Kitty, and he hates this.
"Missing Kitty?" Rachel declares loudly in the danger room.
"She´s dating Meggan?"
"Yes, I think so, and she´s not here with you...but, you´re the resident manslut of this house, you´d not care, there are always other women for you to be a dick about"
"you´d not think I´m cable of loving a woman?"
"No" and relentless she continues "I can read your mind as Meggan can read your emotions. You put Kitty in this pedestal and thought she was your angel...she´s human and you can say what you feel for her...I did feel the same, but, I understand we weren´t meant to be"
"I love her," Kurt said and adds "and I don´t know what to do"
"Don´t be a dick is a good thing. Kitty thinks you´re avoiding her and I´m here to talk some sense into you...I know, me? I don´t like at all, but, hey...if that makes Kitty happy" Rachel trails of "so, stop hiding here or I´ll drag you upstairs if I have to"
___________________________________________________
Kitty´s hands, as Kurt remembers, are often tiny and warm, illustrating her personality in small but crucial detail. Kurt remembers how one time they hold hands. His big and blue hand are perfect for her delicate one. He remembers every vivid detail about that moment, yet, can hardly recall the woman he did date on that time. Well, it wasn´t dating, only sex, still, Kurt can remember more of Kitty(Katzchen) then the random woman he did sleep.
Now, Kitty can´t hold hands with him anymore, her hands are often holding Meggan´s.
"Ah, they make such a cutie ship" Courtney Ross, the Captain Britain´s woman, as Kurt mentally adds, is in Excalibur to celebrate the holiday. Brian is amused at the scene.
Meggan and Kitty helping to decorate the place. Both women have different tastes and ended up discussing the choice each one makes and in the end, they made peace with each other.
Kurt is left alone. Like always.
Kitty notices Kurt, and the elf can pretend that everything is alright. The man offers a big smile at her and Kitty give a small one. "Hello, Kurt," she said, no nickname, and that makes his heart drop.
"We haven´t talked much" there´s an accusation on her tone and is visible she´s feeling a bit guilty too. "I know you must have been upset that me and Meggan are an item now. But, this situation is stupid. You´re my best friend and I´d not want to lose you"
"And you won´t...I was being stupid, I have no problems with you dating Meggan" Kitty looked at him with those does eye. "...Are you happy with her?"
"Yes, and are you going full Wolverine over Meggan? I´d not want you to rip my photo to look at Meggan" she jokes in a depreciative way that displeases Kurt very much.
"No, believe I have no feelings for Meggan, never had and never will," he said and let Kitty touches his face(oh, feeling her fingers on his face is...too good) as she examines his expression. Kitty can always tell when Kurt is lying.
"You´re not lying. Can you forgive me then? I was a fool...you´re my Best friend and I should have reached to you hard" Kitty said and Kurt, pretending very well, as he mentions how there´s nothing to forgive.
Kurt didn´t lie to Kitty. He has no feelings for Meggan. He has feelings for Kitty.
And at the end of the party. Kurt saw Meggan and Kitty kiss. A good excuse that he needs to go to the kitchen to grab more drinks didn´t raise suspicions.
Kurt cries a little. Letting tears be the manifestation of his stupidity or how life can be cruel.
"I´m living the plot of age of innocence," Kurt said bemused. And clean his eyes as taking a good and deep breath pretends this is just a play and this is a happy ending. Sometimes, the hero does not get the girl nor he deserves the girl. And maybe, Kurt reflects for a moment, that´s enough, sometimes, the hero does not truly understand love and can´t expect a woman to fix him.
Kurt returns to the party smiling as always and pretends very well to be happy as Meggan and Kitty are being such cute couple.
Could have been me there?

Puzzleshipping drabble number whatever, I lost track
Based on the Chainsmokers and Coldplay "Something Just Like This". I recommend giving it a listen before reading so you understand where I am coming from on this (plus it's just a good song, imo). Setting it in canon, pre-Battle City. Specifically before that whole bogus date thing with Anzu.
~~~~~~~~~
Ding-dong-ding-dong.
The cue of the last period of school rang throughout the building. Busy student bodies hustled out of the classrooms, and some stayed behind to do their typical chores. Yugi being Yugi, he is lucky to be the quieter one among his group of friends and doesn't get picked to do the chores often until his turn comes around. Anzu is the studious type and is often liked by the teachers, so she doesn't get stuck doing them often either, so the two usually walk out together. Jonounchi and Honda are not so lucky. They typically plan to catch up by meeting them somewhere after they are done with whatever chore they were stuck with.
After figuring out where they want to meet, Anzu and Yugi opened the doors to the outside world to see it pouring down rain. They groaned in disappointment simultaneously.
"I didn't bring an umbrella..." Yugi muttered with his shoulders slumped forward.
"I knew you would forget," Anzu said and handing over an extra umbrella. "Here. You can keep it. Just take care to not lose it, okay?"
"Ah, thanks Anzu!" Yugi thanked her with a big grateful grin and opened the umbrella. He joined her on the descent of the slick steps and walked out the gates of the school.
The duo continued on their walk to their destination that they will meet their friends at in quiet. They listened to the rain dropping on the canvass cover above them and all around in their surroundings. While it is annoying to them to deal with the potential of getting sick, the rain within itself is serene and relaxing to listen to.
It'll be helpful when doing homework later, Yugi thought to himself. Which reminds me...
"Could you keep up with the history in class today?" Yugi asked Anzu. "I got really lost and I kinda fell asleep for a little bit..."
"Meaning you gave up and took a nap," Anzu clarified and gave a teasing smirk. Yugi blushed in embarrassment and didn't try to defend himself. "But yes. I can lend you my notes and you can copy them to try to understand it better."
"You are the best!" Yugi cheered and accidentally let go of the umbrella when doing his little "hoorah". He lets out a little "oops" and picks it up with an extra tight grip.
"I told you to take care of that!" Anzu laughs, trying to be serious in her remark. She ultimately fails.
"I know, sorry," Yugi bashfully smiles, enjoying the fact he made his friend smile.
"Speaking of history...I want to ask you something a bit personal. Is it okay?"
Yugi looks up from his spot underneath the umbrella to see how serious Anzu is. She smiles, but there is a strange stress behind it. Like strings were the only thing keeping the ends of her lips curved up.
"Of course...what's bothering you?" Yugi tries for a more gentle and open tone, and it seemed to help her relax some.
"Have you wondered...what your other you was like before we met him? Before you completed the puzzle I mean."
"Kind of...I haven't thought about it too deeply. Why do you ask?"
"I have been wondering lately...ever since we learned more about the Items themselves and where they were from, it makes me wonder where he came from too. What kind of life did he live? How did he get stuck in the Puzzle? Questions like that. I know its not really my place to wonder about a life that wasn't mine, but...we are undoubtedly a part of the mystery now."
"It's okay, you are not the only one. I think Other Me has been wondering the same thing lately."
Yugi cradled the Puzzle with his free hand and looked down at it. The mystical gleam reflected his image in the carved gold. The presence of the soul residing inside shifts and the mental connection sparks. He feels the "weight" moving around, like he is looking back up at Yugi at the mention of him from Yugi himself. Soon after, his heart turns away again to let Yugi be. It stung Yugi a little, but more than anything, he was disappointed in himself.
I'm sorry Other Me, I know what it means to you to learn about your past, and I wish I could be the hero to get them back for you...but I don't know how.
"How is he, by the way?" Anzu asked, concern clear in her voice. She must have saw Yugi's expression just now.
"He...He tells me he is fine, but I know it's not true." Yugi felt a twinge from inside when he said that, a clear reaction from his other half. "He reassures me, and I have tried to do the same for him...but sometimes it's like talking to a brick wall. He won't tell me everything. I am pretty sure I know why he is acting like this, but I want to hear it from him of what he wants. Not because I pushed him to do something about it."
"Why won't he tell you?" Anzu asked again. "I thought you two told each other everything."
"That's the only thing I don't know the answer to." Yugi carressed an edge of the Puzzle with his thumb, a nervous habit he has developed since he finished it.
Other Me...why won't you tell me?
-Later....-
Yugi returned home after many hours of arcade playing and stuffing his face with fast food with his friends. He hurried up the stairs to his room and dropped his backpack at the edge of his bed and flopped onto his back. He lets out a blissful sigh and smiles to himself. He stares up at the blank, slanted ceiling as his mind unwinds from the exciting evening. With Anzu's help earlier, he finished copying down clear notes as they ate, so he had the rest of the night to himself and his Other Self.
Almost on cue, his Other Self formed next to him. Yugi smiled up at the ghost beside him and sat up, cradling the Puzzle in his hands to keep it from bumping against his chest. He turns to face him directly and grins even wider.
"Did you have fun tonight?" Yugi questions, his body tense with eagerness.
"Of course partner, that's like asking if the sky is up," The Other Yugi answered with a chuckle. "I see some of your excitement hasn't faded."
"Of course it hasn't! Some of those combos you pulled were amazing! And seeing Jonounchi rage like that, I have never seen anything like it! Its like you have played modern games all your life!"
"Remember, we share a body. So some of that credit goes to you."
"That's not the point! Its like you untapped potential in my muscle memory and used them! I didn't think our fingers could move that fast! It's like...like you are super human!"
"Oh please, you are exaggerating."
"I'm not though!"
They laughed together, but once that laughter subsided, it fell into an awkward silence. The energy and life seemingly depleted from Yugi's voice and the fun conversation ended. The Other Yugi frowned and let a hand hover over his partners shoulder.
"I'm not exaggerating..." Yugi repeated seriously, his eyes cast down. He held the Puzzle tighter and carressed it. "Everything you do, you seem to do with little trouble and do it so much cooler than anyone I know. Like you are some hero that jumped out of a game, or a shonen protagonist from a manga. But as soon as you need help, I can only do so much...I don't know how to help with your memories, I don't know how I will ever compare to you."
Yugi looked back up after finishing his thoughts. What he got in return was a soft glare. Can a glare be soft? He didn't know, but the expression his Other Self was pulling off was not pleasant. Still, it had that gentle factor that he only held for Yugi.
"You really still think that of yourself after what happened during the duel with Pegasus?" The Other Yugi gently inquired. "After the whole Otogi incident and the fire? I don't think what you think of yourself is true at all. Or of me."
"What do you mean?" Yugi raised his voice slightly in confusion. He shifted uncomfortably when he realized he is still underneath that stare and will be stuck until the conversation is over.
"I only do what is needed to be done in the situations we have been in...I did everything in my power to push all of us forward in our goals and to keep everyone safe, and thankfully I manage to keep winning to do just that. But I only win because I have you and everyone else on my side believing in me. I believe in the person that you all see in me. I am no more special than everyone else." He pauses and half heartedly chuckles with a soft smile. "Actually, I wouldn't be here at all if none of you believed in me. You believing in the Puzzle is what brought me here."
"But...we don't know who you used to be...so what if you were someone important?"
"I don't care if I was." Yugi's heart skipped a beat at that, their recent conversation tickling the forefront of his mind. "It doesn't matter to me if I was a man with power or with none...I want to be here with you."
"Me too..." Yugi echoed the same words like before, tears pricking the corner of his eyes. "But...why do you think so highly of me? I am just...me. Even if I have done some stuff, I am no hero. "
"That's exactly why I think so highly of you. You are you, partner. Kind, compassionate, loyal, and determined to see good in everyone...you do things I could never do, and you have taught me so many things in so little time. I want this ordinary life with you and continue learning from you...and to continue knowing what kindness is like from you."
Yugi smiled at his Other Self and held thr Puzzle closer to him. Almost like a replacement for a hug he could give. The Other Yugi returned the smile and moved his hand to hover the Puzzle, cupping it. A warmth filled Yugi's chest at the return gesture.
"If you believe in me like that..." Yugi began and sniffed a smidge. He let the tears flow as he talked. "Then I definitely promise I will become someone you can be proud of!"
It doesn't matter if you won't tell me why you are so conflicted...but I don't want you to blindly choose to stay here for my sake. You deserve a chance to know more about yourself...I promise also to give you that chance!
"And I will be more than happy to see that happen for myself."
Your being pretty rude about the request stuff
I’m sure it seems rude on your end, but please take a moment to put yourself in our position and consider the following:
1) The two of us run more than one blog. I’m currently on three, and I believe Ren has 4 if we don’t include our personal blogs (Yes two of the three I’m on I’m running with a second person, but that doesn’t mean I’m doing any less work). This means we are filtering requests both input and output across multiple blogs with varying amounts of followers. The other main blog I’m on has over 1300 followers while writing-yj just recently passed the 1000 milestone. That’s a lot of people who want to see our works, and Ren is very busy with requests she took for the milestone. We can’t always have the inbox open on this blog or our other ones because it’s just not possible to turn around requests that fast when also factoring in life and motivation in general.
2) Everything is marked clearly in the heading of the blog and in posts. This is more or less the standard with every single writing blog on this site. It’s difficult to find a writing blog that doesn’t mark their state of requests at the top of their blog in general. We have also released posts stating when we have stopped taking requests. If you scroll through to look they are clearly still there. But just in case you don’t believe me, this one is mine, and this one was Ren’s. I didn’t have to look very far for Ren’s, considering it was literally the second post down and in nice big letters for everyone’s easy reading convenience. The anon who requested nsfw drabbles got a free pass as I wasn’t annoyed by it. I can understand mis-reading the heading of the blog if it’s done at a quick glance and at least one thing is marked as open, especially since I am only taking 5 of those at a time and the request I made concerning my closure of them was very early on in the posts. It’s not our fault if people don’t read what’s very clearly in front of them
Which brings me to my next point
3) We have had several issues with requests on this blog. The most prominent one, was the fact that more than one person was guilty of sending their requests (literally copy/pasting) to the inbox of more than one voltron imagines blog. One of which was posed as an “emergency ask.” Keep in mind we don’t have any issues with writing them, but we are less inclined to believe the person really needs/deserves them when we see it pop up in multiple blogs. It really just looks like the person is just trying to get their request done quicker by manipulating the writers so that they may “cut” in line. Which is a really shitty thing to do as it could potentially ruin the purpose of emergency asks for people who may actually need/benefit from them. The other more prominent one, was the person whom we made the callout post for. This individual was guilty of sending it to at least 5 other writing blogs that we have documented (again literally copy/pasting the same request on and off anon while submitting it to this blog a second time after being told no the first time). This is beyond frustrating for a writer for multiple reasons. A blog who doesn’t know, could see that you posted a work with the exact same plot base as theirs and believe you were copying/ripping their work and start shit (This happened to Rae on my other writing blog before I joined when an anon sent the same request to her and another dc writing blog. I’m not sure if things were resolved nicely as I think the other blog didn’t believe Rae but I may be wrong on this). This also goes back to the second point about people not reading things. We had stated several times to multiple different people that we were only taking drabble prompts off a list. Here are some examples. And those are just from the beginning of the blog when we didn’t have that many posts up! I did bring up the point to Ren that maybe to help lessen the number of people sending in incorrect requests is to reblog the prompt list every 3 or four drabbles going forward and she agreed. However we have literally been dealing with people like this since the blog was formed.
4) There’s honestly only so much a person can take with a smile. As stated in the last point we’ve literally had people sending in whatever the felt like sicne the blog opened, which is cool sometimes, but not when you have a drabble list people are supposed to be choosing from and especially when you have several answered asks where you remind people of this fact. AT some point you just have to start getting mean about it because people seem to pay attention more to what the “bitch” bloggers have to say. If you wan’t to label us as rude for being upset that we have to constantly keep reminding people who aren’t reading our rules we can’t stop you but we just want you to know that it’s incredibly ignorant for you to think so.
I’m sure I have more but I need sleep so I’ll end things here. Ren might take this back up in the morning.
Lastly, because I know Ren would be pointing this out if she were awake: *You’re.
Sincerely, a very tired yet somehow still awake Terra
Tl:dr Super Bitchy Version: We have to take a hard stance on requests because we run more than one blog and need to keep things clear, concise and organized if we want to keep writing for fandoms we enjoy. You really shouldn’t be asking “Why are they so ‘rude’ with our requests?” But more like “What are so many people who can’t read doing on a writing blog?” If I have to go down in infamy as the “bitch” writer then so be it but both of us are just sick and tired of having people purposefully ignore the rules and statements we put out in order to shove their ideas in our face and expect us to take it and write it with a smile.
#terra says#it's not that hard to see when stuff is open and when it's not#and also what form of requests we are taking#and if you're not sure just ask before sending something in seriously guys#Anonymous
