Hello, Megan, I hope you don't mind any curious cats in your askbox, as I'm here to ask how did you fell into Homestuck? You seem like a relatively freshly-baked fan, and I wonder if there's a story behind it :3

hello!!! i don’t mind at all! :D and i am a new fan, lol!

OKAY SO, in 2020, my friend dave got really into it (he’s actually even cooler than dave strider, it’s wild), and he was like, “please read homestuck” and since i was *literally* stuck at home, i thought “this is the perfect time, this is my homestuck moment.”

that being said, all my knowledge came from dave (who was currently getting scarred with the epilogues), which means all i knew was that:

1. there’s trolls

2. there’s characters known as karkat and dave, and they are in love.

3. there’s characters that represent zodiac signs, and when i asked dave “who represents mine?” he replied with, “i’m so sorry” (i’m a scorpio LMAO)

4. obama’s there, and dated someone’s newly evil brother??

5. sharpie bath tub 🤨

so i started reading it (the poor way, aka on the official website, on my phone), and i was SO confused. like who is John, why have i never heard about john, and where is karkat?? but i kept reading, and i did not hate it, i was just very lost LMAOO, i think i got to the end of act 1.

but the other problem was, is that it was on my phone and in safari. which means i was never inclined to open it again. i just kept that tab opened, and if it was a book, it would have been dusty as hell. i ended up taking a different path while being quarantined in 2020, aka glee 😔 i fell down that glee rabbit hole and i wasn’t going to leave it.

BUT, in the glee fandom i met like the coolest people alive. and one of those incredibly awesome people is my friend cherie :D in 2022, cherie fell back down their own homestuck rabbit hole once again, and this time they were bringing me down with her, LOL.

i started reading homestuck again, so i could talk about it with cherie, and i *finally* got into it (dave and i recently called, and we were drawing on whiteboard, and he still makes jokes about how long it took me LMAOOO). but cherie actually held me accountable for reading it, i could no longer leave it lost in my tabs, because everyday cherie would send me an epic “have you read homestuck today” reminder >:) i think i finally finished on easter 2023. (or maybe it was a few days before, because i remember reading the candy epilogue on easter, but just know it was around that time!!)

so ty to my friends for giving me brainrot, i love them very much <3 i don’t regret it at all, because when i entered my glee era i stopped drawing for awhile, but being in the homestuck fandom as really revived that spark. i feel like i’m 14 again, and it’s so much fun :D

there will be a tournament to decide who the most cool homestuck character ever is … first wave of round 1 will be unleashed on Tuesday the 7th of February at 9pm gmt :3

64 homestuck characters have been randomly matched up 2gether in order to determine who the true coolest character in the whole damn comic is

since james roach legally owns homestuck hopefully him seeing that post will make him acknowledge that aradia is the coolest character in homestuck and make her be the main character of hs2 and make the whole comic about her and get rid of all the other characters and make it all be aradia

not to be that guy but i feel like the only reason latulas winning currently is because of hs2 which took dirk strider from being ‘guy putting up a cool front but he still does actually cool stuff sometimes’ to ‘comedy relief loserguy in anime cosplay’ which makes it literally impossible to vote for him vs latula because compared to her, a character whose only character trait is very similar (surfacewise) to how dirk was in homestuck, like obviously people are gonna pick latula even though compared to regular dirk shes kind of a loser because compared to ult dirk shes radical as hell and solos ez

(this isnt a criticism btw its an observation . i like figuring out trends in stuff im an analysis nerd. pls still vote for whoever you want)
