Is there a historical reasoning for Yoritomo's stomach issues or is it just supposed to be manifestations of his anxiety and guilt? I'll also accept "Yoritomo is cursed to develop stomach ulcers every time his brother is in his presence as punishment for being a dick" as an answer.
The only thing I've seen about his medical issues was related to his death and they already have that covered with his fear of riding horses.

I have a lot more final Midst thoughts than just this, but what occurs to me is that Tzila has been set up to be quite possibly to the coolest person in the universe post canon. She has a sorceress/bounty hunter’s divination bag and motorcycle, a functionally immortal dog, experience in combat an espionage and stowing away, a ring of extremely cool and (at least formerly) politically connected dads/uncles, and role models such as Lark and Saskia, all at age 12 1/2. Imagine her at 24. Absolutely unstoppably cool.

I’m holding your hand I care too I care very much
Do you want to know part of why I care so much? The chosen one prophecy following the Oak family kids.
If I remember correctly, the prophecy says the firstborn child of the one who summoned the doodler would be the one to make it leave or something like that. Well, I’m pretty sure it’s been phrased as ONES, but we all know that Sparrow just kinda stood there. The most he did was say ‘hey dad Lark wants to talk to you.’ As much as the twins pretend, they are not the same man twice and their separate actions have separate consequences.
Meaning that if Normal is Lark’s son.
Well, the prophecy isn’t about Hero anymore. It literally can’t be.
slowly accepting that nobody cares as much abt the rebecca/lark affair and the possibility of lark being normal’s dad like i do. i will probably never got closure on it. i will not get a scene of lark embracing his son. and that’s fine i’m actually being really brave and level headed abt it. not even kind of foaming at the mouth.
#and every time i think I’m gonna stop caring#Anthony has an NPC imply that Sparrow is not Normal’s dad and i lose my mind#I originally had a theory that HERO was Lark’s kid#because Lark said something about how the timeline didn’t line up#but the prophecy made me change my mind#plus sparrow killing like half a world’s population to save normal and normal might not even be his#Normal having frequent stories about both his dad and uncle beign involved in his upbringing#When normal had a heart-to-heart of ‘don’t let our relationship wind up like the one between you and your dad’#it’s with lark and not sparrow#Also normal has a better relationship with lark rn than he does sparrow#so i have NO IDEA what the reveal that lark is actually his dad is gonna do to them#I also really want to be a fly on the wall for that conversation in the Oak-Swallows-Garcia household because.#how the FUCK does one even go about talking about that#y’know. with her training and the Druid ancestry passed down through the family. i wonder if Hero can turn into a love wolf…#tbh I could completely see the whole season ending with lark approaching normal like hey can we talk#and normal being like uhhh sure I guess and lark talking to him about how he was really sorry that he made normal question who his parent#was and how that wasn’t cool. and knowing normal he’s gonna start getting heating like YEAH it WASNT cool—#and the lark pulls out a memory syringe and sticks normal in the back of the head to remove that memory#it’s too awkward for normal to know at this age

stop being a goblin and let me kiss you
part 3
˚✧₊⁎ ⁎⁺˳✧༚ ⁎⁺˳✧༚
‘ok. ok! you just, you just gotta be cool munson. be casual. chill. just like, vibe, yeah? yeah. no more funny business.’ eddie holds his fists up to himself in the dinky bathroom mirror. a couple of jabs, a quick one two, that’ll clear his head.
clear his head enough to go out and deal with steve fucking harrington again and his stupid stupid face and neck and tongue and like pretty fucking ankle bones. fucker.
see eddies not blind, and he’s not that dumb, he knows he flirts with steve and he knows steve flirts back. he just. cant deal with it just yet. it’s like every time he’s around the guy he blacks out and resurfaces red faced and half hard. but the point at which his vision fades and all hell breaking loose seems to vary so completely that he can’t stop it happening.
their conversations will start normal, a jolly lark, a guffaw here, a story there but then bam! someone said or did something that shifted his functioning brain capacity from 60% on a good day to like -5% and that’s being generous.
he just can’t get his ratty little self to either 1) stop liking steve harrington in a gay, gay, homosexual way. or 2) accept that someone like steve harrington could possibly like aforementioned rat himself eddie munson and actually process his feeling into a reaction that’s more than; red, red, half a boner, sweaty palms, red.
so he took a second to hide in the bathroom. that’s fine, that’s kind even. self care, as robin likes to say when she paints her nails on top of steve’s head when he sits on the computer at work. he likes to make the chair super low because apparently it helps his posture and he need to keep an eye on his posture or else he’ll end up like his great uncle melvin, or something.
self care time is over however because robins knocking on the little bathroom door, hollering about needing to get home to practice for her english presentation tomorrow. so it’s time for eddie to put his big boy pants back on and get in steve’s car.
eddie full body shudders.
‘finish writing you sad boy poems on the stall walls in there? roses are red, violets are blue, i like big dumb jock boys but can’t seem to accept they like me too, even if my very cool very in the know friend robin tells me too. hm?’ robin slings an arm over his shoulder and steers him back to the table.
eddie sniffs, crossing his arms ‘that last bit doesn’t rhyme so, i will be ignoring all of it. F for u buckbey.’
‘not everything has to rhyme perfectly u know. it can still fit together just fine as it is.’ she tugs on one of his curls before slipping back into steve side, finishing off the last of his milkshake and hauling him out of the booth because she ‘has shit to do dingus.’
too smart for her own good that chick. eddie loves her. he’s also going to move away and never talk to her ever again, maybe steal her collection of berets too, become a hat guy, once he reinvents himself. yeah.
steve is putting a few bills on the table, slinging his jacket over his shoulder. ‘just fries tonight ed’s? that makes you kind of a cheap date don’t you think?’ tapping eddie under the chin before following robin to the door, smacking his palm on the frame above on the way out. because of course he does, the neanderthal. all broad shoulders and biceps and ass.
there a second where eddie thinks steve could smack him like that but then he feels his vision spotting. can a guy not catch a break around here? jesus!
the car ride is a blissful reprieve due to cyndi lauper coming on, which had steve and robin performing a duet. which then needed to be tweaked and discussed in detail ready for the next time that specific song came on the radio.
it was honestly nice to watch. eddie had walked to family video that day because his van keeps playing up after it’s stint hidden in the woods. poor girl just needs a day off once in a while so eddie walks and then listens to car duets from two very much none singers. but it nice. makes his heart all yucky and warm.
until robin is leaving. leaving him alone to be a big nerd with a future. leaving him alone to make a fool of himself again. his ego is big and he likes to keep it that way.
‘you coming up here then’ steve shifts slightly, looking as far as he can over his shoulder at eddie huddled behind the drivers seat. ‘no’ he squeaks because last time steve got all up in his face getting his tape box out of the glove compartment. rifling through it while it was on eddies lap. so close eddie could smell the apple from his shampoo and the cigarette they’d shared earlier.
self care.
‘ooh you want the full harington taxi service do you? i see, well then govna, where too is it?’ steve tips his invisible cap and has the most awful cockney accent eddies ever heard, and he did middle school theatre.
‘geeze, just take me home dude.’ eddie shoves through the gap between the seats, landing heavy in the passenger. crossing his arms and trying to hide his smile behind his hair.
‘there he is. out of the shadows.’ steve tucks some of his curls behind his ear. eddie sees the soft smile out of his peripheral. tries to swallow the cotton in his mouth. steve turn back to the road ‘let’s rock ‘n roll’ he revvs the engine, wiggling his eyebrows, before checking his blind spot and pulling away into a cushy 30mph.
eddie looks out the window and hides his grin in his palm.

Not putting this on main but have some Dndads S1 actor au ideas/headcannons in these trying times! They all just headcannons so I would love to hear other interpretations or ideas that you might have!
Might draw some of these later if i feel like it
lark and sparrow irl are the same menaces as they are like they constantly confuse the cast by swappin places and pulling pranks
Willy is actually a super nice guy out of acting, and has to constntly check on cast members if theyre feeling alrght. Keeps buying food and feeding the cast memebers and the stagehands. Very good at acting scary that sometimes they cant tell if its real or not.
Daryl is not beating the bisexual allegations after the oakson kiss scene or the glenn daryl car argument. I need to animate that so badly actually.
Cern cgi shenanigans
They keep running out of fake blood
Ron is as equally weird as he is both irl and in acting. Just a weird little guy. Love him. He's literally just ron reincarnated holy shit. Like he keeps saying stuff that people think is supposed to be in relatance to the script but its actually just him being him.
Glenn has a huge fanclub and he can actually play the guitar. He puts on impromptu shows for fans during meet and greets. Bud loves the attention. Attention wjore
The kidadas are all good friends. They have lots of sleepovers and play games and stuff. Grant is actually really good at gaming in real life as well, which added to his resume. Goth terry. Goth terry. Socially awkward kid but talented actor. Nick can skateboard because I say so and teaches the others some cool tricks, which lark and sparrow instantly take to it.
"Yeah, you should just die or something."
"Sniffle (goes compeltely off script i dont remember what was supposed to be said)"
"Cut- Wait ron i didnt actually mean that-"
Some cool ass fight scenes like the barry oak confrontation behind the scenes with the props and rpatical effects. The twins have a field day with the blood effects.
The omega daddies are actually good friends outside of acting and they are gossipy old men. Cunty ahh. They like to hang out at cafes and gossip about people. They have quite the fashion sense lmao.
The tower of terry scene actually went through in one take, surprisingly. Ron kept going off script on accident and total awkwardness but it actually made the whole scene more complete.
Red carpet moment with the dads in cool looking suits and ron looking like well, ron. Im sorry ron is my favourite dad.
Henry is actually a vegan in real life, barry oak is not. Man just chomps on chicken wings in front of henry for fun. I hc that barry oak looks like belos toh dont at me.
The deez nuts joke went over so well that everyone constantly tries to deez nuts willy afterwards and he gets insanely paranoid about responding to people. When Willy hit Glenn back with the dragon deez nuts across the floor joke no one was as impressed like "its not the same"
Jodie and glenn arent siblings irl but they get on so well like one even out of acting due to their vastly different methodologies. Lots of fun sibling banter. I hc that jodie just looks like jimmy irl but more cop and buff looking.
The deck of many things episode with the reaper was probably really fun to film with all the effects and stuff.
The FREAKING PYRAMID. Of course they had to film that within the studio but they built a couple of steps for them to stand on. They actually got a water jet of apple juice in the studio. 2/4 of the dads got sick after filming that day.
Scam likely irl is a funny cool uncle archetype. His other roles involve wizardry and funkiness so this one was right up his alley.
I want a couple of shots of just the cast members breaking out in laughter after a particularly insane set of lines. they take SO many shots just to finish filming that scene. Bloopers my beloved you will always be famous.
Paeden bennets and Walter aren't acually related in real life but i hc that the kid playing Paeden is also an orphan and Walter irl adopts him in after filming and developing a bond with each other. Paeden being a giant zombie was probably fun to film like he would make jokes about how small everyone is even though its just cgi and dude is still tiny af irl.
I would like to think that the game at balls deep stadium was filmed at an actual nearby stadium that they rented out and they got to play an actual game of football after all of the shenanigans of filming.
Yeet bigly is actually disabled in real life, both of his lower legs are prostethics and made the attachment to skateboard pretty cool even though it took many, many tried and attempts to not fall flat on his face with some lessons from Nick on how to skateboard.
Glenn's trial arc of course took place in a real courthouse and they made a lot of ace attorney memes and bloopers but also ouch emotional damage. When Glenn read the script about the meth bay prison arc he was woah kinky
Erin o niel is a pretty cool and chill lady who does in fact love nature and would take walks to feel her role out. I hc that she was supposed to die at first during that library fight but she was so popular they overturned the script and look how that worked out for the better.

Fic Writing Review 2023 🌈
Thank you sm @itwoodbeprefect for the tag!!!
I hardly published anything this year so if u wanna skip to 'projects for 2024' that's gonna be the most interesting bit >.<
Words and Fics (on ao3) 📚
words posted: 714 💀 but many more words were written, just not posted lol fics posted: 1 first fic/last fic 😅: King of the Eyesores - Doctor Who (1963)
Ships and Fandoms ⚓
Doctor Who - no ships really but KotE is Mike Yates-centric.
Top 5 Fics by Kudos 🏆
It's KotE again lol which is at 6 kudos. Of all time, tho:
After the Hour(glass) - Night at the Museum (Jedtavius)
Less Than Ideal Circumstances - The Man from UNCLE (TV) (Napollya)
When They Sleep - The Man from UNCLE (TV)
Dismiss Your Fears - Back to the Future
After All, I'm Only Sleeping - Doctor Who (1963)
Top 5 Favorite Fics 💖
KotE......... I do actually rly enjoy KotE I think it has potential in terms of where it's going. But since I only posted one fic in 2023, I'll do my top 5 of fics I've ever posted. Apart from the first one this is in no particular order
tickertape - The A-Team (TV) it's my baby it's all I thought about for months of my life, it's like an iceberg (i.e. most of it is in my WIP doc, and only a tiny fraction is published so far), it got me thru a difficult time, it's an exploration of mental illness and complicated messy relationships expressed in epic format (i.e. it's probably gonna be novel length when it's done)
Bullet Number Six - Starsky & Hutch (TV) it received criticism for being obscure and hard to follow bc it switches pov briefly halfway thru but idc i love it anyway
I Gotta Right to Sing the Blues - The A-Team (TV) it was my first A-Team fic and I still think for a beginner it nailed some p realistic in-character dialogue and addressed an undertone I wished I'd seen addressed in the ep it's a coda to.
When They Sleep - The Man from UNCLE (TV) it's kind of riddled with certain mannerisms of my slightly older writing which I personally find a bit annoying and have worked to iron out for the sake of elegance over the years. but I still think it's a cool little exploration of all my sleep headcanons for the pair of them in one place
King of the Eyesores - Doctor Who (1963) see it made it to the list after all! I kinda like it more for its potential than for what it is right now butttttt who cares.
special mention to Unbereft (Starsky & Hutch) which I really really like but I wrote it in one frenzied sitting and only remembered after I'd posted it that it was very like someone else's fic I'd read several years previously. I don't think it's too much like to be taken down and I've since mentioned the writer of the other fic (it was dawnwind, hello!) in the notes. that's the only reason unbereft isn't in my top 5 because I'm otherwise really proud of how well it's written. Not to tootle on my own trumpet.
Fandom fic events
none RIP but maybe this year!!
Projects for 2024
Okay here we goooooooooooo
priority 1 is to finish the unfinished works that I've already half posted: King of the Eyesores, Every Line A Comedy, OUTATIME, The Windhover, tickertape, The Hanoi Bank Job and Other Misadventures, 38 Hours. Bolded are my top priorities.
other works that I'm writing but which haven't seen the light of day at all yet:
Dear Mike - an epistolary between Jo Grant and Mike Yates following her marriage to Cliff Jones.
The Lark/Behind That Locked Door (working titles) - a 30-chapter 2/Jamie fic about season 6B in which Jamie suffers permanent memory problems after the War Games. It explores grief, social ostracism, feeling abandoned, undirected anger, guilt, and acceptance that healing sometimes is a process that is never complete. I've been working on it since about 2016 lol but I'm lazy I just need to press on.
hell valley au - as yet untitled lol. In which the Hell Valley!Marty (who is never seen in BTTF2 as he is in Switzerland) and Hell Valley!Doc (who has been institutionalized) break out of their respective situations and go on the run together. But there's a problem - they had to leave Einstein behind, and when they get information that Einie is to be used for a dogfight, they make the risky decision to go back to Hill Valley to rescue him. However, going back to the place they just escaped by the skin of their teeth also brings them face to face with the last person they expect to meet.
a changed man (working title) - a Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) fic from Jeannie's pov. mostly it's about their picnic excursions but it's also about Jeannie wishing Marty wasn't such an elephant in the room
mfu/rahd xover (untitled) - the first chapter of this is almost ready to go tbh. it's what it says on the tin lol, Napoleon and Illya go to London and get help from a rather eccentric private detective who has uncanny powers of solving impossible cases but also they think is probably clinically insane
to see him happy - VERY weird rahd fic. it's smut but its also about grief. might never post it because several of my family members have access to my tumblr and therefore my ao3 lol they dont need to see that
the winter of '62 - a study of jeff and marty's life when they lived together in a grotty bedsit and couldnt afford to put the heating on
star wars (untitled) - set during ROTJ, han pov. han's lost a lot of time and now everyone is one step ahead of him which isn't a sensation he's used to
skyrissian - what it says on the tin lol
the older gen (untitled) - jeeves fic about bertie's aunts and uncles and parents as they were as they variously grew up, got married, had children, died (or didn't), fell prey to alcoholism or insanity or petty crime, went to war, prospered (or didn't)... This is pretty unlikely to be finished this year tbh as it's very detailed but I can dream
a couple of long form fics about starsky & hutch and mfu respectively (the s&h one is set post sweet revenge, the mfu one takes place at various moments throughout the show)
x-files series - canon compliant until paperclip and then gradually diverges into how i think the show should have gone lol. another biggie
and a handful of tintin fics that im protective of and might never post but we'll see - one where tintin and chang go on holiday in london after picaros, one where the gang encounters rajaijah one last time (featuring a letter from didi, chang making a very daring crossing at the songolese border, and tintin taking about ten years to chop up a clove of garlic), and one where tintin gets shitfaced at an embassy ball and accidentally starts an Incident. haddock looks on, appalled.
i knoooooooooooooooowww this is a lot but i'm not realistically hoping to finish it all this year but it's nice to have lots of things to play around with lol.
unfortunately i have the eternal problem of not ever knowing which of my mutuals write fic and which of those havent already been tagged but imma tag @theteaisaddictive and genuinely if u see this and u write fic ur tagged i want to knowwwwwwwwwwwww <333

Rating Disney films
I'm waiting on an event that will occur in my approximate future, so while I wait I thought I would kill time with a rating of some Disney movies. What a lark! But before we begin:
Item: The scale will be F, D, C, B, A. Normally I would consider C to be the base starting point, but since Disney is a heartless mega-conglomerate that would sell orphan souls if they thought there was a market for it, I'm sorry to say that every film is automatically docked a point, so we're starting at D.
Item: I'm only going to cover the ones I've seen, and only the ones from pretty recently. The last ten years, let's say. Otherwise we'll be here all day and I probably will have got shit to do.
Ok, let's go.
Frozen. Elsa and Anna and their hangs-on that no one really cares about. Good music. Idina Menzel? Holy shit I got it right on the first try. Go me! Idina is a great singer, so that bumps Frozen up a notch. Great animation, except for that one bit during Let It Go where Elsa's ponytail phases through her arm, but I guess I'll...let it go. Eh? Eh? Come on admit it, that was funny. A dumb subversion of true love, but then an interesting subversion of the subversion so I'll give it a point. But then there's...everything else. Preventable conflict, forgettable everyone that isn't Elsa and Anna, stupid character decisions, a twist villain who has literally no reason to exist and who is not connected to the central conflict in any way whatsoever. It's the works. Also, I'm told there's some debate over whether the side character Oaken is married to a man or woman. The art style makes it hard to tell. Normally I'd give it a point but since this is Disney, I'm going to file that under "Gay reference so that Disney gets bonus points but it was super minor so that Disney can easily edit it out for international releases in countries that hate the LGBT community". Which loses it a point instead.
Final score: F. Oh yeah. Coming out of the gate swinging. I wonder how much hate I'll get for that.
Big Hero 6. Hiro Hamada and the rest. No musical numbers, but it does have Baymax and jokes about puberty, which are...funny I guess. I guess. It does have a twist villain, but that's a gimme. He's a supervillain. Would Norman Osbourn be half the villain without being the father of Peter Parker's best friend? It loses a point because Hiro's older brother was too good to deserve being Uncle Bened. I wish my brother was as cool as Tadashi was. And that he was also Uncle Bened. I'll trade my brother for superpowers. See if I won't.
Final score: B. SO close.
Zootopia. The furry movie. I saw it. It didn't turn me into a furry any more than 90 years of Mickey Mouse did. Maybe I oughta dock it a point for that. Good story, entertaining leads, entertaining side characters. Catchy music. But it had a twist villain. Get some new material, guys.
Final score: B. Almost got it.
Moana. Good movie. Good characters. Good music. Who knew Dwayne Johnson could sing? No twist villain. Actually, there's a twist hero. Double points for that.
Final score: A. Huzzah! We finally got an A!
Coco: Ah, Coco. Good movie. Good music. Good characters. I will dock a point for preventable conflict, but righting former wrongs makes up for it. Very heartwarming. Double points for heartwarming. Also, another M. Rivera journeys to the Land of the Dead in search of his ancestors. And Imelda is voiced by the same actress that did Manny Rivera. I wonder if that was intentional.
Final score: A.
Incredibles 2. The first Incredibles missed the cutoff. Oops. It's a sequel so...ehhhhh. Another twist villain, but it's a supervillain so normally it wouldn't count, but the villain has no personal connection to Helen and only second-hand connection to Bob, so fuck Screenslaver. Overall, doesn't really stand out.
Final score: D. Ehhhhhhhhhh...
Live Action Aladdin. An acquaintance of mine she got super thirsty over Mena Massoud, so I'll give him double points. Will Smith did...ok I guess. I guess. I liked Jasmine's new song tho.
Final score. Ehhhhhhh...I wanna give it a good score, but I really can't give it better than a C. I'm sorry Mena and Naomi! Forgive meeeeeeeeeeee!
Live Action The Lion King. Yeah...no...
Final score: F. Not even Beyonce could save it. I think I may have committed a crime against humanity by saying that...
Frozen II. A sequel...ehhhhh...good story I guess. I guess. Good music, I will concede. New characters are forgettable and Elsa didn't get a girlfriend. I don't think it had a real conflict? Question mark? Just righting past wrongs wasn't it? I forget. Assuming there were no villains, because otherwise I'd have to dock a point for forgettable villains.
Final score: C. +2 -1. Hey at least it's not an F. I wonder how much hate I'll get for rating the sequel higher.
Onward. Troll brothers, one's a nerd, the other's a slacker. It's actually quite good. Don't remember the music, so it doesn't get any points. It had a "token acknowledgement of a gay character that can be easily edited out for international" so that's a minus.
Final score:
Luca. Another good movie. Very heartwarming. There is some debate over whether this movie counts as "Young boys discovering their sexuality but only in the vaguest possible terms so that it can be easily rewritten for international" or just "Young friends that is only homoerotic if you squint and maybe audiences are reading a little too much into it". And I mean, I could see it. I'm not that good at squinting and I can see it. I'll give you that it's possible. I don't necessarily think it's probable, but I'll take the point anyway because Disney's not dumb, just evil. They knew.
Final score: B.
Ron's Gone Wrong. Being honest, I was totally unaware that this was Disney. I saw the dvd at Wal-Mart and thought it looked cute. Which it is. Very heartwarming friendship. And the kids that the kid wants to be friends with turn out to be good kids and not little shits at all.
Final score: B.
Encanto. Another good one. I have to dock it a point for more preventable conflict, but otherwise, great characters, great music, great story, great ending, great family. Great Scott, have we got another A?
Final score: Yep, it's an A.
Lightyear. Really? This is the movie that Andy saw? But this Buzz acts nothing like that Buzz! Twist villain, token acknowledgement of a gay character that can be easily edited out for international. I mean, I liked it. I like Buzz and I like Alisha and I like Izzy and I like Sox, but is that enough?
Final score: B. -3 +4. I preferred the animated series.
Strange World. Didn't finish it. Stopped halfway and got sidetracked by something else and never got around to picking it back up, but it does have a gay secondary character in the main character's son and I seem to recall he gets a recurring subplot about how fit the guy he likes is.
Final score: Ah heck, let's give it an A just because the gay character wasn't of the "easily edited out for international" variety.
Elemental. Loved this movie. Very heartwarming. I say that a lot. It's Disney. What do you expect? Technically it does have a preventable conflict, but the preventableness is central to the story, so that's a gimme.
Final score: A.
Wish: Bending the rules, because I haven't seen it but I hope to some time soon. I'll be optimistic and wish upon a star that this movie gets all the points.
Final final score: A. Huzzah!
In closing if you don't agree with my ratings, or with the reasons I have given for the ratings, you are, of course, entitled to your own opinions, but I don't want to hear it so find someone else to whinge at.
Please and thank you. :)

So, Lark and Sparrow are ~13, right? And they're both "wild children", they're "disrupting to the class". And their dad doesn't do much about it, not really. He focuses on encouraging desirable behaviors rather than correcting bad behavior. So the twins live their childhood essentially out of check, and they start to develop this idea that they can kind of do whatever they want with no real consequences (kinda like their grandfather).
They get to the Forgotten Realms, and they get taken to Neverwinter, and they learn that people here think the Doodler, the school mascot that Sparrow made up, is a real, powerful creature. And they learn about the prophecy that a Lord of Chaos will bring the Doodler into world, and they figure out (or decide) that the prophecy's about them. They decide "'The Lord of Chaos', that's really cool! We should do that! Then we'd be really cool!"
But their dad stops them, and Sparrow kind of changes his mind. But they don't give up on wanting to be as cool as possible. A lot of stuff happens until eventually, they bring about the end of the world. For quite possibly the first time in their lives, their actions have very real, very bad consequences. The worst thing that has ever happened to them or anyone they have ever known, was their fault.
They don't know how to handle this, they've never had to before. They get angry, blaming themselves and each other. They feel guilty and stupid. It strains their relationships, not only with their family and friends, but with each other.
I imagine they tried to take some sort of comfort from the knowledge that them releasing the end of the world was prophesied. It was inevitable, fated, and if it was fated, it can't be entirely their fault. They weren't children making a dumb decision, they were tools of fate, acting out a prophecy. It was their purpose.
And then they hear about another prophecy. One about a Chosen One who will stop the Doodler and undo all of the damage they caused. And they figure out (or decide) that it's going to be one of their first kid.
Rebecca gets pregnant, and Hero arrives, named for the role she's destined to fulfill. The twins are desperate for something, anything, just one chance to fix their mistake, and they've pinned all their hopes on Hero. So they train her, and train her, and train her, pushing her to do better, be better, be perfect. They drill the story of what they did wrong into her head and remind her over and over that it's her responsibility to fix it. They mold her into the tool they think fate wants her to be.
Hero is ~17, and she's a person, not a tool. She is scared, and lonely, and she is bending under the crushing weight of the pressure her father and uncle (and who knows which is which) are putting on her shoulders. And they don't notice, or they don't care. She has no one to talk to, no one who could possibly understand and sympathize with her situation. So she decides that she's done. She's sick of the training they've put her through and the expectations they put on her. She gets a job delivering pizza, and an internship at the JPL in another world, probably to fill up her schedule so her father and uncle don't have any opportunity to take her away for more training. I personally think she's also saving up money to try and get away from her family.
This is the real Oak family curse, it seems, for the fathers to drive their kids away. Barry expected Henry to be perfect and ignored him when he was anything less. Henry's complete lack of discipline caused tension between him and his sons, even post-Doodler, when he wouldn't punish them for something they felt they should be eternally punished for. Sparrow had one completely honest conversation with Normal, and it resulted in Normal completely rethinking his entire identity. And now we learn that Lark and Sparrow have been traumatizing Hero all along. For a family that has based its identity around "working with all sides of an issue", the Oak-Swallows-Garcias have a lot of trouble listening to and accepting their own kids.

Doodler King Au Snippets
The change was gradual. It started when he stabbed his father. The rage built up and he released it. The Doodler.
The boy would often get strong emotions that didn’t belong to him after that incident. Never anything malicious.
The first message that made sense was transmitted in the church. ‘Sit on the throne’ it beckoned. So he did.
After the throne, the Doodler spoke more often. And the boy found himself agreeing with its points.
So Lark helped what he had unleashed.
The others didn’t know. He could almost see the pity in his fathers eyes.
The change became physical after more time had passed. The sharp teeth came first (something Nick was both very concerned by and interested in).
But it wasn’t clear how far his transformation had gone until he was gone as well.
Tumblr media
“Mom, who’re my dads again?”
“Really, we’re doing this now? You have to go or you’ll be late.”
“It’s just that I took one of those DNA tests and it said my DNA was partially non-human! At first I thought I fucked it up, but I did it multiple times to check and nothing changed!”
“… I’m pretty sure your fathers were just normal guys, Taylor.”
Tumblr media
Whenever Taylor had imagined learning more about his fathers, he imagined a cool battle with swords and samurai and revenge. Not… this.
The building was strange. The name, DADDIES, didn’t really sound like a cool secret organization either. And it was WAY too easy to break into. But when Taylor stepped through the shattered glass he had broken with his ninja rocks, he felt a pull towards a certain desk.
The desk was dusty, cobwebs covering everything on it. A picture frame faced downwards, as if someone had turned it over. Blowing the dust off of the frame, he picked it up. The back of the cedar frame had something written on it, but water damage meant Taylor was unable to read it. Huffing in frustration, he turned the picture over and gasped.
It was a picture of him and his dads, taken when the boy was around 2. They were smiling and laughing, the toddler in the black haired man’s arms grinning mischievously as the man with a scar across his nose tried and failed to retrieve a pendant from the boy.
Taylor looked down at his own pendant, the one his papa had left to him before the man disappeared, followed soon after by his other father.
The frame fell out of his hands and clattered on the floor of DADDIES HQ.
Tumblr media
Normal knew he had an uncle, in theory. There used to be a few photos of his father as a child with his arm slung around an identical boy’s shoulders. Normal asked about the other boy once. The photos were moved to the basement.
But Normal recognized the face of the man in the photo Taylor dropped. It was his fathers face too, after all.
Normal turned to the shorter teen, hoping to give a word of encouragement.
Instead, he blurted out, “YOU’RE MY COUSIN?!?!”

Sparklers and Death Dice
Lark pulls a sparkler out of the box, twirls it around a few times, then jabs it into Nick’s forearm. Sparks burst to life on the tip, sizzling and cracking as Nick yelps and smacks Lark’s hand away.
“Dude!” Nick gives Lark a knock-it-off look and pulls his arm out of the other man’s reach.
Lark grins wide and mischievous.
“You’re gonna give me away,” Nick says. “To who?” Lark asks, waving his hand to motion around the Oak’s backyard. “The assembled toddlers?” Across the space there are stumbling kids, and the parents trying to keep them from falling off plastic playsets or tripping on hoses and garden plots.
“There are grownups here too, man,” Nick says.
“Oh.” Lark looks around at the small group of parents that aren’t in on the whole Nick-is-a-demon thing. It’s a small group, but it is a group none-the-less. “right.” His sparkler sizzles happily.
“Where did you find all of these people anyway?” Nick asks.
“I don’t know,” Lark says, “but Sparrow and Rebecca have friends, apparently.”
There’s a lull in the conversation long enough for one of the many children running around to pull to a stop in front of them.
“That’s so cool Uncle Lark!” Hero grins wide and stares at the fizzing toy.
“Merry christmas.” Lark hands the firework down to the kid and Hero smiles wildly and not unlike  a young Sparrow. “Don’t light yourself on fire.” Lark calls after her, pretending to be a responsible adult. He watches her run in the dimming evening light. He never spends too much time thinking about Hero’s childhood, if he did then teaching her how to fight would only hurt worse, so he grabs the box of sparklers and shakes out another stick.
“Don’t even think about it.” Nick holds up his hands and steps out of the other man’s range. Lark whines pathetically, but puts the sparkler back.
“Fine.” He tucks the box safely into his back pocket and leans against the fence. Nick resets himself at Lark’s side.
“Nice to see you out of kevlar for a change,” Nick says. It’s not an understatement, the five of them have been working almost nonstop for three months. In all that time Nick hasn’t seen Lark as anything but a murderer hyped up on monster energy drinks, head-to-toe in gear, sporting at least three weapons.
“Still strapped,” Lark says. “Don’t tell Sparrow.” “He is too.” Nick shrugs. “Told me not to tell you.”
Lark laughs, short and deep, and both men glance warily up at the sky. It hasn’t been long since they switched everything, since they made the world move under their feet. It still makes Lark a little nauseous.
“Did you hear what Terry did?” Lark asks. He doesn’t have anything to fidget with since he promised Sparrow he’d leave his butterfly knife at home and the sparklers are in his pocket so he picks at the wood on the tall privacy fence around his backyard.
“I’m not sure I want to know.”
“It’s not bad,” Lark says, “Just weird.” Nick raises an eyebrow, curious.
“He rolled the dice,” Lark says.
“The Die another Day Dice!?” Nick looks impressed, shocked, scared. None of the rest of them, even Lark, has tried that. Life’s too bleak to know when he’s going to die.
“A couple days ago,” Lark says. He pulls a satisfying splinter off the wall, turns it around in his hand and presses little lines into it with his fingernail.
“That explains why he’s been staring at the doodler sunset for twenty minutes now,” Nick mumbles.
Lark looks up and follows Nick’s eyes to Terry standing in the middle of miniature baby chaos knot, holding kombucha and not moving. The porch lights flick on behind him and Lark hears Nick chuckle.
“What?” Lark asks.
“Nothing, just.--Mortals,” Nick says.
“You’re mortal,” Lark reminds sourly. A little less mortal than the rest of them, but mortal. At least they’re pretty sure Nick is somewhat mortal. A little bit. On his mother’s side. “But not like you,” Nick says.
Lark sighs,
“I know.” There’s a long moment where Lark watches Terry, then breaks his tiny piece of wood in half, then in half again. Then he says, “Will you catch us on the other side?”
Nick makes that back-of-the-mouth thoughtful noise that he picked up from his kinda dad, Glenn, then says,
“Of course- but how are you so sure you’re going to hell? Lark gives him an unamused stare.
“Terry at least has a chance,” Nick says. Lark looks back at Terry, turns that possibility over and over in his head. He doesn't know what makes a good person, at least not anymore, but Terry surely qualifies. Only problem is,
“Terry made the same decision we did. Can’t take that back.”
Nick doesn’t have any way to argue. He leans against the fence and stares. “So will you catch us on the other side, at least to say hello?” Lark asks again. Snaps the last bit of splinter that he can before dropping the wooden flakes to the ground. “I’ll catch you,” Nick says. Then noticing Lark surreptitiously sneaking the sparklers out of his pocket again says, “You can light one more sparkler…I guess”

For the character ask game: Hero?
How I feel about this character
So regularpilled about her. i have nothing wrong with me. she has a whole career planned out despite the very real possibility that she would just die. i am very proud of her. a little bit of projection as well, for my health.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
honestly? i do also lean aro Hero but i do like the idea of Hero/Scary. it's kinda fun
My non-romantic OTP with this character
i think Glenn should be her insane grandpa. it would be fun. either that or Nicky being her cool uncle. it would put Glenn in an awkward social position with my Glenn&Lark Cool New Dad concept but i can make it work.
My unpopular opinion on this character
can't have an unpopular opinion if nobody else has opinions on her give that girl more physical disabilities NOW!! may elaborate on another post but just know i'm correct
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
let her take a year off to go do whatever dumb bullshit she so chooses. she was meant to be the saviour of like two different realms she needs to take some time doing jack shit. keep her away from NASA for a little while. funded by DADDIES obviously. also if we had just seen more of her but oh well
edit: fixed!

dndads season 2 episode 1 CONSUMED
my thoughts:
-the entire cast is very fun im very excited to be here!! -normal vomits like. a lot. is he okay?? hes gonna have mad reflux surely. it fuckin sucks i feel for him -if scary isnt canonically trans shes trans now. congrats queen -taylor swift is the biggest fucking incel in the making this man severely needs a father figure. please universe help curb him from the path of wearing a fedora and making even More women uncomfortable -i know lark is initially like introduced as normals uncle but like. he rebecca isnt dating/married to both lark + sparrow im going to eat my hat. sometimes u just wanna fuck twins and i respect that -i really love what anthony has done w/ the magic items and having a break roll! hopefully theyll get more cool items bc theyll be breaking all the time, but i think it makes them More valuable in a way as well. using them less for shits and giggles and more for useful things

QUOTATIONS - PHILIP LARKIN’S ‘THE WHITSUN WEDDINGS‘ (FIRST PUBLISHED 1964)
‘The Whitsun Weddings’:
‘That Whitsun, I was late getting away:     Not till about One-twenty on the sunlit Saturday Did my three-quarters-empty train pull out, All windows down, all cushions hot, all sense   Of being in a hurry gone. We ran Behind the backs of houses, crossed a street Of blinding windscreens, smelt the fish-dock; thence   The river’s level drifting breadth began, Where sky and Lincolnshire and water meet. All afternoon, through the tall heat that slept       For miles inland, A slow and stopping curve southwards we kept.   Wide farms went by, short-shadowed cattle, and   Canals with floatings of industrial froth;   A hothouse flashed uniquely: hedges dipped   And rose: and now and then a smell of grass   Displaced the reek of buttoned carriage-cloth   Until the next town, new and nondescript,   Approached with acres of dismantled cars. At first, I didn’t notice what a noise     The weddings made Each station that we stopped at: sun destroys   The interest of what’s happening in the shade, And down the long cool platforms whoops and skirls   I took for porters larking with the mails,   And went on reading. Once we started, though,   We passed them, grinning and pomaded, girls   In parodies of fashion, heels and veils,   All posed irresolutely, watching us go, As if out on the end of an event     Waving goodbye To something that survived it. Struck, I leant   More promptly out next time, more curiously,   And saw it all again in different terms:   The fathers with broad belts under their suits   And seamy foreheads; mothers loud and fat;   An uncle shouting smut; and then the perms,   The nylon gloves and jewellery-substitutes,   The lemons, mauves, and olive-ochres that Marked off the girls unreally from the rest.       Yes, from cafés And banquet-halls up yards, and bunting-dressed   Coach-party annexes, the wedding-days   Were coming to an end. All down the line Fresh couples climbed aboard: the rest stood round; The last confetti and advice were thrown, And, as we moved, each face seemed to define   Just what it saw departing: children frowned   At something dull; fathers had never known Success so huge and wholly farcical;     The women shared The secret like a happy funeral; While girls, gripping their handbags tighter, stared   At a religious wounding. Free at last, And loaded with the sum of all they saw, We hurried towards London, shuffling gouts of steam.   Now fields were building-plots, and poplars cast   Long shadows over major roads, and for Some fifty minutes, that in time would seem Just long enough to settle hats and say     I nearly died, A dozen marriages got under way. They watched the landscape, sitting side by side —An Odeon went past, a cooling tower,   And someone running up to bowl—and none   Thought of the others they would never meet   Or how their lives would all contain this hour.   I thought of London spread out in the sun,   Its postal districts packed like squares of wheat: There we were aimed. And as we raced across       Bright knots of rail Past standing Pullmans, walls of blackened moss   Came close, and it was nearly done, this frail   Travelling coincidence; and what it held   Stood ready to be loosed with all the power   That being changed can give. We slowed again, And as the tightened brakes took hold, there swelled A sense of falling, like an arrow-shower   Sent out of sight, somewhere becoming rain.’ (Larkin in Poetry Foundation, 2023).

#lark swapping places with spiderman sparrow but not having powers is gonna rot my brain#thats really good. Thats Really Good#and glenn being the uncle ben... my fuckin feelingsss RAH#this is so so so good abe i love it (tags from @officialgleamstar) Travis, I'm glad you love the concepts, especially for au Lark and Glenn!! You bringing up Lark's part in this, gave me another idea :3c
The first time Lark swaps places with Sparrow, Sparrow is completely unaware. See Sparrow's been working way too hard fighting crime and dealing with school etc and is finally getting some sleep after Lark convinces them. Lark's playing some games while relaxing on their bed while Sparrow is asleep. The bedroom window is open and there's a scream. Lark is almost about to ignore it, but Sparrow says a sleepy "what was that?" while softly patting one of their brother's hands.
He looks at the window and back at his twin and softly pats their hair with a gentle smile. Lark's relieved that Sparrow is looking a little less drained (he was really worried). "Nothing, go back to dreamland, brother" (or sister/sibling, Lark changes that up every few days/weeks) Sparrow goes back to sleep with a smile and Lark here's another scream. I think Sparrow never kept the identity a secret from Lark, so its easy to get to the outfit and suit up. Also Lark likes wolves too so the whole wolf suit is pretty cool/exciting, I think he and Top Hat (the radioactive spider) don't get along though. ("You're lucky Sparrow loves you or I would toss you out the window right now >:[ ") Anyways, he does save the day but like he started on instant hard mode given no powers. "Ugh I'll go save them I guess! ...How do I get over there though? Whatever, I'll figure it out." Determination and creativity get him through it all though and when he gets back in to their room, Sparrow's awake and waiting for him. Sparrows swivels one of their gaming chairs around in the dark haha as Lark crawls through the window lol. Sparrow tackles him into hug though after seeing how banged up he looks. Lark is noticeably happy though--partly because he's always had a soft spot for their hugs but mainly because this was the most thrilling night of his life so far!!
Sparrow Spiderman AU
Radioactive wolf spider bites teen Sparrow who was definitely playing with said spider beforehand. Spiders and wolves are just so friend-shaped after all, so of course a wolf spider would be as well! Feel like Sparrow named the spider Top Hat (not sure why other than silliness) and the spider sticks around like Nick jr on Glenn's shoulder
Powers listed below:
Barely noticeable fangs normally but all teeth turn razor sharp temporarily for combat etc cold resistance/minor ice and plant magic? cannot make webs but can high jump half mask, floral and wolf theme (yes their mask has wolf ears...and probably fluffy leg warmers/arm warmers) Who is the person Sparrow couldn't save? I was thinking about Lark but that lead to a villain route. Maybe that is a villain the twins face off against at some point--would be an older Sparrow. But for the main au, maybe Glenn? Close-Freeman and Oak Garcia families are really close here! Glenn's like a fun and mischievous uncle to the twins. Helping teach them how to drive recently too. Lark, Sparrow, Nick, Grant, and Terry are still friends. Nick's been a friend to the twins since childhood, they met Grant in middle school, while Terry is a new transfer student. All of the teens are in the school's adventurer's guild. Its a dnd club that Henry founded when he was in school. Sparrow took over the mantle and brought the club back into existence. Lark brought the 'literally sneaking out and adventuring like when we were kids but more intense' part into things. They lead the club together but Lark doesn't want to be held responsible for dealing with faculty etc so he's a normal club member on paper. I think it could be fun if Lark swaps places with Sparrow sometimes as the spiderhero, did he get bitten too? Possibly and/or maybe the two have a bunch of gadgets for him to use. Added shenanigans...Lark and Sparrow can communicate telepathically sometimes (after both were bitten). At some point Lark does make his own costume, but the two still have fun switching around as usual. Both Nick and Glenn still dislike spider here and while Sparrow was plenty mischievous regarding that info as a kid (and Nick also brought up snakes in revenge), they are pretty...worried about either of them finding out about Sparrow being part spider now.
