One thing that really bugs me about certain fandoms now (specifically the Spiderverse fandom at the moment) is that it's downright impossible to like certain characters around *those* fans.
Like, I can't say ONE good thing about Miguel's characterization without hearing about how Miguel fans are horny weirdos who condone abuse.
Sure, a lot of Miguel fans are horny as all hell, but liking a character =/= thinking they are perfect and can do no wrong. Hell, even *understanding* a character's motives doesn't even mean we're condoning it.
Yeah, Miguel was 100% wrong for chokeslamming Miles into a train. But, at the same time, I could understand getting pissed and freaking out about one (1) kid who's about to cause the multiversal apocalypse via messed up trolley problem. I can understand feeling like no one else is taking the situation seriously, and that you have to do everything yourself because you can't even rely on more than 4 people in your strike force of probably millions. I, too, would get mad at a hardheaded teenager who seems ready to make the same mistake I made that cost me my family.
I can, at the same time, understand being young and scared, trying to prevent a family member's death, not knowing who to trust, and running for my life because there's not a single person in the multiverse who seems willing to honestly help.
That's the beauty of not being trapped in the narrative: you can simultaneously see and appreciate *every* character's perspective, because all those perspectives influence the characters' actions and the story as a whole. I don't *have* to condone a character's actions to like them or their role in the story.
And it would DEFINITELY make the fandom space less insufferable to contribute to if half the fans weren't so obsessed with being perfectly moral angels who only support cinnamon rolls who can do no wrong. But that just me, I guess.

I really wish society did not care so much what people smell like. Most of us in progressive circles can agree that giving people shit for what they look like is mean, but smelling like a human is still treated like this thing we should be ashamed of.
Humans have a smell. Humans sweat for a reason, because our bodies are trying to keep us alive by maintaining a consistent internal temperature. Some people just sweat more than others. Some people are less tolerant of heat. Some people do not have the time and/or energy to make 'not smelling like a person' their top priority. Be compassionate about it.

Where the hell is that Matchmaker, I'm ready to not have this grody old man caricature anymore. Do they really want me to run two tamagotchi connections at once just to not be stuck with Ojitchi?
EDIT: As it turns out, it stops coming after your Tama becomes a senior... that's kinda messed up. This fucking toy really punishes you for wanting to keep your pets around for a little while? Man I'm sorry, but the tamagotchi connections are kinda ass.

Also kids can wave, or show a sign that says trick or treat, or even smile and hold their treat holder out.
Greetings are a mandatory part of communication.
Also when you're in charge of kids, their wellbeing is priority. That includes making sure they eat as healthy as possible (for some kids that means nothing but chicken nuggets. I know that), get enough sleep, bathe often enough and appropriately, change into clean clothes regularly, go to the doctor and dentist, and take any medication prescibed for the prescribed length of time.
Caring for a child includes a lot more, like different interactions and stimulation and stuff, but these are the basics.
I hated wearing water shoes at lakes, but my parents demanded it of me or I didn't get to go in. Because it was a fishing lake and there were a ton of fish hooks on the lakebed.
I hated wearing lifejackets, but I wore one on a boat until I was 16 (and even then I usually chose to wear one).
Children need to be cared for, and they often don't understand what that means for themselves. Which is why other people care for them, and why neglect is a very real type of abuse.
Not caring for your child because you don't want to abuse them is itself abuse.
low key cannot believe there is discourse like "how dare you expect children to say 'trick or treat' when you open the door on halloween, they should be allowed to stay silent, they don't owe you anything"
ok uhm yeah they don't have to do anything at all but don't you think it's at least mildly weird. to open the door for a stranger. and they just stare at you. in silence. like if they don't wanna say the halloween line on halloween ok whatever but they can say "hey what's up"?
this cannot be a boomer take please tell me I'm not a boomer

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is one of those movies where you could throw a theory out and nothing is wrong.
Which is why it sucks as a linear story plot.
And I love this franchise to death, loved the sequel too. But it does have its errors with plot holes about civil servants (especially BJ himself), a contract being broken by the Handbook despite both parties agreeing (+ that didn't involve Afterlife authority intervention to begin with), and Richard not being able to see Lydia was never?? Explained?? Delores wanting immortality despite already being dead, Lydia's mom still being alive, ugh, etcetera etcetera. The list goes on. This sequel leaves us with more questions than answers. And that's the point - we're supposed to assume how to fill in those gaps, which doesn't work well in this case without proper seeds to find it.
This movie ends us off with a "What the fuck was that ending?" because seriously, what the fuck was that ending? If not putting their foot in the door for a third movie setup, they want us to talk about it and theorize it from the ground up.
I personally think the dream started when BJ said "I love a good dream sequence" and Delores coming in, and Lydia backing out of the deal was his worst nightmare. As far as I'm concerned, they're happily married and sleep in the same bed together. That's my take on it. Nothing more. The Babyjuice at the end is just a fun gag and reference to Carrie (2013).
But at face value, this movie is nothing more than a love story between Lydia and Beetlejuice. Like that's it. It's just Beetlejuice trying his hardest to win over Lydia and he almost gets her. I'd argue that's the only plot point where the movie takes itself seriously, haha
The only thing that will disprove any of these theories or clear up some or plot holes is a BJ3, which I highly doubt is gonna happen. And this sequel ends off on a Beetlebabes-ish note either way, I'd take that as a win

If you want my Honest Opinion, while I agree with the sentiment you should get out of your comfort zone and interact and befriend people outside of your friend circle because That’s How Communities Work, if you find yourself getting earnestly distressed over the prospect of people not interacting with your content, that’s a sign you should probably take a step back for your sake. Being in the selfship community shouldn’t be a chore to you, and it especially shouldn’t be actively making your mental and/or emotional state worse

With the description of Davrin coming out, I'm fearing that this will be an excuse for a certain subset of DA fans to trash him. I haven't even met him and I'm fiercely protective of him.
