Are there any particular goals you’re setting this year?

To not get kidney stones again. I had a 5mm stone lodged in my urethra about 4 months ago. They lasered it to dust and put a stent in me for a week. The pain was beyond anything I thought possible. So, basically, I guess my goal is to drink more water.

But a lot of his (Julian) behavior and bravado is an act in itself designed to avoid facing the truth. It’s the same with everyone in this show, it’s the family refusing to grieve at any cost. And now that I’m starting to uncover that facade, particularly in this 3rd season, there’s a much more vulnerable person inside than I had originally realized and someone I can relate to a lot more. X

the soft music in the echos around the wooden walls of the cafe, gentle and quiet with the lack of customers coming in. the brave wool of your cardigan embraces you from the chill temperature of the shop, your sleeves protecting you from the scathing heat of your coffee cup as you take a gentle sip,

joseph sits in front of you, a sweater of the same color — aegean wool that juxtaposes his favorite chain hanging from his neck. his slender fingers flip the thin pages of his designated book, rings glimmering ever so often when it hits the ray of light from the window beside you.

his head lifts when you take a hushed sip, a benign close-lipped smile on his face at the sight of your woolen sleeves slipping past your thumb as to not hurt yourself; traces the round of your glasses that takes up half your face and falls every minute down the bridge of your nose, and admires the way the lone strands of your ophidian curls graze your cheekbones.

to gather your attention, he lifts his foot off the ground and nudges your shin beneath the dark ligneous table. joseph beams at you benevolently, setting his book down in synchronization to your cup hitting the table.

"hi," he greets you like you weren't sitting in front of him for the past hour. the mop of hazel curls attract you first, watching every curvature that pokes on the skin of his forehead before you look directly onto his awaiting eyes — broad with deep depths knowledge and partiality to moments like these with you. "you enjoying your book love?"

"yeah," you place your elbows on the table, placing your head in your palm and squish your cheeks into your hands, smiling at him that he thinks is stupidly cute with your dimples deep with tranquility in the sequestered cafe.

joseph rests his forearms on the table, hands on top on each other with his chin resting on his hand, so he's looking up at you with a shy, cheeky smile. the sun-ray illuminates his face a bit brighter, rendering his eyes a soft doe brown that was too lovely.

" 'y look so pretty, darling," he compliments, removing a hand beneath him to tuck the lone strand of hair behind your ear, pinching your cheek slightly. "we should go here more often."

"it is lovely, isn't it?" joseph nods, and you take the hand from your face to kiss his gentle palm, rubbing your thumb in the creases inside. he admires closely every smiling wrinkle, every tiny pore, every glimmer in your eye and every exquisite aspect of you, and he wonders if he could fall in love more.

he sits up, taking the cardigan hanging on the back of the chair, still not letting go of your hand. "wanna take a walk, lovie? we can take your cup to go?"

and who were you to deny such intimate and peaceful moment with him in this chaotic world?
