1. Name: Matteo Luca Brown. His dad says it’s after a nurse and himself. His mum says it was supposed to be Mattheo but his dad was too nervous and excited while writing the name that he forgot the ’h’ in the birth certificate. Likes the nickname ’Theo’ but not so much when people he doesn’t know use it (such as random fans, media outlest etc.)

2. Birthday: 24th December 1998 (26-27 yrs). So he has had ’Christmas and birthday are always combined’ sort of syndrome his whole life. Gets the ”so youre jesus then” joke on average 9 out of 10 times someone finds out his birthday. Always dies a bit more inside.

3. Family: Luca Brown (dad), Aemilia Brown (mum) and little menace Maisie (little sister, 6 yrs). Loves them all. Would throw hands, especially for Maisie.

4. Background & F1: Sort of stumbled into F1 I think. Like, never really put all eggs into that basket because he was sure something was going to get cocked up and always went with the mentality ’it’s never gonna last so whatever.’ Also did a remote degree in international relations because of this, since his parents are entrepreneuers with a security company. (Dont ask me how that’s realistic it just is for this :) )

Driver for Williams. Chose his racing number 9 because it was the first time that came to mind. Refuses to elaborate any more. Really took it because Maisie's birthay is 09.09. Joined f1 when he was around 19. Very quickly climbed up the ranks with his aggressive and "slippery" driving style. (Some love it, some call it second coming of MadMax.)

5. Personality: I should know but I dont. But I’d say more on the logical side, thinks with the head and not heart. Very loyal to his closest ones (like will actually fight if have to. Has had to, created a small tabloid scandal in his F3 days) but also will drop you the second you misuse his trust. Like, wont ever be the same again. Pretty witty, and has the humor of subtle bullying (but the good kind y’know) and heavy sarcasm. (It’s a second nature at this point, he cant turn it off he has tried).

6. Life outside of F1 I guess?

-> 6.1. Likes to stay lowkey, avoids media responsibilities like Kimi. Like, if someone does manage to get him to do an advertisement it probably included threatening, bribery and small amounts of voodoo skills. (Unless it was something he actually advocates for)

-> 6.2. bit of a nerd about his interests. Like cars, music and animal spotting. Will do a Tiktok explaining aerodynamics for half an hour but will try to hide away into a cockpit or the simulator if it’s a game of would you rather.

-> 6.3 Tried Golfing once with Lando. Didnt try again.

-> 6.4 Speaks english but mostly irish gaelic with his family. Aemilia especially was very firm on passing the knowledge down to her kids. Can curse in dutch (thank you Max) and speaks german pretty well. Understands spanish and italian to a certain level (”uhm… London?”)

-> 6.5 He doesnt actually have a lot of relationship experience. Maybe had one of those weird hanging out sort of things with a girl in high school but nothing more. He had just never really put effort into it. Has been content with his mates from childhood.

-> 6.5.1 in continution: little emotionally constipated. Not by choice but, like, untrusting if someone actually likes him and not the money and stuff. Also see 5.

-> 6.6 Bi. Or pan, he doesnt really care. Something little gay anyway.

-> 6.7 plays electric guitar. Has some covers out on Spotify but mostly does it for shits and giggles. Also has a varying music taste but mainly rap, hip hop and old school rock.

-> 6.8 Loves tattoos, loves getting them, hates that it’s difficult during the season. He has one mermaid on his arm that Maisie drew, his ma’s favorite flowers, his dad’s favorite animal and the word *live* in his grandpa’s handwriting. (and bunch of other stuff he had gotten over the year)

-> 6.9 Doesn’t have a favourite track but L-O-A-T-H-E-S Las Vegas. Does not like it. Too much noice in one city, too many lights and too many people. Usually walks around in headphones to tune it out and that’s why he never hears anyone calling for him.

7. Some angsty things?

-> 7.1 Biggest tragedy in life was his grandpa passing away (dad’s dad) because they were always very tightly knit. Wears a necklace he got from him when he turned 15 everyday. Always has the initials W.B. (William Brown) somewhere on his race attire (helmet, gloves, car livery) for every race. Goes to his grave everytime he visits Ireland.

-> 7.2 Doesn’t like clubs. Pubs are fine but in nightclubs people are too rowdy and music is too loud and there’s no space. During his early days in f1, his drink ended up being drugged and it caused him to have a mild panic and anxiety about even going out for a while. Doesn’t talk about it.

-> 7.3 Has no patience for specualtion and shit talk and it has ended up in multiple fines. Even if he did have a disagreement with a fellow driver, it would be between him, them and the data. A reporter asking about it, or trying to get a narrative scoop immeadiately makes him either talk back snappy or be petty and silent.

-> 7.4. Smoking vice. Not a chainsmoker like he'd go through pack a day but it's a crutch he leans to whenever he's stressed.

Bucky liked to think so much shit had happened between the 40s and today that nothing should surprise him anymore.

Except reality-tv. (It was your fault he got hooked on)

He had been part of World War Two, got taken POW, rescued, fell off of a train and turned into a POW-slash-superassassin for 70 years. Fought his childhood best friend, spent years in hiding and on the run from the US government. Then half of the universe was snapped away by Thanos, brought back five years later.

People died, people left. Everything had been through the wringer like that t-shirt you refuse to throw out even though it resembles more of a rag than a piece of clothing.

So, yeah. Life right now shouldn’t be so weird.

Yet it also… was. He supposed it was the domecity. He went to work, tolerated Nikolai, actually somewhat enjoyed Ava’s and Yelena’s company and Bob… was just kind of there. Walker was just… no.

Then he’d come back from work, get flowers before going up to the right apartment and probably finding you either cooking, cleaning or doing whatever hobby you were currently hyperfixating on. Or all of them at the same time. Then you’d go on a tangeon on how ’Mark from HR’ is cheating on his wife with ’Taylor in management’ and you two would sip coffee and/or tea and have a proper gossip session over something so mundane

It was weird. But he liked to think it was good-weird for once.

The apartment smelt like cinnamon and something sweet and sticky. It was always like a hug coming over. Bucky didn’t want to push into your space but damn if he didn’t love coming over. To see you and your plants that switched out every few weeks because ”i cant keep them alive i swear flora hates me”.

You were humming.

Bucky had someone humming when he got home. What were the damn odds?

”Cinnamon rolls?”

”They’re not ready”, you chuckled and swatted his hand that looped around from the back. Bucky set the two coffee to-go cups down and pushed the flowers in front of your face.

He was down bad but he’d take it over that grin you always gave him at the sight. ”Pretty flowers for a pretty girl.”

”How long did you rehearse that?” You took the boquet and moved over to cut the ends for the vase.

Bad move. Cinnamon rolls = unprotected.

”I don’t have to rehearse doll.”

”Mmmhmm.”

”Five minutes”, He plucked out a piece with an almost boy-ish grin, chewed on it very proud. ”I’m a quick learner, what can I say.”

You just shook your head with a chuckle. The white and blue-ish flowers sat pretty in the glass vase as you set it beside the window counter. Light shone through the ornament.

A sticky cinnamon roll piece appeared in front of you. ”Youre getting your arm dirty again.”

”’s gotten dirtier before.”

Small elbow to his abdomen for that. Although you couldn’t help the small amused smile and you took the piece.

Damn, you outdid yourself.

”Mark got busted.”

”Mhm, really?”

”We think so”, you leaned back a bit before turning around with an uptilt to your lips. ”No ring and Hailey-”

”H. She lives in the same neighborhood. Swore she saw the wife pack up their sudan and drive off.”

”Tsk. Damn… good thing we dont have a sudan.”

You snickered at that and looked up at him. He felt like the luckiest man.

”We don’t even have a car”, your eyebrow lifted off a bit. His hands rubbed up and down your sides, and you had to stifle the giggles. Damn you and your ticklishness.

”Could get one.”

”We live in New York. In the capital of ’collateral damage’.”

Bucky made a faint face, ”true.”

You chuckled again as you leaned back against the counter. This was nice. Especially after the shittiest five years of your life you didnt even feel entitled to feel shit about. Since it happened to 50% of the whole universe too. (Your therapist would hate hearing that)

He reminded you every day you weren’t alone anymore. Undergrounds weren’t half a ghost town, shops werent just broken windows and people werent just hollow things.

Now it was flowers every other day, traffic that slowed you down everytime you tried to get to work and a very lovely (and stupidly handsome) man holding you firm.

”Got something for you”, you mused as you dugged into the backpocket of your jeans. Bucky felt the warm metal on his flesh hand, eyebrows raising a bit.

”Oh dont be surprised, you steal my cinnamon rolls and do your laundry here anyway.”

You curled his hand over the key. You had gotten a keychain to it, laminated veteran discount coupon. He huffed a bit. Very smart.

”Thank you.”

It was more than a thank you but you knew that. Thank you for opening up your home. And making cinnamon buns and kissing good morning and good night. And washing my arm in your washing machine.

You patted his chest a bit with a very self-proud smile. ”Gotta go my part for the society.” Side stepping him back to the now slightly nibbled cinnamon buns, you worked the white topping on.

”Your part for the society?”

”Yeah”. You grinned and licked the spoon. ”Taking care of the elders.”

Bucky blinked slowly a few times before pocketing the key. You yelped a laugh when he picked you up over his shoulder like you were a bag of feathers, let alone a sack of potatoes.

”Bucky!”

”Sorry can’t hear you, dollface. Bad hearing. Comes with the age.”

He walked across the open-space and towards the bedroom. You had changed the sheets, white with small florals on them. A framed picture of him and you was on the bedside table. His clothes mixed with yours on that one arm chair that’s sole purpose was I’ll put these away later.

Being a relatively young rookie and also exceptionally good, wasnt as good of a coctail as you had thought.
