I have begun my John Dory Deeply Traumatized Dad AU over on AO3, if anyone wants to read it <|:•). Reminder warning, content of the first two chapters includes a somewhat explicit scene of sexual assault, and another of not quite unintentional water torture via dunking. Both scenes are relatively short and there is a guide to skip them. Both scenes take place in chapter 2.
Take care of yourselves and also enjoy my evil machinations!
This is not an incest fic. It does include a few OCs to fill in the important cast.

Small business owners wear a lot of hats. You are an employee, stakeholder, manager, jack-of-all-trades, as well as owner. The last two years even added more challenges. You had to handle mask mandates, shutdowns, and remote work. If you’ve never dealt with remote work before, “cloud hosting” might be a term you’ve heard of but don’t know too many details about. Cloud hosting typically involves having a third party manage and host all your IT infrastructure. Technology experts will thus handle all the technical issues and changes while you focus on your business

Advantages Of Hiring a CPA For Real Estate Developers In Austin And Dallas, TX
No business can hope to remain afloat and ensure profitability without being backed up by sound financial planning. Real estate is a profession that may require engineers and construction experts but hiring a specialized professional such as a CPA for real estate developers in Austin and Dallas, TX, can prove amazingly productive. Sure, the two business areas are as different as chalk and cheese, but the combination is almost magical as it yields the right results. However, it is advisable to check the pros and cons of approaching such a financial expert and hiring the services. First, one must know what it means to have a CPA assist one’s business. It suffices to know that a CPA or certified public accountant comes with skills that are way more than that of an ordinary accountant. On the contrary, such a professional happens to be a financial expert and quite adept at handling the responsibilities of an accountant. The combination of education and experience makes them sought after by almost all industries today. Besides, they have a license to practice their trade.
Hiring a well-qualified CPA to tackle business finances related to real estate becomes important as one’s business interests expand. Some of the advantages that the CPA brings into the concern include the following:-
Preparing Financial Records- The CPA is adept at creating documents that provide a snapshot of the financial stature related to the business. It is sure to include profit & loss statements, a summary of retained earnings, and a detailed balance sheet. The CPA will also focus on tax-related issues and guide as and when needed.
Tax assistance- Certified Public Accountants also take stock of the business transactions completed over a year and file the right IRS forms. This enables the business owner to remain compliant with the regulations. All financial activity will be documented as per the norms so that there are no penalties or IRS Audits to fear. In short, a competent CPA is trained in tax accounting as well. This will help the real estate company to save both time and money in the long run.
Deductibles- A finance professional would be well versed in taxation laws and the right way to file one’s tax without imposing a financial burden. A CPA can check the expenses and identify numerous ways of saving tax. Lowering the costs of business travel, advertisements, and/or entertainment can go a long way in reducing tax liability too. A real estate CPA could check the potential and reduce taxation to a great degree.
A real estate company or developer engaged in construction may also approach a financial firm to prepare construction for surety bonds in Austin and Dallas, TX. Qualifying for the surety bond is not challenging when a firm of certified public accountants takes on the responsibility. Having the required financial statements ready makes it easier for the concerned realtor to meet specific requirements.

concept: game/reality show called "Undercover" or something where you just get a group of strangers to hang out and get to know each other (probably with mundane activities and challenges idc—maybe where they teach each other things related to their career/interests) except a few of them have an entire artificially constructed identity/backstory and everyone is trying to figure out who is faking.
something like that werewolf/mafia game where each round they vote on who they think is fake and that person gets kicked off even if they weren't lying. The undercover person wins if they make it to the final 3 or something? Regular people get points for voting for the right person.
I think it would be funny if the fake backstories were given to them like 20 minutes beforehand so they don't have time to do research or anything. (They would probably choose something that none of the other players have expertise in so there's more room for just making stuff up.) The identities/backstories would be pretty mundane.
I just want to see someone who has to pretend to be a baker or something making up fake french words for different types of bread. Fake entomologist just inventing new types of insects on the fly. Real CPA giving legit tax info but everyone is second guessing them.

How the Bad Batch got white-washed: a script
(Don't know if this is how it actually happened, but it's my personal theory that came out after some wiiiild discussions on Discord. I don't believe this actually happened, but I do think liberties were taken to secure audience members and ratings. Enjoy, my little crumpets!)
CW: Everything. Just...at this point, in between fics and art filled with violence and Naughty Times and Doug's irrational ramblings about Toaster Strudel and SEC football, you should probably leave if you're under 18.
-----
(Be Star Wars animation studio, probably Florida, who knows)
Studio Executive: Yo, animator, we got a problem here.
Animator: Yes?
Studio Executive: These clones, the new guys in this new show, 'The Bad Batch'…they all look alike. All bronzed, good looking guys with dark hair and thick shoulders.
Animator: Yes, that’s, um, kind of what clones are, sir? They are genetic duplicates of an indigenous actor from New Zealand.
Studio Executive: That’s the problem.
Animator: Say what?
Studio Executive: Who is watching this damn show? Who is paying for Disney + subscriptions? Who is our main money-making audience here?
Animator: Um, I guess…families? And, uh, lonely single adults?
Studio Executive: EXACTLY. And you know what is declining, besides civility in an ever-crumbling society?
Animator: What?
Studio Executive: THE BIRTH RATE.
Animator: Uh, actually--
Studio Executive: YOU KNOW IT, I KNOW IT, THE WORLD KNOWS IT. DAMN GREAT RECESSION AND PANDEMIC AND CRUSHING REALITY GETTING MILLENIALS ALL (legitimately) SCARED OF HAVING BABIES. WE NEED MIDDLE CLASS PEOPLE TO START BREEDING LIKE RABBITS IF WE WANT TO HAVE A STEADY POPULATION OF AUDIENCE CONSUMERS OF DISNEY PRODUCTS.
Animator: Well, that seems aggressively eugenics-oriented, with a tinge of classism.
Studio Executive: WHATEVER I MAKE THE BIG BUCKS SHUT YOUR ART SCHOOL MOUTH. Now, redesign those new clones!
Animator: To…what?
Studio Executive: First of all, the tech guy! What’s his name?
Animator: ….Tech.
Studio Executive: WELL THAT SHIT’S EASY TO MARKET. Anywho, get rid of the tan and the muscles and the thick dark hair. No nerd looks like that, come on. Make him a skinny white guy with receding hair, slap some hipster glasses on him too. Actually, you know what? Meander your ass over to the accounting department on the second floor and draw a few of the weirdos conducting audits in there. Base the tech guy off of them, not a buff, golden, Maori man.
Animator: But the guys in accounting look NOTHING like Temuera Morrison! This is just wrong!
(pictured above: Not the average CPA in the USA. That rhymed)
Studio Executive: Bro, get real. Are these lonely single ladies and the exhausted moms watching this show with their kids going to run into Mr. Morrison while working their office job? You think Boba Fett’s tanned self sits at the corner cubicle and tries to hit on them when they go to the copier? What are you smoking?! And on that note, make that tech character sassy, smart, and nurturing! Make him the perfect guy!
Animator: Why? I am so confused.
("Wanna come look at some Excel spreadsheets with me, baby?")
Studio Executive: Because we want all the 30-something ladies watching this show to get so hot and bothered over Tech that they decide they need to have this clown’s babies, like, now! And they’ll run over to the accounting office, drunkenly hook up with one of the auditors in a broom closet after Thirsty Thursday, and boom! Another consumer born, 9 months later!
Animator: This is sounding astonishingly like eugenics.
Studio Executive: WHATEVER. Same goes for the other clones! Make that tall bald one look like the aggressively outgoing construction worker that’s laying cement outside of the accounting office! The one that always wolf-whistles and screams ‘Jesteś piękna! Beautiful like model!’ at every woman! The one that all the ladies in the office watch and go ‘Oh, yes, take that shirt off, it’s a hot day today, daddy’. Watching that fun guy on this show means those ladies with THROW THEMSELVES at guys like this! And bam! MORE CONSUMERS FOR DISNEY BORN.
(Wrecker has raw contractor energy. ::lays pipe::)
Animator: I am not enjoying this conversation’s direction.
Studio Executive: CAN IT AND TAKE IT UP WITH HR. Now the leader, I know we’re going with Rambo, and I’m okay with it, but give him a little extra smolder and snatch that waist a bit. I want to go for a ‘hot waiter at Cooper’s Hawk that slips you his number after you tip him 40%’, vibe. 30-something ladies love Cooper’s Hawk, there’s been market research, do it.
(He'll judge your love of pinot grigio, but not how you pay him, wink wink)
Animator: No.
Studio Executive: SHUT UP AND DO YOUR JOB. Now, the last two…bald, calm guy that always seems tired but is still constantly there for you? Basically, every exhausted Millennial man right now? Make him extra pale because he hasn’t left his condo since 2020 and his only social outlet is playing STEAM games with his other lonely friends. Perfect. Job well done.
(He uses his scomp to play 'Dave the Diver'. You know he does)
Animator: Yeah, his name is Echo and he–
Studio Executive: Good, make him like I said, and trust me, ladies will see men like him and want to fix them, and then promptly ride said men like it’s Derby Day. More consumers born, we will have a bumper crop of tickets purchased at Disneyworld and Galaxy's Edge within the next couple of years. Excellent.
Animator: Sir, you are a sick, sick man.
Studio Executive: Speaking of which, the last guy. Just make him Clint Eastwood.
Animator:…Clint Eastwood. Isn’t he old as hell?
(Oh, Daddy Warcrimes, you and your toothpick are the Internet's Everything)
Studio Executive: Yeah, but, daddy issues abound amongst many of our consumer audience. And this is a show about daddy issues. And hopefully, by watching this, we will turn more people in daddies and KEEP OUR CONSUMER NUMBERS UP ON DISNEY +!
Wait, where are you going?!
Animator: I’m resigning and joining the Peace Corps, I can’t do this anymore.

“You want to make sure your gains are well offset in a way that profits you. Have you considered purchasing a plane?” Janis asked.
“A plane? It could be useful, but most of my shipping is done over a boat or on truck, if it’s in the country,” Eddie considered the idea.
“True. But you ship construction supplies all over the place. You could use a private plane. Then, take the maximum depreciation on it, offset your overall income.”
“You’ve got a point,” Eddie nodded.
“Hmm. And with a plane, once it’s a business asset, you can rent it to your friends at a reasonable price. Income plus expenses. You follow?”
“Indeed!” Eddie laughed. “Any more advice?”
“Oh, honey,” Janis laughed. “Ask me when we’re more in private.”
She glanced over to the others at the bar.
“But I will say this - a good trust attorney can save and make you millions,” she winked.
“Speaking of good attorneys, can you point me towards one? And towards a good CPA?” Chandra asked. “I’m ok if they charge biting prices.”
“Dear, I’ve just the people in mind for you,” Janis smiled. “I will give you all the details. But say, isn’t your sonny going to join us for your day, Eddie?”
“He should be in soon.”

Roundtable Presentation: Laughing Through Color, Something New (2006, directed by Sanaa Hamri and written by Kriss Turner)
Which of the non-white stars transcend their racial or ethnic origins so that they do not signify ‘otherness’ through their constructed characters?
Something New surrounds the romance between Kenya (Sanaa Lathan), a career-focused CPA and Brian (Simon Barker), an adventurous landscape architect. The main barrier in their romance is their differing cultural backgrounds; Kenya is black and Simon is white. Kenya feels pressure from her community to date within her race and Simon does not always understand the nuances of her racial identity. In this sense, the crux of Kenya and Simon’s relationship is an apparent inability to transcend their respective ‘otherness.’
How does the film present characters with more approachable and recognizable ethnic backgrounds for global audiences?
To my understanding, the film’s target demographic is black women. As such, the film presents certain cultural touchstones that would be familiar to black audiences. With the exception of Brian, the white characters are not central to the story and largely exist in service to the narrative of their black contemporaries. This subtly subverts the conventions of romantic comedies, which have historically done the opposite.
youtube
In what ways does the film examine ideas or situations not expected of the film’s genre?
In many ways, Something New is a very traditional rom-com. It features meddling parents, a matchmaking coworker, a gaggle of gal pals, a suave romantic foil and a happily-ever-after ending. Sanaa Lathan herself has a everywoman charm that evokes the screwball comediennes of yesteryear and Barker is the type of hearthrob that was born to induce celluloid swoons. Within this adherence to genre is an interrogation of the black upper middle-class milleu. Kenya’s inner circle is sceptical of her relationship in part because of how it complicates respectability politics by devaluing black men. A particularly interesting scene happens towards the end of the film at a black debutante ball. Taking place in an opulent ballroom, we see a group of girls in ivory gowns escorted onto the dance-floor by a fleet of besuited boys. Kenya, who is dressed in her own princess-like ensemble, begins to verbally express dissatisfaction at the expectations attached to such a public display of respectability. It is in this moment that she realizes her participation in black high society is tied to her loneliness. It also allows her to have a perfectly-timed Cinderella moment, rushing out of the ballroom with the intent of winning Brian back.
youtube
In what ways does the film subvert gender roles typical to the genre?
Kenya has a higher-income job than Brian and chases after him in the final sequence; subverting the “guy loses girl” trope that prevails in the romantic comedy genre.
How does the casting center around white heteronormativity despite or in spite of its perceived diversity?
Given the film’s premise, I would say that the racial component of this question is not applicable. However, the couple is very much heteronormative and the film still espouses a narrative that is centered around marriage/coupling.

A Big Fat 🇺🇸🎆🍔-Centric Identity/Heritage Vent
i'm so fucking sick of hearing "if white culture makes you feel empty, identify as what your family was before they assimilated into the social construct" I CAN'T DO THAT THEY'RE ALL ENGLISH.
i don't know where everyone is pulling these 20th century immigrants from but for me everyone going back at least 5 generations was already in the US and assimilated. i have scottish heritage somewhere based on my name but fuck if i know where. my grandma's been maintaining her ancestry.com account for years. it's not in there, which means i probably can't ever find out.
i don't even feel connected to english people. i barely know anything about pre-US english history and most of what i do know is king arthur, the worst kind of christianity, and poverty. there's an english historian in my family, so that's a bad sign.
and apparently everything decent about this country's culture was made or brought in by other people and everything my people made is tainted somehow. the good things always turn out to be exaggerations or just lies. i know that sounds excessive but i just found out dunk tanks were originally racist. fucking DUNK TANKS. even the littlest things. power and business are nice to have but they don't make much of a culture.
my heritage seems to be "cheat and kill better than anyone else, take credit for all our lucky breaks, tell everyone we were pacifist heroes later and if anyone tells the truth, make them shut up". and if i choose not to embrace that i have no heritage at all.
and again, english, so i can't pull some "nope, not me actually" card and hop over to a culture i like better than "generic white". i know that's insulting but it reminds me of when i was in high school and i was mad at myself for being straight and "part of the problem". it turned out i was queer so it wasn't my problem anymore, but i never actually solved my issues with it, i just found an escape hatch.
also i'm jealous and salty. the rest of yall (another word i thought was ours but isn't), even if you can never get back what you lost, at least you know there WAS something. it's a tragedy but it's not your people's fault. for me... was there ever anything of substance at all?
oh yeah. i'm queer so most of my ancestors would probably hate me anyway, or have values i think are disgusting. joy.
"why not queer english then?" besides the fact a lot of them haven't treated me right? because honestly, when i hear about our history from just 40 years ago i feel like it was a completely different world. i don't feel continuity from stonewall or the aids crisis to my own life. even today, i see some homeless gay teen whose parents kicked them out and i'm furious for them as a human being, but i'm not their people and i know they wouldn't think a middle-class CPA hopeful with supportive parents was theirs either. we've had completely different lives.
and frankly, thinking about our recent past and the injustice of it all makes me want to projectile vomit.
i've tried talking this stuff out with my friends but... my girlfriend has a god complex (/gen /pos) and doesn't understand why i need a heritage, or any culture larger than a friend group. my next-closest political friend is both european and kinda using communism as a replacement for heritage, and everyone else i'm either not close enough to talk about this or they don't care about this stuff.
(also, and this is a genuine question so please reblog and explain if i'm wrong, why is, say, blackness more real than whiteness? they were both manufactured at similar times by english people, a bunch of groups lumped together regardless of heritage, but i consistently hear people say one is real and the other is not.
i know most black people can't find out their original ancestries anymore but identifying as black is clearly more than "the only available option" for people. it feels like the unspoken answer is "ours is good and yours is evil" but of course no one wants to say they think that way out loud.)
the point is. i feel like i've been in a culture of one my whole life. i'm not proud of my heritage and without it i feel a gaping emptiness without roots and a pinch of essentialism to tell me what to be. no, i shouldn't, my girlfriend never stops telling me BUT I DO.
does anyone else have this problem.
#whiteness#these notes are either gonna be empty or hell there's no in-between#vent#identity#ethnicity#rant post
