As a former fan of football and especially of Ronaldinho, my disappointment in him is immense. Just a reminder: only three months after completing the ethnic cleansing of Artsakh by forcibly removing over 120.000 Armenians — the region’s indigenous population with a history of thousands of years — azerbaijan has been granted the privilege of hosting the UN's Climate Summit (COP29) in November 2024. Rather than being held accountable for this atrocity — part of a calculated, multi-stage strategy of perpetrating a second genocide against Armenians — azerbaijan has been rewarded. And heartbreakingly, Ronaldinho, a footballer I once idolized, has decided to stand with such a regime and place himself on the wrong side of history by going there and shaking the blood stained hands of azeris.
