sigh okay. i would like to preface this by saying i donât care if you think Link is cishet or whatever, but at the end of the day this isnât about Zelda, itâs about oppressing others through religion. iâve done my part in reading your posts and understanding your views, and i donât expect you to agree, but i ask that you hear me out. apologies for any odd wording of misspellings, itâs 2 AM.
1. Yes! very true, Link does infiltrate Gerudo town for the purpose of saving Zelda and Hyrule. however, thatâs not what the imageâs inclusion was for and you know that. in this scene, Vilia (who is either a trans-woman or a drag queen) gives Link the Gerudo Vai set, then compliments and flirts with them, causing Link to blush as shown. the queerness behind this is blatant.
2. i disagree, there is certainly enough information. but, if you truly are confused, i found you the article: Pride in Zelda: The Non-Binary nature of Link and an Argument Against Linkle by Emi Curtis on Zelda Dungeon. i believe the article elaborates for me.
3. again, thatâs not what the imageâs inclusion was for and you know that. iâm sorry if this sounds mean, but it feels like youâre being purposefully obtuse, and this would be a much more productive conversation if you werenât. Sheik was included because Zelda, in Ocarina of Time, purposefully chose to disguise themself as a man despite there being no need to. their disguise wouldâve been just as effective if it was female presenting and they simply, say, changed their hair color. in most cases, changing oneâs presenting gender is a far greater feat than a simple aesthetic change. we can easily conclude that thereâs an in character reason for Sheik being a guy, and that itâs because heâs trans.
4. this is, to my knowledge, a perfectly understandable interpretation, and i wonât tell you that youâre wrong for this point. however, i will say that, as an ex-mormon, i relate to Zeldaâs arc in this because Hylia failed her, and it was only when she went to herself and those she loved for answers that she succeeded. also the reason that image was included was because she was saying âcurse youâ to Hylia, which uhhh cursing your own god is kind of against a lot of christian principles.
5. this comes from the same article as point 2, also your argument is blatantly false: nonbinary, genderqueer, and intersex people exist.
6. youâre correct, they can be. however take a moment and exercise those reading comprehension skills and analyze Shadow and Vioâs dynamic in the manga. discrediting the manga entirely simply because itâs not canon is doing a fundamental disservice to the works of Akira Himekawa. the two woman who worked tirelessly to produce the manga should be treated with respect. if you doubt their legitimacy, please do your research and understand how the manga was created closely with the games, quite literally being done parallel to the development of Majoraâs Mask. yes, they are often drastically different, but they still follow the themes of the games and are approved by Nintendo and the head creators of the Zelda franchise. respect the creatives behind the franchise you adore.
7. again, yes. again, thatâs not what the imageâs inclusion was for and you know that. the addition of tri-force heroes in this post is to include every time Link crossdresses in that game, an activity not typically deemed acceptable in conservative circles. if this was an isolated occurrence, such as Zeldaâs dress being the only one available to be worn in that game or if none of the other gender-ambiguous examples existed, iâd understand your insistence on this being without any trans-ness. but, alas.
8. at risk of sounding like a broken record, thatâs not what the imageâs inclusion was for and you know that. the point was Zeldaâs blushing and her heart beating, as well as the specifically chosen flowery, sparkly void background which is typically used in manga and anime during romantic scenes.
9. how many times must i say this: thatâs not what the imageâs inclusion was for and you know that. i trust that you, as an adult, should be able to understand what the context of an image is within a post, and the fact that you seem to be ignoring it is concerning at best. Bolson defies/goes against gender norms, norms that conservatives love to adhere to.
i donât care if you see your religion in Zelda, i actually think thatâs a beautiful connection to have with such a franchise, but the beliefs you spread are actively harmful. i would be happy to have an actual conversation with you, i know a lot about these fears (both on yours and mine) and am open to a dialogue.
Conservative and Christian themes in The Legend Of Zelda moodboard
#normally i donât interact w this kind of argument but i donât think youâre a horrific person#just that misinformation has resulted in bigoted beliefs#and this would be a much more productive conversation if we could actually talk about this#iâm down to speak in whatever way btw. i have a powerpoint ready actually that i used for a club meeting if u donât want to speak to me#that was worded weirdly. i could post the powerpoint n u could read it if u donât wanna talk to me#conservative christian lu discord server

.:: text ::. image 1: New Conservative LoZ and LU Discord Server!
image 2: What is this about? The Legend of Zelda games and Linked Universe fan comic have a lot of conservative and Christian themes, but currently such viewpoints are not welcome in the most well-known LU-themed Discord servers. In response to this, I haveâwith the help of some great friendsâput together a LoZ / LU-themed Discord server where we can share such views freely.
image 3: An Important Note: One of our rules states very clearly that we do not support the Pride movement. This is in response to how this ideology has affected the most well-known servers connected to LU in particular. There is far too much evidence showcasing how this ideology has become both predatory and overtly sexual, and it got so bad in these servers that we no longer felt like we were welcome or able to express our concerns freely and have them taken seriously. We needed somewhere to escape that toxic environment, a place where beloved characters wonât be queered into oblivion, and where we can discuss our honest concerns without being mocked or silenced.
image 4: So! If that sounds like a place where you would like to hang out, please come join our server, and spread the word to your friends! We are both a LoZ and a LU server, so even if youâre not familiar with LU and just want to talk LoZ, you are more than welcome to join in the fun! :D

theres a what floating around?????
around a day ago, a tumblr user posted a link to a discord server titling it "new conservative loz and lu server" explaining that this server was meant for conservative and christian fans of the franchise -- somewhat innocuous, if distasteful.
BUT. this user also added a note that this server explicitly condemned and didn't support the pride movement because "... this ideology has become predatory and overtly sexual..." this was red flag number 1, given that this is the same sort of rhetoric far-right activists use to justify discrimination against marginalized folks
this note in particular went on to say that they needed a "place where our beloved characters won't be queered into oblivion" which, like. red flag number 2.
it gets stranger though. the server's rules banned the pride movement as well as anyone who supported it. discussion about pride in the server was blatantly homophobic, of course. from one user:
I knew it [propaganda] was evil. Even so, seeing the manipulation first-hand is harrowing Boy does that ever sound like the Pride movement.
and that's just the most pleasant indictment of pride on this server
there's other pretty bad ideologies floating on here too, including transphobia, tradwife stuff and antisemitism, of which there is a massive 130 page PDF of these people talking about this stuff. honestly it's not worth your time to look through this drivel
tl;dr: this server sucks, do not interact with it, do not give it your engagement, and have fun queering every zelda character into oblivion
#asks#anonymous#not sure how i should tag this one#i really do not want to put this into the L//U tag#tw homophobia#linked universe#<- at the request of a friend to tag as such#um. happy psa everyone#em.txt

Can you explain the LU drama on the discord is? Because I first saw you listing off peoples names tk block then I saw another person I follow post the most HEINOUS fanart of hw link mpreg that genuinely disturbed me and I didnât even get a good look at it and what it going onnnnn đ
(Edit 07/09: read my reblog for updated information)
Hi! I will try to make this as comprehensive as I can.
First of all, I want to say to everyone: donât send hate to people who are not immediately associated with this situation. I got another ask and Iâm not going to share that one because it will spur more hate.
So. Here we go. @/alasse-earfalas made a post and tagged it with the main linked universe tags inviting people to join a âconservative Christian LU discord serverâ as she called it. That, by itself, is fine! Legend of Zelda does have religious themes so itâs reasonable and valid to want a safe space to discuss those. (I believe the post is still up, but if not I have screenshots for proof)
The issue is that one of their rules states that the server does not support the pride movement. They called the pride movement âpredatory and overtly sexual.â Those things are not true. That is the ideology legislators are using to take away queer peopleâs rights in the United States right now. It is a serious, bigoted viewpoint of the queer community and it is false. It is just hatred toward us because we are not the same as them.
They also started that they wanted a space away from their favorite characters being âqueered into oblivion.â It is up to you to choose which posts you interact with (not you, the asker of this question. I mean everyone). Religious posts and pride posts should both have a place in our community.
I made a list of people who interacted with that post and joined the server because I wanted to block them to protect my health and safety. I made the situation worse by not checking the intentions of everyone in the discord. Some people were there to snoop like I was. I take full responsibility for the hurt I caused by my actions, and once again I apologize.
However, I stand by my more recent post of people I chose to block. Bigotry of any kind will not be tolerated on my page.
HOWEVER, that includes Christianity. The server was a Christian server, but that does not mean all Christians in this fandom were involved with it. Queer Christians have been hurt most by this situation and they deserve to feel safe in the LU community, the pride community, and the Christian community.
Please do not send any hate towards other Christianâs on this app if they were not involved in the situation.
This account is a safe space. I apologize if anything I did spurred hate towards anyone involved with this situation.
I am part of the queer community and I stand by that proudly. We are not predatory, we are not overtly sexual. We just want to be proud of who we are.
I donât know what art youâre talking about. I donât believe it is associated with this situation at all.
I hope this doesnât sound hostile. I am not mad at you at all, I promise! I am frustrated with the situation and that people I thought were my friends are so hatefully against my identity.
Once again, there is no space for any kind of bigotry in this fandom. As long as you donât disrespect anyone elseâs existence, you deserve a place here.

hold on a sec - there's a conservative side to the LU fandom? can you delve a bit into this? im a super casual fan so i never picked up on that, but im jewish so im curious abt this conservatism.
thereâs actually a lot of people that identify as christians in the linked universe sphere on tumblr, including some of the more well known blogs. itâs never been a real issue in my time, because theyâre generally fine people, but recently a discord server was advertised in the linked universe and legend of zelda tags as âconservative and christianââthereâs not really anything wrong making a server like that per se, but the language used to promote it (disparaging the âpride movementâ because it was âpredatoryâ) caused understandable backlash.
screenshots from the server have been going around and itâs pretty bad, i would advise against looking for them but thereâs a lot of homophobia, transphobia, and antisemitism. you know, the works.
i like to keep my blog free of this stuff, but seeing urls in my notes that match the discord usernames of people iâve seen say terrible things is not the vibe. i hope youâre still able to enjoy linked universe as you are, because it is genuinely a really cool comic and like. there are more nice and normal people than there are people likeâŠ. that
#linked universe has the highest concentration of people with christian in their bio iâve ever seen#i do NOT know why#however it is also equally it not more queer#practically queered into oblivion#sorry anon âqueered into oblivionâ is a baby meme at this point because it was a phrase mentioned on the conservative discord post#about how they needed to protect characters that were straight from offensive headcanons fjdjemnd#if you like matt walsh you donât get to see my hand curated zelda content those are the rules

Rundown of the pride stuff, someone made a Christian and conservative discord server for LU fans and basically said that people who accept the lgbtq arenât allowed bc the lgbtq are predatory and all that, ladye was one of the people involved with the server so thatâs probably why they deactivated. arecaceae175 has a good post detailing who to avoid or block and who is just in there to gather screenshots
I see.
That is unfortunate. On one hand, I can appreciate wanting a server with other Christians where you don't feel like someone is going to come after your faith, but creating one and then going out and saying "we're the only ones allowed here" can/will cause trouble. Christianity teaches that all are welcome, but unfortunately, adopting the same mentality opens up people online to having their spaces crowded with people who want to get mad at them for their beliefs.
While I don't support the mentality of "you're a gay person so you're not welcome", because obviously Jesus welcomes all, I do understand wanting to have a small corner to yourself to catch your breath on occasion. Heaven knows anyone with as many siblings as I have would understand that.
Regardless, I don't see why this is such a big deal? A server was created for an express purpose and group, maybe as a support group (IDK, I didn't even know the thing existed) and ppl are getting mad because that group wanted to have their own space, that they created? It's not like they're taking over a space or trying to push other people out of an existing space, they're just setting boundaries so that they can have a place where they're free to believe as they believe without being hated on?
I mean, pardon me if I'm wrong, but is this not something like what PRIDE is about? Wanting to have the right to feel/believe/exist in the way that feels right, without judgement or somebody chewing you out for it?
Granted, the "predatory" thing is..... yeah. Not all people of the community are predators, despite the fact that some of us (myself included) have been preyed on by people in the community. That is not all of them though, and clearly it doesn't happen with every member of the LGTBQ+ community. However, IF there are people on this site targeting Christians in the name of "getting rid of the homophobes" then I can guarantee many of them will feel that this is a case of the LGBTQ+ community going out of their way to attack someone for being part of a group they don't like, which.... I'm sorry, but again, that is very ironic.

Hi hello, I've got a question, what that heck happened this week?? I haven't been active in awhile and I just logged back in here to follow an artist from tiktok, and I happened to see the conservative discord server screenshots on my "your tags" section. Is possible to get the sparks note version of what happened? (Sorry if the ask sounds weird, not very good at putting my thoughts into words)
Sorry I only answered this a few days later! You might already know what's happening by now, but in case you didn't I'll give you a TLDR:
- Tumblr user alasse-earfalas makes a post on LU's main tag advertising a conservative christian LU / LoZ server. She claims to want a safe space for those with similar views. What really catches people's attention is a part of the post that speaks about "Pride ideology" and how such "predatory" views aren't allowed in the server. In the same section she talks about wanting a space where characters are not "queered into oblivion." The vibes are utterly rancid.
- LU fandom immediately begins spiteposting. Everyone and their mother starts making LU queer headcanons or posts showing their support for the queer community. The memes flood in. "Queered into oblivion." is immediately reclaimed and added to people's lexicons. People are speedrunning how fast they can get banned off the server. There's almost a unanimous effort to make fun of bigots.
- Further controversy ensues under the surface. As it turns out, several religious people in the fandom had been interacting with Alasse and other people in the conservative server. It was impossible to know whether or not they shared similar views, but you can't blame people's caution. When questioned whether their blogs were safe for queer people, some gave very vague answers that pretty much dialed down to "I love everyone" or "I don't wanna talk about it." Neutrality in such instances is not reassuring for queer people, especially when the other side is claiming we are predatory. Afaik some people have redacted their statements or gone on to further clarify things. But some people still take a firmly neutral stance on the matter. (Don't ask who I haven't been following closely enough to know).
- A few days later Alasse comes back with a follow-up statement addressing the server. She pulls a mix between "gay people I respect VS gay people I don't respect." and "I'm not homophobic I have a gay friend." By stating that the server is not homophobic, but simply does not support the pride movement. Which is allegedly pushing to show porn to kids in school. When asked for a source on such a shocking claim someone on the server cites Fucking Matt Walsh rather than a non-biased and or scientific article. The transphobia also pops out when she claims the pride movement is trying to push surgeries on children (It's not. Children do not get gender realignment surgeries. You can find this out from five minutes on google). Addressing "queered into oblivion." Alasse goes on a rant about "queerwashing" characters, stating the Links are canonically straight and making them queer invalidates their identity. Alasse conveniently forgets that Nintendo has never canonically given Link a partner. She also forgets that bisexuality, asexuality and other sexualities that may include romantic attraction to the opposite sex do, in fact, exist. The rest of the post is whining about people joining the server to troll and basically just her reaping what she sowed for advertising on Tumblr Dot Com.
Aside for further outrage and memes, that's pretty much where we're up to so far. Things are dying down and hopefully the bigots will keep to their own corner and or fuck off from the fandom entirely.
#askbox#long post#Fuck it I'll tag as LU for anyone who hasnt been keeping up lol#linked universe#feel free to add any tidbits i missed

[ID: A pink page of the advertisement for the new conservative christian loz/lu fan discord server. Much of the text has been crossed out, creating a blackout poem that reads:
"An Important Note
We do support the Pride movement. This is love. There is far too much hate. We need beloved characters queered into oblivion. Ok"
Beneath the text is an icon of Navi the fairy. End ID]
@/fixing-bad-posts
#FAV FAV FAV the sexiest blackout poetry i've ever seen. ily gaylactic-fire#i hope it's alright that i added an id-- i know sometimes blackout poetry can be a lil tricky to read (at least for me anyway)

I will always love & support Christ.
But does this mean that we have to look at the LoZ lore from a Christian perspective? Because at the end of the day, LoZ's religions only bare a surface-level resemblance to the Christian faith.
There's actually a lot more Shintoist & Buddhist theming throughout the games.
To such a degree that even Demise mentions Rin'ne when he enacts the curse. Rin'ne being the Japanese word for SamsÄra, which is the Buddhist concept of the endless cycle of life, death, & rebirth that all living things are subject to.
I love the idea of a Conservative server to enjoy LoZ & LU, but I worry about trying to fit fictional religions into the shape of Christianity, because if you do, you end up losing a lot of the actual lore that makes the games interesting.
For instance, you really can't fit Greek or Norse mythology into the shape of Christianity because doing so utterly warps the characters within those myths to be unrecognizable.
Neither Hades nor Loki are the devil, & if anyone DARES to attempt to compare God with either Zeus or Odin, I will riot! They are horrid, wicked people & I will not stand for such a comparison!
Yes, Hyrule's religion has a Trinity of sorts, an ultimate evil that despises that Trinity as well as humanity, & a godly entity who became mortal for the sake of humanity, but that's about where the resemblance ends.
For one, Din, Nayru, & Farore are all separate beings, whereas the Holy Trinity are the 3-in-one. From what I've been told, they are the same Almighty God at 3 different points.
Not only that, but Hylia isn't even part of that trio despite being the messianic equivalent & therefore should be one of the 3.
Not to mention, there is no reincarnation in the Bible that I know of.
So, yeah. I'm definitely a bit worried..

Also, those in the comments outright mocking the post. THAT is why conservative fans want their own space.
You may not think so, but your own behavior shows that you aren't as "tolerant" as you like to pretend to be. True tolerance includes everyone, including Christian conservatives.
Ergo, all I'm seeing is a bunch of hypocrites dogpiling on someone who's just tired of seeing hcs she doesn't agree with. And discord servers have been made for worse reasons.
I'll be completely honest here. I have received more hatred & death threats from those who call themselves "tolerant" by supporting the queer movement than from anywhere else.
Someone literally once told me that they hoped I got raped with a barbed wire.
And, why is it that someone's desire for a space of their own is only seen as hateful & bigoted when it's Christian conservatives?
From what I can see, you all look down on us & think us lesser than you.
And, for those quoting the Bible on loving each other. You're right, but something that I also see as relevant is the idea of loving the sinner, but hating the sin.
And if you really hated Christian conservatives being on the hellsite as much as you claimed, then you'd support us having our own space, thus being on this site less. But this:
Plus, all the ones outright mocking & bullying OP just encourages more hate & reinforces a desire for our own space.
The Oxford Dictionary definition of bigot is "a person who is obstinately or unreasonably attached to a belief, opinion, or faction, especially one who is prejudiced against or antagonistic toward a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group."
Ya'll are bigots.
Then, there's the fact that the guidelines state "those who experience homosexual attraction or gender disphoria are welcome here, but those who celebrate the Pride movement - who would force that celebration on others - are not."
Besides, what about those who generally just aren't into queer ships? Especially when the 2 characters are just thrown together & don't actually have romantic chemistry? Like me?
Besides, OP states how the ideology has "become" overly sexual & predatory, which indicates that it wasn't always that way.
Which suggests a degree of discontent with the direction of the movement itself rather than the individual.
And another thing, maybe this wouldn't be as much of an issue if people tagged things properly on this site.
